I Can't Help Falling In Love With You by @amusedowl - Feysand Angst set in an Apocalyse au (👻👻 - you're going to need tissues for this one, but you can turn them into spooky ghosts after!)

Say less)

NSFW
Modern:
Confessed Sins and Ripped Stockings by vxlkyrie7 - Feyre attends a halloween party and goes home with an unfairly gorgeous priest (👻 - spooky spice!)
Is There A Word For Bad Miracle by @separatist-apologist - That time Rhys stumbled on Feyre committing a murder and decided he had to have her (👻👻 - who says murder doesn't count as foreplay?)
Canon:
Would You Like Me On My Knees? by @starfall-spirit -  Angered by her deception, Rhys sends Feyre home, freeing her from their marriage and bargain made Under the Mountain, all too soon finding that to be the worst mistake he's made in five centuries. (👻👻 - mean beast!Rhys makes an appearance in this Silver-Tongued Bride offshoot!)
Five Times the Beast Was Subdued (and the One Time It Wasn't) by @the-lonelybarricade - A short chronical of canon moments Rhys grappled with his 'baser side' and the one time Feyre coaxed it out to play. (👻 - beast!Rhys only wants one thing and it's to please his wife)
Bejeweled by @thesistersarcheron - Every court has their own Great Rite with unique, ancient traditions. The Night Court’s priestesses have played coy with Rhysand since he inherited the throne last year about what imbuing the land with his power really means; all they tell him is that he is meant to spend the night in the Night Court’s mines dripping in ceremonial jewels while everyone else gets to attend the orgy without him. (👻 - to shreds you say?)
As the World Falls Down by @thesistersarcheron - Sometimes in the dead of night on the way to the kitchen for a glass of water, I see an extra door in the hallway, black and imposing. (👻👻👻 - what happens when Feyre never slays the wolf and faerie has to come to her instead 👀)

Be a Doll, Darling by @the-lonelybarricade - using an old spellbook from a novelty shop, Feyre acid
entally brings her sex doll to life (👻👻👻 - laughs in scared and horny)
Bite Me, Prick by @elentiyawhitethorn - modern vampire au with Feysand, where her blood is not only tasty but an aphrodisiac (👻 - sexy, laid back vampire just wants a little nibble? Go ahead, sir)
Violent Delights by @the-lonelybarricade - There were three rules that must be followed in the home of Viscount Rhysand. One: All staff were forbidden from looking at his lordship directly. Two: All windows were to stay nailed shut, and all drapes pulled over them lest any light creep through the boards. And the third and strangest rule of the castle: All female staff were forbidden from leaving their quarters during their monthly bleed. (👻👻 - he-he's going to put his mouth WHERE!?)
Invisible Thread by @a-courtofdreams - Prythian is transformed into a modern-day city where Feyre is a witch out of touch with her powers and Rhys is a powerful vampire. When Rhys recognizes Feyre as his mate, the timing is not ideal but he has to know her. Feyre is equally drawn to the handsome vampire who makes her feel alive and encourages her to find herself and her magic again. As outside forces threaten to tear them apart, will their fated bond be enough to keep the evil at bay? (👻 - urban fantasy / discovery of witches meets charmed)
The Creature of Nótt by @msfeyredarling - Raven-black locks, golden brown skin and eyes of the deepest blue made up the beautiful man, the most beautiful she had ever seen. Only he wasn’t a man. He was the creature her village was so frightened of. (👻👻👻 - if big, scary monster, why pretty shaped?)
Pretty Little Witch by @abraxos-and-ataraxia - Feyre wants to know what creature her sister is summoning in the basement. Little does she know, the Demon Prince is curious, as well. (👻👻👻👻👻 - if the big mean prince of hell likes to play rough with his toys, I volunteer next)
The Music of the Night by @the-lonelybarricade - It's Feyre's first year as an elligible maiden for the village reaping. In order to escape the chance of being chosen, Feyre rushes into a marriage with Lord Tamlin. She is terrified on her wedding night, but foruntately she is spared from consumating her marriage when she is pulled into a strange, erotic dream with an enchanting creature. (👻👻 - night unfurled its splendor alright)
I'd Rather Be a Real Nightmare by @separatist-apologist - A warning scream in the night sends Feyre running through the forest, straight into the waiting arms of the God Of Nightmares. (👻👻👻👻👻 - throne sex with an extra dash of dark!Rhys)
No Slow Dancing in the Dark by @iambutmortal - Feyre will do anything to get out of the Spring Court, including make a deal with the God of Night. Rhys is willing to do whatever it takes to make her his. (👻👻👻👻 - hi hello is this the Night Court? I'd also like to take that deal please)
Tell Me I'm a Wreck by @separatist-apologist - Feyre Archeron needs to travel the woods between her village and her grandmothers house to find out what happened to her missing eldest sister. Rhysand is waiting between the trees. (👻👻👻👻 - this one had my heart going pitter patter)
Meet Me In the Woods by @labellefleur-sauvage - Returning to the ancient forests surrounding his ancestral home in the Scottish highlands, Rhys quickly discovers how the hunter becomes the hunted when a bloodthirsty Scottish faerie turns her ravenous sights on him. (👻👻👻👻 - even Rhys agress that monster!Feyre just hits different)
High Tide Came And Brought You In by @separatist-apologist -Desperate to escape her impending marriage, Feyre throws herself from a cliffside. Anything is better than what's waiting for her. Even the monster hiding in the waves. (👻👻👻 - Maybe the deep dark ocean isn't so scary afterall?)
Bound For More by starry_soul - Feyre knew the moment she was chosen as that year’s offering that her life was over. What she did not expect was to feel such pleasure before death. (👻👻👻- sign me up for the next vilalge sacrifice please)
To Tango With the Devil by @iambutmortal - For two years, Feyre’s been obsessed with the demon statue in the church. It haunts her dreams, even on the eve of her wedding. To bad the statue’s just as obsessed with her. (👻👻 - peak "that's my wife" at first sight energy)

