#the hobbit movies are so extra

the funny thing, to me, about movie theaters refusing to show any other edition of lotr but the extended editions is that it makes the movies so long that you kinda have to get up and go pee at least once and in that time frame you are missing out on the scenes they added back in so what is the point i ask you there is no point please show the normal movies for us folks with bladders and limited time

god i love lotr especially the online fandom bc i might not be a part of it but knowing that one of my dads most formative pieces of media something that he told me stories about in great detail (he knows the lore by heart) making me grow up hearing about it, is also some 17 year olds source of gay fanfiction is simply the best thing
#im not kidding btw lotr was a huge part in the bond me and my dad have its the reason why my dad likes medieval fantasy#which he passed down to me so ots the reason i lile medieval europe fantasy and history#but my favorite book was never lotr its another one by some italian lady#but i always considered it a like???? dude bro heavy metal liker thing. like its so nerdy. the stereotypical kind kf nerdy#to me and stuff thats what lotr meant. heavy metal guys in their 30s dad time and big book.#so finding a whole community of younger queer people who like it online in a COMPLETELY different way is SO NICE#inspires me to actually finish reading the book#(it was kind of boring for me granted i was 12 and had just rea what i perceived as the coolest books ever)#(like the starting section is genuinely very boring but i picked it up again one of these days and actually likes it)#(even if its a bit of an infodump that could be conveied inside the story)#(but you could argue it *is* inside the story seeing that the author writing it is a character#(not a character in the book like. he isnt tolkien tolkien wrote his books introduction woth full imersion in my mind i think)#(but even if it seems a little bit unnecessary it actually provides a lot of insight to the hobbits history that is pretty cool to the stor#it gives ot that extra layer of understanding of the whole universe and middle earth which really increases imersion)#(((ive never read kt but i did watch the movies which YES i know isny The Real Authentic Thing give me a break)))#sg.txt

Not to be overdramatic about a movie that came out over 20 years ago but the end of The Fellowship of the Ring has me in tears over here, okay?
"I would have gone with you to the end. Into the very fires of Mordor" it's a promise that he knows he can't keep because Frodo needs to go alone, but he needs Frodo to know that regardless of anything, he is with him.
Merry and Pippin, realizing that Frodo has to go, and leading the Uruk-Hai away, just to give him that extra chance, because that's their job on this quest. (It needs people of intelligence, after all.)
Boromir coming in, doing his damnedest to save these Hobbits he's grown so fond of, fighting and dying for them because he knows he failed Frodo in that moment, but he can't fail these two. Until he does. But he passes on the message to Aragorn, setting up the three hunters. And he dies in the arms of his king, finally admitting that.
Anyway, lots of other people have already said all of this better than me, but this is my blog so I can do what I want.

Thinking about the fact that in sophomore year chemistry I wore a lotr shirt to school one day after winter break and apparently my chemistry teacher was a total lotr nerd and was feeling generous cause this was our exact conversation
"Hey! You like lotr?"
"Yeah :)) we actually watch the movies every year on new years"
"Ohh cool! Who's your favorite character"
"Pippin, he's actually a very underrated character and most people don't realize it"
"That's true, yeah. Have you read the books?"
"No, I don't own them and can never find them at the library"
"Do you want the books?"
"What?"
"I have so many copies of the books I can give you the whole set if you want"
"Sure, I mean yeah if that's okay!"
