Carmy enters your home like he lived in it. He had his own set of keys, it was easier that way. “I don’t want you to do that. I don’t want you putting your life on hold for me,” he rasps. “I don’t…”

“But what if I wanted to?” you asked, face slightly contorted because you didn’t want to be so vulnerable in front of him. Not when he hasn’t told you what you wanted yet. Carmy was just looking at you, tapping his foot on the floor. It was a nervous habit that he developed. Fuck, he needed a cigarette.

“Can you, uh, leave?” you asked, voice low. “I…” 

“No, no, no,” he begs, rushing towards you. He grabs a hold of your elbows to remind you that he was there. Would it mean anything? Would his touch convey all of the words he wanted to say? 

“Carm…” your voice breaks. “Carm…”

“No, no. You’re not just that to me,” he reassures “But you have to understand that-that I can’t love you like that.”

“Carmen, please…” you beg, tears brimming in your eyes. “Please…just, just leave,”

You’ve never asked him to leave before but it seemed like it was what you really wanted—like it was what you really needed. He nods, kissing your head softly before detaching himself from you. 

“I’m sorry,” Carmy said. “For-for not saying the right, uh, things.”

“Yeah,” you nod, hiding yourself from him. He hated that you had to do that when you’ve cried on his shoulders multiple times. He never liked seeing you cry; he just didn’t know that one day, he’ll be on the receiving end of your sadness. He watches you rub your forehead, biting your lip to stop yourself from crying. If you started crying, would he stay?

It’s been months since Carmy left. He’s been in his best form in the kitchen. He was making things easier for his staff; he was working twenty four hours a day. Going to The Bear early to help with prep; staying late to help them clean after a long shift of cooking and cooking and kitchen tours. He’s been getting acclaim—more acclaim, really. There was a waiting list on his restaurant and positive reviews from left and right flooded in. The Bear was dubbed as “The Restaurant of the Year” in Chicago despite being less than a year old. 

He’s been doing good—perfect. 

It was like he was a hamster in a fucking wheel with no other way to escape. He likes putting himself in gear, like driving fast because it makes him believe that nothing really hurts him. He didn’t like being at home; it reminded him too much of you. It reminded him of when you’d lean on the kitchen counter, a small smile on your lips while you watched him cook you something. He didn’t like sitting on the couch because it reminded him of when he slept with his head on your lap. He didn’t like it in his bedroom because he’s reminded of that night when you pulled him closer in your sleep. He didn’t like The Bear because the painting that you gave him hung so proudly by the dining area. It was marvellous—they said. How was he able to get a painting that you did when your art was so valuable and in demand? 

He was moving so fast so you wouldn’t cross his mind but it seemed like no matter what he did, he'd end up thinking about you anyway. 

It didn’t matter, how come a fall like that made him feel like flying? Maybe he’s waiting for it to hit him but he was feeling alright. 

He was alright. 

“Chef!” Sydney called, looking at Carmen who was chopping the vegetables like a madman. “Carmen!”

“Fuck, what, Sydney?!” he asked, slamming his knife on the counter. 

“You’re bleeding,” Marcus told him and Carmen looked down, blood was all over the chopping board. “You’ve been bleeding for a few seconds now…we’ve all been calling your name, Chef.” 

“Fuck, I-I-I’m…” Carmen was a blubbering mess, just watching his hand bleed like it didn’t matter. “I’m-I’m,”

“Take a break, Carm,” Sydney says but her partner just shakes his head. “Carm—“

“Sydney, don’t—don’t make me take a fucking break, please.”

“You’ll need to clean up and make sure there’s no more blood,” Sydney told him. “I’m not fucking around,”

“Yeah,” he nods, putting his fist over his heart and drawing circles. Sydney nods and Carmy fixes his station. 

He couldn’t stop shaking, though. Even Tina saw how his hand trembled. What the fuck?

