The Driftmark Incident
Lately the discourse around what happened between Jace, Luke, Baela, Rhaena, and Aemond at Driftmark has gotten out of hand. Both sides are pointing fingers left and right and are so quick to blame the other for the situation. But it just shows how severe the unnecessary debates have gotten. No one on either sides is willingly to show any compassion or nuance towards the situation. So let me make the following points clear:
Rhaena and Baela were grieving little girls that didn't understand how dragon bonds work.
Aemond had every right to bond with Vaghar.
Jace brought a blade because he was a little boy who thought he was going to face off against an unknown theif.
Aemond and Rhaena instigated the fight. Aemond was disrespectful of the loss the girls were going through. Rhaena was accusatory and defensive. Aemond should not have insulted her unprompted. Rhaena should not have tried to shoved him. Aemond should not have thrown Rhaena into the wall.
Baela escalated the fight by punching Aemond, and while it is understandable why she did so she should not have.
Aemond punching her back, while also understandable, was wrong. However, he escalated the situation by threatening Baela.
Jace and Luke were not apart of the argument, nor were they lining up for their turn in the fight. They even waited after Baela was punched. It wasn't until Aemond explicitly threatened to kill Baela that Jace got involved.
Aemond was clearly stronger and more skilled than his cousins and had the upper hand during that fight. It was not an ambush on an unskilled victim.
Luke did not get involved until Jace was on the ground. Luke should not have come at Aemond. Aemond should not have grabbed him and punched the 7 year old in the face.
It was wrong of Jace, Baela, and Rhaena to gang up on Aemond. That was an unfair fight, but it was a response to Aemond causing each of them physical harm.
Luke should not have tried to come at Aemond after he knocked over the other 3.
Aemond grabbing Luke to stop his attack should have been where that fight ended. Aemond once again escalated the situation by grabbing a rock and threatening to kill Luke. He also was baiting Luke and Jace by calling them bastards.
Jace should NOT have pulled his knife.
Aemond should NOT have struck him with the rock.
It is understandable that the children believed he was actually going to kill Jace. He had threatened to do so. He was holding the rock in the air like he was going to. He took pleasure in seeing how they were frightened in that situation *please watch the scene and take note of how he looks to observe the girl's reaction to him*.
Luke was a 7 year old who had just been attacked, threatened, and watched his brother and cousins experience the same. He was scared and irrational. That does NOT justify taking out Aemond's eye.
The adults severely mishandled the aftermath of the incident.
Alicent was justified in her anger over the injury to her son.
There was nothing Luke or Rhaenyra could have said or done in amends that Alicent would have accepted.
There was absolutely zero accountability from either side in what happened.
No one was in the right during the Driftmark incident.
There was no justification for anything that happened that evening. It was one escalation after another. The purpose of the situation was not to show how evil one side was or who the "bad guys" are. This was an incident involving literal CHILDREN. The youngest was only 7 years old and the oldest no more than 12. They were children who should have never been in the situations they were in. That's the entire point. The animosity and infighting of the adults around them had spread like a disease and now infected the children. Every adult could have prevented it from happening but they failed their kids.
Alicent should have never have told her kids about her doubts about the Velaryon Boy's legitimacy. She should not have been so blatantly hateful towards Rhaenyra and her family, and allowed those attitudes to grow. She should not have been poisoning her kids with the notion Rhaenyra was planning to kill them. She should have known where her kids were that night.
Rhaenyra should have addressed the accusations about her sons LONG before she did. She should have dispelled the rumors before they were old enough to know about them. She also should have removed her kids from that environment much sooner so they did not develop the complex they did. She should have known where her kids were that night.
Daemon should have spent less time trying to bang his niece and more time paying attention to his grieving daughters. He should have been helping them work through their loss. He should have known where his kids were that night.
Laenor should not have been so absent in his role as the boy's father. He, like Rhaenyra, should have put a stop to the rumors long before. He should have known where his kids were that night.
Viserys, as the KING, should have put a stop to Alicent's behavior. He should have addressed the rumors well before he did. He should have payed enough attention to his wife and kids to recognize the increasingly dangerous animosity in his house. He should have known where his kids were that night.
If a single adult had been mindful of the kids it wouldn't have happened.

My Thoughts on Sonic Prime Season 3 (Spoilers Ahead!) I'm going to structure this in a sandwich style of reviewing, because there's a lot of good, a bit of bad, and a decent chunk of lame shit. Let's hop in, shall we? The Best: Grim Big Let's start this review off with the thing I adored about this season the most: GRIM BIG, BABY!!! Grim Big is the funniest shit ever and I loved every moment he was on screen The Lame: The Grim Bots (Minus Grim Big) The Grim Bots are cool in concept, but they just don't really do anything and have no notable personalities. They're just there as fodder. Alpha Grim Sonic does get a TINY bit of personalization in episode 5, but that is ENTIRELY carried by Shadow challenging him to "prove his worth" and the mild scowl AGS gives in response. Also the Grim Birdies are the most annoying fucking things in existence and I hate their sound effect. Alpha Grim Sonic could NEVER be Chaos Sonic.
The Great: Fight Scenes One of the best aspects of this season was the fight scenes (minus the ones within the Kracken and Mothership) by far. All of them are such a treat to my eyes and I loved every second of it. The Lame: Inconsistencies The writing seems to pingpong in tone a lot. One minute everything is hopeless, and then sonic has a plan. That plan falls apart due to infighting, rinse and repeat. Nine also feels a little inconsistent, as sometimes he's angsty, sometimes he's cocky, and sometimes he's manic. It's pretty jarring. Dread is also inconsistent. He said in either episode 2 or 3 that he had no incentive to fight, and then in episode 4 onwards, he's fighting with enthusiasm. He really only gets an actual incentive in episode fucking 6, which he abandons IN THE SAME EPISODE.
The Good: Nine While Nine was a bit inconsistent at times, he was still pretty good in this season. I can tell the VA and animators really tried. I just wish he was given a better and less inconsistent script. He gets really good in the final 3 or so episodes.
The Bad: The Retro Scene Just like in other seasons of Prime, the retro scene was pretty bad. But I feel that this season, it felt especially cheap and unnecessary. It looked like a fucking flash animation. Not even dialogue this time. It was pointless too because the entire first season had Sonic reminding Nine of him and Tails' friendship.
The Extra-Enjoyable: Jack, Squad Commander Red, and Renegade Knucks All three of these were great. Some were greater than others (Renegade Knucks was definitely the best by far and was the one of the only characters I can definitively say I cared about. Like, Renegade absolutely STOLE the show.) I enjoyed watching them on screen. Again, some more than others (I love you, Renegade Knucks), but all were enjoyable nonetheless. The Thing I'm Undecided About: Sappiness Sonic is a sappy guy. I am more than aware of that. However, I feel a few scenes put too much sappiness for the scene, or used sappiness when it could be used elsewhere. For the sake of being fair, the sappiness in the final episode WAS a good use of it. Overall not my biggest problem with the season. (I ran out of bads so the sandwich style ends here)
The STUNNING: Animation The animation in this season was PHENOMENAL. Multiple times this season, my brain was just in constant awe with how good it looked. Everyone was super expressive and bouncy. Definitely amazing. The Peak: Shadow Shadow was GREAT this season. I loved his interactions almost as much as I loved Renegade Knucks. Definitely the best Shadow has been written in a WHILE. It was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise flanderized character. We got a bit of Shadow in season 2, but this is where I think he really shines. I certainly will not forget the ultimate lifeform beefing with a 9 year old. Peak, honestly The Very Nice: Rusty I feel Rusty had more time to shine this season. She had more lines, her animation was more expressive, and even her voice actress seemed to read her lines with a bit more emotion. I especially liked her monologue against Alpha Grim Amy. Show's still not canon though :)

hey, what do you mean by puritanical views?
I'm guessing you're referring to my bio? Puritanical views are views that fall under anti-sex, anti-kink, anti-queer, anti-science-- they all follow the same trend of "sex is bad, teaching about safe and ethical sex practices is bad, having kinks and fetishes is bad, thought crime is real, masturbation is a sin, your sexual preferences make up your value as a person, etc.". I do not tolerate any of it and very often like to make fun of those who regurgitate this kind of brain-dead rhetoric. Especially considering all the fucking studies and other info we have easy access to nowadays, people believing dumb and easily disproven things is funny but also sad as hell. Same with people believing things that directly harm them (and trust me, puritan rhetoric harms anyone.) But I've seen an influx of this hyper-conservative, somewhat reactionary ideal in queer spaces where it Especially has no place-- so it is something I am much more loudly against than some other things because it's a problem that is causing unnecessary infighting and is creating a new generation of extra self-hating assimilationists. My blog will never be a space for puritan rhetoric and I think purity culture is both stupid and harmful. Hope that answered your question.