The thing that gets me about the 'Remember her message' crap is like... Remember what? Her message wasn't some inspiring speech or moral lesson, it was essentially saying "Shit is going down, here are people who know more. And Ironwood is a bitch ass mother fucker.". What, does Winter think people will forget the important details?
Though Ruby's message is definitely generic, I personally have no problem with that. Generic can be great when it plays to a genre's strengths and the audience's expectations. Ruby does spend the second half of her broadcast asking the people not to panic, telling them to pull together, and reassuring them that they can in fact beat Salem. On paper, it sounds like a pretty solid speech that, yes, is worth keeping in mind after she's supposedly perished and things have well and truly gone to shit. Hell, part of what Ruby asks is that the people of Remnant keep moving forward even if Atlas falls, with the implication being that she may die too, but they should heed her warnings even if she's no longer around to remind them. The scraped epilogue shows the people doing just that.
The problem—multiple problems, really—is that this message within RWBY's specific context is nonsensical. I spoke a lot about this back when Volume 8 first aired, but it's worth repeating in light of the epilogue. Ruby's speech is heard as one unbroken transmission, yet Ruby skips over a ton of crucial information, implying that the people of Remnant have heard it off screen... yet, given how this is written (both that unbroken stream + they have literally one shot at this message with Penny buying them time), that's simply not possible. Ruby admits that the Maidens and the Relics sound insane, but she never told the people what those are. She reassures them that Salem can be beaten even though she can't be destroyed, but she never tells them that she's immortal in the first place (which is HUGE given what went down with both Ozpin and Ironwood). Ruby announces that Ironwood can't be trusted, but provides no reason or evidence for why that's the case. She further tries to provide reassurance by saying that they must be a threat to Salem because if not, she would have attacked long before now, but that's another huge, baseless assumption. (Plus, the viewer knows there's no in-world weakness that Salem is hindered by, one that Ruby is strategically alluding to. She just didn't attack earlier because the show didn't start earlier. Salem, as a character, waited around for Ruby to grow up enough to fight her.) Perhaps most damning from our perspective, Ruby talks big about stopping Salem without once even considering how they might beat her, let alone coming up with a viable plan to present to the people.
In short: she's pulling an Ozpin. Ruby knows that saying, "Our enemy is immortal and we have no idea how to stop her, but you should keep fighting anyway!" is a very bad gamble, so she doesn't lie exactly, but implies that she has a much better handle on the situation than she actually does. She is, on a literal level, doing precisely what Ozpin did to the girls except on a world-wide scale. And unlike Ozpin who at least offered information that made sense to people based on what they already knew, Ruby references things on the fly that are either a) meaningless to the people or b) entirely unpersuasive. This is a kid who hacked every screen in the world to say, "Hi, it's me, someone you've never seen before. An entire kingdom is about to fall to grimm, but it's okay! See, everything bad that's ever happened in history, from those grimm to the White Fang to random crime around Vale, is all orchestrated by a woman named Salem. We can't beat her, but we can totally beat her. How? I won't say. Also, a world leader is evil now. How do I know this? I won't say. Also also, "maidens and Relics." Don't worry if those words don't mean anything to you. So see? If you just band together everything will be fine!"
And then the world... did that, with the side benefit of not panicking and drawing grimm like everyone agreed would happen back in Volume 7. But that's a writing decision entirely separated from the reality RWBY's built. From the perspective of Remnant, Ruby's speech is unsubstantiated nonsense. At best it comes across as a conspiracy-theory obsessed child playing a prank. At worst it's panic-inducing without providing a shred of explanation or reassurance. If there was ANY consistency in the show the girls would arrive in Vacuo to find the majority of the people going about their daily lives because... wait. You actually thought we were going to listen to you when you spouted all that ridiculous stuff? Meanwhile, a handful of believers are now ready to fight ... because they think Salem can, in fact, be beaten. She's an enemy, yeah? We're brave! Let's go kill her! All Ruby would have done is put those people in the same position they were pre-Volume 6, with information they probably should have been able to use to figure things out (how is Salem still around after centuries if she's not immortal?) but more likely they just jumped to the easiest, most reassuring conclusion. You said there was an evil lady controlling everything, but that we could beat her. So... let's go beat her? And Ruby is standing there, sweating, because oh yeah, she has no idea how to beat Salem. She is ACTUALLY speed-running Ozpin's choices except she pulled the entire WORLD in instead of just a few, choice hunters already committed to half the fight and instead of damning her for that like Ozpin was the show goes, "Yes. This was a lovely message worthy of murals in her honor."
So Ruby did have something akin to an inspiring message alongside the "Shit is going down, others know more, Ironwood is an asshole" spiel. But it's only an inspiring message when removed from eight Volumes worth of world-building and arcs that show precisely what happens when people do this. In that light, Ruby's message isn't inspiring at all, it's just another lie undermined by her giving no explanations and no proof that she can back up her reassuring claims.