“Carmen,” 

“Yeah…just…just give me a second, please.” he nods, picking his knife again and doing everything perfectly. Like clockwork. He’s back. He’s back. He’s fine. I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m alright.

Reading all your posts and analysis really change some concepts about how I see these characters

I was rewatching 10x9 and 10 in this weekend, the whole thing about Sam and Cas judging Dean for killing those men who tried to harass Claire is hypocritical

Especially coming from the same man that almost made a dude had his soul burning in hell for eternity for the crossroad deal and his own agenda

To be fair about 10.09, I do think the real scary part is supposed to be that Dean blacked out and wasn't in control of his actions. He was getting angry, he got smacked in the head, everything went dark, and when he came back to awareness, all those men were dead. He had prophetic dreams about the incident prior as well (one for the psychic!dean folder jsdfjhsbdf). I'll certainly laugh and say they deserve it, but Dean's worries about it (and to an extent, Sam's and Cas's) aren't completely illegitimate.

But yeah season 10 is all about Sam's hypocrisy and the fallout of how he's treated Dean the last two seasons, and family chains, and how Sam is kind of a disturbing person actually despite the outwardly "scary" person being Dean. Dean may have a murder curse, but Sam, under no Supernatural influence, is getting people killed left and right all in his brother's name and directly against Dean's wishes... all after two seasons of behaving, for the most part, as if Dean was beneath him and a worse person than him who would go to lengths Sam would not (when the exact opposite is true).

We establish that Sam the real disturbing person here despite outward appearances immediately in the opening of 10.01 when we get this dialogue:

I heard the rumors. I said "no, that can't be." A Winchester, one of us? But it's true, isn't it? Whatever soul you had; whatever boy scout code you cuddled up to at night; it's all gone. Leaving what? Look at you!

The camera focuses on the demon only when she says this, not showing us who she's talking to at first. They want to misdirect us into thinking she's talking to Dean, whose eyes we just saw turn black at the end of 10.23. But she's actually talking to Sam.

Final thoughts on Trollhunters!

(Spoilers for the book)

ARRRGH!!!'s death seems very cathartic to me. Kind of like closure in an odd way, and it makes sense to the story.

Claire being literally the most badass Trollhunter is such a Claire thing. I love her.

Toby. Just Toby.

Jim getting that moment with his dad after the final battle was such a sweet thing. Just Jim in general. Book Jim was like S1 Jim if S1 Jim had S3 Jim's attitude.

Jack Sturges, hello yes I love you. He's like Douxie but physically younger and more bloodthirsty. Just his whole "I'm actually in my 50s but I still look and act 13, I'm very tired" thing. I love that.

Jack and Jim sharing that crazed love of the hunt and being invigorated by battle was one of my favorite things. Jim realizing that he's only good at Trollhunting and absolutely loving it. Has my whole heart.

Blinky, ARRRGH, and Jack being family to eachother???? It made me think that the showrunners took inspiration from that to give us Jim and Blinky's father/son duo and I'm living for it.

BLINKY AND JOANNA M. ARRRGH WERE IN LOVE AND YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. Yet another thing that was translated into the show and I love it dearly.

It was really nice being able to see which things were clearly taken from the book and put into the show. I loved it with my whole heart.

Jim and Toby were in love in this book.

Claire with a Scottish accent. Yes I love it. I want more of it.

This book is one of the best I've ever read. I might be biased, but I don't care. It's a good story, and I kind of wish there had been more than one book. I would love a series of just these characters.

Claire and Jim at the end tho. The jlaire was so real.

Also, literally ending the book by all of them murdering Steve upon finding out he's a changeling was so funny to me.

i think it's totally cool to enjoy leon and ashley as a platonic dynamic. but the whole "sibling coded" take really rubs me the wrong way bc it feels like it's used as a way to devalue their relationship? especially by a certain subset of shippers. they can't deny that leon and ashley have a strong bond and are clearly very important to each other, but they can make it less of a "threat" by insisting that canon portrays them as "totally platonic siblings" when that is not the case at all

It's modern fandom's way of engaging in casual misogyny in a socially acceptable way. Ashley's not allowed to have her own sexual agency, despite literally asking Leon to fuck her in OG.

