Secret Santa 2k23

It was still and quiet in the main entryway in the Manor as Caroline gazed upon the massive, decorated tree in the center of it. She would have let out a sigh, but a kiss to her cheek got her attention before she could.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at the Barn already?” She asked as Carter snaked his arms around her waist and snuggled in close. He only hummed and shrugged in response so she lovingly nudged him for an answer.
“I decided to put it off for a day because I knew you couldn’t get off duty.”
“I don’t want you to miss out on time with your mom just because I’m on call.” She began to protest, but he just squeezed tighter.
“It’s fine, this way Parker and mom can have a girl’s night, plus I get an opportunity to give you your present.” Caroline was confused at that, having distinctly remembered already exchanging gifts with him on the Solstice.
“What do you mean?”
“Yes… but also I kept seeing the way you look at this tree.”
“Oh! That’s just because I wish it were a bit more like the trees back home is all.”
“The Norns right? I know you’re used to your trees a little more ‘au natural’.” He raised her hand and planted a kiss upon it before leading her out the door into the snowy grounds outside.
“Not to say that I think it’s ugly or anything,” Caroline continued, knowing by now that Carter wouldn’t let them be out in the cold long enough to bother them. “In fact I think the whole house did an amazing job with the decorations.”
“That they did, but this,” he said gesturing dramatically to an empty clearing in the nearby forest. “Is just for you.”
She was about to ask what he was referring to when she saw it; movement. The snow on the ground stirred and shifted as a sapling broke through. Tiny and delicate it danced out from the blanket of white as it grew at an unnatural pace.
Within moments, that felt longer than they surely were, a large Fir was before her. Not native to the region, and larger than any she had seen before (or likely would again), its raw and untamed beauty put even the shiniest Christmas tree in the Manor to shame.
“Oh my god Carter,” she breathed, afraid that if her surprise was too loud then it would somehow go away. “This is gorgeous!”
“Like the ones from home?” He asked in his boyish and hopeful way. She could have smacked him because of course it was and more! But then he reached down to take a handful of snow and gently blew- scattering it towards the tree and alighting it with twinkling globes of light.
“I know we’re past Yule and the Solstice, but I wanted to give you just a bit of the magic that makes you feel at home that you give me everyday.”
And it was there, surrounded by snow, she melted into him with a kiss.

i just wanted to say that i think this universe is so extremely cool and the details and complexities of it are really neat. so thanks :)

well thank you, kind individual! in an ideal world, perhaps mr. vaughn would be open to having something like this be part of the larger kingsman canon. i think what i like best is being able to go back over the history that's already there and finding new connections or parallels i hadn't noticed before.
our house is quieter than it used to be, and a part of that is my own fault. and i'd like to come home someday. but somewhere out there, in the cosmic forest of time and space, there is a manor on a sprawling ground in kentucky. and it will be there always for us to come back to again. after all...
/slaps the 'noke verse/ this puppy can fit so many stories in it!

Agent Sentinel Update
@the-roanoke-society
Name: Walter Vaughn
Codename: Agent Sentinel
Face Claim: Brett Farve
Tumblr media
Age: 177
Birthday: June 9th, 1846
Height: 7'2"
Weight: 369 lbs
Abilities: Superhuman Strength, Superhuman healing factor, Undying
Past: Walter was born in Texas on his parent's plantation. They farmed and "owned" slaves, even though they paid them for their labor and treated them like family. He loved being on the farm and working with the workers.
Walter was the oldest of three children. His little brother Sam and his baby sister Elise. Sam was a year younger than Walter, while Elise was three years younger.
He loved his parents and siblings. Being the eldest, he had most of the hard labor chores, like chopping wood or cleaning the horse stalls. Walter didn't mind, he was built for hard labor, being very muscular and tall like his father.
Walter is very stoic yet kind, always being gentle with those smaller or younger than him. He has a solid sense of right and wrong, instilled in him by his mother. He was always labeled by his peers as a gentle giant. But if you anger him, you better be prepared for a pummeling.
When he turned 16, the Civil War was in full swing. So he decided to enlist in the Union. He fought many battles and became adept at shooting rifles. He was also a beast with a sword.
One day, near the end of the war, Walter was fighting a skirmish in Louisiana. While the battle raged, Walter saved a black man from a Confederate soldier who was beating him with a bat. The man thanked Walter and promised to return the favor. The man then ran off into the back alleys of the city.
Unfortunately, Walter was captured by Confederate troops in the area. He was then tortured for information, giving nothing. His captors became angry. Deciding to kill Walter, the troops tied his hands to one horse, and his feet to another. The two horses were sent in different directions, tearing Walter in half. He was then left in the street to bleed out and die.
When he awoke, he saw the black man that he saved. He was confused as to how he was alive, and apparently, in one piece, a huge scar was across his middle. The man said he was a Voodoo Doctor and he saved Walter's life. The Voodoo man also said he would bring justice to the downtrodden and would live as long as he was needed.
After his incident he ran away from the army, to go back home. Along his way he ran into a young lady who happened to be traveling the same way for a few days. They spent the days and nights together as they rode and fell in love. Walter asked if he could bring her to his family, but she refused, saying she had business in the Colorado territory. She gave him a locket and a photo of her family. Walter tore her picture out and placed it in the locket, placing it around his neck.
After they parted, Walter made his way to his home. What he saw when he arrived made his heart drop.
The ground was soaked in the blood of the workers. Everything was in disarray. He ran towards the house and saw his father and brother hanging from the large tree next to the house, dead. Running into the house he then saw his mother's body on the ground in a pool of blood. His little sister was upstairs in his room, in his closet, and was obviously shot.
He wandered for quite a while, fighting for justice as the Voodoo man said. Once he was about 60 years old, with silver hair, but still, in top physical shape, he stopped aging.
He fought in WWI and WWII, "dying" and finding a way to get back to the US. He has several fake IDs to circumvent any mishaps.
In 1952, he was found by former Agent Cherub and Agent Nephilim.
Find the file here
He has been with Roanoke since then and doesn't plan to leave any time soon.

