Left Behind - Chapter 1
The Status Quo
ASH KETCHUM had always been too busy traveling on the road to pay much attention to those in his circle of friends and acquaintances.  He always remembers a face when he’d see them again but in transit it was always what was in front of him or a second step ahead that mattered – long term plans were kept vague and that’s how he liked it.  “Day by day” in his words.
As he aged, however, that philosophy began to get challenged.  It was after Alola when he took notice.  Ash hadn’t paid attention to the social media accounts that Bonnie had made him set up, so one day when he went to Kalos for Professor Cerise, he had a huge shock when he noticed a ring on Clemont’s finger.
“Hey, Clemont, what’s that about?” he asked eventually has they conversed over tea and cake.
“Oh, didn’t you see, Ash?” replied Clemont.  “I proposed and got married to Serena two years ago.  The wedding was eight months ago.  She and I posted about it on InstaShoot.”
The black-haired boy blinked in shock.  Had he really not noticed, he thought.  Strange…
“Er – yeah, I-I must’ve forgotten about it! Haha!”
Clemont cocked his head to one side.  “Yeah.  I-it’s okay.”  Something in his voice told Ash it wasn’t though…
Stranger things happened still.  Soon he found out Bonnie and Max had crossed paths somehow and were now dating; Kiawe got engaged to Mallow (he’d been apparently developing feelings for her the whole time when they were in school together.  Ash seriously questioned how he hadn’t noticed before.  Wouldn’t that have been obvious?); Brock got engaged to Lucy; May and Drew got married and already have a kid on the way.
The then 24-year-old was incredibly confused and wondered: had he never really noticed any of these relationship signs?  It seemed odd to Ash…and the worst part was learning all of this either on his new social media accounts or by directly encountering those friends and apparently being the only one not to know.
Worse was to come.  He returned home to Pallet Town a few days after learning about Kiawe and Mallow’s engagement to each other.  He wasn’t physically or psychologically tired from the journey as Goh and Professor Cerise suspected but he took the vacation regardless because he needed a break from all the shocking news he was enduring.
“Ah, Pallet Town,” sighed Ash when he saw it once he ascended to the top of the hill.  “Doesn’t look like much has changed.”  Ash huffed with content; it was a line he uttered every time he saw the place.  Then has grew closer and closer he heard an orchestra of familiar sounds, sounds that didn’t belong to Pallet Town.  “Er…”
Past the thick tree lines that filled his right vision stood familiar yet alien buildings.  There stood several new suburb blocks with several more under construction nearby.  “Um, no one mentioned those last time we talked…” Ash groaned.
As he entered town, the changes hit him in his heart more.  Now there were shopping strips, more than ever before, the once quaint and quiet town now a hustling bustling place.  A whole crowd of elementary students rushed by him from a café he usually only saw in the big cities – the sight of it in his hometown hurt his head.  He sought out his family home, yet once again, it hit him like a bullet train to the solar-plexus, and that hurt.  “Oh, what in the hell is this?” asked Ash Ketchum.
Now his house was replaced with a bigger one, the material the same, now with more storage rooms and a bigger kitchen, dining, and living room.  Ash slept that night, not feeling at home at all.
The next day he found his Mom already out of the house.  Not thinking this strange, Ash went about his breakfast before he headed for Professor Oak’s Laboratory.  His time in the company of his Pokémon at the corral went by peacefully.  Professor Oak and Tracey were as cordial as ever with him and nothing seemed amiss to Ash in comparison to the shock he had had for a homecoming yesterday.
Delia Ketchum was noticeably tired when Ash returned home late in the afternoon, but she hadn’t given him any reason to be concerned.
The next morning saw her absent from the house yet again.  Ash was unconcerned and once more set off to the Oak Corral.  It was at the lab where Ash wondered if something was up, because he found the Professor and Tracey both absent.
“Huh… Strange.”
He headed for a convenience store and was in the middle of walking back to his family house when he saw Gary leaving the local church.  Ash froze up where he stood adjacent to the doors. “U-uh…”  Ash was without words.  Gary was in a tuxedo, a girl with long brown hair he didn’t recognize in a wedding dress, her left arm hooked with his, Professor Oak walking nearby and his Mom in a fancy dress right behind.
“Oh, hey, Ashy-boy,” said Gary as soon as he noticed him.
Ash recovered and tried not to show how stunned he was. “Hey, Gar-bear.  You’re…you’re married – er – that’s amazing!”
“Yeah, it is.”  Gary paused and looked at Ash.  Ash’s lips trembled slightly.
“So, um, no one said anything…”
“Sorry about that,” said Gary awkwardly.  “It was RSVP, and when I talked to your Mom, we weren’t sure how available you’d be to come.”
Ash’s heart sank.
“I’m sorry, dear,” his Mother added solemnly.  “You just seemed like you really needed a rest so I didn’t want you to worry about attending.”
“I totally get how busy it can be as a Research Buddy so I just assumed things were busy with ya.  It was a surprise to hear you came home, but like I said…”
“That and the church does get upset with last-minute arrivals,” said ‘Leaf’.
“Well, it’s not like we were that crowded,” said Gary suddenly.  “A few people couldn’t make it anyway.  Your Mom probably prepared too much food for the reception anyway, so come with us.”
“Well, um…”
“Good idea! Ash, you do have some fancy clothes for parties, right?”
“Well, yeah, I-”
“Good! Put them on and head for 720 Purwey Street. No, on second thought I’ll come with you to make sure they’re on right,” said Delia as she ran up as fast as she could – or as fast as a woman could in heels – to him.
“Y-yeah…thanks.”  Ash sighed inwardly.  Now all he’d done was waste his money buying some hundreds yen worth of food in the plastic bag he was carrying.
***
“Oh, hurry, hurry,” fussed Delia as she knotted his tie on his dress shirt.
Ash grimaced and kept his thought about how they wouldn’t be in a hurry if he had just known about the event that morning to himself.
The reception went by with Ash not knowing how to feel.  He felt happy for Gary but he also felt an icy loneliness.  He didn’t know this ‘Leaf’ girl, never knew she existed, and couldn’t shake the feeling he was a spare brought to eat the food that some five absentees left behind.
“Why wasn’t I told?” he muttered to himself as he swallowed his second glass of white wine.  No one heard him, though, and he preferred it to stay that way.  His Mother happily conversed with some of the local ladies in attendance while Ash was left alone – he figured his own feelings didn’t need to be known, the loud music and clicking of shoes on the dance floor drowned him from sight…
He felt hurt and unsure of himself.  It seemed like pointless bureaucracy to think about the logistics of letting him know of the festivities.  He had been around Professor Oak’s practically all day yesterday, why not inform him of Gary’s special day.
***
Delia now placed more focus than ever before into the family business left to her by his Grandmother.  It turned out that the expansion to their house was necessary to allow his Mom to host cooking lessons that she started offering.  Ash kindly offered to move out to leave space, his Mother gave her blessing.  In truth, Ash only agreed to it because it hurt too much to feel so out of touch with everything around him.
He was glad when he was able to go back to work soon after.  The problem, however, was that he soon became too engrossed to work.  Months passed by, and he was forced to take an even longer break.by Professor Cerise and Goh again.
Ash tried to spend his free time not obsessing with what else was happening, but he couldn’t escape it.  Tracey and Daisy had twins before his break; May had given birth while he had been researching in Hoenn and he had not been invited to say ‘hello’; and Lana had recently become a CEO of a now global-expanding Riding Pokémon Training and Education Company.
“Ugh…and Lana really asked Brock and Professor Cerise to help with setting that up before asking me?”  Ash hated trying to make it about him, but something stung about not being trusted enough to help with those ventures.
“Everybody…has so much going on, buddy,” Ash said to Pikachu early one morning on the second-floor balcony.  There hadn’t really been a point to sleeping in as he’d have liked, everyone he knew was either out of town or preoccupied with other things, so he couldn’t have a nightlife (not in a small town like Pallet) and doing it of his own accord wasn’t really his style anyway.  “They’re all doing things I wouldn’t have expected, or are deep in their relationships…”
Even Paul had gotten a girlfriend recently and that weirded Ash out just because his image of him was a surly one.  Maybe he’d been wrong about Paul the whole time…
Still, things could be more shocking, Dawn was currently juggling two relationships at once after deciding she indeed has bisexual leanings.  Then again, he isn’t an expert in romance so maybe it made sense Dawn never confided this to him.  Then there was Ritchie, who changed careers entirely and now is a building engineer; both Violet and Shauna separately went from fashion models and influencers into real estate and restoring national heritage sites; but perhaps worse of all was how he could see and read about pretty much everyone he knew but Misty.
He'd never been able to get an answer, not even a word.  Her sisters always picked up her phone, apparently busy with meetings with the League – none of his and her mutual friends really knew either and social media was of no help.  Ash sighed and drank his milked-down coffee, he had a feeling he knew what was going on, or at least an inkling.  His heart ached as all of that weighed down on his mind.
“Y’know what, though?” he said to Pikachu, continuing his out loud wonderings.  “There’s no point in dwelling on ‘ifs.’  We’re here, and we’re now.  Not like there’s anything else to do, Mom’s running the restaurant.  Let’s just go for a ride.”
“Pika-chu!” said Pikachu in agreement.
Ash hurriedly got his bike out the door and after collecting a random assortment of his Pokémon friends to bring along, began his journey.
“Anywhere you really want to be, Pikachu?”
“Chu. Pika!”
“You don’t have an idea either?  Seems we’re in agreement – anywhere we please!”
Ash biked along aimlessly.  He breezed through Viridian Forest and past the city and out into the unknown, biking without awareness.  He peddled through fields of flowers, past lonely farms and rice paddies, rumbled past bridges that were above rivers or dips in the grasslands, plunged into naturally formed rocky caves turned tunnels and ones purposefully built, he’d tread and weave through towns and cities, climbed up winding roads, and crested a hill and took in the sea breeze as he passed by the ocean from atop a cliff.
He took it all in, not really caring for where he was or how much time had gone.  His only stop was a ramen cart at the border of some town somewhere along the way.
He didn’t keep up where he was going because he didn’t want to think.  Thinking, he realized, only brought him pain and regret.  Traveling was in his heart; he loved adventure and that was where he felt truly at ease.
Yet he couldn’t escape his anxieties.  Alone in the open country with only the sound of bike gears winding alongside only the occasional Pokémon cry left his brain to go back to speculation.
Had Misty found a boyfriend or girlfriend by now?  Was she pregnant?  Running a business or had she taken over from somebody – followed in Violet’s footsteps?  Perhaps all his calls in the past few months fell on deaf ears because she was preparing for her wedding?  Ash shook his head, trying to will the bad thoughts away but he just couldn’t.  Out of everyone whose lives were changing without him knowing, it was Misty’s that strangely irritated him the most.  The idea of yet having to have another major epiphany of events beyond his control was too much to bear.  He never noticed that he was suddenly going uphill.
Atop the slope lay a four-way crossroad.  Ash in his state climbed it without a problem and when the gradient flattened, he had no way of slowing down as a stopped bike with someone on top came into view!
“Whoa! Look ou—”
With a resounding crunch, metal met metal and Ash was hurled into the dirt path.
“Ow…! Damn it. Hey, are you all right…Misty?”
Perhaps it was his last thoughts making him think it was Misty.  There was no way such a coincidence as the very person he was thinking of would be there when he needed them was.  No way her hair was still as short as the last time he saw her.
“Ash, is that you?”
It was her.

