AoT Characters as Horses
DON’T TEASE ME FOR THIS, I’VE GOT A WILD IMAGINATION
also just a few characters, I’ll take the warriors, because my time is limited at the moment (and my energy)
Warnings: It’s all fluff. But don’t you dare have any dirty thoughts about this, you lunatics.
Porco Galliard
- Porco is a Standardbred and way too proud of that
- He loves when he can show off his two extra paces, the Trot and... the Pace
- He is very sportive and loves to go on long hikes or train in the hall for competitions
- But when he gets older, he also gets a little bit calmer, not expecting as much from himself as before
- Porco was originally planned to be a jumping horse, his owner being a participant in the Longines Global Champions Tour, but because he wasn’t the easiest partner although he had talent, he was sorted out and sold to a young woman. She owns a smaller stable, so he doesn’t have all the flair of a champion, but he lives a good life there.
- He hates it, but his owner does train him in natural horsemanship, which requires a lot of attention from him. And he isn’t exactly a horse that has a good amount of patience.
- Porco needs an addition of Selenium in his food because he is pretty low on that.
- He’s had some problems with his tendons, especially the ones in his front right leg
- Porco loves to get groomed, then he feels like a special boyyy
Pieck Finger
- She’s a Gypsy Vanner Horse, with all it’s beautiful features, the long hair, the big spots...
- Pieck has a relatively dark coat for some reason
- Her hair is often braided because it is very delicate and long, the same goes for her tail
- She doesn’t eat hay like a normal horse, she throws it around first to get the lowest layer, then she’ll slowly eat her way up
- That girl looooves strawberries, she doesn’t need lipstick, she chews on them for a minute and it’s red all over the place
- Pieck is sometimes used for the kids, they can groom her, braid her hair, and they can take her out for a walk
- She has very soft lips (I mean the mouth, you perverts), wayyy too soft for a horse, but that’s why children love her
- Pieck pulls the coach most of the time and she especially loves to do it for a wedding, she is made extra beautiful on these occations
- Even though she is relatively tall, she is so damn quiet, especially on the meadows, you won’t hear her approach you from behind
- She is a specialist in Natural Horsemanship and can do a lot of tricks like standing on her hind legs or jumping on command, bow down or do a pirouette
Annie Leonhardt
- A pure bred Lipizzaner mare, but this girl doesn’t give a shit about her origins
- She’s well trained in all sorts of arts, she’s a professional when it comes to dressage, but she can also jump and run very good. Only problem she has is her attitude.
- She’s reserved, doesn’t interact much with other horses, but her owners and other humans are the devils to her, she only lets certain people touch her.
- Annie doesn’t care about food that much, what she can eat, she eats
- She once had the audacity to walk straight into her owners house and steal some carrots. She isn’t afraid of anything, not even stairs.
- She’s too intelligent for da people, like, seriously, that girl knows how to open doors, how to destroy a saddle, how to get her head out of the halter or bridle and she can open the door of her box. So whenever she gets hungry for an extra extra extra food, she just waits until it’s dark, opens her box, goes to the food chamber and feasts on the good hay cobs or the pellets (somehow she doesn’t get fat though...)
- If she likes someone, she won’t obey to them every day and all the time, but she is very good to work with if she trusts you. She just has these days. Mares, you know. (quote by Reiner)
- Annie is incredibly soft with children, although she teaches them manners if they are too rough with her, pull on her hair or something else that is annoying to her
Bertolt Hoover
- He’s a Clydesdale with an unusual height, even for a large breed as this
- He’s that type of horse, who tries to roll over in the box and gets stuck in the corner
- Belly rubs are the beeeeest
- He’s strong, but knows his height and weight, so he’s careful where he steps and what he touches
- Although his owner loves him for his kind nature, he can be pretty nasty, when he wants to be. For example he hates it when people leave a broom or something similar in front of his box, so he just grabs it with his teeth and throws it through the hallway.
- He chews on the rope on his halter when he has to wait a longer time (he’s huge, it takes a bit to groom him...). And because he does it when nobody watches, he needs a new rope every once in a while.
- Oh, and he likes watermelon. And salad.
- Bert is used to pull coaches, but he doesn’t like the harness, so his owners only take him out with the coach on sundays
- He runs away when he sees children, mostly because when he was younger and on the meadow with his mother, they threw stones at him and the mare, so he is afraid they’ll do it again
- Bertolt has a strict routine for every day of the week and if that is interrupted by something unexpected, he gets frustrated and even a little anxious
Reiner Braun
- Trakehner, sportive, large and loves to do stupid things
- When he’s in the hall and it’s cold outside, he loves to play ‘dragon’, which is done by breathing out heavily through his nostrils and creating a huge cloud. You can just put him in the hall and let him stay there for hours, he’ll do nothing else.
- Until his last day on this earth, that boy doesn’t know how to play with one of those big balls for horses. He stands there, looking at it, maybe walking around it, sniffing the thing, then he kicks it and runs to the other end of the hall.
- Well, he loves kids, they like to see him in action, but the adults don’t allow them to sit on his back because he tends to be a little... rough when he’s excited. That boy doesn’t know how tall he is, unlike Bertolt.
- Reiner suffers from cushing syndrome, which is why he needs to eat a small pink pill every morning. Because of this condition he can’t be used in sports anymore, and he grows an unnaturally thick coat in the winters.
- He thinks donkeys are the most hilarious thing on earth. Good thing they are his neighbors, so he can watch them all day long and have a good laugh.
- Because of his strength and stubbornness, especially at the beginning of a relationship with a new human, they use a curb bit for him, which allows the rider to have more control over him if he decides to do his own thing again. And surprisingly he is more comfortable with this one than with a regular bit.
- But once you have reached a certain level of bondage with him, he’s the sweetest thing you could imagine, especially when jumping, he is extra careful.
- Unfortunately though, a little boy gave him a sugar cube once. Now he can’t get enough of that and it’s ruining his teeth.
- If he makes a mistake, he gets super anxious for a good amount of time and tries to do it perfect afterwards

the devil you know
Сharacters: Hange Zoe, Levi, Moblit Berner, Zeke Yeagar, Armin Arlert
Genres: Action / Drama
Summary: Can you still miss a person, if everything you knew about them was a lie?
