Peter’s Emergency Contact
Summary: Peter meets the Avengers. It doesn’t go well.
A/N: I’m a terrible person tell me to finish my wips. Also I’m sorry about May :(
P.s. it’s been a long time since I picked this fic up so there are some continuum issues, please forgive me.
Part1/ Part2/ Part3/ Part 4
Part 4
Putting it mildly, Peter was fucking bored. It was summer, but both Ned and MJ were on vacation with their families. And on top of that, it was way too hot to go out and do anything, including patrol. He was, however, on stand by if Karen came through with anything that required Spider-Man’s assistance.
A few floors down, the ex-Rogue Avengers were doing god knows what. They had been pardoned a month earlier and moved back into the tower. Peter had yet to meet them, though Tony seemed okay with them. But Peter didn’t really trust them.
Well, okay. He more-so didn’t trust Steve. Even though the others fought against Tony too, it was Steve that scared Tony. Peter noticed minute things that Tony would do whenever the Captain was mentioned. He’d fidget, or grab his left wrist, or rub his chest, or bite the inside of his cheek. Mostly stuff that would fly past most people.
But Peter wasn’t ‘most people’. Officially, Peter was Tony’s child. After a car accident killed May about eight months prior, Tony legally adopted Peter. Since then, Peter has learned all of Tony’s tells. Wanting to get to the bottom of these anxious ticks, Peter hacked his way around FRIDAY’s systems to figure out what had happened.
Peter wasn’t one to give into rage, but that day he spent a majority of his time in the gym or swinging through the city because he was basically vibrating from the emotion.
But they lived in the same tower, and maybe Peter was desperate for something to do, so he decided to head down to the common room where FRIDAY had informed him that a few of the Avengers were hanging out.
The elevator dinged and Peter walked out to the sight of… Christmas decorations?
“What the…” He breathed, looking around the room.
“You’re not Stark,” Natasha said, suddenly appearing in front of Peter.
Peter had to literally fight down his fanboy excitement to greet the literal Black Widow!
“Uh, no. I mean, technically I am but-”
“You’re Peter, right?” Was that a smirk? Peter couldn't tell.
“Uh, y-yeah. How-?”
“I have my ways of finding things out,” Okay, now that was a smile, “I haven’t told anyone though. So you’ll have to introduce yourself to them.” She said as she tossed her head to the side, motioning to the others on the floor.
“Oh, right.”
Peter followed Natasha farther into the room, gaining the attention of the rest of the crew including Wanda Maximoff, Vision (who Peter had actually met before), Clint Barton, Sam Wilson, and Bruce (who Peter had also met before as he and Thor showed up about two months after May’s death).
“Uh, who’s the child, Nat?” Clint asked, sitting on the kitchen island.
Natasha looked at Peter, who began picking at the hem of his shirt. A nervous tick of his own.
“Uh, hi, Mister Barton. I’m Peter. Uh, Peter Parker. Or, Peter Parker-Stark now I guess? I’m-”
“Wait, excuse me, Parker-Stark? Since when the hell did Stark have a child?” Sam cut in.
“Let him finish,” Wanda berated the man, who seemed to currently be baking cookies, “Go on,” She said to the other teenager in the room, smiling kindly.
“Right, so uh, Tony hired me as his personal intern like two years ago, and we got pretty close. My aunt died last December and since she was my last family, Tony took me in and adopted me.” Immediately after mentioning his aunt’s death, almost everyone in the room looked at him with pity.
“I’m sorry kid,” That was Clint again, “Life sucks sometimes.”
“I’m adjusting,” Peter replied, but he quickly changed the subject, “Why are you decorating for Christmas? It’s almost a hundred degrees outside, not to mention it’s July.”
“Ah, that was my idea!” Sam called from the kitchen where he was currently pulling cookies out of the oven, “Since we’re on house arrest until further notice, I thought we could entertain ourselves with Christmas in July. It’s something we used to do when I was younger.”
“Oh, that sounds fun!”
“You’re welcome to join, kid.” Bruce called from his spot on the couch.
“Really? Thanks guys!” Peter jumped onto a seat at the island.
“Have a cookie, man.” Sam said, holding out a plate of santa shaped sugar cookies.
“Aw sweet!” The boy grabbed one and took a bite, “Thanks!”
About fifteen minutes passed by when Peter’s senses upped a few notches.
“Any cookies left, Sam?”
Peter nearly choked on his current cookie and jumped up to see Steve Rogers walking out of the elevator.
“Yep, a few plates full. There’s sugar, gingerbread, and chocolate chip.”
A few seconds passed before the super soldier noticed Peter.
“Um, hello. I’m Steve, you are?” He offered a hand for Peter to shake.
Peter tried to respond, but the room suddenly began spinning. He gripped onto the counter to steady himself.
“Son?” Steve asked.
“Don’ call me tha’,” Peter tried to glare, but he wasn’t even sure he was controlling his face properly.
Out of nowhere his legs gave out, and black began overtaking his vision.
A chorus of exclamations rang out as everyone ran over to tend to the boy. Fortunately and unfortunately, Steve was the closest and was the one to grab Peter before he hit the ground.
“No! Let me go!” He struggled against Steve’s arms to no avail.
“Calm down, son, I’m just-”
“What happened?” Bruce asked, feeling for Peter’s pulse.
“He just collapsed.” Sam answered.
Then Peter began seizing.
“Fuck, Sam, start a timer to time the seizure. Steve, pick him up and bring him to the medbay with me. Natasha, call Tony.”
“Why are we calling Tony?” Steve asked, following Bruce into the elevator.
It was silent for a moment where Bruce and Nat exchanged glances before Bruce answered, “He’s Tony’s kid.”
“Since when-”
“Later Steve. One thing at a time.”
***
“This better be important. Like, life or death because you pulled me out of a meeting and Pepper-”
“Shut up, Stark. Something is wrong with Peter.”
Tony was quiet for a moment before growling back, “Explain, Romanoff. Now.”
“I don’t know, Tony. He came down and introduced himself and was hanging out with us when he just collapsed and started seizing. We’re taking him to the medbay now-”
“Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. I’m in DC. I’ll have to come back with the suit but it’ll still take me an hour.”
“What do you want me to-”
“Do not let him out of your sight, Nat. I don’t want him waking up alone and you and Bruce are the only two I trust enough to watch him. Keep me updated, I’ll let you know when I’m there.”
“Got it.”
***
“He’s showing symptoms of anaphylactic shock,” Bruce said to the other two occupants after injecting Peter with an anticonvulsant, “ FRIDAY, is Peter allergic to anything? Override code six one three three nine seven five.”
“Peter is allergic to peppermint, and as well has severe reactions when in close vicinity to insect repellents.”
“Was there peppermint in Sam’s cookies?”
“One moment, Doctor Banner.” A few seconds passed before the AI came back with an answer, “Mister Wilson has supplied that the sugar cookies had peppermint extract in them.”
“Peter had several of those,” Nat said quietly.
“Okay, okay at least I can work with that. Steve,” Bruce called to the soldier while pulling out an epinephrine pen, “I think it’d be better if you waited with everyone else. Thank you for helping.”
Steve wanted to argue, but he looked at Nat who seemed to agree with Bruce.
