José Carioca in the suit of Emperor Pedro II-Happy 200th anniversary of Brazil! - Feliz 200 anos do Brasil!
Panchito Pistoles as Pancho Villa with his horse - Happy Mexican Independence Day! -¡Feliz Día de la Independencia de México!
Although I am late, I certainly dedicated two drawings related to two important events during this year and drew two caballeros, José Carioca and Panchito Pistoles related to their countries, Brazil and Mexico.
First José Carioca (Zé Carioca) is depicted in the suit of the Brazilian emperor Pedro II who was the most important ruler of Brazil in its history. On September 7, 1822, Brazil declared its independence from Portugal, which ruled the country. Prince of Brazil and son of King John VI of Portugal, Pedro proclaimed himself emperor as Pedro I. He would be succeeded by his son Pedro II under whose rule Brazil gained its greatest power. I drew José as Pedro II since that is his symbol, the symbol of Brazil. Two Brazilian flags can be seen behind José, one is the present-day flag of Brazil, and the other is the flag of the Brazilian Empire. Although it didn't turn out well, as there was a lot of detail around the medals, as well as the ceremonial 19th century imperial clothing, I still tried to mark the occasion, as Brazil is celebrating its 200th anniversary of statehood.
Panchito Pistoles celebrates September 16 as Mexican Independence Day when Mexico declared its independence from Spain. He is dressed as Pancho Villa, the famous Mexican revolutionary from the early 20th century, i.e. during the 1910s era. Of course, Panchito rides his horse, Señor Martinez who is usually a faithful companion. Anyone who has seen the movie The Three Caballeros and read the comics knows what I'm talking about. Since Panchito is holding two revolvers (a type of gun), he is not holding a flag, but a background of Mexican flags can be seen behind him. Happy Mexican Independence Day by all means!
I hope you like these drawings and even though I'm already late, I certainly wish happy anniversaries to the two most important Latin American countries, Brazil and Mexico!
Feliz Dia da Independência Brasil!
Go to Brazil or Brazil will come for you!
¡Feliz Día de la Independencia de México! ¡Viva México!