Сhapter 3/?
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
"Falco, c'mon!" Gabi tugged at his arm, so roughly and forcefully Falco’s sleeve got almost ripped off.
"It's dangerous," he repeated for the tenth time, refusing to give in. "And this thing—" he pointed at the large stone Gabi concealed inside a deep brown cloth. "It could kill someone, Gabi."
"It should kill someone," she rolled her eyes. "They're all devils out here. If we kill them, they'll thank us, when we get home. Maybe, even throw a parade! Falco!" she punched his arm, grinning. "We have to do this, don't you understand? We have to get out, save Mister Zeke and Professor Hange—"
"Are you sure?" Falco suddenly interrupted. "Are you sure that... Professor Hange wants to be saved?"
Gabi frowned, staring at him quizzically. "What do you mean, Falco? Of course, she wants to be saved! She lived years with those demons and now they dragged her back into their hell. You've heard Reiner talk about all of them, can you imagine how hard it was for her? How much she is suffering now?"
He heard Reiner talking about his life in Paradise, and then he heard Reiner talk with that man... Eren Yeager.
And he saw, he watched Professor Hange Zoe.
Her father was a hero, an honorary Marleyan who lived and died for his country. His child was very much the same, possessed the same intelligence, loyalty and fierceness, if Colt's stories were true.
But Colt also said that in many aspects Professor Hange was different from her father. And, from what Falco could see, his brother was right.
Professor Hange was curious, enthusiastic and incredibly kind, especially to the young candidates. She had never called them names, never looked down on them. On the contrary, she was always ready to cheer them up with a smile, a joke or a bag of candies she claimed to carry with her all the time specifically for them.
On a battlefield, she was fierce and fearless, a perfect leader. Around her comrades, she was witty and cheerful, a bright beam of positivity in the middle of the dark, cruel world.
But when no one was around, when she thought no one was looking, the light in her eyes faded and smile slipped from her lips. The exhaustion and guilt slipped through the cracks in her façade. Worst of all, she looked so sad. Maybe, Reiner wasn't the only who felt like this, wasn’t the only soldier, who was broken by this war and their country.
Maybe, Eldians weren't the only ones who could be called devils.
Maybe, Gabi - and all of them, obedient soldiers of Marleyan Empire, ready to sacrifice their lives just for a chance of receiving respect - were actually wrong.
"Alright, let's do it," Falco sighed, surrendering to his fate. With or without him, Gabi would do what she had planned to. It’d be best for both of them, if he followed. "But at least promise me to—" he swallowed, afraid to even think of it. He had seen enough deaths in his lifetime - in battle, at home - but to take a life himself… he was still reluctant to do so. "At least, promise me to try and spare that guard, alright?"
"You're too soft," Gabi chided, but, nevertheless, she nodded and even ruffled his hair, making Falco blush in embarrassment. "Thanks for sticking with me, Falco. I promise to get us out of this."
***
This part - the part with luring out a guard to their cell and then knocking him off - was surprisingly easy.
Those devils are too dumb, Gabi claimed gleefully.
Or, maybe, too kind, Falco argued softly.
Hand in hand, desperately holding onto each other and trying not to show their fear, they made their way through the dungeon.
"Do you even know where they keep Mister Zeke and Professor Hange?" Falco asked, extra careful to make his voice even quieter than usual.
"Only one way to find out," Gabi grinned and then stomped her leg on a stone floor, loudly.
The sound reverberated from the stone walls, making Falco shudder.
"Gabi!" he grabbed the sleeve of her dress, wide-eyed and absolutely terrified. It seemed like he could almost hear the guards marching to them, rifles in their hands.
To his immense horror, Gabi repeated her action again and again, holding a finger to her mouth.
"Yes," she said finally. "I think we're on the lowest level of dungeons. So, naturally, we need to go up, if we want to find them, and," she paused, squeezing Falco's hand almost painfully. He watched her, a little perplexed and worried over the passionate fire in her eyes. He knew that expression too well, it usually led to some kind of disaster - explosions, high-risk missions and them jumping on an enemy plane to try and kill as many soldiers as possible only to end up tied up and thrown into prison. Gabi's endeavors always led to disasters and rarely had good outcomes. "Then we save them. We'll save Mister Zeke and Professor Hange, Falco!" Gabi jumped up and down, still holding onto him. "We'll save the smartest, most important soldiers. They'll call us heroes!"
"Only if we manage to escape safely," he reminded, shushing her. "And that won't happen if you continue making a ruckus!"
"Alright, alright," Gabi conceded, lowering her voice. "Let's start moving."
Falco nodded and together, they slowly continued walking through the dungeons. The floor they've been put on didn't hold other prisoners, and it seemed like no guard, except the one they’ve knocked out (and possibly killed, Falco thought, shuddering once again), was stationed there.
Still, there was no such thing as too much caution, or so General Magath always told them.
"Professor Hange really is amazing, don't you think?" Gabi asked, thankfully, keeping her voice down this time. "To live among these devils for so long all by herself, without a friend or a comrade... I wouldn't be able to take it. Have you seen them? That Captain of theirs, he's so short, but so scary. I actually thought he'd throw us out of that ship."
Falco thought so too. Captain Levi was indeed a very scary-looking man, although it seemed like Mister Zeke's accounts of him were slightly exaggerated. He didn't look like a monster at all. And, perhaps, Falco simply didn't see him in battle, but up on a ship he looked... sad. His eyes, they seemed to hold pain deep inside them.
They actually looked a lot like the eyes of Professor Hange.
Perhaps, the source for the pain inside their eyes was all the same.
Before going to that plane and seeing Captain Levi in person, Falco thought that Professor Hange was a lot like Reiner. And they still seemed to be alike, still carried guilt with them and sometimes looked lost and confused, but Professor Hange's eyes... and Captain Levi's too... There was a look of heartbreak inside.
The way they seemed to avoid looking at each other, but still their eyes inevitably darted to one another made Falco wonder just what happened to Professor Hange during those five years she had spent on the island.
Reiner lost Marcel, lost Annie and then Berthold as well.
But who did Professor Hange lose that made her seem so sad when she finally had come home?
"Do you think they allowed her to keep the candies?"
Gabi's dreamy voice pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Falco narrowed his eyes at her, feeling even more confused by Gabi’s behavior than usual.