“Okay. Let me know if you need anything else.” He offered before walking out the door.
As soon as the door shut behind him Nat spoke, “If Peter hadn’t accidentally poisoned himself I’m pretty sure he would have punched Steve.”
Bruce finished injecting the medicine and pulled the pen away from Peter’s thigh, “He still might.”
Natasha helped Bruce fix an IV drip in Peter’s arm in silence.
“You don’t have to stay, I can watch him until Tony gets here.” Bruce offered.
“He won’t be here for another forty five minutes. Plus, I’m supposed to keep watch. Stark’s orders.”
Bruce nodded in understanding, “His vitals are starting to return to normal. I’ll go update the others.”
“I’ll call Tony.”
***
Peter felt like he’d been hit by a train.
Had he?
Honestly he couldn’t remember what had happened. He opened his eyes to see Tony next to his bed (why was he in the medbay?) talking to someone on the other side of his bed. Soon his ears stopped ringing and he heard another hushed voice. Probably whoever Tony was talking to. Why did Tony look upset?
Peter turned his head to see Steve standing there.
And
What?
Without really having his wits about him yet, Peter jumped up and shoved the man back, pulling and knocking over his IV stand in the process.
“Woah, Pete! Calm down-”
“What? You didn’t get to kill him in Siberia so you thought you’d come and finish the job while I’m out?” Peter practically snarled.
Steve’s eyes blew wide, shock and shame overtaking his features, “Son, I-”
“And stop calling me that!” Peter shoved again, sending the captain into the wall, leaving a sizable crack.
“Peter!” Tony yelled, grabbing at the kid’s arm, “Calm down, bud. He’s not here to hurt me, or you for that matter. Can you please sit back down before you give me another damn heart attack?”
Peter obliged but his eyes never left Steve, who looked to be in too much of shock to really say anything.
“Cap, let the team know he’s awake, will ya?” It really wasn’t a suggestion or a question, more like a thinly veiled disguise to get him out of the room before Peter decided he hadn’t had enough.
Nodding, Steve hightailed it out of the room, but not before looking back at Peter and offering a quick apology.
It was quiet for a few moments, in which time Tony set the IV stand back up and made sure Peter’s IV was still in place. Finally the older man spoke, “Pete, buddy, what was all that about? How do you know what happened in Siberia?”
Peter’s demeanor fell slightly as he came back to himself, “Wasn’t hard to guess.”
“Mhmm. Wanna try again? Maybe with the truth this time?” Tony said as he sat back down next to his kid.
Peter crossed his arms and looked down at the floor.
“I hacked FRIDAY,” He mumbled.
“I’m sorry, can you repeat that?” Tony asked.
Peter sighed audibly before repeating himself, louder this time, “I hacked FRIDAY.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Because you were beat up and withdrawn after we got back from Germany. Which, okay, fine. We weren’t in a place for you to tell me what happened. But then the pardon for them was beginning to go through and every time Steve was even mentioned, you had these reactions like you were nervous or something. And I wanted to know why. I already had a pretty good idea. Then I saw the footage and I just… I don’t want him near you..”
“Peter, buddy. Look at me, please,” Tony gently held the boy’s chin and turned his head so that he looked at Tony, “Thank you for looking out for me. But that’s not your responsibility,”
“Yes it is! I can’t-” His throat catches and a lump forms, tears making their way to the surface, “I’ve lost everyone because I couldn’t protect them. I can’t lose you too.”
Tony pulls Peter in for a hug, and cards his fingers through the kid’s curls, “It’s okay to cry, honey. But I’m not going anywhere. Remember that. The universe will have to personally fight me before I let anything get between us. Understood?” Peter nodded slightly, but clung to his father’s shirt as he cried.
Eventually Peter fell asleep in Tony’s arms.
“I love you, kid. I’m not going anywhere.” Tony whispered, placing a kiss on top of the curls on his kid’s head.
And yes. Peter did end up punching Captain America. We don’t bring that up.

Since you do Umbrella Academy now, can you do one where you visit Klaus in jail/the hospital/rehab and have to say your his spouse/partner in order to get in even though you're not actually together, but you wish you were so it stings?
A/N: Fake dating? I like the way you think ;) Word Count: 3255 Rating: M - references to drugs and rehab, swearing, self-depreciation
‘Guess who got thrown back in rehab’ calls were a not uncommon part of your friendship with Klaus Hargreeves, made as a courtesy so you’d know he wasn’t dead when he missed your weekly breakfasts. It would happen every couple of months when, in his impaired state, he pissed off a cop, or when he decided that the beds there were easier than trying to find one elsewhere (no matter how many times you offered for him to just move in with you he’d remained stubbornly against ‘becoming your burden’). He’d do the required time, get his sobriety token, and be right back where he started.
What was unusual was that this was not one of those calls, because you had already gotten one a few days ago and there was no way he would have been discharged, and for all the crap he pulled, he was smart enough not to get kicked out for misbehavior.
“Heeey Y/N!” his voice echoed, tinny and distorted, over your answering machine. “This place is swanky.” You tolled your eyes at his exaggerated tone. “They give us phone privileges and free time to do crossword puzzles or whatever ex-addicts do. Anyway, I’m very lonely and very bored and I miss you. You should come see me. Guests can come whenever, how weird is that? But they also do a big ‘family dinner’ on Sundays if you’d like to be part of something terrible. Love you! Come visit!”
You could hear the manic grin on his face as the message cut off with a slam. He didn’t mean anything by the words, he never did, but still they made your heart skip a beat. Anyone with half an ounce of common sense would know better to fall for their best friend, especially when he was a hopeless drug addict with, understandably, no desire to change his ways. And you knew that. Yet here you were, already mentally rearranging your schedule to let you go see him sooner rather than later, thoughts half-consumed by the idea that his gorgeous green eyes might have a special spark for you, shining on your account.
~
You shifted uncomfortably behind the woman at the reception desk ahead of you, fretting at the slightly frayed edge of your shirtsleeve, waiting for your turn to speak to the dour-looking man.
“Next!” he called gesturing for you to approach as the woman moved aside to sign in on a clipboard.
“Um, hi,” you said awkwardly, pressing your lips together. “My name is Y/N. I’m here to see Klaus…Klaus Hargreeves? He called me and asked me to come and visit, but I wasn’t home so he left it as a message and I don’t know if there are any other permissions I need or anything I was supposed to do first, he just said to come by…” you put on your most apologetic look.
He barely looked up from whatever he was doing at the desk behind the counter.
“Are you family?” you weren’t sure whether boredom or annoyance was the stronger emotion in his tone, only that it somehow carried both. “The first two weeks are limited to one designated visitor and they have to be family.”
“Oh…I…”
Your mind raced. Klaus’s message had sounded like he really wanted you there, and you were one of the few people who could say they put up with him long-term. His family were never there for him and basically saw him as a hopeless failure, so if they were the only company he was allowed to have then he would be spending his time completely alone, and probably disappointed that you didn’t stop by.
The receptionist raised an eyebrow expectantly.
“I’m his fiancé,” you blurted out before the thought could fully process.
“Fiancé?” he echoed incredulously. “Hargreeves didn’t mention a fiancé.”
