Worldbuilding is important in adaptations too, especially if you want to reach a larger audience than just those who already consumed this work in another format, and I feel like this series relied a lot on the viewer already having basic context or understanding the world completely throughout the episodes to really care about not just throwing the characters and this universe in our faces. I'm really enjoying the series, much more because this world is so interesting to me than anything else and I'm already starting to read the second book because I really want to understand what's going on and how things work in this universe and for these characters.

#I'm on episode 5 and I'm still a little confused about how this kingdom works #Or what their culture is like #or the age of the characters because they were drinking in a bar very naturally #or is there no drinking law in this kingdom? #Anyway there are a lot of questions and despite being half season I still feel like there are a lot of things left unexplained #the vampire academy #vampire academy

I did watch 10 episodes of Vampire Academy. It wasn't good, but I had hope that Dimitri and Rose have an happy ending and I didn't get that.

Now that season one is over: 😑😑😑

I will forever back the theory that tv adaptations of multi book series should just use the damn books as the scripts per season. I’d rather watch 5 or 6 amazing seasons rather than 7+ of crappy rewrites. The Vampire Academy series isn’t horrid, but book one had so much buildup that this season threw out the window and I hate it