"Candies," she rolled her eyes, making an emphasis on the word. "You know, like the ones Hange-san always brought us?"
Ah. Of course, he knew about those candies. Hange-san frequently visited young candidates at training facility. As one of the main strategist and engineers she had more than enough right to. She said that watching them train helped her think, made her understand how to create and adjust the new weapons, so they were more suitable and comfortable for the simple soldiers.
Whenever she came, usually with the Warriors in tow, it was almost like holiday. Professor Hange brought laughter and positivity with her, generous enough to share her energy with all of them. She ruffled the hair on their heads and pinched their cheeks, telling them how good they were and how proud they made her feel.
She showered them with praises and gave advises on how to become even better than they already were.
And she brought candies - so many candies. Different ones too, not the plain-tasting, awful candies from the Interment Zone. No, candies from Hange were special, allowed only for Marleyans, and she shared them willingly and happily.
She usually brought a whole sack of them - chocolate, marmalade, caramel, candy canes, corns, chewing gum, fruit drops, jelly candy.... Professor Hange memorized everyone's favorite type of sweets and she always made sure that everyone got their share.
Their commanders didn't approve, obviously. Zeke didn't approve too, saying she spoiled them too much. Porco didn't like her attitude as well, claiming that Hange was turning them too soft. Reiner usually didn't pay much attention to it, and Pieck picked a candy or two of the bunch and chewed on them with a radiant smile.
So, of course, Falco knew about the candies. How could he not? They were inextricably linked with one of the best memories he had.
That's why - against all of his doubts - he was eager to save Professor Hange too. Not to become a hero, like Gabi claimed they would, but simply to repay for all the kindness she had bestowed upon them.
"Of course, I know about candies," he muttered. "You weren't the only one Hange-san shared them with."
"Huh," Gabi raised her chin, that self-contained smirk blooming on her lips. "I thought she only gave them to me. I was her favorite one, after all."
"You weren't even close to being her favorite," Falco rolled his eyes, playfully punching her arm.
He wasn't her favorite too. Hange-san didn't have favorites, or so she said. She said that all of them were equally bright and exceptional, destined for great things in the future. When Professor Hange said it like that - with her eyes burning and staring right at him, Falco could almost believe in himself. He could almost believe he could do whatever he put his mind to.
Professor Hange didn't have favorites, but if she had, it definitely would have been Udo. The smart, fierce Udo, Hange simply adored him. When asked, she told that he reminded her of an old friend. She never went into any details, but her smile seemed to be just a little bit gentler at the mention of that mysterious friend. And her eyes – they became just a little bit sadder.
After that question, she was quick to change the subject, turning all of the attention back to Udo.
"Just look at those cheeks," she always cooed, pinching them between her fingers. "So puffy and cute!"
Under her touch, Udo's cheeks always turned red as a tomato. However, as fierce as he could sometimes be, he never - ever - attempted to get away from her. He didn’t even complain or mumble that she was embarrassing him.
Professor Hange was just that kind of a person. It was almost impossible not to like her.
"I think I hear some voices," Gabi whispered into his ear.
Falco nodded, squeezing her hand just a little tighter. "Be quiet," he warned.
Gabi narrowed her eyes at him accusingly, but didn't retort, keeping quiet just as Falco advised.
The stairs were right before them and they started to slowly climb up, stopping at each step to make sure they remained undetected.
The voices grew louder, and soon one of them became distinguishable.
It was Professor Hange's voice. They both realized it at the same moment.
Gabi beamed, but Falco frowned.
Something was wrong.
The tone of her voice... It wasn't angry or scared or defying.
It was kind, gentle. Caring.
It was the same voice Hange always used with them.
"Gabi!" he meant to grab her and take her away, before she discovered the truth.
But Gabi was too fast, Gabi was too excited— she skipped to the edge of the stairs and reached a large wooden door. Glancing back at Falco, she winked and swiftly squeezed through the door.
Falco hurried after her. He couldn't let Gabi see what he just had discovered. If she did... it wouldn't be pretty.
He walked through the door, entering the narrow dark hallway. There seemed to be no guards here, but Gabi still tensed, slowing her step and allowing Falco to catch up with her.
The closest cell to the door was empty, second one - too. It was the third cell that voices were coming from.
Professor Hange wasn't the only one talking, from what Falco could hear, there were approximately three other people with her as well.
"Gabi," Falco murmured, grasping her hand. "Gabi, maybe, we should go back—"
He wasn't fast enough. Gabi took another step and from there she could clearly see the inside of the cell.
Just as Falco had thought, Hange-san wasn't alone. On one side of the table two men sat - one small with short light hair and one tall and long-faced. On the other side was Professor Hange herself and beside her— a girl, brown-haired and lean.
The same girl Gabi had failed to kill.
Professor Hange was smiling - all of them were, but they were talking in low voices, too quiet to decipher the words. The conversation wasn't a tense one, though, it was obvious. It became even more apparent when Professor Hange raised her hand and ruffled the girl's hair, smiling gently all the while.
That gesture— Falco had seen her do it so many times before. She used to raffle his hair, Gabi’s, Zophia’s and Udo’s.
But it seemed like they weren’t the only ones, who were lucky enough to receive affection from her.
It seemed that, maybe, Professor Hange wasn’t as loyal to Marley as she had always claimed to be.
Gabi gasped, and Falco moved, clasping a hand over her mouth and dragging her a few steps back.
She didn't protest, staring at the scene in front her with shocked, glassy eyes.
"Devils," she mumbled against Falco's hand.
"Let's get out of here," he whispered and led Gabi back to where they came from.
It took them hours of crawling around to finally find the unguarded exit. Gabi was suspiciously quiet the whole time, and the eerie silence made Falco even more nervous.
He didn't dare to start a conversation, though, knowing that one wrong word, one wrong move and Gabi would tip over the edge.
And she did, the moment they were out of the prison and away from its grounds.
"How could she!" she roared, kicking the nearest tree. "How could she betray us like this? And for who? Those devils?" she turned to him then, eyes wild. "See, that's why you should never trust them! They tricked her, they fooled her, I'm sure! We can't trust Hange-san too. And Zeke - he might be with them as well. Falco," she took a shuddering breath and then looked up at the towering forest in front of them. "From now on, we can't trust anyone, but ourselves."