“…our…families don’t like us much, so we keep the engagement secret. I mean his family doesn’t like me and mine…think…well…”
“That he’s a waste of space and you could do much better?”
“Excuse me?” you bristled at the way he sounded like he was stating the obvious.
“He’s here because he decided to mix a truly stupid amount of cocaine and ecstasy. I’m sure he’s every parent’s dream match for their child.” He rolled his eyes. “Wait here.”
He slapped a cardboard sign onto the counter that read “Please Wait, Someone Will Return Shortly” and walked briskly off down the narrow corridor.
The minutes seems to drag on like years as you waited, sure that your half-cocked story would be blown out of the water and you would be banned from the facility, maybe even escorted out by burly, terrifying security guards. You chewed anxiously on your lip, rubbing the skin of it raw.
Then, the man was back, sitting at his desk with a sigh.
“Sign this waiver.” He gestured at you vaguely with a clipboard.
You skimmed the document, noting that it mostly contained affirmations that you were not smuggling drugs, weapons, or other contraband to the patients in the facility or from them to other people, and signed it quickly, nearly throwing it in your haste to return it and get to Klaus before anyone caught on.
“Room 31, on the left. Visiting hours are over at 4pm. This isn’t the honeymoon suite at the Ritz, and Steve gets very angry when he makes his rounds and catches anything hinky.” The man waved you down the hall and you felt your face burn in embarrassment as you scurried away from him.
You stopped in front of the indicated door and hesitated, unsure whether you should knock or just walk in. The decision was made for you seconds later when the door flew open and a skinny blonde woman stumbled out, nearly crashing into you and staggering down the hall with a slurred and mumbled apology. You turned to watch her go, puzzling over how someone in rehab could seem so utterly sloshed and jumped when you heard someone cheerfully call your name. Turning back to the still open door, you spotted Klaus dangling upside down from the top bunk of the set of beds in the little grey room.
“Well don’t just stand there, get in here and give your fiancé a hug!” he laughed, arms outstretched.
A soft smile on your face, you walked over to him, closing the door as you passed. His arms wrapped around you, face pressed to your torso and soft curls tickling you. You tried not to blush as you returned the oddly positioned hug. After a moment, you both let go and he nimbly swung himself upright before dropping over the rail to stand beside you.
Gesturing dramatically to the man sleeping on the bottom bunk, very naked body only barely covered by a sheet, he shouted, “Y/N, this is my roommate Brady. Brady, my future spouse. Brady here has just gotten done having some amazing sex and will be out completely cold for the next several hours, don’t mind him.”
“Why are you shouting?” you asked, giving him a puzzled expression.
“What?!” you rolled your eyes as he rubbed at his ear and it became clear that he was, as usual, exaggerating. “Well as I just mentioned, Brady decided to hook up with one of the girls from the klepto hall, but decided to bring her here even though I was already occupying the room, and the two of them needed a truly heroic volume to drown them out. Frankly, it’s a damn shame we were warned against this visit having a conjugal nature, or I’d invite you to help me return the favor.”
He winked at you and you flushed cheeks hot with embarrassment and the knowledge of how easily you would have agreed to such a suggestion.
“Is there somewhere we can actually sit to hang out, or do we have to cram into the eighteen inches between your mattress and the ceiling?” you asked, looking more thoroughly around the room which held little more than the bunks, two sets of clear plastic drawers, and a wire shelf which held towels and toiletries not unlike what would be found in the bathroom of a cheap motel.
He held up a finger, indicating for you to wait, or possibly that he liked your idea, you weren’t sure which, and scrambled back up the ladder to his bed. A moment later he had stripped it down to the mattress and used the bedding (a sheet, a pillow, and a thin, scratchy blanket) to arrange a makeshift seating area in the corner.
He gestured to the pillow as if it were a grand throne. “For you.”
You sat, squirming a bit to get comfortable, and leaned back against the cool brick. As soon as you settled, he attempted to flop down beside you, long, leather-clad legs draped over your lap, and smacked his head against the wall in the process.
“You know Klaus, head trauma is probably not the best way to score an early release,” you teased.
He rubbed his head, wincing dramatically.
“I’m not trying to get out this time,” he said after a moment. “I’m really going to do it, follow the steps and get clean.”
You raised an incredulous eyebrow.
“I mean it. I don’t want to leave and get high again right away. I’ll…see someone or whatever about the ghost thing.”
“Who are you and what have you done with my Klaus?”
A strange expression crept over his face when you called him before his stubborn pout quickly returned.
“I’m serious, Y/N.”
“Okay,” you nodded, reaching out impulsively to take his free hand in both of yours. “I’ve always believed you can do whatever you set your mind to, and I’ll be here for you no matter what. But can I ask just one question?”
“Well sure, anything.”
“Why now? What’s different this time that you want to do this?”
“Technically that’s two questions.”
You narrowed your eyes. “And you’re deflecting.”
He shrugged sheepishly. “There’s…someone. They mean the world to me. And as Ben pointed out, no one wants an addict around, not long term. We just waste space and cause frustration. So I have to change if I want to be worth their time.”
“Woah, hey. Back up. You are more than your addiction. I am happy for you that you want to get clean, but you shouldn’t do it for someone else. For one thing, if they care about you, they’ll learn to accept that part of you and support you through it. Until and unless it’s the right time for you to get clean for you. Otherwise, you’ll end up hurting yourself, and probably self-sabotage, and it’s going to be worse in the long run. Or they’ll be your only reason to stay clean and if you lose them…”
“I…” he stared at you in silence, at a loss for words for possibly the first time in all the years you had known him.
“They make me want to be better though. They deserve better than the gutter trash, the absolute garbage, I’ve become.”
“Stop putting yourself down like that,” you growled in frustration. “It’s not helping and more importantly, it’s not true. You are funny and kind and give the best damn hugs in the entire world, even when with anyone else they’d be hella awkward. And that is worth something. Someone doesn’t see that, then you’re the one that deserves better.”
“Well…I’ve never exactly talked to them about it before, but I get the feeling they only see the best in me, somehow, and I want to be that version, their version…”
You sigh and nod. “Like I said, I’m here for you, no matter what. And I’m proud of you for wanting to make a serious try at sobriety, I hope that’s clear. I just…don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“I know. I love that about you, Y/N. You’re always looking out for me.”
He smiled softly at you, shifting to rest his head on your shoulder, making it so that he was practically sitting in your lap.
“So, do I know this mystery person?” You asked, returning his smile and absently running one of your thumbs across his knuckles. “Because if not, I insist on meeting them soon and assessing for myself whether they’re good enough for my best friend.”
Your voice felt forced, strangled by the lump in your throat at the thought. You cared enough about him to want him to be happy, but it still stung in the little, jealous part of your brain that he couldn’t open his eyes and really see you, find that happiness with you.
He was silent for long enough that you wondered if he had fallen asleep on you. But when you turned to check, you found his bright green eyes staring up at you in awe and adoration. You bit your lip as you met his gaze, his focus briefly drawn downward to it before returning to the rest of you.
“You are so beautiful,” he murmured, breath tickling the side of your neck and sending shivers down your spine. “And so fucking clueless.”
