Good Vibrations Part One
Hello, it's me, back at it again with another Steddie AU.
Anyway, if I were tagging this AU, these would be the most important ones: Deaf Steve Harrington; Tooth-rotting Fluff; Getting Together
If you wanna be tagged in future parts, just let me know!
As always, if you see any typos, no you didn't ;)
----
Steve has blown through three pairs of hearing aids in the past year. The first pair had lasted a few years and needed replacement because of normal wear and tear. The second pair was sacrificed during that fight with Jonathan. He hadn't been wearing them, but they'd been in Steve's pocket, and he'd landed at just the right angle to feel them shatter. The third pair was taken by the Russians because, despite Robin's shouting and cursing at them for being dumbasses (and this was before she actually knew what they were for), they accused him of recording their kidnapping and torture.
Honestly, he wouldn't recommend fighting Russians and Billy and Mind Flayers and driving while nearly totally deaf.
The funniest part of it all, though, is that Steve doesn't even use hearing aids regularly. He normally only wears them at home. The pair lost to Jonathan were present because, well, that whole day had been a lot for Steve, and he needed the comfort of knowing he could stop reading lips the moment it became too exhausting for him. The pair lost to the Russians was because he'd been getting ready to tell Robin about being deaf. She'd already clocked the weird things he does (well, weird to her, normal to Steve), and he figured letting her in on the big secret would bring them a little closer.
Of course, that didn't go the way he expected. Robin thought he was confessing love and decided to beat him to the punch. That's how he learned Robin is a lesbian, and Steve couldn't let her be the only one admitting to something like that, so he told her about being bi and his long-standing, hopeless crush. And being deaf. But the bi with a crush thing seemed more important in the moment. She took it in stride, it brought them closer, and then Robin asked if Steve could teach her sign language.
Which meant that Steve had to learn sign language because he never had. Between not wanting to feel even more different than he already did and trying to convince his parents that, really, everything was fine and he didn't need to go to a special school for deaf and hard-of-hearing kids, he'd never learned. Learning it had somehow felt like an admission of weakness, and that was the last thing he wanted. But he learned for Robin, and they stumbled through sign language together, creating new signs only they knew.
But that's all in the past now, and Steve is working his ass off at Family Video to afford a new pair because he refuses to ask his parents for money. If he asks them, they'll come back, and that's the last thing he wants. They don't need to have all their worries confirmed that Steve is helpless, and he doesn't want them anywhere near Hawkins "Hellscape" Indiana.
So. Working his ass off, taking extra shifts, and babysitting the kids as much as he can to make up for the whole Friends and Family Discount he gives their parents. He's exhausted, but he gets to recharge somewhat during his lunch break.
About a ten-minute walk from the Family Video is a record store, which Steve has started visiting daily to just breathe. The lone worker in the store is usually too busy listening to her own music to pay Steve any attention, letting him wander and try to determine which records will best serve him.
Steve drifts over to the rock and heavy metal section, hoping to find a new album but unsurprised when he doesn't. He browses through them anyway, moving past Metallica and Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. He already has all of these albums on his shelf at home. He has the cassette tapes for them, too.
But he really wants something new. He likes the novelty of experiencing unfamiliar vibrations through the speaker, letting them thrum through his fingertips and into his bones. It's fun and relaxing, and after all the bullshit he's been through lately, he probably deserves something relaxing.
After glancing over a few more familiar albums, Steve sighs and glances at the counter by the door. The lone worker is standing there, headphones over her ears, and idly flipping through a magazine. She's chewing gum, and Steve braces himself for the sheer hell of trying to read her lips without making it obvious he's reading her lips while she's got something in her mouth to disrupt the normal shape of words and sounds.
But he has to try. Steve takes one more deep breath before walking over, shoving his hands into his pockets when he comes to a stop at the counter. The girl raises a hand, motioning for him to wait, so he stays quiet as she finishes reading her page. She flips to the next one before looking up, not making any move to pull her headphones off.
"Hi. Do you have any new rock or metal albums coming in soon," Steve asks, feeling the vibrations of speech in his throat and hoping his words aren't too loud.
They don't seem to be. The girl doesn't flinch or pull back. She just looks him up and down, taking in the polo shirt and the nice khakis and the Family Video vest he forgot to take off before leaving. Finally, her neck and shoulders jerk slightly, and Steve knows she's huffed in annoyance. "No," she says, the word clear enough in the shape of her lips for Steve to know it immediately.
He frowns slightly, his fingernails digging into his palms. Steve wouldn't mind just leaving now, but something keeps him there. He just...he really wants new music. He needs something new. "Are there gonna be any shows nearby?" he asks.
The girl rolls her eyes and says something, her mouth distorted by gum-chewing. Steve can barely make out the words "you" and "check" from her response. Thankfully, it's accompanied by a vague gesture at something behind him. Steve looks over his shoulder to see a bulletin board with flyers plastered across it.
"Right. Thanks," he says, nodding to her before walking over. The flyers are all different colors with various fonts that scream for Steve's attention. Some of them are for bands, some are advertisements of garage sales or instruments in need of a new home, and others are just business flyers from stores nearby.
He's seen the bulletin board before, but he's never actually paid attention to it. Steve has always been laser-focused on browsing the records. But now, Steve carefully reviews each flyer advertising shows. Some are for comedy shows, which he immediately dismisses. One seems promising, but then he sees how far it is, and Steve definitely can't do an overnight trip like that.
Finally, Steve sees a flyer advertising a show at the Hideout later that week. It's close enough that he won't be out overnight. The place is kind of seedy, but Steve figures he can find some corner near the stage to hide. Or he can bring Robin and let her help him navigate any potential social situations. He tugs the flyer off the board, gaze lingering on the "Corroded Coffin" emblazoned across the top.
He knows the band. Of course, he knows the band. He's extremely familiar with their singer. From a distance. Honestly, Eddie Munson probably doesn't have the best impression of him, but Steve's heart never really cared about that. Because Eddie is like everything Steve wants to be: he's loud and unafraid of being so, he doesn't care about his image and how others perceive him, and he looks like his laugh sounds beautiful. Steve wouldn't know if he's actually right about that last point, but Eddie throws his head back when he laughs, eyes crinkled and hand over his stomach like his muscles ache.
His mouth suddenly feels dry, but he's also filled with unprecedented courage. Steve has graduated (barely), and that means a significantly lower chance of running into Eddie during the day if watching the show somehow goes wrong.
Steve folds the flyer into quarters and stuffs it into his back pocket. He'll be overly aware of it being there until Robin starts her shift and he can show it to her, but that's okay. He throws a quick thanks over his shoulder as he leaves the shop, glancing up at the bell he can't hear that signals the door's opening. He vaguely remembers what bells are supposed to sound like (he'd heard a few before losing the ability to hear them), but he doesn't let himself dwell on it.
Instead, he focuses on the trip back to Family Video, keeping an eye on the road to watch for any cars he wouldn't notice otherwise.
----
When the final bell rings, Eddie Munson can't get out of class fast enough. He'd been packed for the last five minutes, and he slid out of his seat the moment that first peal rang out. He has a gig to prepare for, and every second counts. At least, each second counts until he notices something (or someone) that could prove entertaining for a while.
He spots Dustin alone near one of the exits, and Eddie decides to relieve the kid of his isolation. He waits until he's behind Dustin to shout, "Henderson!" and throw his arm over the kid's shoulders, ignoring the way he jumps like he'd been expecting an attack.
"Holy shit!" Dustin shrieks, jerking back to look up at Eddie. "Don't do that, man, you're gonna give me a heart attack."
Eddie snorts, waving away Dustin's concern as he continues toward the exit. The general flow of students trying to get out helps him along, and Dustin doesn't seem to realize they're actually moving until they've gotten into direct sunlight. "You're fine," Eddie says, "Anyway, whatcha doing all alone, Henderson? Lose your way?"
"No, I have...stuff to do today," Dustin says, shrugging as he blinks to acclimate to the sunlight.
Oh, yeah, way too cryptic for Eddie to not dig for more. "Stuff? What kinda stuff? Got a hot date? Going shopping with your mom?" he asks, and then he gasps dramatically and moves to stand in Dustin's way. He puts both hands on his shoulders and very seriously says, "Be honest, Henderson, you're seeing another DM, aren't you?"
Dustin stares at him for a few seconds before rolling his eyes and shrugging his hands off. "Who else in this town DMs?" he asks, "Other than Will, I guess, but he's still working on a campaign."
"Fair," Eddie concedes, "so, whatcha really doing?"
After a few seconds of getting nudged by the students around them, Dustin sighs and says, "I have chores, okay? But that doesn't sound cool to say, does it?"
Fair. Eddie nods in agreement and moves out of Dustin's way, continuing to follow him. "So, what, your mom picking you up today?" he asks.
"No, Steve."
"Oh, the famous Steve."
Dustin nods, looking over the parking lot before pointing to one end. "Yeah, he's awesome," Dustin says as Eddie follows the direction of his finger.
And standing there, leaning against the hood of his car and looking to the side where a group of trees is swaying in the breeze, is Steve Harrington. Steve "The Hair" Harrington. King Steve. The worst thing, Eddie thinks, is that Steve looks good. His hair is still perfect, of course, and his stupid little striped shirt is pulling against his biceps and riding up just enough for Eddie to see a tiny sliver of tanned skin above his jeans. He looks a little tense, but Eddie chalks that up to him being back on the campus after already graduating.
"Harrington? You've been talking about Steve Harrington this whole time?" Eddie asks, his voice a little strained, "How the fuck do you know Steve Harrington?"
"He's my babysitter," Dustin says, his voice implying that much should have been obvious, but Eddie wants to grab his shoulders and shake until his head rolls off.
Steve Harrington doesn't babysit. He doesn't know nerds that talk about D&D. He doesn't drive nerds around. At least, he never did in high school. Granted, Eddie never actually talked to Steve, but everybody knew that Steve Harrington was too cool for, well, anything that wasn't the typical jock and popular guy shit.
As he's thinking about the last time he saw Steve Harrington (in the halls, while the guy had bruises and looked worse for wear), they get within shouting distance. And Eddie has zero impulse control when Wayne isn't around, so he doesn't think before shouting, "Hey, Harrington!"
Next to him, Dustin whips his head to glare at Eddie. And Steve Harrington doesn't fucking react. He just keeps staring at that group of trees like it's the most fascinating thing in the world. "Dude," Dustin says, grabbing Eddie's arm and yanking harshly, "don't shout like that."
Eddie frowns, anger beginning to simmer in his stomach at the complete lack of acknowledgment. "Why are you upset with me?" he asks, gesturing at Steve as he continues, "I'm not the one being a douchebag here."
Dustin opens his mouth, about to say something, only to snap it shut once more. He frowns like he's just realized he can't say something, and huffs with frustration. "Just...just don't do that," he finally says, keeping a hand on Eddie's arm and dragging him across the parking lot. And, yeah, something is definitely weird here.
Instead of just walking up to Steve, they make a large arch until they're within Steve's line of sight.
Eddie watches as Steve notices them, seeing Dustin first and pushing off the car. He relaxes for a split second until he sees Eddie and his shoulders tense again.
Great.
Once they're close enough for Eddie to count the moles above the collar of Steve's shirt, Dustin grins and says, "Hey, Steve." But it's odd, because Eddie has never heard Dustin talk this slow or this carefully, like he's doing his best to enunciate his words.
Steve flashes a grin and ruffles Dustin's hair. "Hey, twerp, you're late," he says. He then glances at Eddie, his grin becoming a little smaller, and says, "Hey, Munson."
Wait. Steve Harrington knows Eddie's name? And he called him by it? He said Munson, not Freak. Eddie stares at Steve for a few seconds before nodding. "Harrington," he says, "how the fuck did you become a babysitter?"
Is he just imagining things, or is Steve looking at his mouth? Like, really intensely. He's definitely not, because Steve looks up after a few seconds with a raised eyebrow. "I needed some extra cash. Also, don't swear around Dustin. I'm the one who gets in trouble when he curses in front of his mom."
Something about the words makes Eddie grin. Never in a million years would he have guessed that he'd be talking to Steve Harrington. And he would have laughed you into Mordor itself if you suggested their conversation would be about Dustin Henderson swearing in front of his mother. "What's his mom do when he swears?" he asks.
Because he can feel the conversation veering into something potentially embarrassing for him, Dustin lets go of Eddie and starts pushing Steve toward the driver's side of his car. "Okay, we gotta go. So many chores, so little time," he says, his voice back to that normal speed and enunciation.
Steve frowns slightly, looking down at Dustin and tilting his head just slightly. "What?" he asks. Instead of actually answering, Dustin just makes some vague gesture with his hand and looks at the car. "Oh, right. Go ahead and get in the car. And, uh, see you later, Munson."
"Is that a promise?" Eddie asks before he can think better of it.
Steve pauses, looking at Eddie's mouth with a slight scrunch to his nose. He seems to be considering something as Dustin scrambles into the passenger seat, watching them with narrowed eyes. Honestly, Eddie is surprised he's not blasting the horn to hurry Steve up. Finally, Steve comes to a decision and meets Eddie's eyes again. "Your band has a show tonight, right? At the Hideout? I was planning to go. So, yeah, I'll see you then, I guess."
And with that, like he hasn't just fucking rocked Eddie's world, Steve Harrington gets into his car. He makes sure Dustin is buckled before waving at Eddie and pulling out of the parking spot.
Eddie finds himself waving back, staring dumbly at the car as it pulls onto the street. It only hits him a few seconds later that Steve Harrington is coming to his show. At the Hideout. His metal show. A Corroded Coffin gig at the Hideout.
Holy. Shit.

. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ yang jungwon 양정원 ✩ warnings: blood
jungwon stepped out of the kitchen for just a moment. upon returning from work, he promptly agreed to assist you with dinner. however, as he realised he needed to change, a loud crash of breaking glass and your startled exclamation drew him out of the bedroom, still in the process of putting on his shirt. he managed to finish dressing before entering the kitchen, but as he stood in the doorway, you stopped him.
“wonnie, wait! there’s glass everywhere,” you warned him but your calls didn’t seem to stop him from getting closer to you. he easily manoeuvred his way through the shards, reaching out to touch your hands.
“god, y/nnie.. what happened?” he asked. the pain was unbearable, yet you managed to endure it. when jungwon touched the inner part of your hand, you couldn't help but hiss.
he recoiled quickly, hands in the air. "i was trying to reach for this cup, didn't realise the other one was in front of it. i just didn't see it," you explained, and he listened. "i tried to catch it, but i didn't make it in time, and the glass cut me."
once again, your boyfriend held you, this time by your wrist, guiding you toward the sink. he turned on the water and, before placing your hands under it, checked the temperature.
as the blood washed away, he hummed. "thank goodness there are no deep cuts or glass pieces stuck. you need to be more careful, love."
jungwon instructed you to wash your hands slowly with soap while he cleared the glass on the floor and fetched the first aid kit from your bathroom. returning, he turned off the water, prompting you to sit on a chair. crouching in front of you, slowly and gently bandaging your wounds.
you observed how his hands moved cautiously around yours, as if afraid of causing more harm. it was as if you were so delicate that the slightest touch might break your skin. unconsciously, a smile formed on your lips.
"thank you, jungwonnie. you're the best," your whisper made him look up. his eyes seemed to brighten as they met yours—the smile that healed not only your heart but also every wound.
"be careful next time. i may not be the tallest, but it's better if you call me when you need help, okay, honey?" he advised, unaware of how much this seemingly small gesture meant to you.
. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ kim sunoo 김선우 ✩
"should we order something?" sunoo inquired as you both relaxed on a saturday afternoon. you shifted your gaze from your phone to his face and shook your head.
"honestly, i'm craving ramen. we can just make that," you replied. with your answer, your boyfriend nodded, removing his arm from around your waist. he stood up, and you quickly followed him to the kitchen.
while sunoo opened the door, your eyes remained glued to your phone screen, as you were finishing reading an article that was praising enhypen’s new album. you and sunoo were always very supporting of each other, but with more and more months of being together, you had become the biggest fan of sunoo's stage character. this passion led you to create a twitter account, where you shared your thoughts on new songs, posted pictures, and simply gushed about how sweet sunoo was.
lost in the article, you accidentally banged your knee on the half-open door and your first response was to bend down and grab the hurting spot with your free hand, but misjudging the distance, you also ended up hitting your head. sunoo turned back, puzzled, at the loud noises. yelping in pain, you straightened up and looked at your amused boyfriend.
"what did you do?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips
"i don't want to talk about this," you protested, placing a hand on your throbbing forehead.
he then laughed, pulling you into a hug. his hand resting on your head, pressing you to his chest. he kept laughing at your clumsiness while you tried to free yourself from the tight grip. “it’s not funny!” you said, voice muffled.
"well, it is for me," he chuckled, his hand gently caressing your head, causing you to slowly melt in his arms. "how much does it hurt?" he asked as he pulled away, planting a kiss on your red forehead.
"a lot," you admitted, and as sunoo kissed your forehead again, you blushed. “thank you,” you whispered, feeling warmth spreading to your cheeks.
"be careful, please," he insisted, his lips moving from your forehead to your cheek.
“can we forget about this and just make ramen?” you suggested and he moved away with a smile on his face, now turning to the kitchen counters.
"i can make the ramen; you sit and rest. i don't want you to hurt yourself again, bubba," sunoo insisted, and you obeyed, enjoying watching him move around the kitchen with ease.
. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ nishimura riki 西村 力 ✩ warnings: bruises, niki being annoying but cute
“y/n we’re going to be late!” niki's voice echoed from downstairs. the boy decided to take you out on a proper date this time. while your usual dates were casual, niki wanted to treat you to a nice restaurant, as he wanted to make it special.
not that you were complaining. you enjoyed every date niki planned; his ideas were usually very cute and just comfortable. full of laughter, fun and pure love. but when he insisted on calling this one a "real date," it unexpectedly brought on a wave of anxiety, despite you and niki being together for a long time.
"y/n!" he called again, and you knew you had to head downstairs before niki could get mad, which rarely happens. you left the bedroom, dressed in an unexpectedly elegant outfit – a departure from your usual attire for outings with your boyfriend. it was also the first time you'd see niki dressed similarly.
the shoes you wore added height, and as you hurried downstairs, you realized you weren't accustomed to walking in them. (since it’s gender neutral, you can either imagine platforms or heels, the choice is all yours) as you ran downstairs, your heel missed a step, causing you to tumble down the staircase. unfortunately, you were almost at the top of staircase. niki watched, frozen in place, as you went down, the fall seeming to stretch on forever.
it was happening so fast, you couldn’t even grab the railing, only a few seconds after, trying to slow down by using your hands. finally stopping on the last step, tears welled up in your eyes, the pain being unbearable. niki chuckled initially, but concern quickly replaced his laughter. "baby, are you okay?" he rushed over.
"do i look okay, nishimura?" you retorted, attempting anger that your wobbly voice betrayed.
"it's okay, y/nnie. grab my hands, please. i'll help you, okay?" niki could read you well, understanding you needed him right now. "oh, you big baby, stop being grumpy and let me help you," he added when you hesitated.
with a heavy sigh, you took his hands. "you were supposed to be my knight in shining armor and catch me in time," you huffed.
he only shook his head and guided you to the couch so you could sit down. your hip was hurting so much, it was impossible to walk correctly, so you slightly limped. niki quickly noticed, grabbing your waist and using more of his strength to help you.
when you sat down, another heavy sigh left your lips. niki, uncertain of his role in taking care of you, stood there, unsure. usually you were the responsible one, taking care of him when he’s hurting. the roles were never reversed, so he was just lost.
"can i see?" he finally asked, eyes on your hip. "we need to check the damage after your close encounter with our stairs," he said, earning an eye roll from you. after a moment, you nodded.
when niki uncovered your bare skin, he gasped. "baby, this is insane. it's not even on your hip; it's all over the side of your thigh," he said, making you look over. for some reason the boy reached out to touch it and the fear of him touching it was enough to make you scream.
“are you insane?” you squeaked, moving away from niki.
“y/n, do you think me, your amazing boyfriend would ever hurt you?” he asked and you gave him a serious look. “okay, back then i hit you with the ball by accident.”
"you literally yelled, 'y/n, catch this,' and then decided to throw the ball with your full strength." his silence spoke volumes. "go grab ice from the freezer, wrap it with a thin towel, go to the bathroom, and grab the ointment and bandages. my hands are all cut up," you instructed, and he hurried to comply.
it took him a while, maybe if he remembered everything it would be easier. but finally he returned with everything. he tried to gently put the ice pack against your skin, but well.. niki wasn’t the best at taking care of bruises like that.