FULL  NAME: Pieck Finger MEANING.  though i coudn’t find too much, a few things i managed to find was ‘pieck’ is of polish origin, though i couldn’t find much of a solid definition. Finger - of german origin.  meing one with a peculiar or unusual finger; one who came from a place using this word in some transferred sense. NICKNAME(S):  Cartman, cart. piku.  GENDER:  cis-female,    she/her &/or they.  ETHNICITY:  Liberian Eldian.  HEIGHT:   155cm, 5′1. AGE:  25  (  DOB: August 5th  ) ZODIAC:  Leo SPOKEN  LANGUAGES:  English (marleyean dialect)
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
HAIR  COLOUR:  black EYE  COLOUR: grey to silver with blue relfects in the correct lighting/when paired against an oceanic background.  SKIN  TONE:  light skin colour, burns easily but also has the capacity to tan afterwards.  BODY  TYPE:  small, petite. light definition of a muscular tone however it can disappear after month being in titan form.  VOICE:  soft. sounds like what velvet would be if it was an audible substance. her voice sits high in her throat, the tone not quite high but not low, either. it’s a pleasant middle ground. however, she has the capability for it be velvet dragged across gravel. something grating about it when pieck is called into action. pieck can drop her voice by octaves when needed to (this is evident when she interrogates eren). not to mention the mixed near demonic sound of her voice when she speaks through the cart titan.  DOMINANT  HAND.  ambidextrous.  POSTURE:  horrible. in her youth, it was impeccable - shoulders always set straight and her spine followed it’s natural curve to a perfect T. but as age & exhaustion riddle her body from the exasperation & wear the cart titan has on her body, pieck is rarely seen with proper posture. her shoulders slump, head carries forward and her vertebrae have slightly compacted, making her shorter than she used to be, too.  SCARS:  this has become negated since inheriting her titan. few minor scars remain along her hands mostly from cooking meals for herself (and bertholdt on occasion) during her youth. however most of those have faded.  TATTOOS:  none MOST  NOTICEABLE  FEATURE(S): eyes. despite her always sleepy look - even before the toll of the cart titan consumed her body, pieck’s eyes always had this tiredness to them. slightly sunken & half lidded. they glisten silver in the night & are often rather expressive whatever emotion she’s portraying on her face.
CHILDHOOD:
PLACE  OF  BIRTH:  Liberio, Marley.  HOMETOWN:  Liberio, Marley.  MANNER  OF  BIRTH:  natural & uncomplicated.  FIRST  WORDS:  dad. SIBLINGS:  none.  PARENTS:  Jakub Finger Father (alive),  Ariel Finger Mother (deceased)  PARENT  INVOLVEMENT: despite having no real memories of her mother, pieck still to this day finds little things around her family home that brings her comfort. not to mention the stories pieck forced her father to tell her about her mother while she was growing up. pieck has her mother’s clothes in her cupboard, though she seldom ever wears them. along with some hair clips, a tea set & some photos however, there is little else to remember her by. just that her father loved her mother more than what pieck would ever understand. pieck’s father, however, is the single most important person in her life. he is the reason pieck ever decided to enter the program in the first place. she cherishes every moment she gets when she returns home to liberio to visit him, spending as much time as possible with him (whether that’s in or out of hospital). pieck always comes down with bouts of anxiety whenever she is tasked with long missions away, afraid that she would come back to the news of her father’s passing.  while she was growing up, jakub would read encyclopedias to her since they were too poor to afford actual bedtime stories. he’d make up his own stories about the contents of those books. she vouches that to her incredible intelligence.
ADULT LIFE:
OCCUPATION: warrior/titan shifter. CURRENT RESIDENCE:  liberio.  CLOSE  FRIENDS:  marcel and porco galliard, bertholdt huber, annie leonheart, reiner braun & zeke jeager. though after the events of the series, mostly anyone who survives.  RELATIONSHIP  STATUS:  single FINANCIAL  STATUS: very unfortunate. has had to beg for money in her youth to pay off her dad’s medical bills. even now as a warrior, things are still incredibly tight for pieck when her dad needs to be admitted.  DRIVER’S  LICENSE:  none, but she is the cart titan so she is a car i suppose. CRIMINAL  RECORD: none withstanding.  VICES:  blocking out/ignoring her own emotions. smoking.
SEX / ROMANCE:
SEXUAL  ORIENTATION:  bisexual  ROMANTIC  ORIENTATION:  demiromantic.  PREFERRED  EMOTIONAL  ROLE:  pieck excels at being an empath & emotional rock for those she loves. while she is incredibly independent and doesn’t need anyone, she does love being there for others.  PREFERRED  SEXUAL  ROLE:  switch, prefers to usually let other’s take control though she is no stranger to dominance herself.  LOVE  LANGUAGE:  touch & quality time.  LIBIDO:  high, though is suppressed during missions. RELATIONSHIP  TENDENCIES:  while pieck has the capacity to be a hopeless romantic if given the correct setting - she is rarely that. pieck is all about small touches, soft tender moments. small things such as reading together, letting her rest on her significant other’s chest while she is exhausted. due to her independence however, she can occasionally come across as stubborn - thinking she can do anything and everything on her own.
MISC:
THEME  SONG:  "violent” - carolesdaughter HOBBIES  TO  PASS  TIME: knitting, reading, she has tried painting on occasion but has never found an immense sense of joy over it.  MENTAL  ILLNESSES:  anxiety (induced during long missions in the cart). dissociation tendencies  - mostly during her youth but has followed her into her mature age self.  PHYSICAL  ILLNESSES.  permanent exhaustion resulting in physical stress to her body. though the titan regeneration typically heals all wounds, it has yet to heal her body after the toll the cart titan takes. it has even resulted in her forgetting how to work on several occasions.  LEFT  OR  RIGHT  BRAINED:  left-brained PHOBIAS:  failure, fear of losing her father  SELF  CONFIDENCE  LEVEL: medium to high - she knows she is intelligent & good at what she does, however still (behind closed doors) doubts herself from time to time.

Overall the fandom enjoyed the episode, with the vast majority of votes being at either a 4 or 5.