Farewell to You, ch 2
"Someone page me?"
Max turned, seeing Brock had arrived. With him was Pike Queen Lucy.
Everyone exclaimed, "Brock!"
Brock stated, "Hey everyone! I want everyone to meet my girlfriend, Pike Queen Lucy."
Lucy greeted, "Hello."
Everyone blinked in confusion, "You have a girlfriend?!"
"I know, it surprised us too."
Professor Kukuki and Professor Burnet had arrived with their son, Lei. With them Lillie, Gladion, Sophocles, Lana, Mallow, Olivia, and Kiawe arrived.
Drew said, "That must be the Alola group."
Lillie confirmed, "Yes, we are."
Gladion asked, "Are you Drew then? Aren't you the Prince of Hoenn or something?"
To that, Drew blushed modestly. He cleared his throat, "Yes, I am."
Olivia teased, "Just had to be the prince, huh? To be closer to your princess?"
Drew and May both blushed at that. Everyone laughed.
"And here we thought Molly was a princess."
Professor Hale had arrived with his wife and daughter. Upon seeing Molly, Max blushed.
He said to himself, "Uh oh."
Brock stated, "Glad to see you, Professor Hale."
Hale regarded, "Same to you, Brock."
Lucy looked at his wife and said, "And this must be Krystal?"
Krystal replied, "Yes, ma'am. And you are one of the Battle Frontier Brains, right?"
Lucy confirmed, "That I am."
"And you are so cool!"
Barry and Bianca had arrived. They were also holding hands.
Dawn blinked, "Wait, you two are dating?"
Barry confirmed, "Yes we are!"
Dawn was confused, "Is anyone else dating that I oughta know about?!"
To that, everyone laughed. Olivia turned to Kiawe, smiling softly. Kiawe smiled at her. Dawn's eyes were wide. There were a lot of couples.
"Dawn!"
Dawn turned, seeing Zoey there. With her were Paul and a teen around their age. She had short brown hair, green eyes, wearing a silver locket around her neck, a white short sleeved shirt, a purple skirt, and a purple pouch with white shoes. Her name was Ranee Katina. They were also holding hands.
Dawn complained, "Oh come on! Even Paul's dating?!"
Paul gruffly stated, "Yeah, what's it to you?"
Ranee started to say, "Paul..."
Paul interrupted, "And in either event, you're one to talk. You and Kenny are dating."
To that Dawn and Kenny both blushed. Ranee giggled.
Zoey put her hands behind her head and admitted, "To be fair, I'm not dating yet."
Lillie scratched the side of her head, "Neither are me and Gladion."
Gladion huffed, "Not a lack of trying."
"That leads to desire."
Daisy, Tracey, Lily, and Violet had arrived. Daisy had an engagement ring on her finger.
"Eek, are you and Tracey engaged?!" May shrieked.
Daisy giggled, "Yes, we are!"
Everyone offered their congrats to the newly engaged couple.
Harley asked, "When did this happen, hon?"
Daisy answered, "It was a while back, before Ash became World Champion. He was so nervous!"
Tracey blushed, "Of course I was nervous! It's so hard proposing to a beautiful lady like you."
Daisy was the one to blush now.
Solidad pointed out, "You two are so cute."
"Not as cute as my brother!"
Rudy, Melody, and Mahri had finally arrived.
Solidad teased, "Eh, Harley is cuter."
Harley wound up blushing, only for a minute. Solidad giggled.
"I got to say this is turning into a massive party."
Goh and Chloe had arrived.
"Hey Goh. Hey Chloe." Max greeted.
Chloe stated, "Greetings, Max."
Max blinked, "I thought Gary would be with you two."
Goh clarified, "He said that he'd be late getting here. He wanted to pick up Miss Jones."
Olivia asked, "Whose Miss Jones?"
Kiawe was about to answer when they heard a voice.
"That be me!"
Gary and a teen around his age had arrived. She had long brownish hair, blue eyes, wearing a green blouse with quarter inch sleeves and sky blue sparkles on it, short brown jean skirt, black nylons, white shoes, and a sky blue headband and on it was a green Pokeball pattern. Her name was Erika Jones.
Gary introduced, "Everyone, please meet my girlfriend, Erika Jones."
Erika waved, "Hello everyone!"
Everyone greeted her happily. It was at that time where Ms. Ketchum and Professor Oak had come over.
Oak smiled, "You are doing a splendid job setting up."
May turned to the professor, "Thanks, Professor."
Delia told them, "I must agree but we'll need some help with the food now. Who wants to help?" Everyone raised their hands, making Delia giggle. She teased, "I don't think I'll need that much help."
Brock stated, "Lucy and I could help, Ms. Ketchum."
Cilan replied, "So can Iris and I."
Delia responded, "That would be great, thank you. The rest of you can finish setting up."
Brock, Lucy, Cilan, and Iris all followed Delia back to the kitchen.
May thought for a moment, "I was just thinking. Where is Misty? I thought she would be here by now."
Gary told her, "I asked her to try and delay Ashy-boy until we get everything set up."
Dawn giggled, "Ashy-boy?"
Kenny teased, "Dee-Dee is a way better nickname."
To that, Dawn blushed out of embarrassment and love.
"I still can't believe that the twerp is now the World Champion."
Jessie, James, and Meowth had arrived. They had left Team Rocket recently so they hadn't changed out of their uniforms. They still had their Pokemon.
Bonnie admitted, "And it's hard to believe that you three hadn't left Team Rocket sooner."
Jessie stated, "Yeah, we know."
James added, "But it has been a part of our lives for a long time."
Meowth responded, "There's no way that we can catch that Pikachu now. We realize that now."
Gary shrugged, "Well, better late than never."
Dawn gasped, "Was that a poem?"
Erika huffed, "Hey, back off, he's my boyfriend!"
Brock replied, "Don't worry, she does this all of the time."
Dawn just chuckled sheepishly. Piplup giggled at its trainer, earning a glare from the Coordinator. Piplup stopped, just smiling at her.
Dawn teased, "I'm watching you."
"Piplup!" Piplup said, giggling a bit.
...
Later on that day, Anabel arrived. She was holding hands with Looker. She had started to work with the international police.
May blinked, "I didn't even know that you were interested in working with them, Anabel."
Max added, "Yeah and what about Scott? Does he know that you are working for them?"
Anabel told the siblings, "Actually it was Scott's idea in the first place. He wanted me to help with the international police because of my ability to sense others feelings."
Looker stated, "It's been really amazing seeing her in action. She even gave me a Poochyena as a partner." He turned to Anabel and asked, "Isn't Scott coming to this thing?"
Anabel frowned unsure, "He said he might not be able to make it. He said he wanted to get to Twinleaf Town to check on Palmer? I'm not sure."
Lucy was about to say something to her fellow Battle Frontier member when she heard a voice.
"Hey everyone!"

Holiday Blues - Leon x reader
the anon who suggested this is a god and i submit to them fully. this idea was simply immaculate. i simply couldn't help but write it!
basically this is a companion fic to my piece "Link Cable", but the roles of our two hot champions are reversed. read that fic here if you're so inclined.
features angst, sad and insecure leon, mentions of alcohol, swearing, one reference to sex and mild steven x reader (again it's just more for the plot than anything else). also i used the term 'holiday' to refer to a vacation, since lee's from galar and that's based on the uk and they (and i tbh) use holiday. gn! reader. 1.6k words.
summary: finally able to take a holiday, lee and co. head to alola. while there unfortunately, he runs into his ex, who's moved on with the silver-haired dreamboat himself, and he is not ok with it.
Enjoy!
He had looked forward to this holiday.
To swimming in shimmering turqoiuse waves, to exploring the unique enviroments of Alola, to battling against strong new trainers, to lazing beneath warm golden rays of sunshine with an ice-cold drink in hand.
To just relax, to just be happy.
But how can he relax, how can he be happy, with the sight that lays before him. You, the love of his life, the one that got away, in the arms of another man, gazing at him with a look of pure devotion, while he holds your hip so gently and smiles so tenderly back at you.
And what’s worse, that man is Steven Stone.
He feels his heart plummet practically to the floor, he suddenly forgets the entire reason he had stepped foot into the beachside pub. Despite the air conditioning, he feels so unbearably hot, sweat is already starting to glue his shirt to his back, in hindsight, it was such a smart idea for him to tie up his hair in a ponytail.
Never in his life has he wanted to disappear so badly, not even the tabloid mandibuzzes could make him feel this terrible.
And then, you notice him.
He’s surprised you would even acknowledge his presence, let alone smile so joyfully at him, considering all he’s done. “Lee!” you call out, waving your hand. It makes a part of him so happy to hear you call him that again.
He doesn’t know what to do. Like a fucking idiot, he looks around, as if he wasn’t sure you’re calling for him in particular. Of course you are, he’s just being a coward.
He walks over, despite every bone in his body begging for him not to. “Hey,” he says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Hey you…” you reply and for a moment he feels like he’s in bed next to you again, and that’s the first thing you say to him after he wakes up.
Wow, that thought makes things so much worse.
“Where are my manners?!” you exclaim, clearly you’ve mistaken his reminiscing for a lack of engagement. “Leon and I used to date,” you explain to Steven.
You say it so casually, like it’s no big deal. If the roles were reversed, he would be fuming if your ex came up to you, but Steven seems to simply nod politely and pay it no heed.
Of course he would do that. He’s the ultimate gentleman, how could he even faze him? He’s so intelligent and mature and educated and handsome and suave and smart and attentive and elegant… like the prince charming he never could be.
You place your hand so delicately on Steven’s chest. It’s like he can feel the ghost of it on his chest too, but now instead of love, all it conveys is dread. You smile so blissfully, what a bittersweet image. “This is my husband Steven,” you say, voice trembling from the most joyous form of disbelief.
Husband? Husband?! How is that even possible? It seems like only yesterday you two were together, and now you’ve gone and gotten hitched to the former champion of Hoenn? Bound yourself to him until death? Surely, this must be some kind of trick? A bad dream?
“Hey,” Steven says, extending his slender hand toward him. “I do believe we’ve met before”.
Met before? They’ve battled before! Steven lost to him before! You were there if he recalls correctly, preferring to watch through the television in his locker room, than potentially be spotted in the VIP box by ravenous paparazzi.
He wonders if you fancied the Devon heir then. It’s almost an insult, to have won against him, yet to lose something so much greater to him not long after.
“Em… Yeah, we have,” he finally manages to answer, taking Steven’s hand and shaking. Maybe he grips him a bit too strongly, he can see Steven flinch.
He hates to admit but he enjoys the sight.
“So… have you two been married long?”
In reality, he doesn’t want to know, but he really doesn’t know where to go from here.
“Only a week,” you giggle like a schoolkid with a crush, Steven blushes and beams, lightly squeezing your hip. The sight sickens him. “We’re actucally on our honeymoon.”
You always wanted to go to Alola, especially for your honeymoon. He remembers you showing him this cute little B&b by the beach, he remembers you saying if you two ever got married, you should go there. He remembers liking that idea, but quickly pushing it to the back of his mind so he could prepare for his next match.
“Wow… that’s great, really,” he says, putting on his champion persona and hoping you can’t see through the lie. If you weren’t so loved-up, you probably could have. You always had a knack for recognising his true feelings. Or at least, you did, way back when he was your champion.
You go to take a sip of your drink, but your glass is empty. Is it bad that he wishes that he was at the end of your lips and not the straw? It’s definitely bad that he wishes to be in place of your husband.
“Here darling. let me get you another one of those,” Steven offers, you happily nod. “Oh yes, thank you Stevie!” you respond gleefully, kissing his cheek in gratitude. The fact you have a nickname for him is bad enough, but seeing you kiss him is pure torture.
“Can I get you anything, Leon?” Steven asks. This chap really is something special, he could never imagine offering the same courtesy to his spouse’s ex.
“Oh, no thanks”. He immediately regrets declining, he could really, really use a strong drink right about now as Steven kisses your forehead and ruffles your hair. It’s not the action that necessarily upsets him, it’s your reaction, your contented closed eyes, your precious, happy smile.
“I’ll be back in a moment,” Steven says, taking your empty glass before leaving for the counter.
“Finally taking a holiday?” you inquire with a quirked eyebrow.
“Yeah, now that I work at the battle tower I have more time to just relax…” he answers, even saying that makes him feel relief. Who knew that having a consistent schedule and reasonable hours could make a job so much more bearable?
“That’s good, Rose used to work you too hard…” you sound almost solemn, he knows exactly why.
“He sure did…” he trails off. He hopes this doesn’t become a discussion about your break-up, he knows how hard he fucked up by not making you a priority, and frankly, he would rather cut off all his hair than hear your disappointment again.
“Are you here alone?”.
He feels lucky that that’s not true. How much sadder would it be if it was? Him, all alone while the one that got away is here with their rich, attentive husband… that would be somehow so much more painful.
A nasty part of him wishes he was here with a partner, someone better than you, someone that would make you jealous. But he could never love someone like that, never love someone who wasn’t like you.
“Oh, no, I’m actually here with Raihan, Nessa and Sonia. We all needed a break,” he confesses, truly glad that even if he doesn’t have you, he still has a great group of friends. “That sounds like so much fun!” you say, you seem genuinely delighted for him, he likes the validation.
“Do you have any plans for the rest of the day?” he asks.
“We’re heading to the Hokulani Observatory after dinner. There’s a minior shower on tonight that we’re really excited to see!”. You definitely sound excited, your eyes shine in almost child-like wonder.
This reminds him of the time you lamented to him that the light pollution in Wyndon made it impossible to stargaze, he should immediately have brought you out to Postwick after that.
“You?” you question in response. “We’re going snorkelling,” he answers. “We’ve never done it before… except for Nessa obviously, but it should be good fun”.
“Yeah, Stevie and I went snorkelling a few days ago and it was a really good time,” you say in an almost dreamy manner. Then, you turn towards the counter, Steven is on his way back over, with your drink in hand.
He can’t stomach seeing you in his arms again. Truly the thought makes him want to bawl his eyes out. “I should probably go, I don’t wanna be late,” he musters out, despite their tour not departing for another two-and-a-half hours.
“Try not to get lost on the way,” you chime with a sparkling grin. Oh, how he longs for the days you’d tease him about his poor sense of direction when he arrived a bit late to a date, before passionately kissing him. “Enjoy the rest of your holiday!”.
“Y-you too,” he stutters out. Why did he just say that? No shit you’re going to enjoy it. It’s your honeymoon! You’ve probably going to spend the rest of it relaxing by the beach while your husband makes love to you.
He feels sick, he turns away before you can notice the slight tinge of green in his complexion. “Bye (Name),” he says quickly, walking away without giving you time to respond. The moment he’s outside, he has to fight back tears. He can’t cry, not here, not where you might be able to see him.
He had looked forward to this holiday.
But now he wishes he never came.

