And are they all the same ranking within the foot? Bc the show made some jokes about the hierarchy and one of the positions was like toe or something lmao. So I’m curious if any outrank each other or Cassandra or even where April falls!

Will we get to see Splinter in this AU?

We absolutely will! He plays a fairly significant role! He currently lives alone and as inconspicuously as possible in the Hidden City. He has no idea that any of his sons survived the lab explosion that mutated him, but he may or may not end up running into someone at some point who happens to be familiar with them...

Do the boys still love Lou Jitsu? Do they retain their old interests?

Absolutely! Punch Chowder is their collective favorite. They have had many movie nights with Lt. and Brute in the past and probably will continue to do so in the future! Casey doesn't really get their obsession (they're good, but not that good,) but has watched all the movies with them anyway. The boys do have a lot of the same interests! But... slightly to the left? Mikey still loves art and graffiti-- New York is littered with the Foot Clan's symbol, which doubles as his tag. Raph still loves wrestling, and he usually gets his fix by visiting the Battle Nexus to watch competitors tear each other limb from limbety-limb. Donnie still loves tech and science, though with a lot more mystic elements mixed in. And the Foot Clan doesn't mind if he makes bombs! They even encourage it! :)

Are they all the same rank in the Foot?

More or less! They're all still young and relatively low ranking amongst the organization. Casey is the 'leader' and is considered in charge of the rest of them, but that basically went kind of like this:

If you were to organize them by rank, it'd go Casey -> Raph -> Everyone Else, with most of the rest of the clan above them, save for other, newer recruits. That being said, the turtles sort of hold a special, unofficial 'rank' given that they've been with the clan since infancy, and this unspoken status also extends to Casey and April (to an extent) by association.

April was kind of a sister to the turtles in the series. Is it still like that or has the dynamic shifted or changed in some way?

Kind of! They're all definitely still super close, but they met April much later in life than they did in canon. April also had to go through a huge adjustment period when she ran away from home and joined the Clan (duh) which led to their relationship being a tiny bit volatile/strained for a period of time until she settled in. (April also ended up growing very close with Casey during this time. The brothers have been with the Foot for basically their entire lives; this has always been their world. But Casey remembers when she first joined the Clan. She had to adjust, too.) They all definitely consider her their best friend and would do just about anything for her. And if you asked the boys if they have a sister, they'd still say yes-- and then they'd point you towards Casey.

I do love the book but it's harder to get through than the show if you don't care for wangxian just because the focus is that much narrower. The nature of adaptation and also CQL having objectively too many episodes(Guanyin temple did NOT need four eps lol) turns it into an ensemble show with something for everyone. Yanli takes fifty chapters to show up and Wen Qing doesn't make her entrance until chapter 60. I am one of those people who very much do enjoy wangxian both separately and together but I also consider them one of the less interesting storylines and there are relatively few scenes of theirs I reread compared to the rest of the cast.

AGREEEEEED. The show cares so much for the supporting characters and gives such life to them--as adaptations of works with such vast words SHOULD once they've been freed from the constraints of first-person or third-person-limited narration, honestly. Knowing that there's less WQ in the novel is particularly disappointing to me, bc I love her friendship with WWX, and had hoped All WWX All The Time would at least mean more mad scientist friendship time! Alas.

That said. I am going to go on a tangent because ohhhhhhhh my god, Guanyin Temple and its need for editing.

@maester-of-spreadsheets and I have compared Guanyin Temple to Act IV of a Shakespeare play. A lot of Act IVs includes a super intense scene where the characters are in a state of HIGH EMOTION as shit hits the fan and we hurtle towards the climactic action in Act V--Ophelia's mad scene, Richard II's deposition, Brutus and Cassius's breakup fight, Richard III's coercion of Elizabeth Woodville, etc. These scenes are all CERTIFIED BANGERS that hold their plays together.

However. The reason these scenes go so hard is that they're just ONE SCENE. One really long-ass scene, maybe, but "long" here is maybe 20 minutes, bc we can't chug along with the same exact level and type of intensity for much longer than and remain engaged... which is EXACTLY what happens in CQL's iteration of Guanyin Temple. Without Mingjue's corpse busting in like the Kool-Aid man to release the tension in explosive action (the blade spirit does NOT cut it unless "it" is JGY's arm) or Wangxian's confession to release tension with some levity, it's just tearful emotional reckoning after tearful emotional reckoning for THREE ENTIRE HOURS.

