Natalie and Lottie are constantly butting heads, vying for control of the group. Lottie wants everyone to understand The Wilderness and how it works, and Nat is trying to make everyone realize that it’s all bullshit. (is it?)

neither of them asked for it — to be opposing each other, locked together in a possibly never-ending battle — but it’s how it has to be.

but agreement and opposition are two sides of the same coin. they can’t escape each other even while they try. they’re forever interlocked by their contrasting opinions.

and interlocked by the crash. a plane fated to fall with both of them inside, alive in the aftermath. angry at being in the middle of nowhere, fighting for authority in the situation, stuck together nonetheless. unable to escape their circumstances or each other.

stags do the same thing.

they battle — literally butt heads — for a mate or for control of the herd. it’s a constant back-and-forth, back-and-forth; antlers trying to wound bad enough that the other will back down, or kill if they need to. if one thinks he’s better for the group than the other, this is how it has to be.

but sometimes they get stuck. the complex structure of antlers intertwining and locking them together.

it’s a great juxtaposition; angry, fighting, stuck together. unable to escape.

eventually, they’ll find a way to escape they grasp they were locked in. but the anger remains. the fight remains. and they fight again and again until one remains; victorious or surviving. the other defeated or dead.

Lottie and Natalie may have separated after their rescue, but they’re still angry. Lottie doesn’t understand what The Wilderness still wants, Nat still thinks it’s all bullshit. they battle until they finally reach an understanding; one surviving, one dead.

The amount of nonbinary people I've encountered that in some way relate their gender to deer is not insignificant, and I wonder why that is. Everyone always talks about nonbinary people and frogs but i think there's something here with the deer

#Sword speaks #like with me it's the antlered doe phenomenon #I identify with them in a way I don't do to other animals with similar hormonal deviations #like maned lionesses #I first started to identify with them when I learned I had pcos but didn't have the vocabulary at the time to articulate why #aside from the fact they had a similar hormonal deviation to me #(and even having pcos was a euphoric thing cause the thought was that it reinforced my not-a-normal-woman feeling)#cause I didn't associate the antlered does with womanhood or manhood but what I thought of #as the ability (and permission) to be Other than or Between #I later realized that was nonbinary gender euphoria but this was before I knew being nb was really a thing #I even wrote a short story about a character named Doe getting teased by their community #and them going to an Elder who recognized them as both Doe and Stag #(bro egg-me was trying so hard to figure it out)

So, speaking of season 3... I'm curious about what would be Mal's storyline in the next season. The guy just found out about his family and his amplifier status just one day ago before he decided to die and literally died. So when he finally gets on his own and has time to heal, has time to process things, would he be interested in learning more about his root? Morozova family? Since their story still tied to "consequence of using merzost", "creating amplifiers" and Shadow Summoners, which will also tie to dark!Alina arc in season 3 (and possibly potential solutions). Besides, Mal has spent time studying and reading stuff when he searched for the Firebird (I wish they had shown us more about it) and that's how he learnt about Sankta Neyar and the Neshyener Sword. He might have time to do a little side mission before (or while) he and the crew are trying to find out what the heck of a mess are happening in Ravka xD

And since he brought back to life by merzost (the same thing that Baghara's father did to bring back her sister), what will happen to him now? What is he now? What is the consequence of using merzost that Baghra has warned them about, is it truly just about Alina? So many questions.