You shoved him playfully to hide the way your heart raced as it dawned on you that he returned your feelings just as strongly, but he was not deterred in the slightest. He turned to lean over you, a charming smirk plastered on his beautiful face, bracing himself with one hand pressed to the wall beside your head and the other still caught between your own.
“Do you have any idea how badly I want to kiss you right now, Y/N?”
You looked up at him through your eyelashes coyly. “What are you waiting for, an engraved invitation?”
His lips dropped to yours in an instant, a growl of desire escaping in the last seconds before you connected. Your hands slipped over his shoulders, toying with the curls at the nape of his neck, and his newly freed one rose to cup the back of your neck, pulling you closer. His tongue ran along your bottom lip before he nipped at it playfully and you parted for him, sighing happily into the kiss. Your tongues danced together, exploring, teasing tasting. His fingers tangled into your hair, and one of your hands curled to grip his shoulder, nails dragging against his shirt. You couldn’t think straight, hazily aware of the need for oxygen, but not caring, not when you had him, like this, finally.
Reluctantly he pulled away, laughing as you leaned forward, chasing his retreating lips, and the two of you gasped and panted for air.
“That was even more amazing than I could have dreamed of,” he sighed dazedly. “And believe me, I’ve dreamed of doing that a lot. And…more than that.” He waggled his eyebrows at you.
You laughed, shaking your head in mock annoyance at him and he pouted.
“Why haven’t you ever said anything before?” you asked. “We could have been doing that for ages.”
“Ages? I like the sound of that. Let’s start now.”
He straddled your waist and leaned in, your second kiss just as hungry as the first, but much shorter as you pulled back.
“You’re deflecting again.”
“I had hoped that ravishing you would be enough of a distraction you wouldn’t notice.”
“You should know me better than that,” you teased. “Just answer the question and we can return to the ‘ravishing’ sooner.”
“Is that a promise?” his brows arched flirtatiously and you rolled your eyes.
“Because, fundamentally, I am a coward,” he sighed. “I know you can do better and I’ve never done anything in my life to deserve someone even half as incredible as you and I was too scared to risk losing the one good thing in my life.”
“Oh Klaus,” you tilted your head to one side and looked at him a little sadly. “You could never lose me, no matter what.”
He smiled, hopeful and tender.
“And if we’re going to be together, you can bet your ass we’re going to work on that dreadful lack of self-esteem.”
“Later.” He waved his hand dismissively. “Right now, we’re doing the fun stuff.”
Grinning, you leaned forward to kiss him again, and you both jumped at the sudden, pounding knock on the door.
“Your visiting time is up,” a voice called, drill-sergeant loud even through the wood. “You have ten minutes to clear out before I throw you out.”
Klaus sighed.
“To be continued I guess,” you said, and this time it was your turn to pout, but he remained in his spot, seated over you.
“I’m not quire done with you,” he countered, voice low and seductive, pressing an open-mouthed kiss to your jaw. “And I can get a lot done in ten minutes.”
You felt him smirk against your skin as your pulse fluttered at the suggestion in his tone. Practically melting under his touch, you let him shift you so that you were more stretched beneath him, head tilted back to still rest on the wall and chest thrust slightly upward, opening up access to a wide swath of skin. His teeth trailed lightly down the column of your throat until he reached the point where it met your shoulder and bit down. The sound you made was somewhere between a yelp and a moan, and he chuckled, filing the sound away and resolving to try and draw it out of your again in future contexts.
He continued to lavish attention on the spot, alternating soft bites and suckling with soothing his tongue on the mark, while you ran your fingers through his curls, nails scratching against his scalp in a way that drew purring groans from his lips.
“By the way, you know,” he murmured, tracing kisses back up to the spot beneath your ear and from there along your jaw. “I’m all for getting married, but don’t you think you should at least buy me dinner first?”
“What?” you frowned, the cover story you had used to get in completely forgotten in the wake of all that had happened.
“I’ve never even been in a long-term relationship, so imagine my surprise when I was informed this afternoon that my fiancé was here to see me.”
“Oh. That. I, uh…I panicked. The receptionist said family only and that was the first thing I thought of.”
“The first thing you could think of was promising to marry me?”
“Oh shut up. He bought it, and you didn’t challenge it or he wouldn’t have let me in.”
“And boy am I glad I did.” He paused, drawing back to look down at you, eyes tracing your face as if memorizing every pore. “But I don’t mind it. I like the sound of it, the idea is quite nice actually…”
You could tell he was just speaking his thoughts as they came to him. Still it made your heart skip a beat and your face flush at how quick he was to leap to the idea of the two of you getting married for real, and how completely okay, more than okay, you were with it too.
“Slow down there Klaus,” you cautioned, placing one hand on his chest to rest over his heart. “Let’s stick to pretend, for now, and maybe we can discuss the real thing once you get out of here…”
He grinned, standing and pulling you to your feet before wrapping you in his arms in a hug that you never wanted to end.
“Deal.”

Scorpion's Roost
Solidarity, Texas
Horse hooves clopped softly on the hard desert earth. The rider pulled down his bandanna covering his mouth and nose and fluffed his ginger hair. Green eyes surveyed the land. "Woah girl." The rider tugged the reigns and the horse stopped.
The rider stepped off the horse and grabbed his gun. He checked the surrounding area for any hidden bandits or bounty hunters, but found none. Deciding that all was good, he grabbed his horses reigns and tied her to a nearby tree. The horse whinnied in protest but her rider shushed her.
"Hush, girl. We don't want any unwanted visitors here, not when we're so close to a town." Her rider petted her head. The horse gave a snort as he kneeled down. "This looks like a good place to camp out for t'night." He stood back up and started collecting branches and dead brush from the ground.
The horse watched as he set the pile on the ground, grabbed two rocks, and with a coin-flipping motion to the pile, fire shot from his hand and to the pile. The branches burned and fire crackled to life. The rider leaned back and smiled. "My brother taught me that one. He was good with fire."
A solemn expression took over the rider's features. He reached into his shirt and pulled out a locket. Inside was a small picture of a smiling toddler. He pressed his forehead to the locket and sighed. "I will find you brother, whereever you are."
His horse leaned down and nudged his head with her nose. Her rider looked up at her and kissed her nose. "It's alright girl. We're gonna continue findin' him in the mornin'." He gave her one last kiss then got up and picked up a nearby rock. Shrugging off his leather poncho, he placed the rock on the ground followed by the poncho. He laid down and put his head on the rock and looked up at the sky.
Millions of stars shined in the night, a few twinkling and some glowed brighter than others. The bandit sighed and closed his eyes. 'Brother, where are you?' He thought. The bandit fell into a dreamless sleep, his horse not far behind.
A little ways away, a bounty hunter was riding on his horse. In his hand was a 'Wanted' poster. "$150,000 for a bandit. Damn, what a criminal! All we know is that he has green eyes and wavy ginger hair. Be on the lookout, Nellie." The bounty hunter pat his horse and the horse snorted back.
After a couple minutes of riding, fire light came into view. The hunter squinted and gripped the reigns hard. "Lets go check this out." His hand moved to his gun on the horse's rump and the horse moved slowly to the light.