Incident Report for March 18XX
Writing this from an undisclosed location. Please destroy your copy of this once you’ve read it. Can’t afford to blow my cover.
I’ve ingratiated myself into a Ministry’s internal affairs department. I won’t say which, for security reasons, but let’s say that it has provided me with much closer access to the Bazaar. I hope to study their movements and provide clearer information about the suspected activities of MF.  MF’s sudden interest in certain industries must mean something, though as of yet I cannot determine what. I am under the impression this may be an attempt to encroach on MSP’s territory- infighting, perhaps?  Given that MF and MSP have not been outwardly hostile before, I can only imagine there is more going on there.
Infighting could be good for the cause, but I worry too much will destabilise London before we are ready to deal with the consequences. Total liberation cannot be achieved if half the city is obliterated by a tyrant’s temper tantrum. Again. Back to the usual reporting- today under the guise of delivering permits, I snuck into the back of one of MF’s processing plants and witnessed an unusual altercation. MP had apparently been visiting; abnormal behaviour, as MF and MP are not allies as far as we are aware. We may need to look into that- I will see if some recent censorship has MF’s grubby fingerprints on it. The Ministry of Public Decency has been used for governmental overreach by other Masters before. Perhaps MF needed something covered up. Then again, no such conversation was had. It was mostly pointless, unnecessary bickering. Perhaps the two have some dispute. I will have to ask those who keep a closer eye on MP if it has been acting strangely lately. Perhaps something to do with the printing presses? They are technically machines- MF may have some claim, whether real or imagined. That could be an interesting angle to work if we wanted to pit them against one another.
Regardless, the conversation was mostly whispered, so I did not get a clear picture of what exactly they were arguing about. I have a feeling it may come in handy to get a better idea later.  I will have to ask around and see what I can find.
I will report with more information later. For now, au revoir. May the month serve you well.
Collected Notes on The Frigid-Hearted Professor
I have been hearing reports through a mutual associate that there has been reported engagement between MW and The Frigid-Hearted Professor (henceforth abbreviated Professor FH). Professor FH is not usually the type to become involved in any of MW’s ventures, which is why this stood out to me.
His history is much easier to find than I would have expected. Respectable background, sudden and intense fall from grace alongside the fall from the Surface, a rocky history, a brief period of something resembling a normal life, and then he completely fell off the map. It’s a tale as old as time, down here. The Neath takes as much as it gives. In this case, it has definitely given more than it has taken. I will admit I feel a bit sorry for the poor fellow. I cannot imagine the isolation is doing him any favours. Well, I would feel sorry for him. He has been, according to various sources, buying up a great deal of Black Wing Absinthe. Which is likely not a good sign. I am not as familiar with the stuff, but I have a contact who has dealt with past Vake Hunters. They are… not the easiest people to get along with. Something about that one specific bounty drives people to lengths most would consider untenable. The reward money is a great deal of money, enough for most people to live comfortably for the rest of their lives, and for future generations to do so as well.  Still, I don’t think I believe that is what is drawing Professor FH to this particular hunt. From what little I’ve learned about him, I don’t think money is a particularly strong motivator. I mean, he lives in the Marshes. I can think of few places worse to live in than those awful, awful marshes.
I digress. When I discovered the issue of the Black Wing Absinthe, I presumed that MW had been keeping an eye on his purchases and was perhaps monitoring the situation itself. Which would be unusual, but alcohol of all kinds does fall under its domain. Perhaps MW suspects some sort of illegal smuggling? Given Professor FH’s history of (admittedly petty) crime, that is not entirely unlikely, though I doubt it would have been enough to warrant such personal attention. MW is not the kind of Master to do its own work. It has servants for that.
Perhaps some other plot of its has Professor FH as a key element? Who knows. It may very well simply have hired him for some sort of work. It would not be the first time for such things. Either way, I suggest we keep an eye on their interactions until we can know for certain. Whatever Professor FH and MW are getting up to, it could be troublesome. I would not like to have to work around the two of them if they were in league with one another.
Either way, however, there’s nothing much I can do for now. I will send a follow-up if I learn more. May the month serve you well.
Incident Report for May 18XX
I’m sending this letter more as a warning than a formal report. Please follow standard protocol with this missive once you’ve read it.
MW and MSP are fighting again. It appears to be more viscous than their usual fare, which leads me to believe it will begin to bleed out across several areas of London. Commerce, at the very least, will likely be tense for some time. I’d also suggest informing any operatives working closely under/around either to take caution. Now seems like a very good time to get one’s head severed from their body for minor offences. MW and MSP were spotted in a small stretch of processing facilities in Spite; I believe there was disputed Ministry territory nearby, and they had come to sort something out, only to end up in a conflict. They left the area rather disturbed- I believe that factory will remain abandoned for some time.
I managed to get close enough to record their conversation. Below is a transcription of their conversation. Read at your own risk.
MW: We think you are being purposefully obstinate to get a rise out of Us, and We will not be falling for the bait. We have better things to do than feed into your delusions. MSP: I’m the delusional one? Me? You must have hit the bottle too hard today. I am being perfectly rational in my demands.
MW: We will concede nothing! You have not won. You are the one insisting that We give up something that is rightfully Ours.
MSP: You are such a sore loser. One would think with how often one has lost in all things, that you would have gotten used to it by now. MW: We are- no. We have already said our piece. You are pressing your luck. You always do this! You always insist on being covetous- first with your encroachment on our territory, and now with this petty dispute of yours. It is a bad look on you. MSP: You are just too frightened of facing the consequences of your own failings. I suppose I cannot have expected better from you of all people. Your own failings got you stuck down here, and you’d rather play at being allies than actually-
MW; We are done with this conversation! We have nothing else to say to the likes of you. If you wish to whine some more, we suggest finding someone who will care to listen, because it will not be us.
MSP: You are running away with your tail between your legs! Again! Upset because I am right-
MW: Good day!
After this exchange, MW stormed off and MSP began to look a little twitchy, so I made the decision to get out of the building before it started on a rampage of its own. As you can see, something has definitely happened between the two of them. I am unsure as to what, but it spells terrible things for London’s immediate safety. I will report back with more information once I’ve determined what has caused such intense conflict.
May the month serve you well.
Compiled Notes on The Avaricious Meddler
Recently I’ve received reports of rumours involving supposed fighting between The Avaricious Meddler (henceforth abbreviated AM) and MF. This intrigued me, so I have decided to do some digging into the matter.
The first thing I ought to note is that it is extraordinarily hard to pin down a consistent history for AM. Frankly, I could not even tell you how old they are. It does not help that AM has a decent enough cover-identity that discovering what they are up to at any given moment is near impossible. Though, I do find that particular skill of theirs highly intriguing. Would that half the people I know were so good at blending in. We’d lose far less operatives, surely.
Regardless, what I can tell you is that they appear to be causing MF a world of trouble. I have never seen MF so obviously irritated. Well, more so than usual. MF is always irritated. I cannot speak to what AM is doing to cause this- I have noticed one of MF’s usual henchmen, whose name I dread even abbreviating in case it summons him like an evil spirit, has been suspiciously active. Not in his usual ways- activity at the Docks has slowed down considerably. No, something else is going on there. I would bet both my arms that it has to do with AM’s sudden uptick in activity. Perhaps AM has stolen something? Foiled some plan? Skipped out on coal taxes one time too many? I will have to ask around some.
Perhaps I will ask around the University. There has been some kind of hubbub in those circles as of late. I cannot say for sure any of these facts are connected, but one never knows? In this line of work, I’d not rule anything out.
And until I get confirmation on just what AM is planning, I will have to discreetly keep an eye out for them. I wonder if I can get into some of their usual haunts. I’m not one for the rooftops myself, but they have been spotted around Urchins a number of times. Maybe one of them will speak to me. That is all I have to share for now. May the month serve you well.
Incident Report for June, 18XX
I witnessed today an encounter between MH and MV that may be another sign of the increased infighting between the various parties in London.
MH and MV are not a pair I usually see in my observations. MH is not the most sociable of them, from what I have gathered, or at the very least keeps odd hours, and MV is volatile enough that most of the others avoid it. And yet there they were, outside a set of factories in Spite, conversing. If I did not see it with my own two eyes I would not have believed it.
I immediately set myself up to continue observing. In Spite, pretending to be engrossed in the fabric market is an excellent way to keep oneself faded into the background. I did end up having to buy several yards of cheap linen, but it was worth it to get a sense of what they were talking about.
It seemed to be a rather heated argument of some kind. I couldn’t get enough of it to compile a transcript- MV speaks rather low at times- but the gist of it seemed to be about a debt to be repaid. Perhaps those rumours of MV’s struggling factories were not too far off. I ought to look into it. Another project for the list. Whatever the case may be, the reminder seemed to upset MV, worse than usual. MH was as jovial as ever, perhaps moreso. It must be owed a great deal. Or it delights in causing its companion grief.
It said something further to its companion, and this seemed to be some sort of tipping point. MV got in extraordinarily close, and then it appeared to bite MH.  Admittedly I nearly blew my cover out of shock. I know that MV has never been the most sociable of the Bazaar, but I never in my life would have expected to see it bite another of its fold in public. It must be under a special sort of duress.
Whatever this debt of its is, it must be causing a great deal of trouble. Perhaps we can use this. I will endeavour to find out what is going on so that we might use it to further our own goals. Until then, may the Month serve you well.
Incident Report for July, 18XX
I am going to quit this life and flee back to the Surface to raise goats in some far-flung mountain.
I have been investigating the aforementioned incidents that have been plaguing London as of late. It’s tedious, stressful work, wading through records about trade and any odd rumours about their activities. It’s been a lot of work, but I hadn’t made much progress. Until today. I met up with someone who works rather closely with one of the Masters. They’re by no means a confidante, but they hear much more than the average Londoner. I chanced asking them about my research, and they looked rather tired for a moment. They then proceeded to explain that for the past several months, the Masters have all been at one another’s throats over a disagreement. I asked what kind, and after a long period of silence they explained that the Masters had, in a moment of unexpected levity, deigned to play a game of cards together. This had, apparently, gone horribly. As in, broken furniture, bones, and alliances horribly. Some of them are still not even speaking to each other. Every Ministry has felt the effects of their terrible moods.
Hearing this admittedly made me want to slam my head through the table. Which means all of this infighting, all of these strange shadowy movements, all of the anxiety I have experienced in the past few months, all of it was because of a game of cards!? And not even one of the important ones!?
What a waste of time. Well, at least now we know what has been happening. Perhaps they will get over this petty squabble soon. Perhaps something new will have them all taking sides again, and the cycle will keep continuing until the next city falls on our heads. It doesn’t matter. All we can be sure of is that they will continue to be a problem until our plans succeed.
I don't even know who will read this. My lines have been dead for weeks. I may be the only one left in this circle. No matter. I will keep doing my job. I will keep my eyes on the shadowed movements of our oppressive tyrants and my fingers in every plot to thwart them. For all of London’s sake, the show must go on. May the month serve you well.