Best ep of the season thus far, Bert's monologue/transformation was amazing. Some fantastic VA work by Tomohisa and Inoue as well. CG CT also looked far better than I thought he would. These next few episodes are going to kill me. I can't wait.
Fantastic episode. Bertholdt's monologue was the best part.
Great episode, very dramatic, awesome OST. I am not looking forward to the next few eps, except for Floch's villain origin story!
Can’t wait for the next episode, this one was so good!
Editing was a bit choppy, voice lines cut half a second too quick a few times.
First ep of S3P2 to get a 10/10 from me <3
The animation was pretty lacking in this episode. R&B’s running animation on the wall felt pretty lazy, there was that reused shot of the beast Titan’s throw from season 2, Bertholdt’s character design felt inconsistent as well as Zeke’s. They really need to get the old team back on the animation cause the current team clearly doesn’t know how to handle aot. It’s getting on my nerves.
The episode was absolutely awesome.
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT? 308 Responses
Tumblr media
The Bertl Bomb™ was the scene that respondents were most excited about. Following behind that was Mikasa’s brief skirmish with Bertolt, and closely behind that was Armin and Bertolt’s shouting match on the rooftops.
BERUTORUTO=GOD
I’m mikasasexual
As a huge Bertholdt fan, it was so great to see Bert as the centre of attention for once. It makes me really sad knowing what comes next.
Bert bomb made my bomb go off
I love Bertholdt's resolve. This scene made him one of my favorite characters.
Bertholdt vs. Mikasa was so fire 🔥
One of the best episodes without a doubt. Bertholdt's monologue before transforming was even more impactful than in the manga.
Explosion aftermath was disappointing. I expected a sea of fire. The one they gave us doesn't feel like something big just happened
That "Levi's 5 seconds of screen time" was good, too!
Why isn't "Mikasa comforting and protecting Armin" an option for favorite moment in this episode? Because those were definitely my favorite moments in the episode
The partner gesture between Reiner and Bertl is the death of me
Am I the only one who get's goosebumps  in the scene before he transformed himself into the colossalus titan and said: 'I feel like, no matter how this all plays out, I can accept whatever happens. That's right, nobody's in the wrong. There's nothing we could do. Because this world....is just...that cruel.' This scene was impressive back in the manga and I'm proud how good Tomohisa Hashizume nailed it. He's an amazing voice actor, especially for Bertholdt.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE APETITAN AND YOUSEEBIGGIRL REARRANGES? 296 Responses
Tumblr media
Overall the fandom was excited about the new versions of familiar songs with 71% of respondents feeling that they were “totally epic!” 18% agree that the rearranges were good, but that they can’t surpass the original versions.
The soundtrack was lit.
Music was awesome!
Ngl I've watched the episode many times bc the OST during some scenes is just SO GOOD!!
WHO WON THE SHOUTING MATCH? 308 Responses
Tumblr media
Over ¾ of the fandom agree that Bertolt dominated the shouting match on the rooftop.
I feel Armin won the "debate" because Bertolt, in his zeal to convince himself that he wanted to kill people he used to see as friends, wasn't making any sense
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT BERTOLT’S DEVELOPMENT AT THIS POINT? 308 Responses

46% of respondents were happy to see how far Bertolt had come as a character at this point in the story, while 34% were just happy to get more dialogue and thoughts from him. A small percentage had been curious where his character would go from here.
Godtolt on the way
He ditched the alter ego built up out of guilt, and it's cool to see him truly one of the strongest characters fighting off Mikasa while in human form
I wish we had more Bertl development! He could’ve been really complex, but just isn’t due to a lack of screentime. Compared to someone like Reiner or Annie, this was his one moment of pure raw character development
He reveals his true warrior colors
I loved it, one of my favourite chapters because of his resolve and how he himself was surprised about it.
He's only moving forward as a character and does what needs to be done. Bertholdt, your doing amazing sweetie!
With all this development just to kill him off was heart breaking.
Honestly, I’m so proud of him. He was amazing and it’s so nice to see a confident Bert. I don’t think it’s a development worth praising in terms of moral standards but it suited and made sense for his character
I feel like this is where his character peaked. It was pretty flat before season 2
I just don’t like bertolt in generalI really like his development but it's a shame that he severely lacked screen time before this episode
I'm not really a fan of Bertolt so I'm neutral on this
I still hate his traitorous guts and can't wait for THAT scene to be animated
Fucking loved it. It's one of my favorite chapters (and now episodes) just because he's talking so much and he's badass af. My boy is finally shining!
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT ARMIN BLUFFING ABOUT ANNIE A SECOND TIME? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
Just over half of respondents feel that Armin should have tried a different tactic with Bertolt, while 46% felt that it was worth another shot to try and manipulate Bertolt’s feelings for Annie again.
Has Armin ever convinced anyone of anything they didn't already believe?
He was so used to Bertholdt’s behavior and there was nothing that would’ve made Armin think Bertholdt would have the reaction that he did
Lame. He didn't use much of intelligence here.
It's low, I'm happy it didn't work again
He learned some pretty vital things - how far the Warriors are willing to go, what their priorities are, what Bert's state of mind is, and where his loyalties truly lie. I don't imagine Armin went down that track solely because he thought it would have the exact same effect, but rather to 'check something' - exactly the same as Bertolt.
I think it not only was a good attempt to take (it worked before, why not try it again), but I also think it is incredibly important to show Armin's flaws. Yes, he's an amazing strategist. He's also still sixteen and not always entirely confident. Having Armin make mistakes like relying on old ploys that worked keeps his character more grounded and realistic
Smart people tend to use the same tactics over and over again as long as they're successful and for good reason. After all, why wouldn't you use the same tactic if you know it brings success? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's only when said strategy or tactic doesn't work where the individual would entertain the prospect of changing it or never using it again.
That’s Very Unfortunate!
WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT CGI COLOSSAL TITAN? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
36% of respondents aren’t very impressed with the CGI colossal titan, while 29% actually found the effect to be pretty awesome! 13% feel it’s disturbing and a small 7% just find it cringeworthy.
Alright
CGI doesn't bother me. What bothers me is how animators overly rely on it. Several decades ago animators made great masterpieces without cgi, all by hand. I understand using it because it makes things easier, but exceeding quality should still be top priority. If you can't make it better with CGI, then go old school and do it right.
