I just saw a take on zosan that was awful enough I had to block the person. They labelled their post "hot takes" and it annoyed me enough that I felt like hating on it from afar in a vague way would be less destructive than writing an entire essay in this person's comments section.

If you like treating Sanji like a babygirl - just say so. Nothing wrong with that. Don't act like uke-ifying him is accurate to his canon characterization though. If you don't like Zoro as a character, just SAY THAT. Don't act like your shitty understanding of him as a character should be common sense. Their premise was that zosan would work best as a non sexual relationship - sure I'm fine with that. Sounds like an interesting premise. Why tho?

The reasons were stupid.

1. Apparently bc Zoro is too much of a neanderthal and BC he doesn't shower frequently Sanji would never touch him blah blah (Sanji smokes ten million cigarettes a day, I assure you he doesn't smell good) y'all should stop treating him like a babygirl bc bleh Zoro stinky and likes drinking and where did that whole he's Nami's gay best friend thing come from, he isn't that, he doesn't deserve it. Okay??? First of all - last I checked babygirl didn't require certain qualifications - so fuck off? I've concluded that Zoro is the only babygirl and you can foam at the mouth all you want, I'm not changing my mind. Second of all, did you forget that NAMI can drink people under the table too?? Zoro does canonically have a very friendship/sibling-like dynamic with Nami. They argue and fight, but they care about each other. If there is anyone who would make sense as a headcanon of one of Nami's close friends? Zoro would be a candidate. Usopp I would argue would be a better option, but Zoro also makes sense. Third of all, Sanji spends all day cooking (often cooking SEAFOOD) in a three piece suit and then smoking like a chimney. He may shower more frequently than Zoro but I assure you he doesn't smell like a rose garden either. You also can't be a cook if you shy away from a little elbow grease and sweat. Getting dirty for your craft is something he understands. He also has atrocious fashion sense when it comes to clothes that are not suits and he's a lil crazy in the same way all the strawhats are but he hides it well. Sanji is a ridiculous man and I like him that way. Stop it.

2. Sanji isn't some fainting flower, and it annoys me that this person was trying to paint him that way as if it's a forgone conclusion. Their argument was that he screams at bugs, and they were using it as an argument on why Sanji is apparently a babygirl who could never top anyone (why in the world does sex position even play a factor here??). They also pinpointed that Sanji wears suits and swoons at women as a reason why he's likely not gonna top anyone and is gonna remain a virgin. Admittedly I stopped reading at that point bc I made the executive decision to block the person for my own peace of mind, so I perhaps misunderstood (I barely understood the argument in the first place) but I still don't see how any of these factors have anything to do with sex position, or a sexual relationship not working with zosan. I'm all for asexual zosan. But y'all need to stop treating Sanji like some frail twink. That man is badass. He has a strong enough kick to kill a man, his leg catches on fire, he can fucking fly, he gives as good as he gets when it comes to his interactions with Zoro, he survived years and years of abuse from his family and came out a kindhearted person with principles. He is strong af. Again. STOP. IT.

3. None of those reasons for why they wouldn't have sex make sense to me because they operate under an assumption that Sanji would find Zoro gross so obvi they wouldn't have sex. The person fundamentally misunderstood that most people who like zosan aren't there bc they want smut, they're there because Zoro and Sanji are equal and opposites and they understand each other in a very fundamental way from the moment they met. Yes, their relationship is antagonistic, but in the way that Brogy and Dorry are set up in that one episode. If you understand that, then you get that when it comes to rivals, when it comes to their competition and their interactions with each other, Sanji wouldn't give a shit about avoiding getting his hands dirty. That is not the type of person he is. Zoro is his one exception in that sense. He has etiquette and acts like a refined gentleman, and then Zoro issues a challenge and Sanji is there, IMMEDIATELY ready and willing to throw down. He swoons over women, Zoro says anything and IMMEDIATELY Sanji's attention is all on Zoro. I have to wonder if this person even fucking watched the show before deciding to pass a bunch of unfounded judgements.

Not quite sure what you're asking.. so I'll just answer in multiple ways!

My favorite movies of all time are Pixars cars 1 and 3. I cannot watch either without crying 😭 they are my absolute favorites and I hold them very close to my soul 💖

Still to this day, even after all this time, Gravity Falls is my top favorite show. Despite all the cringe I made for it back in the day- it still holds up as my most beloved show I've ever drawn about.

As for fandom, like the people? I thiiiink the FNAF fandom was my favorite to interact with..? I remember a lot of interaction with the fans in general, which meant a lot to me :)

She is indeed a kid, but that's becuase all I had to go off of was her info picture and fanart I saw of her. For some reason a lot of art I saw of Sally depicted her as this total gremlin character that's always getting into trouble.

So I thought hey! Why not make it so she fell to "Earth" as a little tot and was raised by Poppy? In present day she could be like 13-15 and her chaotic energy would make sense and be fun to mess with!

Though after watching GTlive do a vid on the Halloween update, I realize that I wrote her personality completely wrong. Sooo I miiight need to rework her entire story and character- whoops! <XDD

"He vallues his sense of honor/morals/what's right over his relationship with Mai" HOW IS THAT BAD????????? Uncle Iroh gave Zuko the cold shoulder after the Ba Sing Se fiasco, does that mean he does not love Zuko? To properly show you love someone you can't have a mind and voice of your own?

This person is either 13-years-old or the kind that doesn't understand not every romance in fiction needs to be "I'll give up on literally EVERYTHING ELSE just for you" - hell, I like that kind of romance a lot, but not all love stories need to be that.

That's part of what makes Maiko feel more realistic as a romance to me. Zuko was banished and had to see a different side of the world, Mai wasn't. Zuko is a person that naturally NEEDS to speak, or shout, his mind, while Mai was taught to basically blend into the background.

Of course they're gonna have disagreements. Of course they won't always be on the same page. Of course their idea of what their relationship and life, both as couple and individuals, should be like.