Z-Move with a Price (Part 4)
Tumblr media
My first attempt at a P.O.V short story; hope you enjoy!
Summary: ‘While a battle you were forced to engage in pursues, your Z-Move attempt has mysteriously backfired... and now you have to pay for the consequences.’
⚠️WARNING:⚠️ Explicit language, mild violence and gore, slight sexual preferences. Read at your own caution.
The Pokémon Center now becomes a guarded fortress with the exception of other trainers coming in with their own Pokémon needing some attention and care. Several Team Skull grunts are practically covering almost every corner of the building as they were keeping watch over their boss, Guzma, who is staying at the Center for his Golisopod that is currently being treated for an extensive care and is scheduled for surgery soon. All because of you and your misuse of a powerful Z-move that mysteriously resulted in a cataclysmic impact that is now making Golisopod hanging on the brink of death itself.
Then, after an attempted battle rematch to escape, you suddenly belong to Guzma after striking a deal that would result into a madness of jokes and deprivations for you to endure while staying at the Pokémon Center with him. Already, Guzma’s gotten everyone in the building (with some of the Team Skull grunts accidentally in on the jokes) to believe you are on a ‘romantic honeymoon’ with him while staying and waiting for Golisopod to recover-- hopefully-- from his surgery, all as part of Guzma’s ‘punishments’ for you as payback for nearly killing Golisopod. While this is mostly silly, yet humiliating on your end, but it was only the beginning for your suffering under Guzma’s watch.
---------- End Interlude ----------
That same evening, you and Guzma enter the complex at the end of the hall on the third floor of the Pokémon Center; Guzma sets you down on the bed, but as you start to sit up Guzma suddenly grabs you by the throat and pins you back down on the mattress, squeezing you just enough to start choking, and at that moment Guzma speaks with a low and annoyed voice.
“Just so we’re on the same page; while you’re officially mine after our battle I have no interest in you, and I will NEVER forgive you for what you did today no matter how much you keep apologizing to me!”
Shortly, your face slowly begins to turn blue while Guzma continued but with his voice toned down slightly and his grip loosens a bit for you to breathe a little, despite you’re still being choked. “Personally, I don’t want to hurt you, but if you keep up with trying to escape me, you’ll be wishing you never set foot in Alola in the first place. In the meantime, we’re stuck together, for Golisopod to get better and back on his feet, and until then, you will do what I say and what I do with you, and you will pay for nearly killing my boy Golisopod. You got that?!”
You try to at least loosen Guzma’s grip from your neck a little more as you reply with a literal gag in your voice. “(Heave, gag) D-Duly noted!”
Guzma finally lets go of your neck and you quickly gasp and cough to finally start breathing again. Then Guzma walks over to the large window across the room that overlooks the outside of the Pokémon Center, and stands there to collect his thoughts, while you continue to massage your neck and catch your breath you also spoke to Guzma.
“Can I just (gasp, cough) say something?”
“Whatever.” Guzma remarked.
“(Sigh) Look, (wheeze) don’t get me wrong, (cough) you have every right to be angry at me; after everything I did, (cough) I deserve everything you throw at me; but just so you know I didn’t mean to hurt your Golisopod.. or even you for that matter. You may be an asshole, but I never wanted for any of this to ever happen, I was only doing what’s natural and legal when I battled you back at Malie City. Sure, I may have been overconfident when I felt I was gonna win that battle, but I guess that’s what caused the Z-Move to backfire, I don’t know; I still don’t know, really, truly, and this is definitely something I’ll regret forever.”
There was a slight silence between you and Guzma after your speech; momentarily, you concluded after another cough to clear your throat from Guzma’s chokehold earlier.
“You’re right though; (cough) no matter how much I’ll apologize I may never expect you to forgive me. I understand completely, but definitely know this will haunt me, deeply, for the rest of my life.” You explained once more, feeling a deep regret for not only your actions from today’s events, but for hurting Guzma as well. “Trust me, if it were the opposite between us, I’d be just as pissed as you are with me right now. Only, I’d probably take a blunt instrument and bash you until you wouldn’t breathe; but that’s probably just me.”
“(Chuckle) A little dark coming from you, but I weirdly like it.” Guzma chuckled, and then he turned his head to give you a small grin on his face as he feels both you and him care deeply for Pokémon.
Shortly, the door of the room knocks which caught both you and Guzma’s attention. You were about to answer, but Guzma stops you as he pushes you back onto the bed and remarked.
“Stay there.”
Guzma approaches the door and opens it to find Nurse Joy once again as she came by to return Guzma’s Ariados and your Bulbasaur from being healed and treated for the evening.
“Here are your Pokémon, all healed and taken care of!” The nurse says as she hands Guzma the pokeballs containing the Pokémon. “Just to give you a heads up, your Golisopod is resting well in the emergency room and is treated with some potions and proper foods to keep his strength up; we’ll begin the surgery first thing in the morning!”
“Thanks; at least there’s some good news.” Guzma remarked. “G’night Nurse.”
“Have a good night!” Nurse Joy replied as she begins to walk away.
Guzma locks the door of the complex and walks back over to you, tossing your pokeball back to you; and as you caught it, you summon your Bulbasaur back out just to make sure he’s okay. Your Bulbasaur stretches and shakes after being inside his pokeball for quite a long while, and then he looks up at you with a large grin on his face, feeling happy to see you again.
“Toothless! You’re alright!” You cried with relief in your voice.
Suddenly, Toothless pulls out one of his vines from his bulb and smacks you on the cheek; you figured he still didn’t forgive you for what happened at the rematch a couple hours ago when you froze during the battle as your arachnophobia took hold of you. You then apologized, hoping Toothless would forgive you.
“(Sigh) Alright, I definitely deserved that one. I’m so sorry Toothless; can you ever forgive me buddy?”
Toothless still holds the grin on his face, but then jumps into your arms and you hold, kiss, and squeeze Toothless tight in your arms for comfort, hoping this was Toothless’s way of forgiving you.
Guzma chuckles as he watched you hug your Bulbasaur in comfort. “If it makes you feel better, your Bulbasaur did put up a pretty good fight against my Ariados without hearing any of your commands.” He said with a calm voice. “Gotta respect that for a little guy like your Bulbs.”
“He is pretty strong for a level 79 stage one Pokémon.” You replied.
“Damn, you didn’t even evolve this guy yet?!”
“Just didn’t bother, and even Toothless is fine with that, aren’t ‘cha buddy?”
“Bulba!” Toothless barked with a happy grin as he continued to cuddle against you.
Momentarily, you look over at an electronic clock that’s sitting on the nightstand next to the bed you continued to sit on, and noticed the time being 11:48pm.
“Jeez, is it that late already?” You asked.
“Guess we should get some sleep.” Guzma replied. “Y’alright with sleeping next to ya boy here?”
At that moment you almost forgot that you and Guzma are spending the night in a one-bed complex that Guzma himself requested. Why he purposely asked for it was still beyond your mind.
“Personally, I still prefer to sleep in a dumpster.” You remarked with an annoyed expression.
Guzma explained once more. “Well, too bad, I asked for this so I can keep you close and keep an eye on you-- no matter what you do or even try. Remember, you’re not leaving me until Golisopod’s better, and after that, who knows?”
You let out a big sigh as you finally come to terms that you’re stuck with Guzma for the time being. Then, after Toothless hops back down to the floor from your lap, you grabbed your backpack as you headed towards the bathroom area of the room while you commented. “I need a shower then.”
While you entered the bathroom, Guzma walks over towards a dresser located across the bathroom entry as he sets his Pokémon team down on the left corner of the furniture, took off his watch and bracelets, sets his sunglasses down from his head, and unhooked his large medallion. Unbeknownst to you, you accidentally leave the bathroom door half open, as Guzma looks up at a medium sized mirror hanging over the dresser, and sees your reflection, your back side facing the entryway.
Guzma watches as you start stripping your clothes off at a decently slow pace, not realizing he’s watching your reflection of the mirror outside the bathroom. You start as you pull your hoodie shirt off and set it to the edge of the sink, then you begin to unhook your bra, fully exposing your naked back side for Guzma to suddenly raise an eyebrow in admiration. Then you unbutton your jeans and easily push them down to your ankles and then lifting your feet out of the sleeves of your pants one foot at a time, and push the clothing to the side.
Suddenly, before you would reach your underwear to finish stripping, a long vine grabs the door handle of the bathroom door and pulls the knob to fully shut the room! Guzma looks over to see what interrupted the show and sees Toothless was actually the one who shut the bathroom door.
“Bulbasaur!” He gave an annoyed bark at Guzma, indicating him to keep his eyes to himself.
“What? I was just admiring the view, that’s all.” Guzma joked as he heads back over to the bed as he takes off his jacket, shoes, and his sweatpants, leaving him in just his boxers and t-shirt.
Toothless keeps guard at the bathroom door while you showered for the next ten minutes until you opened the door and walked out drying your hair with a towel and dressed in your favorite Gengar themed t-shirt and soft fleece plain grey pajama pants. You look over at Guzma already in the bed as he teases you to come over next to him; you already feel a discomfort in just the thought of laying in bed next to the Team Skull leader in general; of course it wasn’t anything you had planned at all, but here you are. You shake off the discomfort, throw the towel to the nearest chair, and set your backpack to the corner of the nightstand on the other side of the bed from where Guzma’s located.
Your Bulbasaur already takes comfort to sleeping at the end of the bed, while you try to get yourself comfortable as you set yourself on your right side of your body without facing Guzma, and then you grab one edge of the blanket to cover yourself for warmth. Guzma does the same to get himself comfortable, but laying on his left side of his body and not facing you as well. Overall, you and Guzma just settled in bed for the night and finally drift off to sleep.
----------
You awaken to a strange sound; looking over at the alarm clock on the nightstand, which read 4:37am, and then you look at Guzma who is snoring like a Snorlax in a coma, which you figured at that moment is what woke you up in the first place. You try your best to fall right back to sleep, but a side of your brain figured this is actually the right opportunity to finally attempt in escaping Guzma one more time.
Despite you still feel guilty for what you did to Golisopod, the rational side of you just couldn’t handle any more thoughts of you being stuck with Guzma, deal or no deal, you just had to get away.
Easily and quietly, you gingerly slip out of bed and grab your backpack and tennis shoes; you tiptoe around the corner to get Toothless’s attention, waking him and whispering to him that you and him are finally leaving the Pokémon Center. Toothless cocks his head to the side with a worried expression, but he follows you still ever so soundlessly until you approach the main doorway of the complex.
Realizing that the door is locked, you take a very soft and deep breath and gently begin to twist the knob of the locking mechanism with extreme discretion; then silently, you only hear the most faintest and tiniest of clicks coming from the lock after fully turning the knob to it’s open state, which suddenly made you worry of even that particular sound could nudge Guzma to wake up. You and Toothless look back over to Guzma, who is still lying motionless on the bed and still snoring deeply, checking to see if he’d budge.
Luckily, he didn’t.
You let out a very small sigh, but the job wasn’t finished yet. You and Toothless start to sweat with suspense, yet at the same time you start to gingerly grab hold of the handle of the door, turning it clockwise very slowly and tenderly until another tiny clink in the knob is heard and you turn your head once more, seeing Guzma still sleeping on the bed without moving a muscle.
