St. Patrick’s Day generally summons partiers from all around. It’s a cause for fun and celebration, but this St. Patrick’s Day might not be as fun for some people. Zachary Zatara plans to throw a party at his club the Ritual. There’s plenty to draw people into the celebration, including performances from Zach and his cousin Zatanna, the Hex Girls, and promises of certain deals to get free drinks.
The party is fun and lively until something goes wrong. An argument between Zachary and Zatanna will lead Zach to venting to an imp from the 5th dimension, Mxyzptlk. Mxyzptlk, always one for causing fun and trouble, takes an offhanded wish that Zachary made and turns it into a reality. Suddenly, the club and everyone in it is transported to an entirely different universe, in the time when the Salem Witch Trials were getting even more heated in 1693. Everyone who got transported will have to figure out how to survive for a whole month in a time period when nearly everything they’re used to would be seen as witchcraft.
Meanwhile, in their original universe, government authorities like S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Justice League will be looking into the disappearance of the Ritual and its occupants, trying to determine if it was some kind of terrorist attack, an accident, or something else entirely. As far as they’re aware, everyone will only be gone for one week.
Will your characters get pulled along with the Ritual and have to find a way to survive? Will they be separated from their loved ones between universes? Or will they be safe in the present, scrambling to find a way to get everyone back?
The Event will start on St. Patrick’s Day, Wednesday, March 17th, 2021, and it will last until March 27th, 2021. Make sure to tag all your event related posts with #phoenixtimewarp and make sure you’re tagging all your starters with #thephoenixstarter and tag @thephoenixstart in those posts. If you have any questions, feel free to message us on main or in the #admin-response channel on Discord, but since we understand that this can be a confusing event, we’ve prepared some questions and answers that we assume might need answering.
Q. Do we need to worry about how actions in the past might affect the future?
No. While the characters are in a time period that’s considered the past, they will actually be in a completely different universe. Any actions made by characters here won’t affect their own future, aside from any trauma or physical injuries they might gain here. For example, if they get stabbed, they’ll still have that injury once they return home, but if they killed their great great great (and so on) grandparents, they’ll still be alive once they return home.
Q. How will everyone blend in when they all have modern clothes, money, and technology?
Assuming that your characters don’t just stupidly run off immediately, there will be people in the club who can help them with this. Since it’s his own fault for everyone ending up here, Zachary will use his magic to change everyone’s clothes into the appropriate styles for the time period.
He will also change any cash that people have on them to fit the time period too. Keep in mind that twenty dollars in this time period will go a lot further than it would in our own time.
Everyone will also be advised to leave all of their technological devices inside the club. Your characters can choose to disregard this advice at their own peril. The club itself will also change appearance to fit the time period, so it can act as a safe meeting spot for everyone.
Q. How long will everyone be stuck in 1693?
The people stuck in 1693 will be spending a full month there.
Q. How long will everyone be gone for the people in the present?
For the people in the present, everyone will only have been gone for one week. It’ll be March 24th when everyone returns.
Q. What can my characters be doing while they’re in this time period?
It’s really up to you what your characters are doing. You can always look up what kinds of things were going on in 1693 aside from the Salem Witch Trials, but this was also a time for pirates if you think your characters might get involved in that. Your characters might also get caught up in the Witch Trials and deemed a witch if they’re not careful. You’ll just have to find a way to get them out of that in time to get home.
Q. If my character stays in the present, what can they do?
It depends who your characters are. If they work with S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Justice League, they might be tasked with helping the investigation, or they might be seeking the comfort of their friends for anyone they cared about who might’ve been taken to the past. However, if your characters are helping with the investigation, please contact the main to determine what they can figure out through the investigation. Daisy Johnson will be leading it on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s side, and Zatanna Zatara will be leading the investigation on behalf of the justice league. Anyone else involved will be working under them, so you’ll need their approval.
Q. How will everyone get home?
We’ll make another post when the event comes to a close for how everyone will get home.
Q. I have a different question.
Send an ask or message to the main, or contact the admins through the #admin-response channel on Discord.

