First impression: he's just a sweet lil lad. a sweet boy.. he seems so nice and shy and somewhat pathetic... i take pity on the lil squishy wizord in deadfire: damn aloth's old and cynical now lmAO

Impression now: this is tough bc i've slooowly started replaying deadfire and i forget most of my impression of him 🤔 I remember thinking that he makes a lot of very funny snarky comments and I liked how they gave him nervous stims esp with his hands. he just seems so done with all the bullshit and i feel that. I do wish he still had some of that sweet ladness left under all that cynicism though... but I think Rake thinks it's a little sexy

Favorite moment: bruh he propositioned Rake in the bathhouse literal seconds before tekehu did... i've been wanting to write a fic about it. besides that, there was a bit in the first game where rake failed a str check and aloth also failed a str check to help him and dislocated his shoulder and I just thought it was so sweet :-) so little rng things i guess... although i do like the comment he makes after you kill the memory monster in the wael dlc

Idea for a story: ok ok u know how i do like. vignettes. well i've been wanting to replay deadfire and sloowly make a fic abt their relationship? starting with the first time they enter the bathhouse maybe ahaha it'll be more playful in tone. my writing's improved a lot since i started the rake series and I still think about one comment I got that said they were so glad i was writing because barely anyone else did male watcher/aloth... 💀 i wrote like. three things and i still feel guilty about it sometimes

Unpopular opinion: oo boy! i feel like i stay so far away from fandom that i dont know what anyone thinks anyways LOL. ig just a general thing for me which is I'm not really a fan of romance? shippy stuff kinda gives me the ick 😅 For characters like aloth (esp bc i. dont like men lmao) I'm mostly drawn to their vibes and personality, and I really liked his whole wizard deal plus iselmyr and the abusive dad backstory ; i feel like there's a LOT of potential to dive into how that affects him that no one really explores

Favorite relationship: with edér :)) just two good ol boys. i like how theyre pals

Favorite headcanon: oo i dont really make these for characters esp if I like canon. i guess i'd like to further expand on how iselmyr functions for him, esp since in game it doesnt seem to follow specific rules or guidelines. does she come out when he's triggered? does she come out just to yell at me for friendly fire or to be upset when my unkillable ghost dog dies? how did he learn to function well in combat if she delivers attacks sometimes ("i dinnae con the spellybooks" girledfriend then woter u doing here? 😔) i guess i'd headcanon that there'd be a learning curve, esp since his first instinct was to fight/suppress her 🤔

10. Is there anything your oc wants or likes that they have to keep secret, like a guilty pleasure? Anything that would get them ostracized, attacked, or just insulted for saying it out loud?

He does genuinely love a good all-out fight with stakes, it's good for energy and stress relief. The kind where everyone has to go see a medic afterward, guaranteed. He doesn't really keep this heavily secret, but he does have a very flimsy at this point reason to keep carrying these fights out with Aildyn (your oc 💖)

And less of a guilty pleasure in terms of how others would view it but a HUGE guilt for himself, is love. Platonic or romantic, he does not let himself have that shit. It's absolutely shameful to him.

12. If your oc had one day of their life where they were being monitored for a full 24 hours, and they knew this, what would they change about their routine?

He wouldn't leave the Pact at all aside from missions. He would sleep in his office, which isn't unusual because he does have a pull-out bed there he uses often. You would see him work for a full 24 hours. No you do not get to see his social/private life, it's a busy work week and he has some catching up to do what can he say.

13. If your oc had one where they could do anything without being caught, what would they do?

IF AND ONLY IF this is guaranteed not at all caught, no chance of anyone knowing and no chance of lashback the next day, if every sign of his actions that day were completely erased.

He would go back to the bandit camp and try to retrieve any of Morgan's old weapons if any survived her death. Some were probably used afterward by other bandits and are very likely still floating around. He'd love to have those to remember her by.

I'm posting a bunch of anniversary questions asks, and my brain just tried to sing "the questions keep coming and they don't stop coming" to the tune of "All Star." I thought that was important information for you to have xD

4. Do you have a favorite playable race?

Sylvari. I really got into the game while playing on Kerra, and I really really love all the sylvari lore. I enjoy playing all the other races, too, though! (I think I have a semi-even amount of each race? I need one more norn to be more balanced, though. All right, next new character I make will be norn, you've heard it here, folks. xD)

5. How many hours have you played overall? (/age in game)

1767 hours, 35 minutes, apparently! :) That's over a bit more than two years now.

17. Favorite location?

That little space in the back of the Grove that you have to get to by swimming. Ever since I found it, it's been my favorite spot. But in terms of maps...maybe Dragonfall? It's very hard for me to pick one, but I do love that map.

Hmm... CURRENTLY it's the kitten that Connor brutally murdered. Now, if you go to that kitten and you pet it - it WILL die. I love those little touches. I love them so much. Luckily you can just pet the cat after it respawns :)

A location which is locked in an instance.

Orr - Cursed Shore - Artesian Waters.

It has so much sentimental value for me, it's where my favourite instance takes place, of COURSE I am going to bring it up... <3

19. Has this game inspired you for other things? If so, how?

I have never before engaged with a piece of media this much before. GW2 inspired me to make up stories and invest my time and art skills into them, which lead us to me making comics and character posts and stuff. So definitely art, story writing... I will actually confess that one day I wish people recognized me as a CC, but hey, who knows. Maybe one day.