There are so many kids in modern-day fandom who just wish they were back in my generation's days of outright calling a female character a slut and wishing death on her because she gets in the way of a ship. Oh dear lord do they wish they were still in those days.

But those days are long gone and they know they'll get jumped on for saying shit like that, so suddenly they just decide one day that they'll read the relationship as "found family" without understanding what the found family trope actually is, just so that they can turn it into "sibling/incest" discourse. Or they make up some fantasy about how the 7-year age gap is "problematic" when literally anyone who goes outside and engages with society in the real world would call that fucking insane.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again: reading Leon and Ashley as siblings is just an incorrect interpretation of Leon, and you are misunderstanding his character on a fundamental level if you interpret him this way.

Leon is the Protector archetype. That's literally what's at the core of his entire character arc. He fights for a government he doesn't trust in ways he doesn't believe in, because he has to in order to protect somebody (Sherry).

That's still fucking true after RE4. It doesn't just go away. That's literally the reason why he turns down Ashley's proposal to become her security detail. He can't do that, because he still has to dance to the gov't's tune, because he still has to worry about them possibly hurting Sherry if he doesn't.

And if Leon really felt like Ashley was family -- the way that he feels Sherry is family? He would never have cut her out of his life post-RE4. That's not who he is. He is a Protector with a need to protect, and he's stubborn as fuck about it and won't ask for help.

Sure, Leon can't emotionally bring himself to actually have a relationship with Sherry because of the crippling, overwhelming guilt he feels... but he still checks on her. Even if she doesn't know it, he's still watching over her, still making sure she's okay.

He doesn't do that for Ashley.

Because Ashley isn't family.

Ashley was someone who got too close, so he pushed her away. Just like he did to Claire in her RE3 epilogue and again at the end of ID. And he's trying to do the same thing to Chris, but Chris is somehow more stubborn than Leon is, even, so it's not working.

Men and women can be just friends. It's not one or the other -- romance or family. Sometimes? They're just friends. And canonically? That's what Leon and Ashley are. They're friends. Until he pushes her away, just like he did all his other friends (except Chris who's more immovable than the boulder he punched into a volcano). And she won't be the last person he does it to, either. It's just how he is.

ALRIGHT. LIVEBLOG COMPLETE. Claustrophobic Hallway never appeared, although there was a generally claustrophobic feeling to the whole film due to the very tight shots sometimes. i was haunted by the vague sense that i should know more about this movie than i did, lol.

in summary: ethan hunt is such a good boy and he is having SUCH A BAD TIME. literally at the end of his harrowing revenge/name-clearing adventure he just gets on a plane to england-- maybe back to those london apartments he liked? seems like it would have bad memories now, which has some interesting implications for how ethan deals with his traumas, namely “go roll around in them for a while and see if they start to feel comfortable instead of horrifying”. he’s so disillusioned with the whole pack of them that the tells luther he can’t imagine why he’d be doing it if he went back, and promises to remember luther as “disreputable”.

something i noticed while going back to get some screengrabs to illustrate a few of these points-- in the team briefing, the whole team is never framed together around the table. in fact, i believe this is the only time we’ll even see them all in the same frame. in the opening shots, sarah is on the other side of the room, pulling the shade down. claire is sitting next to ethan, and ALWAYS finds a way to be very close to ethan outside of the actual operations, which leads me to wonder how much of the Chemistry™ was being manufactured even this early on (and, by extension, earlier than the film shows us.) also poor hannah gets almost no job on this op and almost no characterization in this movie. they could have cut her out entirely and nothing would have been lost.