That doesn't mean they can't find a middle ground, or realize the other was right, or go "I have no fucking clue why this means so much to you, but I love you and trust your judgement."

Zuko and Mai had a ton of issues, but they worked through them - that's a far more solid foundation for a relationship, both IRL and in fiction, than one that is based purely on infactuation and never has to be tested.

As for the "he broke up with her over-text" come on, he had good reason. Mai had never given any indication that she wanted to change sides and was friends with Azula. If Zuko broke up with her in person she could have done something to try and stop him. He couldn't aford that - there's a reason he only confronted Ozai at the last second, with the fucker unable to firebend.

And for him "never sparing a thought for her" - we see the flashbacks of Zuko alone that clearly foreshadow their romance. It was HIS memories. He had not seen her in at least 3 whole years yet the time his sister pulled a prank on them both to embarass Mai for having a crush on him still stuck. He also brought her up when talking to Sokka, when he didn't know he was about to see her again.

Zuko didn't bring up Aang basically offering to be his friends in book 1 for the longest time, yet he still clearly remembered it. He did not bring up Azula until the season 1 finale, but he clearly remembered he had a sister. He never explicitly talked about his mother to ANYONE until the day of the eclipse, and we only see her in two episodes, and once again none of it was in book 1, but he still clearly loved her.

The characters don't need to bring up everything that is important to them in every single episode to show that they care because good stories tend to assume the audience doesn't have amnesia.

An analyse of Umbrella Academy s4's posters (beware of s3 spoilers, ofc)

Hi! Today, the official Umbrella Academy Instagram account published season 4 posters, and since I'm very excited about this, I'm gonna try to analyse the posters, or what I can tell about them.

It's going to be long so grab a snack if you want / can, put on a cool playlist, and let's dive down! I'm going to do it poster by poster, in the order it was posted, from the oldest post to the newest (so not in numeral order).

We can notice that the characters are cut in two, the Portal way.

Anyway. First of all: Viktor !

Ngl, I had a moment when I saw he had the masculine uniform.

But past my joyful moment, my mind went racing so fast I couldn't keep it down, I had to share my thoughts (even if there may be only one person reading me, but whatever).

First thing first, it's interesting that the first one isn't Luther but Viktor, who is, the main character of the show (or at least, that's how I see it). Or a least the most important one. (if the last scene is Viktor ending his reading of his new book, about his siblings, not only would it be a fucking good epanadiplosis but it would make me cry the hell out of me)

After all, the show open with him, following him. And nothing would happen if it wasn't for him. He's the one trying to get the family stick together, and (unwillingly) starting apocalypse (twice or thrice, shit happens).

Let's focus on the poster now. On the left, we have a clothing reminding us of the Umbrella Academy days, or rather the "how it was before the show", except they are adult, and Viktor is here shown post-transition (and not pre-, as he was in the first two seasons). What does that mean? Fuck if I know. That being said, I think it have its importance (if they wanted to put children instead, they would have, wouldn't they?). However, we can note that he is not wearing neither the boy shorts (nor girl's skirt, for obvious reasons), but some secretly third option, aka a grey pant (is it the sport pant?). He is standing out himself, as a trans man (not wearing a skirt, yet not wearing the boy uniform either, as if he wasn't fully in that category somehow? idk).

Viktor's posture is straight (lol), and I associate it with being calm, obedient (he listen to everything Reginald says (ex: take these pills), and since Reginald is perceived as a father figure, it makes sense that Viktor wants to obey him, maybe hoping he (Viktor) will be loved and recognized as valuable). And also with being like a puppet. Or a muppet. The point is: He's not free of his movement, he doesn't have free will.

His face doesn't look happy. Nor sad. Just... neutral. He's just... there.

On the right, we can't see his face, yet his posture seems way more relaxed! He's wearing casual clothes, more modern ones, adapted to the world without powers they're now seems to live at the end of season 3.

His looks reminds me of the one of Tyler Ronan from Tell Me Why, a game by the studio Don't Nod (I fucking love that game). Both characters are trans man.

Anyway. Casual clothes. Blue, like the uniform. I won't analyse that, this post is already long enough.

Tbh, I haven't saw again the last episode of season 3, so I don't remember if it was the clothes they were wearing or new ones.

Also, Viktor is holding an umbrella in his right hand, probably a reference to the Umbrella days. Like, it's a part of him, he can't leave it behind, he physically have it with him (even if he doesn't have the power).

And the Umbrella is closed, unlike the ones from the previous seasons's posters.

Like, season 2's were opened (and full), and season 3's were opened and damaged (and they were hiding the protagonists' faces, showing implicitly the influence of the academy on them).

Next one, Luther !

We almost can see his face on the right!

But anyway, let's start by the left. Luther is walking, straight, in what could be either a military walk or a relaxed one (? don't quote me on this please, I can't explain). His posture screams "confidence" and "I'm number one, I'm a leader, follow me!". Or something like that, I'm no posture reader, just someone who watched way too much police and detective shows. He's wearing the Umbrella uniform (and it's so fucking weird to see it on a grown ass man!). His hair are cut short.

On the right, he's wearing a more casual look. There's something going one with his arm muscles, but I can't be bother to search what. His hair are longer than on the left. He is wearing gloves and an umbrella, and walking shoes. His umbrella is cutting his name (does it have some symbolism? Maybe.)

He's still wearing blue (like Viktor), even if it's a different kind of blue (and it kinda fit him).

Nothing more to add. (yes, I have my favorites, and despite liking Luther, I won't kill my eyesight anymore than necessary for details).

Next! Diego!

Let me preface this by saying that it's so fucking weird to see him in that uniform. On the left, he's walking like a good little soldier, following the leader.

On the right, he's the embodiment of a relax guy who can (and will) definitely yeet you out of the picture if needed. He's not wearing anything casual. It's more like a killer / soldier clothes, with his precious knifes.

DOES HE HAVE A MUSTACHE????

He's holding the Umbrella on the shoulder, as if he can't be bothered with it (and/ or he's gonna use it as a weapon).

Next! Not number 3, but the one who's linked to Diego! Lila!