OK I know that the big meme is to try and scare Twitter users from joining but Twitter is a super toxic place and I have some friends who have fled here so. (done by voice-to-text, there may be typos)
Open Tumblr on desktop to do this because not all of these options are available on mobile. You'll be able to find all of them in your settings.
make sure you set your dashboard to chronological
turn off the ability to see other peoples likes (for reasons explained in the next bullet points)
disable your likes as being visible & disable the blogs you're following from being visible
The reason for the previous bullet points is that the Tumblr like is not the same as other social media - it is used as a bookmark button. Often times people will bookmark content to look at it later (videos, long textposts, etc.) but it is not an endorsement of the content. Information on this website is much more dense than it is on Twitter which is more bite sized, so not everyone will have read the texts or watched the videos of posts they "liked." People can and they will use your likes against you. and just like Twitter, if you happen to be following someone and that person says something the people don't agree with, if you are following that person you can get pulled into the situation even if you know nothing about it. so for this reason pretty much all of Tumblr has unanimously agreed to have their likes and follow blogs hidden to prevent unnecessary infighting.
Choosing not to see other peoples likes on your dashboard follows the same principle and it is one of respect for your fellow user
The above may seem deeply weird to Twitter users but we have far less drama on this website. It is significantly more peaceful because we have decided to curate the community in this way. You don't necessarily have to hide your likes or your follows, but that's the reason why we as a community do that. It used to get as bad as it gets on Twitter, but it doesn't anymore. We have learned to live in harmony here. fighting still occurs certainly but not nearly to the same extent.
make sure that you set the toggle that enables you to see content that is filtered on iOS. This is entirely safe for work content that was filtered out by mistake but Tumblr hast to keep in place to appease Apple or some thing like that but it does hide lot of content and prevents users from communicating with one another.
If you are 18 or older make sure to input your birthday to prove your age and have "mature content" set so that it either appears on your dashboard as normal or that it appears blurred. A lot of content is mistakenly marked as mature as a form of censorship even if it is not graphic in the slightest. I have seen text posts that use the word "fuck" that have been marked mature
YOU CANNOT POST PORN HERE. YOU WILL GET BANNED. if you post something that isn't porn and it gets flagged, you can usually appeal it. but if it is actual porn (irl or illustrated), you're in hot water. do not tag posts as "NSFW" or "NSFT" (not safe for tumblr, an alternative many porn blogs used). invent a different acronym for reblogging dirty jokes, or you may get shadow banned. i use NSFM, personally.
That said, you're technically able to say whatever you want on this website within reason. It's not like Twitter where if you say you want to guillotine the rich you get suspended or something. But do be aware that like Twitter, all text can be picked up by Tumblr search. So if you type something like " I want Stede bonnet to crush my head with his thighs like a watermelon" there is a chance that other users will see that post if they look in the stede bonnet tag. (hi all!)
most celebrities do not use this website so you're able to talk about them without censoring their names. Just be aware that fans of that celebrity may see your post.
likewise do be careful if you're talking about groups that perpetuate transphobia, because those groups do use Tumblr just like they use Twitter. if T*RFs reblog or comment on your posts, block and ignore. do not platform them by arguing. you put your followers (and accounts you follow) at risk when you engage them. you also reenforce their held beliefs that trans people are aggressive. it isn't up to you to deradicalize them. you can report people for bigotry on this website but most of the time the reports don't actually do anything. So your best friend is the block button.
The difference between commenting in the tags, commenting in the replies, and commenting directly on the post is thus:
commenting on the tags is the equivalent to sitting in a room with thousands of people and commenting to those at your table. Other people might overhear you, but the message is intended for those at the table, your friends.
Commenting in the replies is the equivalent to standing up and walking over to the person who just gave a speech. It is intended for them. Other people can overhear it and they definitely will - which means that some people might stand up and walk over to you and start talking to you. Especially if you say something really rude.
Commenting in the reblogs is the equivalent of standing on top of the table and shouting to the entire room. you don't do this unless you feel like you're contributing to the post in a comedic fashion or you're adding information that others may find helpful. Otherwise, you look like a clown. Also by commenting on a post, as with the replies, you are opening yourself up to a response from anyone else in the room. So if you're rude on someone's post, or you're spreading misinformation, people are going to want to have a word with you. You don't get to use the response "this is my blog and I say what I want" - because you've made the decision to go on to someone else's post.
Now with every form of communication, the OP of the post will be able to read everything. So if you're writing in your tags and you start trauma dumping or writing lurid sexual fantasies or otherwise being a weirdo, the OP of the post may block you. the OP (or anyone) may also choose to highlight your tags or otherwise respond to them depending on what is said. Sometimes someone will write something very funny or very thoughtful, and that's usually why. They want others to see the contribution.
There is also the notion of "prev tags." culturally, this is a relatively new development and a lot of people were mad about it at first. But the purpose of prev tags is to nod in agreement at the metaphorical table. You're keeping the conversation amongst you and your friends. Whereas screenshotting someone's tags and adding them directly into the post is the equivalent of shouting "HEY GUESS WHAT THEY SAID!" so it's entirely contextual. prev tags is also used as a meme. For example someone may say something deeply absurd. And so people will blog that post and say "prev tags" in a chain, encouraging people to follow that chain to the inevitable conclusion. A funny example I saw recorded in video form, was a text post that said something about white haired anime boys. And there was a chain of like 20 people encouraging you to work your way through the reblog. And the punchline was "Santa Claus."
although there is an option now to automatically shorten posts, it is considered proper etiquette to tag long posts as such. this post will be one.
when you reblog a post and you tag it, there are three primary things you are doing. One is to comment on it, one is to apply any categorization you wish so that you can find the post again, and one is to add filter tags for your followers who don't want to see that type of post. The last one is normally reserved for triggers - things like blood or violence or flashing images. People have different policies on this, but most users are willing to tag their posts if you ask them to. So if you were deathly afraid of frogs, you could ask someone to tag frogs for you.
and yeah Tumblr filtering actually works. If you block a tag, you will get a pop-up that obscures the content if someone blocked a post with that tag or keyword in it, giving you the option of whether or not to engage. But if you are looking in Tumblr search, those posts will be screened out automatically so you won't even see the pop-up. I think it's because Tumblr assumes that when you follow a blog you're following someone you trust, whereas Tumblr search is the wild west and it's full of strangers - so they're like "nope we are not showing you your triggers at all."
as for the second use case, you don't need to reblog a post and add 1 million categorization tags. Because other people aren't going to see your reblog in the Tumblr search. so you're wasting your time if you're like "#ofmd #our flag means death #our flag means death stede #ofmd stede #ofmd stede bonnet #our flag means death stede bonnet" - you look silly. this only works if it is the original post. Also because of the way that Tumblr works most of those tags a redundant because if you so much as mention a keyword in your post it's probably going to end up in the tag
do not tag an original post with unrelated hashtags. You will clog up the tags and people will hate you.
it is recommended that you have anon asks disabled because a lot of people use them to be cruel. But a lot of people leave them open for people who are too shy to talk to them otherwise. There are also a lot of ask games that circulate which makes use of anon. Like having your friends give you compliments, but you don't know who they are. so it's a personal decision and you can change it any time. But if people are being cruel to you, don't let them. It is OK to close anon asks.
while twitter makes great use of alt text, it is much more common on this website to write image/audio descriptions, which are pasted directly into the body of the post. Either in the original post itself, or in the replies. If someone transcribes your post for you, the etiquette is to thank them, copy their transcript, paste it onto your original post, and add a credit for the person who transcribed it. A lot of people volunteer their time doing this for people who otherwise do not have the spoons to do it themselves.
always tag flashing images and flashing videos. Do not tag with "epilepsy" - that prevents epileptic users from communicating with one another, because their tag is full of content that can hurt them. it doesn't eliminate the problem entirely, but it's part of a cultural shift to make those spaces safer in the future.
art theft is bad. Always credit and link to original sources.
The asks from people asking you to boost their fundraiser are scams. they are always scams. People on this website do not solicit one another in this way even if they need help.
if you like a post, you should reblog it. That allows your followers to see it and gives the post more reach. The likes as I said before, function as a bookmark. They are also used to show emotional support to a friend.
Tumblr has recently introduced the concept of unrebloggable posts. You can make a post unrebloggable from the get-go or you can edit it later. you can also make it so that the original post remains rebloggable, but an individual reblog of it cannot be shared. So for example, I could make a shit post that takes off and people enjoy. And let's say someone was rude to me in response to the shit post. I could reblog my own post, say " don't be an asshole" - and then make it so that the "don't be an asshole" edition is not shareable, but leave the original shitpost to be shared. some people may choose to make their original post and unshareable if they are receiving too many notifications, they are being harassed, the original post had misinformation, or simply for fun. Some people have started a sort of "you can only reblog this post until x date" game.
Tumblr has a feature known as the read more. Read more is actually a lot more complex than most people realize. The read more allows you to hide a long string of text under it, sparing people on your dashboard from having to scroll a long time. But a read more is not a drop-down button. It is a redirect link that takes you to the original post. And because of this, if the original post is edited, you will always see the most up-to-date version under the read more. This makes it an excellent format for news posts with developing stories. But because of this set up, if the original post is deleted or the blog is deactivated/banned, the information underneath is lost forever. it is important to be aware of that. Even if you reblog that post, whatever is underneath is entirely determined by whether or not the original post can still be accessed. So if you want some thing to be archived, do not put it under or read more. If your blog gets wrongfully deleted, that information is gone and cannot be recovered unless you have cache on the way back machine.
do not use a default profile picture and do not have a blank blog (blog with no reblogs). You will scare the user base and they will block you on site. The first thing you should do upon joining Tumblr is immediately changing your icon and then finding a or two to reblog. This tells people that you are a human being, and not a bot.
you can have sideblogs on this website. In fact there is no limit to how many blogs you can own. The only limit is how many sideblogs you are permitted to make per day. Side blogs allow you to organize content by fandom or theme. However the side blog will always be tied to your main blog. You cannot delete your main blog and keep your sideblogs, you cannot select a sideblog to be your new main. And when you send someone an ask, comment in the reply section of a post, or click like on a post, it will display as your main blog. So total anonymity is not possible. You can, however, send and reply to DM using your sideblog, as well as answer asks directed towards the sideblog, and reblog a post (and comment in the comment section + tags) as that blog.
URL hoarding is when someone makes the decision to save a username by making a blank sideblog so other people cannot use it. this is considered kind of an asshole move, especially if you have a lot of URLs hoarded, but I think most users have at least one or two that they have saved for a rainy day. I know for a while I had a lot that were Spock themed. you are able to change your user name, but that releases it into the wild. So some people will hoard their previous usernames to prevent identity theft (as well as to redirect to their most current username if people are looking for them.) This is a different thing, but some people view them as being the same.
Tumblr does not use "OOMF" or "moots" - we usually just say the entire word of followers and mutuals. Some people might be confused if you use Twitter terminology here
i think that covers most of it. no i will not put this under a readmore. thank you.

