Pairing: Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick x Lisa 'Badger' Compton

Rating: E (eventually, but not in this snippet)

Synopsis:

CIA operative Lisa Compton is assigned to the 141 - it's her responsibility to help Laswell coordinate infill and exfill, gather crucial intel for the team and provide plausible cover stories when they get into tight spots. There's one problem: Sgt. Garrick is the most insufferable, unprofessional, bull-headed boy she's ever worked with. Gaz's an immaculate soldier, ready to jump at Price's order and launch himself into the fray with his mind focused on one thing: completing the mission. But when Laswell assigns the new CIA operative 'Badger' to their team, he can't stop flirting with her, thinking about her soft curves and sharp wit more often than focusing on the job at hand. Laswell won't approve her transfer to another team. Price is threatening to bench him. Badger and Gaz won't talk to - let alone look at- each other. Ghost thinks Badger's nickname should be 'Insufferable Yank.' Soap wants them to fuck it out already.

Station Chief Laswell stood quietly in the corner of the briefing room, surveying the group seated in the briefing room. Her fingers idly tapped along the edge of her folder, watching operatives mutter alongside soldiers, the chatter covering the struggling projector on the table.

Captain Price rocked on his feet on the other side of the screen. “All right, settle in.” His voice snuffed out the conversations, chairs scuffling and people settling in the following silence. One last bark of laughter echoed across the space. “Garrick–”

“Sorry Sir.” 

Lisa huffed softly to herself as she caught Sergeant MacTavish punching Sergeant Garrick in the arm and the returned scowl.

At least one of the 141 seemed to want to take this seriously.

Had a panic attack that literally woke me up in the middle of the night last night and lasted until the early morning and let me tell you, that shit is TERRIFYING. Needless to say, I think I'm ready to go back to work.

A distraction. #My thoughts have been racing and I'm just begging for people to talk to me in my personal life to calm my anxiety down. #It feels debilitating at this point. It's literally taken over my life. #And I have my anxiety meds but I only just got them so I have to wait that 1-3 weeks for them to actually 'kick in.' #I really should have asked my new GP for the tiniest amount of benzos to get me through this recovery. #And I don't even have a follow-up appt. for my recovery but I am gonna call them on Mon. and ask for one for my own peace of mind. #I've called this office three times now over the course of three days to make sure what I'm feeling is 'normal.' #Anyway!!!

#dryad speaks #to get y'all up to speed i stated having some minor pain last week which i just assumed was pre period pain #it got a little more naggy up to my birthday but was more w/e #AND THE SUNDAY walking and sitting normally hurt #it was a little worse monday so i went to urgent care and they wanted me to get a ct scan but couldn't get me in anywhere until wednesday #literally 20 minutes after my scan yesterday the doctor calls and is like #'you have an abscess! we really think you should go to the ER asap.' #so here we are #they kept me overnight because of the infection but afaik i get to go home today #fucking wildest post birthday anything i've ever had lol

WAY FUCKING WORSE. #IT NEEDS TO GO TO PRINT TODAY. SHE IS NOT WORKING TODAY. #so what can i do? I gotta make the changes. Even though. why can’t this week just end alreadyyyyyyy

#rant about the week incomin’ in the tags bc ‘complaining’ is my unofficial middle name #this week has *not* been my week so far and it’s only wednesday morning #my horrible week commenced on sunday night when i was unable to sleep bc my pillow was oriented wrong #thus i had a grand total of 1 hour of sleep which was not very poggers tbh. so i tried to sleep on the train but… #the guy next to me??? kept swaying to lean on my shoulder??? so i hunched over to avoid physical contact but he just landed on my back?? #so that sucked balls. i kept having to wake up to push him away with my bag and then trying to go back to sleep. #but then!!! just as i fell asleep after one such instance!!! the guy’s phone alarm went off????? like?? why???? why would you set an alarm?? #we’re on a friggin train mannnnn!!!!! why did you have to set an alarm????????????? #and ofc when the dude finally alighted (and i was asleep) he just *had* to jab me in the side with his elbow when he got up. ಠ_ಠ #so that’s how i knew the rest of the week was gonna be just ✨peachy✨ #anyways manning 2 workstations (+ 1 bonus ‘mini’ workstation) on 1h of sleep isn’t very fun. esp if you’re incompetent af like me #and ofc there just had to be problems too. like the printers couldn’t print (and the systems crashed everytime i tried to print something) #and this sample running software kept closing itself in the middle of running samples so that was a pain to deal with #and tuesday (yesterday) wasn’t much better. in fact it was ✨worse✨. none of the 2 workstations could get started till like 10am and aaaaaa— #to make matters worse i had stubbed my toe so badly in the morning that my skin tore. so walking was ✨much pain✨ as well :( #and ofc yesterday had to be the one day where i had to walk back and forth an unnecessarily high number of times >:( sadded #and ofc they *had* to have an hour-long meeting about something or other towards the end of the workday when i had yet to eat my lunch >:( #(fell asleep during the meeting though bc it was boring as balls whoops) #and i could only take a half-hour break after that >:((( i wanted my full hour dammitttttttt #and ofc it was raining when i left and ofc it took like 25 mins for me to hail a taxi on this booking app bc i didn’t want to take the train #and ofccccc i misheard the taxi driver when he arrived and he roasted my chinese speaking skills. and ofcccc we were caught in a traffic jam #(i had a really nice hour long nap in the cab though so thanks traffic jam) #and thus ended my terrible 2 past weekdays. i’m drained af and it’s *only* wednesday morning????!!!!!!!!!!!!! #i’m mentally looping anzu no uta (imascg) to cope. ‘nu-uh i don’t wanna work’ so true anzu #i just wanna sleeeeeeep and wake up this weekend or sth idk it’s too early in the year for this #it is suiyoubi my dudes #may spam self-rb my monster-length character image/gif posts later to cope. you have been warned

#the Wednesday Curse is related to a span of about... almost 10 years of every single wednesday having something major go wrong #''major'' is a strong word but it would always feel big and afterwards would be when i would notice it was wednesday #it was a lot and i got very tired of it very quickly but it eventually stopped and i stopped noticing wednesdays #because they stopped being bad every single week #i would wake up on a wednesday bracing for whatever terrible news i would learn or whatever horrible thing would happen inevitably #and i stopped having to do that #my dreams lately have been absolutely horrific and last nights/this mornings was.... worse than usual in a way i wasn't anticipating that's #made me very very worried about a dear friend i can't easily reach out to and i'm doing my best at waiting patiently for a response #but it's hard and then the tire on the car exploded *again* so we're scrambling to figure out how to fix that and we've got a plan #and at least 3 butches on the job and it's going to be okay in the end but i have extreme car anxiety and tires going out is one of the mai #triggers for that and i'm just #i'm also still dealing with the tail end (hopefully) of an upper respiratory infection which makes all the crying i keep doing difficult #because i keep needing to hack my lungs out because breathing sucks rn even though i've had all my meds for it #and i'm just... it's just... anyway #i'm having a rough morning #but i am surrounded by people who are very lovely and care a lot and are willing and able to help with whatever they can #and that's helped a lot and it's just... i know i gotta wait patiently for resolution on things and i'm gonna do my best #to calm myself down and try to be less anxious but i'm only able to do that because of the love that surrounds me and it's a lot #it's all a lot and idk man #the spectre of my dad is doing his best to ruin it but he doesn't exist here in this space it's just a bad memory and no one is at fault
