I just binged the last B99 season on Netflix and I was thinking, ah... an ending that leaves me content. There really wasn’t a lot of those going around in the last few years. I remember... The Office (US), The Good Place, Parks and Recreation (not perfect but not bad)...
i need to stop watching workplace comedies they make me want to get another job like parks and recreation had me looking at open positions at the local parks department

What are your favorite tv shows? Do you have any fave tv couples????
ummmm i think my og fave tv show was bones (hello booth......hello!) but i like parks n rec, rpdr, love island, patriot act, the office, b99, silicon valley, succession, elite, the good place......im blanking
So mike schur fans really have an habit of ignoring fatphobia i guess huh i didn't know about parks n rec but b99 was soooo fatphobic (even though fans say there's no discrimination!!!1!1!1)
parks and rec is extremely anti-fat people. i watched quite a bit of b99 and all of parks, and i can say for sure that parks was a lot worse in this area. here are some highlights
a lot of jokes based on the fact that donna is ““““surprisingly”””” sexually desirable - because fat women are supposed to be unfuckable i guess? (and certainly racism is part of the “joke” here as well)
the same joke for jerry, whose wife is played by a thin supermodel. all their daughters are beautiful and thin. all the characters are constantly saying how flummoxed they are that jerry was able to “get” her, because why would someone like her want to be with a fat guy i guess (and also, women are objects!)
jerry, a nice guy who treats everyone with respect, is the office scapegoat - constantly teased and subjected to humiliating physical gags like trying to fish a burrito out of a creek (presumably planning to EAT THE BURRITO THAT WAS IN THE CREEK???) and having his pants rip while everyone laughs
the citizens of pawnee are unilaterally presented as dumb, lazy, ignorant, selfish, and only interested in drinking sugary sodas that leslie has to wrest out of their fat hands (that’s the plot of one whole episode but it’s also a running thread that arises every time leslie deals with the public throughout the entire series)
lots of jokes about diabetes and how ugly people with diabetes are???
some of the series’ iconic “antagonists” are a burger chain (offensive logo at the link) and a candy corporation that sells 128-oz sodas and engages in political corruption. of course, the fat, ignorant citizens are too stupid to see the red flags so they adore these companies, being brainwashed by SUGAR and CALORIES. only leslie and ann, thin heroes, are smart enough to “save” the citizens
this one random gag where a woman says straight-up that her husband gaining weight ruined their marriage
the town motto is “first in friendship, fourth in obesity. nbc put this on bumper stickers.
Bill: Like I’ve said, my favorite movie is definitely Wayne’s World. I love how funny it is and the characters in it. I also really like Brother Bear, it’s a quality movie. 10/10 would recommend. For TV shows, I really like American Horror Story, Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, and The End of the Fucking World.
Eddie: I’ve said before that I like The Wizard of Oz, but I don’t watch a lot of TV unless I can secretly use someone else’s Netflix or Hulu account. I watch a lot of documentaries on my mom’s account, but only the kinds she won’t make a fuss about. But Stan’s letting me use his accounts now so the first thing I’m watching is Queer Eye, and I love it! They help people so much, people who really need it. I want the Fab Five to adopt me.
Richie: 30 Rock, Friends, B99, Parks and Rec, Sense8 (how dare they cancel the best show), Game of Thrones, Outlander (Jamie made me have a second gay awakening), How to Get Away with Murder, Modern Family, South Park, Bojack Horseman, Rick and Morty, Gravity Falls, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Over the Garden Wall, Bob’s Burgers…there is more but these are my TIP TOP. Pulp Fiction is the BEST MOVIE.
Mike: Alien is still my favorite movie. I don’t follow a lot of shows but I casually watch comedies like ‘The Office’ to pass the time or when I need a pick-me-up.
Stan: I find myself fascinated by movies where the main character undergoes some sort of emotional or physical trial in an attempt to understand their own psyche. Donnie Darko, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Sucker Punch, Fight Club, the list goes on and on. When it comes to television shows, I tend towards things like Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mad Men, Hannibal, House… Sort of all over the place, I suppose.
Bev: I’m stuck between Girlboss and GLOW, I’ve started both those shows last weekend and I cannot stop watching them. Actually looking back a lot of shows that I enjoy they all basically have a strong, three-dimensional, female protagonist. So like the bare minimum a show should have, naturally. As for a favorite movie I mentioned the Devil Wears Prada before but Easy A also has my heart. The message it brings is just something I can relate to when I look back at my childhood. Plus it’s also like really funny.
Ben: Well, I already said my favorite movie was Star Wars, so I guess I’m gonna say another one now, uh… the classic, The Wolf Man, or Alien too! I could also say Inception, even though I have a strange relationship with it. The idea of designing and creating an entire world without having to obey the laws of physics is so intriguing, who wouldn’t want that kind of freedom? But it also freaks me out whenever I watch it. I know it’s impossible, of course, yet I get scared way more by this movie than by any horror movie ever. Don’t know why. It’s cool. Also I like crime drama shows, so like Breaking Bad, or Criminal Minds. My favorite one is Highway Patrol though, and I know it’s really old and you only ever see it on TCM, but it’s so damn good. You don’t mess with Dan Matthews, man.