Love that she's officially "Lila Hargreeves".

The left outfit is like the one she had in season 2 when she was with the Handler and stuff about her past was revealed (so interesting and meaningful choice of outfit). Her heels are thin, as if she wasn't stable (with her life situation and all).

Yet, on the right, her heels are thicker, more stable to move (she's more free to go).

Her clothes are modern and the flowers fit her really well, I might say. Her hair are put up, like the active badass woman she is. They're brown again, and not white/ blond anymore, it's more natural (I can't really argue, my hair are currently pink).

She overall looks like a business woman, with a casual chic.

She too, is holding an umbrella, which make her fully part of the family. She hold it casually.

Next, another girl: Allison.

Ngl, I'm no big fan of hers, so this will be short.

On the left, she's confidently wearing her UA (Umbrella Academy) uniform. Her hand move don't really feel natural (saying this as someone who sometimes draws human beings). Her hair are like the one from season 1.

On the right, she looks like a business woman and a mom. Her posture looks aslo determined, while relaxed. She have business to do, and no one will stop/ prevent her from doing so!

Girl power and all that.

(I'm trying, I really can't stand how her character was wrote during season 3)

Neeeeext! Let's go with one of my fav, Klaaaaaaus!

I have to say, it is criminal that a) his hair are short on th right side (loved his long hair) and b) where's the skirt?! He slayed in it! Anyway.

On the left, his walking looks very mechanical, as if he was a machine, a robot (lol) (I won't do any joke about Grace). Yet, his posture his not natural (no one walks naturally torso in one way and legs in another, if that makes some sense) (that reminds me kinda of the extravagant way drag queens walk on the runaway, for shows, but I may be extrapolating a little).

His eyes are closed. Why are his eyes closed? I'm scared. His face is still like the one of a dead person. Resigned. Accepting his fate. But after all, Klaus had always been closed to death, more or less metaphorically speaking, as he can see ghosts (= dead people, or what remains of them).

His hair are all over the place, reminding the crazy days he had to get fucking blasted to avoid said ghosts.

Right side is colorful. He's beauty, he's grace, WHERE ARE HIS HAIR?! No but more seriously, cutting one's own hair symbolise change in many culture, and more specifically letting go of the past, embracing new beginnings, and/ or undergoing spiritual or personal transformations. I have no idea how to interpret that.

He seems to float, to ascend (plz don't kill him). He is bare foot (bare feet? idk) (fun fact: in the comics, he could only use his power when sober and with bare feet) (I won't go down the rabbit hole of barefoot symbolism and its link with death, I'm not mentally well enough to do that).

He his wearing a yellow coat with flowers (flowers, like Lila!). Yellow is associated with joy, fest, sun (and Klaus is a comic relief, a feel good sunshine character), and flower, life. (again, plz don't kill him)

What reinforce that idea of tragedy is that the umbrella he's wearing is the only one who isn't black: it's the umbrella he was holding during Reggie's funeral in s1. Plus, he's holding it with three fingers out. What's the meaning of three? Idk. Maybe it’s for Allison? Maybe it has a link with God (the Christian one)? Yk, Holy Trinity and all that. After all, doesn't Klaus met God (the little girl in the afterlife) regularly?

Does that look good or bad for Klaus? No idea.

Speaking about looking good, Ben is back, alive. I won' t go far enough to say "well", but he's alive.

On the left, he's standing straight, walking in a unnatural posture. Following only.

On the right, he bent (idk why tho). His clothes are casual (and looking alike the one Viktor had been wearing during s3). His umbrella also cut his name (like Luther's). He's a Vans' boy!

We can't see if he's wearing glasses or not.

Last of the Hargreeves kids (if you count Lila as one, and if not, last one of the power-gifted Hargreeves): Five.

On the left, his posture is haughty. His hands are in his pants pockets. He know what he wants, he is very sure of himself, maybe because he thinks he is better than everyone (he can think that, given what happened) (some might even say he have a bratty attitude, but I'll answer, well have you seen him during season 1???)

(my personal theory is that he is bend forward to be smaller on the left than on the right)

On the right, he left the UA uniform for a more formal suit (some call it 'the grandpa / old man suit'). His hair are longer.

He's walking down like he had no shit to give anymore (he doesn't) and he's ready to throw hands (he totally his).

HOLY (S)HIT HE'S HOLDING THE UMBRELLA IN HIS RIGHT HAND! Why? Why is he te only one wearing the umbrella on the other hand? Is it to accentuate his difference with his siblings (+ Lila)? Is it to show how differently he see his time at the UA an how differenlty he uses his powers? I mean, given he didn't spend as much time in the UA as the rest of them, ofc his vision and perception of the UA is different. Even his vision of time is different.

And now.

BEWARE! THE REGINALD JUMPSCARE! (or is it scare jump? Anyway, I've been working on this post for more than an hour and a hlaf, plz be indulgent, it's late and the day had been long)

On the left, we see the whole umbrella for the firs time on these posters.

Reggie is wearing blue (reminding of the UA uniform). He is young looking, and seems well assorted (who tf have two jacket pockets on the same side tho?)