Idk why but for some reason the words I associate with Grimm and fpk are partner, lover, or boyfriend. Not husband.
I know you had the meme redraw of Grimm and FPK getting married with the officiant being Elderbug with the caption being "We have gay s3x" or something like that.
But anyway, are they legally married or did they just have a ceremony? How would it have gone? Would their wedding be based on weddings in Hallownest or something that Grimm saw in another kingdom?
I'm not sure how a legal marriage would work in Hallownest, especially since at this point it's just a bunch of independent settlements, as opposed to an united kingdom/country, but yes, they married each other shortly before they decided to try for a child, so about 2 years after they reunited.
Not much really changed for them when it comes to formality, mostly because I don't think that's really a thing in Hallownest, or at least in Dirtmouth (they don't even have a last name to share, among other things). I think they really just wanted to take that next step in their relationship, and "husbands" shows a much closer bond than "partners" or "lovers" (this one they never used, Grimm was especially against calling FPK his lover; it reminded him of his many casual experiences in the past, and he didn't want to ever paint FPK as just another lover of his).
As to what the wedding would look like... I think wedding traditions vary greatly between the different communities in Hallownest. Dirtmouth's traditions are nearly non existent since most of its population died or left Hallownest, and there are very few records on what a traditional wedding in that community looked like. The wedding between WL and FPK was completely different, soul and the Kingsoul fragments being a key part of it, and there was a huge event accompanying it, with many important guests from different kingdoms being present.
Despite his love for spectacles, Grimm wanted their wedding to be small in scale, more intimate, an idea FPK very much shared. One tradition I really like from Celtic rituals is handfasting, the act of tying the hands of the two partners with some kind of cloth or ribbon. So that would be a part of their wedding, the main element of the ceremony, very small in scale but one that carries much symbolism for them, signifying their eternal bond. I do love the idea of Grimm witnessing this tradition in another land and wanting to share it with FPK. The cloth used to tie their hands during the ceremony is basically their equivalent of wedding rings, and they keep it safely displayed in their house.
After the main ceremony, they would hold a small feast for the Dirtmouth community in the main Troupe building (by that point, the Troupe built more permanent homes and structures, as opposed to the tents they lived in prior). Or perhaps there is some kind of longhouse-esque building in the town where the residents gather for such events? I do quite like that idea, especially since my vision of the Hallownest region takes a lot of inspiration from Nordic/Germanic elements (playing Skyrim solidified that vision even further hahaha).
Of course, the actual feast would be significantly smaller in scale than the event held at WL and FPK's wedding, the Dirtmouth community was still very small at that point, so it was really just FPK, Grimm, their family and their friends, though they did also invite any newcomers - they value the community greatly, so they wanted their wedding to also bring the Dirtmouth folk together.
Then everything returned to normal, basically. Like I said, there were no formalities involved, they already lived together, and again, they had no last name to share. They did receive a letter from Lurien congratulating them on the marriage, with a small wedding present attached. I mentioned if before, but he's the only remaining Dreamer who is now the head of the City of Tears; he's on good terms with FPK and Grimm, the latter of whom he has a certain deal with, regarding Grimm's vampiric activities and the bandits plaguing the city. So he would eventually hear that the two got married, and would send them his best wishes.
And no, WL was not present at the wedding. FPK tries to stay on friendly terms with her but it's very clear that they're not close. She congratulated them but did not attend the ceremony herself, she was too occupied with her mansion court and its business, and besides, it would be incredibly awkward for everyone involved (and with FPK's history with her and their unhappy marriage, not to mention his fear of upsetting her that still resides in his mind years after they separated, chances are that her presence would ruin the special day for him). She was perfectly fine with it, though. By that point she had already moved on and had her own life, so she wasn't upset about the wedding or not attending it.
---
Side tangent, but I'm definitely steering FPK's dynamic with WL to be a bit more... distant, I suppose. Exploring what their marriage was like in the AU made me realize that them being close friends now wouldn't really make sense, if anything, it would be a bit unfair to FPK. That's not to say they dislike one another, far from it, but FPK definitely puts a lot more effort than he really needs to with maintaining the good terms. He'd be well within his right to just forget about her after how poorly she treated him while they were married, but I think him being slightly naive and too kind for his own good is a very interesting aspect of his personality. And while WL still has many regrets about her treatment of him, I think making their dynamic more distant would be better for both of them. No spiteful exes deal, no cliche hatred between WL and FPK's new partner, I think them keeping a distance is more reasonable and mature. So basically, instead of seeing them as friends, WL treats FPK and Grimm as special guests whenever they visit her mansion. Formal and a tad awkward, very fitting for her personality, but still showing good will on her side.