also in retrospect there were more clues about claire’s culpability-- she tells ethan later (during the Aggressively Sexual Frisking) that she walked away when the abort was called, but we SAW HER sitting in the car, watching ethan speedwalk past her with a frown, after she said she had already complied with that order. ethan says this when he's holding her at gunpoint, and she never actually produces a compelling explanation, she just kind of hustles us all past that by getting teary-eyed! excellent manipulation! she already knew the plan at that point, and presumably if ethan had complied with the command to abort the mission, he would have been somewhere else that claire and jim had predicted he’d be for their frame job to work. possibly claire’s Wiles would have come into things at some point there, instead of the 4am Frisk that ended up happening.

also also not to be "ethan hunt is feminine-coded" on main, but ethan hunt has quite a few Cinematically Feminine traits, especially in this action spy genre. he is the subject of violence, not the performer of it. he runs AWAY from confrontations instead of engaging them. his most successful grifts are Conversations and Disguises, and he mostly uses those tools to de-escalate. claire tells him how many bullets he has for his TWO GUNS at one point, and he never fires a single one. he is blind-folded, taken to the villain's lair, charms the villain with his good looks and witty banter. his one moment of really Macho Aggression is in a panic after a PTSD nightmare, is ultimately defused, and never recurs. will be interested to see how this develops in further films.

10/10, if ethan hunt was a dog he would be a border collie.

might be a hot take but i wish more people played with the idea of main re characters as B.O.W.s/infected with something for reasons other than horny (like how people make chris a lycan or leon a dominant plaga host for strictly horny reasons) when 1) B.O.W. designs can be fucking cool and 2) it can tap into interesting psyches and characters’ philosophies about the world of B.O.W.s and these viruses. the closest i ever see is piers as a j’avo or plaga leon or slightly more interesting designs for moldy ethan and like. that’s just because they happened in canon.

idk i feel like stuff like t-veronica claire or j’avo merah or a more mutated adult sherry are cool concepts. feels like untapped potential for cool shit

Not to talk about plaga Leon more but seeing as he is my wheelhouse I have the most to say about him here but like. My favorite things to dive into with it is how being infected but still retaining his humanity and his mind interacts with the rest of his biology. Our version of the plaga that Leon gets is a Dominant that has Regenerator properties mixed into it, so how does that work with the rest of his human biology when it comes to wound and sickness recovery, how does it play into losing any of his extra limbs hes gained, stuff like that y'know? For our AU too Leon gets visible scarring where his mutations occur because his are retractable at will, but it still leaves some permanent marks and damage on his body in exchange for not looking like that all the time, and That kinda stuff is what I find way more fascinating to work with for infected AU's.

And that's not even getting into the psychological effects like you said, like how does it change their relationship to the world around them, their everyday routines, even how they interact with other people on a wider scale and those that they're close with? Did they develop new fears and aversions from those changes? Are there things they used to be able to do that they can't now either because of something physical or because mentally its too hard to do with all these added changes? Stuff like that is grounds for good character introspection and I love digging into the meat of it all.

Once I actually get around to watching Code Veronica I will probably have stuff to say about infected Claire cause no one ever does enough with my girl and I would love to explore that for her :)

More mutated Sherry would be So fuckin interesting because honest to fuck her only having some permanent youth shit thanks to the virus is insane and I hate it. Her dad was a fuckin G monster!!! Hell she had that infection AROUND HER EYE there is no reason not to keep that there and maybe even give her some permanent vision difficulties from it. With the advanced healing processes you could go with something like her scarring way more easily whenever she gets hurt, and like, scar tissue can be painful after awhile if it builds up too much. You could get into her dealing with chronic pain issues from it and how that would affect her in the long run too. I know thats not mutations specifically but it's still Something infinitely more interesting and with further reaching consequences to being infected than "oh yeah shes permanently youthful from it and has super healing" like!! You have the building blocks to push it further!! Go further with it!!!!

Overall I just agree with you that people don't ever both in canon and in fandom works push things to the degrees they can and it's sad because there's SO much potential to do so, why stop at the baseline for stuff??