Harley screamed at the passers by below from her upstairs window. “What’re you lookin at, ugly!? You want somma’ this? You wanna piece a’ me?” Sometimes she merely yelled, and sometimes she tossed items out at them as well. A tennis racket, a coffee maker, various mason jars and a pecan pie littered the sidewalk below Harley’s window.
With a gutteral, primal scream the clown girl yelled at absolutely nothing until her face turned red. No matter how much she tried, she couldn’t quell the rage that had bubbled up inside her that morning. It refused to let go of her, and she was determined to keep trying everything until relief set in.
If she had to destroy everything in New York, she would. One brick at a time.
Speaking of bricks, Harley just threw one threw her neighbor’s window.

After tracking down Mxyzptlk, Zachary Zatara was able to trick the imp into writing his name backwards with a mallet into a corn field. This reversed the magic that Mxyztplk had done and sent the club and everyone in it back to their own universe in the present time. Unfortunately, some people didn’t make it back to the present. They either died in the past or didn’t make it back to the club before it got sent back to the present, but everyone else is home now. Everyone was questioned by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to get witnesses for what had happened. People who were injured received whatever care they needed and were allowed to go home.
The event is now over! Feel free to continue whatever event threads you’d like, including discords, but no new starters should be made at this point. We hope you’ve enjoyed this event, and as always, if you have any questions, please let us know.

☙ GOOD GRIEF ❧
Jo Harvelle wiped tears from her face as she finished the incantation. 🙶 Come on, 🙷 she breathed. 🙶 Come on. 🙷 Moments later a reaper appeared.
🙶 This is wrong, Ms. Harvelle, 🙷 he warned, but she did not listen. She took the scythe from the reapers hands, and he gave it to her willingly for, you see, Jo Harvelle managed to find a spell to help her control the reaper so that she could have him take Death’s scythe. She needed it to bring her mother, Ellen, back. It was her fault she’d died to begin with. She shouldn’t have gone on that hunt by herself. She should’ve listened to her mother. Now, she at least had a chance to bring her back and make things right.
🙶 How do I use it? 🙷 she asked.
🙶 You’ll know, 🙷 the reaper replied.
☙ SPOOKY BUSINESS ❧
It all happened so quickly. The party was going well; everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks and the music when suddenly it felt like the air just shifted. The artic temperature drop could be felt all throughout the city as ghosts started appearing one by one. Suddenly, the party was flooded with both good and bad specters. Take a look around. Do you see any familiar ( undead ) faces?
☙ WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ❧
The veil between the living and the dead has been damaged due to Death’s scythe being stolen. Ghosts from all afterlives are now flooding the city in large numbers.
It’s entirely up to you regarding how much knowledge your ghost has with regard to influencing the physical environment.
Some ghosts might just exist in appearance and can talk but not know how to touch anything (especially if they only died recently).
Some ghosts might not even see the world around them and be stuck in an endless loop of their last death (particularly if that death was traumatic).
Some of them might be angry about the way they died and hurt people in short bursts.
Feel free to post self-paras and opens using the tag #phoenixmasquerade.

Let’s Do the Time Warp
SUMMARY: After an argument with his cousin, Zachary vents to an imp and accidentally makes a wish to send his whole club to an alternate universe in 1693 Salem.
TRIGGERS: Alcohol, death mentions,
MENTIONS: @zztophat, @of-hexes
St. Patrick’s Day was a night for all kinds of drinks and party-goers. As a club owner, Zachary was responsible for making sure his club, the Ritual, was festive for the holiday and that it never ran out of alcohol for his guests. Responsibility wasn’t exactly something that Zach was great at until it benefited him, primarily when it got him more attention. A night like this was sure to bring in a crowd, but he made it all the more tempting for them. Every seventh drink served was free, and if anyone happened to have a real four-leaf clover, all their drinks were free for the night. Anyone caught not wearing green was charged extra.
The club was adorned in all kinds of festive decorations for the holiday. Green confetti rained down on the crowd every hour at the hour. Streamers hung all around the club on every wall and ceiling. There was a fountain that looked like a glass of beer pouring over, and an actual rainbow went from one end of the club to the other where two pots of chocolate gold sat. All of the servers were dressed like leprechauns. Even Zach himself was decked out in an all green suit and tophat.
