I was talking with a friend today, which lead me to realize that not everyone automatically makes up an entire storyline for strangers they see in public

#everyone gets a quickly thought up backstory unless i meet them and learn that my imaginings were incorrect #that old man walking along the side of the road with a fabric grocery bag? well his spouse recently died #and his walk to the groceey store serves as his daily exercise as well as his daily human interaction #because his kids don't talk to him anymore. he regrets not putting more effort into the relationship with them when they were younger. #and that person sitting in their car in the grocery store parking lot? well they have major anxiety about grocery shopping. #they're trying to work up the nerve to go inaide. and they really should call their therapist back. they've skipped the last three sessions. #and that couple sitting together on the grass at the park while laughing happily? they just started dating recently #and the park is their first ~actual~ date that they both knew was a date. the times before were just hanging out together.or so they thought #but one of them finally got the courage to clarify what they were to each other. #niether of them have been in a relationship before so they were both uncertain. #there'll be an awkward kiss on the cheek at the end of the date. #one of them will be thrilled about it the rest of the night. the other will be embarrassed. likely thinking it was cheesy/weird #anyway yeah is this not a normal thing people do?