"Ofc, give me a day or two"
And then literally the next day he comes to my desk and dramatically slams the whole lotr trilogy AND the hobbit on my desk right after class starts and just goes "I threw in an extra for you"
I loved that teacher so much he was actually the best, the whole class was staring at us like we were insane tho lmaooo

sometimes i like to think about the fact that tolkien wrote the definitive ending for each of his characters. if you’ve only watched the movies you probably haven’t heard of or read the appendices to lotr, which contains some details that didn’t really have a spot in the books’ narrative official, like aragorn & arwen’s love story and courtship, and the eventual fates of all the main players.
a lot of stories are self-contained and focus on a certain part of the character’s lives. their childhood, their teenage years, their 20’s 30’s 40’s, until their happily-ever-after and all else is left to the imagination. for some stories, that’s what they need and it works and you can rest easy knowing the characters made it and they’re alright now and they will be alright when we say farewell to them and go our separate ways.
and tolkien made the interesting choice to tell when and how each of his characters died. and it’s not like some stories where an unnecessarily sad death comes unnecessarily into a story for shock value or extra drama. the whole of lotr is seeped on death and decay and especially on passing away. the elves are leaving never to return and one day the world will forget they ever existed. their beautiful homes and joyful songs and eons under the trees forgotten and nothing more than a ruin and a memory that no one who saw them will even be alive to remember. the men of numenor come back from near extinction but even as their descendants go on there are still only a few who will remember the ones who were really there. so it’s perhaps understandable that tolkien chose to write the happy ending. the real happy ending.
the happy ending that was exactly what each character needed and what you would want for each character. they each live full lives with the ones they love, all their greatest dreams and hopes realized. aragorn and arwen marry, eomer becomes king of rohan, the hobbits return home and sam builds the family he wanted with rosie. and yet gandalf leaves, and frodo goes with him, and though there is joy there is parting, and it breaks your heart. and it feels very adult because isn’t that the truth of adulthood? you meet people you love and you live and you see each other whenever you can, and time passes and you go your own ways and though you remember them and love then you live your life and then one day it’s over.
and so tolkien wrote the ending and it’s exactly what you think each character would do and how it would go. and i think about sometimes the wisdom and the life experience needed to write the whole life of each character, how and where they died and who was with them.

Lord Of The Rings With a Platonic, Child Reader From Our World
Tumblr media
Characters included : Frodo Baggins, Legolas, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin ' Pippin ' Took and Meriadoc ' Merry ' Brandybuck
Note(s) : They don't have the time to turn around, so you sort of get roped into joining them, at least until they find a place for you to stay.
Also, in this the reader knows about the Jackson movies but never really paid attention to them, and they haven't read the books.
Frodo Baggins
Tumblr media
Ah, yes, Frodo. Resident ring bearer and anxiety magnet. He was quick to defend you if any suspicion arouse of your random arrival, you're a human and can't even reach his height, the Hobbit that can't reach an elves or humans chest, so, you must be incredibly young. Because of this, Frodo can't help but want to help you, especially on the quest.
He's very sweet and caring with you and makes sure you get enough rest. Frodo can't exactly carry you, so if you get too tired to walk the most he can do is hold your hand and guide you along. Despite that, he helps in other ways.
Like how he's always giving you extra food and maybe even a spare coat or blanket that's laying around, he makes sure you get enough sleep even if it means he gets less. Given he's the most important part of this mission to destroy the ring, he's usually a bit babied and overprotected, not so much that's it's immediately noticeable, but it's there.
So, he understands how annoyed you can get when it happens with you, though he definetly thinks your situations are different considering he's technically an adult and you aren't even close to being one.
Frodo isn't too sure how to help you when it comes to you being afraid, or angry, or even just in a state of depression about your situation. He doesn't exactly realise how strange and overwhelming it must be for you, until or if you begin to start wearing down mentally. His solution is to try and read you stories, no, he didn't exactly bring any books with him, but he has certain books memorised.
It may help, it may not, but the thought is what counts, and he is trying to help you the best he can with the unfortunate situation he's in.
If you ever claim to know him or the fellowships story, maybe Bilbo's, or even accidently letting in on events to follow, he's stunned. At first given the fact you claimed to be from a land nobody, not even Gandalf, has heard of, the strange reactions you had to their foods and way of life, among many, many other things, he became convinced you weren't human. That, or you were from a different time, the future specifically, he'd never fully believe it or bring it up, but it's always a sneaking suspicion you aren't what you claim.