obey me brothers and picking up a new hobby
a/n: I can't sleep so have this
starting a new hobby because you're bored with the regular day to day, or someone's feeling inspired? who knows why anyone does anything.
Tumblr media
lucifer
lucifer would want to do something classy. maybe he'd offer to learn an instrument with you, or teach you something he knows.
i think he'd enjoy some kinda craft where he can use his hands. maybe throwing clay, sitting there shaping it in his hands gives him a good sense of control and that's important to him. downside is he'd throw out anything with the slightest imperfection.
mammon
whatever you want to do, mammon is with you every step of the way. and vice versa which makes picking out a new hobby for the two of you just plain exhausting.
i bet you could get this guy into hardcore couponing. he'd be the type to whip out that huge binder. everything is color coded by store/purpose/intended recipient/etc.
he'd be really interested in antiquing. who knows what kind of treasure he might find, that would undoubtedly make him a quick grimm on the auction sites.
levi
pls just let him go back to his room and play games
but not really. he's willing to go out, he just doesn't want to do anything physical.
i think he'd like to take up something arty. he already does his own sewing and designing so maybe some kind of drawing class where he can design his own manga. you could easily sweet talk simeon into letting him do a special edition graphic novel of tsl.
satan
idk I just get birdwatching vibes from him. he'd love tracking migration patterns and learning about native species. Satan would also learn birdcalls so he and belphie can signal each other for anti-lucifer club shenanigans. probably tries to set dangerous birds lose in the house because it makes lucifer a little crazy. he quickly stops when someone mentions that mc might get hurt.
asmo
asmo would be all over designing and building miniatures. you want a tiny house, decorated in the best styles? they've got you. a tiny little hol, built to scale, where asmo pretends their brothers care about their fashion and design advice. there's little minis of the entire family and when someone misbehaves (mammon), their little figure gets put in time out in the crypt.
beel
beekeeping. it's a pretty chill hobby, and he's generally a pretty chill person. he's a bit in tune, thanks to his demon form being insectoid. it's also good for him in the way of the bees making him honey. they love him so much, he gets so much honey. everything is sticky. send help.
belphie
photography. another pretty relaxed hobby. his biggest problem is getting sleepy if he has to wait for a while to get his shot. he would prefer to stick to nature sources because less people to deal with. his favorite shot is one he got of mc and beel silhouetted against a setting sun on their way home from RAD. he'd also learn how to develop his own film.

Dragon IK AU:
Im glad that you like the idea, it has been brewing in my head for a good while now. About Bailu, you dont need to know about her, what i meant is Bailu’s design is what i imagine Ik would look like with visible dragon traits. Just search up Bailu in google and see her design, it would somewhat fit Ik.
Now i originally imagine her to be a small bby dragon when she goes full dragon but i like the idea of Ik being able to be a BIG and little dragon because it would hilarious. Like the small human you’re trying to kill is suddenly a huge ass dragon, easily beat you up, then after beating you up, become a small little baby dragon. (Also do you know that small dragon zhongli merch plush? Yeah that’s small bby dragon Ik)
Now that you mention her powers that comes with being a chinese dragon, i feel like Levi would be the most helpful on trying to understand it. I dont think i mention this but Ik doesnt know she was half human and half dragon at all. All her life, she thought she was fully human, now she is actually a dragon with all these cool powers. But not everything comes easy the first time. Ik might have some crisis with the revelation she is a dragon (maybe??? I mean being an actual dragon that your home country worship isnt a small revelation). With Levi’s connection to the sea and such and also having Lotan, Levi can help Ik control her powers and Lotan can help with her getting used to her new form since hydra and chinese dragon are somewhat similar. (Also about the wish granting magic idea, maybe it’s best that Ik doesnt have that because Mammon would definitely use it to get more grimm or pay off his debts)
And about the god thing, wouldnt that make Ik a demigod? She’s half human from Zhao and half dragon from her mom, that’s essentially what a demigod is right? But tbh, i just see it like a half adeptus thing with Ganyu and Yanfei. Also the celestial realm… idk how they would feel with a demigod(?) being in devildom but what i do know it wouldnt be a pleasant one
What do you personally think the brothers feel about Ik being a dragon?
- 🐧 Anon
ah, gotcha! i'm always a sucker for this specific kind of dragon horn, so definitely a fan of this design (though not sure how to feel about the fact that bailu apparently isn't a child and just looks like that)
i think levi would definitely be ik's main guide for figuring out her new dragon abilities! they'd go out on a trip to the sea and just spend ages playing around with the water (though ik's control isn't great, so sometimes she'll accidentally start summoning a tsunami and levi has to jump in to get things under control)
i definitely wouldn't use the god aspect of chinese in a literal sense, but the celestial realm hearing of a 'functional demigod' appearing in the devildom would probably be cause for alarm. unlike the angel hybrid au though, they've got no claim to her custody despite the divine heritage, so i guess they'd just have to stew in it until they think of something...
as for the brothers, levi of course is super hyped!! mammon is similarly so ("hell yeah we can go flying together now!!!"), while satan is reassessing his animal tier list because ik's little dragon form might actually be even cuter than a cat. asmo's delighted by both big and little forms, because the former is magnificent and he loves getting to help shine her scales, and of course the latter is adorable
belphie probably tries to get ik to conjure up storms so that they'll cancel school. he basically uses her little dragon form as a hot water bottle, and meanwhile beel likes getting flown about when she's in Big form because he's normally the one doing the carrying, so this is a breath of fresh air!
lucifer's probably the only one who even considers the celestial realm's thoughts on this, but ultimately he's like "who gives a shit what they think" and starts a little diary to keep track of ik's growth (which he's very proud of)