He performed throughout the night, doing small tricks while maneuvering through the crowds, but his real show didn’t start until later in the night. The main performers until then were the Hex Girls. They kept the crowd alive with their music and kept everyone dancing, but they weren’t the only form of entertainment that would draw people in. The Ritual promised to deliver a show-stopping performance starring Zachary and Zatanna Zatara. It didn’t happen too often, but Zatanna had agreed to do a joint show with her cousin. Zachary tended to enjoy them a lot more than she did, and once the show started, it was obvious why.
To Zachary, the show was great. The crowd loved it, and he delighted in the applause. However, it was at the expense of his cousin. Zachary failed to mention to Zatanna that he changed parts of their show. As a skilled entertainer, Zatanna was quick to roll with the punches and catch up each time, but it also put her in a much more difficult position each time. Even through her bright stage smile, those who paid attention could tell she was frustrated, but it was only once the show ended that she really spoke her mind.
She was understandably upset. He’d ignored cues and just done things on a whim while leaving her to pick up the pieces. She lectured and argued with him for longer than Zach could keep track of. He mainly zoned her out in favor of talking to other guests at the party, but he got the gist of what she was saying. He was unprofessional. He didn’t take things seriously. He had no attention to detail. The list went on and on and on. He argued back a little, pointing out that the crowd was happy about the performance and that a few little changes weren’t going to kill anybody. That of course, didn’t help anything and only prolonged the argument. They went back and forth like this until Zatanna just left the club. Zachary huffed as she stormed away, and he just went to his bar, getting many drinks for himself as he complained about his cousin to the current bartender.
“She’s always doing this,” Zachary explained as he downed another glass. It was quickly refilled as he continued talking. “Literally, anything and everything I do is met with ridicule and disappointment. She never has anything good to say. It’s always Why can’t you take things seriously, Zachary? Or It’s not all about you, Zach! Or What were you thinking, Zach? Or or or the one she really loves to shove in my face now: Your inattention to detail is going to get you killed, and the world doesn’t need any more dead Zataras!” Despite how he acted, Zach did listen to what Zatanna said, at least some of it. How could he not? She was so loud when she was angry with him, and it wasn’t as if he didn’t know how she felt. He hadn’t been there when her dad had died, but he had been there for the aftermath of it. She usually took care of him, not that he asked her to, but it was the one time he’d taken care of her. She’d been so broken over it, so he understood why she didn’t want to see it happen to him too. He’d been conflicted over that thought at first. He knew that he could be reckless at times, and he didn’t want her worrying about him dying like her dad had. He dealt with that with a mixture of arrogance and denial, both working to push her away as if that would stop her from worrying and then just refusing to acknowledge that he was as much at risk as she thought he was. If she would just give up on him, she’d stop worrying about him all the time, and if he actually took the time to think about how he was acting, he might’ve realized how little sense he made. Both were just as unlikely to happen. He told her constantly that there was really nothing to worry about despite his actions proving otherwise.
He sighed. “Why can’t it ever be You did a great job, Zachary! Or I’m proud of you, Zach. Or even That was a great show tonight, Zachary. I mean, I know I changed some things up last minute, but I knew she could handle it. The crowd still loved it, and it was a great show. You don’t get a standing ovation for a bad show.” He grumbled as he drank another glass. The bartender filled it once again.
“It really was a great show.” Zachary turned in his seat to look at the guest who had spoken to him and was now giggling. If Zach was just a little more drunk, he would’ve thought he was talking to an actual leprechaun. The man was extremely short. He didn’t look like he was much more than three feet tall. He was balding at the top of his head with a large amount of grey hair puffing out on both sides. He wore a purple bowler hat with a flower poking out of the brim and a purple and gold suit with a green bowtie. He had a smile that was a little too wide to seem like he was just being friendly, as if he’d smiled for too long and it had just gotten stuck that way.
Despite the signs that something wasn’t quite right with the man, Zach continued talking to him, just happy someone was agreeing with him. “Right? Thank you! I thought we did a great job.”
“You did! You did!” The man laughed. “Oh, how I’d love to see it again and again and again. How many changes do you think you could make before she just couldn’t keep up anymore and would just burst?! What do you think would come out? Butterflies? Confetti? Fireworks?”