Finally, you easily hold the doorknob in its current position, while taking your free hand and place it palm side down on the flat surface and very smoothly but very gradually open the entry panel.
Without warning, you suddenly see a large hand instantaneously push the door closed!
SLAM!!!
You yelped in fear, while Toothless also howled in fright and swiftly runs back to the bed, but hides under the furniture this time. You backed yourself against the corner of the wall next to the doorway as Guzma looms over you with another of his annoyed and pissed off looks on his face as he asks while he cornered you.
“Where do you think you’re going at this hour, hm?!”
Nervously, as well as sweating in terror, you replied. “Eh-- uh-- J-Just to get some... f-fresh air???”
Guzma truly doubted you and suddenly grabs you by the neck again, but this time he didn’t choke you; instead he reaches over to his pants which he put away earlier next to his accoutrements on the dresser across from the bathroom. He reaches into one of his pockets as he commented.
“Good thing I’m prepared then.”
He pulls out a pair of silver handcuffs. You figured he must’ve stolen those from Officer Nanu at some point; then you swallowed some air as you had a feeling of what he was going to do next.
- - - - -
You struggled slightly as you rattle the handcuffs tied to the post of the bed; you thought long and hard of what you tried to do after Guzma dragged you back onto the bed and cuffed both your wrists tightly, and come to the fact that you’re officially stuck with Guzma until he says otherwise. It’s a reality you don’t want to face, but you don’t have much of a choice, especially now that you’re handcuffed to the bed for the remainder of the evening.
While you laid in the bed as you try to at least go to sleep again, Guzma in his sleep turns his body and unknowingly wraps an arm around your waist and repositioned his head on your left shoulder. Your face flushes a pure blush red, definitely feeling more trapped at this point and also embarrassed that he’s actually cuddling against you.
At that moment, you try not to get this unexpected twist go through your head anymore, instead you brush it off, give a final but embarrassed sigh, and finally drift off too sleep.
- - - - -
Later the next day, you and Guzma were hanging out at the main lobby of the Pokémon Center; you were on your phone reporting some documents to your mentor back in Kanto, as well as playing a couple mobile games in between work, and Toothless nuzzles beside you to keep company as you also comfort him between work and gaming; meanwhile, Guzma was just sitting close to his prisoner, both keeping his eyes on you and was also in deep thought of Golisopod, and hoping he’s doing well.
You look back up to Guzma as you thought of your attempts last night and felt guilty for it as you spoke. “Listen, I’m sorry I tried to get away last night; (sigh) I guess the rational side of me just wanted to really escape and never look back.”
Guzma looks back and replies with a slight snark in his voice. “Let’s not go through that again, but if you do try again, you’ll definitely be sorry.”
“Yeah, read ya loud and clear.” You remarked with an eyeroll after listening to Guzma’s potential threats again.
You suddenly feel a bit hungry after a few minutes and decide to head to the Center’s café across from the lobby with Toothless jumping off the bench to follow you, but Guzma grabs you by your left wrist as he thinks you’re trying to get away again, and gives you another annoyed look on his face.
“Will you relax, I’ve already learned not to ever escape you again,” You reminded him. “I’m just going to the café to get something to eat; you want anything, I’ll bring it to you. Sheesh!”
Guzma grips tightly onto your wrist as he gets up from the silver bench the both of you were sitting at. He pulls you close as he replies. “No need, that’s why I’m coming with you.”
“Of course you are.” You mocked slightly but shrugged it off as you and Guzma both headed for the café.
For over an hour you two managed to have lunch together while you both continued to wait more for Golisopod’s surgery to finish, which in the nick of time, after finishing your meal, Nurse Joy finds you and Guzma at the café with some paperwork in her hands.
“Excuse me, Miss-- o-or rather Mrs...?”
You interrupted as you remembered Guzma’s punishment for being ‘married‘ to him and kindly tell the Nurse not to call you that. “Yeah, uh, please don’t struggle yourself with that. What can I do for you?”
Nurse Joy explains while trying to remember if you and Guzma are actually a couple or not, but also tries not to think too hard of it. “Oh, I’m actually here to remind you and your, er partner I suppose, that Golisopod’s surgery is doing well so far, but it may take a little more time as you know his hard outer shell is quite difficult to piece together after how you explained of your Z-Move incident.”
“Which also brings to mind about the bill regarding your stay and your Pokémon's healthcare.”
The nurse hands you the paperwork of the cost for both Golisopod’s surgery and you and Guzma staying at the center for the possible next few days. You take a study through the sheets of paper and struggled to find the right words for the extensive costs that you may have to pay for, after all it’s (no harsh feelings) your fault for Golisopod to be in this mess.
“Pfrkskght!!!” You curse under your breath, but calmed down after looking at the bill then look up at Guzma with an annoyed expression. “(SIGH) I suppose this’ll count as another punishment?”
Guzma giggles while taking a sip of his Tapu Coacoa. “Meh. Call it a bonus on your end.”
You groaned by Guzma’s answer and then you grab your phone to make a couple calls while replying to the Nurse who continued to stand next to you waiting to finish the paperwork. “(Grunt) Guess I’ll have to call Oak and Kukui about my next paycheck if I ever get out of this.”
While you make a couple contacts and continue filling the paperwork, Guzma rolls his eyes and give a sigh, now feeling very bored of the current predicament you’re going through.
Then, Guzma takes another look at you, almost longer than he’d normally do, and then the fuzzy memory of watching you undress in the bathroom through the mirror last night weirdly came back to him. Admittedly, he thought you looked pretty hot the way you undressed, and how beautiful you look in his eyes before he was rudely interrupted by Toothless. Guzma even started looking back to the first day he met you back at Malie Gardens, way back even before Golisopod’s injuries, he took a deep interest in you especially after battling for the first time, and almost after that... he was actually taking a liking to you.
At that moment, Guzma developed an idea to make your current bill paying a little more interesting.
Underneath the table you and Guzma were sitting at, Guzma slips off one of his sneakers and slowly lifts his foot towards your left ankle, lightly taking a brush to the side of your pant sleeve. You haven’t even felt it yet, but then Guzma slouches slightly into the chair he’s sitting in as he continues to lift his foot and slowly but lightly rub up against your leg. At this point you were trying to brush off the unusual touch as you keep your concentration on writing off the bills. Then, Guzma reaches his foot up to the edge of your thigh and lightly presses and rub against it, while you start to feel the sensation but try not to reach under the table as you didn’t want the nurse next to you to see what was going on; so you continue the paperwork instead.
Then, Guzma’s foot finally reaches the edge of where your clit is, and almost instantly, he shoves his toes under the brim of your pants and rubs it back and forth. The shove causes you to accidentally twist your writing hand on one of the papers to leave a large black line with the pen you were holding, and the other hand to grab the edge of the table in a twitch. You held in a scream after feeling that forced push to your nether regions, which at that moment made Nurse Joy notice your shuddering.
“A-Are you alright?” She asked with a worried tone.
You struggled to answer with a squeak in your voice. “I-I’m cool, really! Heh, no problem at all!” Then, you looked at Guzma with an irritated expression as you instantly figured out what was causing those weird touches to your leg, thigh, and now clit.
Guzma gives a sinful grin to you as he takes another sip of his drink, feeling no regret at this point whatsoever.
In fact, he was only just getting started.
He continues to thrust his foot back and forth against your clit, rubbing your jeans very seductively, but you try your best to fight the sensation while continuing the paperwork. Then Guzma lifts his foot up to reach over your thigh again, but this time he extends underneath your shirt, rubbing your lower stomach that starts to send chills up your spine while you continue to resist the urge to make any unpleasant noises.
You try your hardest not to give in to Guzma’s foot playing, but it’s only getting worse to a point that Guzma takes his other foot and starts rubbing against your other leg, repeating the same pattern until he reaches your clit, and starts thrusting his toes against it, which started to make you cringe a little more.
You bite your lower lip as you continue to hold back the moans and grunts you were about to make as Guzma continued to grind his feet against you, and at the same time your free hand clenches and scratches the edge of the table while you try to steady your writing hand to continue the paperwork Nurse Joy continues to wait on. You skirmish a little more, bucking your hips against Guzma as he now takes both feet against your nether regions, approaching to the point where you’re about to come, while you manage to finish off the bills as quick as possible, until finally, as brisk as a Jolteon you hand Nurse Joy the now completed files and you immediately grab Guzma’s ankles to finally stop him from rubbing you.
Nurse Joy goes through the completed work to make sure everything is in order; then she give her usual happy expression as she remarks. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation; I’ll be sure to keep you two up to date on Golisopod’s progress.”
You grind your teeth, sweat nervously, and your left eye twitches as you replied. “Sure. Good to know.”
Within a minute after Nurse Joy gleefully walks away to her work post, you finally snap at Guzma, smacking your hands on the table as you stood up from the chair you were sitting on.
“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ABOUT?!?!?!”
At that moment however, your legs tremble by the sudden sensations after feeling Guzma’s feet under your pants and you feel yourself drop to your knees on the floor while keeping part of your upper body and arms on the edge of the table; you feel yourself come after desperately holding it in for that whole event, leaving your pants wet from Guzma’s grinding.
Guzma smirks after you quiver against the table and remarks with a smug voice. “What, I got bored while you were writing all that shit for the Nurse.”
“Oh like you ever paid a bill in your life!” You replied, deeply pissed than before.
“(Chuckle) Don’t act like you didn’t enjoy it either sweetie. I saw a glint in your eyes; you were enjoying it as much as I did.”
You smacked your hand against your face, hiding some of the embarrassment that, admittedly at one point while you filing the paperwork, you did felt the need of Guzma grinding against you with his feet, but at the same time it just wasn’t the right moment and not to mention you were still feeling a dislike towards Guzma.
“You. Are the most. SELF-CENTERED! RECKLESS!! INCONCEIVABLE JACKASS!!! I’ve EVER met in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!” You cried as your face flushed the reddest of blush you’ve ever made and then slam your face against the table to hide your shame; meanwhile, your Bulbasaur, who had no idea what was going on during the whole conversation, notices your flustered enragement and begins to comfort you.
Guzma gives you a couple minutes to breathe out your frustrations and finishes his drink. He gets up from the chair afterwards and walks up to you as you continue to kneel on the floor; he starts to wrap a large arm around your waist while he spoke. “C’mon, I’ll help you clean up.” And while he takes the other arm to lift your legs together, he almost feels your juices bleed through your pants while you wrap both your arms around his neck to hold onto him, burying your face deep within his shoulder to continue hiding your degradation from the public’s eyes, which some of them either witnessed your outburst or ignored them.
“Wow, you really got yourself wet for me, didn’t you?” Guzma joked as he felt some of your extract bleed from your pants while he carried you.
You muffled with an annoyed tone. “Fuck you, I fucking hate you so fucking much!”
“I know you do baby.” Guzma snickers while he gives you a light peck against your head, and then he carries you back up to the complex room.