i'm..thinking. in a sense, knowing what bringing the relics together in the current state of remnant likely means, it adds up that salem would want to have the world destroyed to break her curse—"So long as this world turns, you shall walk it's face" and all that.
but is that really how salem operates? for one, she knows the gods as fickle beings, making a decision and changing it just moments later if they so please, especially if they feel 'cheated', so would salem actually trust them to hold their end of the bargain because she used a loop hole?
no. i don't think she would. but i do think salem is the type of person who is willing to risk the destruction of the world for a chance to defeat the gods.
after all, salem did that once—though in smaller scale, with just three kingdoms in tow—and was willing to do it again had the god of darkness not already wiped humanity away. and this is how she managed to convince them:
Jinn: With the kings and queens in awe, she pulled them deeper into her scheme. She painted them pictures of a time when they would no longer have to watch their loved ones wither and die, when they could claim the powers of their creators for themselves, and in turn, perfect their own design.
this also goes back to "if summer has not been turned into a hound-like grimm but still works for salem, how did salem manage to recruit her?" because, based on what little we know of summer, she was willing to take huge risks as well. i mean, going on a suicide mission against someone who she knows hunts her kind down to kill them, possibly knowing she's immortal, just for a chance to save the world?
yeah, "let's defeat the gods using the relics, might go 'end of the world' poorly, but if the gods are not dealt with that's always a possibility, so..." doesn't sound too crazy, at that point. if summer is anything like ruby—even going beyond—then she'd probably have enough optimism to believe this plan would work.
but then i'm also thinking about raven and how much she knows. raven never says "salem can't be killed", it's always "can't be stopped", so it doesn't seem like salem's immortality would have played that big of part in raven losing hope? on top of that, according to raven, salem "can't be reasoned with", so if raven has met salem (even before summer did), would salem have tried to recruit her, telling her what her real plan is? it would not have worked, obviously, because raven does not have the optimism summer (or salem, in this regard, i guess) has, and her main goal is survival—a plan that goes either great or everyone dies, is not the type of plan raven would want to be part of.
there's also raven's belief that for lionheart to have betrayed ozpin, salem must have something on him, so what does salem have on raven? it would be beneficial for salem, if raven knows her real plan, to throw in some vague(?) threats to make sure raven keeps her mouth shut and/or no longer works for ozpin, and thus, actively against her, but what would those threats be? against raven's family? they were all part of the war anyway, with the exception of yang who might have not been born yet, either... but if that's the case, then yang might have just—completely accidentally—dodged a bullet by mentioning summer as her mom, because salem sure wasn't making the connection between yang and raven.
anyway. these three will be the death of me with all the secrets they're holding.

What Happens To Old War Gear? (Final Effect)
When military-grade weaponry becomes obsolete or is replaced, it is not uncommon to sell it to civilians at a reduced price for defensive purposes. For example, it is not at all unusual to see old war mechs on the frontier being piloted by minors and settlers in outlying colonies. You can even find war mechs whose piloting systems have been replaced by simple AI.
Due to the ever-present threat of the Grimm, and the myriad natural dangers that can be found on planets and in star systems all over the galaxy, civilians need ways to defend themselves. Old war gear offers an affordable solution to that problem since even centuries-old weaponry is still highly effective against most threats.
For example, there are mining colonies where the same war mechs have served as guardians for almost a thousand years. It turns out that being huge, heavily armoured, and armed to the absolute teeth prevents them from becoming completely obsolete despite their age.
One of the oldest such war mechs, an ancient LR-21 model has been in service for roughly fifteen hundred years. Originally designed to offer mobile heavy fire support on the field, the LR-21 is operated by a simple AI. Upgrades to its software and its hardware over the years mean that it has greatly changed from its original load out, but it has also remained an imposing and deadly presence on the battlefield.
For civilians, old war gear is an affordable way of acquiring equipment that is battle tested and ready for use. It's true that there are ample standard options for weaponry and war gear for civilians, but the law places strict limits on what can and cannot be purchased freely. These laws are relaxed somewhat for old war gear although the process of acquiring it does mean more background checks and the like.
You can also find old war gear in the service of the various smaller nations that exist in the galaxy. For instance, many older starships are sold to independent star systems or small factions rather than simply destroyed. These ships are, of course, inferior to those in service with the Empire or the Alliance, but they are nevertheless usually greatly superior to what these other factions could create on their own. They are also cheaper to buy than to construct.
As an aside, this makes coordination with these independent factions easier when Grimm incursions occur since the Empire and Alliance are also familiar with their vessels. This has led to some amusing incidents like two thousand year old ships still seeing combat after a bit of upgrading.
Due to the constant warfare against the Grimm, equipment is generally built to last and to be used as many times as possible before being replaced. At which point, it can then be used as reserve weaponry. Although disposable weapons certainly do exist, the sheer scale of the conflict against the Grimm means that efficient use of resources is key.
The regular sales of old war gear held by the Empire are often likened to yard sales with the Dia-Farron presiding and hawking their wares.
"Hey, you there! You look like you could use an old frigate! It might be three generations old, but it can still dump a thousand missiles on target in less than a minute! I'll even throw in a couple of old war mechs. Anything manages to get past the frigate and make landfall, the war mechs will turn it to ash! Don't think too hard about it. I've got plenty of other people interested, and I've only got four more of these frigates left!"

