#exactly 🤝 precis 🤝 akkurat 🤝 genau #i learned about precis vs akkurat v quickly after arriving in norway bc i kept using 'precis' #and people clocked me immediately as 'learned some swedish at some point' #anyway this isn't to say that alternative versions like 'precisely' don't exist but they're not theeeee go-to version. right? #or is this down to personal preference / geographic/etc. variation #the worst part about being into linguistic variation is that the actual recorded data are fairly limited :/ #anyway i do enjoy going around asking various acquaintances 'how would you express [x]' / 'does [x construction] sound natural to you' #maybe. i should stay in academia. #wow amazing how every thought i have manages to eventually lead to the question #'what am i gonna do with my life once this semester is over' 🙃