When it comes time to leave you at a safe village, you're clearly unhappy, wanting nothing more than to stay with the Hobbit who helped you through your toughest hours. Yet, he understands you mustn't come with him, it's far too dangerous for you. And so, he leaves, leaving you heartbroken.
When he eventually returns, the ring destroyed, Middle Earth saved, he can't help but feel empty. His time spent with you becomes short lived, a few months at most, before he decides to move on, leaving you alone again, I suppose it makes leaving Middle Earth to return home easier, but all the more bitter.
Legolas
Tumblr media
Legolas understood how weak humans are compared to his kind, and to see a human child so alone made his heart break. He couldn't help but become your protector, especially when you seemingly had no idea how to function in this world. Sometimes, if you're too tired and the rest of the group isn't, he'll pick you up, it can make you feel a little weak, but he assures you it's just because you're young. He'd treat any other child the same.
I think he may be one of the few to actually understand in part what you mean when you say you aren't 'from here'. He won't clock in immediately, but after seeing just how different you viewed life and just everything in general, how you can't do the most basic of tasks without some help, or how you looked at him with such familiarity, there's just a lot he notices that makes him raise a brow.
If you tell him, Legolas may believe your making it up, you're a kid after all, one that's going through a lot. But, after realising you're dead serious he wracks his brain trying to remember if anybody has ever mentioned something like this happening. He wants to try and help you go home, and plans to bring you home with him so he can find a solution somewhere. And if he can't find one? He wants to help you find peace in your predicament as long as you stay there.
When it comes time to leave you at a safe haven, he is sad to leave you behind, you're a little friend, after all. But, he understands it must be done, and explains to you exactly that, which makes the ending a bit more sweet than bitter.
Eventually, he does return, and meets with you once more, he understands that in a blink of his lifetime you'll be dead, but, that doesn't stop him from being your closest ally during all of this. However, you do need to return to Earth. He finds himself mourning you far sooner than he expected.
Samwise Gamgee
Tumblr media
Sam becomes a literal dad, you're a random human kid in this traumatic journey to destroy one of the most dangerous items in the entirety of middle Earth, and you claim to have no idea where you are. He's giving you extra food, holding your hand and picking you up, if you get too cold or scared in the night he'll try hugging you for a while and telling you stories of misadventures in the Shire. As plain as they may seem compared to a journey to destroy the most dangerous object in the entirety of Middle Earth.
If you're sad, the most he can do is offer comfort in the way of cuddling, or a story, sometimes he even has to ask Gandalf for help because he's just so lost. Anger is something he can deal with a little better, he holds your hand and tells you why you should be angry, but you shouldn't keep it bottled or use it unfairly against others.
I think at first Sam would just believe you come from a strange human place, and that's why your behaviour is so off. That's until he notices some things, when asked about things he'd consider basic knowledge, you are completely blank, sure, maybe you know what an elf is, but after that you sort of just stare at him confused at what he's talking about. You even believed him to be a dwarf at first!
He asks Boromir and Aragorn if they know any human places that you're talking about, neither know, so he's even more perplexed at what on middle earth you're talking about. He begins to believe you're making it up, he's not condescending like most adults, and he pretends that he understands if to give you some peace of mind, but all it does is make you more frustrated and scared. You just want to go home.
Your short time as friends comes to an end, he must leave further on in the journey, and you must stay behind, you both understand, well, he does and you partly do, all you can do is wait for the ring to be destroyed.
Sam returns, and he takes you back to the Shire with him, where he introduces you to everybody, you're almost like a child to him, but then you leave to go back to Earth. He can't stop his heart from breaking, even more so when Frodo leaves.
Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck and Peregrin 'Pippin' Took
Tumblr media
The fact you're incredibly young, found yourself in a traumatic and confusing situation, let's not even mention the fact there's little people with gigantic hariy feet and no shoes, you'll probably try and cope. Whether that's with humor or shutting down, Pippin and Merry are a package deal, no matter if you like them or not, a young and confused presence egnites their curiosity.