8 and 9 to all, 13 to Summer
8. which scar was caused by the worst wound?
SALEM.
The only scars she has are the ones she had before she became immortal—most of them are on her forearms, up near her elbows, little flecks of remembered scar tissue and faint lines of discoloration, self-inflicted from clawing at herself and then picking the wounds open over and over in the tower.
But she also has some gnarly ones from where the God of Light bit her. They didn’t heal, exactly; Darkness glued her back together before he and his brother drowned her in the fountain of life. So they don’t quite look like scars: they’re necrotic-black and scabrous. The biggest runs from where her left shoulder joins her neck, down to her mid-back on the right side. She’s got a discontiguous slash of punctures and gouges following the same line down her front, neck to waist. (In her V7-8 fit those would have been visible.)
OZMA.
They don’t exactly get to keep their scars—of which they’ve had quite a lot over the years—but there is an injury that was bad enough to persist across lifetimes, and that’s what Salem did to their leg the night Lux Aeterna fell. When the fortress came down on their heads, Ozma shielded themself and Salem… didn’t, so she got smushed like a bug right in front of them and that kind of snapped Oz out of the battle haze for a minute.
So they pulled her out of the rubble, panicking, and as she started to knit herself back together she grabbed their thigh and like, railgunned her own broken bones through their leg. And then they incinerated her because what the FUCK, and then she reconstituted and burnt them alive, and every single one of Ozma’s hosts since then has developed a psychosomatic limp because it still hurts.
SUMMER.
This. It’s faded, but Summer’s hands and forearms to this day have splotches of noticeable discoloration, darker and ashier than her natural skin color. She wears long sleeves to cover it up, doesn’t like when people stare. The injury also did some permanent damage to her nerve endings; she has fluctuating but constant pins and needles, and her gloves have a reinforced aura-reactive lining to help her grip. Gloves off, she can’t hold anything much heavier than a half-gallon of milk without either cradling it in her arms or bracing it on a hip—her fingers just aren’t very strong anymore.
OSCAR.
Besides the type of scars you’d expect a kid who grew up on a farm to have, Oscar didn’t have any truly serious ones before Atlas. He does have one on his right forearm that looks nasty—but it’s from getting kicked by a rabbit, not exactly dire.
Nowadays, though? His worst injury and worst scar are both courtesy of Salem. When she blasted him after he lied about the lamp being out of questions, she caught him with his aura down. That burn eventually heals into a huge, reddish starburst of a scar.
9. do they have any funny story related to one or more of their scars?
SALEM.
On the extremely rare occasion that someone both sees the scars and dares to actually ask, she tells the truth, which is “god tried to kill me.” Nobody ever quite believes her.
She thinks it’s funny.
OZMA.
Generally, Ozma does not like to talk about whatever scars they acquire, irrespective of how they got them.
SUMMER.
With most of her scars being from her huntressing days, the true stories are mostly variations on “so there was this grimm—” Whether the story is funny or not depends; Summer used to frame them as funny stories as a matter of course, often with a self-deprecating tone, but she doesn’t do that anymore.
OSCAR.
The Rabbit Incident. He gets a kick out of it because he can instantly tell how country a person is based on where they fall on the “yeah that tracks, rabbits amiright?” to “what do you mean a little bunny did THAT” sliding scale.
13. did they ever come up with some absurd story about their scars?
When she doesn’t feel like getting into it—with nosy strangers mainly—she does like to make up stupid, outlandish stories about how she got them. For her hands, her go to is “lost a fight with the sun,” and she’ll riff hard on ‘The Man Who Stared at the Sun’ if challenged on that.

sends you grimm beloved
*throws my entire heart out* I just feel so much about the clown with the tearaway face okay? okay okay okay
Sexuality Headcanon: *points* This is healthy bisexual representation Gender Headcanon: Male A ship I have with said character: I am totally normal about Grollow I am totally normal about Grollow I am totally normal about -- A BROTP I have with said character: If referring to Grimm proper and not, like, grown-up Grimmchild, I really enjoy the potential of a macabre "we are both serious as shit with a quirky side" friendship with Hornet. She giggles during her fight. They have more in common than she'd like to admit, I think. If grown-up Grimmchild, platonic besties with Ghost or I'll die. A NOTP I have with said character: I have one tag blocked on Tumblr and it's Pale Nightmare. My brain screams "he would absolutely fucking not." A random headcanon: I unironically am on team "Grimm is a butterfly, not a moth." I have said this before in at least [1] fic, but I'm going to continue to scream it because while yes, Cinnabar moths exist, I think vampire butterflies bear a much more strong resemblance to his look. This is coupled with butterflies typically symbolizing rebirth, which is such a huge aspect of his character. He does not have the modified scales that resemble 'fur' that moths have! But mostly I subscribe to "he might have started out as one thing but he's a hodgepodge of things that scare others now." I keep making him a butterfly in half my fics. No one can stop me. General Opinion over said character: I love him so much that I want to throw him into walls and break him just so that I can put him back together again. Sparkle for me, pretty.

Miniature Grimm books from Etsy
Yay! My order from Little Things of Interest Etsy shop just came in the mail. I’m not a doll collector but I’m a huge fan of the show so as soon as I saw these miniature Grimm books, I knew I had to get them. For scale, I’ve propped them near my Grogu Funko pop and my Grimm key necklace 😁❤️

Body worship for salem

scale: fuck no, gross, not for them, eh, no opinion, kinda, hot, fuck yes, p l e a s e do this
Narrowing her hues in utter annoyance, Salem sends another Grimm to maul that anon alive.
Still, albeit everything else but the relics seemed so insignificant, being worshiped like a Goddess sounded exquisite. And, it would have boosted her huge ego even more, yes.
«I feel kind, and I’ll confess: I want them to beg. To hear their whiny voices to see, or merely touch my body.»

not to be dramatic but oobleck told ruby in vol 2 that the big herd of elephant Grimm only got to be that size because they learned that attacking humans would only bring more humans.
So I haven't been able to stop think about how enormous the Grimm have gotten in the show, in vol 7 a herd of those same Grimm charged at Mantle.
The bigger Grimm are attacking.
It's a good indicator that humanity is breaking apart much faster and much more severely that ever before.