But then again the ending was subjective and imo very rushed but i think Leon did a good thing bc he was honestly just watching out for Claire. One of my favorite bits about mi1 is that the initial team is half women, something that never occurs ever again. but I also think it’s sweet and I like that ethan has a girl squad especially because the later movies love to make up a woman with the exact same problem that Ethan has in that movie. It’s great!

somehow i never actually answered this but it's an excellent point and im thinking about it. yes I also love the MI1 team dearly and I'm grateful to mcq for steering us back in that direction (it seems) finally for dr2. and MI1 generally has some really fun women, max is so much of what makes MI1 great, so is Claire IMO. I have a complicated relationship with the way MI1 condemns Claire morally, which is a topic for another post, and weakens the MI1 themes to me as well as my overall feeling about how MI1 treats its women.

one thing MI does really well as a rule is giving ethan thematic parallels with the women he's paired with, making them a narrative foil instead of (or as well as) a love interest. Claire/Ethan parallels are essential to MI1 working as well as it does. Nyah/Ethan parallels are what save MI2 in my estimation. Julia/Ethan parallels are the weakest, and tbh i blame JJ Abrams for that, it's more of a situation where Julia is a conduit for Ethan's arc which...it makes sense given how much shit he's projecting on her but I would like it if she had a "reality" that resisted the "fantasy" and made her more of a thematic partner to Ethan. Maybe she's using Ethan as an escape too, maybe she needs Ethan to fill some thematically relevant emotional wound, anything that would center her mental state more in the movie, JJ. anyway moving on--jane/Ethan! Jane is not a love interest at all but she's a massively interesting narrative foil! Ilsa/Ethan is fascinating, Ilsa's arc has so many echoes of MI2, MI3 era Ethan. Ilsa incorporates Ethan's showmanship, his physicality, his earnestness, while still having her own "code." She's a killer, she's a fighter, and she is way less passive than Ethan in reaction to getting hurt. fucking Alanna/Ethan is a whole can of worms that i think about no joke every single fucking day recently but in a phrase alanna embodies Ethan's corruption in MI1 that ethan has been running from and hiding from everyone for a very long time now. And she's a strong parallel with MI1 Ethan and i would argue Max and Claire, the corrupt power-hungry women. Grace/Ethan, Grace embodies the criminal past Ethan is finally ready to accept as part of him, and her arc of being able to make the radical choice to protect others is the culmination of the entire franchise. Anyway to get into the weeds a bit i have an issue with MI and it's that the women are young. Angela Bassett is a nice exception in Fallout but her role is minor and administrative. I just wish Ethan had a powerful narrative foil that was his age. He's survived so much, he's one of the only people who's lived as long as he has in this business, and I think it would be really cool for him to be interacting with another player in the field, where you feel their age and the weight and power of it, and have that character be a woman. Idk this is why in my unrealistic fantasies claire survived mi1 to replace kittridge's role in DR1, obviously that's not in the control of mcq or anyone but it would just be so cool. Anyway that's my only beef with MI's treatment of its female characters, which is generally so much better than I normally see. I get so irritated when movies try to make me invested in a relationship based on attraction rather than a thematic connection between the characters, and part of that is that I've been spoiled by MI, where female characters play such meaty roles and have their own arcs alongside and in parallel/conflict with ethan.

previous anon about Carlos should have been in here: there is a few things about RE2R that I wish wasn't left out was Chris having anything to acknowledge why he didn't tell Claire himself he'll be "taking time off" and she had to hear it in the midst of the world ending from Marvin (in OG2 we find a file saying can't tell Claire I'm being watched and she would want to come with me to guard my back... does that get addressed in OG code veronica? i don't remember much all I remember is Chris "I always keep my promises"... hi call back in Village Mia in the cells says something like "you promised you would keep us safe") and Jill already being there and suffering/tying up loose ends (she had a planned time to leave its on her calendar and suffering is the pills on her bedside table and that letter "barely eating/ barely sleeping") the only people she had with her is Carlos and Tyrell and they were ubcs

the only form of "jealousy" i want to see from Chris when it comes to Carlos is none (maybe a little angst about Carlos did something Chris didn't which is get to Jill in time). Welcome back! There was a lot in the first paragraph, so I spent the day rereading and poking at what events you're talking about. I know after reading the rest of this ask that there's something I need to state.