A Very Roanoke Winter
@the-roanoke-society
What Winter Holiday they celebrate: Chanukah! Rebekah is Jewish and therefore she celebrates Hannukah. (Which actually overlaps with Christmas this year, funnily enough)
Favorite Holiday Food: Latkes and sufganiyot! Latkes are fried potato pancakes and sufganiyot are sort of like little jelly filled doughnuts.
Favorite Holiday Drink: Hot chocolate with all the fixings. Can you have it year-round? Technically. But does it just taste better during the winter months? Y e s.
Favorite Holiday Activity: Telling/listening to the story of the Maccabees. Hanukkah may not be the most important holiday out of the Jewish calendar, but after everything she has been through, the story behind it is important to her.
Favorite Holiday Tradition: When she was younger (before she was kidnapped and forced into a cult), her family would get together for a large dinner on one of the nights of Hanukkah and have what was known as The Great Debate. Which would be when everyone would get up in arms about the proper toppings for latkes. It would always end the same way with everyone agreeing to disagree and it would happen Every Year.
Favorite childhood memory for this time of year: Her favorite childhood memories are always from the last night. Seeing all eight candles lit on the menorah was always something she treasured seeing.
Snowball fight or build a snowman: Building a snowman.
Ice skating or sleigh ride: Ice skating! Especially on the lake in the gardens.
Hot chocolate or Egg nog: Hot chocolate. 110% hot chocolate over anything.
Frost sugar cookies or build a gingerbread house: Frost sugar cookies!
Buy gifts or make gifs: Make gifts! She's a crafter at heart. Painting, needlework, sewing, crochet, you name it, she's probably done it.
Curl up in blankets or sit by a fireplace: I raise you: sit by the fireplace while curled up in blankets. Double toasty warm.
Least favorite thing about winter: How cold it is. It's really a double edged sword. On one hand, it gives snow and the ability to curl up by a nice, roaring fire! On the other hand, most of her plants are now dead and she doesn't have many fond memories of cold places.
Snow or no snow: S n o w. Even if she doesn't really like the cold or cold weather, snow is one of her favorite things about this time of year.
Anything you'd like to add: Bekah has a natural curiosity about other holidays. She's always willing to learn something new about them, but won't necessarily participate in celebrating those holidays.

(for the happier headcanon questions: 13, 18 and 24. <3)
13. what would your muse consider their best physical feature?
He's quite fond of his eyes, but he also loves lifting heavy things, like various car parts or working a pulley to lift an engine block and feeling the burn of his arms, core, and legs working for him.
18. what kind of hugs does your muse give? gentle? tight? pick and spin?
Depends on who he's hugging. Usually it's a side-hug. Joan usually gets a handclasp that turns into a hug with their joined hands trapped between their chests. Josie gets the type of hug you'd give your mom, something gentle, maybe lingering a little. Jennifer/Agent Banshee (@agents-of-virtue) gets the pick-up-and-spin when he hasn't seen her for a while.
24. what is your muse’s favorite animal? have they ever gotten to see one in person?

Okay, so we know what modern historians would lose their shit over. Imagine historians in the 1850s realizing they can get eyewitness accounts of events from over 200 years ago after dragons get to be in Parliment, and the Royal Society getting swamped with "anonymous" eyewitness reports of Oliver Cromwell's revolution or the establishment of Jamestown Virginia.
good point! My first thought was also about stuff like Roanoke which like. we do know what happened to Roanoke. it's not hard to put together. but also there's gotta be an American dragon out there at the time of canon who could explain the whole thing in perfect detail. nobody could even pretend there was a mystery there

I think the reason usamericans are obsessed with trying to turn Roanoke into some sort of mystery is because it's only conceivable that native americans would fold into european society instead of vice versa.
