His Reward is with Him

"See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. - Isaiah 40:10

 I have this verse hanging on my closet door. I believe I may have read in the past that in context this was written to Israel and was applied to the entire nation. It is speaking of Jesus' second coming and Israel's special place in the Millennial Kingdom. So although I am going to apply it to a differently in this post, I feel it is always important to keep in mind the original context.

 I believe the first half of the verse is fairly easy to comprehend. The second part what I hope to write about.

 His reward is with Him. The greatest reward of being a child of God, besides salvation, is the privilege of being in His presence. It is a privilege to have His spirit in my heart. It is a great privilege to approach The Throne of Grace in prayer, with confidence I will be heard. Every spiritual blessing is given to a believer (Ephesians 1:3).

The virtues that are a part of Gods nature (loving, merciful, grace, etc) are all spiritual blessings that God gives us. These rewards are with God. By being a part of the Redeemed, by being His children, we are a part of His body and thus we receive these rewards.