Best story today! In the ground floor of the tearoom there was a couple sat in the corner, perfectly lovely, enjoyed some sandwiches and drinks in happy conversation most of their time there. Near the end however one got a message and tells the other and then they’re both crying. Oh no! I go over to remove the empty plates and ask if they’re okay and if they’d like any more serviettes. They say yes to serviettes and tell me their son just got engaged! They’d been in cahoots with the fiancée since March and had thought she got cold feet about it. They’re in Alola for a festival concert event and I’m guessing she proposed there! Congrats to those 2 if they ever read this!

What is it like raising misdreavus? Is it true that misdreavus like to yank people hair?
Hi, thank you for the question!
Oh my gosh, it's a dream come true! I've loved them since I was 13 years old, I always wanted to work with ghost pokemon and Misdreavus just stole my heart from the minute I found out what they are.
It gets a little chaotic around here... (Okay. It gets a LOT chaotic around here.) And it can get noisy. Definitely spooky. And they can't always resolve their spats; they're KIND of social, but they don't really establish hierarchies or leaders, so when a couple of them get into a disagreement, they usually need someone to mediate, but other Misdreavus aren't naturally inclined to do that, so I need to keep a close eye on them. (Or one of the Mismagius, or Ninetales.)
And sometimes they're a little bit... mean. They're not a species that instinctually bonds to a human on sight. You have to work a bit to earn their trust, and work even more to earn their respect. You have to try to meet them where they are, appreciate them for what they are. You can't train a Misdreavus and expect it to be as cuddly as an Eevee. And in the case of those that have been spurned before (a lot of people dislike ghost Pokemon and mistreat wild ones): you have to help them understand that you trust them, too!
They're a handful, honestly. But when you get six ghosts collaborating on pranking a Murkrow and you've spent a week noticing Something Weird Is Going On, and then you see them pull it off, it's absolutely delightful.
And their laugh? Oh my gosh, it sets my heart aglow! They're so joyful when they're happy! They're not for everyone, they need a tactful hand and they need someone who can "socialize" on their level and engage in their "play" and laugh with them, and they need to be able to express their natural behaviors, which are undesirable for some people, but they're perfect for me.
As for yanking hair: The short answer is Yes, to a degree!
The long answer is that it kind of depends on the individual, and the region they're from seems to affect their preferred methods of harvesting fear. (I rambled a bit, so here's a cut!)
It's a more common behavior in Misdreavus than other species, that's for sure. Misdreavus don't have... hands, exactly. They have sort of prehensile and expressive capabilities with the front two strands of their "hair", but a good amount of their physical interactions with the world are through their mouth. If they want to get a human's attention and haven't been taught how to communicate gently, they're more likely to pull hair, yeah.
I've noticed that Sinnoh Misdreavus pull hair mostly to create the shocked reaction, whether that's to snack on the fear or simply to amuse themselves. Johto Misdreavus seem to do it more for territorial reasons. And the Misdreavus I brought home from Alola is... well. He's on the far side of the serious scale and uses intimidation to create fear, I've never seen him pull ANYONE'S hair.
Now, bear in mind that I really only got to be around Johto Misdreavus for one night. (The circumstances were... shhhh. I had help.) But in that ONE NIGHT, a wild Misdreavus pulled my hair so hard it took my Murkrow and Ninetales tag-teaming to get it to let go!
But the thing is, different individuals have different "scare tactics" they'll employ! Not ALL of them pull hair. Trick pulled my hair (playfully) when I first met him, but then: I have one named Screech who likes to startle folks by shouting as loud as he can, Thorn uses Mean Look a lot, Sheera uses the psychological angle by going invisible and mimicking a human crying. They all have a favorite method.
As a fun little aside, I was able to "modify" this behavior with my first Misdreavus, Missie, to help me brush my hair! I have really long hair, and I have a very scattered brain some days. Sometimes I forget to brush it, and sometimes it gets very tangled. So imagine trying to use one hand to run a brush through it, another to detangle the knots. Now, imagine all of that while my skin is really sensitive, so I wince when it pulls too hard, so I also try to hold the hair near the roots so it doesn't pull as much, but I can't do that and get at the knots at the same time AND brush through it... Basically I trained Missie to bite on my hair gently near the scalp, and rather than pulling it, just hold it where it is!
But she's more of a friendly Misdreavus. With a more mischievous one, this could lead to a lot more yanking pranks. Like I keep saying, it just goes back to their individual personalities.

“books-are-my-life-stuff: Even if Variety Scout can be considered as a testing ground to see if character is popular enough, it still feels pointless to pull when DeNA puts little effort at it. I agree that it's a lame and blatant cash grab, to showcase that DeNA might be getting a little greedy and desperate, especially with so many sync pairs thrown around AND Master Fair rerun every month.“
I think the problem is that they likely flatlined.  The problem with a gacha model is that you need incentive to pull for every new tool, and Gauntlet, while mildly successful, didn’t hook too many people.  The new Limited CS is another attempt, but I imagine it’s still not successful because they’re trying to make the game accessible.  My understanding is it almost failed early on due to poor practice as a game, and they’re likely wary of stepping out of line all at once.  But it won’t surprise me if we inevitably encounter a mode that is pure pay to win, because gacha almost has to have that.  Variety scouts are likely another attempt to monetize in some direction by putting low-cost options in for fans of these less popular characters, but it’s not sticking.  I don’t really know what the solution is.  It should be “Your profits have gone up, be satisfied with the customer base you have and continue to treat them well,” but this is a company we’re talking about.
“Zinfogel did say on his stream that he's busy working, so he didn't have much time to upload nowadays, but if he is burning out of the game, I can't blame him. Same goes for Skippingmud, who now only posted whenever they can. The game feels stale nowadays. I might be burning out of the game too, I felt that sign since last two (or three?) gauntlet when I didn't feel like racking up win streaks, but it only hit me when Alola VA happened and I was disappointed at it.”
Yeah, it shows up sometimes.  I dunno.  I think the engagement can wax and wane, and I think it’s important to follow the waning periods and take a step back, rather than double down.  Speaking of which...
“I was surprised when you pulled for the Tapus even though you had said you didn't like them, so that was what you meant by giving in to your impulses.”
>_>
It’s a lesser form of the situation I had in FEH.  Here, it is more of a “I got really lucky, and love field effects,” but I was fully prepared to drop Lana if things didn’t go well, and only wanted a copy of Hau and Mina.  The game decided to toss me duplicates in the same multi.  Mina was on the chopping block if Hau didn’t go well.  The real failure on my impulses was Agatha, who I had no real business pulling for, but did because “Hey, things have gone really well and I want to.”  But for a boring month, you’re right, this should have been my time to save.  I didn’t, because I wanted to have what I considered fun tools, and have walked away with Hau and Mina feeling really disappointing.  So it’s...not my best work.  It’s definitely been worse, FEH built up a terrible level of impulse in me during the pandemic, but it’s a feeling that’s gotten better with time, and I consider this more of a relapse than a full breakdown.  Good luck should be a sign to conserve, not pull for other things, and I did not heed that.  Now gem prices are going up and Master Fairs are going to happen next month.  Sure hope nothing bad happens!