season 6 rewatch bits
6x01 mmm i can tell where the narrative center shifted, we went from the flashbacks from Rewind and literally one mention of Daisy quaking the earth. not one mention of the mutinies, the infighting, the Odium vs Centipede serum? also no 5x14 which is... pivotal, to say the least. we went straight to Coukson and Fitz dying and the reassurance of Fitz being out there, just feeling like we're seeing a different perspective of season 5 here (Jemma's) also it's like we're not going to resolve the conflict, just the deaths which is... something
welp Jemma's decision-making is still stuck in season 5... or it's just really plot-driven (probably both)
6x02 this show has a problem with introducing side characters only to kill them not long after. it started with Hand, then Idaho and Hartley, Trip, Andrew, all the notable inhumans under Jiaying, Mace and Burrows, Fox, Keller, who's next? ah, damn it, Davis is next
6x03 to even think about the fact that someone thought and wrote 6x03 to fruition is... damn lol im sure Elizabeth and Chloe had fun filming this
6x04 first episode without Daisy in it. sigh
OH MY GOD TREVOR KHAN I MISSED YOU
LOOOOOOOVE THAT REVEAL PLS though ain't that every "Skye is secretly a shield agent" fanfic
ew not this Remorath Rumble. i mean, okay, make a fortune with what you went through i get it, that's your business. but shit i draw the line at sexualizing a real person, who the hell even thought of this?
lols Sequioa does not give a Shit i respect that so much
May's face card is so 😩
6x05 again i will say YO-YO FACE CARD IS SO PRISTINE pls i love this trend of "i will look sooo pretty to compensate for how the plot treated me" tbh they need it
oh those smashcuts of May and Coulson in Tahiti to May facing Sarge is just... damn uncalled for
6x06 not much to say about this 'cause i saw a rewatch of this not long ago. all in all, it's a very creative way to portray trauma, like when Jemma was thinking about a memory, Mack physically manifests. or when they thought about Coulson recruiting them for 616, they actually lived it. very very creative and it's interesting did before it was cool and wandavision copied did it 😗✌️
one concern though (you think someone like me would stay silent about a FS centric episode? in your dreams lmao), "we don't fully understand it." Jemma Simmons, who was there in the aftermath of the time loop, with at least 2 PhDs, wasn't able to piece it all together? please. idk about y'all but i'm pretty sure i understood it clearly: time monolith shard plugged into a resonator in future!Z1 liquifies the monolith in their present (instead of shooting the vibrations directly at the monolith like with the space one in S3, the time one could be affected, as it could, through time). it was then that Robin Hinton foresaw that future and searched for Enoch who has the resources to have the team be at the time monolith for when the resonator works in 2091 and the time monolith liquifies. Fitz creates time travel by designing the resonator that 2091-ers would be able to use, but here's the thing: the Chronicoms want to go back, not forward. SHIELD can only do the latter by this point. if there was someone who could point a resonator towards the time monolith in like, 5CE, they just might have a chance in saving Chronyca-2, but now, SHIELD doesn't have that kind of intel. to quote Skye fron Pilot, you've got nothing. i see that this is an attempt to make Fitz and Simmons non-expendable and y'know, "central" to the plot and maybe it doesn't work for me because i think it falls flat (because i've pieced some stuff together). look, this science fiction is grasping at straws and if my hypothesis is right, it's also... unnecessary. so yeah. yikes 😬
6x07 lol did Deke not get the Daisy is a hacker memo lmao i get it now, mack's making him useful
i am obsessed with how done Daisy is with Deke
"he was turning into a dragon" methinks they got Netflix in space
ohhhh Coulson's memories, I see you. That was definitely May the first time, the second's Daisy? idk what to make of all those blobs lol omg i turned out to be right !!!
you can feel the central narrative vibes as the camera closed in on Fitz, y'all ain't subtle at all
6x08 i am not fluent in vague DAMNNNNNN who wouldn't want a director like this
lol Daisy introducing herself as a hacker after Deke showed off, idc if these two events are related or not that's lowkey petty and i am here for it
this apparently geared to be my least favorite episode of the season. FS are on board a ship that'll feed them to their imminent doom. and the whole 'nother Fitz thing, sorry this is just, weird. just like LMD!Coulson, though that introduction was less jarring (doesn't make it less weird) it's during times like this I wish Fitz survived the fall or he didn't make it back to the present, idk something to save this "replace Fitz with another Fitz" scenario. Coulson, at least, ended things on his own terms, despite the pushback, and even as an LMD, he has the option to shut down and be dismantled for good; SWORD was certainly able to do so with a lot of Vision's. Fitz, for all his faults, doesn't deserve to live while having missed 17-ish episodes all the while his family and colleagues ran around with another version of himself, though he did it to himself, he created time travel after all. but it also wouldn't have mattered much if he lived after 5x22?
6x09 "take him away, boys" ????? is he ok
LMFAO Deke is so convinced Daisy is into him, is he okay???? like, last season, he stepped back because he found out she was still in love with Lincoln but why is he not doing that now
6x10 interesting how Daisy was the one who pointed out that Izel had no memory of her hosts. no doubt she's recalled the last time someone was possessed... and boy did that end badly. she was also the one who went "you don't only have his face, you have his memories." in season 3
"i can still break through this glass." no cell nor prison could hold her and i love it
with that said, i'm glad Izel never got to Daisy. it felt like everyone rallied around her to keep her safe and i think that's so sweet
everyone's acting chops are so sick /pos as Izel jumped from one person to another, felt very consistent with Karolina Wydra's work as Izel, kind of had to shake myself and remember that no possession was actually occuring lol
Davis... sigh. tbh i've thought of Daisy catching him like how she caught Rosalind in season 3, and if her being possessed by Izel is an issue, she could quake her to oblivion, or have her and mack do that pincer move they will pull on Pachakutiq in the finale. ngl i feel like she's immune...? Simmons said Izel's powers were vibration-based and she oscillates from one person to another by setting herself in the spaces between atoms. what if Daisy emits the frequency she did on the space monolith, or even with the Shrike just an episode earlier? this was how the wristbands of immunity worked, and while it was helpful for the rest of the team, Daisy, quite frankly, doesn't need them. but going back to catching Davis and stuff, narratively it won't work imo. it'd be too sudden and it's not really personal for her, then again it's only personal to Fitzsimmons and i'm not sure what they could do here exactly, but tbh Daisy could end this whole damn thing two episodes too early but alas, for that very reason, they didn't have her do so. i am Pissed because we had FS running around thinking of how to repel vibrations when you literally have someone who could do it on the fly. y'all had her do it before (see 4x13 BOOM!) why not do it again?
couple of things to summarize my thoughts of 6x11-6x13 because i was itching to start season 7
Izel uses sonic frequencies. and they literally said her powers were "vibration based" YOU LITERALLY HAVE A VIBRATION MANIPULATOR. lots of people wouldn't have died. idk how that just sped through their heads and the first time around i was constantly complaining at the screen because my stem brain was so close to giving up the show. again. because of this.
sort of not liking how Simmons just took a back seat, trying to placate both Fitz and Deke. girl, idk how to tell you this but there's better company...? deke is a nuisance also this is such a sexist position to put Simmons in
Daisy is once again in-charge (de-facto, pretty sure she's deputy director at this point) and no one's batting an eye hence that tense atmosphere whenever Daisy's with fs. no emotional resolution for you, the writers said (that makes this even more lackluster tbh)
ooh and here's something bugging me about May and Daisy since i noticed it in season 4: they're not passing the Bechdel test. almost every conversation they've had was about Coulson here. sure, we're working through grief here but you really could've done a lot better
why do the writers like pitting Daisy and Elena against each other so damn much literally what gives
why couldn't Daisy just quake the shrike zombies into dust and oblivion...?
i'm going to admit seeing Fitz be so damn frustrated at Deke (like me) is pretty funny lol "What's West?" and he bellows "towards the bloody sun!" in full scottish rage. i respect his frustrations at Deke. tbh i go through Daisy being done to Fitz nearing a full blown rampage when it comes to this character. Jeff Ward may be a good actor but the character is Not It
TREVOR'S DEAD I HATE IT HERE
pls tell me Diaz is still alive, again, they have issues with introducing side characters by name only to kill them. Piper is an exception, and Davis was almost excempted.
The way my heart dropped at seeing May being impaled. Why does this need to happen, again?
Mulan reference! knew that pose looked familiar
i was so close to liking FS again 'cause they were about to sacrifice themselves (which honestly sounds like the peak of their arc) but boom the plot is knocking
ah so this is where we screw up the damn timeline.
this season doesn't necessarily fall flat, but it does feel... odd to me. it doesn't have the same vibe as the rest of the show, and it's probably because its central narrative as of late is Fitz and Simmons as opposed to, say, Coulson and Daisy. it's also probably why the bigger plot of season 7 felt idk, weird or rushed or something, because Coulson & Daisy are back as central to the narrative but it reverts back to FitzSimmons and their 5-year journey in deep space. Not that I mind it at all (okay, maybe a little), they're just not as compelling as Coulson and Daisy, the latter who I feel like we're just scratching the surface (idk about y'all but I would've loved to see a flashback episode on Daisy's life hopefully secret invasion or phase 5 supplies us with some of that). Simmons, personally, I think could've had her moments if it weren't for her character and arc being so intrinsically tied to Fitz; he's already had his run with the Doctor and recovery from his brain injury, and all of 5x05, kind of wished Jemma had her own, navigating her newfound authority in season 4, or having had to expand her capabilities in season 5 covering Fitz's ground for six episodes, or even rediscovering herself after Fitz died other than Maveth in season 3.