Besides, Gandalf specifically told them to not be overbearing and or overwhelm you, so what does Pippin, master of disappointing and angering the grey wizard do? That's right, he becomes overwhelming. And Merry, master of attempting to one up his dear friend, does the exact same.
How they do this depends on your mood, if you're depressed and very shy they'll try cheering you up, asking questions about your home, if that makes it worse? They begin acting even more childish than usual to make you laugh, to the literal pain and torture of Gandalf. But if you're trying to cope with humour, they are more so just tagging along, making jokes that distract you from your pain.
Neither will clock in that you're from an unfamiliar world, sure, you're weird, but so are they. Both assume your strange actions are simply just a result of you being a human, do Boromir or Aragorn act the same? No, but you're a human kid so, that probably factors in somehow.
Both laugh you off if you try to explain the truth, they don't believe you, and reduce it to a good story that they can give to Frodo to write about. You may get angry, sad, or just decide to go with it, neither really notice that you're not lying until someone else points out how dumb that idea is.
When it finally comes time to drop you off, you want to stay with the two, because while they're in part strangers and this is a strange land, they're at least familiar, unlike the place they're basically abandoning you at. Pippin and Merry feel the same, and so sneak you with them.
The situation may become dire, and you probably get incredibly unhealthy and sickly in your time with them, but when it's all over, you feel like you've gained two older brothers. Which will make it so much more painful when you have to say goodbye.

today was the whole-trilogy extended editions we-die-like-riders-of-rohan-in-a-26-degree-movie-theater marathon of lord of the rings, and i gotta say watching these movies two decades later,
they're still delightful
it's funny how they seem more and more an artifact of the period they were produced in (not in a bad way, mind)
it is annoying how little peter jackson trusts his audience. like. all major landmarks have to be within line of sight of each other. voice overs have to unambiguously lampshade every plot beat that was foreshadowed earlier in the movie. gandalf all but literally says at the end of the two towers "see you next time in... return of the king!" moments in the books that are already hella cinematic like the paths of the dead have to punched up just a little extra, like with an indiana jones skull slide. and it's just not necessary! trust your audience!
you can really tell what dialogue is from the books, and what dialogue is original attempts at tolkien pastiche, because even if you don't know the books encyclopedically, the walsh-boyens-jackson team is just. not at all up to doing the pastiche well. this isn't counting the lines that are absolutely cringe, like "let's hunt some orcs." or all of gimli's dialogue. god they do gimli so dirty turning a prince of the dwarves into the drunken comic relief.
when did we decide all dwarves were scottish, and they all used the same vaguely modernist angular architecture? i think it was before lord of the rings. was it in the 90s? the 80s?
was the Tomato Incident a spontaneous choice by john noble or a directorial decision? did they have to do multiple takes?
it's so fun watching these movies in theaters now because the bits that gets everyone to laugh or cheer are the ones that have seeped into pop culture in weird ways. "they're taking the hobbits to isengard," of course. "po-ta-toes." but also just aragorn kicking the helmet got a big giggle from the audience, because everyone was Thinking The Thing.
some extremely committed soul came in cosplay, with a thick elven-style cloak and everything, despite the fact it was unusually hot today and the Babylon's ac was not coping well. i don't know how they survived. i hope they survived?

Queen of His Heart
Summary: Bucky unexpectedly meets one of his idols
Written for: @the-slumberparty
Words: 1948
Square Filled: G1- Meet Cute
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Actress!Reader
Warnings: Bucky dressed as a Frank Frazetta barbarian (Come on, you know this is a warning)
A/N: Set in a modern AU. I had way too much fun creating this fictional fantasy series XD
Bucky didn’t fit the stereotype of a nerd. He was tall and beefy with long hair. Most people are surprised when they find out about his special interests. Bucky loved D&D, fantasy novels, cosplaying and LARPing. His favourite book was his copy of The Hobbit which he had since he was a boy. Another favourite of his was a series called Maidens of Wrath.