“helping me with the suitcases would be appreciated” Gary muttered with their suitcases in both hands “oh yeah, sorry about that babe” Ash laughed taking his bags from Gary the two reached the sandy floors and then Ash grabbed Gary’s hand for a second before saying
“this is a special place to me and a second home since, we already share a home together i want to share my second home and special place with you because you’re my special person” Ash said with a smile getting an endearing smile from Gary
“that’s very sweet of you to say Ash” Gary said touching Ash’s cheek lightly, Ash smiled at the touch grabbing that hand and giving it a kiss
“alright first we’ll rent a car real quick, then I wanna visit Professor Kukui and Burnet, since with school and all they couldn’t come to the wedding unfortunately. Also because I want you to meet Lei” Ash grinned getting a nod from Gary
“okay! We’re here!” Ash smiled about to open the door till Gary held him back “shouldn’t you knock or let them know we’re here? It doesn’t seem right to just barge in” Gary shrugged
“Gary this is my second home. I practically live here by spirit” Ash snorted, getting a sigh from Gary who saw Ash turn the knob
“I’m home!” Ash called out with Gary behind him who spotted a little boy run to Ash
“Boo!” the boy giggled hugging Ash who grinned “Leí!” Ash laughed carrying the boy spinning around with him “damn you’ve grown a lot!” Ash laughed again putting the boy down
“well it’s nice to see you back!” a voice then said, Ash turned around and grinned again “professors!” he said hugging the two who commented on how much Ash had grown
“so aren’t you gonna introduce us?” Kukui smiled seeing the researcher still at the front door “oh yeah” Ash laughed going over to Gary
“well as I’ve mentioned, I had a boyfriend who became my fiancé and now we got married” Ash smiled “so yeah this is Gary, a pokemon researcher!” Ash smiled
“it’s nice to finally meet you” the professor smiled at Gary who shook his hand “in vise versa” he smiled shaking both of their hands
“so yeah, this is Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet, and their son Lei” Ash smiled pointing at all go them as he reintroduced everyone to Gary who lightly waved at Lei who was by the sofa with a finger in his mouth
Leí then laughed and ran to Gary hugging him
“aww” Ash laughed teasingly seeing Gary hug the boy back
“I brought him something, if it’s okay with you guys” Gary smiled seeing both Professor’s smile “yeah of course go ahead”
Gary smiled and bent down getting something from his bag
“this is a pokemon watch it gives you information about any pokemon you want and even any region” Gary explained to the boy who gasped “thank you!” he squealed hugging Gary who laughed “you’re welcome” he laughed again before getting up with Lei in his arms, carrying him
“so we’re gonna head to the beach and relax, we’ll talk to you guys later when we get a chance” Ash smiled at the pair who nodded “yes of course go ahead, I hope you enjoy Alola Gary” Professor Kukui smiled at him who smiled back “yeah I’m sure I will” he grinned, putting Lei down
“I’d like to discuss some of your research, when you have time of course” Kukui smiled again getting an excited smile from gary
“I mean yeah! Why not!” he grinned
“we’ll get going then” Ash smiled turning to the door with Gary behind him before Gary felt a tug at his shirt turning to see Lei
“Ash I think he wants us to stay” Gary whispered to Ash “we can take him with us if you don’t mind”
“not at all” Gary smiled, receiving a smile back Ash then turned to Professor Kukui “hey is it okay if we take Lei along?”
“yes, just take care of him” he smiled at Ash who grinned carrying Lei
“alright, now we’ll go” Ash grinned as the three left
“I call drivers seat!” Ash then said racing to the drivers seat “Ash you’re kidding right? I’m the one who’s gonna be driving” Gary said trying to get Ash off the seat “no!” Ash said holding onto the seat “Ash I am serious get off!” Gary yelled having Ash obey “fine!” he muttered rolling his eyes then sitting Leí on a seat before they drove off
“hm there’s no people here today” Gary commented seeing the empty parking lot, Ash then grinned “that’s because I reserved the beach for the two of us. well more like the three of us” Ash laughed looking out the window “you reserved this place?” Gary turned to Ash with confusion written all over his expression “mhm” Ash nodded proudly with his arms crossed
Gary then blinked again “don’t you think that’s a little . . . greedy? I mean it’s Alola and it’s hot I’m sure there people and kids that want to be in the water all day” Gary shrugged
“I only reserved it for two hours, after that people can start coming” Ash shrugged out if the car “if you say so” Gary sighed following Ash who held Lei in his arms
“Gary aren’t you gonna swim??” Ash questioned seeing Gary inflating his swimming lounge
“yeah I will, I just want to relax for a bit” Gary smiled putting the lounge at the shore and getting his sunglasses from his bag
after tossing his shirt aside he lied on the lounge that started floating on the water
“I also wanna work on my tan” he smiled putting a smoothie on the cupholder
“what’s in the cup?” Ash tilted his head blinking with a smile
“it’s a cucumber, broccoli, green pepper, and cactus smoothie” Gary smiled seeing Ash give off a disgusted face
“it’s supposedly good for your skin” Gary smiled taking a sip “I mean you don’t need any of that your skin looks good” Ash shrugged
“oh I know I look great, but I want to look BETTER” Gary grinned as Ash lifted an eyebrow “okay . . . “ he mumbled swimming with Lei some more
After a little bit in the water Ash looked over at Gary and grinned “so I wanted to do something fun Lei” Ash grinned “like what?” the boy giggled “I brought a two water guns, what do you say we give Gary a little wake up call?” Ash laughed as the boy nodded excitedly in return as Ash went to get the water guns still seeing Gary distracted
“okay now we got it all filled up, be careful Lei okay? We want to be sneaky” Ash whispered looking over at Gary again
“okay let’s go” Ash said running to the shores jumping in it with Lei behind him
“okay you go on his left side I’ll go in his right side okay?” Ash grinned at the little boy who obeyed and the two went underwater and swam to their positions
staying underwater a bit more Ash gave the 10 year old boy a thumbs up and with that they leaped out of the water and sprayed the water gun onto Gary’s face
“what the hell??” Gary scowled taking off his sunglasses spitting out water making the pair laugh “we just want you to swim with us!” Ash whined with puppy eyes making Gary scowl
“you’re such a baby!” he complained going back to relaxing until Ash grinned and flipped over the lounge making Gary fall into the water
“my drink!” Gary shouted seeing the smoothie cup now empty, and looked over at Ash who laughed lightly
“that’s it Ketchum, you’re dead” Gary said swimming to Ash who swam away from Gary the turns to face him
“you mean Ketchum OAK” Ash corrected with a laugh swimming away quickly but Gary caught up to him anyway from underwater
“Gary?” Ash then called out not seeing Gary anywhere
“Gary!” Ash then yelled in panic until feeling himself being held up from underwater seeing Gary who then shot water at him in his face
“hey!” Ash said after spitting out the water and scowling at Gary
“that’s what you get for spilling my drink and ruining my relaxing time” Gary grinned holding Ash by his waist with the water gun to his face
“well I wasn’t THAT mean to you” Ash rolled his eyes making Gary laugh squirting the water gun lightly in his face
“okay okay stop!” Ash pouted pushing it away making Gary laugh, “oh you owe me new sunglasses by the way” Gary grinned at him making roll his eyes
“hey Lei you like chicken sandwiches?” Gary then called out to the big who was making a sand castle by the shore
“okay lunch is serve you two!” Gary grinned calling for the two after finishing making the chicken sandwiches
“oh I’m there! Come in Lei!” Ash smiled jogging to the table with Lei behind him
“I prepared it with mayo and lettuce is that okay?” Gary smiled at Lei
“yeah!” he grinned taking a mouth full of the sand which saying ‘ah’ opening his mouth wide while he was at it, Gary grinned and looked over at Ash who was stuffing his face
Ash leaned back on the chair putting hands on his stomach “Gary is a five star chef huh Lei?” he turned to the boy who nodded sipping juice
“why thank you” Gary smiled pinching Ash’s cheek making Ash grin
After dropping Lei back home Ash gave directions to Gary to go to a beach house
“and we’re here!” Ash smiled hopping out the car with Gary behind him
“so you rented this beach house for the honeymoon?” Gary smiled looking around after Ash opened the door
“well actually . . . I bought it!” Ash grinned
“Ash we have a house in pallet . . . “ Gary clarified lifting an eyebrow
“I mean I bought it but, it’s more for vacation purposes!” Ash grinned and grabbed Ash’s hand “let me show you around!”
“so here’s the dining room and kitchen, the cozy living room” Ash smiled
“a liquor cabinet!”
“we don’t even drink”
“yeah you’re right, I know! maybe we can convert it into a juice cabinet!”
“there’s no such thing” Gary laughed “then we invented it” Ash grinned back
“and three bedrooms!” Ash smiled “you can pick which room you want us to sleep in” the trainer then smiled
“yeah cool. But why three bedrooms?” Gary asked then taking a sip of water
“oh I was just planning ahead, it can be for the kids when they come around” Ash smiled leaning on the wall, Gary then choked on his water making Ash go up to him patting his back
“Gary are you okay??”
“yeah I’m just taken back by that comment” Gary said clearing his throat
“oh sorry, I mean we don’t have to have kids if you don’t want to” Ash shrugged fiddling with his fingers “though I’ve always wanted to be a dad . . . “
Gary shook his head “no it’s not that I mean not against the idea just never thought about that kind of stuff” the researcher scratched his head
“guess I wouldn’t mind one” Gary then shrugged with a smile causing Ash to smile
“anyways that’s future thinking, I want to show you around Alola we gotta go my friend Mallow’s restaurant for dinner tonight, you’ll love it! Oh! and I want you to meet tapu koko!” Ash smiled grabbing Gary’s hand
“yeah let’s do that! I really would like to analyze tapu koko” Gary smiled again “sweet! Let’s go!” Ash said as the two left
“isn’t the sunset pretty?” Ash smiled as the two sat by the shore with tapu koko roaming around them “yeah, never thought tapu koko would be so beautiful in person” Gary smiled at the pokemon who floated around him
“I think it’s a fan of you” Ash grinned, Gary smiled in response and watched the pokemon fly around
“you know before I participated in masters eight, I came here to Alola and watched shores. I even promised to tapu koko and all my Alolan family I’d do my best in the tournament” Ash said looking at the sun which rays glistened his eye color making Gary admire his eye color
“and now I’m here with you” Ash smiled holding Gary hand, the researcher smiled and leaned on Ash’s shoulder with a smile as Ash held him close
“isn’t it crazy how we’re always looking at the sky together?” the trainer then smiled down at Gary “yeah, guess it’s a love language of ours” he said looking far into the shores clashing with one another
“I always remember the day we left on our journey, it pounded rain and I tried protecting Pikachu from a bunch of Spearow” he began
“and I remember the sky cleared and there was a rainbow and I remember seeing a Ho Ho flying right by it, and I remember wishing to become a pokemon master” Ash smiled, Gary then gasped lightly lifting his head off Ash’s shoulder “what’s wrong?”
“I remember seeing Ho Ho on my first day of my journey and it’s just as you said it, I remember my Squirtle, well my now Blastoise and I were trying to catch a Pidgey, but the rain started and we had to go to a nearby cave, and unfortunately I never caught that Pidgey but I remember when the sky cleared and the came up, I saw Ho Ho myself” Gary said gently making Ash smile putting a hand on his cheek
“it was the same day you saw that full moon” Ash smiled as Gary nodded kissing him lightly
“honestly . . . I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I would watch the moon when thinking about you. In Kanto, Johto, leading all the way to Sinnoh and Galar” Gary smiled
“just like when you were gonna compete in the sinnoh league and the first round matchups were made I couldn’t sleep, it reminded me of the silver conference and I wasn’t even gonna compete in the sinnoh league!” Gary laughed
“but I remember looking at the moon and thinking about that talk in johto and how I told you there was so many opportunities awaiting for us in the future and we were experiencing them”
“thinking about that night, and knowing you defeated me in johto which was what you always wanted made me think that . . . you would pull through and get your wishes to come true. Though you didn’t win the sinnoh league you defeated Paul. Though I wasn’t your rival anymore I knew that was something you really wanted, more since his history with Infernape”
“yeah, and what’s crazy is that . . . teh night before my first round in the sinnoh league against Nando, I couldn’t sleep, and I kept thinking and thinking” Ash smiled, “I guess I was too overly concentrated I forgot about how I experienced a night like that with you” Ash smiled and grabbed Gary’s hand
“thank you Gary, for everything” Ash smiled
“I don’t always appreciate you because I’m not good with words, but as much as I’ve had many important people and friends throughout my journey none of them ever helped me more than you did, you’ve always been my wake up call” the trainer smiled with gentle eyes and holding his partner’s hand still
“same to you, I love you” Gary smiled, “I love you so much more” Ash smiled as the two kissed under the Alolan sun, nit being able to do nothing more but anticipate their near future together, from rivals to actual lovers.
because like Gary said always, there is many opportunities awaiting for them in the future and things they never thought about.
just like finding a soulmate in each other.