“oh my god, niki. i will kill you,” you said, when the pain doubled after he not so slowly and not so gently touched your bruise with hard and cold ice.
"i'm sorry, i'm sorry," he quickly apologized. "here, call the restaurant and tell them we won't make it," he said, passing his phone to you, contact to the restaurant displayed on screen.
“but, niki, you really wanted to go–”
“are you insane?” he repeated your previous words, “we're not going, not when you're hurting like that. we can go another time; you're more important than good food.”
“you're the best—DON’T POKE IT, ARE YOU STUPID—”

Chap 2
______________________________________________________________
"What the fuck?" Y/N screamed inside her hotel room when she woke up "I didn't even went home with her, I... I went home with... I don't know what the fuck?" Y/N added clutching her head that's aching. Her publicist enters and said "That's what you get for trashing one of the paparazzi... But he deserve it anyway." Emilia gave the medicine to Y/N and added "Well, going home with Jenna is a much better headline than you assaulting a paps, right?" with a smirk on her face waiting for Y/N's reaction.
Y/N's eye widen with what Emilia said and replied "Hell no, the both of them aren't good for me, they need to be taken down, or like tell the media that I'm with some dude" finding her phone and trying to search a man in her contacts. With a disgusted look earned from her publicist, Emilia said "You would rather be linked with a man?"
Y/N gave Emilia a look that says "I would rather not be involved with anyone." With a smile, Emilia said "There's nothing we can do about it, even if we try to pay the media, we cannot pay the people in the internet, we're gonna be broke" and chuckled.
Y/N was lost with what Emilia said, "What do you mean by that?" Emilia replied "Well, you and Jenna are trending since yesterday up until..." and fished her phone up, opened her twitter and shows Y/N the top trending worldwide "now. Wow, the both of you are still trending."
"Fuck, this can't be, I'm gonna release an album in the next few months." Y/N said trying to pace around the room "Okay, then it's gonna be a good publicity for you" Emilia said that made Y/N stop in her tracks and looked at Emilia "No, it will not be a good publicity. I don't want my songs to be incorporated to that girl."
Emilia gave Y/N a questioning look "Who's 'that girl'?" with a teasing tone and Y/N replied "You know who Emilia..." and Emilia still continues to act clueless. "Jenna Ortega, of course" Y/N said and rolled her eyes.
"As your publicist, I don't see any problem with that. She has a good reputation, no bad issues, and her career is thriving" Emilia stated facts as Y/N tries not to listen because she knows that Emilia is right "Why are you even mad about the issue?" Emilia teased Y/N.
With a heavy sigh, Y/N walks to the bathroom and yells "YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHY EMILIA" and slams the door.
As Y/N was trying to rinse her face hoping her headache will be passed through the water that damps her face, she can't still believe that people will push the her and Jenna together.
On the other side of New York City, Jenna was staring at the wall of her hotel room while chewing her lower lip trying to think how can she get out of this mess.
"Are you okay? What's the matter?" Jenna's publicist asked her while she checks the news outlets and every social media. Jenna stays silent trying to think, until she blurted out "How about a PR Stunt?" She hates the idea of it, being in a fake relationship with someone that she really doesn't care about. "We can have a fake PR Stunt so that the rumors with that singer will stop, once and for all." Jenna suggested.
Wendy, her publicist looked at her and said "You don't need no PR Stunt with anyone, you're career is going well and you have no bad blood with anyone and we're not gonna start that now. She and her team aren't giving statements about it too, so let the rumors be rumors. Not if you want to prove them right, and that's the only thing that you will do if we release a statement and they still keep on seeing you two together." With an annoyed look, Jenna then answered "I just don't want to be linked with that woman, please." She pouted and looked at Wendy, trying to make her idea work.
"No, no stunts will be done and no statements will be released. This rumor is good for the both of you can't you see? The both of your careers are striving so well, her fans are supporting you and vice versa. The public sees you both as a good pair, so why not use Y/N as a stepping stone." Wendy said stating a good point that Jenna herself can't see a hole to poke in. Jenna hates it that Wendy is always right.
With a huff Jenna replied "Ugh, fine, but it will stay as rumors" and went to the bed and plop herself trying to gain more sleep.
---
Weeks after the said rumors have spread, both the singer and the actress went on the low since they didn't want to be seen together. Each of them kept on working privately for their own careers. Y/N doing some major to minor revisions for her album release in the next few months, while Jenna does some photoshoots and guesting in YouTube.
After the MET Gala in May, the both of them were thankful since they haven't seen each other in person. But surely, the rumors from their fans can't die as they sure did have a lot of photos and videos to talk about from the MET and those old photos of the both of them resurfacing from god knows where.
Y/N received a lot of incoming projects just like working for a song that will be played on a movie this coming December, she accepted the work, just for the fact that she will be writing a song; she just loves to write one, okay. Her agent would have explained for what movie it is, but Y/N just asked about how did the love story goes and then started to write one.
As for Jenna, September has been a chill month for her, a few fittings here and there for the Paris Fashion Week next month that she will attend and will be dresses in Dior. She spent her birthday with her family and closest friends. Trying to be more private and be less seen in public to not cause any disturbances in her life.
---
As September flew by with a bat of an eye, October has come with such a busy time for Y/N as she released her new album, every track has become a hit and has settled into the Top 10 songs of Billboard, her albums also sold millions and her songs are played in every radio station, which just means that Jenna, even if she doesn't want to, listened to songs that Y/N released.
Inside the car driving in the roads of Paris, Jenna was seated and a radio blasted a song...
She got the, mmm, brown eyes, caramel thighs
Long hair, no wedding ring, hey.
"EVEN IN PARIS?" Jenna exclaimed, she just arrived from her flight and she can't believe that Y/N is still haunting her. "What? It is a bop. Y/N, Camila, and Cardi did great with the song, you know..." Enrique teased her.
I saw you lookin' from across the way
And now I really wanna know your name
"Why would she even write a song like that?" Jenna tried to argue with Enrique, and her stylist just smiled and said "I mean, she just stated that she wants a woman with brown eyes, caramel thighs, long hair, is single, wears a white dress, and probably a Latina. You know I know someone with the same characteristics" Enrique ended with a teasing smile and a knowing look. "Fuck no" Jenna answered Enrique, trying not to barf herself out with that thought. Why would Y/N wrote a song about her.
She got the, mmm, white dress, but when she's wearin' less
Man, you know that she drives me crazy
"You did wore a white dress, you have brown eyes, hmm you had your hair long, you have beautiful thighs, you are Latina, and I'm pretty sure you're not married" Enrique pushed his luck trying to really into Jenna's nerve. "When did I wore a white dress? Huh?" Jenna tried to challenge Enrique, but as her stylist, of course he knows when did Jenna wore a white dress and answered "You remember that film interview with Melissa, that white dress from Zuhair Murad..." Jenna now remembers, and thought "Oh fucking shit, hell to the fucking no"
Enrique internally laughed at Jenna's reaction while Jenna pulled out her headphones, wore it and opened her phone, as she open her Spotify, she clicks the shuffle play to a playlist. Enrique smiled at what Jenna did, but in all honesty, even if Jenna hides it, Enrique can see that Jenna did enjoy Y/N's songs and even muttered lyrics of it, but only stopped when she noticed herself that she is singing her ex's songs.
In a hotel room in Paris Y/N exclaimed "WAIT, I'M ATTENDING DIOR? Am I not signed in another brand or something?" and Emilia just shrugged "No hun, you will go to Dior, you will meet big names there that will again boost your music and your status, so yes, Dior."
With a loud grunt Y/N started to pace around, which is a thing that she do when she tries to think of a way out for something that Emilia put her into. "Okay, please tell me that Jisoo will attend this show" Y/N says with her eyes closed and fingers crossed, Emilia just stared at her and answered her with a "Yes".
Just as Emilia thought, Y/N is a fan, and going to concert of Jisoo's group will be hard so this is a gift for Y/N and can also be a meeting place for new deals that Y/N needs to attract more people for her art and to gain more attention. But what Emilia didn't say is that Jenna will also be attending the Dior Fashion show. Even though Emilia knows about Jenna and Y/N's past, she can't let the rumor about the two die, since Y/N benefits a lot, she also knew that Jenna is benefiting by the fact that her publicist and her management is not releasing any statement, despite the allegations of Jenna dating Y/N and vice versa.
---
A large crowd has gathered, voices can be heard even from a mile away with how many people have gathered just to see the ladies and gents that Dior has invited.
Jenna with her black dress arrived, strutting down the big area that has been surrounded with people, waving and smiling to every people that calls her name. Walking inside the venue, she gets to meet a lot of people, from businessman, to artist, singers, and models.
A crowd has gathered in the middle of the room and she heard a voice coming from her publicist, "Okay, I don't know if you know her, but Jisoo is a global ambassador of Dior and she is in a group called Blackpink, go make friends." And with that, Jenna started to strut her way to a crowd of people and photographers, with her current status, of course people around her would know who she is, and without a doubt Jisoo and her are asked for a picture together.
On the other side of the venue, Y/N has been doing everything that she can just to meet Jisoo, but to no avail, she is stuck with old business man that has been eating her precious time, talking about old stuff that she really doesn't know. And in every French that will speak to her, she will just answer "oui" because who the fuck understands French? Not me, Y/N thinks.
But of course, the venue isn't as big as the USA or even Paris, so of course Y/N heard whispers that Jenna Ortega is also in the same vicinity as hers, but why would she believe something that she can't even see. Y/N thinks that if Jenna is really in the same place as hers, they would probably meet each other by now.
"You need to take your seat now, the show will start" She can hear Emilia's voice behind her and with a heavy heart, she decided to seat and hopes to meet JIsoo later.
Trying to get comfortable with her seat, a group of men started to walk her way and Y/N thinks "Who the fuck gets guarded like that on a fucking fashion show?" and when the men started to disperse, a lady wearing a high heel that is dressed in long black flowy skirt, a black see-through top, and a jacket with a long white jewelry hanging from her neck; Y/N's eyes travels upward and see's a terrified look on the other person's face.
Y/N's own face contorted with disgust, her fist clench on its own and when a curse word tries to get out of her mouth, a pinch to her side coming from Emilia broke her and said "Act nice." Wide eyed with a tight lipped smile greets the other person that is also trying to contain her emotions because...
"WHAT THE FUCK IS Y/N DOING IN HERE?"
Exactly, that was Jenna's thought when the body guards in front of her started to go to their post and give her her space and lead her to her seat. Her eyes widen, feeling that her blood suddenly is pushing upwards, feeling a little bit dizzy with how much her heart is pumping her blood from the anger that she feels from the inside. Her eyes suddenly moves to the side and looks at her publicist, jut like how her character Wednesday stare at people. Her publicist then whispered to her "Be good, now."
The both of them are now staring at each other, bewildered on how the fuck did they ended up seating next to each other on a Paris Fashion Week, knowing so damn well that there are hundreds of brand that's doing the same thing that they are doing right now.
With forced smiles and a toned down anger, Jenna seats beside Y/N, creating a big space between them that could accommodate another person if they wanted to. The two women, seating side-by-side, thinking of ways on how can they seat through the whole show without murdering each other or just to try to not cause a scene. Jenna did not brought enough patience for this show, if she only knew that Y/N will be here, then she would probably brought a lot of extra patience with her. As for the other girl, if Y/N would have known that Jenna would be here, she would've declined this offer immediately and just attend another show.
Without looking to her side Y/N whispers "what the fuck are you doing here?" Jenna trying not to look at Y/N has her ears ringing from anger with what she heard from the other woman and answered in a hushed tone "the fuck do you mean why am i here?" Y/N then turns her body towards Jenna and stated with a sassy tone "Why are you here? Are you trying to follow me?" This doesn't go unnoticed by Jenna "You're so full of yourself, I don't even know that you're in here you dumbass"
Before Y/N gets to speak, a photographer appeared and asked for a picture of them. With forced smiles, the two girls closed the gap between them and smiled brightly at the camera, acting like they weren't trying to slit each other's throat before he came in.
"Nice, another picture with you" Y/N said with a sarcastic tone, Jenna was trying to do some breathing exercise, praying that she wouldn't lose her cool because if things will just be on her way? She would've smacked Y/N right in the head with her purse. "Wow, who said I like being on one frame with you?" Jenna said with a tone full of disgust.
A cough from behind them ca be heard coming from both of their publicist, and they know so damn well how things will go if they continue to banter. So what they did was to be quiet, smile at the camera and the guests, and watch the fashion show unfold.
Half of the show have passed and Y/N wants to peel her ass from her seat, run to the nearest wall, and just smash her head. She can't stand another second of Jenna nodding at every model and hearing muttered words like how wonderful they are. Y/N moved over to Jenna and whispered "Don't act like you're interested, I know how much this things bore you." Jenna's hand travelled to Y/N's thigh and grips it, hard enough so that Y/N can feel Jenna's nails digging through the fabric of her dress "Shut up."
Y/N yelps and bites her lip to contain a surprised gasp that she just made, Y/N then lightly slaps Jenna's hand, "Don't you dare do that again, you're harassing me" Y/N said trying to threaten and Jenna gasped and pulls her hand away "I'm not harassing you!"
"Girls..." Emilia whispered from behind, with that, the two women sat quietly and tries to keep their hands from trying to pull each others hair. The scene that unfolded earlier where Y/N moved closer to Jenna wo whisper something and Jenna's hand on Y/N's thigh could tell a different story when you watch it from afar. That is why photographers tried to capture it, other guests also noticed the two being closer to each other.
While Y/N and Jenna watched the entire show quietly, both of their publicist seemed to arrived at a certain business deal that would greatly benefit the two stars that they are handling. But they know that this'll need more meetings and contract signings.
---
Dior Fashion show ended a few hours ago, Jenna was just chilling in the living room of her hotel trying to find a new movie to watch, but before she press play, her publicist messaged her that they need to have a dinner meeting to discuss future projects and this one is urgent. So what Jenna did was she got up and went to her dresser trying to find a semi-formal attire to wear and for her to somehow look decent.
In the lobby, there was Wendy, waiting for her with a bag on her hand and a cluster of paper on the other. "Sorry for the late notice, I just got this deal earlier" Wendy said trying to lead Jenna to the Hotel's Restaurant. While walking Jenna thought "Wait... why is my publicist making deals and not my manager?" And it made Jenna stop from walking and looked at Wende and asked "Does my manager know this so-called-deal?" and Wendy just answered "Of course, they're inside with the other party waiting for us" with a suspicious and eerie feeling, Jenna followed suit and walked towards the private room that Wendy entered.
A waiter opened the door on the other side and there was a big table with people who are seated and are talking, on the other side that faces her, she saw her manager, the other party which she guessed are facing their back to her. Wendy ushered Jenna to sit in the middle and while trying to look for the faces for the other party, Jenna feels like she knows the faces of these people. Starting from the right, analyzing her face, her hair, and the paper that is in front of her Jenna thought "Oh, probably she's the publicist" and when she moved from the so-called-publicist left, she sees a scowling face, eyebrows pushed together in the middle, lips are tight, and a rigid body posture, and Jenna thought "No fucking way" ready to run from where she is to the door, her arms were held down by Wendy and is trying to push her down to seat in front of none other than Y/N.
"What is this?" Jenna asked and Y/N "What do you think?" with a biting remark. The two of them holding a staring battle, trying to push each other's luck and trying to feel if the other one is gonna send them a punch or a slap. "Shut up, adults are talking" Jenna said with a smirk and Y/N answered "We are literally the same age, what are you talking about?" and before Y/N gets to add another remark Jenna cut her off and said "Oh yeah? Well the shut up, people who are mature enough gets to talk."
Y/N then stood up from her chair ready to pounce on Jenna when her manager hold her down and forced her to seat down and said "Calm down you two, we are not here to set you both to fight on a boxing ring in Vegas" and the other person in the room chuckles.
"Is this some kind of joke? What am I doing in here?" Y/N asked her manager and her publicist and Emilia answered her "Calm down first and we will explain, please girls." And Y/N tried to calm herself down staring at the wall.
Throughout the entire meeting, both of Y/N and Jenna's manager and their publicist explains how good it will be if the both of them will be in a public relationship. They explained that the media, the public, and their fans loved the two of them together, seeing how the rumor between the two of them isn't dying after months, how their status and fanbase got bigger, and how can this publicity attract more people to support the both of them.
"But I thought I'm gonna be okay without any public relationship?" Jenna said pertaining to what Wendy said and she answered "Well, it still is, but if you are in a relationship with Y/N everything will be better. It's gonna be a win-win situation for the both of us."
"I don't need this, I can do things on my own" Y/N said and her publicist explained "Yes, but it will be more better with a help you know" and that made Y/N furious "Okay, first of all I don't need her charity, I don't need anyone to boost my career. I am talented and that's what I'm gonna use." Then her manager butted in and said "Yes, we didn't mean it in that way Y/N and you know it. You're just gonna help each other out, be each other's stepping stone. When the contract finishes, there will be no bad blood and we will say that things just didn't work out because of schedule."
When Y/N's manager said that, both Y/N and Jenna looked at each other's eye, feeling like it did struck a nerve on the both of them, holding each other's stare for a second, the room went silent. Y/N then looked down at her lap after she caught Jenna stared at her, she plays with the end fabric of the table cloth. Jenna on the other and was just staring at Y/N, biting her lip, trying to say something but she can't eve formulate a word.
"Okay, I think we are done, we can continue this tomorrow, sounds like a plan?" Wendy said collecting the papers in front of her, the managers were standing up and trying to leave the room.
Y/N was still seating and looking down, Wendy and her manager knows so damn well that they need to leave Y/N alone when she went this silent. Jenna was also the same, still seating down in her seat, feeling like someone nailed her to where she is.
With a deep sigh, Y/N raised her eyes in front of her, where Jenna's eyes were awaiting. A lingering sense of familiarity can be felt in line with a feeling of deep longingness and hatred. The air was thick, both of them trying to read each other's mind. Y/N knows Jenna, she knows all of her, but not the one who is seating in front of her. On the other hand Jenna's waiting for Y/N to say something, because she knows Y/N so damn well, she knows her that well. Both of them feels like they were thrown back from where they were, contemplating and thinking on a restaurant.
Y/N and Jenna stared at each other for a second, Y/N's lips opened a few times, trying to say the words that runs through her mind, but failed after a few attempt. Jenna tries to calm her breathing because it seems like everything seems to fall on her shoulders, hitting her like a brick.
This wasn't what they imagined themselves after years of their break-up. They didn't imagine them seeing again, sitting on a restaurant, talking about their relationship. Everything that's happening brings ton of memories from the past that the both of them were trying to bury. So there they were, seated, facing each other, trying not to break down, and praying to whoever listens that this was just a joke, a prank, a dream, just not a reality that they need to face.

QUEENMAKER | CHAPTER 10
---
pairing chan x reader
genre ninth member au, enemies to lovers, angst, fluff, coming of age, social media, cancel culture, anxiety, depression, forbidden love,
summary To JYPE, the solution is simple; take the sole trainee that will not debut with your brand new girl group, and use her to replace the missing vocalist in your male group that insisted on starting as nine.
Unfortunately, to the fans and the members themselves, it isn't that simple.

The studio is silent when you enter, the door clicking softly shut behind you. Neither of its occupants stir, even though Chan had just called out for you to come in when you'd knocked; he's staring at his computer screen now, fingers hovering over a keyboard as he listens. Han is on the other side of the room, fast asleep on the sofa with him mouth hanging half-open.
A coffee cup sits in the ground next to him and his phone dangles from relaxed fingers, dangerously close to falling. You lean over and grab it just as it starts to slide from his grasp; Han doesn't stir, not even when your shadow falls over his face. You catch a glimpse of his phone screen before your thumb locks it, long lines of lyrics set out in a basic notes app, the top bar lined with notifications; you put it down hurriedly on the armrest of the sofa, not wanting to pry.
When you look up, Chan is watching you, an unreadable expression on his face.
"Hi," you say, turning your back on Han. Your hands are awkward after touching his phone - you fold them in front of you, one hand twisting at the fingers of the other.
"Hi," he replies softly, and smiles - something that's meant to be encouraging, you think, but this is so far out of your normal routine that you don't think there's anything that would let you just relax, rather than standing here awkwardly in the middle of the room with nothing else around to draw his attention.