just wanna add my thoughts on the ts crit situation (sorry its a bit of a ramble):
ive noticed that a good portion of the anti-criticism posts i've seen are coming from new(er) fans of the show. it's not always the case, but it seems to be a bit of a running theme.
i dont really have much to say abt the anti-crit stuff other than "mind your own" lol honestly. i cant speak for everyone in the pro-crit tags, but i know you and i have been here a long time. we've been through a lot, us longstanding fans. we've seen so many cursed posts and controversies and bad takes in this fandom. so much drama and unnecessary infighting in this weird morality war that people insist on participating in (dont even get me started on the purity culture issues lmao)
this is not (and never was) a black and white issue, and those of us who have been here a while should be able to vent our bottled up frustrations abt the fandom and the creators and whatever else we damn well please tbh. we've earned at least that, i think. i'm all for the bitch fest, it's healthier than pretending nothing is wrong ever.
tldr: a lot of us have very valid criticisms, and boiling our argument down to "boo hoo its taking too long, i dont wanna wait" is really insulting lmao. also if you don't like posts criticizing your favorite show then you don't have to read them. narrow down who you follow or whatever and let people vent on their own blogs. we've been through this guys, did we learn nothing from the unsympathetic sides era? lskjdflskjdflskd
anyway im having a great time reading the crit content, keep up the good work everyone <3