Edit: his suit is actually more lilac/ purple, which is a color hard to dye (so it costed a lot and was reserved for royalty / rich ppl) (before industrialization and the use of chemical products for clothes dye; and we know Reggie arrived/ was on Earth on 19th c., so during the industrialization)

On the right, he's old and wearing a brown suit. Brown can symbolize the Earth. Earth can provide and ppl are depend on it to eat and therefore survive. In a way, he was a Earth for his children, as they were dependent on him (does that makes him a good father? Absolutely not!). (that thought, of Reggie being a Earth, is funny given he is an alien / an extraterrestrial)

And if you put them all in order, you get :

every so often i see people complaining that the rules that govern the endless are unfair and shouldn't exist, and it's always just kinda funny, bc im here like oh you do NOT want to get rid of the rules, trust me

is it unfair that desire gets away with so much bc they're the only one willing to break the rules? yeah, probably. but the solution to that is more rules, not less, because we're dealing with 7 immortal siblings who've been around since the dawn of time and have the maturity levels of teenagers

and in that context all of the rules make so much sense

like there's probably more rules than we know about, but let's focus on the main three - no loving mortals, no interfering in each others' affairs, no spilling family blood

1) endless can't love mortals. the one rule we know was instated later than the rest, almost entirely because of dream. for two reasons. the more obvious is that dream and desire are never gonna stop fighting, and when you put a mortal in the way of that, they are almost definitely gonna get murdered or worse. but also, there's lifespans to consider. not every dead mortal can end up in the dreaming, and not all of them want to. dream dating someone mortal means at some point, he is going to outlive them, that's not in question. and dream... doesn't take loss well. he stood outside in the rain without moving for three weeks when thessaly left, and they'd only been dating a few months. and then we have lucien's word on what happened after nada...

if the dreaming entirely comes to a halt for weeks or years or centuries after a girlfriend leaves him, dream grieving an actual death of a partner is actively dangerous. you can't stop dream from dating, and from those relationships going poorly, but at least it has a much higher chance of being a mutual breakup if death has been taken out of the equation

(and, you know, might as well make it a universal rule, both just in case, and so dream isn't constantly aware that this one was made because of him)

2) no interfering in the affairs of other endless. think, for a second, about the sibling rivalries in this family. and that's just the ones that exist now, when several of them have had a chance to grow up - it's said they were all a lot more immature and prideful, even death, back in the day (she grew into the older sister position).

i saw someone say once that everything in the dcu makes sense when you consider that the universe is being run by seven warring siblings, and honestly i'm inclined to agree! they're all a mess

but at least they're messes that mostly leave each other alone. which means their domains are at least protected by the fact that they all individually care about what they were created to do - there's only one person making decisions and that person generally wants the best for those that enter their domain

death in the show talks about how when she was young, she had a hard time seeing her purpose, because everyone seemed to hate her and she didn't know what to do about it. what she says in the comics is that she did stop. once it really started to get to her, she refused to collect souls. no one and nothing died. and it was only through realising how much more that was hurting the world that she started to learn how to be okay with it

when any of them stop or get distracted or kept away from their jobs, it's the mortals who suffer. and even if they all meant well, which they often don't, have you ever tried running important projects with seven people leading? at best, it slows you down, at worst it can ruin the project entirely. given how much they try to tell each other how to live their lives already, if they were allowed to get up in each others' business, you might as well be jamming up the cogs of the universe

3) can't spill family blood. so, it's easy to look at that and see orpheus, and rose walker, and all the traps that dream almost or did fall into. but as far as i'm aware, other than orpheus and unity's descendants, we don't know of any other kids of the endless, and those were all pretty recent, on a universal scale. honestly, given how dream is the only hopeless romantic of the family, i'd be willing to bet orpheus was the first. so it's extremely unlikely when this rule was put into place that children were on anyone's mind. time and night are on such a cosmic scale of power i don't think even all of the endless combined could kill one of them. which means this rule is about each other

and given everything we just said about interfering with each other, can you imagine if they were allowed to kill each other? because endless reincarnate, death amongst their family would lose all meaning. you could kill one of your siblings for annoying you and get back a potentially less annoying version of them almost immediately. but every time you did that, you'd be disrupting the functions of the universe. and with siblings like dream and desire, who don't see the other's domain as important at all, they wouldn't care. if they'd been doing it since the start, it's possible none of them would see that as a bad thing

So I got an ask about a theory from someone saying that Stardew Valley is stuck in a simulation, as the players don't age and neither do the children you have.

I AM REALLY SORRY I DID NOT MEAN TO DELETE THE ASK BUT I DID SO IM GONNA TALK ABOUT IT HERE INSTEAD

I AM ALSO INCREDIBLY SORRY IVE TAKEN SO LONG TO ANSWER I HAVE HAD A MASSIVE FUCKING MONTH AND HAVE GOTTEN ZERO SPARE TIME TO WRITE A REASONABLE RESPONSE SO HERE WE ARE I GUESS

So I'm not really a fan of the simulation theory, not because I don't think it fits, but because it basically fits every video game of the same type. You could say that they're all trapped in simulations because players don't age, looping dialogue from NPC's, etcetera etcetera. Stardew Valley, however, I think could have many more fun theories about the passage of time.

There are some things that also make the Simulation theory not fit as well. For one, the weather changes from year to year, with the exception of a few dates (such as Spring 3), the arrival of Kent which does signify a passage of time. There's also the fact that there is access to places outside the valley like the Calico Desert and Ginger Islands, and the Governor who seems to be aware of passing time and is from outside the valley. And yes, all of these things could absolutely be found inside of a simulation, but what would be the point of having a simulation of a random town in the middle of nowhere? Also, this implies constant monitoring and that would be a colossal effort.

There are some odd things, though, like the fact that no one ages, the only visitors are during events, no one else ever travels through the town and no one ages after a while, even the children. There is one solution that may make more sense, and that is the golden clock. It's existence states that time magic could exist in Stardew Valley (I wanna dive into that in another post), which could be trapping Stardew outside of space time. Players usually get the clock around year 3 or 4 if they play to perfection, perhaps thats when time stops, or perhaps it already stopped, allowing some things to slip through.

The stoppage of time can explain numerous other anomalies, such as the perpetual war with the Gotoro Empire, the Calico Casino which can make a day last forever as you gamble away your money and why the same tourists seem to visit every year as well without aging.

There are other theories that may be stronger but this is my personal favourite

You had just gone to Recovery Girl to open up about the almost constant headaches you've been experiencing over the past year or so. And sure, it's irresponsible to sleep on something that could be so serious for so long, but it's just nice to live in denial sometimes.

Part of you was convinced that it was a tumor for a while, and it was the main reason you didn't go and get it looked at, because if you were gonna kick the bucket, you would rather do it in blissful ignorance, thank you! But as soon as you'd opened your big mouth to Tenya, he personally saw to it that you were escorted straight to recovery girl to get a professional opinion.