It seems that they had this Ever After idea since volume 2. So if I had to garner a realistic, not super interesting guess it was simply a case of them holding onto an idea they liked to a point of stubbornness and refusing to see the themes of their story no longer fit for this whimsical, fun nonsense. Unlike the Apathy, another long standing idea which actually fit better when things got more dire, Ever After doesn’t have a place anymore when things have changed this much.
Hard agree with that assessment. I feel like it's pretty well known by now that I don't engage with much behind-the-scenes stuff, so that's actually really interesting to hear. With the huge disclaimer that I'm always cautious when authors claim that something was planned from an early date (especially in collaborative projects, especially when the primary author is no longer with us, super especially when the writers have a history of making such claims that simply don't add up), that makes for a... very surprising conception of RWBY as a whole.
I mean, the Apathy makes perfect sense to me. It's just a grimm concept, one that could fit into any fight throughout the series. It's entirely disconnected from the plot except for what's already established at the very start: this is a world populated by a variety of vicious monsters, drawn by negative emotion. So why not a type that causes such emotions too? That's exactly the kind of Rule of Cool antagonist concept that could be conceived of at the start, stuck in a back drawer, and only pulled out years later when, as you say, it fits the tone very well.
The Ever After though? I have a much harder time picturing them conceptualizing that in Volume 2. It simply depends on so much that we know was thought up later, or at least significantly changed: the concept of magic vs. semblances, the Gods, Ozpin's backstory, Oscar's existence, the popularity of RWBY and its connection with other media worlds (Justice League, Chibi, the tie-in novels, etc.) thereby making a trip to an alternate reality feel less out of place in this franchise. Volume 2 was school shenanigans with only the slightest, vaguest, underdeveloped hint at a larger world. Looking at the Ever After we have now, that character work, nearly everything we're seeing hinges on something I truly doubt the writers knew about that far ahead. There was no bumblebee. I truly doubt Penny's resurrection - and thus Ruby's response to her death - was planned. Weiss hadn't undergone any of the character development that would lead to this... odd role as comic relief. Yang was about to start a trajectory towards improving her anger issues and impulsive fighting style, not wallowing in it. Hell, this entire world is built around a story that was only mentioned a Volume ago and there the summary was so vague the writers could have come up with the details at any point. If Ever After was "planned" it was only in the loosest sense possible - "What if our characters based on fairy tales went to a fairy tale?" - but even then, I have a very hard time picturing that conversation back when RWBY was a tiny passion project focusing on the fun fights of a group of students. We had a Big Bad via Salem's voice over, but beyond that there's nothing to imply they'd planned to take us through such an epic journey - with "epic" used to express scale, not quality. Certainly not something as massive as alternate realities the girls have to come back from via the magic of Gods.
I mean sure, they could have planned it from Volume 2. I'm not in the writers' room. I don't know their process, or how much of the tiny references embedded in Salem's speech actually had developed lore behind them. But I think modern fandom - the RWBY fandom in particular - needs to remember the term "retcon" and how common it is for writers to try and pull off. Especially when they have fans so willing to believe their every word. RWBY is absolutely OVERFLOWING with evidence for things that were never thought about ahead of time, despite the writers' claims to the contrary, so whenever the writers give another, "Oh yeah, of course we've planned this for years!" I'm side-eyeing it and the fans scrambling to make sense of prior writing through that lens. Occam's razor and all that.
And if it was an idea they had since Volume 2, uh... that's worse? That's so much worse. You had six years to set up this journey and the best you could do was a few lines from Oscar - a character who didn't exist back then - about a random story the audience has otherwise never heard of? The way the characters get to the Ever After is through a plan they came up with off screen, mere minutes after they learned the rules of the Staff? We knew about this trip ahead of time and that's really the best way to pull it off? That's what six years of planning time amounts to?
That makes the writers look way, way worse to my mind because it's demonstrating a severe lack of skill in following through on these ideas. They'd honestly come across better if they just went, "Yeah, we're making this up as we go, so things are bound to get pretty messy in places. Sorry." A "Oh yeah, it's planned ;)" just generates the response of, "Okay. So why in the world isn't it better?"

