Shout-out to “Crazy Rich Asians” for giving us the year of Ke Huy Quan. If it weren’t for the success of that movie, Ke Huy Quan wouldn’t have been inspired to return to acting. So, because he was inspired by CRA, he returns to acting and:
1) wins a Golden Globe for his role in “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once”
2) joins the MCU in “Loki” season 2
3) gets a role in “American Born Chinese”
4) gets another big movie role in the Russo Bros’ next film, which also stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt
That is one hell of a butterfly effect.

Taika Waititi in Ragnarok: Makes Thor lose an eye, gets rid of his weapon and cuts his hair
Russo Brothers in Avengers: Gives Thor another eye, gives him another weapon and grows his hair out while having him gain weight and team up with the Guardians
Taika Waititi in Love and Thunder: Makes Thor lose the weight and leave the Guardians within the first twenty minutes of the film
The Russo brothers and Taika clearly have two very different visions for Thor

…Were you guys just gonna let me go my whole life without knowing that Anthony and Joe Russo, who directed “Infinity War”and “Avengers Endgame”, also directed a bunch of episodes of “Community” (and executive produced it?)?!
...Is that where they first got the hunger to be a part of a production about a group of unique and extraordinary individuals who have the extraordinary characteristics and can save the world (Abed could do it on his own, but he loves his friends)?!

Since the MCU is such a big, sprawling franchise, there’s inevitably going to be differences in how a character is handled when moving directors. For example, Whedon’s Hawkeye is this stern special forces guy who just wanted to retire while Igla’s Hawkeye is this tired, messy dad who is really caring but burnt out from years of fighting. Same character, but different dimensions due to the change in teams.
All this to say that I love how at the end of “Endgame”, it was set up that Thor and Peter Quill were frenemies, with both of them wanting to be the leader of the Guardians. But in “Thor Love and Thunder”, Taika saw the rivalry and decided that there’s some unresolved tension there.
Or, in Peter Quill’s own words, “the unspoken thing”.
