Me someone obsessed with Jesus Christ Superstar: ‘so it’s just a knock off Jesus Christ superstar but they just turned it into a jukebox musical .’
My partner, a Dutch person who watches The Passion every Easter: ‘No,,, well yes kind of’
Two moments later, my partner: ‘they also do a sequel on Ascension day too! Now shhh let’s watch these clips from the past 5 years of the same scene’

Ok but do people actually know that German TV channel RTL did a live-broadcast of The Passion of the Christ on Good Friday 2022, only that they decided to make it a musical and cast the winner of the first-ever season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (German American Idol) as Jesus and that after all of that they didn't even write original songs but used famous German pop ballads and it was already so over the top it went straight from garbage to glorious and so the betrayal happens but SOMEONE looked at Judas selling Jesus for thirty pieces of silver and went "Hey guys you know what let's have Jesus and Judas sing one of the most famous German breakup ballads of the last twenty years at each other right before Judas kisses Jesus and NOT EVEN CHANGE THE LYRICS" do people know that because I myself have to check now and then that it wasn't just some fanfiction fever-dream
I am not kidding.

So I don’t believe in god but the amount of self-control it’s taking to not do a character analysis on Judas and interpretations of him in the Bible and in media is WAY too much
(For context: recently got into Jesus Christ superstar and the treatment of Judas made me curious)

it is honestly so, so incredibly touching that the final lines in einhorn's composition for The Passion of Joan of Arc is Jeanne's own words, harkening back to some of her greatest victories.
the way that Voices of Light generally mixes quotes from medieval persons and the bible to depict support or condemnation of Jeanne is both incredibly well done and deeply fascinating, but the way it incorporates her own quotes about herself and her mission is really beautiful. the way that they're used in various scenes -- showing her both in her moments of bravery and anguish --literally has me sobbing

Wonderful Things That May or May Not Be Wonderful!!!
Hey, guess what? I can now say I’ve seen two live musical theater performances in my life. What’s the second one? The biblical Passion as a full on rock opera. Yep, I’m talking about Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice’s seminal masterpiece, Jesus Christ Superstar. A layered and tragic story with themes of inescapable fate, toxic expectations and what it really means to be a good person brought to life with all the glittering lights, intense choreography and heavy metal wailing one could ever want in a stage production. It was overwhelming to be honest not helped by my hearing sensitivity and a tall person sitting in front of me but those aren’t problems with the work itself. In any case, it gives me a reason to go see this masterwork of musical theater again and I think that’s pretty wonderful even if theater ticket prices aren’t. Oh, and as usual, my favorite tracks from the show were Heaven on the Minds, This Jesus Must Die, The Temple and Gethsemane. Christ, that man can sing.