"There's another chair over there," he says, pointing to the corner behind you. "Come and listen to this."
A clear goal. An easy one to achieve too - the breath rushes from your chest as you drag the chair over to his desk, some of the tension in your limbs draining out with it. You sigh again as you sit down, this time as your tired body presses back into the seat and finally finds relief - you've been engrossed in practise all day, sliding right past lunch and nearly dinner too, barely stopping for a break. Not that you'd meant to, you knew better than that, but when you'd felt like you were actually getting somewhere-
"You look tired," Chan comments as he hands you a set of headphones, one hand idly untangling the wire as it stretches out to you. His voice is decidedly neutral, his tongue lazy as it lets the English syllables slide past one by one. He talks to you in English almost all the time recently, you've noticed; ever since the album released, or maybe a little before. Not that you mind. English is...comfortable, in a way that Korean sometimes isn't. It's always been easier for you to be Australian.
"Practise was good today, though," you reply. "I feel like I might actually be able to dance in the group without sticking out now."
"You've been doing that for a while," Chan says, bemused. "Lee Know didn't have anything to say at all the other day."
You can't help the derisive snort that escapes your mouth, swallowing the acerbic laugh that tries to follow it before you can make even more of a fool of yourself. It's so rude; maybe you are tired. You certainly aren't as careful as you usually are, even though you know that can preclude trouble. "I don't think he's being as hard now that I'm not debuting in two weeks," you blurt out, and then drop your eyes down to the headphones in your hands.
"That doesn't mean he's lying," Chan insists. His hand pats your knee - just a brush of his fingers, there and there and gone again. "You don't really need all this practise anymore, you know."
A shrug works its way up to your shoulders, though it feels more like a defensive hunch than anything else. "I'd rather practise than waste my time sitting around," you answer, and at least the words are strong, even if your body is not. "Especially when there's still a chance I could end up sitting around in Australia by the end of the year."
Something flashes across Chan's face, twisting at the edges of his mouth for just a moment before disappearing - disappointment, or frustration? It twists at your gut twice as hard, whatever it is, upsetting the delicate balance you'd found for just a moment while sitting here. "Do you want to listen to this song?" he asks, changing the subject before you can say anything to defend yourself. "We recorded it roughly, but I need a real version of it, and I think you'll like it..."
His voice trails off as he turns to the computer, pulling up whatever he's been working on. You take that as a sign to pull the headphones over your ears, offsetting one side slightly so that you can still hear him. Music fills your ears - a slow, roundabout beat and a heavy bass, overstrung by lyrics about bravery and fear and the darkness of being alone. Beautiful, in a way you're not sure how to express, and artistic, winding its way into your chest where you won't easily forget it.
You really like this song, so much that you're almost afraid to admit it; because if you did, you'd have to admit too, how its spiralling beat brushes against that dark spiral of anxiety that always lives in your chest, and the cold memories that the words stir up-
"I like that," is all you say when the music ends, one final downbeat cutting through the instruments abruptly.
"Really?" Chan asks, like it's unexpected, or unbelieveable.
"Of course," you insist, headphones sliding down around your neck. "You really want me to sing that?"
"Well, if you're going to spend all of your time working anyway, you might as well do some of our work for us," he says, the tone of his voice and the way his head tilts to point at Han's sleeping form informing you that he is joking. "Listen to it a couple more times, I'll see if Han has the lyrics written down on his phone, and then we'll try it."

"Why wouldn't you be able to sleep?"
Chan's voice startles you, loud after a long period of silence. You hadn't even seen him turn to look at you, or even stop working to check the messages that are popping up in the group chat, his phone propped loosely between his hand and the table. "What?" you ask, one hand coming up to stifle a yawn as it tugs at your jaw.
Chan glances down at his phone screen as another message pops up, and then back at you. "Earlier, you said you wouldn't be able to sleep if you went home," he says, by way of explanation.
"Oh, right." You'd forgotten about that text. You hadn't really thought about it being something that might raise questions at the time; you'd been more focused on the sudden worry you'd had over him assuming that you were regularly here all day and all night. "My house is just too quiet sometimes, I guess. I'm not really used to living alone."
His head tilts, curiousity flaring in his eyes. "You know, I've never actually asked where you live," he says. "Are you still in the dorms?"
"They gave me an apartment," you answer. "I think we're in the same building, actually. That's what they told me, anyway."
"Really?" His eyebrows shoot upwards in surprise. "And you've never come over for dinner? Changbin hasn't dragged you to the gym? No one's run into you in the hall?"
"Lee Know sat in my living room for like ten minutes once?" you offer weakly, though you know it's not nearly what he's looking for. You've got nothing to offer him - even Minseo hasn't been over in a few weeks, each of you too busy on your own trajectory to cross paths. You'd had lunch in the cafeteria twice, and that was all, far from the silent walls of your empty house and it's too-big rooms.
A smile ghosts across Chan's face, strangled by the constant turn of his thoughts back to the problem he thinks he has identified. "On his way back from the store?" he questions knowingly, and you nod.
"He said no one was home at your place."
"If he went into our house, why did he-" he starts, and then cuts himself off halfway, shaking his head. "You should come over for dinner or something. Watch one of Han's animes. If I'd known you were in the building, I would have invited you ages ago."
Apprehension rises in your chest at the openness of the invitation, the way he's able to simply pick it up and throw it out there without even a moment of hesitation. Not that you should feel dread over something as simple as an invitation to dinner, with a group of people you now see every day anyway...but you've never really seen them outside the studio, and you wouldn't know what to expect even if you sat here and tried to guess.
And even this, sitting here in the dark talking to Chan, is something you've never done before, the reason why you'd sat here so quiet when you'd first come in; if your body wasn't so tired, if the night wasn't dragging on into morning as you spoke, you don't think you'd have been able to sit so still in this chair at all.
"Maybe," you say, acknowledging the invitation with a dip of your chin. "When there's time. I'm really busy practising for debut right now, and I don't want to miss anything."
You're surprised by the look that passes over his face, the tightening of his mouth and the corners of his eyes. "You spend a lot of time in that studio," he says - and you're not sure what to think about the tone of voice that he uses, switching back and forth between stern and...soft, like he's worried he'll say the wrong thing or something. As if he could do something wrong here, when he is the leader and you are-
Well, nothing. You're nothing. God knows what he sees when he looks at you, other than the trainee he was unwillingly saddled with.
"Yeah," you acknowledge, because there's no use in denying it when you know they know the kind of hours you've been pulling. There being eight of them just means it's impossible to avoid running into one of them at every strange hour of the day. "If these are the last three months I have here, I don't want to waste any of it."
"You said that at the concert," Chan recalls. "You still feel like you're not going to debut?"
The memory sits awkwardly in the air of the room; you shift in your seat, shrugging as lightly as you can pull down the movement of your shoulders, trying to play it off. "Do you still think I'm scared of you too?" you question, trying to play it off easily rather than having the words slide heavy from your tongue.
Amusement dances in his eyes. "Maybe not so much," he answers. "You made a joke earlier."
You frown. "Is that...weird? I make jokes all the time, don't I?"
"Not as often as I'd like," he says, and then his face softens. "It was nice, though. So is this - us, talking."
"Mm," you hum, your mouth closed around several sentences that spring immediately to mind. The instinct to measure everything you say and watch your mouth is burnt into you, caution wrapping its cold little hands around your throat every time you start to relax. And now you don't know what to say, when it feels too pointed to make a joke after he's just pointed it out, and too crass to pull out excuses for why this sort of one-on-one rarely happens - and then silence stretches too thin, and time ticks too far onwards, and you've missed-
"Can I tell you what I think?" Chan says and leans back, his arms reaching towards the ceiling as he stretches.
A breath hitches in your chest, apprehension freezing it still. "Okay," you say, your hands twisting together.
His gaze is steady when it returns to you, his hand still where it comes to lie flat on the surface of his desk. In the background, Han shifts in his sleep, the couch cushions shifting underneath him. "I think you're scared to be one of us," he says, every word carefully measured against some weight you cannot see. "And you're scared to trust us. Maybe just me, specifically."
Your heart leaps into your throat in surprise, tears pricking at the back of your eyes. "I'm not-" you begin, but his hand lifts in the air, stopping you short.
"I don't mean in a bad way," he hurries to add, before you can go on. "I understand why; I wouldn't trust anyone either after what happened to you with Midnight. And I've been there before, you know, so...so I know why, I promise. But...I wish you would let me help you. I really want to help you."
You swallow hard, but the lump in your throat remains, the tears threatening to gather in the corners of your stinging eyes. Your stomach feels like its been turned upside down, your equilibrium shaken and turned around. "I..." you begin, as if you have a response, but nothing follows it, your mind racing to catch up in a conversation you hadn't expected to have and didn't plan for. "I...this is my last chance. If I stop, if I..."
"Hey," Chan says. "I understand, okay? And I'm not going to kick you out, or yell at you, or whatever it is you think a leader does. I like having you around, it's too late for all of that now, okay?"
The joke is light, struggling to lift itself in the oppressive air of the studio, but it makes its way to you anyway, lifting a little of the weight off of your shoulders. "I really like your music," you tell him, and push a deep breath down into the bottom of your lungs. "I want to be one of you, really, and I don't - I don't think you would do that, I swear, I just...I know that it's not always up to you. The company can do what they like, and if they think I don't look like I fit in, or I'm not working as hard as you do, or they just don't like how-"
"You shouldn't worry about that," Chan says over the top of you, his face changing. "That's my job - you leave that to me, and focus on the things your working on."
You look down at your hands, then over at Han - anywhere but his gaze, when you say, "I can't trust them to listen to you. Not until I make it to debut."
Chan falls silent, long enough that your eyes stray back to him, unable to look away for any longer. You find a mess of emotions written across his face, lit by the illumination of his computer screen as he messes with the mouse, his attention far away from the track he's idly playing with.
"Okay," he says when he's done, forcing his hand to move away from the keyboard. "I meant to talk you out of burning yourself out, but I don't think that's going to work."
"Sorry," you say mutely, and feel your shoulders hunch.
"It's okay," he says, before you can retract into yourself completely. "It's okay to be scared. It is scary. So, let's come to an agreement."
There's an unintended challenge in his voice, a way that his eyes watch you that incentivises you to sit up straighter and swallow down all that cold anxiety that freezes in your veins. "Okay," you say willingly. "Like what?"
You like the silent approval you see in his face, the way his mouth relaxes and starts to untwist from the frown it had turned itself into several minutes ago. "You promise me that you know how to take care of yourself, and you can practise as much as you feel like you need to until debut and we won't stop you," he says, "but after debut, you promise you're going to slow down. And you're going to trust me."
It's funny - you hadn't thought anything but the result at the end of these three months would make you feel better, but somehow, he strings together the exact right words to lift that weight off your chest and shine a light down the tunnel. You hadn't thought anyone would be able to do that. Maybe that's why you'd been locked away in the dance rooms, all alone; maybe he was right that you didn't trust anyone, and that maybe you should start.
"I can do that," you say, nodding in agreement. "And I can take care of myself. I won't debut if I'm injured, or I collapse or something."
"Good," he says, satisfied, and then adds, "And you come over for dinner, whenever we invite you. And you go out with your friends again. One of the girls from Midnight chased me down the other day to ask about you, and honestly I'm kind of scared of ignoring her."
"Minseo," you say and, inexplicably, you smile. "Sorry. She's...an extrovert."
"Two jokes," Chan points out, and then laughs at the look on your face, turning away to shut down his computer. "It was fine. She was cool. You have good taste in friends."
"We've been here together for a long time," you say, your eyes idly tracking the movement of his mouse. You glance at the clock in the corner of his screen just by chance - and then do a double take when you see the number there, squinting as if you've misread it. "Is it four AM?"
"It is, actually," Chan sighs as the screen goes dark, closing the laptop and pushing his chair back towards the couch. "Time to go home, I think. Do you want to walk with us?"
His hand reaches out to rouse Han, the other reaching for the boy's phone, left abandoned on his desk. His coffee still sits abandoned on the ground, long gone cold since that first conversation in the group chat that had led to all of this. Funny, how that one little thing, left forgotten on the floor, had led to a night you wouldn't soon forget.
"I'd love to," you reply, and reach for the coffee before anyone can knock it over, throwing it in the trash.

Dubble Life (ACTSV x reader x Batfam) 4
Summary: Reader made a promise to never let Spider-Woman out. Knowing the dangers of putting that mask on. Reader is starting off fresh now, and they will be damned if anyone tries to have you pull that mask down your face again.
Part 3 Part 5
TW: break downs, mentions of past trauma, mentions of mental health
"Just listen to me!" Gwen was following you as you were still franticly searching for Damian.
"Bug off Gwen. Don't need the society's shit right now." You spoke harshly. Gwen sighed as she watched your stressed expression switch between worry and frustration.
Gwen stopped and spoke. "I know your probably still hurting. But New York needs Spider Woman. Your uncle and Miles can't hold Brooklyn down forever." You paused and turned your head to the blonde.
"More anomalies are showing up. The Prowlers aren't fit to control them. If this keeps up, who knows what will happen." Gwen was staring at you with those big blue eyes of her's.
You always used to like looking into Gwen's eyes. Her eyes always held this kind of sadness in them, sadness you and her connected with. But no, you see no connection. At least not the same as before.
". . .I'm sorry Gwendy. But I don't have time for this."
You made sure the coast was clear before shooting a web to a nearby building and land in an alleyway.
After nearly two hours of searching for Damian and nearly having a break down. Alfred was able to find you and inform you that Damian was safe and was currently with Bruce. Damian had wanted to stay with Bruce. And you decided to go back to the manor.
"Don't do that again Damian. You can't just leave your sister like that." Bruce scolded his son for making you worry. Knowing you must have been freaking out with the way he had disappeared. Damian sighed.
"If she's cross with me, then I'll tell her I went back for this." Damian lifted up an album. Bruce frowns in confusion. Because how the hell is a Boney M album going to calm you down?
"Lady Y/n. Is there anything you need before-"
"No Alfred! I just need some rest; I'll be in my room." You rushed up the stairs. And slammed your room door.
You finally took a seat on your bed. A second passed, and your breathing started to pick up, a minute passed, and your eyes began to sting from the incoming tears that seem to build up until your eyes couldn't hold them any longer, letting the tear drops fall.
It wasn't long till you became a sobbing mess.
it was too much. Emotions you didn't know were still in you started to burst out of control. You were a crying mess.
Why?
Were you stressed?
Or is it that you miss your family back in New York?
Were you upset seeing Gwen? Was seeing her bring back memories that you didn't want to see? Memories of people you don't want to remember?
No. . . that's not it, is it.
It was what happened with Damian. How he let your hand go, and just disappeared. It's funny, you don't really like the boy. Well, his attuited is what you distaste the most. But you were crying, because you thought you almost lost him.
You were scared you almost let someone who was your blood, your kin, die.
What a silly thought. Don't be thinking these things. Suck it up, you keep doing this and let these feelings show to the family. They won't be happy. If they aren't happy because you're not happy. You'll ruin the mood.
So, suck it up, you thought to yourself. Forget those silly thoughts, forget that knot you feel in your chest. Because your Y/n Morals- . . . Wayne. Y/n Wayne.
And this family, this manor. Is your fresh start. Your new beginning. And in order to make sure this new life of yours is to keep them safe. Make sure Spider-woman is never involved in their lives. Make sure they live.
Hours passed. There was no dinner time tonight. Which you were thankful for. You washed up and got yourself ready for bed.
Your phone began to ring. You stared at the contact number.
Miles👾
You took in a shaky breath and answered the call.
"Hey. . .you good?"
You smiled in relief from hearing your cousins voice.
"Yea. . . did you need something? Is Tia Rio, okay?" You questioned. Worried by the way Miles spoke.
"No- I mean yes! yes Mami's alright, It just . . ."
Your eyes squint, getting curies, and a little worried as to what was the matter.
"Just what?" Your voice seemed to have snapped Miles out of whatever train of thought he had.
"One of those people, a woman. Jess, she said her name was. She stopped by here. Saying she had a package for you."
You felt your heart stop for a second. Why the hell was Jess there.?
"A-and I heard her talking to dad. She claimed she was a doctor you and your mom used to go to. Sis, she was saying some shit bout you being mentally ill. And it looks like Dad and Mami bought it."
You began cussing at whatever caused this to happen.
"I just wanted to give you a heads up. Mami's going to drop off the package tomorrow at noon. She'll most likely bring it up to Bruce."
You sighed. You can handle this. You just have to observe, be patent and don't jump too early. Make sure to make the right moves. One wrong move, especially in front of Tia Rio. It's game over.
"Thanks bro. Goodnight, love you." You say as you lean on your desk. Your posture made it clear that you were absolutely exhausted for the day.
"Love you too. Good luck."
Miles hung up and you were once again alone with the silence in your room. You grabbed a CD and popped it in the CD player. You had to keep yourself distracted.
You needed to be distant from those silly thoughts. But don't float away now, you have to plan on how things are going to be tomorrow.
You want to jump and go straight into why in the hell did Jessica Drew go to Miles's house. A place you had made clear was off limits. You had informed Jess and Peter B that the places where your family is, are off-limits. Meaning Uncle Aarons apartment, Miles's apartment and the Wayne Manor in Gotham.
But for now, focus on the challenges that are in front of you now.
The next day came around. Damian had apologized and gave you a album as an apology.
You ended up forcing him to watch a horrible rom com just to get something out of it. And you did.
"That was stupid, and I'm never doing this again."
You laughed at Damian's words. The boy was truly fun to watch. A second past before you two heard a knock. You both look at the doorway to see Alfred.
"Lady Y/n. Your aunt is here to see you." The man said.
You began to mentally prepare yourself as you stood up and walked off to your room, that was where Alfred led Rio to wait for you.
As Rio was waiting for you. She took a look at your room. Your books were organized on the bookshelf. Pictures of you and Miles when you two were younger on the walls. One picture was on your nightstand. It was of her sister, your mother.
Rio didn't know you were seeing a therapist. Well, after what happened with that friend of yours a few years back. You did need it.
You just seemed so happy, even after that incident. But Rio now knows that you were only so happy because of your mother. After she died, Rio hasn't heard your laugh in a while.
The door to your room opened. You smiled, walking towards Rio with a smile.
Rio hugged you tight. She pulled away and saw how tired you look. She cups your face in worry.
"Oh, my baby. You look tired, have you been sleeping? Are you eating well? How about Bruce? Is he being good to you? I sware if he is not-" You chuckled and held both of her hands and kept them close to you.
"I'm okay, Bruce is nice. He's been spoiling me actually."
Rio calmed down and nods "And sleep? Hija mía, parece que no has dormido."
"Ah, I fell behind my studies last week and have been working to catch up. Don't worry I'm good now. My grades are safe!"
Rio smiled and sighed in relief. "I came here to drop this off. Your Therapist, Mrs. Drew?" Rio took out a box that was a size of a jewelry box. You took it and set it down on your nightstand.
"Honey is-. . ." You waited for what Rio was going to say. Was she going to ask about that 'theripist' of yours? Whatever Jess said, it seems to have made Rio upset.
"Is Bruce here? I need to speak to him."
You sighed and shook your head "Sorry, he's still at work." Rio nods and just smiled again as she gave your hand a squeeze before letting go. You and Rio went downstairs so you could walk her to her car.
"Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. Your uncle has got a new position now. He's going to be captain!" Rio smiled widely as she told you news.
You smiled and grabbed her hand. You kissed the back of her hand gave it a tight squeeze "Thats amazing"
You were spacing out. It looked like you were staring at something but thinking of nothing. But you were thinking of a lot of things. You wanted to live peacefully. Is that selfish?
Being Spider-Woman was amazing. You felt strong, felt like you could overcome anything that came your way. And protect loved ones made you feel safe. Knowing that you could protect them, made you feel safe.
But after your mother. After finding out the truth from Miguel. You didn't feel safe, you no longer felt like you could keep your loved ones or anyone around you safe. Not when you have that mask on.
So, you gave up the mask, made sure that without a Spider woman in your universe, things wouldn't go to hell. But every time, every time you thought things were okay, thought that everyone was safe from Spider Woman. The society keeps coming to ruin it. You had to find a way to stop them.
"Y/n? Hello?"
You snapped out of your train of thought. "Huh? Oh, sorry Damian, what were you saying?" You leaned in on your palm and gave your brother a smile.