Dire Situation
I don’t think I ever properly made a post about this but like…team RWBY and friends really messed up. The show and fandom talked about the moral dilemma Vol7-8 had and why people chose their side but taking a step away from that, let’s look at was avoided.
Saved countless lives
Kept winter maiden powers on the good side
To be fair, those are huge achievements. I’m not counting the broadcast because it’s really a matter of opinion if letting the world know like they did was a positive or negative. Also defacing Ironwood like they did in the broadcast didn’t help their situation and might cause worldwide unrest in their leadership; since they don’t know the facts. As far as negatives that they cared about:
Friends are lost/dead
They lost the relic and the question with it.
Now the reason I’m bringing this up and saying our protagonists messed up is quite simple. They made a plan where they’d lose Atlas and Mantle, and they were okay with that. We had no dialogue from anyone disagreeing about Atlas itself falling.
Saving all the people was great morally and I’m not saying I didn’t want them to not try and save a lot of lives, but RT has made Atlas from world building standpoint the major cog in how Remnant functions in most capacities.
The source of the world’s major Dust supplier is now gone. Dust as people know how to use it will gradually become finite or at very least production will be immensely slow which isn’t good
The land of leading science and cutting edge technology is gone so those fronts are also coming to a standstill.
Amity wasn’t fully completed and also drifted off course, so is quick global communication now entirely dead? Yeah they have short range towers but all of the CCT network was developed by Atlas, the central hub.
The world has no idea about Atlas’s evacuation and now there’s no reliable way to tell the world quickly enough. Many will only know an entire kingdom has now completely vanished off the map and that’s going to cause sheer panic.
The world is more crippled than it’s ever been and our protagonists aren’t even united to handle things on a kingdom scale, let alone the global problems. Meanwhile Salem has lost two people and the world still doesn’t have a good idea of who or what she can do. The world essentially heard “the devil is real but we can stop it!” Then a country disappeared. So yeah, I don’t think their plan was that great big picture wise. You can argue they saved people who knew about Atlas tech but that’s iffy at best. We saw a lot of military die, and any living people with expertise still won’t have all the tools and things they need to keep the world as they know it sustainable indefinitely.
Now I’m not and wasn’t ever expecting them to come up with a full proof plan that solves everything or for them to even think about all the different variables because they were on a time limit. Grimm invasion, bomb, Penny’s virus, Hound, etc. They had a lot on their plate. However, what I really want to see desperately is at least two people think about everything they’ve done since making it to Atlas, think about the state of the world after their plan, and then go, “Man….we didn’t handle that well at all.”
I don’t think that’s too much too much to ask for. Ren was getting to that point a little bit but this is much more grand. Believing in your actions is fine and all but there should be no way everyone is still on the “we’ve been handling this” mindset. “Maybe we were wrong” or “Things went absolutely wrong” should exist in some minds and I’m really hoping at lest one of those minds is Weiss’s. She didn’t like her home life but she never hated the country. Her homeland is gone. That should mean something. In many ways she’s lost the most through this experience, be it her own actions or her friend’s actions that she had no say in half the time.
Really hope RWBY sheds a light on this well. I don’t need Lord of the Flies level of breakdown amongst the group of friends but there’s a lot of reasons they should be upset about how Vol7-8 went and I hope they call each other out a little bit and not just go “We tried and things went wrong.”

The explosion scene is SO GOOD. The way the explosion plays out is so visually fantastic and framed really well, and the music does a good job at setting the tone.
The way Ironwood sees it first- he thinks it’s his own success but WE know it’s the result of hard work on our heroes’ behalf aimed RIGHT at Salem. He’s got the best view of it but somehow the most skewed view at the same time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way it hits Winter and the Ace Ops next. The way their bodies are framed in the light as it goes off. The way it literally swallows them up, with Marrow, Harriet and Winter- the people closest to it- getting YEETED back by the force of it
Tumblr media
Weiss, Klein and Nora see it next, small, dark room suddenly bright as day, teapot clattering on the ground as Weiss walks into the room. These guys have no idea what just happened, but know it’s huge.
Tumblr media
Grimm miles away in Mantle getting fucking vaporized
Tumblr media
And then everything getting swallowed up in light and shadow before we cut back to Monstra disintegrating over the course of MINUTES- not seconds like we’re used to seeing Grimm fade away in, further giving us a sense of scale of just how big that whale was
Tumblr media
Neo skipping through the dust, being an absolute gremlin while carrying the lamp
Tumblr media
Winter and the Ace Ops waking up one by one until we get to Marrow, who immediately runs off to look for Jaune, Oscar, Ren and Yang in the hopes of finding them just to be met with the crater of Monstra’s body
Tumblr media
All the while this sad, somber music is playing. We know Jaune, Ren and Yang made it out of Monstra, but we don’t know if any of them will be okay after this giant fucking blast. Who knows if anyone could survive that.
Whoever directed this scene definitely gets points. This was well done.

So, here’s the Thing …
Tumblr media
This was originally posted as part of an extensive thread on disabled protagonists in action-adventure media; however, since I'd been composing it in my head as a stand-alone post for several weeks, I thought I would preserve it as one.
On the topic of disabled heroes, let us not forget Benjamin J. Grimm. The Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing. The Idol of Millions.
We shouldn’t leave him out of this conversation just because he doesn’t have a “real-world” disability. Ben has been regularly and consistently portrayed as disabled since Fantastic Four #1, and, as @captainlordauditor points out, it’s integral to his identity as a hero.
Tumblr media
Ben’s very first words are his frustrations at living in a world too small for him. He’s a two or three times as broad as a normal man, and covered in an orange, rocky hide. He weighs a quarter of a ton. He needs custom-tailored clothing. He needs special furniture. He’s an accomplished pilot, but he can only continue in his chosen profession because Reed builds the controls to suit his scale and his huge, four-fingered hands.
Early on, people faint at the sight of him, at the shock of his disfigurement, until he becomes well-known and popular enough to be seen as a hero, a big cuddly teddy bear, rather than as a monster.
Ben isn’t representative of a specific disability, but in the obstacles, inconveniences, and prejudices he faces, he most definitely counts as disability representation.