"Sh, stop." The hunter said and tugged on the reigns. The horse stopped and the rider got off. "Stay here, Nellie." He pat her head and tip toed to the figure on the ground.
As he got closer, he noted the ginger hair glowing in the firelight. 'This mught be him!' The hunter gripped his gun and stood right next to the man on the ground. He noticed a gun in a holster on the mans chest, and ever so carefully the hunter reached for it and slipped it out of its holster.
'Now you're mine.' The hunter kicked the man on the ground until he was awake. Green eyes opened and the hunter gasped. The bandit reached for his gun, only to find it in the hunters hand. "Your days if crime are over, Mark. Im here to deliver you for the  $150,000 reward." Both guns in his hands cocked.
"The ginger bandit, Mark, growled. "Over my dead body!" He got into a fighting position. "Then suit yourself, criminal." Two shot rang out in the night. A bullet found itself in the heart of Mark, the other barely missed his ear. His dead body flopped to the ground.
The hunter stood there for a moment, taking in his victory. Shock welled up in him. 'He was killed too easily. Is this some sort of trap?' He nervously went over the the body and shook it a bit. Nothing happened. Laughing, the hunter picked up the body of the bandit and went over to his horse, placing it on the back.
The bandits horse whinnied and stomped at the ground, having been woken up by the gunshots. The hunter walked over the horse and took off its reigns. "You're free now. Go on." He shooed off the horse and she reluctantly walked away. The hunter went to his horse and climbed up.
"Can you believe it, Nellie?! I shot the bandit that easily!" He grabbed the reigns and snapped them, and the horse galloped fowards.
The hunter rode until daylight, where they came across a town. The sign at the entrance read 'Scorpion's Roost'. The hunter passed the entrance and spotted a town's person working outside a shop. "You there! Where can i find the mayor of this town?" The town's person pointed to a good looking building a little ways off. "Mr. Roderick Jess McMahon lives in that building. You'll find him in there." The hunter waved him thanks and he rode to the good looking building.
The hunter hopped off his horse and tied it to a post, then walked up to the door. He knocked twice, and a little boy answered the door. "Hello son. Im looking for a Mr. Roderick McMahon. Does he live here?" Asked the hunter. The little boy scampered off, returning a few moments later with a frazzled looking young man.
"I'm Mr. McMahon, may i help you sir?" The hunter pushed back thoughts of this man being way too young and smiled. "Yes! Hi, im Jesse Anderson, and i believe i have found and shot the ginger bandit named Mark Callous." Mr. McMahon's eyed widened. "Please, show me immediately!"
Jesse led Mr. McMahon to his horse where the body was slumped over the back of the horse. He grabbed the body and flung it to the ground. Glassy green eyes looked to the sky and ginger hair settled around the bandits head like a red halo. Mr. McMahon studied the body and clapped the hunter on the back.
"Well done Mr. Anderson! The body will be hung in the town square shortly, but if you would follow me i shall give you your deserved reward." The mayor turned on his heels to the mayoral building and Jesse followed suit.
Word soon got around that the body of the ginger bandit was in this town, and those words reached the scarred ears of a bandanna and bandage clad loner. His left eye was in thick bandages, and tiny scars littered his face. He frowned under his bandana and went inside the building he was standing outside of.
Inside a short and pudgy man was arranging a wreath of flowers for a funeral. The bandaged man was mute, but the short man could understand everything the taller wanted to say.
"I have heard the words of the townsfolk. You think this body would be your brother, do you not?" The unusually high voice of the short man called out. The bandaged man let out a short but heavy sigh. The short man laughed. "I can feel your troubles, son. Go, look and see if this is your brother." The taller man hesitated, but quickly went out the door of the funeral parlor and to the town square where the body was just being hung up.
A crowd was forming, but they spread apart so they wouldnt be near the tall and bandaged man. With one look at the body, the bandaged mans good eye widened at the sight of his ginger brother hung by his wrists, dead for all to see. With a hoarse cry that sounded like shattering glass, the tall man ran towards the hanging sight and grabbed ahold of his brothers body.
Tears that havent been wept in years escaped the good eye of the tall man. Hoarse wails of anguish rose from his mute throat. The crowd sensed that this was a moment they shouldnt witness, and so they dissipated, leaving the crying brother, the mayor and the bounty hunter at the hanging grounds.
The bounty hunter stepped towards the crying man. "Sir, i dont know who you are but can you please not ruin my kill-" A giant hand suddenly wrapped around the throat of the bounty hunter. Fire raged in the tall mans eyes and the hand squeezed tighter and tighter. "You de-serve to die for what you done." The hoarse voice sent shivers down the spine of the bounty hunter. The mayor slowly backed away from what was about to happen.
The bounty hunter tried to gasp for precious air, but the hand wrapped around his throat was too tight and he went limp, dead by the hands of the tall man.
The hand let go and the bounty hunters dead body slumped to the dry earth, and the bandaged man turned towards his brother. He untied the binds on his wrist and carefully picked him up and rested him on his shoulder. He also picked up the body of the bounty hunter and walked towards the funeral parlor.
Inside the parlor, the short man had set up a table for the body with little piles of random items, including a small necklace with a strange symbol on it. The doors flew open and the bandaged man stepped inside the parlor. The short man walked over to the taller and helped him with the body of the ginger bandit.
The bandaged man carefully set his brothers body on the table, and the short man put the necklace on the chest of the dead man. "Put the hunter beside the table, we'll need him later." The shrill voice of the short man said. The taller plopped down the body of the hunter in a not so delicate manor. "Back away now, son. I dont want you getting caught in the cross fire." The short man shooed the bandaged man with a pudgy hand and the man complied, backing up a little bit.
The short man put a hand on the chest of the dead ginger and started speaking in tongues. Blackness flowed from his hand and settled around the ginger. The hair on his head was slowly becoming black, leaving no trace of ginger that was there before it. His skin got paler, almost pasty white. Little bits of the blackness started shooting everywhere, a couple drops unknowingly landed on the bandaged man and seeped into him. Then, everything stopped.
The short man lifted his hand up and the necklace was gone from the dead man's chest. The bandaged man took a step foward to study the body, when the dead man shot up into a sitting position. The tall man backed up in fright, and green eyes focused on the world around him.
"Brother? Kane? Is that you?" The dead man's hoarse voice called out to the bandaged man. The bandaged man, Kane, sucked in a breath and nodded. The once dead man slowly got up from the table and gingerly walked towards his brother, only to be engulfed in a big hug by Kane. "I... missed you too." He returned the hug.
The short man made quick work of cleaning up the table and kicking the body of the dead bounty hunter. "Paul?" The once deadman called out. Paul looked up at the two tall men standing side by side. "Thank you. For everything." Paul gave a short nod. "I did what had to be done."
The dead man looked at the bounty hunter. "What are you gonna do with him?" Paul looked down at the body and studied it for a moment. "If you want, I can show you how to prepare it for a crows-feeding." The dead man's eyes seemed to light up in wonder. "I would love it if you showed me."

House Isekai: A Realm Reborn - Part 1, Old Places and New Faces (1 of 2)
House Isekai ARR Masterlist Here
Tumblr media
Upon their return to Fodlan, Kazuma, Rean, Towa, and Aigis have found that it has changed drastically. Whether it was for better or worse, was unknown.