"Movie. I'm bored." The boy bluntly said. You paused and began to process what he said. You smiled warmly and walked with Damian to the screen room.
You swear to all the gods, you won't let the mask take what you have left.

i still can't believe that you noticed me
mindlessly scrolling on your phone, you patiently wait for your roommate, park jay, to finish cooking up some breakfast. a comfortable silence has settled between you two, with the only sounds being the sizzling oil on the pan and your humming.
"you've been listening to the same 14 songs for the past week."
"what?" you ask, looking up at him. you stare at his back, broad shoulders exposed by his tank top.
he turns his head to look back at you over his shoulder, raising a perfect eyebrow. you realise then what he's saying.
laufey had released a new album last week, and you literally haven't played any other song outside of it since it dropped. you can feel jay judging you, but you just shrug at him. you were definitely not stopping.
"so what if i've had bewitched on repeat? can you deny that they're good?" you challenged him.
"no, of course not," he chuckled to himself, turning back to the pan. "i'm just surprised you haven't gotten sick of it yet."
"i would never get sick of laufey," you say with mock offence.
"alright, then," he said with a teasing undertone.
you wanted to retort, but he placed a plate in front of you, making you forget what you were going to say.
"hey, you have a later clinical today, right?" he asked as you two dug in.
"mhm."
"take the box i left in the fridge with you before you go then. its some extra lunch i made so you'd have enough energy to get through the day."
"thank you," you say appreciatively. "you really don't have to do that every time i have a heavier day."
"well, if i have time to, then i don't see why i shouldn't."
"what about you? what are you doing today?"
"my professor cancelled class today, so i'll go check out if i can bother heeseung or jake."
"i'll pray for whichever victim you choose, then," you joke.
"maybe i won't make you extra lunch next time," he pouted playfully.
"no, no. those actually really help me. god knows if i didn't score you as my roommate, i would have passed out several times by now."
"grateful to be of service"
after breakfast, jay lounges around the apartment as you're getting ready. some show plays on the tv, but it doesn't drown out the sound of must be love playing from your speakers.
you shout your leaving when you exit the shared apartment, and jay wishes you a good day. he watches you close the door, leaving him completely alone.
i'll never forget the first time i saw you then
when he drives to the shopping centre with jake later that day, he pauses mid-sentence when he realises something.
"is everything good?" his friend asks.
"yeah, i just recognised the song playing."
"really? you listen to from the start by laufey?" jake asks. he had decided to connect his phone to jay's carplay, and had been in the one in control of the playlist.
"not really, but my roommate does."
"y/n? that's pretty cool. they've got good music taste," he replies.
"they've had her newest album on repeat since she dropped it," jay laughs, eyes on the road.
"do you find that annoying?"
"of course not, it's funny seeing them prance around the apartment, belting their heart out," he laughs at a memory of you singing at the top of your lungs. "i guess i'm more of a second-hand listener now? if that's even a thing."
"probably," jake shrugs.
a light pink bouquet, a promise you'll stay and i start to believe
the two had decided to eat out at wagamama's first, before anything else.
"i think i'll get the pad thai," tells the waitor, who nods and notes it on his ipad.
"hm, i'm feeling like trying the grilled chicken ramen," jay says. "oh, could i also get the miso mixed vegetable salad to-go?"
"sure," the waitor replies. he pockets the small device in his apron, and leaves for the kitchen.
"you ordered another meal?" the younger asks curiously.
"me and y/n go here often. of course, i had to get them something. usually, they'll go for the typical miso salad, or some curry, but they've decided they wanted to try being vegan recently. so i got the vegan one," jay explains nonchalantly.
"wow, you really care a lot about them, huh?"
"of course, we're sharing the rent, after all. have to be a good roommate, otherwise they'll leave and i'll have to pay the bills on my own."
"maybe i should get a roommate," jake chuckles. "but i don't think i'd be able to get someone like you."
"i'd feel sorry for whoever ends up with you," jay teases him. "and anyway, they're a good roommate. they do the laundry for the both of us, and we usually spend the weekends cleaning together."
"you guys are so lucky," is all jake says.
i don't recognise myself ; who've i become?
jake dragged jay into their third clothing shop that day, despite jay's protests. in self-defence, jake whines about needing some new shoes.
"don't you have like, thirty pairs? what could you possibly need another one for?"
"actually, i only have twenty-eight. and i need one for graduation, of course."
"right, because none of your almost-thirty pairs suffice," jay rolls his eyes.
"don't act like you dont have seventy pairs of the same polo shirt."
"i don't!"
"i've seen your closet, don't lie to me."
jay sighs and leaves jake to wander around the shop on his own.
"there you go again, buying another shirt," jake's voice sighs from behind jay fifteen minutes later.
"not for me," jay shakes his head. he turns to show the clothing piece to his friend. "for y/n. this is definitely their style, and it'll fit them so well. they have a pair of shoes that are this exact colour, so it would be good outfit if they sandwhich it with any bottom piece they choose."
"you think a lot about your roommate," jake raises his eyebrow at him.
"i see them all the time, why wouldn't i?" jay asks.
"no, like, you think too much about y/n considering you're 'only roommates'," he says with a quote gesture.
"stop suggesting weird things," jay walks ahead to the counter, leaving jake to follow behind.
"is it really so weird, though? if you like y/n like that?"
jay just ignores him, and pays for the shirt. it's not, he thinks to himself, because it's not a new thought either.
i trace it all back, 3:30 am that night something turned in my heart
"thank you, jay," you hug him when he shows you what he got. "you really need to stop buying me things."
"i can't help it," he smiles. "when i see something that reminds me of you, i just feel like i have to get it."
"with how often you buy me things, i'd say a lot of things remind you of me, huh?"
"seems like it..." he scratches his nape, awkwardly avoiding eye contact with you. thanks jake, he scowls in his mind. now he can't stop thinking about what he said earlier.
you and jay decide to watch a movie the next night, since it was a friday, and neither of you had to be up early the next day.
but jay couldn't focus on the tv when you two were basically cuddling under the shared blanket on the sofa. his skin prickled where his arm hung around your shoulder, and the weight of your head on his made him feel light and airy.
the warmth of your body seeped through your clothes, and brought him immense comfort. your sweet scent filled his nose, subconsciously recognising it to be one of the perfumes he'd bought you.
it was only when the movie ended he realised he hadn't been watching at all. and neither were you, if your light snores were any indication.
he huffed amusedly to himself, and shifted on the sofa to get you two in a more comfortable position, actually lying down. reaching for the remote, he carefully switched off the tv, leaving the only source of light to be a soft, warm yellow coming from a corner lamp.
jay stared at your features, illuminated by the dim light. he realised right then, in the comfort of your arms, far into the night, what he felt for you.
while you were sleeping, i fell in love.

MEIII!!!! Hope you had a good day!!!!
I was thinking 🤔🤔🤔 an ex gf of Hotch comes to work w the BAU & they hadn’t told anyone abt it but the Bau girls help R unpack find photo albums old pictures of her and their boss (hot)
You had intended to be more careful when letting your new teammates dig through boxes in your apartment, but they had each brought over bottles of wine as housewarming gifts, and the first thing you'd come across were your glasses. So now that there's a healthy buzz over your brain, making it just a little bit hard to focus, you don't notice Penelope reaching into the box that says memories.
She squeals at a baby picture of you, an album full of your childhood memories in her hands. You think nothing of it, still slightly intoxicated to where you don't forsee the next album she'll pick up. Emily and JJ flock to her side, crooning and cooing over your past self, but when they shut the album and reach for the next, and your brain finally switches on, you're not fast enough to stop them.
"Woah, that guy- holy shit," Emily laughs, her own mind clouded as she points sloppily at the man kissing your cheek in the first photo, "That guy looks like Hotch."
JJ snorts, but Penelope falls silent.
Of course, you think, of course she's seen pictures of when he was younger. You'd expect nothing less from the BAU's resident snoop.
"That is Hotch," She breathes, alcohol be damned as she puts the puzzle pieces together, "Oh my god, you dated Hotch!"
"Oh," Emily laughs, eyes wide and giddy and dazed, "You dated Hotch!"
"I- I didn't date Hotch," You huff exasperatedly, wine forgotten on the counter, "I dated a man from law school. He was not the same person."
"You mean this was before someone shoved a stick up his ass?" JJ eyes you incredulously, "I thought it was placed there at birth."
"He doesn't have a stick up his ass!" You feel the inexplicable urge to defend your boss, despite him having left you reeling in college, "He's- he's got issues. Stuff you don't even know about. Everyone does, we've all- we've all got issues."
"What happened?" Penelope asks, her voice soft and worried, "He didn't cheat on you, did he?"
"No!" You let out a huffy laugh, "No, he didn't cheat on me. We just parted ways because- well, our schedules were tight. We never saw each other, when I had a day off he was working, and vice versa. He wanted someone with a more adjustable schedule."
"That's not fair," Penelope's eyes glaze over with tears, that you're sure are only partially from the wine she's consumed, "That's not fair, to stop loving someone because they're busy. He was busy too, what- why were you the problem?"
"It wasn't like that," You gush, but it was entirely like that, "Listen, we were both stressed all the time. I don't know if you've ever tried to be lawyers, but it sucks. And- and we never saw each other, and we were young, and stupid, and we hated our jobs but we couldn't quit, and- and it was a mess! And I'm glad," You peter off your emotional speech with a soft whimper, "I'm glad he found someone who had the time to love him. Because both of us deserved that, just-" You sniffle, your eyes stinging with tears, "Only one of us got it."
"Oh, honey," JJ laments, reaching for you with both hands now that her wine glass is set aside. You dodge her hands, though, excusing yourself with a shitty excuse and a hurried walk to the bathroom.
There's no tissues. Of course there's no tissues, you haven't had a moment to live in this apartment since you'd set foot in it. Work was always getting in the way, like it had for your entire life.
You're not angry at Aaron for leaving you. You weren't a good fit for each other, not with your careers taking off as they were. In all honesty, you might have broken up with him yourself if it had gone on any longer. But you're jealous in a way, that he found someone who had the time for him while you didn't. And that's not his fault, you shouldn't be resentful that he found love just because you didn't. Your feelings for him comes from loneliness, not anger. But they read the same, and you're sure your new teammates think you're silently raging at your new unit chief.
After a quick wash of your face in the sink and a makeshift toilet paper tissue, you step back out into the living room, three pairs of eyes trained immediately on you.
"I appreciate that you're taking my side here," You hum, a knot in your throat the size of a fist, "But it's a closed matter. We haven't spoken in years, and I feel like we still haven't. He's different now, he's not the man I dated, and I would like it if you would be able to forget that this happened."
Emily is the first to speak up, "Okay. Okay, honey, we understand. But- but please don't ignore your feelings if they're starting to resurface. At the very least, you deserve closure."
"And hey," JJ smiles, trying to look eager but looking mostly sad, "If you wanna give things another shot, he's single and you work with him. At least all the time you spend working now is with him, too."
"Yeah," You let out a light chuckle, still bogged down by the ghost of the tears you'd wiped away in the bathroom. Penelope can't take it anymore, and rushes in for a squeeze.
"Oh, sweetheart," She gushes, "It'll work out! I bet you're gonna have this crazy-sweet second chance romance kind of thing, and we'll all be at your wedding!"
"Slow down," You laugh, thankful that you have her shoulder to snuggle into, "We haven't even acknowledged that we used to date yet. Let's wait until the proposal to start talking about the wedding."
A good-natured laugh is shared throughout your small apartment, and the photo album is set back in its box for safekeeping. They give you the courtesy of unpacking it yourself, just in case any stray memories come to haunt you. You're grateful for it, and it's easy to slip back into your wine-fueled giggle fest while working on your bookshelf instead.
--
Mere miles away, Aaron is sitting on the floor of his bedroom. There's a photo album in his lap, one half of a pair, the other half of which he hopes isn't in a landfill somewhere. His eyes are trained on a photo you'd taken on winter break from your sophomore year of school, skis strapped to your feet and poles in your hands as Aaron hugged you from behind. You'd done the Titanic pose on the side of the ski hill, your arms outstretched and Aaron's face twisted over your shoulder to gaze endearingly at you. It's a blurry photo, because your friends had taken it from the bottom of the slope, but the memories of it are crisp in his head.
He hears the patter of little feet down the hallway, and doesn't have the energy to close the book before Jack sees it.
"Daddy?" His son's little voice asks, "Who's that?"
"Do you recognize," He hums, flipping to a clearer picture of the two of you, and pointing to himself, "Him?"
Jack's face scrunches, nose wrinkled and eyes squinted, "Is that you, daddy?"
"It is me," Aaron chuckles, "I looked younger, huh?"
"Yeah," Jack nods emphatically, poking at his dad's cheeks, 'Now you have wrinkles."
Aaron scoffs, "Thanks, bud. What'cha need?"
"I'm just bored," Jack huffs, looking back at the picture displayed in the book, "That's not Mommy. Why are you kissing her?"
"I met her before I met your mommy," Aaron hums, ghosting his pointer finger over the page, "But we broke up. Then your mommy and I got married."
"Why did you break up?" Jack cocks his head to the side, "You didn't love her as much as Mommy?"
"I loved her," Aaron muses, "But we both had really busy jobs. And we never saw each other, so it made us sad. So we broke up so that we wouldn't be so sad anymore."
"Oh." Jack frowns, "Okay. I'm sorry you were sad."
"It's okay, buddy," Aaron slings an arm around Jack's side, kissing his chubby cheek, "I'm not sad anymore. Well- sort of. Do you know why I'm looking at these pictures?"
Jack shakes his head, "Mm-mm. Why?"
"She joined my team," Aaron informs his son, watching the gears in his brain turn. "So I'm a little bit sad now, because seeing her makes me remember how sad I was when we broke up."
"But," Jack drags out the vowel, "If she's on your team now, then you see her all the time! And you were sad because you didn't get to see her, but now you can be happy again!"
"That's- uh, kind of." Aaron shuts the book, turning to face Jack fully, "I think I might be a little bit sad forever about us breaking up."
"Forever," Jack frowns, relying heavily on the fact that he's been told he'll never be sad forever, "Why?"
"Because we can't fix it." Aaron sighs, "We can't go back in time and stay together."
"But you can date her now," Jack prods, and wow, Aaron needs to give him more credit, "Why do you have to be sad forever?"
"You'd be okay with me dating someone else?" Aaron asks carefully, "Someone who isn't your Mommy?"
"It it makes you happy again," Jack nods, "I don't want you to be sad forever, Daddy."
Aaron's struck with tears that he tries to tamp down. His nose runs, and he sniffles shakily, "Thank you, bud. You're sweet, you know that?"
"Mm-hm," Jack nods, "Penny tells me."
"Yes she does," Aaron laughs, a watery sound as he pulls Jack in for a hug, "Every time she makes you cookies, she tells you you're sweeter. You should know by now."
"So," Jack gets right to the point, "Are you gonna date her again, Daddy?"
"I don't know," Aaron hums, "Maybe. I have to ask her, first. And I don't think I should ask her right away."
"You should share your lunch with her," Jack instructs, "I gave Ellie one of my oreos at lunch, and now she's my girlfriend."
Aaron's brows raise, "Wow. Do you like having a girlfriend?"
"Yeah." Jack nods simply, "She's nice to me. We take turns pushing each other on the swings."
"Well, maybe we'll both have girlfriends soon," Aaron grins at his son, "Do you think we should go out on a double date? Like, we both take our girlfriends out to eat together?"
"Yeah!" Jack shouts, enthused by the idea, "We should go to get ice cream, though. Ellie really likes chocolate."
"Okay," Aaron chuckles, letting Jack wander off to pick through his toy box, renewed hope in his chest at the thought of sitting side-by-side with you in an ice cream parlor, "Sounds like a plan, bud!"

His Favorite Poison (NSFW 18+)
Tumblr media
AN: The trope that a lot of yall live for 🤭🤭
Synopsis: You and Jack grew up together in Louisville, but didn't run in the same circles. From what he had seen, you were bougie, entitled, and stuck up and the last thing he wanted was to be associated with you. Fast forward a few years later, you're new to Jack's team brought on by Neelam and as much as he wants nothing to do with you, he can't help it if you keep pulling him in.
Pairing: Jack Harlow x Reader
Jack Harlow Masterlist

Jack looked at Neelam in disbelief as she explained to him that someone new was joining the team and helping him with his new album.
He was all for it, until he found out it was you.
“Jack, she told me that the two of you grew up together in Louisville, so I felt that it would be nice to have another familiar face around. I figured that she would be a good fit. She is more than qualified to work with us. She’s worked with a lot of different people in the industry already.”
“Well the only thing I know about her is how stuck up and spoiled she is.” It was at that moment, as you were about to turn the corner you heard Jack’s voice and you could only guess that he was talking about you.
“Jack! Be nice! She’ll be here in the next ten minutes.”
“Tell her to turn around and go home because I don’t want her here.”
“Will you stop being an ass for five seconds?” Neelam said quickly growing annoyed with how he was acting. But you were steadily in the corner listening. It seemed like he already had his mind made up about you even though the two of you didn’t really even know each other. Even though the two of you did grow up in Louisville together, you ran in two very different circles. While Jack became a rapper, you became a songwriter and producer. But you two never worked together until now. However you had worked with Bryson as well as EST Gee many times. It wasn’t until Neelam practically begged you to work with Jack.
“No, I won’t stop because I don’t want her anywhere near me.”
Then you decided to make your presence known and not have this go on for any longer. The sooner you got this over with, the better.
“Nice to see you too, Jackman.” You greeted him and he got somewhat of a startled look on his face while Neelam just shook her head.
“Oh… I-...”
“I don’t really care if you don’t like me, I have a job to do. I was hired because I’m obviously capable of doing it. But if you’d rather let Neelam continue to drown and not get my help, be my guest so I can go home. I have plenty of other things that I could be doing but I’m here with you.”
All you got in response was Jack sighing before he rolled his eyes.
“Now that we got that trainwreck of an introduction out of the way, we have a lot to work on. And Jack, did you even brush your hair this morning? You’re giving me caveman vibes.” Neelam stifled a laugh and Jack immediately eyed her as she quickly looked away.
“Who says that I even need your help and for your information, I did.”
“Well, you must have brushed it in the dark and obviously you need my help when you’re putting out albums that only get a 2.9 rating. The people of Louisville expected better from you and I plan on making that happen. So lose your attitude and leave your ego at the door. All those haters that you claimed to have are definitely not hating on that babe. Let’s do better moving forward, okay?”
“Well damn.” Neelam said under her breath, but Jack clearly heard her. At this point, his mouth was hanging wide open.
“We have a lot to discuss so I guess we should get started? Come on you two.”
You walked ahead of the two of them down the hallway and Jack simply turned to look at Neelam.
“I’m going to kill you for bringing her on.”
“You won’t kill me once she helps you. Like it or not, you need her.”
“All she’s done is terrorize me and insult me the minute she got here.”
“To be fair, you started it now, come on.”
You were sitting down trying to think of what Jack could do differently as far as his music went in order for him to bounce back from CHTKMY. It wasn’t a total flop, but after hearing his previous projects you knew that he had it in him to be better.
“Hmm, who knew that this is what I would be faced with on my first day?” You said quietly to yourself and Jack did a double take.
“What do you mean it’s your first day?! You’ve never done this before?!”
“And you’ve never put out an album rating 2.9 before either. We’re both learning here. But I have done this before. Plenty of times actually. I have a grammy sweetheart. I meant I’m faced with you being an ass and have to do my best to make sure this next album is top tier.”
“You don’t have to remind me of that every chance you get.”
“It’s supposed to motivate you to do better and I think I have a solution because no one is going to take you seriously if that happens again.”
“Let’s hear it.” Neelam excitedly said and all you could do was smile at her.
“Okay so, here’s what I’m thinking. From the research that I’ve done, this next album needs to be ten times or twenty times better than your last obviously. Oh and focus less on side pieces and all the hoes you get because let’s be serious, no one cares. We know you’re attractive and I can imagine you’re even more attractive when you brush your hair so we know the girls are all over you.”
“But…” Jack tried to add, but you cut him off.
“I’m not done. In Churchill Downs you say ‘everybody know Jack, but they don’t know Jackman correct?”
“And? What’s your point?”
“We need Jackman to show up for this next album and not Jack. We need to think outside the box and do something that you’ve never done before.”
“How do you propose I do that?”