Decent but could be better
U can still notice it is CGI but I think their CGI has gotten better compared to some of their earlier uses of it
Doesn't fit with the art style, which is as bad as unfair splitting potatoes
Not too bad but could definitely have been better. Understandable since there has only been one full body shot of it before and that was a sharp backwards, down looking angle.
Don’t really care much for cgi complaints, animating that would be a lot of work, their efforts are better elsewhere
It was necessary and didn't look appallingly bad.
I don't get why people hate it so much? I think it's fine
I hated it in season 2 and I hate it more now
Bad
Don't like CGI anything in any anime so take from that what you will
Most angles he looks fine! The only part that he looked off was when we got the face shot of him panning out to the rest of his body
Thought it looked solid. There were some really great shots of him this ep imo. Hopefully the action bits will look as good, and they mix in some 2D shots as well.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE 104TH RIDING ON TITAN EREN? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
Over half of the fandom agree that this detail is something that’s very adorable, while 22% feel it’s just pretty neat. A combined 21% of respondents either feel it’s not that big of a deal or simply don’t care about it.
>AMJCS who cares?
Good boy protecting his friends? Hell Yeah!
I want to ride pieck - Not an innuendo, i just want a go in one of her turrets
It's gay
Lads you would never get me off that thing, I'd be saddling him up to go grocery shopping
Save me a seat guys!!
HOW WELL DID THE EPISODE ADAPT THE CORRESPONDING CHAPTERS? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
Manga readers are overall happy with the adaptation of chapters 77 and 78, with over 90% saying that it was close to being perfectly done.
DID MARCO’S DEATH AFFECT YOU AS MUCH AS IT DID IN THE MANGA? 305 Responses
Tumblr media
41% of respondents felt more heartbroken to see Marco’s death play out in the anime, while 31% say they felt more sympathetic toward Marco. 14% weren’t affected when this scene played out in either story-telling medium.
About the same level, still utterly heartbreaking, though
DEATH TO THE TITAN TRIO!
Didn't feel as much. Not because it was a bad adaptation, but just because I've already read it and knew what went down.
I felt more sorry for RBA than Marco in this version
I still had lot of emotions with the adaptation, but there's no compare to experiencing it for the first time
I was absolutely sobbing when I read it in the manga. Anime-wise I was more prepared to handle the scene
Watching Marco die again reminds me of why, even in current manga, I still completely and utterly LOATHE/DESPISE/HATE RBA. No, I don't care about their "tragic backstory", they don't deserve empathy of any kind.
It had the same impact when I first watched the trailer for the Lost Girls OVA, which spoiled me his death
It was tough to watch, but it was necessary to deepen Reiner, Bertolt, Annie (and Marco)'s characters. It was very well done, dramatically
Oh fuck it was WAY WORSE animated. Actually hearing his cries and screams is something that can never be duplicated in written form
I did not anticipate being as affected as I was by the Marco flashback. That doesn’t give me hope for how I’m going to handle the rest of the RtS arc. The emotions of the characters are being portrayed very well this season.
NOW THAT WE’VE HAD A CHANCE TO LISTEN TO ZEKE HAVE MORE DIALOGUE, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HIS VOICE? 305 Responses
Tumblr media
The majority of the fandom believe that Zeke’s seiyuu is a good fit for his character, although over half of the fandom had expected his voice to sound a bit different. 10% feel it wasn’t the best choice, while a small sliver of respondents don’t care for the voice at all.
I can't unhear DIO. Thanks Zeke, thanks Koyasu.
Zeke's VA also voices a lovely, kind character in Violet Evergarden, so his lines are making me really, really uncomfortable
WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT PIECK’S TITAN VOICE? 307 Responses
Tumblr media
30% of respondents are excited about Pieck’s titan voice, while 28% feel it’s not what they expected to hear. 18% find the voice “acceptable” while 17% want to wait and hear more before making a final verdict.
Pieck's voice was unexpected in that it was terrifying, much like Ymir's Titan voice
Holy shit. I'm gonna hear it in my nightmares
I rabu Piku.
REGARDING CURRENT MANGA EVENTS, DO YOU THINK REINER STILL WANTS TO STAY TRUE TO HIS PROMISE TO YMIR? 308 Responses
Tumblr media
Nearly half of the fandom believe that Reiner would still like to honor his promise to Ymir, but feel that he will never actually get to pull through. 15% believe that he’s still determined to save Historia no matter what, and 18% believe that he’s actually stopped caring about his promise (or perhaps just Historia in general) altogether.
Good question. I really want to have a scene with him facing Historia, his reaction to her pregnancy should be interesting
He doesn't want to save HISTORIA because he doesn't know her. The one he wanted to save was KRISTA. But she is already "dead"
I think Reiner has done what he needed to
I'm not sure, I think his main concerns are the kids and stopping Eren
It has to be real low on his priority list right about now given the circumstances
Of course not, Reiner only cares about his own manpain
He still calls her Krista and she probably has already chosen a side most likely Yeagerist
ARMIN HAD WISHED FOR A CHANCE TO NEGOTIATE AT THIS POINT, SIMILAR TO CURRENT MANGA EVENTS. IS THIS PROOF THAT HE HASN’T BEEN CHANGED BY BERTOLT’S MEMORIES? 308 Responses
Tumblr media
44% don’t want to say either way whether Armin’s pre-titan behavior is indicative of the influence that Bertolt may or may not have over the Armin we know in the current manga. 39% believe that this is proof Eren’s words to Armin were total B.S., and 12% think this isn’t really proof of anything.
Armin Has always been the diplomat, while Eren is a man of force. Mikasa is in between. It has always been that way.
Past and future are influenced the same when paths are concerned so there's no way to tell.
I don’t think it’s enough to prove or disprove but this is an interesting idea
I don't get this 'changed' shit. Of course having access to someone else's memories has its own influence on a person, but that's true of anyone on the planet who's read a memoir as well. Everything has its effect. The titan shifter thing is obviously a bit more invasive than that, but it doesn't mean he's now suddenly possessed by Beartoto's fucking undead spirit.
