Welcome, everyone, to Unions In College: Targaryen edition! That's right, all my fears about the distant cousin dating situation are about to come true and as a sign of things to come, I originally started this update last weekend and then got food poisoning in the middle of it. We've finally reached the point where the Unions are making me actually vomit and not metaphorically! Because of the new pic limit, this is part 1 of the update and I'll post part 2 right after.

We have arrived at La Fiesta and everyone looks simply amazing, especially Barth in his cowboy look. As Felina and Meadow (Fedow??) immediately reconnect, we are greeted by some #MajorDormieDrama:

Apparently a love triangle between Purple Hair Glasses, Awesomely Dressed Raver Dude and Former Blue Dog Shirt has formed right under my nose! It's so moving to see how between Gunther, Cyn and Sophito, we have used and discarded all 3 of these people multiple times over each generation❤️

-Screw you, Former Blue Dog Shirt, I gave you my precious dormie heart and this is how you repay me?? -I'm sorry, Purple Hair Glasses, it's just that we know each other so well that things got stale!

Seriously when did you dormie losers even find the time to develop relationships?? Last few gens we've been staying at the dorms for about 20 seconds each run like wtf.

ANYWAY, let me go give the kids makeovers and definitely not deal with something that will make me think my hood is corrupted and cause me to have a mild heart attack!

I don't have any pics after this as I was FREAKING TF OUT. After Claire, Laksmhi aka Blue Meatballs aka ANOTHER 60 YO FORMER DORMIE WHOSE KID IS ATTENDING COLLEGE ALSO MOVED IN. I'm pretty sure if the dorm wasn't at capacity Stacy was also gonna move in, WTF.

Mercifully I resolved this shit by going to the main hood and having everyone's elder birthdays, they were only a few days away anyway, and once they turned into elders they fucked off and new dormies moved in. I think it was some unintended consequence of the no dormie regen mod??? No idea but it was SCARY.

Moving on, I was worried whether Fedow's teen romance was gonna translate to college but I legit didn't even have time to give them makeovers, it's straight to Daniel's old room where all the CC is missing!

Cousins aren't the only thing we brought to college with us, as someone also brought over this FUCKING COLD that's been ravaging the neighborhood this entire generation.

I've been tracing this thing and I'm pretty sure it originated in Claire's household where fucking Wilfred came home from work sick and he passed it to Spice, then Spice came over to visit his bum dad Sugar, passed it to the main house, then Sunset came over from school with Barth, got it from the main house and passed it to the June/Julian/Blue Meatballs/Stacy household who then passed it to Daniel's household. So basically the only unaffected house is Gunther and Melody! That's why never seeing your kids is the right call.

We spend our first night skilling as everyone this generation is a complete moron with no skill points. I had both Barth and Felina choose the psychology major as I feel they will need those skills (for vastly different reasons) given their LTW's and Barth wastes no time putting his new charisma skill point to good use!

200+ Followers Event: Drunken confession from Shuichi!

(For the sake of clarity, everyone mentioned is of legal drinking age! Also, Mod Celeste says to drink responsibly!)

Shuichi is not usually a drinker. He'll join Kaito and Rantaro at the bar every so often, though he's the designated driver pretty much every time. Not that he minds, of course. He'd hate to lose his inhibitions.

Last time the guys got together, Kaito told him about the annual class reunion in a few weeks. Despite the... quirkiness of his graduating class, Shuichi does still like seeing them every so often. Also, you would be there-- and he's been thinking about catching up since you are often out of the county for work.

"I know you'll be there dude-- y/n already RSVP'd." Kaito laughed as he smacked him in the shoulder.

So, once the day came, there he was. The reunion was usually held at a nice hotel's convention center. A fairly dressy event, but that didn't stop Gonta from not wearing shoes... "you have to admire his consistency," Shuichi thought. It put him at ease to see old friends.

He was making small talk with Maki when you arrived. Dressed sharply and beautiful as ever, his heart stopped at the sight of you. But it had been so long... what would you even talk about? Heck, would you remember him? The anxiety filled his mind.

Kokichi, observant as ever, saw him in this state. He scampered over, mischievous intentions clear, and struck up a conversation. "Heeeeey buddy, cat got your tongue?"

Startled, Shuichi stuttered out a response. "O-oh, uh... yeah, I suppose. Just a bit out of my element, haha." That was an understatement.