“What do you mean how? You need to give your fans the real version of you because that will make them appreciate you even more. Despite you being an absolute asshole to me, I do want to help you do this and I take my job seriously. I felt bad when Neelam started to beg. I’m really here for her if we’re being honest.”
“HEY! You weren’t supposed to mention that!” She exclaimed and all you did was shrug.
“I call it like I see it. Now, we want this to be huge so, no promo whatsoever. We’ll drop a hint a day or two before it gets released and that’s it.”
“Wait a minute now, that sounds like a setup for it to flop.” Jack confessed and you could honestly tell he was worried.
“I promise if you do everything that I say, that it won’t be. And when have I ever made something that was a flop? Put some respect on my name please. I guarantee that I will have you number one on the charts. Just leave your ego to the side and do what you do best and I’ll do the rest. I need you to write a good ass album that will let people know that the little white boy that DJ Drama found from Kentucky is here to stay and he deserves a place in this industry. You’re not a fucking industry plant so you better not act like one. Now are we ready?”
“I didn’t realize that you were a fucking drill sergeant too.” Jack muttered and just crossed his arms.
“If you think this is me being a drill sergeant now, You haven’t seen anything yet.”
“Jack, no. too repetitive.” You said as he was showing you lyrics of the current song that he was writing. It was around 11 at night in Louisville and the two of you had been working just about all day. There were a few other people scattered around the studio and Jack let out a sigh.
“I understand you’re frustrated, but I’m trying to help you make the best album you’ve done to date. So what are you feeling at the moment? We can use that to motivate you.” You curiously asked.
From that first day of the awkward interaction, you and Jack had been spending just about every day with each other working on his new album and of course he was still being an asshole towards you despite you trying to help him. Although Urban told you that he would eventually come around, but you weren’t sure.
“What am I feeling? Feeling like I’m sick of this shit and that I want to go home.”
You simply laid your pen down on top of your notebook and fully turned to face him. He was looking at you curiously knowing that you were probably going to have a slick ass comment come out of your mouth.
“Jack, let’s just be adults and work through this. The sooner we get done, the sooner we go our separate ways and we never have to be bothered with each other again.” You tried not to show the disappointment on your face when you said it. You didn’t understand what he had against you seeing as you two didn’t know each other well.
“He will, if he wants to keep getting hit songs on his album.” Urban muttered and Jack shot him a look.
“Now, I’m going to ask you again, how are you feeling right now?”
It took him a few minutes before he finally answered.
“Like I just want to lay low while continuing to prove people wrong. Let the music speak for itself.”
“Then write that.” You said while scooting your notebook towards him.
He was hesitant, but he eventually took it.
It was almost one in the morning and you were ready to call it quits and resume later that morning. It was now only you and Jack left in the studio and you could tell that the writer’s block was getting to him.
“Jack, just get in the booth.” You said while looking over at him and he looked at you like you had lost it.
“I don’t even have anything written. So what am I doing that for?”
“I’ve been working on a few beats for you. Maybe if you hear it, it’ll motivate you. Do this and we can go home and be right back at it later tonight.”
Jack shrugged before doing as he was told. He now had the headphones on and you hit play on the soundboard. As the beat filled the studio, Jack was surprised and did his best to not show it on his face.
Maybe it wasn’t a bad idea to bring you on after all.
You simply nodded for him to start when he was ready and he simply freestyled what he was feeling.
It must be my skin, I can't think of any other reason I win (Ooh)
I can't think of an explanation, it can't be the years of work I put in
It can't be the way that I stuck with the same friends
It can't be the swag I got when I walk in, it can't be
It can't be the way I treat people or how I make time to see people
Or make sure that they feel like we equals
It can't be the smile, it can't be the eye contact with these crowds
It can't be my pen, it can't be these verses
That make people feel like I'm talkin' to them
It can't be the homage I've paid
Nights when I could've left the studio early, but I stayed
It can't be the tone of my voice
It can't be the thought I put into every choice
It can't be the Jeep instead of the Rolls-Royce
It can't be the downtime with my boys
It can't be the Tribe and the Biggie and the Nas
The Outkast and the Missy in my iPod
It can't be the absence of any facade
It can't be the worldwide hometown pride
So I guess (So I guess)
It must be my skin, I can't think of any other reason I win
I can't think of an explanation, it can't be the years of work I put in
It can't be the way that I stuck with the same friends
It can't be the swag I got when I walk in, it can't be
Once he stopped, he looked over at you to see if you approved and you quickly smiled at him and nodded. Once he was sitting back next to you, he mentioned that another verse and the chorus again would be perfect and that the song would be finished. So you volunteered to help him write it.
It took another twenty minutes, but in the end both of you were satisfied with it.
It can't be some understanding or branding
Or maybe that I'm outstanding
Or all the South American fans that meet me at the airport upon landing
It can't be my aunties and grannies
And every other woman in my family that raised me to be upstanding
It can't be that I simply make ear candy
Especially when the industry could just plant me
Especially when I didn't grow up on Brandy
Especially when I'm havin' dinner in Frankfort with Andy
It can't be a bit of good karma
It can't be the way they all said that he's a charmer
It can't be the lack of chinks in my armor
It can't be the poise when them boys try to harm us
It can't be that we built somethin' to be a part of
It can't be the way that every beat gets barred up
So I guess
It must be my skin, I can't think of any other reason I win
I can't think of an explanation, it can't be the years of work I put in
It can't be the way that I stuck with the same friends
It can't be the swag I got when I walk in, it can't be
“Now this is what I meant when I said that I needed Jackman and not Jack.” You said nodding in approval.
“See if you weren’t so stuck up growing up, we could’ve been making hits.”
“Uhh, thanks? But what makes you think I’m stuck up? You hardly ever said two words to me growing up.”
“Do I really have to explain it?”
“Yes, because I’m obviously confused. I was never mean or rude to you.”
“I guess not since you probably didn’t know I existed. You always had this thing about you like you thought you were better than everybody.”
“Where did you even get that from because that couldn’t be further from the truth. I knew that you existed right along with the rest of your friends.”
“Let’s just drop it. I appreciate you doing this for me. Sooo, same time tomorrow?” Jack asked while getting up to gather all of his things and you quickly followed suit.
“Yes I’ll be here.”
“I still don’t like you or trust you though.”
Your heart somewhat dropped hearing him say that and you wanted more of an explanation to what he said before. You barely said two words to him when you were younger because you were shy and you had the biggest crush on him. You still did, but knew since he had this idea of how you were in his head already that even being friends would never be a reality. But you knew you had to separate your feelings from your job. You were here to help make him an amazing album and that was it.
“Just like I said before, you don’t have to.”
It had been about two months or so since you first started helping Jack write his album and it was going smoothly despite the awkward beginning that the two of you had. Even though Jack originally told you that he didn’t particularly care for you, his feelings were starting to change the more time that he spent with you.
He noticed that everyone that came into the studio gravitated towards you no matter what was going on and that people spoke very highly of you.
Not once did he hear anyone say something bad about you. It wasn’t until the two of you were getting ready to leave for the night when you noticed him hovering near the door. You simply raised your eyebrow up at him as he shifted his weight back and forth.
“Did you need me for something?” You asked while turning around to look at him.
“It’s 3 in the morning and I don’t want you walking to your car by yourself.” Jack confessed while scratching the back of his neck.
“We’ve left later than this before and I was just fine.” You replied while looking in your tote bag for your keys.
“I get that, but I should have done it then too.”
You threw your bag over your shoulder and met him at the door with him moving to the side so that he could let you go out first and he would follow behind you. The two of you then walked to your cars in silence and Jack was surprised to find out that the two of you had actually parked next to each other.
“You would have a BMW.” Jack blurted out before he caught himself. He was trying to turn over a new leaf with you and it obviously wasn’t starting off well.
“What is that supposed to mean, Jack?” You asked before sighing and opening your door.
“Um… just that it suits you. That’s all.”
“I’m safe and sound in my car so you can go ahead and go home.” You threw your bag in the passenger seat, but Jack not wanting the night to end just yet had gotten a bright idea. He didn’t want to admit to himself how much he liked spending time with you.
“Um, I’ll follow you to make sure you get home okay.”
“Are you…. Do you feel okay?” You asked, confused by the sudden change of heart. Two months ago he didn’t even want to be in the same room with you and now he wants to follow you in his car to make sure that you got home okay?
“I feel fine.” Jack answered as he shrugged and got into the driver’s side of his Jeep. The two of you started up your cars and were on your way.
You made sure that Jack was close behind you as you merged onto the highway. You looked into your rearview mirror periodically to make sure that he was behind you and put on some music to distract yourself from your thoughts. You didn’t quite know what was happening between you and Jack, and you were sure that your heart did a backflip when he wanted to make sure you got home safely.
You didn’t know if that was good or bad.
He had never done that before and you also noticed that he was starting to get shy around you. Whenever you would bring up something, he would see what you thought first before giving his opinion.
It took about twenty minutes before you were pulling into the parking garage where your condo was. Once you had parked, you noticed that Jack had pulled up next to you. You had gotten out and made your way towards him as he rolled down his window.
“Thanks for making sure I got home okay.” You said while giving him a small smile which he eagerly returned.
“Oh, you’re welcome. I really didn’t mind.”
Since the two of you had pulled into the garage, you noticed that it had started to rain heavily and because you didn’t want him driving in that trying to get home, you suddenly blurted out for him to stay with you before you could stop yourself.
“Um, do you want to come inside? It’s pouring out here and I can’t have you driving home in that.”
“I really don’t live that far away and don’t want to be an inconvenience to you.”
“You won’t be, I promise. Just come on before either of us get sick and then it’ll take us even longer to finish your album.”
Once the two of you hit the top floor in the building, you led him down the hallway and stopped in front of your door while fishing for your keys in your bag to open the door. Once you did, you led the two of you inside and Jack was looking around taking in his surroundings. Everything was neat and extremely organized just how you were.
He didn’t expect anything less from you.
It was at that moment you suddenly had a thought.
“Shit.” You quietly said, but Jack still heard you.
“What? What’s wrong?”
You simply threw your head back and sighed before answering him.
“I forgot my brother is staying with me this week so he’s in the guest room.”
“I can take the couch, it’s not a problem.”
“Jack, your 6’3 ass will not be comfortable especially if you want to stretch out. You can sleep in my room and I’ll take the couch. I have a king sized bed.”
“Absolutely not. I’m not kicking you out of your room. You were nice enough to let me stay so that I didn’t have to drive in the rain but I’m not doing that. And what do you need with a king sized bed? Aren’t you like 5’1?”
“Watch it Harlow. Just…. come on.” You grabbed his hand and led him to your bedroom. You immediately went to your vanity to start taking off your jewelry while Jack awkwardly stood in the corner.
“Jack, I don’t bite. Make yourself comfortable.” You said as you began to put your hair up.
He slowly slipped off his shoes as you went to change into your pajamas in your walk-in closet. When you came back, your breath hitched in your throat because he was now shirtless laying on your bed with his hand behind his head scrolling through his phone.
Get yourself together, Y/N. You thought to yourself before sliding in next to him. Jack put his phone down when you did and he looked just about as nervous as you did.
“Uhh, what time were we going to head to the studio?” Jack curiously asked as you turned out the light. You figured he wouldn’t be able to see how nervous you were in the dark.
“Um around 11? How does that sound?”
“That sounds fine. I have another song that I wrote the other day that I wanted you to look over for me.”
“Okay.”
It was quiet for a few minutes with just the sounds of both of your breathing in your room before you heard Jack’s voice again.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you for doing this for me even if it didn’t start out so well. You could’ve quit right then and there. I’m happy that you didn’t.”
“You’re welcome and I meant what I said. It’s my job and I’m going to make sure that this album is successful. Now go to sleep because we have a lot to do today.”
“So you mean to tell me that you slept in the same bed as the girl that you absolutely hate last night?” Urban asked his best friend on facetime as Jack was picking up what he learned was your favorite breakfast while also getting himself something from a small cafe down the street. He noticed how you came in with the same bag to the studio everyday and he has learned from Neelam that you liked chai tea and not coffee so that’s what he got you.
“Hate is such a strong word.”
“You weren’t saying that two months ago. I remember every day for that first month you complaining about her despite her doing something that benefits you.”
“I woke up with my arm around her and luckily she was still sleeping. I left and went home to take a shower and change my clothes.”
“And now you’re picking her up her favorite breakfast. Hmm, you're whipped.”
“What? How am I whipped? We aren’t even together.”
“Not yet anyway.”
“There’s no way. I don’t even like her like that.”
All Urban did was eye him and Jack quickly looked away as his name was called to pick up your order.
He made his way back to his Jeep before saying anything else.
“Ask her out.”
“She has it in her mind that I don’t like her. So I can imagine that’s not going to go all that well.”
“Why would she think that unless you actually told her that? She literally invited you to her condo and the fact that the two of you didn’t fuck is beyond me. If you don’t want her, send her my way.”
All Jack did was scratch the back of his neck as Urban looked at him in disbelief.
“No the fuck you didn’t tell her that.”
“Ehh, not exactly my best moment.”
“Why are you such a dumbass sometimes? You have literally had this one-sided beef with her for years and one that she doesn’t even know about. She deserves at least that much from you. To explain it, I mean.”
“I ask myself that every day and I don’t know if she even wants to hear me out.”
“Tell her how you feel before someone else swoops in and gets her.”
Jack had now made it back to your condo and briefly knocked on the door and was hoping that your brother didn’t answer because the last thing he wanted was to have to explain what was going on between the two of you. You opened it and simply eyed him as he handed you the bag that contained your food and what you assumed was chai tea.
“What’s this?” You asked while looking at him dumbfounded.
“Your breakfast. It’s the least that I could do for you letting me stay here.”
“Oh, you didn’t have to do that.”
“And I know you don’t really drink coffee so that’s chai tea. Neelam said it was your favorite.”
“Hmm, well thank you. I appreciate it.” You said while moving to the side so he could walk past you.
You locked the door behind him and went to the kitchen to sit across from Jack at the island as he also started to eat his food.
“Is your brother here?” Jack curiously asked while looking around and all you did was smirk.
“No, he left out earlier. Why?”
“I just didn’t want to explain why I was coming out of your bedroom at the crack of dawn just in case.”
“Last time I checked I was a grown ass woman and it wouldn’t be any of his business anyway. If I want to have sex with multiple people in one night then I’m going to without any input from anyone else.”
You saying that made Jack feel a wave of jealousy come over him and the fact that it wasn’t him that you were referring to. The sexual tension at least from his point of view was quite evident between the both of you, but since he had been an asshole to you before, he highly doubted that you would want to be anywhere near him when this was over and done with.
“Fair point.”
It was now around four in the afternoon and everybody was stating how hungry they were and Jack took it upon himself to ask you to go to lunch with him and that he would treat you.
“You treated me this morning, so let me return the favor.” You said while looking up at him as he towered above you.
“No, you working on this album with me is more than enough. I’m treating you and I know the perfect place that we can go.”
You held your hands up in surrender and let him have his way, not wanting to go back and forth with him.
“Okay, let me just go to the bathroom and I’ll be ready.”
“I’m serious Y/N, leave your wallet here.”
“Fine.”
You walked down the hallway until you got to the bathroom and quickly went inside and locked the door behind you.
Only a few minutes had passed and once you finished drying your hands, you opened the door to see Jack standing on the other side of it. Before you could ask him if something was wrong, he abruptly kissed you and pushed you back inside all while locking the door behind him.
You eagerly kissed him back as he sat you on the counter before he reached down in an attempt to pull your dress up around your waist so that he could have easier access to you.
He briefly broke away from you to look down at you for approval and you quickly nodded. Jack got on his knees and slid your black thong down your thighs before putting it in his back pocket leaving you with your mouth hanging wide open.
Proceeding to spread your thighs, Jack got as close as possible as he could to you taking one long lick and you immediately shuddered while your hands went into his curly hair.
It took everything in you to hold back your moans not wanting anyone to hear you since you didn’t know how many people might be around.
“Jackkkk, shit.”
He continued to lap at your folds and couldn’t wait to see you come undone in front of him. If someone had asked you two months ago if you thought that you would be in the position that you were currently in, the answer would have been no.
“Mmm, you taste so fucking good.” You heard Jack say and you couldn’t help but to moan.
“Shiiit, I’m close.”
Upon hearing you say that, Jack immediately went to suck on your clit making you hold your hand to your mouth in an attempt to stay quiet. You let a few moans escape here and there before both of your hands went back into his hair.
In less than a minute, you came all over his face as he continued to lap at your folds. He finally stood up and you brought his lips to yours in a kiss that almost felt desperate. As you were kissing Jack, you were multitasking as you undid his pants and slid them down along with his boxer briefs to his ankles.
You definitely did a double take once you saw how big he was, but that wasn’t going to stop you seeing as you didn’t know if this would ever happen again.
“Fuck, I don’t have a condom.”
“Doesn’t matter, I’m on the pill.”
Jack simply nodded as he slowly entered you and kept going until he bottomed out and let out a moan.
One thing you loved during sex is if a man was vocal and you could tell that Jack wasn’t about to disappoint you.
You reached up to place your arms around his shoulders as he whispered in your ear.
“You okay?”
You simply nodded in return now that you had time to adjust and Jack quickly showed you no mercy with the pace that he was moving in and out of you with.
“Fuck, you feel so good around me.” You heard Jack say as you once again covered your mouth in an attempt to hide your moans.
Nothing was working as he increased his pace and you loudly moaned his name.
“Shh, baby we don’t want anyone to hear us .”
You whimpered as you felt his thrusts get sloppier and you knew that he was close and it was only a matter of time before it happened.
You didn’t know how much time had passed, but you knew that the two of you needed to get back down the hallways before anyone suspected anything.
The both of you finally released at the same time as Jack was placing kisses along your neck as you came down from your high.
It took a few minutes before your breathing to become even again as Jack slowly slipped out of you.
You began to hop off of the counter so you could pull your dress down, but not before Jack brought his lips to yours once more.
“You think they’re looking for us?” Jack asked you as his forehead was laying against yours and you had gotten lost staring into those blue eyes that you loved so much.
“They might be so let’s go.”
Once again, you attempted to hop down, but Jack immediately stopped you.
“I’ll go first then wait a few minutes, okay?” Jack proposed and you nodded.
The both of you quickly got dressed and Jack left out first leaving you confused on what had just happened.
You had just had sex with Jack in the bathroom at the studio.
The thoughts were going through your mind at 100 miles an hour but you couldn’t think about that right now.
You still had a job to do and would deal with your feelings later.
Finally you hopped off the counter and had a realization.
Jack definitely slipped your thong into his back pocket.
Once you had gotten yourself together, you walked back into the studio to see Jack talking and laughing with Urban as you made your way back to your seat.
How were you even supposed to concentrate after that?
But, at the end of the day you were a professional and knew you needed to get this done.
No matter how hard it would be to now have to face Jack every day.
“You okay,Y/N?” Urban asked you and you simply shot him a small smile.
“Never better.”
Over the next few weeks, Jack had acted like nothing had happened between the two of you and for some reason it was bothering you to no end.
So he could just have sex with you whenever he wanted and act like everything is normal?
Luckily, it was an off day for you and all you were doing was laying around your condo, stuffing your face with food and catching up on all your shows when there was a knock at the door.
You checked your security camera to see that it was him.
Him as in Jack.
You rolled your eyes and slowly walked to the door, swung it open and walked back to the couch without even acknowledging him.
Jack thought it was weird that you didn’t say anything to him and simply followed you to sit next to you.
It was quiet for a few minutes before either of you spoke and Jack was extremely nervous and didn’t want to be the one to break the silence.
“What do you want, Harlow?” You asked while not taking your eyes off the television.
“I.. I wanted to talk to you about what happened.”
“So, it took you weeks to do that?”
“No… well… I didn’t mean for it to take this long. I just didn’t know what to say.”
“Didn’t know what to say? You literally put my thong in your back pocket, ate me out, and rearranged my guts in a studio bathroom and you have no clue what to say to me?”
“Look, I like you Y/N, I like you a lot and I’ve been afraid to admit it outloud. How I treated you was unacceptable and I want to apologize for it. I admit that because of what I heard about you, I already had this idea in my head about who you were as a person and that wasn’t right. I didn’t even give you a chance and I was judging you. You’ve been nothing but amazing to me this entire time as you helped me to do this album despite how I treated you. You’re a sweetheart who also takes her job seriously and I love that about you.”
“I just never understood why you hated me so much.” You said while finally turning to look at him.
“I didn’t hate you!”