“Fire ants, a volcano, locusts,” Zachary supplied monotonously. If Zatanna was that angry, he knew it wouldn’t be anything pretty or anything anyone would want to stick around for.
The man burst into a fit of uproarious laughter. He sounded more crazed than amused, but Zach just took another drink to get him through this interaction, only chuckling a little in response. “I like you,” the man decided. “You know how to make things fun in a way that lasts. Me, all you have to do is get me to say or spell or write my name backwards, and then all my hard work? Gone-zo. Poof! . . . Anywho, you were saying about your cousin?”
Zachary blinked. “Right . . .” His mind was feeling the buzz from the alcohol a little more now, but something was weird about what the man said. Zach still was in a foul mood though, so it wasn’t hard for him to get back on track to airing his complaints. “I just hate having to be yelled at by her all the time. It makes me wish I was dealing with literally anything else. Hell, I’d rather be living through the Salem Witch Trials than this. The only people who might actually miss me are in this club right now.” They probably wouldn’t even miss him, just the parties and alcohol he offered, but that was beside the point. At least then he wouldn’t be Zatanna’s problem anymore.
“Well, that sounds doable,” said the man brightly. Zach wasn’t sure what he meant and just rose his brow at the man. “The name’s Mister Mxyzptlk!” He announced. With a wave of his hand, the name appeared in the air above them in bright sparkly letters. Zach was sure that if he blinked, those letters would still show up behind his eyelids. “Just shake my hand, and your wish is my command!”
Zachary stood up, nearly falling over from the alcohol in his system, but he kept his balance. “What wish? I didn’t make any wish. What the hell are you talking about? What is this?” He gestured wildly around him, swiping his hand through Mxyzptlk’s name in the air. In the process of that, Mxyzptlk took his hand, shaking it. Zachary ripped his hand away, but it didn’t stop the following events from unfolding.
Mxyzptlk started giggling and singing to himself. “Oh what a glee it is to be, in Salem sixteen-ninety-three.” He snapped his fingers repetitively while doing a little dance. The entire club started to shake. It jerked forward and back. Zach and the other guests inside the club were knocked to the ground as the lights cut out.
From outside the club, it appeared just as eventful. The club was loud and bright. It shook while all of the other buildings nearby remained still. Then, in a flash of blinding light, everything sucked inwards towards the club. It looked as if it imploded, disappearing into a single point along with everything that was within five feet of it. Windows nearby shattered, pulled outward into the streets. Then, the air that filled in the space blasted back out, and everything was still once again.
Debris littered the streets. Any pedestrians nearby had been roughly tossed about by the implosion of the club and the following explosion of forceful air. Some pedestrians were even less lucky and had disappeared along with the club. From an outside standpoint, there wasn’t much concrete evidence to tell what had actually even happened. The lot where the club had been was empty, removing the complete foundation. Pipes and other electrical lines had been pulled apart as if the club were simply ripped out of the ground, but there was no real trace of where it had gone.
Inside the club, it was dark. Cut off from all of its sources of electricity, the club allowed no light in. Zachary stood up, using the chair from support. His head was still spinning, both from all the shaking and all the alcohol in his system. “Tel ereht eb thgil!” He cast his hands up, and the room brightened once more, all the lights filling with a magical glow. As the guests all started to get their bearings, Zachary used his magic to help the injured. He was weaker like this, and there was no spell he could use to cure himself of his drunken state since his powers didn’t work on people. He just did simple things like making sure glasses of water were passed around and pulling out first aid kits for people to get access to. He didn’t really know what he was dealing with here, and that crazy imp was nowhere to be found anymore.
“I’m either really drunk, really high, or I’m dead,” Zach heard someone say near the doors to the club. He didn’t like the sound of that. He quickly pushed through the crowd to get outside. There was no big city. No cars or big buildings. No smoke polluting the sky, nothing recognizable from where they’d been before. Instead, there were trees and wildlife of a forest. “Where the hell are we?”
Zach sighed. He had a bad feeling that he knew the answer. “Salem. 1693.”

