Illustration: Carol Of The Field Mice. :: from The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame :: by Inga Moore.
* * * *
It was a pretty sight, and a seasonable one, that met their eyes when they flung the door open. In the fore-court, lit by the dim rays of a horn lantern, some eight or ten little field-mice stood in a semicircle, red worsted comforters round their throats, their fore-paws thrust deep into their pockets, their feet jigging for warmth. With bright beady eyes they glanced shyly at each other, sniggering a little, sniffing and applying coat-sleeves a good deal. As the door opened, one of the elder ones that carried the lantern was just saying, "Now then, one, two, three!" and forthwith their shrill little voices uprose on the air, singing one of the old-time carols that their forefathers composed in fields that were fallow and held by frost, or when snow-bound in chimney corners, and handed down to be sung in the miry street to lamp-lit windows at Yule-time.”
~Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows.

Mold
Tumblr media
I have heard people complain about the affectation in writing out "u"'s for a British spelling of English words, as well as other utilizing of the Queen's (now King's) English instead of our common use. "Prretentiou!" they say. "This isn't Britain!". Yeah, well, it is that situation where the only thing worse than the thing is getting all huffy about the thing. That said, I had not encountered " mould".

And here the janitor is still unsettled. Mr. Svenson has not arrived. Though on presentation with Mr. Johnson, something is curious.
Tumblr media
He does not look like Mr. Svenson. But he has the same expression -- a callback to Ed Brendel, and "y" sound deploying Swedish accent.

Monarchies are only fun in fiction. But overthrowing a monarchy in real life could be very fun

So I’m not part of Dracula Daily but I do get context from mutuals who do- what are your thoughts on the Queen dying not long after Van Helsing was introduced?
Friend, I want to thank you for this ask. It rendered me speechless.

Been using this quote a lot since yesterday.
James Connolly was executed by crown forces in 1916. Despite a doctor saying he had two days at the most to live due to injuries sustained during the Easter Rising, he was brought by military ambulance to Kilmainham Gaol where he had to be tied to a chair to be shot, because he couldn’t stand. He was then dumped in a mass grave with the other executed leaders.

I know we all have our own opinions on P.A. Works throwing this line into the ending of the final episode:
Tumblr media
BUT!! The English dub is now out.
In the English dub, Miri says this phrase a little differently. She says that Kazuki “went out drinking with the ladies.”
This sounds a lot less like a pathetically belated attempt at no homo and a lot more like saying the ladies are his friend group, which would make sense, seeing how Kazuki immediately made friends with the daycare moms back when Miri was little.
It’s a small change, and honestly could just have been a logistical (mouth flap) choice, but it blends in with their prologue far better than the original phrase in Japanese had done. It’s even more open-ended to the nature of his and Rei’s relationship than the original, which I think is a smart choice, given how many potentially queer categories they can fall under when no label is given.
The English dub for this show has been a delight from start to finish, really, so this was the perfect way to end the series, imo. I’m gonna miss them. 🥲

“Women, for no other crime than having followed the dictates of a natural appetite, are driven with fury from the comforts and sympathies of society. [..] Has a woman obeyed the impulse of unerring nature; — society declares war against her, pitiless and eternal war: she must be the tame slave, she must make no reprisals; theirs is the right of persecution, hers the duty of endurance. She lives a life of infamy: the loud and bitter laugh of scorn scares her from all return. She dies of long and lingering disease: yet she is in fault, she is the criminal, she the froward and untameable child, — and society, forsooth, the pure and virtuous matron, who casts her as an abortion from her undefiled bosom!”
— Percy Bysshe Shelley, Queen Mab; A Philosophical Poem; With Notes (1813).

Time Travel Question : Murder and Disappearance Edition I
Given that Judge Crater, Roanoke, and the Dyatlov Pass Incident are credibly solved, though not 100% provable, I'm leaving them out in favor of things ,ore mysterious. I almost left out Amelia Earhart, but the evidence there is sketchier.
Some people were a little confused. Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury are the Princes in the Tower.