On the way to her office you were given a stern earful from your concerned, worrywart friend, and you weren't given even the slightest chance to claw your way out of an impromptu doctors appointment.

You had never expected this outcome, though.

Apparently, the headaches and pain was a sign of sensitivity to light, which is experienced more commonly by people with more reactive pupils, like yourself. The solution?

Glasses.

In all honestly, you never really thought of people with glasses as any different, but as soon as you put them on yourself, the change was not handled well. They look hideous on you, all big and bulky and irritating to wear.

The first time Tenya caught you not wearing them was the very next day. Cue another earful.

"This continuous irresponsibility is highly unbecoming of one of Japan's future top heroes! What is so difficult about wearing a simple pair of spectacles?! I really should know!"

He chops his hands and furrows his eyebrows at you as he gives you another lecture, and you know it's only coming from a place of valid concern for you, but you just don't like it when he points out how stubborn you're being.

"I look like a dweeb! Come on- nobody's gonna take me seriously when I look like this! They don't suit me at all, they're hideous! I'd prefer the pain, thank you very much-!"

"Oh! So you think I look like a "dweeb"?!"

This was supposed to be his 'got ya' moment, but you had other plans.

"No, ya' just act like one."

"What was that?!"

"Nothing!"

He offers only a simple sigh in response, placing a hand on your back lightly to attempt comforting you.

"I, for one, thought they looked rather lovely on you... But nobody is focusing on what you look like. -With the exception of maybe Mineta but it's not your face he's looking at- Anyway, I think you look just fine. They actually rather suit you... You look cute. Just do me this favour, please? Avoiding this problem is not healthy."

You've loved him even more ever since he's started to adopt a slightly more crude sense of humour, but aside from that, he's just so good at making you feel better. Now, you actually feel a lot better. Pretty good, actually.

He's not surprised when you offer a small sigh back as you rest your head gently on his shoulder, just to find a place to be more comfortable while you pout and be all miserable for the next few minutes.

Read your post about wu, misako, and garmadon and the love triangle. Great post and loved your joke. If you didn't make a post yet, I was wondering what your opinion is on the season 3 love triangle between Nya, Jay, and Cole?

Part two-

Okay so history lesson: season three is around the time the showrunners figured out that girls watched the show as well, and what better way to appeal to girls than with love drama right guys??? Because that's not stereotypical and insensitive, and butchering female characters for the sake entertainment isn't misogynistic at all!

... Okay so I have some negative thoughts, but the love triangle doesn't necessarily have to be bad? It's not great writing, but NinjaGo writers are known to sacrifice consistency for the sake of the plot a LOT so I'm not going to make a huge deal out of it. Up until Cole was described as Nya's "perfect match," she never had any interest in him. The love triangle between her and Cole comes completely out of nowhere, and gets treated more seriously in the show than most of the fans take it.

So let's try to break it down - Nya and Jay establish at the beginning of season 3 that they have some boundaries. They don't state what they are, but it's implied Jay isn't allowed to fawn over her and get super clingy. Which, after a reminder, Jay actually fulfills. The first episode implies they're in a healthy relationship, with even their students knowing about it. Nya even seems excited by the idea that Jay might be her perfect match.

Then she gets paired with Cole, and she insists no one say anything. Now, I'm gonna dip into my psychology classes and say that Nya's sudden "feelings" and "attraction" to Cole is based off of the power of suggestion rather than actual attraction.

The Power of Suggestion is the theory that when an individual has an idea conveyed to them, and only after that, said idea becomes a reality. The way it works is that your brain has to consider every idea that pops up in it, and how you react to that idea can strengthen it. Nya's extreme shock to the idea that she's meant to be with Cole solidified the suggestion that she should be with him in her mind, and with the way the human brain works, she was already thinking of reasons why. When your brain makes a statement, it automatically looks for proof, and so that's why Nya was able to believe that she genuinely had feelings for Cole - because she had plenty of reasons for why she could.

It's confirmed that Cole didn't really have feelings for Nya. He liked the attention, and because of Jay immediately getting mad at him for it, he amped up his own reactions. I don't think Cole ever had feelings for Nya, and he just got competitive because that's part of his personality.

Jay on the other hand. Since day ONE Jay has been interested in Nya. He wanted to know her favorite color, wanted to impress her. Him unlocking his true potential was because she admitted she actually liked him no strings attached. He's been head over heels for that girl from the start, and he's canonically very insecure about being liked. So when Pixal, someone who almost never lies, says that she's supposed to be with Cole, and Nya doesn't immediately reassure him? He was bound to react the way that he did. That being said, immediately jumping to violence was wrong of him, especially because he didn't technically have proof Cole had acted on anything, but it makes sense.

To put it bluntly, everybody messed up. Nya shouldn't have hid the perfect match thing, or tried to initiate any kind of romantic affection with Cole. Cole shouldn't have reciprocated, and especially shouldn't have endorsed hiding it from Jay. Jay should have asked what was going on, and actually gotten the information he needed before going on the attack - not to mention he should have focused his hurt on the fact that Nya actually kind of cheated on him, but it's understandable why he was mad at Cole.

If someone wants to argue for Mudshock, I'm all for it! I just don't like the way it was canonically portrayed. It did feel very teenager-y so kudos to the team for being accurate to the vibes, but ultimately they ended up butchering two incredible characters (Nya and Cole) for the sake of marketing. I don't think anyone who wrote this actually knows how upsetting it is when you find out your partner is cheating on you with your best friend, so they played up the love triangle for the masses.

TL:DR: in canon? I'm not a fan of Mudshock. In fanon, where it gets explored and balanced out and all three of them are healthy and supportive??? ABSOLUTELY SIGN ME UP BABY

Knowing that he has memory problems does neglected Raph struggle to trust his own judgment?

Like not even just for things gaps in memories makes sense to hinder. I’m talking even when he knows stuff or when memory doesn’t factor in at all, he knows he can’t trust his mind on some things so he struggles to trust it at all

If so, does he ever recover from all that?