"Well... I think I know just the thing. Loosen up, will ya?" With his devious little smile, he passes Shuichi a glass of champagne. In a moment of weakness, he downed the whole thing. Though, it did help.

Looking for some better solace than Kokichi, the detective found Kaito and Maki once again. He saw you talking to the hotel staff, friendly and warm. They could tell Shuichi was a bit shaken, so the pair sat him down and tried to help.

"Listen, man. I know you've got the hots for y/n, so you should be honest!" Kaito was a pretty straightforward guy, for better or worse.

"Now now, Kaito. It's not always that simple..." Maki, the more thoughtful of the two, chimed in.

Shuichi sat at their table, dejected. "I'd love to, but... what if they don't reciprocate? What if I do something wrong?"

Kaito knows when he gets like this, positivity is the remedy. "Have some confidence! You're a really cool guy, and they know it. Just show them that and you can't go wrong! That's how I got Maki-roll, you know." She rolls her eyes, but can't deny it either.

He takes the advice to heart. Trying to embrace the night in stride, he has a few more drinks and makes the rounds to talk to everyone. Shuichi had planned on saving you for last, in the hopes maybe he'd catch you alone. However, the nerves got to him, as did the alcohol. By the time he walked his way over to you (it was more of a stagger, actually), his cheeks were flushed and he had an unusual expression.

"Uh, hey there... y/n." He attempted the charm of a movie star, albeit poorly. "How's it been?" He enquired.

He was clearly a bit inebriated. You thought it was cute, though. The entire night you'd seen him steal glances, only to turn away shyly. He wanted to impress you, and you knew it. You'd had some chemistry back in school, after all. You humored him and answered, with the same "cool-person" attitude.

In his state, he saw this as a win. So, he kept going. Maybe not being held back by his rational side was a good thing? "Let's say we go over the balcony, you and I... I'd like some more alone time with you, if you don't mind," He winked as he took your hand and guided you to the secluded spot. The guardrails were strung with twinkling lights and the view was just stunning.

You asked what his intentions were, and he finally came clean. "So, uh... as it turns out, I'm in love with you. Crazy, right? I have since Hope's Peak, really. I'm sure you've got an awesome partner already though, so this... this is without hope or agenda, okay?" Even in his drunken state, some genuine thoughts slipped through.

Hearing the words after all this time brought you peace. You hugged him tightly, reassuring him you had nobody else. His red face turned redder.

"Huh? Wait, you actually--- huh. I didn't plan this far..." you both shared a laugh at that. The night had worn on very long, however, and it was time to get going. You drove him home, and tucked him in. By that point, he was passed out. What a night!

In the morning, he was greeted with a horrible headache and a note on his bedside table. It read: "Hope you're up for some dinner tonight-- I have an extended stay here at home. Plus, it's about time for a first date, don't you think?" Signed with your name.

The shock finally hit him. "What did I do last night?" Shuichi was partly mortified, but...

Seems Kokichi was right about loosening up.

Spooky Day! Mortimer loves this holiday, and likes to go all out for his kids (the ones old enough to appreciate it). He returns from work dressed as a ninja, with news of his promotion.

The spooky stuff pack was on sale, and 'tis the season (or 'twas at the time!), so here we are. I expected my wear costume mod conflict to be fixed now, but looking at Alex's outfit, I'm not sure... Is this a costume? I wasn't controlling him so unsure 🤔 (referring to the dress, and not the sim with a pumpkin head).

A gold medal spooky party, of course, despite the DRAMA 🫖

Mortimer invited the Benedict household, and Celeste arrived with a big baby bump, much to Christy's outrage.

Christy: I knew it. You swan in here with your holier than thou attitude, and all the while you were jealous, jealous of my pregnancy.

Celeste: What, that's not true... This just happened, it has nothing to do with you.

Christie: Tell yourself that if you want, but I know girls like you... Goody two shoes acting like you are better than me, when really you want to be me.

And the scariest thing of all... The infants are here 🎃

Gokinjo Monogatari got an English release. I am just - feeling like I got my wish from 1998.

That's right, I'm alive but not very active on the meta for the time being. 2023 sped up for the second half; work got crazy busy for Q4. I worked up to Dec 18th through several weekends so yeah, needed some recharge time.