All they knew was to find Sitri, who had requested House Isekai's aid...
[Life at Garreg Mach Monastery - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]
Kazuma, Towa, Rean, and Aigis walked awkwardly through the crowds of students and guards, trying not to stare at their technology.
(Aigis) "Their devices seem...eerily similar to yours, Rean."
(Rean) "Arcus units and Soldats..."
Rean looked at the bipedal golems with swords and shields walking through the courtyard. It looked like students were trying to use them properly.
(Kazuma) "Soldats? Those things kinda like Valimar?"
(Towa) "Yes, but far easier to produce and a lot less strong, to put it simply."
(Rean) "How did they even get something like this? In our world, they took so many years to develop, alongside orbal technology..."
(Towa) "And their version of arcus units, didn't they look like the crystals from the Zanado tower?"
(Aigis) "Perhaps we should ask these questions to Sitri. Though, I am unsure of how to find her, since we do not have the proper clearance."
(Kazuma) "Hmph. Not to mention we aren't students, I'm pretty sure we're weirding people out just by being here."
Towa turned to where the Cathedral used to be, only to see a massive hangar full of the bipedal golems and guards from all three nations populating it.
(Towa) "The Cathedral was going to be my guess, but I don't think that's an option."
(Rean) "Maybe the listening hall?"
(Kazuma) "Are we even going to be allowed up there?"
(Familliar Woman's voice) "...Oh my goodness! It really is you guys!"
Everyone turned around to the woman's voice and were greeted by an old friend.
Tumblr media
(Kazuma) "Merce-! HOLY SHIT!"
Mercedes was accompanied by two of the massive golems, armed with a shield and lance just as big as them.
(Rean) "WOAH!"
(Towa) "EEP!"
(Mercedes) "Haha, oh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to frighten anyone!"
(Aigis) "It is amazing how that got behind us without anyone hearing them-"
(Rean) "U-Um, it's good to see you again Mercedes!"
(Towa) "AHEM! What are you doing here?"
(Kazuma) "More importantly, why are those golem things following you around?!"
(Mercedes) "I am simply a visitor, just like you four! Sitri thought it best to have bodyguards accompany me. Those bodguards happen to be the form of Knights."
(Towa) "...Knights sure have changed since we last saw them, huh?"
(Aigis) "Speaking of which, do you happen to know where Sitri is?"
(Mercedes) "Indeed I do! Would you like me to take you to her?"
(Rean) "Yes please."
Rean looked at the golems called "Knights" and couldn't help but feel nervous.
Now he knew how it felt to have Valimar follow around the old House Isekai.
(Mercedes) "Please, follow me!"
Everyone nodded and let Mercedes guide the way, the Knights following closely behind.
(Aigis) "It seems Fodlan's technology has greatly improved since we left."
(Mercedes) "It has, my mind is really having trouble keeping up nowadays. It seems every other month some new device for communication is put out!"
(Aigis) "That's a familiar feeling..."
(Kazuma) "So...everything's been fine since House Isekai left?"
Mercedes stopped outside the main hall's entrance and turned to the knights.
(Mercedes) "Worry not, these four protected me during the Five Year War. I will return shortly."
The Knights' heads nodded.
They went up into the building of the main entrance hall, making their way up to the second floor of Garreg Mach. The knights remained outdoors and Mercedes looked around her to make sure they were alone.
(Mercedes) "To be quite honest, it has been a bit...troubling. There's a host of new problems ever since this new partnership between the empire, kingdom, and alliance began. But, that shouldn't be anything you have to worry about! Actually, why are you here?"
(Rean) "We received a call from Sitri, requesting help from us. I guess the four of us were the only ones able to respond."
(Mercedes) "I see. If she requested House Isekai, then I am not sure it is a good thing...Oh? I believe she's speaking to someone inside."
[Arcana Code - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]
(Sitri) “Then let’s get started. I have called you five here, because you are the best and brightest Garreg Mach Monastery has to offer."
Sitri put her hand to her chest and closed her eyes.
(Sitri) "We live in troubled times, as you can no doubt see for yourselves. Even with the advancement of our technology ever since the calamity two years ago, tensions between our nations remain at an all time high."
The students looked at each other, not sure of where this speech was going.
(Sitri) "Garreg Mach Monastery was created to represent the very best our nations had to offer, and pave a way for our youth to shape our world. That is why you all are here.
Of our three Houses, you have been chosen for an experimental class, and will be leading from example."
(Stefan) "E-Experimental how?"
(Sitri) "Surely you have heard of House Isekai?"
(Helena) "Think I remember hearing rumors about them with my old mercenary group."
(Astrid) "Those group of weirdos and undead!?"
(Kazuma's Voice) "Who are they calling weir-"
(Towa's Voice) "K-Kazuma! They'll hear us!"
(Kairos) "I only know from what I read from reports. They were the fourth house of Garreg Mach, right?"
Sitri nodded.
(Sitri) "They were a group of people that came from beyond our world, all with different histories and personalities. The reason I bring them up is because they worked with all three classes before the Five Year War began. And they were the ones who stopped the calamity from destroying our world."
(Elizabeth) ...?! "Hold a moment, Lady Sitri! Have we been called to work with these off worlders?! They have no place in meddling in the affairs of Fodlan!"
(Kairos) "Hmph. For once I agree with her, this matter should be left to us-"
Sitri raised a hand and interrupted them.
(Sitri) "These "off-worlders" had the opportunity to leave us to our fates when the calamity was at its worst. Instead, they chose to stay and fight for our sake. I trust them with my life. And so do your nations' leaders."
(Everyone) "..."
(Sitri) "Prepare yourselves to travel out, grab any essential gear and report back. We will continue the briefing once you are more situated."
[Musica Universalis - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers OST]
The students quietly left the room, keeping their thoughts to themselves.
They were too preoccupied to notice that they had walked by Kazuma, Rean, Aigis, and Towa.
(Mercedes) "I have my own business to attend to unfortunately, so I will see you all later!"
Mercedes bowed while everyone else waved goodbye, and she followed the students down.
Once they went downstairs, Rean was the first to enter the room.
Sitri took a deep breath and smiled when she saw them.
(Sitri) "Hello, everyone. I hope that speech I gave was alright."
(Towa) "I like to think so, but I can definitely see why the kids are so confused."
(Aigis) "You do not seem shocked that we are here."
(Sitri) "Well, I did have someone looking out the door for me."
She motioned behind her, Sothis materializing in front of everyone and waving.
(Sothis) "Besides, with how loud Kazuma is, I don't think it was too hard guessing who it was."
Kazuma rolled his eyes.
(Kazuma) "Yeah yeah, whatever."
(Rean) "I see you've been keeping yourself busy!"
Sitri sighed again, though sounding far more tired.
(Sitri) "You have NO idea...I hadn't realized how exhausting being a professor is, not to mention leading the reconstruction effort."
(Towa) "Oh, so that's why Garreg Mach is active again! You're doing such a good job!"
(Sitri) "Thank you, Towa. There's far more that needs to be done, but we've been getting by."
(Kazuma) "So, what exactly did you need us here for? We got your message."
(Sothis) "Well, a number of things really, but we should get to the most troubling news first."