I really hate the constant infighting with the pre-hiatus and post-hiatus music. Like this shit is just so annoying like it’s all Fall Out Boy and if you expect people to write the same music they wrote in their 20s in their 40s it’s just unfair and unrealistic. Sure there are artists that get in a groove and stick with it and don’t do much else outside of it that I still enjoy but the reason why Fall Out Boy is in my top 5 bands is because they are constantly evolving and changing and you can hit shuffle on their entire discography and the sounds and the lyrics are so distinct to that era that you’d be able to identify which they were coming from even if you aren’t a deranged fan like me. If they played it safe and just kept making music like FUTCT I think they’d still be popular because that is a good album but I think interest would’ve burned out a lot
yeah i absolutely get this and feel the same way!! i think it's understandable and fair to maybe have a preference between post and pre-h! but the degree to which some people get argumentative and sometimes downright Mean about it is just. unnecessary! and dumb! them being so adaptable and constantly changing and so willing to experiment is genuinely one of the things that makes them such an interesting band that has lasted as long as they have lasted and are continuing to last. they have the heart and passion and Range, every era and album has something so incredible to offer i never see the point in acting as if pre-h fob is Undeniably better than post-h or vice versa like. one couldn't exist without the other. both make up fob and are integral to their identity as a band!!!! prefer some albums over others sure but don't act like each album isn't special and important and a Necessary piece of their discography!
-send me your unpopular fob opinions!-

I am so bored of queer infighting, man. This “I don’t understand it so it’s bad” mentality needs to stop. That’s the mindset queerphobes have when they try to excuse attacking us and taking our rights away.
Listen: I am about to confess a real character flaw here — I don’t fully understand xenogenders, or bi lesbians, or trans women who still call themselves gay men, or most things like that. I don’t really get it, mainly due to my upbringing, environment and a general lack of interaction with the community until recent years.
HOWEVER. None of these things are “new” or “just Twitter things.” They have existed long before most of you were even born. Queers with these labels were part of the community fighting and paving the way for our rights when your parents were still in primary school. They have always existed. They are not new or a fad.
Know what else commonly gets called “a new trend” and “a fad” and “an online thing”? Being trans. Do you really want to be spouting that kind of oppressive rhetoric towards your own community?
And, get this: NOT UNDERSTANDING SOMETHING DOES NOT MEAN IT IS BAD OR THAT IT IS OKAY FOR YOU TO BE A FUCKING DICK ABOUT IT. You can be not very educated on something and still be supportive of it. Most of my best allies are a little bit clueless but support me nonetheless because they’re decent people.
The queerphobes advocating for us to have less rights aren’t going to fuck you. Gatekeeping and exclusionism isn’t going to make them any less bigoted. All it does is cause unnecessary conflict within a community that needs to stand together more than ever, and while you’re all arguing over whether a trans man is still allowed to call himself a lesbian, they’re all laughing at us while they sign even more dangerous bills behind our backs.
Being queer has always been nuanced and weird and against following the rules. But besides that: people can do whatever the fuck they want. It does not affect you. And if you think it does, you’re a fool. And you’re not much better than those LGB without the T pricks.

Some behavior pondering about my aliens, Kooci!
I originally designed them with horns because they look cool, then remembered horns/horn-like structures (at least in modern mammals) only exist in prey animals, while Kooci are predators. So I had to come up with a reason why they would have them lol
[Image ID: Text accompanied by simple sketches. 1. Kooci fight to maintain and establish hierarchies, as well as to play. The accompanying drawing is a Kooci with a wide stance and its head lowered so it’s horns are facing forward. Kooci are large canine-like creatures with big bellies, broad shoulders, and long, broad necks. They have tall horns on their heads that curve back slightly. They have 4 black eyes, but the lower, larger pair have bright irises. 2. A respectable fight between adults is started by tapping their horns together. Over time this has evolved to be a general show of respect. The accompanying image only shows the heads and shoulders of 2 Kooci facing each other. Two arrows indicate they are bowing their heads to bring their horns towards each other. 3. When fighting they generally only use their horns and only swing them downwards. This is to mitigate risk, ensuring infighting doesn’t cause any unnecessary injuries or deaths. 4. Sometimes serious fights where the opponents actually want to hurt each other do break out. In these, they swing their horns upward to gouge and impale. At this point it’s also fair game to start using their teeth and claws. The next image accompanies both 3 and 4, and is of two Kooci fighting. The one on the right is bearing its teeth and rearing up on its hind legs with its horns angled forward towards the Kooci on the left. This one is rearing up and backwards like it’s trying to avoid the other’s horns. 5. Angling or pushing one’s horns towards another can mean a number of things depending on the vocalizations accompanying it. With the illustration to the left, the aggressor is growling, indicating they’re agitated and are essentially telling the other individual off. When combined with happy chugging or high-pitched barks this is an invitation or request to play fight. The accompanying image is of two Kooci, one is larger than the other and is angling their head and horns towards the other. The smaller one is ducking their head. End ID]