And like, I 100% find every plot being rehashed at Guanyin Temple more interesting than anything Wangxian have going, but it's weird to have our protagonists just sitting there spectating other people's emotional implosions for the equivalent of an entire feature-length film. Like, they tried with the curse mark thing and the Second Flautist, but all the plot permits WWX to do is scowl tearfully about these major revelations because JGY's gotta be killed by NHS via LXC.

It had me by the throat when I first watched it because all the information was BRAND NEW and I genuinely didn't know what was going to happen, but on rewatches I just get tired. Individual bits are great on their own, but as one long slog? Noooooo thank you. And the abrupt mood whiplash and confused pacing once the focus returns to Wangxian for good leaves a weird taste in my mouth.

Sorry! I think this got buried in my notifications! I don't get very many asks and I just saw this in my inbox which I never usually look at.

This was a lot so I figured out how to add a cut. See below.

Generally, I'm not a *huge* fan of bottle episodes. Pragmatically speaking, bottle episodes serve a purpose in the TV industry as a low-budget episode because they only need to use one set for the whole episode and there are no location shots and relatively few actors and probably no extras. That puts a huge amount of pressure on the writing and the actors and it is, as you say, more of a play format which makes sense given everything I just mentioned. Most of the time they feel, to me, like the writers and production team are trying to *do* something in a way that as an audience member I don't actually want to be aware of. Like maybe they're swimming beyond their depth. It feels forced, is what I'm saying. Forced and itchy and uncomfortable and I find myself checking the time every 2 minutes waiting for it to end. So I almost never hope for a bottle episode.

BUT I have really liked Mariska's bottle episodes on SVU. I'm thinking specifically of Something Happened, Part 33, The Year We All Fell Down, and 911. None of which were perfect bottle episodes, as I recall, because they did have some movements to other sets and some location shooting and things like that. But any 43-minute show that has Mariska on my screen for 40 of those minutes is fine by me. And she tends to do really well with them. I get the feeling she enjoys the challenge and so she puts a lot of herself into them. She won a freaking Emmy for 911 after all. I also think if it was an EO episode, she would be so beyond focused on making it perfect bc this has been her dream really since day one imo. (There's a clip floating around if Chris giving an interview in season one and Mariska runs up and hugs him and says, "He's playing a detective that's in love with his partner," or something along those lines.) And I think Chris would be great at it too. So all that to say, I do think the actors are up to the challenge.

I worry about the writing a bit though. While I understand where you're coming from, I'm not sure I'd agree about them just ad-libbing it bc to me this is something that needs to be pretty carefully thought out with a clear understanding of the implications of the words and a pretty specific memory of the past events they're discussing and the actors are great, but they've been part of this for 24 years and aren't going to remember everything. Someone needs to go back and reference old episodes. If a bottle episode happens, I want that script to be *crackling* with subtext. I want to hear Elliot apologize for not being there and Olivia say, "I know you can't spend your life looking over your shoulder to make sure I'm okay." I want them sharing a drink. I want her to have to blink a light at him to show she's okay. I want him to ask if anyone's taking care of her. And I want him to cradle her in his arms like he did in fault and spooked. I don't expect all (or realistically any) of that too happen, but I think a carefully, beautifully written script would do this moment the most justice. Idk if the writers are up to that or not, but they've been showing us things this season that (mostly) give reason to hope.

The actual plot of a bottle episode is where I get tied up though. SVU is a police procedural above all else and every other bottle episode they've ever done has been related to solving the mystery of a case. An interrogation, a hostage situation, a mystery girl on a phone, and argument in a court house waiting room. These are what we've seen before and what we would expect to see from a show like SVU. An EO bottle episode is uncharted territory. Is there a case that's going to be taking up half the plot? I cannot imagine them really talking unless they were alone so that rules out most of what we've seen before. (Although, Olivia having to interrogate Elliot for a crime while half the department stands on the other side of the window does sound *delicious*.)

A court house argument could work, with the aspects of the case hitting *all* the wrong buttons for them, but it's been done before. Some kind of escape room type scenario could be really fun and interesting. Where they're trapped somewhere and need to solve a mystery to get out. That could be on point and very them, but unless it feels like life-and-death, idk if there would be enough of a driving force to get them where they need to be emotionally.

