What I’ve seen on TikTok by nesta stans/nesta neutrals is the belief that Cassian was exactly what Nesta needs. And I agree with this...to an extent.

It’s true that Cassian had the best chance to get through to her compared to the other members in the court, but generally he is also very replaceable in her healing journey.

The one thing Cassian ever offered Nesta was training. And Nesta took to training really well and it became a positive outlet for her trauma. But if you switched out instructors, say replace Cassian with Azriel later on, nothing would have changed. Nesta would still be invested in her training. Nesta would have still reignited the Valkyrie legacy. She would have also still built the strong bonds she has with Gwyn, Emerie and The House too.

Cassian kept training strictly professional, so it stayed independent from him.

Which is why I wished Cassian was more involved outside of training. It would have been more impactful if Cassian also trained her mind and actively worked to change her personal outlook. 

In the book, it mentions how he knew that she struggled with self-hatred, but never knew the depths of her pain. This bothers me a lot, because I never see him actually do anything about it. And the fact that he knew that she was hurting and never stepped in...

There were no empowering moments between Nessian. Cassian never highlighted her acccomplishments or uplifted her in any way. Most of the emotional connection they had was very surface level and always ended sexually, negating any true development between them.

Which is why, at the end of the book, he is able to say such things like “I thought you wanted to be like us”. He doesn’t know her at all. 

Cassian never fostered any real change in her. If anything, he and his court frequently threatened to set her back. 

Which is why I believe that what Nesta really needed to heal was herself, Emerie x Gwyn x and The House. 

The ones who told Nesta that her story mattered. The ones who told her that she never failed anybody. The ones who never judged. The ones who inspired her. The ones who supported her without question. The ones who actually gave her the freedom she craved. The ones who showed her the unconditional love that she deserved.

Nesta and the House of Wind friendship is so beautiful ❤️ but it also makes me sad how Nesta had to resort to making herself a friend out of how lonely she was

I think the house befriending her really showed us that she was just lonely and all she ever needed was a friend. The fact that she was upset that Amren left her shows that. The way she was more upset about Amren being the one to vote then the actual vote shows it since Amren was her “friend”.

Honestly out of everyone in the world, she chose Amren? I’d rather be lonely for the rest of my life than have that b!tch as my friend

A house treated her better than anyone ever did & I think that’s how she was able to (kind of) handle being there. The house was her friend, then she met Gwyn and Emerie, and they became her friends. I truly believe that those three are the ones who saved Nesta.

I just hope we see more of Nesta and her friends in the future. The house of wind is probably the best character in the series LMAOO