I'd like to think it is but with everything Isayama's been throwing at us from out of left field who knows
he's always wished for negotiation, but he seems to have changed in his methods for negotiation. armin used to be more abrupt and upfront, whereas now he seems more tentative
No, he wasn't chanced that much. He understands RBA better and has more sympathy for Annie (maybe even has a crush on her) but it has nothing to do with being a slave.
SIMILARLY, MIKASA POINTS OUT HOW BERTOLT FEELS LIKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON. ARE THE MEMORIES OF HIS PREDECESSOR AFFECTING HIM IN THIS ARC? 306 Responses
Tumblr media
Over half of the fandom feel that Bertolt’s current behavior at this point in the series is of his own will, and not influenced by any prior holders of the Colossal Titan. 38% think it’s possible he’s being influenced by memories of his predecessor(s) at this time, while a small percentage feel that he is definitely being influenced by someone else’s memories.
He was badass but I think he was affected by memories of the previous CT owner.
I think that Mikasa thinks he’s acting like a different person because he is. I think this is what Bertholdt is really like but with the 104th he was playing a role so he didn’t get too attached to them.
Still wondering if the "he seemed like a different person" comment was a note about development or supposed to foreshadow something about the Titans influencing their hosts.
I think it’s original Ymir controlling him through the paths
Probably. It seems like a bit of a drastic change to go from quiet, self-deprecating and remorseful to cold, outspoken, and trying to morally justify his actions. It's just too drastic a change.
Confidence boost is completely irrelevant to paths.
We don’t even know Bert’s previous predecessors!
Nope, that's have something to do with "character development", people change sometimes after time and grown more indepented and strong of their own shadow.
I always thought of it more as Bertie finally coming down on a side and the pair picking up on that. He was always so meek and indecisive, but now he's been forced to make a choice and to do it he has to shed his old skin and become more ruthless.
Not at all he ditched his guilt that made up the act they knew him for.
WHAT SCENE ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE PREVIEW? 307 Responses
Tumblr media
The overwhelming majority of respondents are looking forward to the Survey Corps’ suicide charge against the Beast Titan and his flying boulders. Nearly 30% are looking forward to the moment that Levi gives Erwin his promise to kill the Beast Titan. A small percentage are most looking forward to Armin and Jean decide who’s going to lead the 104th to victory.
I am not ready for the next two episodes
I’m gonna get my ASS FUCKED SO HARD I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. THERES GONNA BE SHIT EVERYWHERE. ERWINS GONNA FUCKING DIE. LEVIS GONNA BE SAD.
fuck next week's shit is good, hype
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
The "predecessor's memory affecting current shifter" is, as far as I'm aware, just a theory that I don't buy into. I've only seen a person "changed" because of the Founding Titan's vow. Otherwise, the shifter's personality remains the same. Armin has always been an advocate for talking and negotiation. We see this in the Trost arc when the Garrison nearly kill Eren with that cannonball. So no, I don't think anyone's memories are "affecting" anyone, including current Eren.
Loved pretty much everything in this episode except for the CGI CT. Didn't expect to see uncensored Reiner, which was weird because Mikasa cutting off Bert's ear was more censored. And I'm a bit disappointed we didn't see more shots of Bert with his V fringe off his forehead. He looked so cool in the manga!
This episode gave me anxiety 'cause I know what we'll going to deal in the next three ones. The soundtrack gave intensity in every scene that its put on it, plus the fantastic job of the VA, perfect work. And just thinking about how the next episodes will be.... *goosebumps*
Wit studio handled the cgi very well imo. It's very difficult to animate this action heavy arca with rubble, smoke, odm scenes etc. and I think they are adapting the manga very well with the right pacing per episode which is also a challenge to fit within 20 minutes.
Bertolt is best boi and this episode was the best of all 3. He deserved to survive and mature up. Hashizume nailed him JUST RIGHT and his interactions with Reiner this episode were on point. The scene where he outsmarted Armin and countered Mikasa was worthy of applause.
i wish it wasn’t too rushed some moments aren’t as emotional as they should be
mikasa looked so good this episode and i'm so happy with how wit isn't screwing her over
After seeing this episode and Marco's death, it makes me sad that Reiner lost his pal Bertolt. They should be suffer bois together. Even still, some of the animation this episode was reallyy not great, so I rated the episode a 4.
Bertolt has proved on this episode that he's one of the best character of the series
I miss berthold so much and seeing him at his best was awesome but it’s really hard knowing what’s going to happen next
This is shaping up to be the best season of Attack On Titan. Cheers for more!
zeke’s beard is the tenth titan shifter

Tier list of my personal favourite Attack on Titan characters.
Explanations under the cut:
Disclaimer: These are a mix of objective traits (development, presence, etc.) and my subjective tastes. Positions can get abitrary and I may change my mind over time.
I know I’m biased but I think Hanji is objectively the best character in SnK (although after serum bowl she has been dropping off). For more than half of the manga, she is intelligent, compassionate, and badass, while still feeling like a real character with moral dilemmas and emotions. For someone who isn’t a Titan shifter, an Ackerman, have royal blood, or anything special really, Hange is an exceptional character.
Erwin is a close second place. He has one of the most complex character conflicts. He is intelligent, invaluable, and I will even say, as one of the biggest Hanji stans, that Erwin was the best leader of the Scouts. There is so much to Erwin and the conflict over his own morals against his desires is a big highlight of the manga for me. If I didn’t have a Hange bias, I would have a hard time deciding between these two for the top spot.
Ymir and Zeke are S-tier because I find them to be fascinating characters. I don’t really know why I like Zeke other than that he’s interesting. I know he directly and indirectly killed a ton of people with no remorse. I am no Zeke apologist. But both his role in the story and his character is endlessly fascinating to me. If he wasn’t, he’d easily be a D-tier character.
Pieck is here because she is an incredibly quick thinker and the most interesting of the Warriors to me personally.
The A tier consists entirely of the 104th characters plus Levi. Armin and Jean are more or less equal to me; Armin edges out because I like him more personally, but Jean is just as good of a character.
Sasha is high up there because she played a valuable role of comic relief. Mikasa is lower on the list because I think she needs more development and focus, but she still is a fantastic character.