If I were going to write a fic about it, it would be a situation where they were maybe chasing a suspect or investigating a location and no one really knows exactly where they are and they get hurt and trapped somewhere. Personal preference, I would have her more hurt than him. I want it to be kinda enclosed so maybe it's triggering her claustrophobia (which she has if it's my fic). I want him to need to pull some of her clothes off to help with her injuries and find her scars from William Lewis. I want her to ask him to take Noah if she dies. I want him to be in serious pain from his own injuries but feral to save her. Maybe in the end, his recovery time is worse bc he does something stupid to get them out. I think the fear of death and of missing their chance to be together might be what it takes to make it finally happen. These two are very stubborn. If they were just trapped in a room together with no other problems idk if they'd get there. (Maybe, he's pretty motivated now, so that would help. But idk if he's going to push her too hard if she's really fighting him in it.)

Also, they're gonna kiss if it's my fic, and imo, their grievously-injured bodies are about the only thing I think would keep them from going all the way the first time they kiss. And I don't mind that either, but the idea of them finally being together, but having to wait 6-8 weeks to get medically cleared for sex sounds really fun. The first day in the hospital is very *serious* but the second day features them both trying to check out AMA and him hobbling his way into her room and making out with her in a hospital bed. They're going to get busted multiple times by different people. And yes, realistically they should be traumatized, but things worked out in the end and they've got the world's best security blankets. And I think even Liv's shrink would tell her to go for it.

I'd also like to add these guys are roughly life-sized, based on comparison of wisp venti's size to the bard's head in screenshots from The Boy and the Whirlwind animation

The original, the one, the only, TB (originally meant to stand for Tiny Barbatos, but at this point it alternates between that and Tiny Bastard), the one that stared it all in June of 2021

he is also the only one w/ a name bc I didn't expect to make so many more

this li'l one's my second wisp. They've been to a lotta places with me, and even have been to comic con! (/srs - a prop for my Nameless Bard cosplay)

they're what started the actual trend of me making these lil fellows ; I wanted to take TB on vacation with me but got scared bc I didn't know how to clean felt, so I made a second one a few days before our trip with t-shirt fabric. I've smuggled them into school a few times too

i never gave the third a name, but they look like they'd be namedFrank

they were an experiment to see how non-stretchy fabric worked with the pattern (Which was primarily drafted for use with felt, as that's my go-to sewing medium)

They uh... no longer exist (which looking back on, I'm sad about, I wish I kept them instead of [redacted])

One of my partners affectionately calls this one the strawberry wisp

They're actually based on art by Ceri_obt on twitter, of their corruption AU venti and the wisp form to go with it

I planned to add chains from the craft store and then I didn't

their eyes also used to swivel bc of how I unintentionally sewed the buttons in ; after awhile they got too loose, so i just hot-glued them into the above position.

I guess you could say they have a case of... resting wisp face?

I wanted to experiment with how I attached the flowy part, and I had more spare tshirt fabric, hence.. this li'l fellow

i agree with what you said so much! taylor has such a talent for storytelling; it's truly amazing the way she transports you to the scenery she's describing when she sings 🤯🤯🤯 although not colour, but the way she makes snow on the beach sound exactly like that... mindblowing!

ohhhh, i'm surprised to see we share some likings! i'm more of a casual fan (i don't really follow them so i have noo idea what they're up to, however, i enjoy their music a lot!), but halsey is very good! i used to listen to them obsessively back when badlands came out; it's like one of those things that etch into your brain forever. i loveeee haunting, control, castle, and strange love! i listened to if i can't have love i want power last year and i enjoyed it a lot too, although i haven't really listened to it more, i found it to be an amazing album as well (i am not a woman, i'm a god is such a bop).

fall out boy are also amazing!! save rock and roll is like one of my favourite albums EVER, and american beauty/american psycho also is one of my faves to listen to! if you said they have new music coming, i hope i don't miss it :) ariana too!! ugh, i adore her music; dangerous woman is also one of my favourites and she's just so!! i do realise i am quite disconnected from mainstream media lately, but before the pandemic i was head over heels with these artists! demi lovato is also incredible! i love their voice (i am not sure at this point how they identify, so i apologise if i'm misgendering them); truly a wonder to witness 👀 although i think they put a rock album lately? i heard one song and i want to listen to it skjndshfb

i was a big fan of 5SOS back in high school too, although some things happened and i kinda just ignore them now 🫥🫥 (nothing personal, they just remind me of someone) but i've seen they've gotten big and that makes me happy for them cause they were really good and their albums (the first two) were on my playlist every day!

so i saw your updated post about your encanto au n i just wanna SCREAM BC I JUS HAD THESE SAD ANGSTY HCS ABOUT FORTUNE N MIDORIYA- like after their house is destroyed, izuku pulls a mirabel n leaves for a bit which triggers shouta n hitoshi of when fortune left 😭 then fORTUNE trying to get used to being around ppl n eating hearty meals again which leads to the reveal of where she was for the past 10 yrs UGHH THE PAIN FOR SHOUTA N HITOSHI MY GOD-

