Hello! We're Marshall, Demi, August, Vervain, & Wren. With the exception of August, we're all struggling trans people living in southern red states. Marshall & Demi are currently living in Texas, with Vervain & Wren living in Missouri. We have plans to meet in Oregon where August lives and rent a home together with our cats Johnny, Boggart, & Ahsoka.

The future of trans and LGBT+ rights in Texas and Missouri are in jeopardy, with 29 anti-trans bills currently active in Missouri and 32 active in Texas. It is no longer safe for us to live in these states. We are living every day in fear.

We're shooting for a move in date at the start of September, which is when Marshall & Demi's current apartment lease ends. The last year has been rough for all of us, and while we're all scraping by and have savings split between the five of us, by no means do we have the amount needed to successfully move across country and live comfortably.

We're looking to raise about $10,000 minimum, ideally $12,000 to fund our move. We estimate that we'll have a good portion of that amount by the time the move out date comes. Probably around $8,000 at a minimum come August. Which is why we come to you, generous strangers!

The current cost of moving as we've calculated it is as follows:

Between $750-$2,200 for the initial deposit on the home.

On average around $2,200 for the first month of rent, plus an additional month's worth as a cushion if we can manage it.

Around $3,500 for the cost of renting a Uhaul plus gas across country.

Around $900 for pet deposits.

All of this totals to $11,000 at most, and while we plan to have around $8,000 at move we still need help closing the gap on that last $3,000. And of course there's no accounting for unforeseen costs, which is why we're shooting for a little bit more. We deeply appreciate any help that comes our way!