For the ask game: 🪤, 🚆 and 💧
Hi Schnecken!!! It's so nice to see you in my inbox!! 💜
🍞Emoji OC Asks
🪤 MOUSE TRAP - what will always lure them into certain danger? a loved one in danger? a promise of something they are always searching for
Oh gosh a few sweet words and a small degree of proof that someone is safe? She's the type of person who would be lured away from her parents with some chocolate or other candy. She's taught to be skeptical but doesn't have the actual experience to tell dangerous from safe when it comes to these situations. So just naive enough to manipulate easily if someone does it for work. That's literally why I've been thinking to change her meeting with Prosciutto. So he lies to her about being someone who could keep her "safe" from the rival gang while there is infighting going on, and she'd believe whatever disguise he has and ends up interrogated in La Squadra's base.
🚆 TRAIN - what is their answer to the trolley problem?
She would definitely pull the lever. Because she's associated with the mafia and their kills anyway it's not like she can feel too bad about some hypothetical deaths. But she's definitely for less casualties. Plus it's not like Focaccia likes unnecessary and meaningless kills. Technically neither answer are ethical to her but she's always been a neutral person and thinks pulling the lever would be lesser of two evils. Her reasoning could be countered with "why should this one person die for the other 5?" and she would say why should 5 people die for this one? She knows it's a paradox and her answer doesn't matter anyway when it depends on who the people are and what the situation truly is outside of hypothetical scenarios.
💧 DROPLET - random angst headcanon
I had to go searching for this! I had a bunch from years ago when Focaccia was being first conceptualized. This is what I wrote on 28th October , 2021
"I keep meaning to develop focaccias anxiety in some way in her canon but I couldn't come up with how it would manifest but I have some ideas now I think Focaccia would be really anxious over how she could help pros when he's burdened or at least she feels like he's burdened and she can't do anything about it what if she's not helping enough? What if she can't do anything at all?? The uselessness would really get to her and maybe she would bring it up to pros but also get anxious of asking him for reassurance too many times and becoming annoying but she's happy she could be be honest with him and he gives honest answers it helps with her anxiety a lot"
It's still true !

okay ik you’ve been disappointed in hotd’s depiction of aegon and you’re against the idea of him ‘going darker’ so to speak in s2- if i can play devil’s advocate, im actually super stoked for it (you’re welcome to delete and move on, it’s your blog and you didn’t ask for contradictory opinions! im encroaching here lol. you’re def not required to even read this at all)
obviously hotd has made aegon the ‘villain’ so to speak (there’s a hundred arguments to that and i agree with a lot of them but from the pov of a casual showfan, he’s a rapist and he likes to watch little kids fight 🤷‍♀️) i think the time skips in s1 did a lot of damage to building relationships beyond the primary rhaenicent/daemyra, and the greens kids suffered the most. we see glimpses of aegon/aemond’s relationship, but helaena never gets to speak to either of her brothers (l m a o) and alicent gets limited screentime with them as adults. daeron is, well, non existent. what we get of aegon’s role is that he seems to be the troublemaker/problem child- the way alicent reacts with dyana suggested (to me) that this isn’t a first time occurrence, and it’s more of her being at the end of her rope than experiencing the shock that her son is capable of this.
the show doesn’t do a great job of balancing the actual depiction of aegon we see on screen (he’s kind of a large adult failson) vs the one other characters tell us about. i understand the reasons why, but it creates this disjointed feeling of the sad/rejected boy vs this monster other people are trying to say he is. i think when we see the coronation, and he receives this uninterrupted love for the first time in his life, it’s gonna be a joffrey-esque situation at least in terms of this unstable manchild getting absolute power. it’s going to change his dynamics with his family for sure- ik you’ve talked about alicent/aegon and aegon/aemond roles, and tbh im excited to see him claim that power in those relationships. i think it’ll be a large shift from s1, because now he has the idea of acceptance and admiration from the public, and his own family has given him the crown! they’ve doomed themselves to his actions in a way
anyway this is long 😔 i get people dislike how he’s written in the show (totally understandable!!) but with what we’re given i must confess i can’t wait to see him go nutso, especially after blood & cheese. the idea of the greens infighting but still being a force to contend with in the war at whole is delicious to me lmao!!
Hello there!
I'm actually not opposed to him going darker, I just think there are more interesting ways of doing that, ways that don't involve further brutalizing two female characters that already have it pretty rough canonically. There's no need to add to that - it would kind of feel like what D&D did to Sansa by giving her Jeyne Poole's storyline with Ramsey, after escaping KL and Joffrey's abuse. Just unnecessary and cheap shock value. For whomever is interested, I went into further detail here, here and here.
I do agree with this. On screen he behaves in a certain way, off-screen we are told he is different.
i think when we see the coronation, and he receives this uninterrupted love for the first time in his life, it’s gonna be a joffrey-esque situation at least in terms of this unstable manchild getting absolute power. it’s going to change his dynamics with his family for sure- ik you’ve talked about alicent/aegon and aegon/aemond roles, and tbh im excited to see him claim that power in those relationships. i think it’ll be a large shift from s1, because now he has the idea of acceptance and admiration from the public, and his own family has given him the crown! they’ve doomed themselves to his actions in a way
My main gripe with this is that I don't want another Joffrey. What would be the point in that? :)) They shied away from turning Alicent into a Cersei-clone, why turn Aegon into a Joffrey-clone? They don't even have the same origin story - yes, both were ignored by their fathers, but Joffrey never craved his mother's affection, because he already had it; Cersei doted on him and was very indulgent. Joffrey never had the sword of Damocles hanging over his head because there was another claimant endangering his life. Also, Joffrey is not really shown to be particularly awful towards Myrcella either; she's more or less nonplussed by his existence.
Even when Cersei admonished him and he had his power trips, he never really did anything to her, it was just posturing. He didn't really have the balls to go against his mother, because deep down he knew she was always on his side and there wasn't anything to gain by that? As soon as things got tough, he was the first to cower behind her skirts. Furthermore, Joffrey's entire power comes from the Lannisters - how is he going to piss off Lannister Girl #1 and, by extension, Lannister Patriarch #1? It's very much a case of "fuck around and find out". When Tywin came back to KL, he made quick work of containing Joffrey and there was fuck-all "the king" could do about it. All of Joffrey's awfulness is extended outside his family, apart from Tyrion - although, we should note that he doesn't always have the guts to go against Tyrion all the time either and is even disciplined by his uncle a few times.
Similarly, it doesn't really make sense for the Hightowers to be such pushovers because Aegon decides to act like a prick. Aegon's entire powerbase comes from Oldtown. Yes, Aegon has an advantage over Joffrey because he has a dragon, but he can very much be locked in his room or not allowed entry to the Dragonpit if he acts like a little shit. And what would he even do with his dragon anyway - burn his family members? Come on. There should be Hightower guards sworn to Otto and Alicent swarming the place, just like Cersei had her personal army of Lannister soliders sent by Daddy. Anything else doesn't make sense. Erryk and Arryk have already manhandled Aegon, Aemond gave him a black eye, Criston would backhand him so fast if he were mean to Alicent?
I mean, I'm not in the writing room, and they ultimately can write whatever they want and bend themselves over backwards explaining it, but they've set Aegon up so far to be a different character, so why not act like it? And, if not, at least respect the internal logic of the fictional setting, because I don't see why Aegon should have unfettered access to power right now either. He has literally zero allies at court and no network of support apart from what his Hightower relatives have built for him.
anyway this is long 😔 i get people dislike how he’s written in the show (totally understandable!!) but with what we’re given i must confess i can’t wait to see him go nutso, especially after blood & cheese. the idea of the greens infighting but still being a force to contend with in the war at whole is delicious to me lmao!!
No worries, I don't even disagree with you on principle - I'd like to see ~the darkness, but there are more novel ways to go about it rather than abusing his family members (if that's the way they even intend to go! bc all of this is speculation anyway LOL). I don't mind him scuffling it out with Aemond, but I would hate to see the greens' love and loyalty for one another erased for some gratuitous cliche villain plotline.
Not to mention that the other side is most likely going to be Sainted Rhaenyra as the most wonderful mother to Hero Jace, who loves & respects & would die for her + everyone mourning Rhaenys as a war hero, loving (grand)mother, dutiful wife and queen-who-never-was, everyone vowing to avenge her. Meanwhile Alicent is going to be painted again like the most failed mother in the world, daily regretting her decision to crown her son and weeping after Rhaenyra, the most capable queen that ever was robbed.
And I just don't think that would be a v good story. 😫