There was so much about this series that Bucky loved. He loved the strong female characters, from the wicked Sister Nimsay; high priestess of the Order of Bulgraith to the kind hearted Isra who ran a local tavern that the characters frequented. His favourite character by far was Queen Ranlova. She was the eldest of seven siblings in this matriarchal society. While five of her sisters each ruled a kingdom of their own and her brother was a royal advisor, it was the duty of Queen Ranlova to keep the peace between the kingdoms. She didn’t always get along with her siblings but she could be kind and just while also being a fierce warrior. Bucky also enjoyed the relationship between Ranlova and the barbarian prince Yarreth. The prince admired the queen without pathetically pining over her while at the same time, respecting her boundaries. Not once was Yarreth disrespectful towards Ranlova should she turn him down.
When Bucky first heard that they were making a TV series out of the books, he was excited, yet reserved. For example, The Lord of the Rings movies were absolute perfection (even if they did leave out his favourite scene; the Tom Bombadil one). The Hobbit Trilogy was okay but the Rings of Power series was abysmal in his opinion. Bucky counted down the days until the moment until the show aired and when it did, he was pleasantly surprised. It was everything he could have ever hoped for. They got all the details right and he especially loved the way the actress playing Queen Ranlova portrayed her. The series used a lesser-known actors, only casting the big names for certain characters. After the first episode, Bucky was hooked.
Bucky was excited about the upcoming fantasy convention. This year, the cast of Maidens of Wrath would be guest stars on the panel. He had his Prince Yarreth cosplay all ready to go and tried to think of any questions he might want to ask them. Now all he had to do was earn a little extra money so he could go.
Bucky was working his usual shift at the café. It was the same people with the same conversations and the same orders all over again. The only thing that was getting him through the day was the thought of going home to re-watch the latest released episode of Maidens of Wrath before heading to his shift at the restaurant. While working, he came across a new customer. He didn’t really see her face as she kept the cap of her baseball hat low and wore sunglasses. Something about this woman seemed familiar to him but he didn’t say anything. He would just have to keep an eye on her.
The whole time this mysterious woman was at the café, she didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. She just sat and drank her coffee like anyone else would do at a café. When Bucky went to clear up her space when she was finished, he noticed that she left something behind. Picking it up, it was a copy of the newest Maidens of Wrath novel: Metal Machine. This hadn’t even been released in the US yet. Whoever this woman was, clearly had special connections and Bucky knew if he had left something like this behind, he’d want it back. Bucky ran out the door with the book in his hand.
“Excuse me! Miss!” he called.
Bucky tried going after her but she was too fast. He wanted to go after her but felt like he’d look like a total creep chasing some poor woman down the street. Bucky thought if she was a fan like he was, she would come back to the café to pick it back up when she noticed it was missing. Until then he would take good care of the book.
Bucky had the next day off but informed all his coworkers what had happened and asked them to call him immediately if the woman came back for the book. Unable to help himself he started reading Maidens of Wrath: Metal Machine but forced himself to stop when he got to the neatly placed bookmark. As much as he wanted to devour the whole thing (and he easily could in a single night) he decided it would be a courtesy not to do so. If he went any further, he might accidently spoil something for someone in his excitement and he didn’t want to be that guy. This way, he might be able to discuss everything that had happened so far in MoW; Metal Machine with this woman. That is, if she would be open to it. Bucky was so engrossed in his reading that he nearly jumped out of his skin when his phone alerted him of an incoming message.
Nat: She’s here ;)
Bucky grinned at the message and immediately rushed to the café.
As soon as he arrived, Bucky looked around for this mystery woman. He spotted her sitting at the same corner booth she was yesterday, looking around nervously. Smiling, Bucky headed over to her and presented the book to her.
“I believe this belongs to you,” he stated, handing the book back.
The woman smiled and carefully tucked the item away in her bag.
“Thank you so much.”