I don't know what train of canon these movies are going for post-RE2 Remake (2019). Vendetta dropped in 2017 the same year as RE7 and as far as we know follows the canon timeline of all the games prior aka RE0-RE6. But after this? Infinite Darkness and Death Island? Entirely up in the air. With all the changes they're shifting to make things more realistic they could be going from the remakes, but Infinite Darkness dropped before the RE4 Remake and takes place after those events. Other than hard dates for what movie or game happens when, I'm genuinely adverse even considering touching which canon trail the movies and animated series are following from 2021 forward. The best I can do is say the original games are one canon, the remakes are another, and they're not supposed to be interchangeable, but Capcom is trying to shove them into one box for???? reasons??? (Money. The reason is money.)

I always try to compare them as separate trails just to see what the remakes try to pull from the original games based on inspiration and improvements. One of the most notable changes they make for the remakes is how important information is delivered to the player.

In the original games they make you read a lot. There are tons of documents and files sprinkled all over the area, in desks, behind paintings, on the ground, in lockers, on doors, in windows, in safes, under chairs, on the stairs, buy my wares, it's all over the place! And it's overwhelming! Especially because you don't even need half of the information you find to progress. It's good for people who want to know lore, but if you're a seasoned player, you can filter out the lore from the "this has a hint or keycode I need to unlock the next area". So you won't read what you don't care to read meaning character beats like Chris' notes can be skipped with no consequence other than losing some of the story. By having a different character voice this information to the player, you can't skip it. You are getting vital information that helps enrich the backstory and the nuance of the characters and the world around you in those same bites of time.

The best example of this is the changes they did for Luis from Resident Evil 4. In the original, you learn all of his information, his backstory, his motives, everything about him through a fuck ton of notes and letters that are very easy to skip or miss. From a storytelling perspective, there's no value in that. If you miss most of this information, he's just some guy the entire time, who's kinda sexist, and gives you bullets and healing items. In the remake, he's telling you and showing you who he is through his actions. You the player get to see his motivations and character through cut scenes with Ada and Leon with minimal sleuthing with a couple pictures and a singular journal you find that may or may not relate to him. And the last edges of the truth come out in just a couple documents in his lab before the final boss fight. It's not through this 20 page lore dump that's supposed to inspire sympathy at the end of the game. This change worked because everyone wants to fuck Luis now.

So it's small, but I do appreciate Marvin being the one to tell Claire about Chris. It highlights that Chris trusted Marvin adding a little more sadness to his death because maybe they were friends. It let's the audience know that Chris talks about Claire at work enough that Marvin knows how important she is therefore telling the player Chris cares about her a lot. It also lets Claire and the player receive this information very painlessly because not everyone is a completionist who needs to play the game 50 times and wring everything out of it.

As for Chris being in a bad situation with Claire and Jill, I really don't think that's the case. I know Chris drops the ball sometimes, but it's not on purpose, and it's never out of malicious intent. He tries, and he beats himself up when he fails. He's his own biggest critic because he's lost so many people, and it hurts him to see others doing what stupid shit he does, because he doesn't want them to get hurt. He wants the people he cares about to be better than him.

Chris did blame himself for not being there for Claire in Raccoon City, and he apologized to her in Code Veronica. As for not holding Claire's hand through the bars, I don't know how he would've done that.

Look at Jill's hand and how she grasps one of the bars of the cell. The gaps are very narrow, and Chris has huge arms. Maybe Claire could squeeze a limb through, but she'd have to bend her arm very awkwardly for Chris to make that reassuring contact unless they both sat on the floor. I know he very much did want to hold her hand, and I do blame the directors for not giving us a single Redfield hug. But I don't think it was a matter of Chris not wanting to make sure she's okay. He does love Claire. This movie was terrible about showing that kind of care between literally everyone in the cast.