I don't know how I missed this, but thanks to watching Coleen's Manga Recs, I discovered that the one shoujo manga title that I had been wanting an English release for has finally arrived. Gokinjo Monogatari by Ai Yazawa!

I discovered Gokinjo Monogatari in '98. One of the local comic stores had the first three tankobons and I bought them based on the cover artwork alone.

It wasn't until undergrad I was able to meet a few more people and figure out more than just the name and artist. I tried to find the translation of the manga online, but was unsuccessful. I have to remind people that before scanlations, you had to buy a tankobon and hope you found the text based translation which would have the text according to page number and what panel location. I read a fair bit of Kenshin that way, but sadly, this series was not that popular with readers in the States. I've been moving my entire adult life hauling my three precious volumes of the manga hoping that someday I would first, collect volume 4-7 to complete the picture and that I'd have my matching English version. Granted, I haven't done a good job of looking for volumes 4-7 when I've been in Japan . . . or using the internet either.

As if to spite me, the follow up manga, Paradise Kiss, did get a translation in 2002 from Tokyo Pop which exists in the same universe as Gokinjo Monogatari. Note that a previous manga's characters show up at the Flea Market in Monogatari as well and Yazawa likes to keep a lot of her series tied together. Eventually, the scanlation of the series appeared and I read it around 2011. I'd only found an episode or two of the anime during the golden age of file sharing, but didn't follow through on it. I wanted to read the manga before watching the anime. In 2017, I visited the Manga Museum in Kyoto, got to see a cool display about Ribon magazine and of course they had Gokinjo Monogatari merch! I bought the file folder set and stickers! I bought the Gokinjo Monogatari UT shirt from Uniqlo featuring Ribon series. Yet each time I found more stuff, the universe got the last laugh. Japan released the collectors set with four volumes, there was a French translation, German etc and never one for English. So, you have to realize how I absolutely lost my mind when the thing I'd figured would never happen, happened! Not only was it a thing, I'd even missed the December 2023 release date -at least I didn't have to wait for a pre-order to get volume 1.

I'm happy to see that this version included some of the original color pages!

It has a few more at the end with a photo wall of Mikako's outfits. Everything about the style of this manga, I absolutely love. The fashion goes so hard even now. I get nostalgic with all of the mid-90s Japanese street fashion which has a mix of 60s mod and 70s flare. I think the series also does a good job of capturing that awkward time in your teenage life when you are trying to figure out how to act with people you are interested in. But failing to sort things out. Unlike a lot of other high school manga series, this one stands out with the much more "normal" appearance of the students. I remember picking it up and thinking that the characters looked like they could be my peers; though there is no way Mikako's outfits would pass my high school's own liberal dress code where dyed hair and piercings were permitted. Her bare midriff would get her in trouble . . . Funny how now when I look at it, this is a very unusual high school set up for a Japanese reader likely coming from a more regimented school environment with a uniform and strict dress code. I never thought about it at the time. More that I was plotting my own hair dying plans for when I moved out of the house for undergrad just like the characters had - while still in high school. I did read Parakiss back when it came out from 2002-2005; however, it never really resonated with me the same way a series that I couldn't even find a decent translation for. I started to watch Nana but couldn't get into it at all. Maybe it was my mindset or the fact that I wasn't the mood for young twenty-somethings figuring their shit out.

Yet, here I am in the winter of 2024, and I have volume 1 of the collectors edition format of Gokinjo Monogatari and I'm still loving every little bit of the story as I read it. Perhaps, Parakiss and Nana were more edgier/grittier than something like this which is why they never quite clicked with me. I wanted my fashionable shoujo drama but not over the top. I'm not sure what I'll write about it. It isn't a well known series both due to the fact it is from the 90s and that it is shoujo but perhaps I can reflect on what I was drawn to it all those years ago and what I think about it now.

every time I can because it relaxes me a little, like, I don't have to do anything, it doesn't have clear objectives, there are no missions, I can do what I want whenever I want without pressure, and don't forget that I really like to visualize my ocs and their stories, so every time I can I play

I believe that each Dragonborn has their dress code to represent themselves, modded or not.

Mine is White 80% , silver 15%, Blue 5%

A snow elf mage who has a very VERY hard time accepting a single flaw about herself. Getting shit from the Dominion quite a lot since she is not an Altmer, both mentality and appearance.

The arrogant mage were made, not born into.

she left Summerset to find her own path.