There is also this one thing but I want to keep it private for now so I don't appear as "only talks big" and "bites more than she can chew" (although we all already know that the latter is a constant state for me...)

20. What would you like to see for the future of Guild Wars 2?

NECROBOW. I WILL DIE ON THAT HILL. N E C R O B O W. And appropriate shroud. Anet, we haven't had an appropriate shroud since HoT. I'm sorry but I do not accept Scourges or Harbingers - their shrouds are a HUGE letdown for me. Love the concept, but the playstyle isn't for me.

Aside from that, I would like more content for other races that are not humans. I'm sorry, human mains, but you literally are getting 90% of content. Since you're human, most armor is good for you by default.

I wish for more sylvari and norn armor. I wish for something more than what HoT came out to be when it comes to sylvari - we all know it was accelarated in production, come on.

I hope norn and asura will get more in the future. Imagine going fully underground into asuran ruins, similar to Rata Novus? Sorry, Rata Arcana isn't anywhere CLOSE to Rata N. Or imagine going to old norn steads in the far shiverpeaks, now that Jormag threat is gone?

AND FINALLY I would like GW2 to go back a bit with vibes. End of PS, LWs4 and EoD felt like winning, like there was some good in the world. Hope and stuff. It felt like a heavy weight was lifted from my shoulders. We didn't have that in so long, I just can't stress enough how much I needed it. I hope Anet will keep on delivering those light and pleasant emotions to me.

Also I would like all the players who play the game even though it's "the worst game they ever played" to pay me $100. /joke .....or is it a joke ;)

FIRST ANNUAL SOUP DAY HAPPENED!

I have been tagged in so very many soup posts and it makes me insanely happy. Please never stop tagging me about soup.

I worry about inspiring FOMO but I do want to brag: irl soup exchange was BOMB and I highly recommend gathering a queer nerd mini-convention. Shoutout to @foxholemonster who made unholy amounts of the Pokemon soup from that text post, and @thedreamsofgods who made thumbprint cookies so good they briefly time-traveled me like in Ratatouille. No one else is on Tumblr for me to tag them but somehow we also amassed a posole, a tortellini stew, and two bone soups, and I hope none of us have to cook for a myriad. (This is my tom kha, also made with bones. I forgot to take photos of other people’s bc hosting is chaotic).

Other benefits of queer nerd mini-convention: when you summon 100% nerd friends, you just get to skip the small talk and go straight to the special interests. I did not endure a single “where are you from” or “what do you do” but I did hear a lot about video games, awful roommates, and everyone's cosplay plans.

Assorted photos: My favorite coffeeshop’s decaf blend “Canaan” (a happy coincidence); part of Friday Afternoon’s TLT line of teas (not a coincidence); the goofy little skulls I crocheted for the vibes. (Ninja edit to add my friend’s ingredient list bc it deserves appreciated).

In summary: first annual Soup Day was loads of fun and I’ll be stoked to do it again next year. Belly and heart are both very full.

theres this way you handle color that I am absolutely struggling to figure out how to put into words. Like especially on cloth you have such gorgeous variation between the highlights and shadows, and the blush and gradients you do on skin and the way colors seem to blend specifically in your art? It's really lovely and when I see it it's like oh yeah I know who made that!

Matthias/Aildyn: already answered but i will reiterate that they are BOTH stubborn idiots <3

Charlie/Mar: Mar is more stubborn by a MILE thanks to their upbringing and life. No one can stick to a decision like them, and Charlie is so much more go with the flow!

27. What random everyday object/activity makes them think of each other?

Matthias/Aildyn: Matthias thinks of Aildyn when he sees birds and books, soft songs and poetry, they're art to him.

Charlie/Mar: Charlie thinks of Mar when she sees regal clothing, awards, and also long cloaks with hoods pulled up. That's her regal yet mysterious partner!

30. What is their favorite place to kiss the other? (Cheek, hand, closed eyelid, neck, nose, etc.)

Matthias/Aildyn: Matthias loves kissing Aildyn's neck and shoulders. Just holding them close, leaning into them and burying his face against them.

Charlie/Mar: Charlie loves kissing Mar right on the lips! Reveling in how she gets Mar all to herself, that they reciprocate every kiss and lean in too.

For Variott, Cio would greatly enjoy being friends with her! Cio didn't struggle in exactly the same ways--she had to deal with the negatives of the asuran education system (and Rata Sum in general) because they thought she was dangerous, not incapable--but she'd still understand a lot of that struggle, and she left to join the Priory just like Variott. Also, Variott would remind her a lot of her brother in some ways, including the size--Pliarr is nearly as short as him xD She'd be curious to learn/understand the ins and outs of mapmaking if Variott ever wanted to show her, also.

For Aildyn, you get Cyp! Main canon Cyprian would...not exactly be enemies with Aildyn, but would definitely never be on good terms with them. Cyp's own history with the NMC would make him incredibly wary of Aildyn, assuming he knew the basics of their background, and though I think they could be at minimum casual acquaintances over time, it'd take a while for Cyp to get to even that much trust. On the other hand, Commander!AU Cyp is ex-NMC and Soundless himself, so he'd not only be okay with that but would very much understand it. I can see them starting off on not-the-best terms even so--this Cyp is a little abrasive, and Aildyn's not the most open person in the world, lol--but Cyp would want to get to know Aildyn. And with enough time I could see them being (hopefully good) friends--assuming Cyp's emotional projection abilities didn't bother Aildyn to the point that that isn't possible.