Levi, similarly, is a developed character (momtaku made an excellent meta about this) and thus there is no growth.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Historia Reiss. She is probably the character I relate to the most. However, her presence in the manga has dropped off significantly. She is more or less a pawn in the plans between Marleyans vs Warriors vs Eren vs Zeke’s squad. However, I cannot discount her excellent character development or her importance in the story. She rejected her father’s wishes despite only ever longing for a family and opens an orphanage farm to help those once in her place. She’s wonderful. I want her to show up at some point.
B-tier characters are characters that are pretty all right, but not as good as A characters. Eren is the highest because of the radical shift in his behaviour and his mysterious motivations.
Connie is in B-tier because he needs much more focus to stand among the A-tier characters. He has had a lot of development but he needs his time to shine. Maybe facing off against Zeke?
Annie is also here because she seems to not be on anyone’s “side” besides her father’s and has had really interesting behaviour. I wrote a meta once where I described her as using cruelty as a tool, similarly to Armin.
Kenny is here because he played an antagonistic role very well, gave Levi a lot of development and helped with world building. Kenny was the only villain character (aside from Zeke) that I would be excited to see on the screen.
Hannes is here because he served as a mentor death and I’m really partial to that trope. I also think he’s underrated. He was the one who looked after EMA.
It was hard to place Reiner. I like him, and he gets a lot of focus and development, but it was really hard to care for him. I think the problems come from the large cast that all deserve focus and the pacing (one chapter a month is a snail’s pace compared to pacing). By the time we got to Reiner, I thought, “I’ve already seen this development”. It’s the exact problem that makes Gabi suffer as a character.
C-tier are characters that have some development but fall short, or characters we saw so little of that are neither good nor bad characters. These characters have potential to graduate to higher tiers. The underdeveloped characters are Willy Tibur, the Warhammer titan, Onyankopon, Eren Kruger, and Nile Dok. The first two are already dead, but played interesting roles. Eren Kruger I can see getting up higher, whether we see him through flashbacks or the “paths”. Nile Dok represents the life Erwin rejected. He’s mostly a reasonable person and is probably one of the least corrupt military police officers. Onyankopon is here because while he’s important re: world-building and Marley relations, he doesn’t do much.
I put Falco at the top because I like that he’s a purehearted, selfless character. He serves as the view of innocence and someone to look after Gabi. If he dies to give development to a character (which is likely Gabi and what is going to happen), he might go up a tier.
Next is Dot Pixis. I think my only gripe with him is that while he’s a funny, wise character, he hasn’t done much. Yet. I predict that I’ll move him into B-tier as the series goes on. (Also, he arguably has done a lot via politics, but that’s in the background).
I put Bertholt next. In a word, he’s boring. He’s a support for Reiner and serves as the rational voice when Reiner is suffering from dual personalities and Annie is out of commission. He’s needed but he’s been mostly a background character. He went in his mission with a rational head and I don’t doubt he planned to just be a background character. He then gets a rather anti-climatic death. I doubt Bertholt can be rated higher at this point.
D-tier are characters that are bad. I include both villains and unlikeable characters. Keith Shadis is at the top because he played an important role in training the 104th and exposition re: Grisha Jaegar, but that’s it. What makes him unlikeable is this idea that only some people are destined to do great, and everyone else isn’t going to do anything. Carla Jaeger directly argues him and shapes Eren’s worldview: all life is valuable. Carla and Shadis serve as foils to one another; namely he gives development to Carla, which then speaks about Eren and a main theme of the series.
Porco is kind of… there. He’s the little brother of the more interesting character Marcel. He’s a jerk and he doesn’t have intelligence, compassion, or fighting skill to really stand out. I don’t like him, but he’s not the worst character.
People hate Gabi. While I don’t think she deserves any of the vitriol I’ve seen about her, she’s a bad character mostly because we’ve seen it before. She’s mini Eren. And she has no redeeming qualities. It makes sense that she might end up injuring someone, but being the one actually responsible for Sasha’s death? With Sasha’s instincts? That’s hard to believe. I would like her a little more if she was indirectly responsible to her death, like if she shot at Sasha, or even if Sasha tried to save Gabi and ended up getting killed instead.
Yelena sucks so far. She’s vital to Zeke’s plans but it’s hard to just accept she’s simply that enamoured with Zeke. If I had to guess, Yelena suffered from severely low self-esteem and Zeke ‘saved’ her in a way. Maybe Yelena hated her for being descended from Ymir so much from Marleyan brainwashing. And Zeke offered her a solution. Perhaps she went to kill herself and Zeke offered her a role to help euthanize Eldians. I’ll move Yelena up if she gets development.
Grisha Jaeger was an enigma that we learned shaped both Eren and Zeke. Grisha is representative of radical Eldian restoration and used his own children as tools for this plan. As a character he is pretty well-developed, plays multiple roles, and essentially is the core of the series. But I dislike him so much. I think a lot of people do because he is genuinely an abusive father. I know that he had the greater goal of liberating Paradis in mind but he murdered innocents and traumatized his children.
E-tier characters are irredeemable trash and more or less as subjective as the S+ tier.
Zackley sucks because of poop machine. I get it, I too want to torture corrupt nobles, but I also don’t want to abuse a position of power, you feel? Most people didn’t care much over his death. The only good thing about it was that his own poop machine was used to kill him.
Rod Reiss is a coward. His family was slaughtered in front of him. He survived because he ran away and abandoned them (I think that was the implication?). Then he goes to try to manipulate the bastard daughter he never actually cared for to salvage his own pride.
Floch is specifically designed for you to hate him. It’s kind of incredible how quickly he can change sides. It’s almost unrealistic, but he does know he is a coward. His death will more-or-less be catharsis.
Characters not in the tier list that I would rank:
Rico Brzenska - B-tier
Ian Dietrich - B-tier
Moblit Berner - B-tier
Mike Zacharias - B-tier
Marlo Fraudenberg - B-tier
Carla Jaeger - B-tier
Levi’s squad (collectively) - B-tier
Flegel Reeves - C-tier
Frieda Reiss - C-tier
Hitch Dreyse - C-tier
Pastor Nick - C-tier
Uri Reiss - C-tier
Kitz Woermann - D-tier
EDIT: Oh my god, I forgot Marco. That’s how little of an impact he made on me. I’ll put Uri Reiss and forget Marco even happened. He’d get, uh, C-tier. He’s mostly just there to develop Jean.