Laurel?
Laurel: If you could write the books, what changes would you make?
make the erins write a series bible
major overhauls would include getting rid of the tribe and their connections to the clans, some name changes, and just making some of the shitty things in the books more intentional to the worldbuilding
as more specific arc changes... (i ended up rambling more than i thought i would)
dawn of the clans i think would be the most changed since i already have a mini rewrite in my head for it lol change gray and clear sky's initial group to a cluster of city cats living in a rundown and somewhat abandoned area of town. Give Lion's Roar, Dove's Wing, and Jay's Wing bigger roles because why would you not do that in the first place. Have One-Eye and his gang be the initial threat that brings the group together and then have Clear Sky's desire for borders begin to tear them apart with the big gathering battle being the sixth book instead of the third. Also less fridging because holy shit this arc sucks
the prophecies begin would remain mostly the same howeveeeerrr make redtail firepaw's mentor OR give him more screentime before his death ooorr change him to someone who gets screentime in tpb or bluestar's prophecy, change tigerclaw to be snowfur's son, and change tigerclan to the final boss with bloodclan as the allies
the new prophecy would also stay the same, just have the cats actually bond during the journey and don't kill off feathertail. i'd make hawkleaf a thing instead of crowleaf for the sake of drama, have graystripe be written as a pretty shit deputy to add to brambleclaw's desire, and have brambleclaw not be named deputy after nearly going through with the assassination of his leader. maybe sandstorm or brightheart is named instead as graystripe is forced to resign? literally anyone else
po3 gets some minimal quality of life changes in the first half with the three's (twos?) powers actually have an impact on their quality of life and having negative consequences physically, socially, and mentally. Jaypaw would choose to become a warrior after the horrible experience that was his first battle, Lionblaze would also gain a nasty reputation after his numerous brutal experiences, and Holly would just have more emphasis on her ambitions to become leader. I think the most i'd like is some deputy drama at the end, where Sandstorm/whoever is named deputy wants to step down so Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and a handful of other candidates try to show off who's best for the job. When Ashfur winds up dead, Lionblaze becomes suspect number one and Holly has to decide whether or not to help her brother or save her own skin.
oots would get a radical overhaul with the battle happening in book three and kicking off a full on war, i see the dark forest troops conquering thunderclan and riverclan and the remaining survivors have to work together. Firestar gets killed in book three and, in the final battle, has his spirit killed as well taking out Tigerstar. It would end on the Clans fully unified.
avos would act as the first physical challenge to unity with darktail coming in and, disillusioned with the amount of infighting, i can see the younger cats joining a group that in appearance looks more unified than the clans. of course this comes crashing down and shit hits the fan. i have not read avos in a bit so uh that's the premise lol
tbc could act as the spiritual challenge to the unified clans where the existence of starclan and the dark forest could be challenged, also make spotfur the thunderclan protagonist instead and have bristlefrost being a double spy be a secret from her and the reader. Scrap everything stupid the books say about Shadowsight, give Rootspring's powers to Needleclaw instead and have her take on his role, and so on.
aannnd there's not enough to go on with asc but uh get rid of nightheart, tear him asunder the thunderclan perspective is unnecessary here anyways

Valkyria Chronicles 4
I absolutely loved the original Valkyria Chronicles, as it was a game unlike any other.  But, I never played any of the sequels, for two main reasons:
They switched from the PS3 to PSP.  I didn’t have one, and it royally pisses me off when series change platforms like that.  The PSP also doesn’t have the power to make it work properly.
The first game did not leave room for a sequel.
And this is something that really annoys me.  I loathe forced sequels.  They could take the core game elements and make a new story to encompass it.
So, finally playing a sequel, and... it’s a forced sequel.
The original game’s world had the continent of Europa.  There is the Empire to the East, the Federation to the West, and trapped between them, the tiny country of Gallia.  You play as platoon, (”Squad”), of Gallian soldiers who single-handedly stop the Empire in it’s tracks.
But, over the course of the story, it becomes clear that the Federation is mired with corruption and infighting, to the point it’s difficult for you to maintain your independence.
Between 1 and 4, Gallia joined the Federation, which had all of it’s negative aspects retconned away.  Gallia lost it’s independence while the Empire was not stopped by the actions of the original.  Nothing says a sequel that eliminates everything the original accomplished.
Now, for the characters.  The first four you are introduced to are:
Clear failed attempt to recreate the power of the original main character, Welkin Gunther.  Welkin was a delicate balance between skill in combat, honour, intelligence, and compassion.  The new protagonist is a clear attempt to do the exact same thing, but changing just enough to not make him seem like a direct copy.  He simply comes off as a cheap knockoff.
Badass soldier who instantly turns into a snivelling coward who has to be saved by the girlboss sniper.
Girlboss sniper who is better than the badass at everything.
Girlboss lieutenant who is the same rank as you, but orders you around because obviously you have to listen to girlbosses.  She gives you a bunch of exposition, rather than your actually commanding officer who stands next to her without saying anything.  The game then has a narrator give you a much better version of the exact same exposition, making the girlboss entirely unnecessary.
The gameplay seems largely identical to the main one, (if a bit simplified), which had better characters and story.   The only real part of the original I didn’t like was the lesson that one of the girls being an OP Valkyria was a bad thing that we should try to ignore.
The game deals with heavy concepts like racism, allegiance, and whether the ends justify the means.  There is massive historical revisionism you have to peel back as people come to terms with how poorly they have treated others.
The game has a strong case of story and gameplay segregation, to the point what is said is completely contradicted by the actual events.  The only thing the game seems to change is giving you accessories, and they do this by giving you a medal for beating a couple soldiers in the tutorial.
Alright, tried to press on, and we had a woman start talking about how the girlboss lieutenant is the best thing in the world in a completely forced matter.
I so, so, so wish they had gone the Dark Souls route and created a new world to make stories in using the same engine, rather than just making a cheap knockoff of the original.  Just as a feared, the transfer to PSP simplified the game engine without making anything else better.
This just makes me want to play the original again.

The number of times someone says "no one should have to see their cavalier die" in this book is rude and unnecessary and also hurts my feelings.

My #1 post of 2022
I like to think jod thought the lyctor trials he set up at Canaan house were so clever and well put together. Like he thought he'd created this perfect riddle that all the adepts would peacefully work together to solve like the original lyctors did when actually it was a hot mess with no clear direction headed by a crazy bag of spirits pretending to be a person that was doomed to spiral into confused infighting even without a rogue lyctor stirring the pot.
Like, at first I thought it was just a poorly constructed part of the plot but actually it fits in perfectly when you remember jod is an idiot.
