Wet a line yesterday with the poet Don Johnson. Probably best know for his book “The Importance of Visible Scars,” he lives on the Watauga but we jumped across the mountain to fish the South Holston instead. I grew up fly fishing and spent a couple years after high school exploring the creeks of Cherokee National Forest and the Great Smokies. I’m not sure I recognized how spending so much time in the woods effected me. I can still remember @tennesseevalleyanglers once saying “It’s a good thing to develop a personal relationship with a body of water.” Glad to meet some more water this weekend even if it is a finicky tailgater. . . . . . . . #theimportanceofvisiblescars #donjohnson #southholstonriver #wataugariver #appalachianpoetry #flyfishing #flyfishingporn #appalachianliterature #appalachianlit #etsu #elizabethtontn #tennessee (at South Holston River) https://www.instagram.com/p/BttFXcHA5T-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1opkzizpptq72