As for Chris being on bad terms with Jill, I can't say that's true either. This movie takes place 6 years after Wesker is finally dead. Presumably that means this is Jill's first year back on the field since her traumatic event. Chris isn't going to leave her on radio silence after all they've been through together. She's not Leon. I like to believe Chris was there for her through a lot of her recovery and probably endorsed her return to the BSAA because she wanted to come back. It's a small moment, but when Chris first approaches her in the shooting range, Jill tells him not to worry about her and passes him a water bottle. There's an understanding here. Their friendship isn't gone nor diminished, but Jill is putting herself under a lot of pressure, and Chris doesn't know how to take that weight from her shoulders. That's why their conversation deteriorated the way it did.

As for Carlos, I think he'd have mixed feelings on knowing him helping Jill survive was a boon for Wesker, but I don't think he'd beat himself up for it. At the time, there were only two options which were save Jill or let Jill die. He's no scientist that could synthesize an alternate cure, and he cares about Jill as deeply as she cares about him. In any variation of the events of 1998, he wouldn't have let her die if he had the power to prevent it. He also knows if their roles were reversed, she would do the same for him. Yes, it's awful that Wesker manipulated Jill for a fact of her body she had no control over, but I'm sure Jill and Carlos would've had a long talk about not playing the blame game if the conversation came up between them. Capcom had to get rid of Carlos (and Sheva) because he actually has decent communication skills, and that doesn't work for their half-assed written angst dynamics.

Also don't get me started on RE7 and RE8 because I have a bazillion words about the Winters family and Chris. Like...too many...

But I'm happy you're having fun making fun of the film! I'll be doing that myself during my rewatches as I write out my rewrite with Carlos.

Alyson Court: Yeah, I always wanted to explore the Clesker aspect.

Kicking off my little Clesker evidence file is none other than Claire Redfield herself, Alyson Court. She blessed us with her lovely voice in the Resident Evil series from 1998 to 2009, and becoming the embodiment of Claire Redfield. Alyson also played memorable roles such as Loonette from "The Big Comfy Couch," Lydia from "Beetlejuice," and finally Jubilee from "X-Man." Many fans came to regard her as the sole Claire over the years, and she is truly missed.  I still want her back.

Anyway, we know Waugh has given his thoughts on the Clesker pairing, and now it's time for Alyson's opinion. If you haven't read that, the link is right here.

Host 1: "They brought you back as Claire in The Darkside Chronicles and The Mercenary 3d.  Whereas Claire's story was either a rehash of old events or there was no story at all. Which would you prefer: to simply return as Claire in any capacity, or to have her story explored further?"

AC: "You know, as an actor, I always relish new material, so anything that allows me to expand on new material is great. Or what was done previously and go into new territory. I'd like to see something new with her story line, but having said that, I think they've done *inaudible,* and each time we've done something. During the original Resident Evil 2, Code veronica and then coming back to do The Darkside Chronicles. It wasn't the same experience cause there was a different feel with the game, I mean the game has very different game play. So it was quite an interesting performance we did, and that was great, and then doing Operation Raccoon City again was a very different experience. I don't know how many times you can go back and do something different with the same source material. Eventually you will have to move on if you're going to continue with those characters. So I guess, in terms of my own hope, I can continue as Claire. Yes, I would love to see a whole new storyline start for her."

Host 2: “Yeah, I'd like to know, aside from Claire, of course. Who would your favorite character be in the entire franchise?”

AC: (laughs as her inner fangirl mode is activated) “I have a thing for Wesker, I have to admit.”

Host 2: “I think we all do.”

AC: "So when you were talking about the new story line and stuff.  Yeah, there's a big part of me that wishes for a CLAIREX WESKER game. They had some stuff going on in Code Veronica X, and the way it was kind of left hanging, it felt like the two were definitely going to meet up again in the future. So I would like to see that happen.”