(Sitri) "Right. We'll have time to catch up later. It's about the Zanado Tower."
Everyone straightened their backs and frowned.
[Spider Web - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]
(Sothis) "We've been getting reports from the guards that...strange creatures are emerging from it."
(Kazuma) "That's descriptive. What makes them strange?"
(Sitri) "They seem to have intelligence but...they're nothing like we've ever seen before. Claude is in charge of the area around Zanado, so he ordered his men to just keep observing. These creatures never get too far, on account that they are killed by an unknown group."
(Aigis) "Do we have any visual references for any of these?"
Sitri nodded, and pulled out a crystal-like device.
It appeared similar to a tablet, but the information was displayed floating above it, which Sitri began swiping at it, making it show a picture of the creature.
Tumblr media
(Rean) "What in the...?"
(Aigis) "It does not appear to be a Shadow."
(Kazuma) "Hmph. Nothing I've seen in my world."
(Sothis) "To be honest, we were hoping at least one from every group showed up to confirm this or not, but for the time being we can only guess it's from a world none of us are familiar with."
(Towa) "But, I thought we stopped the Tower from continuing to rip apart other worlds?"
(Sitri) "We did. And that's why we're concerned."
(Sothis) "It doesn't seem like it's having any overall negative effects on Fodlan, but this only showed up recently."
(Sitri) "I put the message out a week ago, and if you all only now received it..."
(Rean) "Then we shouldn't waste any time. We need to investigate immediately."
(Sothis) "Our thoughts exactly. Which is why..."
Sothis turned to the door and disappeared, the students of Garreg Mach arriving back in the room, each carrying a small bag with them.
The students realized that there were more people in the room now.
(Astrid) "Wow, they look weird."
(Elizabeth) "Astrid! Where are your manners?!"
(Stefan) "Sorry about tha-...Wait a second..."
(Helena) "Hmph, maybe that's why. Are you guys from House Isekai?"
(Kairos) "Wait, these are supposed to be the people who saved us?"
(Rean) "Well, obviously we're not the full class but we were the core members. I'm Rean Schwarzer of Class VII."
(Kazuma) "Kazuma."
(Towa) "I'm Towa Herschel, it's a pleasure to meet the new generation of Garreg Mach's finest!"
(Aigis) "Aigis of S.E.E.S. Hello."
(Astrid) "Huh. Don't look like much to me."
(Stefan) "Well, we are pleased to meet House Isekai in the flesh after all the stories we've heard!"
Helena looked to the others. Astrid was frowning while Kairos and Elizabeth looked mutually revolted.
(Helena) "Least two of us are. Good job on getting those two to agree on something, though."
(Towa) "I-I'm sorry?"
(Kairos) "Lady Sitri, with all due respect, this is something that WE need to do ourselves. Getting outside help-"
(Sitri) "-Is necessary, considering what we're going up against. We all will be visiting the Zanado Tower in order to investigate the strange creatures coming out of it."
While Sitri recounted what she told House Isekai, the members of the old House looked at each other.
(Kazuma) "The hell do they got against us?"
(Aigis) "I am unsure. Did we do something wrong?"
(Towa) "Rean..."
(Rean) "I know, Towa. Well, I kind of have a suspicion."
(Aigis/Kazuma) ?
(Rean) "When my country occupied another, we were seen as meddling outsiders who had no business interfering in their affairs, causing all sorts of grief for every citizen involved..."
(Kazuma) "But it's not like our Houses have been taking over the territories here-"
(Towa) "True, but it's not like we had zero impact on the world either. I mean, just look at their technology! I think it's safe to say without us, they would not have progressed so fast."
(Aigis) "That is...a fair point."
Rean took another look at the students.
(Rean) "They remind me a little of my own class. And if that's taught me anything, is that they'll come around eventually. It's not like we all got along straight away either."
(Sitri) "...Now, without any futher delay.-"
Sitri closed her eyes for a moment as a portal slowly began to open behind them.
(Sitri) "I will take the lead for now. Everyone, please follow me."
They nodded and Sitri and the old members of House Isekai went in first.
(Elizabeth) "Ugh, this will NOT go well..."
(Kairos) "It's not like we can say no to Lady Sitri. We'll have to follow along for now."
(Astrid) "I mean, I don't think they seem that bad, just weird."
(Stefan) "We have to give them a chance at least!"
(Helena) "Fodlan's been through worse anyway. What's the worst that could happen?"
...
Meanwhile, inside the Zanado Tower...
Class VII stepped through the portal and found themselves in a completely alien environment.
Tumblr media
(Juna) "Woah..."
(Kurt) "What in the...?!"
(Altina) "Hm...The structure does not match any known signatures from our world."
(Ash) "Think that much is obvious."
(Musse) "Where's Instructor Rean?"
(Juna) "Uh, I think the better question is how do we even leave?"
(Kurt) "There appears to be a doorway ahead. Perhaps we can take that?"
(Ash) "Beats standing around."
Ash and Kurt moved first, with the rest of Class VII following..."
...
Through the scope of a sniper, a helmeted soldier slowly watched Class VII exit and wander the facility.
He was accompanied by three other soldiers, all wearing the same helmet and suit, with slight variations on their armor making them distinct from one another.
They were extremely high up on the platforms as they continued to fly past them, yet they still made an effort to remain out of sight.
(Buck) "What do you see Romeo?"
(Romeo) "Five kids. All wearing the same uniform, humans from the looks of it. Carrying some weird lookin weapons too."
Dutch lowered his weapon and sighed.
(Dutch) "Finally, some good news."
(Mickey) "Is it? How the heck did they even get here?"
(Buck) "One thing at a time. Right now, we go and get those kids to follow us, before whatever the hell those things were finds them first."
(Romeo) "Or, we could just find the exit instead."
(Mickey) "And leave them to die?"
(Dutch) "Really?"
(Buck) "..."
(Romeo) "Jeez, tough crowd."
(Buck) "Just shut up, Romeo. Let's get moving."
Everyone picked up their equipment and followed after Class VII.
(Romeo) "Besides, the weapons on them were-"
(Buck) "Romeo. Remember when I told you to shut up?"
(Romeo) "Yeah?"
(Buck) "Consider that a standing order."
...
(Amber) "Hm..."
Amber dusted off some of the crates around her and found food inside.
Although they packaging was covered in dust, they appeared to be fresh.
(Venti) "Ugh, finally food! I'm starving!"
Duvalie walked past Venti and her face scrunched up seeing how fast he stuffed it down his throat.
(Duvalie) "Tch, don't let that dust stop you from inhaling the food."
(Jean) "I suppose if it tastes alright...?"
(Kaeya) "No need to see if it's centuries old or poisonous, just go 'head and eat it."
(Lisa) "Perhaps we should worry about this food situation later? I do believe I saw another Abyss Mage run this direction."
(Diluc) "Then we have no time to waste."
Diluc grabbed his sword and moved the direction Lisa pointed.
(Duvalie) "Right!"
She drew her sword and shield and tagged along right beside him.
Even though they had found Duvalie by herself in this strange tower, she was already feeling like a part of the group.
Though Diluc didn't want to admit that. He already saw how ecstatic she was seeing Jean and himself fight. Though, a part of him wondered where she came from. She certainly wasn't from their world...