“But you didn’t particularly like me either or trust me and you told me that yourself.”
“Um, well….”
“Just drop it, Jack. Your album is just about finished. We can go our separate ways and act as if this never happened.”
“But what if I don’t want for us to go our separate ways?” He asked while taking your smaller hand in his.
“What are you even saying?”
“That I want to take you out on a proper date which doesn’t end up with me fucking you in a bathroom.”
“But who says that I didn’t want you fucking me in the bathroom?” You curiously asked before smiling at him.
“Let me at least buy you dinner first.”
“It’s a deal and I’m going to need my thong back.”
“No you don’t. I’m definitely keeping it.”

pull me in
a/n: okayyyyyyyy a little writing because i missed writing but it's been hard writing a big story. satellite blurb about friend!harry and (thought to be) unrequited love hehe
Tumblr media
Everyone knew the feelings you two had for each other. The feelings that went unannounced every day for years.
The constant questions you would ask about him, wondering where he was. The constant wondering if you actually liked him or if he was just reading you wrong. It was like this for years but life kept going, never once allowing you to stop and think, eventually causing you to drift apart.
The infatuation, admiration, and love were persistent, though, no matter how far apart you grew. You weren't exactly sure why.
When you turned eighteen, you went off to university in London to study education, and Harry had pursued his career in music. You had your mutual friends but it had been years since you physically saw or spoke to him. You had boyfriends and lovers and focused intently on your studies and career, so the pestering thought of a particular famous musician should've gone away. It was your plan, after all.
After a night out where you drunkenly admitted your feelings to an also drunk Harry and him not saying anything in return, you made sure to never embarrass yourself like that again.
Unbeknownst to you, however, Harry didn't hear you. Between the music, the slur of your words, and the guy talking in his left ear, he couldn't make out what you were trying to tell him. When he was trying to read your lips and form some sentence in his head, he saw the look on your face change and the smile you had quickly shaped into a frown. He was ready to ask you to repeat yourself but then that guy talking in his left ear stepped between you two to start talking to someone nearby. Then you ran off and Harry never knew what it was that you said.
It was a sore subject so even if your friends tried to talk to you about Harry and that night, you would quickly dismiss them, urging them to talk about anything else. Because you were so certain there was nothing to even talk about. He didn't harbor the same feelings as you, and that's okay, you couldn't force him to like you.
Over the course of the nearly ten years since that happened, you would be lying if you said you didn't listen to his music at all or notice him on tabloid covers. It was very hard to fully avoid someone that famous from your hometown who is still friends with your friends.
Though, you did a pretty good job if you did say so yourself. Through the rollout of his first two albums and the many invitations to his concerts, you always respectfully declined, saying you had too much to do to spend a night with screaming fangirls pining over the same man as you.
"Y/N, c'mon, it'll be fun! You haven't had a proper night out in a long time," Lynn, one of the few remaining links between you and Harry, and also your best friend, said. She pouted her lips, clasping her hands together and holding them under her chin to really emphasize her puppy-dog look. She had seen this trick far too many times with her students that she's immunized.
You shook your head, continuing to fold your laundry. "Sorry, babe, I'm just not feeling up for it. Concerts aren't m'thing."
Lynn scoffed, "No, his concerts aren't your thing. Which, in my opinion, is crazy because he knows how to put on a good show."
"That's great but I'm still not going."
"It's a free ticket!"
"Sorry."
It was the same fight for years. You just didn't want to go no matter how much your friends hype him up.
With his third album, however, your opinion slightly changed. Release day came and you picked a few songs to listen to. You liked them all which wasn't a surprise, but then you heard 'Satellite'.
You had no reason to believe it was about you because surely you weren't that lucky. But then you listened to it again and again. You got a new life, am I bothering you?
You called Lynn immediately. You had to know if someone else had the same thought. "I think so. I mean, he's been asking about you a lot lately, so I wouldn't be surprised."
"What do you mean he's been asking about me?"
"What else could that mean, Y/N?"
You sat in silence for a moment biting on your bottom lip. "What have you told him?"
"We've been telling him you 'aven't got time with anyone anymore because you only care about work."
"Lynn-"
"It's true, babe. You can't tell me it's not."
I can see you're lonely down there.
You laid in bed that night, staring at the ceiling. Before the phone call ended, Lynn said he invited you lot to his One Night Only show in London. She told you not to give her an answer yet and to actually think about this one before going off and dismissing everyone again.
You didn't think though because the next morning as soon as you woke up, you agreed to go. Just this once. For the experience. That's all.
You were so nervous when the day finally came. You asked if you would be seeing him before or after the show and Lynn said, "Probably both. Take a deep breath, it'll be fun."
You were let backstage when you arrived, escorted to a lounge where Harry and his family already were.
You nearly stopped in your tracks at the sight of him. It was a while since you’ve last been this close to him — but honestly, it wasn’t until you saw his face that you realized you truly have missed him.
You can’t decide how pathetic that is just yet, so you opt to get a drink from the mini bar set up before getting the chance to embarrass yourself.
However, Harry had also spotted you right away. He nearly leapt up from his seat when he saw that you actually took him up on his invitation. He remained cool though, casually getting up and making his way over towards you.
“Y/N, hi, I’m so glad y’decided to come,” Harry spoke behind you, causing you to jump a little at the suddenness. You turned around, nearly at the same distance when you last confessed your feelings. You got a small little flashback to that time but quickly disregarded it, giving him a small smile before reaching over for a hug.
“I figured it was time to see just how good you are,” you laughed, making him give a small chuckle in return. Without either of you realizing, the hug lasted a good while. You just stood there in each other’s embrace because this was a moment long in the making. You had every right to embrace it — and him.
And when that moment came that you both realized you should probably let go, you did; but not completely. Your hands remained on his shoulders and his on your hips as you stared into each others eyes, trying to read whatever emotions you could.
Was this good? Was this what you needed? Could you tell if he’s missed you as much as you have him?
You think yes is the answer to all of these questions. You both shared a small smile before completely distancing, waving him goodbye as he was urged to make his way to stage.
Lynn was watching the whole thing from across the room. Little to your knowledge, Lynn told Harry what happened that night all those years ago. How you confessed your feelings and was heartbroken because it seemed like he didn’t even care that you told him.
He did care. A lot. But by the time she told Harry, you had already began your distancing, opting to never seeing him again, despite him wanting to talk a few times. So he moved on just like you did, or so he thought he did (or so you thought you did).
But in that very moment, you, Harry, and Lynn knew that this was the start of something beautiful, this was the start of something that should’ve happened a long time ago. And when he goes on stage tonight to sing that special song, he’ll be looking for you, singing it for you.
Spinning out, waiting for ya to pull me in.

angsty part two hmm. well maybe it can have something to do with whatever the heck was going on at electric umbrella studios. maybe girly is there helping out bea (we can pretend maybe she’s doing stuff with jack and not matty for ease of everyone’s heart lmao) then there is that little listening party or whatever where taylor and matty are seen together but maybe girly’s heart couldnt stand to stick around for very long so she leaves early. maybe in this dream matty pulls his head out of his ass and decides he will do anything and be anything that girly wants him to be because this thing with taylor is not doing it for him either
ok! edited the request slightly. and it doesn't have a happy ending because actually i'm a messy bitch who lives for drama. please note: THIS ISN'T ACTUALLY CANON IN THE D WORD UNIVERSE IT'S JUST A COLLECTIVE NIGHTMARE. ok. lol. happy new year. enjoy <3
gone four weeks, part 2 (d word matty x reader angst)
“oh my god, hi! you came! oh, thank you so much!” taylor pulls you into a hug, which you reciprocate warmly; you've no problem with her, after all. “and you look amazing! your hair! those shoes! it's a new look for you. i like it.”
you smile. “thank you, i just fancied a bit of a change. and thank you for inviting me! i was so touched when i got your message.”
“matty said it was your favourite of my albums - i couldn't not have you here.”
what the fuck?
“oh, he did?” you try to keep your face and voice steady. “that was nice of him.”
taylor nods. “it was the first thing he said when i first wondered if anyone would even come to a 1989 listening party - you would, if you were around. thank god margaret ran into you last week and told me you were!”
you murmur a “yeah”, in response, too busy reeling from the sudden emotional pain in your heart to reply properly. blinking a couple of times, you look back towards the front door of the studio to see more people coming in. “taylor, i'll catch up with you later, yeah? let you speak to… oh my god, i'm at the same party as kendrick lamar? fucking hell.”
she laughs, squeezing your arm. “no worries, babe. i'll see you later! matty’s… somewhere, if you want to catch up with him”.
not bloody likely. “cool. see you!”
you smile politely at kendrick, who returns it (!!), before heading off into the busy room. there are people you recognise absolutely everywhere you turn, but nobody you really know, more just celebrities you'd be worried about embarrassing yourself in front of. no sign of jack, or margaret, or even matty - not that you particularly want to see him, to be honest, but a familiar face (one not from your tv screen, that is) would definitely calm you down.
of course, so would a cigarette.
pulling your cigs and lighter from your bag, you nudge the side door open with your hip and step out into the alleyway and still-warm evening air. and then, almost immediately, you wish you hadn't. because, standing with his back to you - although that makes no difference, you'd know those back muscles and that head of hair anywhere - is matty, talking to jack and margaret, all three of them smoking.
fuck. this was an awful idea. but you can't turn back to go inside now, because jack's clocked you; he’s beaming, waving at you, shouting “sprout! get over here and smoke with us!”
despite yourself, you smile, wandering over and allowing yourself to be enveloped in a hug from the man and his fiancée. “wish you'd stop bloody calling me that, jack.”
“never,” jack replies, kissing your head as he releases you into margaret's arms. “you're sprout, and he's cabbage.”
“whatever - hi, mags,” you kiss your friend's cheek as she breaks apart and settles her arm around your waist, before reluctantly meeting your ex's gaze. you're irritated to see that he looks good. like, really good, something-twinging-between-your-legs good. get a grip! “matthew.”
“alright?” matty smiles at you, but it doesn't reach his eyes. “almost didn't recognise you. hair's shorter.”
you shrug. “wanted something different.”
“sounds like you.”
the snide comment slices through you. unlike last time, though, you don't tear up; you fire right back at him. “well, i'm at an age where i can afford to experiment.”
matty frowns, while jack and margaret burst into giggles. the latter kisses the side of your head. “god, you’re funny. i can't believe you were in the city all this time and you didn't tell us! i miss hanging out with you.”
“i was busy,” you place a cigarette between your lips, shaking hands trying and failing to successfully operate the lighter. matty wordlessly steps forward and does it for you - your cheeks burn as much as the cig does. “thank you.”
“don't,” matty waves it off, taking a long drag of his own cig before looking at you again. “so. you haven't been back home?”
“not since the last time you saw me,” you ash the cig, pointedly looking down at the ground. “there hasn't been any work for me to do, so there's nothing keeping me there, really.”
matty scoffs. “typical, you prioritising your job.”
“well, it's what you pay me for. you should be happy i care so much about my career, really, matty,” you smile, saccharine as summer peaches, before turning to jack and margaret. “anyway, how's wedding planning going?”
jack breaks into an excited soliloquy that you can only half focus on, hoping you're timing the oohing and aahing and awwing at his fiancée’s enthusiastic interjections right; most of your attention, you hate to say, is focused on the man opposite you, clearly - to you, at least - upset. the familiar guilt begins to gnaw at your ribcage, and you're thankful when margaret checks her watch and begins to usher you back inside.
matty, though, has other ideas. he touches your elbow, so lightly you barely feel it, and yet your body reacts as if he's punched you. “can i talk to you alone for a minute?”
panicked, you turn towards jack, who nods. “you still have a few minutes. i just need to go in to set up. see you in there!”
shit.
once you're alone with your ex, you move to brace yourself against the wall, folding your arms. “what?”
“why didn't you tell me you were in new york?”
“why would i?”
“well,” matty's voice falters; when he speaks again, it's almost a whisper. “i don't know. maybe we could've, like, gone for a drink. or you could've come down here to hang out.”
“again, why would i?” you tilt your head. “no offence, mate, but hanging out with my ex and his new girlfriend isn't exactly my idea of a fun time. or just hanging out with my ex full stop.”
“thanks for that,” matty grimaces.
you sigh. “look, i know you well enough to be able to read your cryptic fucking subtext. i've been alright, matty, i really have. i've been with friends.”
“you don't have any friends in new york.”
“and how the fuck would you know that? honest to fucking god,” you snap. “i didn't tell you everything about me…”
“i know that well enough.”
“...but, if you must know, one of my friends from home opened an exhibition in tribeca. orla.”
matty nods. “we went to her london opening together before… us, didn't we?”
the memory feels distant, as if from another life, but it hurts all the same. “yeah.”
“i would've liked to have gone to her show here, too. she's good.”
you smile genuinely for the first time, pride for your friend stronger than the fucked up pot of feelings you have towards matty. “it was really something. i helped set it up, actually. was fun.”
“really?” matty laughs; something cracks inside you when he does. “yeah, i can see you being good at that, actually.”
you look at the ground, still smiling, but less now. “been thinking about switching to it full-time. curation and stuff.”
“oh,” matty sounds crestfallen. you peek up at him to find that he looks it, too. “well… if that's what you want to do, i s'pose you should look into it,” he checks the time on his phone, while your heart sinks impossibly deeper. “it's starting soon. i'll head in now, and then if you-”
“wait thirty seconds before i follow you? yeah, i know the drill,” you smile lifelessly. “least you won't have to worry about that if i get a new job, yeah? you'll likely never have to see me again, let alone risk being seen with me.”
“i- anyway,” matty clears his throat, turning quickly away from you. “i should go.”
“okay,” the door closes behind him before you can even get the second syllable out, and there you are, alone again, in the suddenly-cold night air. you shakily exhale your cigarette for the last time, stubbing it out on the wall and stamping the butt with your high heel for good measure; once no trace of the flame remains, you go back inside.
for the rest of the night, part of you wishes you hadn't bothered. while hearing your favourite album is truly, genuinely brilliant, the experience is marred somewhat by your ex sitting in the seat opposite yours with taylor's head on his shoulder: you can't quite lipsync along to this love or clean or you are in love without your lips beginning to tremble, the new song now that we don't talk genuinely makes you nauseous when you figure out the lyrics, and actually hearing matty's voice on a vault track is painful beyond words.
but still, you clap, you fake smiles, you cheer for taylor and jack and the work they've put into the production. it's not easy, though, and you're thankful for the distraction when your phone buzzes with an invitation while you're alone at the drinks table grabbing another champagne.
“now i know you're not about to entertain a man who sent you an i miss you, come over text,” taylor’s voice sounds scandalised from behind you.
you turn, grinning, smile dropping slightly when you see she isn’t alone. “don't worry, i'm taking the piss out of him for it as we speak…”
“good.”
“...but i am gonna go and see him, in a minute,” you finish, looking down at your phone and giggling when you see a reply. “if that's alright, that is.”
matty raises his eyebrows the way he does before he opens his mouth, but taylor beats him to it. “look at you giggling at him! of course! go! but first,” she gently drags you to a nearby sofa and settles onto it, patting the seat beside her; you take it, while matty awkwardly settles himself on a footstool in front of you both. “tell me about him.”
“you really want to know?” you aren't quite sure which of them the question is directed at. taylor nods, and judging by matty's expression he's also curious, so you sigh and keep talking. “well, his name is michael. he's a playwright. we met through friends. he's lived in new york his whole life. he seems slightly obsessed with me, but in a good way - so far, at least. he's very sweet.”
“a playwright? that's cool,” taylor grins. “what does he look like?”
“a bit like andrew garfield, actually,” you laugh, looking down at your phone again. “and he's offering to meet me at a bar, so it's probably time for me to be on my way.”
“sure. have fun, stay safe,” she pulls you into a hug; you see matty wince, out of the corner of your eye. “thank you so much for coming. when do you go back home?”
“not until the end of the month. i don't know if i'm actually going on the festival run, yet,” you shrug. “but i'll go home before it, just in case.”
“it's a lot, isn't it?”
taylor, babe, you don't even know the half of it. “yeah. it won't be easy.”
she hums. “we should hang out before you go. nothing crazy, just dinner or drinks or something. like, something fun, before you have to go back to keeping a record label running,” she nudges matty, who smiles quickly but continues looking at the floor. “i'll call you, okay?”
“that sounds good,” you stretch. “right, i really should go - the bar is a twenty-minute walk from here and i said i'd meet michael in fifteen.”
matty tuts. “he's knowingly letting you walk alone to meet him at half ten at night? no. absolutely not.”
you roll your eyes. “for god's sake, i'll be fine. i'm an adult!”
“yeah, babe, but still,” taylor’s eyes are wide. “take a car! for our peace of mind, at least.”
our. you do your best not to shudder, and smile instead. “if you're sure…”
“she's sure,” matty nods. “get it to take you back to your… whatever it is you're staying in after your drink, too.”
“i mean, i'm going back to his,” you look matty dead in the eye when you say it, and the sadness that fills his is impossible to miss. christ, what is his deal? “but thanks. anyway,” you hug taylor before you stand. “thanks again for tonight. i'll see you soon,” you nod at matty. “and i'll… see you at finsbury, definitely. maybe sooner. i don't know. there'll be an email soon confirming what's happening. bye.”
much to your chagrin, matty stands too. “i'll walk you out. make sure you actually get in the car - i know what you're like.”
for fuck's sake. “alright. bye, taylor!” you wave as you move towards the door.
“bye, babe!”
you walk quickly through the corridors, trying to keep some distance between you and matty. annoyingly, though, he matches your pace, and speaks. “so… michael.”
the vitriol practically drips from his tongue. you scoff. “what about him?”
“tell me more about him. what’s he like?”
“he's my age,” you pointedly don’t look at matty when you say that, but you hear the way his breath catches in his throat. the guilt begins gnawing again; you keep talking to distract yourself from it. “he's ridiculously american, which means he doesn't get my sense of humour sometimes, but as soon as he found out i lived in london he took the piss and started calling me ‘princess’.”
the word leaves your mouth before you can stop it; as soon as it does, you bite the insides of your lips together, guilt spreading to every bone in your body. tentatively, you look round at matty, who's stopped walking in favour of looking at the ground and clasping his hands behind his neck. everything about him radiates hurt, and it only worsens when he quietly speaks. “he calls you what?”
you can't bring yourself to say it again. “you heard me, matty.”
“wish i fucking hadn't,” your ex looks up at you again, and you know he's about to verbally lash out; he looks exactly the same as he did before you split. “you really let him call you that? my name for you?”
“think you lost all rights to that the day you dumped me, to be honest, mate.”
“fucking hate it when you call me that. stop it.”
“well, i'm sure as shit not going to resort to what i used to call you, am i?”
matty laughs mirthlessly. it's the worst sound you've ever heard. “no, you've got michael for that now.”
“no, i haven't,” you're loathe to admit what you're about to say, but you really want him to feel bad. “haven't slept with him yet - or anyone, for that matter, since you broke up with me,” you glance at matty, who looks rightfully sheepish, and decide to just fuck with him even further. “but maybe i will tonight. s'about time i felt good about myself.”
“you know, you've been really fucking snide today. i don't know what i've done to deserve it.”
you stop dead in your tracks, turning to face him in total bewilderment. “well, aside from the whole, y'know, dumping me at the first sign of disagreement, you fucking started it with the arsey comments today, matty. sounds like you? fuck off.”
he shrugs. “but it does. you don't want what i want, so… why bother keeping this going?”
you huff, pushing the door to the staircase open. “i never said i didn't want to get married and have kids, by the way.”
“what? yes you-”
“no, i didn't,” you smile sadly. “all i said was that i was unsure, and because it wasn't me immediately saying yes to something for the first time in our relationship, you took it as a no.”
matty's shaking his head. “no, that-that's not-”
“yes it is, sweetheart,” the tears are beginning to prick at your eyes; matty's too, you can see. “that's what happened.”
“but you freaked out so much…”
“because you sprung it on me, out of the blue! come on, matty,” you can feel your jaw trembling. “you would've done the same, if a partner had asked you that question when you were my age.”
matty sniffles. “please stop bringing up the age gap, darling.”
the pet name enrages you; it's agonising how natural it sounds coming from his lips, and even more painful how automatically your body reacts to it. “well, i can't not, given that it's what fucked us up, in the end,” you take a deep breath, and walk out the side door onto the street. it's fairly quiet, you're relieved to see. “besides - i thought you liked it? that was my appeal, wasn't it? being young, and pretty, and naive, so fucking naive. a meek little toy, something you could play with however you wanted without fear of it rebelling against what you wanted. because that's really all that matters, isn't it, what you want? course it is, because when that was threatened, you stopped wanting me.”
hot tears are hitting your cheeks with increasing speed, but your voice somehow stays strong, unwavering, controlled; the same can't be said for matty, who's crying just as much as you. “no, no, that's not true, not at all, please don't say that.”