Enter: BroBro, Princess, and Pigeon/Evo: Einstein/Vs: Team Yell Grunts
After Hop left, I wanted to go back to Wedgehurst since I only had 5 potions. When I arrived, a nearby conductor announced that the train to the Isle of Armor has arrived, and asked for everyone with an Armor Pass to board the train. I checked my bag and found that I had both an Armor Pass and a Crown Pass. I don't remember purchasing these, when did I get those?
I ignored my thoughts and went to talk to the conductor. He was talking to a tall, skinny guy with a large hat, bright colored clothing and floating pokeballs. While they were talking, a Slowpoke walked into the station. But this one is different from the ones I've seen in Alola, its forehead and the tip of its tail are yellow. I got close to the little guy and looked at him. The conductor asked me to catch him, so I engaged in a battle with the slowpoke. After a couple of hits back and forth and a few failed captures, I caught it in a Pokeball. I decided to name her BroBro, since I know Slowpoke evolve into Slowbro. Even if it looks a little different, I'm sure the evolution is the same.
After capturing BroBro, the tall hat man complimented me on capturing Slowpoke. The conductor chimed in with approval of the stranger's Armor Pass and asked him to board the train. As he was on his way, he explain that the Isle of Armor is a nearby Island with Pokemon that aren't normally in Galar. With that, he left.
I bought a couple of potions and Pokeballs and went back to the Wild Area Station. As i was leaving the station, the lady at the door gifted me 5 Poke Dolls in case i get chased by a powerful Pokemon.
Looking out into the fields of the Wild area, the place looked beautiful. I saw Hop at the gates waiting for me. We both looked of and saw the city of Motostoke up ahead of us. Sonia appears from behind and Hop spots her. Sonia complains about her grandma telling her she has no life. But she told us to ignore her rambling and asked us about the Pokemon from the woods. She wants to know more so she can make a huge discovery and get approval from Magnolia. Sheesh...
After some talking, Hop went off to "stick his head in as many raid dens as possible." After Hop left, Sonia gifted me the Pokemon Box Link, letting me access the PC from anywhere. That is really useful! Now is the start if my Real Adventure.
(Character Break: This is how I'll deal with the Wild Area. There are a total of 16 different areas in the Wild area, so I'll choose 2 areas to get encounters from before every gym. 8x2=16, so it makes sense to me. There's also going to be the Isle of Armor, but I'll only go there after i get my 1st badge. The Crown Tundra is going to be Postgame, so I'll go hog wild on encounters.)
The 1st area i wandered into was the Rolling Fields. While wandering in the nearby Grass, i was met with a little Bounsweet. I remember having a Steenee back in Alola named Queen, so I decided to capture Bounsweet and name her Princess.
(Character Break 2: I'm thinking of using Raid Dens as either encounters or gring areas for TRs, exp candy, and Dynamax candies. If the area's Raid den has a purple beam and the pokemon is one I like, that'll be my encounter for the area. Regular Dens are only for items.)
Looking at the map I had, i was going to head to East Lake Axewell, but I saw a nearby Raid Den with a purple beam at the edge of the Rolling Fields. I go to it and look inside, with the only information being that it's a bug type. I decide to take Goldeneye with me, and challenge the raid.
When I enter the raid, the pokemon turned out to be a Shrlmet. I look to my sides and see 3 other trainers. They were Lass Ivy with a Weavile, Youngster William with a Mudbray, and Businessman Dean with a Throh. I decide to Dynamax Goldeneye and go for a Max Geyser, but Weavile hits first with an Assurance. Shelmet hits Goldeneye with a Max Overgrowth , dealing over half hp. Throh misses his Mega Punch, but Mudbray lands a Rock Tomb, lowering the speed. Next, I used Max Guard to protect myself. Assurance was used again, and Shelmet used Struggle Bug, hitting everyone else hard. Throh's mega punch and Mudbray's Rock Tomb landed. 3rd turn, Assurance and Max Geyser. Shelmate used Max overgrowth again, but targeted Mudbray, KOing it. Mega Punch Landed. This went on for a few turns, but we ended up victorious in the end, with the prize being 7 Extra Small Exp. Candies, 2 Small Exp. Candies, 2 Dynamax Candies, 1 Lum Berry, 1 Kelpsy Berry, and one TR for X-Scissor. After that, I headed Forward to East Lake Axewell.
While in the grass, I encountered a little bird known as Pidove. She was small and cute, so I caught her and named her Pigeon. After catching 2 Pokemon, I decide to stay for a bit and level up my team till everyone is level 10.
Once Einstein hit Level 10, he started evolving! Congratulations! Your Einstein evolved into Dottler! The next 3 moves he learned were Confusion, Reflect, and Light Screen.
Once everyone was up to par, I header to Motostoke (after collecting and using Watts from the dens to buy Net Balls). While entering the city, I get called on by Sonia. She calls me over to the Pokemon center for something special. She tells me about the Rotomi and how I can make my league card with it, so I decide to make mine. I also heal my Pokemon and buy 10 Heal Balls, I like the color and its effect.
When I leave the Center, Sonia is there waiting for me. She asks me if I remember WHY I'm in Motostoke. I do, it's for the Gym Challenge! More specifically, to participate in the Opening Ceremony...tomorrow. She shows me the directions on where to go to register fir the challenge and lets me explore the town until then. I look around and decide to shop at the clothing store and cut my hair.
While on my way to the stadium, I encounter Leon. Somehow, despite the huge makeover, he still recognized me. He may be bad at directions, but he sure can remember people. He thinks i look like a proper trainer and gives me a Mystic Water. He tells me where the stadium is, but points at the wrong direction. As I go up the lift, I see Hop at the stadium doors. He greets me walks with me inside.
The moment we entered, it was filled with other gym challengers, both young and old. When we approached the desk, some grandma looking person bumped Hop on their way out. The man at the desk asked for our endorsements, and when we presented ours, he was surprised that we both were endorsed by the champion. After being signed up, he asked us what our League Uniform Number should be.
"69."
"No."
"420."
"No."
"666?"
"Son of a- no."
After a bit of back and forth, I decided on the number 728, the universal Pokedex number of my first ever pokemon, Popplio. After we were set, we were told that all challengers are to stay in the nextdoor Budew Drop Inn. Hop immediately booked for the inn, leaving me behind. What a guy, ey? I leave and am guided by a League Worker to the Budew Drop Inn to stay for the night.
When I enter the Inn, I'm met with Sonia inspecting a statue in the middle if the Lobby. She wants to do more research on the Pokemon from the woods, so she figured to start researching the legends of the region. The statue in the lobby is one of the hero who once saved Galar from an event known as the "Darkest Day", where gigantic pokemon assaulted the region and the sky was pitch black. The person depicted in the statue was the one who saved the region with a Sword and Shield. After the discussion of the Legend, we decided it's tim to clock out fir the night.
Unfortunately, at the desk was a bunch of folk, who called themselves Team Yell, blocking the desk. They wouldn't move, so I challenged them to a battle. They explained their motive: they want to support one specific trainer.
You are challenged by the Team Yell Grunt!
He starts of with a Zigzagoon, but this one looks different. He has black and white fur, with red eyes. I send out Alvin to fight. He hits with a Tackle and i use Tail Whip. We than trade Tackles, with mine dealing over half hp. One final tackle takes out the Zigzagoon. I won $720.
After one grunt's defeat, he calls for others to fight me. Another one, a girl this time, steps up to the plate.
You are challenged by the Team Yell Grunt!
This time, she sends out a Nickit. I decide to use Stuff Cheeks, a move I learned while Grinding. Nickit uses a Quick Attack first however. Fortunately, the Oran Berry/Cheek Pouch combo heals up to full. We than trade tail whips and Tackles/Quick Attacks, with me being the victor. Another $720 in the bag.
Hop approached, seeing the battles going on. He decides to make the next battle a 2v2.
You are challenged by the Team Yell Grunt and the Team Yell Grunt! (ft. Hop)
The 2 opposing grunts send out Zigzagoon and Nickit, while I send out Alvin and Hop sends out Wooloo. I am hit with a Quick Attack, Wooloo uses Growl, Zigzagoon hits both of us with Snarl, and I use Tail Whip. Hop and I double into Zigzagoon, KOing it, while Hop is hit with Quick attack and I'm hit with Snarl. Next turn, Wooloo tackles, Nickit Tail Whips, and Alvin tackles. We beat both grunts and receive $1,440.
After our battles, a girl in all black approached from behind. Team Yell immediately got nervous and tried covering up what happened and also revealed the girl's name: Marnie. I guess that's who they wanted to cheer on. She apologized to Hop and I for them causing a lot of problems and sent Yell back home.
After they left, we decided to check in to our room to stay the night.
Tomorrow is gonna be one hell of a day.

Shared Verse: Pokemon
I’ve mentioned shared verses before.  This post covers the shared verse for Pokemon muses and AUs.
Note that Oak’s main verse is default, please let me know if you’d rather work with his evil plotline.
This verse contains a lot of background worldbuilding, particularly in terms of Interpol, Team Rocket, the criminal underground, and the complex relationships between them.  As usual, if any of my headcanons don’t fit with yours, we can always figure something out.
The shared verse includes:
Places
Amberia:  A small region somewhat close to Alola, sharing similar weather but rather than being colorful and lush, is very dry and mostly devoid of plant life.  They do have a rather traditional League, Elite Four, and Champion, which has been mostly stagnant and gone unchallenged for many years, due to general disinterest.
PECHEF:  The Pokemon Energy Conversion and Harnessing Experimental Facility; a once grand laboratory that now sits in ruins near Amberia’s shoreline.
People
Giovanni:  The leader of Team Rocket, of course.  Previously an Elite Four member, until war saw him stripped of his rank.
Surge:  An Electric-specialist, usually a Gym Leader but sometimes on a journey of his own.
Oak:  Previous champion of Kanto; now works a quiet life as a Pokemon researcher.
Gaster:  Once a human scientist by the name of William Gaster.  Gaster had the PECHEF built to further his studies, but only a few days after its completion there was a catastrophic accident.  Gaster was transformed into the Pokémon known as Gaster while pieces of his SOUL became the evolutionary line Gamumu, Jesteeny, and Traumedy.
Cephalofraud:  A Dark/Ground type Pokémon with the ability Water Absorb.  It looks like an octopus with a strangely humanoid abdomen, head, and arms and can be found in rivers and the ocean.
Gemuse:  An Interpol officer usually on recon duty with his partner Pokémon, Pippins the Hoppip.  Due to chronic illness, Gemuse is generally forbidden from engaging with criminals and is commonly sent as a courier between Interpol and Team Rocket.
Iroh:  A Dragon-type specialist currently serving as one of Amberia’s elite.  Not that he takes his duty super seriously; given that they maybe have one challenger a year or so.  His father currently rules as the champion.
Ozai:  A trainer who is under a lot of pressure from his father to become the next elite after Iroh takes over as Champion.  Quite frankly, he’d rather just collect bird Pokémon.
John:  Previously a hitman operating in Ryme City’s criminal underground, he’s since retired and just wants to live a peaceful life with the Houndour his wife left him.
Quentin:  The name Quentin originally referred to a Pokémon smuggler who was abusive to his Pokémon.  Unfortunately for him, his Ditto got tired of it, killed him, and took over his identity.  The name “Quentin” now refers to this ditto, unless otherwise stated.
Major:  The original Quentin’s brother, Major has made a living participating in illegal (but consensual) Human vs Pokemon fighting rings.  This did cost him his arm, but he’s made peace with it and enjoys life to the fullest with his pal, Furret.

If it helps, the actual totem fights were a lot better in ultra sun/moon. But that game's story wasn't quite as good as sun/moon, which at least had a interesting and tragic family story and lots of great theming.
But yeah. Monster hunter's just felt like a breath of fresh are recently. Since you were playing stories 1 I grabbed my copy of stories 2 and started replaying. I didnt' think i'd do that for awhile longer but here we are.
Monster Hunter Stories has made me realize just how down bad recent Pokemon games are.
Both versions of Sun/Moon are pretty bad, mostly because of that tragic story. You see, part of the reason I have SwSh, SM, and PLA at the bottom of my list of Pokemon games is because of their stories - they are overly verbose, take way too long to get through, feature characters that are either one-note, boring, annoying, or disturbingly stalkerish, and you aren't even given the option of skipping them.
You are forced to sit there and watch these characters mope around, and that's the biggest calling card of a pretentious writer: someone who is simultaneously way too proud of their own work, but are also so insecure about it that they will force players to engage with it by shoving it down the players throat, even as it becomes increasingly intrusive and unwanted.
You see, SM and USUM had a wide open opportunity to tell great stories and had a relatively decent set-up to tell them, with the game opening with Lillie escaping the Aether Foundation with Nebbie. These games had the potential to have some of the best storytelling in the franchise.
So what happened to make the stories borderline unplayable?
For whatever reason, in this story centering around a dysfunctional family with an absent father, abusive mother, a traumatized girl and her edgy brother, you, the player, don't actually play a significant role in it.
That...that's just not how stories work. When you tell a story in a game, the last thing you should do is EXCLUDE the player from being part of it. You aren't playing as Lillie or Gladion, you aren't even playing as Faba or Wicke. You're just some random kid who moved to Alola recently and got roped into being Lillie's mute bodyguard.
And as a result...I feel nothing for these people. I don't feel like I'm part of this story. There's no real reason for me to care about any of this. I'm only in this because Lillie is too much of a chicken to defend herself. I'm only in this because Gladion...couldn't do whatever it is Gladion did in that entire story.
I'm a walking camera at the end of it all. A mute, plaster-faced, goody-two-shoes camera that refuses to speak or do anything other than throw her pokemon out whenever there's a fight. I, as the player, have no personal stakes in this story.
And that's the biggest flaw with this story. If GF really wanted to tell a story about a dysfunctional family, then why is it going out of it's way to exclude us from the story?
Why aren't we playing as Lillie or Gladion? The two people for whom this story is most important to? The two people for whom this story would actually carry some weight for?
As it stands, I'm just a bystander who watches Lillie deal with her mommy issues. And...well, that's just not fun. Especially not when I've played through all four games and had to watch this story play out the exact same way every time, just with some extra Necrozma injected into the plotline for USUM.
There's no investment. There's no personal stakes. I have no agency in the plot. I'm just a stranger to these people. And the only reason the story is like this is because GF refuses to let go of their precious "Silent Protagonist." GF doesn't want any actual main characters, they just want to make a boring, bland shell of a character for the player to project onto.
And as someone - as a writer - who loves actual characters who are allowed to be important to their own stories instead of just being bodyguards to the REAL main characters? It's just not enjoyable.
Kingdom Hearts would have been terrible if Sora was just some mute husk that the player could project onto. Mass Effect would have been terrible if Commander Shepard was just some mute husk that the player could project onto.
This is why the Mystery Dungeon games have much better stories - because the protagonist is allowed to have agency. Their allowed to speak. They're allowed to have their own personality and quirks separate from the player. The main character is an actual main character.