☙ TIL DEATH DO US PART ❧
And so it goes, after a thorough investigation, Sam Winchester and Charlie Sinclair discovered that the scythe is in the possession of Jo Harvelle. The pair, along with Cupid and Belphegor, found their way to the Roadhouse. With the help of Jo’s ghostly mother, Ellen, the four of them were able to retrieve the scythe and return it to its rightful place in the veil. With Death’s Scythe back in its resting place, the veil solidified again and the ghosts of New York returned to their designated afterlives.
☙ WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE YOU? ❧
This concludes our Halloween event. Thank you to all of those who participated and we hope you enjoyed your time! You may finish any event related threads to completion, but please do not post any more event related starters. The event discord will be up for as long as you need to tie up any plots!

For weeks things have seemed to have taken on a hush of boring silence since the seven deadly sins had taken control of the population of New York. Stacks of invitations made their way through the streets of New York, all stating a new event was on the horizon. Unknown Billionaire Dimitri Vizla was putting on a Charity Gala for Orphanages throughout New York. Taking care of children had always been a passion of his, and now that the craziness had quieted down, he thought this would be the perfect time to invite everyone and raise some money for those who needed it most.
The Gala will be hosted within The Prince George Ballroom, Champagne (For the adults), Apple Juice, and Water will be served with various snacks at the beginning, during which all the guests are welcome to converse while the host gets everything else in order. Guests can expect to be entertained by various shows, from acrobatics to a special performance by the children of Orphans Futures Alliance, Inc. Once everyone has fully arrived, dinner will be served. Seats can be chosen by the guests, filling up the tables as necessary.
There will be three main spots during this Gala:
The Main Room - This room is where all the guests will first enter into the Gala. Champagne (For the adults), Apple Juice, Water and Hors D'oeuvres will be served within this room, acting as a meet and greet of sorts.
The Dining Room - This is where dinner will start. Guests can enter here when the dinner bell is rung. Tables are open for anyone to sit where they’d like. After a brief speech from the Gala’s host, Dimitri Vizla, dinner will be served and even more conversation can begin.
The Dance Floor - The Dance floor will hold all the entertainment for the evening. There will be an acrobatics performance and a special performance by the children of Orphans Futures Alliance, Inc. There will also be music for the guests to fully enjoy themselves.
The event will begin March  27, on which day we will put a link in the Discord to the party server. The event will last a week, but we’ll leave the discord up for as long as people need it.
Event threads can either be done by the Dash and/or Discord.
Please make sure you direct any event-related questions to the main.
The event will have your muses dressing in formal entire, which means we encourage posts and graphics related to what your characters may be wearing to the event.
Please when posting outfits for the gala use the tag #tpgoutfits and for any other post related to the Gala please use the tag #thephoenixgala

Sin City Cure
The disease spread just as fast as it appeared. Normal good-natured people were suddenly giving in to their instinctual desires, and the Seven Deadly Sins were taking hold of the inhabitants in New York. Crime shot through the roof, while people lost themselves to the plague. Lust. Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Envy. Pride. With little hope for the unaffected to save the others they loved. The Angels, even while taking a hit to their divine powers, got together to try and fix the balance within the human’s souls. For a solid week, New York was in complete chaos, falling prey to violent crimes, like prostitution, petty theft, fraud, embezzlement, and drunk disorderly conduct. Some learned to fight it with the help of others eventually, but for those who could not, the Angels, along with Zatanna and Jesse, were able to craft a sort of spell that would put an end to the chaos once and for all. But of course, magic this powerful always comes with a price. This time, it was the wings of a strange bookshop owner that some barely even spoke to. Adriel. Not many will ever know the extent of this creature’s sacrifice, or why the initial influx of sin overload started in the first place, but now many of its citizens could feel the safe return of normalcy.
Now that New York is on the way to returning back to the good old days, how will its residents deal with the debris of wrongdoings? Many businesses have been either robbed or mobbed hit. Families saw a side of their loved ones they never knew existed. Some discovered darkness inside of themselves they had spent their entire lives pushing away.
The Seven Deadly Sins event is over. How will your muse deal with the after effects of this sin overload? The choice is up to you. You may continue to finish your event threads, but no new ones can be started. Please give this a like once you’ve read.