(Side note: it’d be super interesting to see them face a villain like Mother May-Eye from Teen Titans 2003)

here's the thing about raph, Raph doesn't trust ppl other than his brothers, april, and casey, so he wouldn't let someone else fact check him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't doubt his own memories. especially since Donnie has rambled at length about how fallible memories are.

There more than a few times where Raph has a memory of something, but Splinter kind of tweaks it or implies it was just ever so slightly different in away that changes things. and if Raph is like "wait that's not what happened" Splinter would imply he doesn't know what he's talking about. never calling him crazy outright, just saying he's remembering it wrong. but isn't it kind of weird that, for some reason, Raph's memory is always "wrong" in a way that benefits Splinter? (Mom Reference)

so anyway, Raph doesn't like being told he remembered something wrong cuz of that, so that's why he only lets his close friends check him and might get aggro if someone he doesn't know well casually implies he's remembering something wrong. (this includes stuff as small as someone saying "i think you remembered this wrong" or "that's not what I remember" even just really small stuff like that can trigger him)

But his defensiveness is just because he does genuinely worry that since he forgets things so much, there's a chance the solid memories he DOES have aren't real. and if that's true then like what is he even doing, right? like how can he be a person in a meaningful way if the things his internal experiences and emotions are based on aren't real? That's what he thinks, at least.

i watched the mother may-eye episode to answer this ask so im gonna address that under the cut now:

I forgot how good the teen titans theme song is. also i forgot about the hive five they're are so fucking cool i wish i was every character in this show wtf. also why that guy sexually harass starfire. kinda like that starfire appears to swear all the damn time but since it's alien swears no one cares.

Seoul's golden sun bathed the city in warmth as Y/N, the youngest member of TWICE, stood outside a charming café. Her heart fluttered with excitement and nervousness, anticipating her date with Winter from aespa. The relationship between the maknae and Winter had blossomed unexpectedly, catching them both in a whirlwind of affection and joy. As she entered the café, Y/N couldn't help but feel her cheeks flush, eager to be with her beloved girlfriend. Inside, Winter sat at a table near the window, her copper hair cascading down her shoulders like the sunset. When she saw her girl approaching, her eyes lit up with joy, and she stood up to embrace her warmly. Winter's love enveloped TWICE's sunshine like a comforting embrace, and the young idol felt a sense of calm and belonging in her presence.

As they settled into their seats, Y/N and Winter chatted effortlessly, their laughter filling the air with happiness. Winter's genuine interest in the other idol's day-to-day life made her feel cherished, and her heart swelled with affection for the aespa member. Meanwhile... 

Back at the JYP Entertainment dorm, the members of TWICE had gathered in the living room. Dahyun chimed in. 

Dahyun - We should be discreet, though. We don't want to invade their privacy (funny how she says that when they're gonna spy the girls but- lol).

And so, TWICE unnies decided to subtly observe the youngest and Winter's date from a distance, curious to witness the dynamic between the two idols.

Throughout the afternoon, Y/N and Winter's affection for each other was evident. Winter's caring nature shone through as she lovingly brushed her fingers against the other girl's hand, and the younger idol would blush with a mixture of shyness and delight. Y/N, in turn, had a way of bringing out Winter's playful side, making her laugh and smile like never before. 

Momo, known for her keen observation skills (I see her that way for some reason, idk), whispered to Jihyo.

Momo - Look at how Winter's eyes light up when our kiddo speaks. It's heartwarming.

Jihyo smiled as she answered.

Jihyo - Yes, and our angel seems so at ease with her. They seem genuinely happy together.

As the date continued, the TWICE members noticed how Winter's protective instincts kicked in whenever someone approached their table. She would instinctively move closer to Y/N, ensuring her comfort and safety. This display of care did not go unnoticed by the maknae, and it only deepened her feelings for Winter.

Mina, usually reserved, couldn't help but comment about what she was seeing. 

Mina - They seem to support and understand each other well. It's lovely to see.

Tzuyu, who had been quietly observing too, finally spoke.

Tzuyu - I think Winter is good for our honey. They complement each other.

Jihyo agreed. 

Jihyo - I'm happy to see our love with someone who genuinely cherishes her.

Satisfied with their observations, TWICE unnies decided to give Y/N and Winter some space, confident in the strength of their relationship.

As the weeks passed, both girls love continued to flourish. They navigated the challenges of their busy schedules together, and their bond grew stronger with each passing day. Y/N felt grateful for having Winter in her life, and the aespa member embraced her with love and warmth. One evening, as the youngest returned to the dorm, she was met with knowing smiles from her olders sisters from TWICE. Nayeon playfully teased (I mean, who are we kidding. It's Nayeon, she wouldn't be able to not spill the tea lol). 

Nayeon - So, how's Winter treating you, maknae?

Y/N's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she couldn't hide her happiness.

Y/N - She's wonderful. I'm really happy with her.

Sana winked.

Sana - We've been keeping an eye on you two, you know.

Y/N's eyes widened in surprise (cause her unnies just watched her date, I'd die if I had sisters and they did that lmao).

Y/N - You have?!

Jihyo laughed.

Jihyo - Don't worry, sweetie. It's just that we care about you, and we wanted to make sure you're being treated well.

The younger girl felt a warm sense of gratitude, knowing that her unnies loved and cared for her so deeply. 

Y/N - Thank you, everyone. Winter is amazing, and I'm as grateful to have her in my life as I am to have you guys.

From that day on, Y/N knew she not only had a loving girlfriend in Winter but also a group of caring and supportive unnies in TWICE. The combination of Winter's embrace and TWICE's acceptance created a cocoon of love around her, making her feel cherished and protected. And so, the bond between Y/N, Winter, and TWICE grew stronger. And that made them all realise one thing:

We are proud of our chosen family.

I don't want to be patient. I want to be hooked up now, right now. I don't want to be told to wait 4 or 5 years so that all the stuff being released now will make sense. I want to care about this now because it's the only way I'm going to stick around for the next 4 or 5 years.