“but that's what it feels like,” your voice cracks into a sob. “you didn't even want to talk to me about it. you were just... fine with letting me go. i didn't think you could ever be so cruel to someone you claim to have loved, once, matty. especially not someone who loves you as much as i do,” sniffling, you wipe your eyes and open a car door, quickly telling the driver the address of the bar before turning back to matty. “i appreciate you getting taylor to invite me tonight, but i think it was a mistake; we can't be friends, you and i, we really can't. i'm sorry, it just… hurts,” you check the time. “i need to go. take care.”
it's too warm in the car. you roll the window down slightly. you can hear matty crying from halfway down the street.

WHY DONT WE FALL IN LOVE ? - jean kirstein
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: you and jean are brought together by a shared love of music, is that all there is or is there something more below the surface?
warnings: jean x black!reader, fluff, jean is definitely an alt rock/ grunge enthusiast, jean and reader are down bad for each other but won’t admit it, ayesha and corinne win the award for best wing women, get you a man who truly cares, the format is weird my bad
a/n: this was written for @honeybleed’s 90’s rnb event! congrats naj, you deserve everything and more!!
Tumblr media
it was another day at the record store, where you worked part time during the weekend. you loved your job, talking with customers and bonding over your shared love for music and records was one of the main highlights of your day. of course there were some customers who were rude and pretentious but you didn’t let that deter you from providing a good experience for your customers.
the faint sounds of dreams, fairytales and fantasies by asap ferg played in the background as you were organising new stock, humming the lyrics to yourself while doing so. you were so deeply engrossed in your task that you didn't register jean's presence near you. jean was one of your favourite customers, he was a world away from the regular customers that you were so accustomed to dealing with.
when you first met him, you immediately assumed that he'd be annoyingly pretentious, condescending and snarky—a characteristic you were used to seeing on the daily. but one day he came up to the counter while you were working and you absentmindedly had your finger ready to point to the 80’s rock section, not registering the look of confusion on his face.
"what are you pointing to?" he asked, brows furrowing in confusion. you felt your cheeks flame with embarrassment, “i just assumed that you-anyways how can i help you?" you replied with a smile, trying to break the awkward tension.
he looked around sheepishly, the tips of his ears flushing a faint pink. "uhh... honestly i don't know, do you have any recommendations?” he asked, with a level of shyness which you found quite cute.
his naivety to music/good records astonished you, considering he looked like a cross between a heavy nirvana fan and a country music enthusiast. after a long conversation with him, you gave him three albums to listen to, along with your number because you wanted him to tell you if he liked the songs or not.
since then you've developed a friendship with jean despite your two best friends/coworkers, ayesha and corinne saying otherwise. you’ve always denied it but lately, you’ve started to feel some type of way about him. suddenly you’ve began to notice his dimples when he smiles, the faint freckles he has on his face or how his eyes are more of a hazel colour in the sunlight—friends usually notice these things about each other right???
jean cleared his throat, snapping you out of your reverie. “y/n, you good?” he said, giving you a once over to make sure that you were okay. you felt your face heat up and you silently thanked god that he was unable to see you blush. “yeah i’m good.” was all you managed to reply with.
a minute of tense silence passed between you both, either of you waiting on the other to break the silence between you both. “can y’all stop eyefucking each other, you’re making me sick!” corinne yelled from the counter, scaring you both. the tips of jean’s ears turned a light pink from embarrassment.
“you left your bonnet and your scarf at my place the other week.” he said handing them over to you. “i’ve washed them for you, i’d thought you’d like that.” he said, the last part coming out quieter than intended. “we still on for saturday?” he asked, his gaze locked on yours, “yeah of course.” jean smiled before responding, “cool, i’ll see you then.” he walked off, waving you goodbye which you returned.
you tried to avoid ayesha and corinne for the rest of your shift but they cornered you as soon as you left work, dragging you to a nearby cafe. “so you and jean huh?” ayesha teased, taking a sip of her drink. you sighed and rolled your eyes, pretending to look interested in the menu in hopes that ayesha would drop the question.
“guys, i might order—hey!” you protested as corinne snatched the menu from your fingertips. “there’s nothing going on between me and jean.” you finally spat out after a moment of silence. “we’re just friends.” your friends shared a look that said they weren’t buying it. “so why was your bonnet and scarf at his house then?” corinne pressed further, and you genuinely felt like you were being interrogated for a crime you didn’t commit. “i slept over at his place, its not a big deal.” you said nonchalantly, drumming your fingertips on the table.
“we all saw the way you two were staring at each other, and you really want me to believe that you guys are just friends?” ayesha added, corinne nodding in support. “it’s okay to admit that jean thee pony has got you weak in the knees, you know.” you snorted at her nickname for jean. “i hate you guys.” you sighed, staring out the window dramatically. “and we love you too, y/n!” they said in unison, pulling you in for a hug.
Tumblr media
“y/n, your white boy is here!” corinne shouted from the hallway. you were nervous, you’d spent an hour getting ready for today and you were still unable to quell the nerves in your stomach. you debated on taking a rain-check but decided against it. you quickly added the finishing touches to your hair and makeup and headed out. corinne gave you her thumbs up of approval as you left.
jean’s plan to act cool completely evaporated once he saw you. you were gorgeous in a way he couldn’t comprehend, he tried to maintain his composure but as always his face betrayed him, unable to hide the blush that spread across his face. “you look gorgeous, y/n.” was all he managed to sputter out. you were surprised that you had him fumbling over himself like this but you found it cute.
“you look great yourself.” you replied, taking him in. from the fresh trim, to his outfit, to the cologne he was wearing, everything about him made you feel giddy inside. “where are you taking me today?” you said, hopping into his car. his gaze lingered on you for a second before he cleared his throat, “its a surprise.” he said, sticking his tongue out at you whilst turning on the ignition.
the last few minutes of the car journey, jean told you keep your eyes closed. you eyed him weirdly, but did it anyway because you trusted him. his hand remained on the small of your back as he guided you to the destination. “are we there yet?” you asked, becoming increasingly impatient, he responded to you after a moment of silence. “open your eyes.” he whispered in a low voice sending chills down your spine.
you opened your eyes and you turned to him in disbelief “how did you—i’ve been trying to book a reservation here for ages, how!” jean placed his jacket on your shoulders, noticing the way you were shivering. “the owner is a family friend of mine, plus he owed me one.” he said coolly, trying to not make it seem like a big deal. “let’s go inside.” he took your hand in his leading you into the restaurant. the interior looked gorgeous with it being fairly modern as beautiful ceiling fixtures hung above you.
you were led to your table which was on a second floor that away from everybody else. jean pulled out your chair for you letting you sit down before he did. you opened the menu scanning it to see what appealed to your tastes. whilst you were busy trying to figure out the menu, jean kept stealing glances at you. he couldn’t help it, even when he was trying to read the menu, his eyes kept drifting back to you.
you grew shy under jean’s gaze and used the menu to cover your face. jean chuckled softly, gently putting down the menu to the side. “why are you hiding your face from me, beautiful?” your face heated up at the pet name. “you make me nervous, i cant help it.” you said feeling quite bashful, he took your hand in his, tracing light figures on your palm. “believe me when i say i’ve been nervous this whole time.” you both laughed at that, it helped to diffuse the awkward tension between you both knowing that you were both nervous as each other.
dinner flowed smoothly after that as you grew comfortable with each other again, the usual banter and jokes resumed and you truly felt at home with jean. apart from the silence that was shared when you were eating, you were talking non stop and even at times when you felt like you were saying too much, he looked at you with so much adoration, wordlessly telling you to keep going. you’ve never felt so relaxed during a date before it was weird not having to condense parts of you to seem likeable when it seemed that jean liked every part of you.
one of the reasons that you wanted to dine at the restaurant for so long was for its infamous beach views. the moon hung lowly in the distance as you and jean walked down the beach, hand in hand as you talked about everything and anything. he suddenly broke out into a sprint heading straight first to the water, you had no choice but to follow him. you shuddered as you walked into the cold waters trying to find him. jean pulled you towards him making you shriek as you felt his cold hands rest on your waist. “why did you do that!” you smacked his shoulder playfully, he laughed in response. “didn’t mean to scare you, beautiful.”
he pulled you even closer, you were now breaths apart which made the moment more intimate. “how can i make it up to you, hm?” he asked softly, his eyes boring into yours as he held you in his arms. “i think i know just the trick.” he smiled softly before he picked you up and pressed his lips against yours gently and for a moment the world disappeared around you leaving you and jean in your own bubble. his lips were surprisingly warm considering how cold his hands were. “you’re forgiven.” you smiled as you pulled away from him, brushing the wet strands of hair away from his face. “good, because i wouldn’t want to be on your hitlist.” he said, laughing as he finally carried you out of the water.

Part.1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She didn't really want to go into the shop, the shop with the eternal darkness as her mother called it. It was just a last resort for her father's birthday because she didn't have time to buy a present. But now she was here a few metres away from the record shop.
She could still hear her mother practically throwing her out of the house to look for a present. Apart from the fact that she had almost no idea what her father's bands were called, she didn't quite seem to match the outfit either.
Because it was still relatively warm in late summer, she had put on her white summer dress with embroidered daisies and a white cardigan, an outfit that not only showed off her favourite flower, but also brought her what felt like the only joy today.
But when she stopped for a moment in front of the first shop window and saw the customers inside, she knew she was definitely dressed wrong. Like a Ying and Yang she thought and seriously considered going back home and changing to avoid any beatings or attempts on her life.
Because like almost everyone in town, she believed that the metal fans had something to do with the church fires. Apart from the prejudices, she had never listened to the music. She knew that she was as good as lost.
Stopping in front of the next shop window, she saw the silver chains hanging inside, enclosing the new albums. The soundproof covers were mostly dark but she found it somehow fascinating in its own way.
Before she looked past the black fabric and saw that inside, next to the customers, the whole wall and the entire shop was kept in black. Only the individual album covers gave the shop a little colour, which was swallowed by the black. It won't be so bad, she thought, knowing the effect the metal fans had here.
She had seen the group walking around a time or two, she could still smell the beer, cigarettes and weed outside the shop. She knew that most of them were avoiding them.
Taking a last breath, she walked to the door and opened it. Immediately she was hit with a mix of smoke, wood, dust and beer mixed with the loud music playing in the shop.
She wasn't quite sure whether to cough, spin around and walk back out, or just pass out and let the ambulance drive her out of here. Just get it over with she thought to herself and went to the first shelf with the sound panels. Looking through the alphabetised compartments, she kept her gaze down.
She tried to block out the other shoppers and avoid contact as much as possible. But despite the loud music that could be heard coming from the shop, she could still hear the other shoppers talking. In the corner of her eye, she saw the salesman walk around behind the braid and step in her direction.
She was just about to turn the record around to look at the songs when he took it out of her hand. ,,The flower shop is one street over, Daisy," she heard the black-haired man say, looking at her dismissively.
She knew she should have been angry with him for his behaviour, should have listened to her mother and kept away from such people. But it was different, instead of hatred and rejection she felt fascination. Fascination about his appearance and looks.
The long, black, slightly wavy hair, the black clothes with the leather jacket that clung to his body to match the ammunition belt. The thing that completely captivated her, however, were his eyes. The bright blue eyes that seemed to be the only non-dark thing about him. It was like the infinite sky, as if she could look at him forever.
As if he had her in his hold. ,,I know where it is, but that's not why I'm here," she replied and tried to reach for the album. But the unknown man pulled it away from her and threw the record to his colleague, a man with long brown hair who sat down with it on a couch and watched TV.
She looked past the black-haired man and recognised Evil Dead. ,,Did you hear that, Faust, that's why the little flower isn't here?" he asked amusedly to the brown-haired man, who chuckled but didn't look away from the television. ,,What is she here for?" asked someone else who came out of a door.
He also had long brown hair and almost a confident grin on his lips. She shuddered when he looked at her. It was definitely a different look from the black-haired man. Not so much interested as almost obsessive. Rolling her eyes, she turned away from him and went to another shelf instead.
She tried to ignore the stares of the three and continued looking for an album for her father. If only they knew she thought, biting her tongue to swallow a comment. Running her fingers over the albums she found a name that sounded familiar. ,,Scorpions" she mumbled and took out the album, she remembered well how her father had talked about the new album.
At least now she had an idea what she would buy him. She heard the laughter of the three as she walked towards the checkout. She stopped only when the black-haired man stood in her way again.
Saw how amused he was that she was getting more annoyed. Like a game of cat and mouse, he seemed to enjoy dragging it out. ,,Do you treat all your clients like this?" she asked him, clutching the album in her hand tighter so as not to lose it.
But this made the black-haired man smile before he stepped aside and bowed slightly to show her the way. ,,Only the customers who are really sexy" she heard him murmur and felt the goose bumps spread over her body.
For a moment he seemed too close to her. For a moment she felt his hand over hers before he pulled away from her and walked around her to finally stand behind the cash register.
Handing him the plate, she saw the one with the brown hair go up to the black-haired man and take it from him. ,,Scorpions is a disgrace, even a doll like you should know that...get lost" he hissed and seemed about to smash the record on the counter.
Angered by his cheeky and unkind manner towards her, she reached into her pocket and hammered a cash note onto the braid before snatching the album out of the surprised brown-haired man's hand. ,,Fuck you and your fucking shop you miserable cheeky bastard. It's not even for me, it's for my father, just fuck off!" she snapped at him.
Before turning on her heel and giving the three of them her middle finger before slamming the door behind her. ,,How can you be so rude?" she cursed outside as she made her way back to her house to finally get to the birthday party. Hoping that the cake would lift her spirits. She did not hear the door she had slammed open and close again.
Only when someone grabbed her wrist did she realise that someone was behind her. ,,What!" she shouted at the stranger and saw herself about to strike the brown-haired man. But she stopped and saw that it wasn't him. It was the black-haired one with the lovely eyes. ,,Here, you forgot your change," he said and put the money in her hand before looking around slightly nervously.
Surprised by him looking at her hand, she put the money in her pocket and gave a ,,Thank you", not expecting him to chase her for it. ,,No problem...I hope you don't take his words seriously, he's just an asshole" he apologised for his friend's behaviour in a calmer tone. He didn't make fun of her anymore and she believed his words.
Gave him a small smile as a thank you before she answered, ,,He's just an asshole like you said, it's okay". Silence fell between the two of them, not only did she seem to be starting to find it uncomfortable, but she could also tell by his slightly uncertain look that he seemed almost nervous. ,,I'm the owner of the shop, Euronymous by the way, and that asshole was a member of my band Mayhem," he said suddenly and she saw the pride in his gaze.
As he himself smiled slightly and she now knew exactly who was standing in front of her. Knew exactly where she was and when she had snapped at him inside. ,,True Norwegian Black Metal" she repeated his words and saw him looking at her in surprise.
Heard his amused giggle which made him seem kind of cute. ,,I didn't think a daisy had such good taste," she heard him say before he reached out to her dress. She felt him tracing the embroidery with his fingers. Not breaking eye contact she felt herself getting lost in his eyes again. As if he knew exactly what effect he had on her.
She felt him squeeze a little harder, almost deliberately, to test how far he could go. ,,I just know what I like," she said quieter and faintly than she had intended. As if her head had switched itself off and her body reacted on its own. Before he pulled away from her after a moment.
Knowing he had her. Knowing she would come back. ,,Then I hope you like my fucking shop and come back after all," he said goodbye to her as he bowed slightly again, making her smile. ,,Maybe I'll come back again sometime, it would be nice not to be insulted this time...but thank you Euronymous" she added before giving him a final wave before turning around to head back home.
But she was wrong, the cake didn't lift her spirits, she knew it was Euronymus who had lifted her spirits. Unaware that it would not be the last time she would find herself in his record store again.
Cool With You
Contains swearing and revolves around anxiety.
Tumblr media
Kim Minji for Vogue Korea. She glowed through your screen, as she did in real life, in stark contrast to the shadows rippling on your walls as you scrolled through the article. Her new song was on repeat. Quiet, but enough to fill the emptiness of the room. She was beautiful, you thought.
"My grandma always asks if I'm having a hard time and if I'm having fun. I didn't think much of it before. It just seemed like a normal way to ask how I was doing. But now, whenever I hear it, I reflect on myself a little more and my heart warms up, too. So I also try to ask the important people in my life the same thing. 'Have you been having a hard time? Are you happy?'"
You hear the words in her voice. She was so sweet, you thought.
Then the end of the song. A brief moment of complete silence before it repeats. A brief window for another voice to cut through.
Have you been having a hard time? Are you happy?
Your own. In your head.
Yes, you are having a hard time. You haven't been happy in months.
"Not again! I was just reading a fucking interview! What the fuck is wrong?"
If you're so important to her, why hasn't she asked you the same thing?
"Just stop. Just stop."
You're losing it. I know you are. I know you.
The song starts back up. It goes, "You know me like no other," but you didn't know who was talking anymore.
"No, I'm fine! I'm fine. I swear I'm..."
Suddenly the darkness of your room felt suffocating. You stand up quickly to turn on the light. But when you do the clarity is equally uncomfortable. All your insecurities, your fears, your worries in plain sight. You just want to hide. Turn off the light again. Sit back down.
"Ok, this is fine! I know how to deal with this. Just breathe slowly. Deep breaths through the nose. And count. One. Two."
Three. Four. Five. All this counting but when will you get your life together?
"Three. F-f-our..."
You try to get the words out but your lips won't cooperate. You can't feel them anymore. Just a tingling over your face. So instead you scream. In anger. Where is this coming from? Why couldn't you stop it? This didn't make sense. Stop feeling this way. This is stupid. Just be normal, you thought.
Of course it doesn't make sense. You're fucked up. You know that. Everybody does. Don't try to rationalize it because you won't be able to. You're not good enough for that.
You can't feel your legs. You can't feel your hands struggle to pick up your phone.
Wow. Are you really going to ask her to come over now? She's busy. Probably exhausted. The album is coming out tomorrow. Why the fuck would you bother her?
"Hey, babe! What's up?" The sound of her voice tethers you to the ground for a moment. Holds you close in the dark room.
"Minji, I... Hi!" You feign composure. But your chest was aching. "I-I'm good! I just wanted to hear your voice. H-How are you? Are you busy?"
"Well, I just got back from work..." she trails off. "Are you ok, baby?"
You're suddenly aware of your breath hitching. And you know she hears it, too. There was no point pretending. You needed her right now.
"Min... could you come over, please? I... can't..."
"Ok, I'm on my way." You hear her voice jump. Then her footsteps. She's running. "Baby, listen to me, ok? I'm on my way. Count down from 100 very slowly. And breathe deeply. If I'm not there yet, just count down again but I promise I'm coming. I love you."
She was so sweet, you thought, as your hands lost their grip on the phone. You smiled with tears running down your face.
"100. 99. 98. 97."
You know that's pointless right? The more techniques you use to try and stop it, the more you'll just remind yourself that you're a mess.
"96. 95. 94. 93."
Look at you go.
You clench your fists. Then your teeth. You still couldn't feel either of them.
"92. 91. 90. 89. 88."
You focus on breathing. Slowly. Lie down on the sofa and stare at the ceiling.
"59. 58. 57. I like 57."
You heard no reply. You felt calm. But you could never be too sure.
"17. 16. 15. 14."
Almost there. Where is she?
Shit. Focus. You shut your eyes and start whispering forcefully.
"She'll be here. 13. 12. 11. 10. 9. 8."
You hear your door unlock. Open your eyes and quickly stand up. A little too quickly. Your legs are still numb and you stumble. But she's there to catch you.
"I'm here, baby. I'm here. I brought our bear, too. Look!"
You look up and there she was. Your girlfriend and your bear. And the stuffed toy you both loved. She was smiling but her eyes were drowning in concern. She was so beautiful, you thought. She came all this way, carrying a huge toy, in the rain, after a very busy and tiring day, just for you. She was so sweet. She was so good to you.
She's too good to you. She's too good for you. You don't deserve this. You're not beautiful like her. You're not kind like her. You'll wear her out.