...
Outside the Zanado Tower...
Sitri stepped through the portal first, and the former members of House Isekai, and the Garreg Mach students came in right behind.
Drawing the Sword of the Creator, she took a deep breath before turning to the group.
(Sitri) "Students of Garreg Mach, begin the mission!"

Recovery
The sun was setting over Egypt but Galaxy could care less. After the fighting ended Galaxy crumbled to the ground and laid there. She honestly did not want to move. The burns along the left side of her body stung and hurt but the young adult ignored it as much as she could. Galaxy had closed her eyes and just laid there until she heard two people come up to her.
"There you are Gal." Lennox said as Galaxy opened her eyes.
"Hey Lennox, Ironhide." she replied.
"Ratchet wants to see you. Now." Ironhide told her.
Galaxy let out a groan as she sat up. She soon got on her feet before she almost fell again.
"Woah! Easy squirt. You are not in the best shape." Lennox said catching the smaller human.
"I'm fine. Nothing too bad." Galaxy said as she stood up.
However that just made her body scream in pain. She winced as she tried to walk but once again almost fell.
"You are not in any position to walk yourself." Ironhide said before gently picking Galaxy up.
Galaxy simply nodded in response as they made there way over to the others. Once there Ironhide set Galaxy down. However the moment she was back on her feet, her injuries finally hit her. Galaxy crumbled to the ground and tried to curl into a ball.
"Don't let her curl up! It will only make her injuries worse!" Ratchet ordered.
Galaxy soon felt herself get lifted up again then placed down a some sort of bed. She was in so much pain she could barely tell what was happening.
"Is she going to be ok?" Galaxy heard Serena ask.
"Yes she will. I'll see to it she is." Ratchet said.
Galaxy weakly opened her eyes to see Serena next to her holding her non injured hand. The younger blonde gave the elder a small smile before wincing in pain. Galaxy also saw Optimus and Bumblebee looking at her in concern.
She then saw Ratchet using his holoform to treat her burns. Once finished Ratchet then gave Galaxy a very large amount of pain medication to prevent her from feeling any of her injuries, and some sedatives to help her get some sleep. He then deactivated his holoform and turned to Optimus.
"Optimus I am going to dismantle Megatron if he injures Galaxy like this again." he seethed.
"How bad are they?" Serena asked instead of Optimus.
"A minor concussion, broken leg, fractured wrist, four broken ribs, six fractured ribs, and severe burns along the left side of her torso, arm, neck and face." Ratchet answered.
Serena looked at him in horror while Optimus looked worried for Galaxy.
"Thankfully she'll recover just fine." Ratchet said reassuring everyone.
"Oh thank the stars." Serena said in relief.
"Galaxy should not have to suffer from those injuries." Optimus said sadly.
"It's Megatron. He would have hurt her anyway Optimus. After what she did in Mission City, Megatron was not going to let it go." Ironhide stated.
"What exactly happened. I would like to know the full truth now." Serena demanded.
"You deserve to know. I had hoped you would not be pulled into our war like your sister." Optimus said.
He then began to tell Serena everything that happened two years ago. Once finished Serena looked at her sleeping sister and ran her hand through Galaxy's messy hair.
"Oh why do you have to be so determine to help others as much as possible." she said with a small smile.
Galaxy then opened her eyes and yawned.
"Lepts neber do tha agin. Wa vey paiful." she said slurred slightly since she just woke up.
Serena gave her sister a weird look while Optimus raised an optic ridge.
"How much pain meds did you give Gal?!" Epps asked.
"Enough to keep her from feeling all of her injuries. I did not want to see the poor girl in that much pain." Ratchet stated.
Everyone couldn't help but agree because she had several injuries.
"Massive tool make me go splat." Galaxy said with a goofy grin.
"Did she just call Megatron a massive tool?" Sideswipe ask trying not to laugh.
"She did." Jazz said snickering.
Ratchet looked conflicted while Optimus sighed while smiling.
This went on for a few more minutes before Galaxy fell back asleep.
"Well now I know she's sensitive to pain medication." Ratchet said.
Soon everyone else went to sleep and recharge. However before Optimus transformed and recharged himself, he looked at Galaxy. She seemed so much smaller and frail with those injuries. Optimus swore to himself she would never suffer like this again.
Several hours later
On board an air craft carrier, Galaxy was watching the sun set. She then heard one of the Autobots walk up to her.
"Thank you Galaxy for saving my life." Optimus said as he stood next to her.
"Your welcome. Now were even, so you don't owe me anything. You saved my life and I saved yours." Galaxy replied with a smile.
"I believe you are right." Optimus replied with a smile in return.
Galaxy then turned her head back to watching the sun set. She could feel the guilt of being the cause of Optimus dying grow more as she spoke to him. Galaxy thought it would be best if she stayed away for a little. Just until the guilt vanished.
Two weeks later
Galaxy hummed softly to herself as she walked home. She had a slight limp from her broken leg but it was healing properly, along with her wrist and ribs. It was mainly the burns that have yet to heal. Even though it's been two weeks since she was injured, the burns still looked fresh.
Once inside her house, Galaxy walked into the living room only to be surprised by the Autobots.
"I told them about feeling guilty rather easily." Serena said from her spot in the chair in front of Galaxy.
Galaxy gave her sister an annoyed look from her spot.
"You didn't have to Serena." she stated.
"Yeah and have them worry because you avoided them for two weeks. No thanks." the older sister replied.
"Galaxy I would like to speak to you." Optimus said as he walked over to her.
Galaxy mutely nodded before the two left the house. The two walked down the street in silence before Optimus spoke.
"Galaxy you should not blame yourself for my death." he told her.
"But I got you killed because you were protecting me." Galaxy argued.
"And if I could go back in time, I would do it again." Optimus said.
"What?" Galaxy asked.
"Galaxy you are important to all of us. You are apart of our family. Megatron has been trying to kill me for centuries. He simply used you as a means to do so. Please stop blaming yourself." he explained.
"Ok." Galaxy said before hugging Optimus.
At first the hug surprised Optimus but then he hugged Galaxy back. After a moment or two, they stopped hugging and began to walk back to the house.
"I should mention Ratchet is not happy." Optimus said.
Galaxy made a rather amusing face before groaning.
"Well may as well get this over with. I'd be avoiding the inevitable if I tried to run." she replied and Optimus chuckled.
Once back inside the house Ratchet then gently dragged Galaxy to the couch and had her sit down. He then began checking her injuries and rubbing a cream on her burns then wrapping them up again.
"There now the burns should heal and won't leave any scarring. Do this again and you won't leave my medbay." Ratchet said.
"Ok but I'm healing fine aren't I." Galaxy said.
Ratchet then pulled out a wrench and pointed it at Galaxy.
"Say your fine and you'll get a wrench to the head." he threatened.
"You can't do that. I'm a fragile human." Galaxy said with a innocent look.
"Galaxy your as fragile as one of us thinking back. You just look frail when you aren't." Ratchet said in response.
Galaxy huffed while the others laughed. Soon she couldn't help but smile. This was her family and she loved them all. Galaxy wouldn't trade this for anything in the world.