I didn't need Thanos in every single movie in Phases 2 and 3 to care about the movies, I watched them for the simple reason that I cared about those characters, the movies were focused on them and their independent stories (for the most part, at least) and those films were helping expand the world-building and the universe while only focusing on Thanos in the post-credit scenes or through one or two lines during the movie. Marvel made me care about them.

Now, everything is Kang. Everything is the multiverse. We keep getting movies and series where the title characters are sidelined in order to introduce new, younger characters who have no complexity whatsoever and are only shown so that certain fans can have their cameos or to hype up a Young Avengers movie that won't be coming any time soon. The old characters are either laughed at, mocked, have their personalities completely retconned or the characters that made their previous movies interesting are scrapped completely (looking at you, Quantumania).

That's not mentioning reading interview after interview with scriptwriters who openly admit they never watched the previous movies/series their characters have been in because apparently professionalism is not "cool" these days.

If they're losing the audience and Quantunmania flopped epically is because they're taking us for granted, and the sheer reality of it all is that the audience is far more intelligent than we're led to believe.

So, nope. Patience is not gonna do it. Either they start accepting criticism and realize the way they're doing things now is not working or Quantumania is not going to be the last movie to not even earn enough to be profitable.

Hello! Feel free to ignore this, but I wanted to give my two cents about the MC's initial personality while playing. Now, this may be blunt, but at first, I was incredibly disappointed. Usually, I tend to play stoic/quiet MCs who don't lash or speak out, and it seemed to be quite the opposite to the distrusting and stoic mc in the game. However, I was thinking extremely hard about this, and I actually get why the MC was so outspoken, especially when V literally pointed a gun at them. Stoic and stubborn MC, from what I saw in the prologue, could easily be more nonchalant *before* the alien invasion, but that, obviously, changed. When C found them and brought them to the hideout, I didn't take into account that MC was in a vulnerable position, and I only focused on the part that MC hadn't interacted with another person in years. So, yeah, of course, MC may be overwhelmed, but their not gonna let people (V *cough*) walk all over them. I guess the thing was that I was so used to stoic MCs in IFs just standing on the sidelines and observing, but that is obviously not that kind of IF. The thing that had gotten to me the most, however, was the second-hand embarrassment of MC actually talking back to V after he blatantly insults them because I could never😭 I guess what I am trying to say is that even though I was seriously taken aback, none of the characters (including MC) are not gonna be 2-dimensional (as you have stated multiple times), and it has definitely grown on me, even if the MC was a little more of a fire-cracker than I expected. I am really looking forward to seeing where you take this story, and I will absolutely be eating it up because even if I might have to be tossing my phone across the room occasionally (bc my second-hand embarrassment is so easily triggered😭😭), I cannot get enough of your writing and characters!! I hope this made sense because I was just rambling about my take on if you are willing to make the MC a little more stoic or have some mute choices, which I am not against, but at the end of the day, I will still be reading the fuck out of Memento Mori! I appreciate your super-thorough analysis of both MC's personality and also your initial/developing reaction to it!

Just wanna offer some perspective on why I'm writing MC the way I am (you've already nailed a lot of the points but this is gonna be a succinct explanation from my head hehe)

MC is ultimately a fully fledged character in Memento Mori. While writing, I have about six different MC's in my head, each with distinct personalities, motives, and reactions to events. As I'm writing Ch. 2 in particular, I'm using these characters to influence the choices available and the stat checks necessary for certain actions. MC was never going to be a self insert. I love a good self insert sometimes, but it doesn't work with this if!

What makes characters feel realistic and multi-dimensional to me is their ability to break out of their different archetypes. We all know the ones like The Mean Girl or the Shy Kid or the Comic Relief. We can use your Stoic!MC example. Do we as humans act the same exact way every single day with every single event and interaction? No, we don't. Because we are complex, muli-faceted individuals that can have conflicting thought and actions, or opinions. What makes a character feel flat is when they are only given like 3 personality traits and stick to those regardless of what happens around them in the story.

So in Memento Mori, your Stoic!MC will have moments where they're outspoken and opinionated. The Charming!MC will lose their cool and lash out rather than smooth talk. The Friendly!MC will snap at someone without thinking. We aren't perfect, neither is MC, and I think that adds dimension to what can easily be a very blank slate kind of character. This isn't exclusive to MC, either! Veronica/Vincent will be nice to you sometimes for seemingly no reason. Zero will have moments where he is not okay and rejects your comfort when he reads it as pity. Cecelia/Chase will not always be the bouncy comic relief that uses humor to make everyone smile.

To add insult to MC's injury, like you mentioned in your ask, they are suffering from extreme amounts of PTSD and trauma. They have lost everyone and everything, they're a young adult living in complete isolation for two years. They're starving, they're injured, they hate themselves and being alive. It's going to take them a while to feel like themselves. In the span of one day, they've been nearly killed by a monster, then they're covered in blood guts and sweat when they meet C, then C brings them to meet 6 other people (including two aliens) and now they're going on this extensive journey with complete strangers, while that very morning they were contemplating ending it all. it's a lot.

By the time MC meets V, they are already at their limit of dealing with bullshit so V pointing a gun at them was never going to fly. V insulting them was a no-go either. Now, in the future, MC can ignore V more often because they'll be less on edge than when they were all first introduced. Once they have time to process, then they can react what is most familiar and comfortable for them. It will take time.

I laughed when you called MC a firecracker! I'd say they're more...unpredictable as a character when they're under high stress. As time goes on, they'll adjust and mellow out in some ways, but right now? MC has had ENOUGH with feeling like shit all the time.

I'm really glad you were a bit embarrassed by MC talking back to V because that was my goal AHDSEWLKMFRLK it's supposed to feel a bit uncomfortable. It's MC trying to clap back on someone when they have lost most of their social skills. It made ME cringe while writing it. Like oof MC, just ignore them???!!!