Ugh the angst is seriously real in this AU. These poor characters 😭

I'm honestly torn between Izuku running off like Mirabel or him getting stopped by Fortune who, after escaping the collapsing house, immediately runs back inside when she sees Izuku is still in there and she shields him with her body when it all comes tumbling down. Thankfully, the house is able to provide enough covering to keep them from suffering serious injuries, but they're basically trapped under some rubble until their relatives pull them out

During that time, Fortune scolds Izuku for being reckless and tells him that his life is worth way more than a stupid candle. She would much rather have him than the magic. Cue very emotional moment for Izuku who finally hears the words he's been needing to hear for the last ten years.

But if Izuku were to run off, you can bet Fortune would be running after him with Shouta & Hitoshi hot on their heels lol

In regards to Shouta & Hitoshi first encountering Fortune after those ten years, I actually like the idea of twisting the Encanto plot a little bit by having those two be the ones who stumble upon Izuku with the vision rather than have it be one of Izuku's parents.

After scolding the hell out of Izuku for going into Fortune's tower by himself, they put the vision together and eventually come to the realization that Fortune left to protect Izuku.

Izuku naturally feels guilty about this, but Shouta & Hitoshi both tell him it's everyone else's fault for always assuming the worst of Fortune. If everyone wasn't so hard on her, she wouldn't have felt pressured to leave to protect him.

After that, dinner happens, and it turns out a disaster thanks to Eri's animal friends who get a hold of the vision shards. So the plot moves forward like the movie in that regard.

Izuku meets Fortune and tries to convince her to reveal herself to the family cause he knows how much Shouta & Hitoshi miss/love her, but Fortune's scared to do it while the magic is failing since she knows everyone would immediately put the blame on her if she were to show up while everything is going to hell.

Realizing she's right, Izuku comes up with the idea of them working together to save the magic. If they were to do that, there's no way anyone could talk badly about her anymore, and she finally agrees cause she trusts him and really wants to be with her family again.

After that, Eri appears to offer her room which is where Fortune has her vision which, much to her and Izuku's surprise, shows her hugging her brothers and Izuku & Katsuki shaking hands while smiling.

Both of them panic because Fortune doesn't understand why she's in the vision, considering Izuku is supposed to save the magic not her, and Izuku is panicking cause this means he has to somehow make Katsuki smile at him which he thinks is impossible lol

I like the idea of Shouta & Hitoshi showing up around this time because they've been looking for Izuku all this time, and they figured Eri's room would be the best hiding place for him.

So this is when they have their big reunion with Fortune who was wholly unprepared lol

The reason I like the idea of them reuniting here is cause then I could include the angst of the guys panicking when the house goes down cause at that moment Fortune was supposed to be hiding inside the house away from the entrance where the rest of the family, sans Izuku, escapes thanks to the house moving them to safety.

Cue very emotional moment when Shouta & Hitoshi find her alive and realize they haven't lost her for a second time 😭

Ahh thank you for this!! also jsyk i'd been getting annoying ass anons lately and i saw the notification on my ask box and was like "great another one" but i saw this and it made me smile so ty ty!! hidden under a cut bc it will be long lmao (after writing it all out and checking the word count it’s literally 1200+ words lmao)

1) Even though they've grown so much since their teenage years, they're not totally immune to little fights here and there. But it's mostly just petty bickering that fizzles out by the end of the day. And it's split pretty evenly between them. Rachel will complain if Santana leaves the apartment a mess, like not washing her dishes or picking up after herself and leaving stuff too sloppy. And Santana will complain if Rachel is working too hard and ends up missing a date night. But like I said, it doesn't last long. They eventually realized that making up is much more fun than holding grudges

2) They both do! They're very pretty women but it isn't totally effortless. When it comes to going out, Santana takes much longer than Rachel does. Rachel can do her hair and makeup relatively quickly, while Santana takes much more time to style herself up. Rachel also makes sure to lay her outfit out the night before, so she doesn't spend too much time picking out an outfit. While Santana has to have a mini fashion show before every event, trying on at least half a dozen outfits before she picks one. But when it comes to coming home and getting ready for bed, they're the opposite. Rachel has her whole elaborate routine of bathing, scrubbing, exfoliating, moisturizing, her nightly tea, etc etc. Whereas Santana pretty much changes into pajamas, wipes her makeup off, and brushes her teeth before collapsing into bed. She always tries to wait up for Rachel though, no matter how tired she is

3) Both! They literally sang "So Emotional" that was about both of them. They are two supremely emotional beings that cram so many big feelings into a couple of lil bodies.

