i think mostly we as a culture need to stop pretending media is for us and instead recognize that it's for the people making it. "the show didn't do the thing I wanted it to" is so not the point. did it do what the people making it wanted it to do? did it tell the story they were trying to tell? than it was successful. if that doesn't align with what you wanted to happen, don't get up in arms about it. don't badmouth the creators and throw a tantrum. that's what fan works are for. the text is the text, and it told the story it was telling. you wouldn't be like "ugh shakespeare is insane for act v btw like there was no reason for juliet to kill herself she should've just waited and then her and romeo could have been together wtf this ruined the whole play" like no!!! the themes were there the set-up was there the foreshadowing was there shakespeare did what he intended to. just because it wasn't a happy ending and just because you thought it should've went differently doesn't mean it was bad. read a fic where juliet lives and move on.
#this is about ghosts but honestly fandom in general#stop pretending the creators of things owe you certain story lines. they're making it not you#i explained it like this to my sister:#imagine you're reading a book and there are sort of hints and scenes that you take to interpret a character as gay#you cite quotes and talk about the themes and the impact of your interpretation#and then at the end of the book the character comes out as asexual.#and then a lot of those scenes and quotes that you were using as evidence for your interpretation-#now they could be construed to have been pointing towards them being ace all along#just because it wasnt the end you fabricated in your head based on your understanding of the hints#doesn't mean it wasnt always the writers plan from the beginning.#AND it doesnt mean you can't keep imagining a world where they're gay instead#it just means that the writer was leaving those clues to point you towards the ending#and you interpreted the clues differently#bbc ghosts#ghosts spoilers#bc like. if last resort was the ending#you could 'read' the whole series with the understanding that they weren't going to leave the house#and the foreshadowing would add up#but now with the special. you can go back and 'read' the series with the understanding that they leave#and it still all adds up. the foreshadowing was there it just meant something different than you thought.#stories have beginnings middles and ends#you predetermined the ending while still in the middle and got mad when you weren't right.#does that make sense?

Calling people who are passionate about movies and TV!!!
This survey is for my class, and we just need more responses!
I don’t mean to sound like I’m begging— but I really need more responses if I want to get a passing grade on this project! So far we haven’t even passed 90 responses, we need at least 400 and it is due in a few days. If you can’t fill it out, PLEASE reblog or share it! That would really help me out!!!
I cannot thank you enough if you take just a couple minutes out of your day to help me pass my class, I would GREATLY appreciate it <3
Thank you for reading! ❤️

My main problem with the Christmas special is that I feel like it wasn't really about the ghosts. We were spending all this time with a character we haven't see much of, and I at least wasn't particularly invested (especially since the "overbearing mother-in-law" bit is so played out). And while I didn't want to see all the ghosts move on, it would have been nice if one of them had finally done so, especially Robin. I think it's kind of sad that they're all just stuck there forever apparently, and now they don't even have Alison. I don't know, I see what they were going for, but it just didn't work for me at all.

the thing about star trek tos is that it's so good conceptually. it'll set up a really captivating ethical dilemma. it'll have a premise that could be so politically bold. but every single time the episode takes the most revisionist route possible in how it "deals" with the conflict.
i.e. "Let This Be Your Last Battlefield". a fairly good, albeit very simplified, representation of the oppressor touting peace (as a means to stabilize society by instilling submission from the oppressed) vs. the resistance of the oppressed through necessary violence and disruption of the status quo.
but of course star trek decides to denounce the oppressed's methods as the reason their society is completely destroyed. and they have kirk make some grand speech about how great it is to take a moderate approach and always try to compromise. kill yourself
exact same thing happened with "The Cloud Minders" with them setting up a class divide premise but then doubling back and is like "oh no the people forced to live in the mines and do unpaid labor for the rich people in the clouds just have a biological deficiency built up from exposure to minerals that makes them really angry so lets just solve the anger issue and they can be normal functioning citizens in the mines again!" "and maybe we'll ask the people in the cloud castle to maybe give them better wages too and maybe come up to the castle sometimes!" it is LITERALLY THE IVORY TOWER
let's see, similar acts of cowardice happen in
mark of gideon
dagger of the mind
conscience of the king (kind of though this could be justified by kirk's internal struggle)
the omega glory
plato's stepchildren
Patterns of Force (this one gets praised ALL THE TIME about being anti-fascist but literally they punch like one nazi and then the resolution of the episode is them being like 'people can change! let's leave all the existing government officials in place and just tell them to be nice to the people they committed genocide against from now on! they were just mislead it's not their fault!' like i would think kirk would be a little more resistant to just fucking letting them be considering how ready he was to arm the populace in A Private Little War?)
the writers also have this issue where they can't stand to see societies not "progressing" by basing the value of their lives on innovation and capital. so places like the tribe in "The Apple" somehow become things to be fixed by western notions of progress? but yeah just go settler colonialism right?