With a facade of happy and articulated chatter, behind the mask is a cold and bitter person who is not afraid to lashes out at those she deemed nuisance.

Gifted and ambitious in the study of arcane, she mastered all school of magic and enchanting by the age of 85, and arrived in Skyrim by accident at the age of 91 years old.

And that is when she discovered that she is gifted for more than just magic. The Dragon god of time has chosen her of all people to be his champion.

All this time, the ambitious and domineering nature of hers has roots from a hidden draconic soul all along. Finally she finds a thing that she likes, a unique power...one that also requires cultivation and mastery over time. But there's no need to rush, patience and mindfulness is also hey key to success. It is alright, she can wait and learn along the way, after all, there is plenty of time as a long living race such as hers.

Many bandits cannot see beyond the veil of peaceful and noble looking of frail and weak woman, therefore, their punishment is justified trying to rob her.

Color represents

White: In some people, white color may represent angles and goodness, but in this case, I chose the colour theme for my LDB as white because of her perfectionist concepts, clean, rigid, empty, and bland. Like an Order untainted by chaos.

But, the grand clarity and purity in the color of white represent her arcane aspects. Her mind is ready, and her heart is resolute and cleared, just like a diamond, brilliant and unyielding.

Elegant when unprovoked, but also barely approachable (don't mind the courier part, that guy approaches everyone) not many people have a heart to directly ask her for help, even though she would do it for free to kill her boredom.

Silver: The color of nobility, illumination and enlightenment. But also...insincerity, deceiving, immoral, and enigmatic nature.

Aside from glittering gold and jewels, the person who has deep insecurities about not being enough, and being a target for making a fool of. She prefers to let her brilliant light shine to hide the flawed inside.

Like a swan that tries to hide a black feather..or even pluck them all out without fearing pain or grave consequences it may bring to itself.

But what does the great father of dragons see of the Eminence, chased after by his champion?

Blue: while the color blue can represent tranquility, honesty, trustworthy, wisdom, and reliability. It can also represent yearning, sadness, passiveness, aloof, and predictable nature.

A simpleton, a No one who once never has a role in anything big, got what she wanted in the end and yet it never made her whole as much as she thinks it will be. Instead, it created a big gap between her and the people around which... didn't actually help much.

The question in her heart remains unanswered. What does she really want?

Maxis ehehe. I used to be an alpha girly but the jarring difference between my sims and their surroundings while in regular game mode made me switch (that and also poly count).

Sometimes, depending on the sim and what's going on in their lives. For Safya I do because in my mind she regularly runs (even when I don't have the time to actually do it in game) and for Alfonso because sometimes he gets too muscly, otherwise not really.

I low key don't, Gshade does most of the work. I religiously use Gunthermunch's lithium for CAS pics (also use it for gameplay pics tho I've been getting into Waves shader cause is very bright and colorful!) When I'm feeling inspired I like to bring in the background color with a soft edge brush and maybe throw in some sparkles in PS.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

I've heard absolute wonders about TS3's late night and showtime so a mix between those two should be very fun! Plus it would enhance the city lifestyle gameplay imo.

(Even the non-mages can tell something’s up. The dark energy in the air is oppressive now, and your surroundings start to become hazy, glitchy. The lights hitting them in strange ways, stationary things moving erratically within their designated positions. The crowd doesn’t notice. But Delancey and Julian do.)

“Tonight, our winner is... the Red Team!

Which means, Julian, that you’ll have to choose who can stay in your team... and who’s gotta go.”

The stage lights flicker before going dark. You can just make out Nessie’s horrified face as the crowd erupts in screams, and the ground falls out under you.

Rimworld: Arcana, Part 15: Drunk Rat Epidemic

I saw this unconscious rat over in The Bug Den, and wondered what the hell was up with it... well, some of those dead raiders were carrying Chemshine (red bottles). Many animals will seek out Chemshine, consume it and become fuckass drunk. Muffalos in particular will break into your kitchen to get at the stuff, causing Problems. (Yes, it comes from a mod lmao, but the mod has lots of other more useful things)

In other news, Szilard has finally recovered from his Paralytic Abasia, and immediately dressed himself in this stylish Bear Headdress that was given to us as a gift by the last traders.

Now that Szilard is up and about, we can accept the quest to have Winter here stay for a 10-day cultural exchange to build Goodwill with her faction. She arrives (rather unceremoniously) by transport pod.