i do wanna do more with the stations satoshi holds, the positions he has.     like, he’s the champion of two leagues, he’s on friendly terms with almost every single other champion & a number of elite four members across various regions.     he’s got a reserved spot in the kanto battle frontier as a brain which as huge a deal as a league conference win due to the low success rate at defeating the frontier.     he helped cement the alola league’s structure alongside kukui & the island monarchs in the year following the first ever conference.     he’s assisted the aether foundation in researching ultra beasts & is currently helping the sakuragi institute in its various research projects.     he’s a member of the pwc’s masters’ eight.     not to mention there’s recorded footage, as well as thousands of eye-witness reports, of him engaging in official battles with no less than three deities & winning.     i feel like there’s things to be done with all that.     whether that’s being involved in international champion or league business, or being invited to high-profile events …     he’s a big deal in the pokémon world, even if he doesn’t act like it, & he just keeps rising.

Ranting about that pokemon rp because I can't be normal anymore. We've had this going for two years. And a lot of shit happened
-All the drama from Unova and the bw games is canon + some things that we added for fun. It was with our main ocs
-we created a new region called Akkosia, with two legendaries & all. Unethical experiments & shit happened, someone was fusioned with his pokemon (it was my best friend Polaris), we overthrew the government, had to murder some evil people, took over the damned league, and had about 16 near death experiences. The whole Akkosia arc was insanely fun except that I probably cried 17 times because of Polaris alone.
And this is where it gets messy because we have like. 5 perspectives, all at once.
- had a sort of "beach episode" where our main characters spent a few days planning a festival in Alola. One of my oc (Sacha, whose best friend is Hoopa), met the love of his life (Marisa, whose best friend is Celebi). They also met Fukaku (he'll be more relevant later) *
-while this was happening, a guy from Akkosia (Mizuki) went to Kalos with his girlfriend (a former member of the Akkosia league / she was a villain but then she was spared). Most events from the Kalos games happened except like. 10 times worse. There was a second criminal organisation at work.
-Eden (former team Flare member, who was badly injured when the Supreme Weapon fired) was saved by Ringer (former member of the Black Eagles, the second evil organization) and they both had a lesbian escapade in. Spain. Where, after they got engaged, lost their house to a dramatic incident involving Darkrai (note: Darkrai used to belong to Mizuki).
-Darkrai Was caught by someone who can casually break the fourth wall, who gave an existential crisis to Eden, before she tried to find an "entertaining solution" in order to avoid catastrophes.
*going back to the main cast for a second. They went to Kalos because Sacha is looking for Hoopa's vase. Did I mention there's a cult in Kalos? Marisa traveled back in time hundred of times, in order to prevent Sacha from getting KILLED and he couldn't remember any of it
After this, they avoided problems a bit. Oh. No they didn't. Sacha and Marisa left to go on vacations in Kanto. It ended up terribly.
-Ringer faked her death. Eden joined team Rocket alongside Livio and Ekuren. They took over Kanto, became literally the best trio. Until they found Polaris (who is an escaped experiment), so Livio went ballistic (he's an experiment aswell and used to know Polaris until he abandoned him) so there was an entire arc where team Rocket was after Polaris (and they succeeded in catching him)
-The leader of team Rocket was eaten by Giratina and thus set Polaris free.
*A big cult, calling themselves "The Family" gained in influence. A small girl ran away and met the main group. Unfortunately, she's always been a bit different, but she befriended Fukaku, and they had a sibling - like relationship.
-Fukaku hunt down. And killed. All leaders of the Family. With one exception, being Mei, since she was mostly endoctrinated and not beyond reasoning
-Got tracked down by one experiment / daughter of one of the leaders (Orion), who was, in fact, spared. And who had to live with them, in order to repair her mecha
-Every single character was invited to a wedding (Sacha and Marisa). Even team Rocket.
Team Rocket got their redemption arc when the leader almost died so it's fine.
ALL THESE STORIES HAPPENING ALL AT Once and it's so hard to keep track of everything. I can't I legit cant'.
I have been mentally ill about this rp for. Years. And. Lukas. My bestie. Has the audacity to kill Fukaku after shit went down
So many character I didn't even mention Arael & Prismo, nor the Kalos dlc with Lyn & Floyd. I didn't even mention Yumeko (my boy) & Mikoto (Livio's lost brother)
So many things.
And the main characters
None of them had died thus far.
Unti' NOW.
But hey, at least I get to be happy Sacha and Pola are finally together again and this time they have something in common: they're both trans.

-- Summer Vacation ‘23: Oblivia Exploration (5)
Tumblr media
Today while explorations or resting continued, Kianga found himself staring off into the distance for good portions of the morning towards the sea. He would just... stop and stare, often encouraged by Ruko to keep up, or asked what was wrong. In the end, the hybrid had to admit he was missing his pack. He wanted to be home on the ranch with them. He... was tired of vacation, oddly enough. Sure, it gave him a chance to see things from a new light and gave everyone a chance to relax, but he was... done after the first two regions. He missed home. He missed Juno. He missed... well, he missed just being able to relax and hunt by night and prowl around Celestic Tower.
Now that he had gotten a taste of the ‘wild side’ of life, he was content to say he preferred living both as a human and as a Zoroark but by his own merits. Being a full-time Zoroark here was... not fun and not engaging enough. With that in mind, he made the decision to, while follow Ruko for as long as Ruko wanted to keep going, still check in on the group chat and ask if everyone was ready to be headed home or not. He got a response from Ashe saying she felt restless and Leon was fine to keep going, but he understood about heading home early. Grusha was all for going home, but he wanted to go to Alola afterwards to actually learn the basis of Mantine Surfing instead of just... trying it on his own without instruction.
That being said, no one was budging until it was unanimous that everyone wanted to head home because once they did, while they could get a permit to go to Almia, Fiore and Oblivia were off the table.
That being said... while the Ranger Regions were nice, there... wasn’t much they could see or do. Dare Kianga say it but he could use taking down a fifty foot tall demon at a festival of some kind.
At the thought, he laughed and if prompted by Ruko, he would only shake his head and say he’d tell him later. For now, they still had a walk to finish.

Introduction post!
Hi!
The name's Klark, and I'm an Ibal native (a region near Alola) currently teaching literature in Hoenn. I don't have a particular specialization, though I do like a lot of ghost types.
I love talking about pokemon appearances within literature. (Before anyone asks, no, having Hamlet's dad come back as a Yamask instead of any other ghost type is perfect, and I won't be taking any criticism on this one-)
Outside of studying literature, I also write, garden and occasionally, engage in pokemon battles. My partner is Dondon the Marshtomp, but I do have several other pokemon as well.
Have any literary opinions you wanna air out, or just wanna fight me on Shakespearean pokemon? You found the perfect place.
More about me under the cut :))
Trainer card:
Tumblr media
Dondon the Marshtomp (Hardy, Takes plenty of siestas)
Dondon (short for Poseidon) is the partner I got when I moved to Hoenn. He evolved during my time challenging the Hoenn gyms, but hasn't really showed interest in evolving just yet. I think he just likes being able to go indoors.
Stump the Phantump (Hasty, Alert to sounds)
One of the Phantumps that lived in my hometown. She followed me home one day and never left. She loves hanging out in my library and sleeps in her own little flower pot.
Arc the Rotom (Bold, Very finicky)
A stray Rotom my grampa found in a television he was fixing up. We were supposed to find an owner for them, but they never wanted to leave, so I kept them. Their favorite place to hang out in is my reading lamp.
Annie the Mimikyu (Brave, Likes to thrash about)
Found her at an abandoned supermall. She didn't trust me at first, so I visited her daily (I really liked Mimikyus, so I wanted to befriend her). Soon enough, she followed me home and now she's part of the team. She easily gets bored, especially when I’m busy with papers and can’t play when she wants to, but
Ezi the Umbreon (Careful, Hates to lose)
My mom gave her to me when I was a kid and is essentially my first pokemon. Because of my unhinged sleeping schedule, she evolved during the night.
David the Salamence (Serious, Proud of its power)
Originally my grandfather's pokemon, he gave David to me before he passed away. David is a very old Salamence as my Grampa found him when he was a Bagon back when my grampa was just 5 years old. He's a very competitive pokemon, and loves battling.
Other non-competitive pokemon:
Blue the Espurr
Blue was a stray Espurr that would come into my house to ask for food. She never left and is now part of the family. She doesn't like fighting, but is a big help in the house.
Gummy the Solosis
Gummy is my service pokemon and is a big help in navigating daily life. He is also wonderful company for Blue.

Remembered some things I did want to talk about for my Pokemon OCs!!
I have four OCs currently active (technically way more but shhshsh) and all four of them are related to each other. Azure and Agate are sisters, and Sun and Moon are also sisters, but the pairs are also cousins to each other! Sun and Moon's mom is the younger sister of Azure and Agate's mom.
The two moms are from Kanto. The younger sister left for Alola, where she met her future husband and decided to move there for the foreseeable future to start a family with him, thus resulting in Moon and, slightly later, Sun. Both were born after Agate and Azure were born. Agate first, then Azure, then Moon, and finally Sun lol.
The older sister met her future husband while she was still living in Kanto. He moved to Kanto from Galar for work, and met her. The two eventually married and had Agate while they were still living in Kanto. Her dad's work called him back to Galar, so the three of them picked up and moved to his home region, where they eventually had Azure when Agate was about 10. This also explains why Agate has a Kantonian accent while Azure has the local Galarian accent.
The pairs didn't get to meet each other until after Azure became Galar's Champion. Azure and Hop started looking into Champions from other regions and Azure noticed how similar the Alolan Champions look to her Aunt. When the two asked her mom, she was like "Oh yeah, those are your cousins! :D" Azure's family decided to book a little vacation to Alola to go meet the cousins, mostly from Azure and Hop's constant insistence that she and Agate should get to meet them. Hop and Raihan also got to go along for the trip since 1.) They're both basically already part of the family, and 2.) Raihan is literally engaged to Agate and should probably meet his soon-to-be wife's family lol.