What if all the winners of the Life Series remember a previous life/world of their after they've won?
Like Grian, Pearl, and Martyn remember Evo smp while Scott remembers Empires (s1 specifically cuz he won before that season was over).
Sure, everyone has bits of memories and familiarity about their lives outside of the life series (ie Jimmy finding the symbol on the secret keeper familiar) but it isn't like full on remembering like the winners have.
Maybe that's why Martyn's lore with the watchers and listeners is stronger this season. Maybe that's why Martyn gravitates to Jimmy this season. He remembers. He remembers everything.

I HAVE A HEADCANON
ok so, since nell's a theater kid and reads shakespeare, she can understand how alastor talks/all the 16th century slang he uses
and by extension, she understands his insults(and the gravity he intends for them to have)
despite this, she cannot take him seriously(bc after all, he's an itty bitty fluffy fox cussing her out in iambic pentameter)
also when nell gets bored she'll make wild ass claims to al in shakespearian english and insist upon their truth just so she can talk all dramatic for about thirty minutes before she dies lauging (al, of course, takes her completely seriously, and is utterly bemused when she does this)
prosper has no clue what either of them are saying
but after the first time he asked nell what they were bickering about and she pauses to reply "he doesn't think i can uncook an egg without magic" before getting right back into character to continue stating her case, he smiles whenever he sees them having their petty debates

not to be negative on main but jjk is pissing me off, man
#jjk spoilers#not to be a hater but I got into the series bc I cared about the characters#and now they’re all dropping like flies in a terribly paced fight scene#sukuna’s honestly less interesting the more screen time he gets bc it’s clear the dude’s just a lazy bum with nothing better going on#like yeah I get that’s the point n the theme of the series is having stuff to live for but like#it’s not fun to watch#you can make a lazy villain fun to watch#but when they keep saying he’s not even trying???#first of all:bullshit#he was on the ropes the entire gojo fight and had to resort to MEGUMI’s technique to win#second of all: why the FUCK should I care if everyone can’t individually beat him?????#this boring ass boss rush bettter be building up to something along the lines of like#the heroes all getting healed by shoko and revealing that they were intentionally distracting Sukuna#so they can all face him as a group#bc u just know Sukuna would be FUMING if he lost to the collective efforts of a bunch of weaker sorcerers with lives outside of jujutsu#instead of someone he saw as equal to him#that’d be hilarious and work perfectly within the themes of the series#but no#gege at this point feels like an edgelord who thinks that it’s stupid how other manga have stuff like#friendship#and faith in humanity#and good pacing and writing—what who said that last part#also where tf are nobara and todo#u brought MIGUEL back first and not the INTERESTING characters?#death of a thousand paper cuts

I’m surprised Lobo hasn’t shown up in the Harley Quinn series as of yet, it makes perfect sense for him to show up in a series where many male characters get their comeuppance in being misogynistic and harassers.
Considering the teaser trailer showed the villains them going to the moon for a convention? Possibly, but perhaps not cause I don’t want to get my hopes up like that lol

In the episode “Kid,” we see that Steve was part of a group of clowns who starred in the musical Cats, hinting at a larger clown population living on Earth. All of them were captured long before Steve was. Steve is the only real clown left on Earth, and he’s desperately trying to lay low so he doesn’t get captured like the others did.
Steve and Cesare don’t have a cute rivalry like a lot of people (myself included) originally thought they did. Cesare is the sole agent of an underworld initiative trying to eliminate Steve’s species from the planet.