You couldn't take it anymore. You burst into tears in her arms. Breathing short and shallow.
She wraps one arm around you to pat your back and uses her other hand to pull your head towards her, stroking your hair softly.
"Baby, it's ok! I'm here now. I'm here. You're going to be ok."
You feel the warmth of her words penetrate the chaos of your mind. But there was still so much to get through. So much you were still feeling. Still so far from the ground. You cling to her tightly in desperation.
"Just hold on to me, ok? I'll take you to the couch. Let's go. Take your time."
She lifts you slightly. Not enough to carry you but enough to aid your trembling legs. She lies down first and beckons you to stay next to her.
"Come here. Let me spoon you, baby."
You do as you're told. Anything to keep you grounded. You knew her arms were the safest place in the world.
"Let's look at the ceiling together, ok? We've done this before. Tell me five things you can see in the room."
"Well... there's the ceiling... and the walls..."
"Mmhmm..."
"The door..."
"Yeah... that's three."
"I see your hands."
"Ok. One last thing."
"But you have two hands."
You can't see her face but you could tell she was smiling. She kisses your cheek.
"One more thing, babe."
"I see... your music video still playing on my laptop."
"Great. Ok. How about four things you can feel?"
"I can feel your hands. Your breathing. Your voice when you speak. And your warmth."
"I'll always keep you warm, babe." She kisses your cheek again. "Ok, now tell me three things you can hear."
"I can hear you. I can still hear Cool With You. And the rain outside."
"Now two things you can smell."
"Umm... I can smell your perfume." You pull a bunch of her hair close to your nose. "And your shampoo."
"Do you like the scent?"
"I do. I thought you didn't usually wear perfume, though."
"I felt like it today." Another kiss on the cheek. "Ok, for the last step, I came prepared. I brought chocolate. It's my superpower after all." She takes a small bar of chocolate out of her pocket and puts it in your hand. "What's one thing you can taste?"
"I taste this magic chocolate bar made by my Powerpuff Girl. This is really good actually."
"You must be hungry, baby. Want me to order food?"
"Yes, please."
After all that you're gonna make her order food?
You flinch. She knew what that meant. She holds you tighter.
"Hey, you're ok. Nothing to worry about. Just your girlfriend buying her favorite bunny some dinner."
She holds her phone in front of both of you. "What do you wanna eat, bunny?"
Even making simple decisions was hard. You flinch again. She holds you steady.
"Ok, ok. I'll choose for you." A kiss on the other cheek. "Done."
You feel yourself melting into her. Her warm embrace calming the storm in your mind just a little.
"Minji... thank you so much for this. For everything. For just being you. I don't know what I'd do without you..."
"Anything for you, baby. You know I love you, right?"
"I do. It's just I... Sometimes I don't believe it. Like, I'm just..."
She sits up and turns you towards her.
"Shhh. I know what you're going to say. Don't let that part of you even have a voice, babe. It doesn't deserve any space in your beautiful brain. We need to shut it out. Whenever it gets in the way, just listen to my voice. And even when I'm not around, I'm right here in your heart. Remember my words. You just have to listen."
"Minji..."
"And remember, when you feel that anxiety building, find where it is, grab it and throw it away. Just the act of physically trying to pull that anxiety out of your body can help. Even if it's not something you can really feel with your hands, the effect is real. You learned this, remember? You can do it. I love you so much. Ok?"
"Ok..."
She hugs you tight again.
"Let's talk about something else! Did you like Cool With You?"
The shift in her tone briefly lifts your mood.
"I loved it! It was soooo good. So cool. You're so cool, babe!"
"Aw, thanks, honey! We worked really hard on it. Glad you enjoyed!"
"You always work so hard..."
The way you trail off lets her know what you're really thinking. What you were about to say. Again she knows just what to do and cuts you off with another question.
"Are you excited for the rest?"
"Of course! I'm excited for anything you do."
"And I'm excited to share it with you! I like sharing my life with you."
Slowly she was pulling you back down. You were almost there. You begin to remember what normal conversation was like. For a while you lie in silence. Nothing but the sound of the rain and the song still on repeat on your laptop. But you can still hear faint thunder in the distance. Both outside your apartment and in your head.
"Do you mind me asking what the trigger was tonight? You know I just wanna help."
"I was just reading your Vogue interview while listening to the new song and somehow it all just came crashing down. It never really makes sense when it starts. But I was just reading how you said you wanted to ask the important people in your life if they were having a hard time and if they were happy. It just triggered a spiral of thoughts. Immediately I was reminding myself I wasn't happy."
"So... it was me?" The sadness in her voice hits hard.
"No, no! Of course not, baby. It's all me. My biggest insecurity is that I'm just this ugly, unhappy person just dragging you down. Like, why can't I be happy like you? Why don't I have my life together the way you do? I can't help but compare cuz you're just so amazing and out of this world to me. And that's not on you. That's just something I have to work out myself."
"Hey, no..." She tries to stop you but it all comes rushing out.
"And you're so pretty. You're so sweet. You're so talented and successful. Like, there's literally nothing to fault about you. You just feel so perfect and I just feel so inadequate next to you. That's why sometimes my brain gets in the way and doesn't believe that you could love me."
You notice tears start to form in her eyes.
"I really hate when you talk like that about yourself. It hurts. Cuz you'd never talk like that about me. Or anyone else for that matter. Why be so hurtful to yourself..."
"I know, baby. I just can't help it..."
"No. You can help it." Her voice was firm now. "We'll work on it together. Do it for yourself. And for me, too. Because it hurts when you refuse to see why I love you and why there's so much to love about you."
"I know you love me. It's just that I get so scared all the time that you'll get sick of me or I'll just drag you down because I've been a mess lately. I want to be good enough for you but faking confidence or pretending I'm ok doesn't really work."
"But you are good enough! I know you haven't been well lately but you've always gone above and beyond for me. The word inadequate shouldn't even be in the same universe as you. And it's ok to be a mess! It's ok to not know where you're going yet. I just found my career very young but that has nothing to do with how good you are and how successful you can be. We may have different paths but that's ok! We're in this together. I'm with you to the end, ok?"
You knew she was right. But it was just so hard. As you nod weakly in agreement, she pulls you in for another hug. She speaks more slowly now. Gentle and caring. You feel her voice reverberate in your chest.
"I'm so excited for your future. You may not see it yourself but I know you're gonna be amazing. Because you are amazing. You just need to trust yourself, baby. The real you. The one who knows all the reasons you're wonderful and why I love you. Do you want me to remind you?"
She pulls away with a smile on her face. Her smile that could outshine a thousand galaxies. Her smile that could comfort you a million times over.
"Actually, you have no choice. I'm going to remind you. Let me spoon you again."
You eagerly oblige, falling quickly into the safety of her embrace.
"Close your eyes and just listen to my voice, ok? So, do you remember when you first came to Korea? When we first became friends and you learned Korean in a year just for me?"
"Yeah."
"What does that say about you?"
"I don't know..."
"You do know. It means you're smart, hardworking and dedicated. And a sweetheart. Now you say it to yourself."
"I... um... what do you mean?"
"You know what I mean. Say it to yourself like you're complimenting a friend."
"I'm smart, hardworking and dedicated."
"Don't forget the last part."
"And I'm a sweetheart," you say, blushing.
"Yes, you are! Now remember when you started having a hard time and you reached out for help? You went to therapy and shared with me everything you learned there and what you talked about? You were at your most vulnerable and you still shared everything with me. That takes strength and courage."
"I have strength and courage." You pause. "This sounds cheesy."
"No, you're doing a great job, babe. Just keep going. Ok, now, remember when I was a trainee, whenever I'd have super long days, you'd come over to my place just to drop off some coffee or my favorite ice cream? What does that say about you?"
"I'm thoughtful and caring," you say, smiling this time.
"Good! You did it without me telling you. That's your confidence building! And do you remember all the gifts you got for me, my members and my family? There's too many to count."
"Does that mean I'm kind and generous? This feels weird. This just feels like I'm showing off."
"But who are you talking to?"
"You."
"No, you're talking to yourself. I've heard you give all these compliments to me before. And many more. Now you're just complimenting yourself. And it's not like you're lying to yourself. You know everything is true. You just need to be confident and admit it to yourself out loud. Take care of yourself like you take care of me all the time, ok? Be kind to yourself like you're kind to everyone around you. You need to be your friend, too."
"I'll try. But doesn't it sound like showing off? Like I'm too proud of myself?"
"You're just reassuring a friend! Telling them all the ways they're worth loving. It's not like you're going around telling everyone how good you are."
"Is this how you're always so confident, babe?"
"I guess!"
"You're incredible."
"So are you! Incredibly cute I might add."
You're blushing again. In the dark she couldn't see it clearly, but she knew you well enough to know that you were. Somewhere in the room the song repeats again.
"Do you feel cool with me, baby?"
"I really do, Min. You really do know me like no other. The way you helped me tonight - it's like you could read my mind. It's just like you said. 'What's the best?'"
"너의 옆에 내가 있을 때."
"Exactly. When you're here with me I feel safe."
You open your eyes. Saying those words out loud was the last thing you needed. You landed. She brought you all the way back. You were home. And she could tell by the way you were smiling.
"I'll always be here for you." She smiled in return. "Cuz I know you're always there for me, bro."
The first chuckle out of you that night.
"How are you feeling, baby?"
"I think I'm good, Min. Thanks again. You're the best. The best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you so fucking much."
"Then don't swear at me, bro!"
The first real laugh out of you that night. And she echoes it.
"Do you hear me, baby? Do you hear me laughing with you?"
"I do."
"You hear just me?"
"Yes. Just you."
"Do you see me? Focus on my eyes."
You turn around to look at her and see the way her eyes sparkle with encouragement. Her endearing smile pulling you out of the dark. Into the light with her.
"I see you." You smile. "But it's a bit blurry cuz I've been crying."
"That's ok! Can you feel my hands?" she asks as she gently takes both your hands in hers and caresses them slowly. "I've missed holding your hands."
"I can feel you. But my fingers are still a little tingly. And shaky."
She pulls your hands towards her and kisses both. "That's ok, too." She smiles again. "And you know, we listed reasons to love someone, but at the end of the day, love isn't a rational thing, either. The strongest love has no reason. Who knows why we fall in love? All I know is that I fell in love with you because you're you. And that'll always be reason enough for me."
What would Edward Nashton think of a goth girl? I want some headcannons (nsfw too if you would like)🖤
I actually put the song creepy girls by ghost town on my playlist for him so this is very fitting for me
(I'm sorry if this is inaccurate or offensive to goth people i'm not goth myself i'm a humble emo)
I think Eddie would be alternative himself. Though I think he’d be more of a metalhead or emo, he just doesn’t dress like it. I feel like when he was a kid he was drawn to that kind of music because he was taught it was “devil music”
He would find goths gorgeous. He’d be a little jealous of their confidence in dressing however they want. When seeing someone attractive he can’t help but stare, which has probably had people creeped out by him.
I think it would be cute if he met a goth while at a vintage shop, browsing for vinyls and cds. They’d work there and be super helpful and sweet to him, making him a bashful mess.
He’d shyly compliment their outfit and makeup, and they’d call him cute in response. He would die.
He asks what music they’d recommend, and they beam with excitement as they pick out an album for him, insisting it’s their favorite of all time. Imma say it's The Eternal Deep by Mephisto Walz
He’d take it home and listen to the cd obsessively, knowing it’s a piece of them. It’s a glimpse into their personality. He’d fantasize about them while dozing off to the music. The one song he can't stop thinking about is I Wanna Be Your Dog
He’d frequent that shop a lot more just to see them. They’d become friends, and soon enough they’d ask him out. He would be an absolute mess over it, and they’d think his shyness is adorable.
I think they’d naturally take the lead in the relationship, being the one who initiates most of the affection. A simple peck on the lips would turn him beet red.
They’d tease him a lot, knowing they can get a reaction. He loves it but he would never admit it.
During their first makeout session, Edward would quickly learn he really really likes having lipstick marks left all over him, but he’d be apologetic over ruining their makeup, which he finds so beautiful.
He’d be a mega bottom for them for sure. They’d be a bit of a brat in bed, teasing and degrading him a lot mixed in with cute sweet praises. They’d call him “good boy” “good puppy” and it would drive him crazy
They’d ask him to top just for once, and he flips like a switch, going full on Riddler mode. Definitely a lot of brat taming and man handling going on. They’d love it, but be shocked at this new side of him.
Personally I think they should put him on a leash and order him around like a dog. also edge him until he's so painfully eager and cant stop himself from spilling into them dfsjdfsjdsj
they'd jokingly say "bark for me" and he'd do it without hesitation and they'd laugh because they didn't expect him to actually do it
im an edward nashton puppy boy truther
New! Dad Aaron Davis...Baby Steps
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a baby/ toddler Aaron would play you music to calm you down, you became so clingy as a baby you would grip onto his shirt for dear life when he tried to put you down, so much so he ended up getting a baby harness so he could walk around with you on him and still use his arms, and sure he thought it looked a bit stupid, but he thought strollers were to big and bulky, but when he was and about in the streets he was always so cautious of people walking or bumping into him, when it was cold he would make sure you were wrapped up snugly and would zip up his jacket to cover you in up until your head so you could see your sourundings, and so people were less likely to walk into him.
He would dress you up in little bows n shit, and would always turn to Rio for help when he felt lost, for exsample...
Aaron: Rio help the baby is rolling around in circles help Rio: That's good Aaron it means she's learning Aaron: She wont STOP!
When he wanted to work out he would put those wrist weights on your hands so you couldn't move because he was scared you'd fall off something.
Felt very left out of the single, or new parent community, when he went too play groups Mom's etheir assumed your Mom was dead, or that Aaron was 'letting her have a day off' and when they asked him, even though he didn't think it was anyone's buisness he would tell them she was dead, and once they heard that women would almost swoon for such a sob story.
REFUSES for you to be an Ipad baby, fully smacked one out of your hand when some other kid's Mom handed you one, would force you to entertain yourself with doll's...and you weren't mad that just meant you got more dolls.
As a baby you despised Uncle Jeff, you would scram and cry and whack him with your tiny hands until he handed you to your Dad or Rio, she would assure him it was nothing personal but Jeff just thought you hated him.
Once you got older, Aaron was not well liked by other parents once you entered middle school, Aaron played A LOT of rap music round the house and you obviously picked up some words that other parents would not like, on the way to school in the car he was playing...
First off, fuck your bitch and the clique you claim Westside when we ride, come equipped with game You claim to be a player, but I fucked your wife...
And while you and Aaron went along with the lyrics he pulled up outside your school and placed a hand on your shoulder.
Aaron: "Don't be repeating ay of this at school yeah?"
Y/n: "Sure Dad"
*Later that day after Diaspro tried to put gum in your hair*
Y/n: "DIASPRO! You goldie locks bugged eyed bitch, built like a fucking mars bar, you put gum in my hair I'll cut all yours OFF"
*Silent room of shock*
If it weren't for you Aaron would not be a closeted Barb, he would NEVER listen to Nicki with anyone else in the house unless it was you or Miles, and whenever she came out the a new album you two would have a small listening party.
Hey, I was wondering if you could write a warren rojas x reader one shot where the reader is apart of the six (and Italian) and suggests a song for the album and Billy just disregards it. Warren is very angry and has to comfort her. But she ends up doing the song with another singer once the band breaks up and becomes very successful in her own country and warren is a proud husband
I love your writing, thanks 💕
Innervated Love
pairing: warren rojas/rhodes x reader
a/n: hiii tysm for ur request. I kind of tried to do this request justice since I loved it sm so I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved writing it.
tw: swearing, billy is his own warning, drinking mentions
description: being a songwriter was in your blood but billy just didn't want to see it, thankfully warren was around.
for @djatsappreciationweek day one: favorite character - warren rojas my unproblematic king <3
Tumblr media
Y/N: I loved being in the band, I would never trade that experience for the world but Billy… fuck yeah he was a real fucking asshole.
You were sitting on the floral duvet that covered the bed you shared with Warren on his boat. Somehow he had convinced you to move out of the dingy old place that was the house in Laurel Canyon to his slightly cramped houseboat… it was an easy yes. You and Warren were always a will they won’t they kind of situation until after the first tour. That tour changed everything and left you with one of the best men in the world as your boyfriend.
Currently you were working on getting some finishing touches done to an array of lyrics that had evolved into a song over the course of the past couple of weeks. Ever since you picked up your first guitar the words that wove themselves into songs had quickly followed. Not that you ever showed anyone your little creations.
That was until Warren found a few of your songwriting journals when you were unpacking boxes. And let’s just say he was incredibly excited. He eagerly became the first person to hear every single one of your new creations.
So later that night as he finished listening to the most recent piece of your little side gig, Warren grants you a huge smile before carefully taking off your guitar strap and giving you a huge hug, followed by a rather passionate kiss.
“I’m assuming you liked it then.”
“Oh you have no idea, baby.”
“Well good cause that one was written about you.”
“I will gladly be your muse for the rest of my days.”
“Aww stop it you big sap.” You say as you lightly slap his shoulder before giving him a quick peck and taking another swing of your beer.
“I think I should be calling you the sap since you wrote a song about me.”
“Most of my songs are about you.”
“You are only further proving my point.” You snorted as you settled into his arms and felt him pull you tighter against his chest as a soft breeze blew over the boat.
Warren: Y/N is a genius. She’s one of those incredibly talented people that just has that spark, you know.
You took a deep calming breath as you nervously fiddled with one of the corners of the paper where your song was carefully printed out. It was a love ballad but with obvious rock and roll influences, you had even tried to sneak in a few things you had noticed from the array of punk records you had started to collect.
It felt as if you were back in school, about to give one of those presentations that you felt would end the world if you ended up messing up. Billy wasn’t known for being one who listens to anyone other than Daisy, which was also a rare occurrence. He was bullheaded and controlling about every little detail on the album. So this was like trying to talk to a brick wall, but you were still determined to at least try.
At the sound of Billy walking into the recording room you nervously stood up and eyed Warren who gave you a reassuring thumbs up.
“Hey Billy.”
“Oh hey Y/N.”
“I was wondering if I could talk to you…”
“If this is about your bass lines, I already told you that you can change them if you want for the riff.”
“Uh no this is about well this.” You kind of shoved the paper into Billy’s hands and his eyebrows raised as he quickly skimmed over the lyrics and notes.
“What the hell is this?”
“Well since I know you were looking for something extra for the album I thought I would suggest this.”
“Yeah well, uh it’s not what we need. And I finished up a song with Dai-”
“Yeah it’s fine Billy. Whatever, I’ll start setting up.” Billy just nodded at you before walking off to the side to talk to Graham. Warren just looked at you and titled his head, you just shrugged. That was when you realized you had never really seen Warren truly angry. It was as if a secret rage suddenly brimmed in his eyes. You quickly made your way over to your boyfriend and gave him a hug.
“Hey look it’s fucking whatever okay, don’t worry about it.”
“That song was amazing mi amor, it deserves to be on the album.”
“You don’t think, I think that too.”
“I am so sorry mi amor.”
“Thanks Warren.”
“Do you want me to punch him?”
“Nah, better not cause more trouble than it’s worth.”
“Okay fuck him then.”
“Yeah fuck him.”
Warren: Y/N deserved to have that song on the album. I’m not just saying that because she’s my wife, I’m saying that because that song was a chart topper. And that is what it became, even without the addition of Daisy and Billy singing it.
Y/N: So after the band broke up, Warren convinced me to send the song around to some of my producer friends I had made through Teddy. After that it kind of blew up.
Warren: Honestly I couldn’t be more proud of what Y/N has built. I mean to be part of 2 of the most popular bands in the world has got to be some kind of record.
You let out a laugh at Warren’s choice of words as you enveloped his hand with yours as the camera zoomed out to allow you into frame.
Y/N: It was kind of crazy that people actually wanted to listen to my music. So yeah I formed a little band with a few acquaintances and I worked out of London for a few months. Our first single, the song I wrote for Warren, was an instant hit. After a few weeks the album came out and well I was suddenly catapulted to fame once again.
Daisy: Y/N deserved everything she ended up doing. We’ve even done a few features on each other’s albums.
Y/N: So yeah I ended up with my own band, the best husband in the world and two bundles of absolute joy. And I owe it all to that song. Innervated Love will always be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.
Warren: You are still such a sap.
Y/N: Oh you love it.
Warren: Of course I do.