I'll definitely be adding some more options to be a bit more stoic or selectively mute in chapter 2, and as for chapter 1, I think more options to stay silent while talking to Cecelia/Chase or when they're speaking with Delphine/V could be good too. I'll see how it flows!

You'll see at the beginning of Ch.2 that MC already feels a tiny bit better. Nothing much but at least they aren't alone anymore, and they have a hot shower and some real food. So small wins for MC!

Dear god, pray for the rest of the residents inside the mansion because they're going to need help. I've mentioned before in previous posts that Toby has had a knack for sneaking in random animals and just keeping them in the mansion, which he's always gotten in trouble for, but now he has you with him, encouraging it and bringing home random animals of your own, and it's just a complete and total disaster because there's no way this can end well. The two of you are constantly getting in trouble with Tim and Slender, and it gets to the point where you both have to be body searched before you come inside the mansion because they're tired of finding random animals just running around all over the place and it seems to be the only way to stop the two of you from doing it. 

Eyeless Jack:

Oh, dear. Jack himself has had a couple run ins with hoarding animals in the mansion (mostly when his demonic instincts are high and it's the winter months as he wants to protect them from the cold), but in general, Jack is not the type of person to just be okay with hoarding a bunch of animals inside the mansion for no reason. Jack thinks it's cute at first, that you just want to keep the little guys housed and taken care of, but eventually, the two of you are going to end up having a little competition as he tries to put an end to it. You can never win. You can't hide the animals from him. His sense of smell is far too strong, he's far too aware of your habits and hiding places, and he always ends up finding out and making you return the animals back outside. 

Jeff:

See this is a tricky situation. On one hand, Jeff finds it absolutely fucking hilarious that you keep sneaking animals into the mansion and that it's always different ones every time. On the other hand, he's a team leader and he's supposed to be in control and stop people from doing things like this. Needless to say, you have a 50/50 chance of succeeding when it comes to Jeff. Some days, he'll give you a smile and a laugh, tell you that you have a certain amount of time to run away and hide it and that he didn't see anything at all, and he'll leave it to be someone else's problem. On other days, maybe his ass is on the line or the animal would be too obvious, and he'll sigh and give you a little head pat before telling you it's not gonna fly today. Either way, he loves you and finds it incredibly amusing.

Not to be mean, but to be mean, Jon was an annoying kid and Chris is so much better. Chris' whole character arc is so good and Clark and Lois adopting a child was such a good concept. Clark doing for a kid what his Ma and Pa did to him will never not be better. Also, what is your opinion of the twins Lois and Clark adopted recently? And how do you fill about Kon (kinda) stealing Mon's place as an adoptive brother of Clark? I just don't get why Clark can't have two brothers instead of one.

the twins are… fine? i've honestly never had less of an opinion on something. they're there. i don't hate them. that's about it. honestly, i feel like the fact that i've gotten approximately 900 asks talking about all the various superkids over the past couple days and not a single person thought to mention the twins says more about their impact that i could lol

and oh boy. ok. i have MANY thoughts about the mess that is the current version of mon-el and about mon & kon in general. this is about to be stupidly long and borderline incomprehensible

the crimes committed against mon-el in rebirth have nothing to do with kon. this is yet another thing that's been done solely to prop up jon

i'm clinging to every scrap of self restraint i have to not fly off into a whole spiel about the specifics of it because like. jesus christ. it is zero exaggeration probably the worst comic i've ever read. but in short, bendis essentially turned the entire legion into a jon kent fanclub in his cursed losh reboot, and mon was just one of many casualties

he was turned into this weird oc whose only character traits are being jealous of jon, throwing temper tantrums, and saying shit with weirdly racist undertones. and also he's kryptonian now for some reason. and a biological member of the el family. and jon is his grandfather. i guess. hell is real

and just because i know most people only know mon from the cursed hexed evil cw supergirl version, which really isn't that different from bendis's version (i doubt that's a coincidence tbh), i gotta stress how completely opposite that character is to how he's been characterized in the comics

again, not gonna get into specifics in the interest of not having this turn into a novella, but here's a quick comparison just to give you a sense of how bad it really is. (i'm sure there are better examples in older comics, but i read bendis's losh at the same time i was reading the New Krypton saga, and this one in particular caused me physical pain)

i'm focusing on mon here, but again, the ENTIRE legion was just as horribly character assassinated for jon's benefit. mon's was one of the worst imo, but it wasn't the worst. spare a thought for the brainiac 5 girlies, who had to see their boy drained of literally all recognizable traits & turned into to jon's Quirky, airheaded sidekick

before all this, mon & kon existed at the same time with zero problems for years. they were both allowed be in clark's life. one of my favorite storylines is actually mon's stint as superman stand-in during New Krypton, which does a lot of really good developing/exploring of their relationship. again, gonna hold back from getting into the specifics of it, but it essentially turns them into foils, and it's.... so good. they were so cute

even before this, they had a fairly lengthy history together. they haven't directly interacted that much compared to other characters, but still, i'd say erasing mon from superman comics arguably takes more away from kon than it does clark?

legion timelines are too convoluted to get into, but the 1990 shenanigans deleted clark from mon's origin, and in 1994, it was remixed so the role he played was given to kon instead

it wasn't until infinite crisis in 2006 that the original version came back. since rebirth superman is post-crisis superman and flashpoint hit in 2011, if you wanna be pedantic about it, the rebirth version of clark only really knew mon for ~5 years, but (apart from a ~3 year blip post-infinite crisis) he & kon have had a relationship since 1994

they met for the first time less than 2 years after kon was first introduced, and his relationship with mon was what got kon involved with the legion for the first time... which has all now been completely erased because now jon and only jon is the main character of legion comics

(and it's not just kon this happened to. kara & clark have also had their histories with the legion and everyone in it completely wiped (along with just... the history of the legion as a whole) to give jon center stage)

honestly, i wish it'd been done in an attempt to give kon a more significant role in clark's life. that would be way less frustrating, way easier to fix than the mess we have now, and would also mean there was finally someone at dc who gave a shit about someone other than jon