Since she also has Paralytic Abasia, her stay is going to be in our recently-expanded, clean, and comfortable hospital, being tended and fed Fine Meals by the lovely Tsedi and Jinana. (We’re still rearranging the beds, lol, but pawns don’t care about that)

Jinana tends the apiary in the pouring rain during a thunderstorm. Beekeeping ain’t easy.

Fortunately for Julian, we’ve had two caravans come in from neutral factions (that are also neutral to each other). He got us a good deal for our pile of fabric scraps and extra raider clothing from a bulk goods trader (they’ll take just about anything).

Ooooh, ambrosia!

In the vanilla game, you can’t cultivate ambrosia, it can only grow wild. I like to leave it that way - the stuff makes pawns happy, but it is somewhat addictive. Have to keep an eye on this!

We’ve made some additions to our dining hall/rec room: a billiards table, and a social table with paraphernalia for the game that’s sweeping the Rim: Cellars & Dwellers! Turel is planning a campaign. (C&D is added by a mod that lets you create additional recreational objects, lol)

And a third caravan! Spring is just... busy. The game will very often spring surprise relatives on you like this. Sometimes they’re even part of a raid! 🙀 (Obviously, pawns will take a severe mood hit if they lose a relative, upping the stakes)

The fourth (!) caravan we get has something interesting: a hen and a rooster. This will let us breed chickens and get eggs!

Turel wrangles our new chickens into the pen. I have a mod I will install later to provide a chicken coop, because chickens multiply and can cause a LOT of lag if they’re just running around on your screen all the time.

Meanwhile, I was finding boomrat vomit all over the base (I had completely forgotten about the stupid self-taming boomrat). Tired of dealing with this horrible creature, I tried to have Turel release it back into the wild, only to find out WHY it was barfing all over the place:

FUCKING CHEMSHINE

So this boomrat got fucked up on Chemshine in The Bug Den, wandered drunkenly into the colony, then decided to join and vomit all over our hallways.

And we can’t get rid of it.

I tried to release it, but it just comes right back in the door. We can’t slaughter it, because it will explode. The best I can hope for is that some future trader will be willing to buy it off us later...

(Some people train boomrats to send them out to enemy lines and get exploded, but we just don’t have time for that lmao)

It’s now the 1st of Jugust, and Heron and Jinana have begun work on our greenhouse! It’s a fairly complex operation, with multiple moving parts:

Build walls to enclose the space, with doors of course.

Build a smelter so we can make glass.

Use glass to create skylights, which allow sunlight into an enclosed area, and also trap some heat through the greenhouse effect.

Install heating to keep growing temps optimal over the winter. We can start with a large firepit or two, but in the long term this will be heated by a system of radiators powered by geothermal energy.

Enrich the soil in the planting areas with the composted biosolids we’ve been saving up, and irrigate them as well to improve yields.

Food Security get!

Now, the second part of this project does require us to start building our plumbing and sewage infrastructure... but that’s a subject for next time!

For some reason WWX had been denied having ownership of any land and is later gifted some? There’s a scene where JFM says something about how WWX is not responsible enough for any real kind of leadership and WWX over hears and is sad. But he’s gifted a city later and he and LWJ move to a house there part time? Then at some point they find Xuanyu of Slaughter eggs and end up raising baby snake-turtles? 15. Here's one for your next Fic Finder post: It was a WX modern AU where the magic element was the first time you touched someone you loved, it left a colorful mark on their skin. Wei Wuxian had no marks at all, which made him think he was unlovable until Lan Wangji investigated the matter. It turned out to be either because of a generalized curse or because of one that YZY put on him (there may have been two different fics with the same premise, I am not positive?) @mikkeneko

18. Hello, do you know the fanfic where JC is demonic cultivator while JYL was the sect leader and WWX was already married to LWJ. At qionqi path exept for xuanli it was wangxian child A-yuan (1st month?) celebration. LWJ was injured badly but alive when he went to meet JC in qionqi path. WWX was devasted. JYL tried to talk to him that JC didn't mean it that it was not JC fault, but when LXC found out what she was doing to his brother in law telling him in his emotionless state he was furious.

Wwx and lwj had a lovechild (lwj didn't know about him) alongside a-yuan but instead of lwj finding them they're adopted by a woman in a village near the burial mounds and during the years wwx was gone jc through jin ling find them.