Host 3: "As would we all, as would we all."

We as Clesker fans could’ve had a Clesker game, an entire Clesker game for us. We would’ve been fed until the end of time.

SB: “Yeah, Wesker is awesome.”

AC:”Yeah, um. I don't know why it could be in the original voice, but what Richard Waugh did for Resident Evil 2 (She meant 4) was pretty fantastic. Now D.C. Douglas, it's just like what great guys and it's like how can you not love whatever character they’re voicing? Um yeah, I just keep, I get caught up in the fan fiction stuff and I have this naughty dark side where Claire and Wesker have a thing going on. But you know I ought to keep that to myself.”

SB: “And that would be crazy, because Chris and Wesker hate each other.”

AC: “Yes”

SB: “When they get into a room together, (lol) it's just madness. Could you imagine Chris's reaction, with his big, gigantic muscles pounding and hitting the walls, when he finds out Claire and Wesker might be having a thing? He wouldn't be too happy.”

AC:“No he wouldn't, but that would be an interesting-added dynamic to the storyline. See and then you can give, well imagine the internal conflict for Wesker. If he found himself falling for Claire, and he's reminded that wait "This is Chris Redfield sister, I hate Chris Redfield and YET fond of Claire". There would be so much inner turmoil, it would be wonderful.”

Alyson was truly ahead of her time, and I see a lot of female characters in a gray area, falling for bad guys.

The final tidbit of Alsyon-loving Wesker, came from a 2009 anime convention in California. The panel included Roger Craig Smith (Chris), Karen Dryer (Sheva), Paul Mercier (Leon), Liam O'Brian (RE5), and Alyson Court (Claire). Everyone is having a good time, and if I could find a better quality video with the entire length, I'll add it. The panel gets crazy, and the RE actors are asked what's their favorite character and cookie is. Starting with Roger Craig Smith.

Jill Valentine! I love everything about her character, how badass and determined she is.

Carlos Oliveira! I know he's only in the one game but the fact that it made me wish there was more of anything on him says a lot. I love his personality and how he can see the bright side of things even as shit hits the fan.

👀When did you first get into resident evil?

I must admit it was the movie Resident Evil. I didn't know much about the series itself, though I knew the games existed. I love zombies and it was a fun/scary zombie action movie for me.

🏆What was your first game?

RE3Remake and yes it was so I could play as Jill and Carlos lol. It's also the only game I will be able to play because I can't play horror games. First game that I watched being played was RE7 and that one was so much fun to watch!

Toss up between RE3Remake and RE7. Those were my first two games and they still stand out for me as my favorite. Runner up would be Donna Beneviento's home in RE8.

Lady Dimitrescu! Yes I was one of those fans from when she was first introduced lol

😇A character you wish didn’t die?

Ethan and Elena (villager in re8). Ethan I think is obvious because he’s a man doing everything he can to save his wife and then his wife and daughter. He goes through hell twice to only end up making the ultimate sacrifice. While I can get it, I wish he got the happy ending.

Elena may seem odd but I don’t know, I was honestly really sad when she did die. I had so much hope she would live, that maybe Ethan would have someone to talk to other than fighting all the monsters but nope, they killed her!

🚨Do you have an opinion that is deemed unpopular?

I don't think so? My only major opinion is Jill and Carlos end up together and I think that is received well.

📺Do you enjoy the CGI movies?

Yup! I'm always willing to enjoy a good zombie action movie, though I didn't like how they ended things between Claire and Leon in Infinite Darkness.

Jill lol I love her!

🦝Have you seen Welcome to Raccoon city and did you enjoy it?

Nope but I do plan to watch it at some point. I do think there may be some directions with characters I won't care for but I can still enjoy it as one of many versions of Resident Evil.

⏰Are there any characters you wish had more screen time?

Carlos!! He's only in one game and I want more of him! Also Jill.