4) Rachel is the big spoon more often than not. She just loves wrapping herself around Santana and clinging to her. But she also likes cuddling Santana while Santana is laying on her back, so she can rest her head on her shoulder and they can hug each other. But they're also both very fussy sleepers so they hardly ever wake up in the same cuddly position they went to sleep in

5) They both read a considerable amount, but if you count fanfiction then it's definitely Santana. We all know what a huge nerd she is, and at any given time she'll have like ten tabs on her phone for various fanfics she's in the middle of. But they have a pretty good collection of actual books that they read when they can. Rachel is partial to historical fiction romances, children's classics she loved as a kid, as well as plenty of biographies of her favorite actors. Santana's tastes are more scattered. Lots of fantasy, murder mysteries, graphic novels, horror stories that secretly freak her out. And any time she hears of a new kid/YA book with a queer protagonist, she picks it up and reads it for her little tween past self that didn't get to grow up with stories like that

6) Rachel acts like the bigger baby when she thinks she's sick. It's usually just anxiety and she doesn't know how to express it other than "I feel nauseous and I'm going to die". But whenever she's actually sick, she brushes it off as no big deal and tries to keep going. Santana basically has to force her into bed to receive medicine, chicken soup, and vitamin c, and take time off until she feels better. But Santana becomes completely helpless whenever she's under the weather. Anything more severe than the sniffles and she's down for the count. But Rachel doesn't mind babying/humoring her to nurse her back to health and maybe finds Santana's candystriper costume and dons it in order to help her gf heal <3

7) Rachel! Unfortunately Santana still has reservations about showing affection like that, at least in front of other people. She’s used to getting reprimanded for the tiniest pecks in public, or cheered on by gross guys at parties who think girl on girl kissing is for their pleasure only. Whereas Rachel never had those hangups. Same sex affection was normalized for her since birth, and she only dated boys in high school so no one cared about their PDA then. She didn’t even officially realize she was a lesbian until she was in NY, a place that’s generally more accepting towards people like them. So she never had it constantly hammered into her that her affection was wrong or shameful or something she needed to hide. So she ended up being more free wheelin with kisses and such

8) I’m answering these one at a time without really looking ahead so alsfjksl the last answer can also tie into this one! But it’s not like Santana is totally cold or anything. She has tons of affectionate moments with Rachel. Her biggest one is hand holding. If she’s within arm’s reach of Rachel then she’s holding her hand

9) Hmm they both suffer from sleepy bitch disease from time to time. If they’re on public transit together early in the morning, Rachel will rest her head on Santana’s shoulder and end up nodding off, no matter how noisy or bumpy the ride is. And after a long day when they’re just watching tv or something similar, cuddling on the couch, Santana will end up dozing off and slumping against Rachel

10) They both have a bit of a jealous streak. I mean who can blame them when they both have experience with high school sweethearts whose hearts they’ve had to share, and that have picked someone else over them before? So they can get jealous and possessive of one another. But in a sexy flirty way, not a gross toxic way

11) Santana is definitely the later sleeper. Again with Rachel’s routines, she’s up early every morning to work out, have a healthy breakfast, wash up, and get ready for the day. Santana likes to wake up slowly and take her time in the mornings. Which is good because her schedule is much more packed later on in the day. But so is Rachel’s, and frankly Santana doesn’t see how she can still seem to be going at 100% even late into the evening

12) Oof honestly they both have trouble with this sometimes. But Rachel is sometimes worse. She can get into a mood where, even if it seems like she’s carrying on a conversation as normal, she’s really just half zoned out and focusing on what she has to say next. She doesn’t even do it on purpose to be selfish, she just wants to make sure everything she says is just right so she can get all her feelings out in the open.

13) Rachel does! But it’s not a problem. Santana is usually a hot sleeper. As long as she has a little bit of sheet covering at least part of her body, she’s fine. It’s only in the dead of winter that she needs layers of blankets, but that’s when Rachel is cuddled up to her in the middle of the night anyway, so the blankets aren’t going anywhere

14) Continued from #10 lol. They get like playful jealous when it comes to other people hitting on the other. But that’s about it. They don’t get jealous or resentful of one another for anything anymore, and are always just genuinely happy to see each other succeed.

15) More often than not, Rachel is the dominant one in bed and Santana is more submissive. But they definitely have moods where they switch it up