“Anytime. You’re so lucky to get an advanced copy of Maidens of Wrath. You must have some pretty special connections,” Bucky rambled.
“You could say that,” the woman replied, lowering her sunglasses a little.
Bucky could have fainted right then and there. It was really her. Y/N L/N, the actress who played Queen Ranlova on the show. He realised his mouth was hanging open and quickly closed it, taking a seat across from her.
“I take it you’re a fan of the series,” she continued, pushing her sunglasses back up.
“Yes, ma’am. I love the way you bring Ranlova to life. You were a perfect choice for the role,” Bucky gushed.
“Well, thank you,” Y/N smiled, looking a little flustered.
Bucky started a conversation with her and it wasn’t long before it felt like they were old friends. He came to find that Y/N had a few acting roles before Maidens of Wrath so she wasn’t too well known yet but with the series boom in popularity, it was becoming her biggest one yet. She was really easy to talk to with a kind of country girl air about her. Bucky bonded with her over their mutual love of the fantasy series. Y/N’s favourite volume was book two: Crimson Glory whereas Bucky’s favourite was book five: Midnight Moon. Eventually Y/N’s phone pinged, indicating a message which informed her she needed to go.
“Will I see you at the convention?” she asked.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” he smiled.
Bucky couldn’t wait.
Finally, the day of the convention arrived. Bucky proudly examined his cosplay that he had worked so hard on. He wore a faux fur loin cloth, faux leather boots, and a gold circlet on his head. Over his left arm, Bucky had slipped a sleeve that looked like armour that had a strap to cross over his chest. Feeling good about himself, Bucky picked up his warrior axe walked out of his room for breakfast.
Bucky’s roommates Sam and Steve gawked at him as he sat down at the table.
“What?” he grumpily asked.
“Nothing… just didn’t realise Conan the Barbarian was joining us for breakfast,” Sam grinned.
Bucky grumbled under his breath.
“Leave him alone, Sam. He’s been really excited about for this,” Steve chided.
“Fine, fine,” Sam huffed. “You sure you want to leave the house like that though?”
“What’s wrong with my cosplay?” Bucky questioned, suddenly feeling doubts.
“Nothing at all… but if you get flocked by hordes of thirsty woman, that’s all on you,” Sam shrugged.
Bucky finished his breakfast in a hurry because 1. Sam was annoying and 2. He was excited to see Y/N again, grabbed his backpack (which kind of ruined the image a little but needed it nonetheless) and left for the convention.
By the time Bucky got there, the event was in full swing. There were cosplayers everywhere, vendors selling their goods and various demonstrations being held. Bucky was in geek heaven. He looked at the various displays people had, deciding what he may really want before buying anything, had his photo taken by many other attendees and somehow ended up in a group shot with other Yarreth cosplayers. Bucky was having the time of his life.
Finally, it came time for the event he was waiting for. A large crowd of people flooded into one of the buildings for it. Normally, Bucky hated crowds but for something like this, he would make due. When the Maidens of Wrath cast members walked out, they went wild. After they had taken their places, people asked their questions. Some were insightful, some were a little dumb while others were downright insulting. Bucky really wanted to throttle the ones who were disrespectful to the female cast members.
After the Q&A session, they aired a brand-new episode for the public to see. It was everything Bucky could hope for. They got every scene from the book right. Once the viewing was over, the cast went on to do pictures and signings. Bucky patiently waited in the line to meet Y/N. He would have been in that line anyway, even if he hadn’t had meet her a few days before. As he moved closer, he could hear her talking to the other convention goers, complementing them on their cosplays and giving words of encouragement. Finally, it was his turn at the front of the line.
“Hi, I don’t know if you remember me,” he began but she cut him off.
“Bucky, from the diner! Of course, I remember you! Your Yarreth cosplay is fantastic!” she beamed.
Bucky smiled brightly. She remembered him.
“I really enjoyed meeting you and I can’t thank you enough for returning my book.”
“You’re welcome. I’m glad I could help,” Bucky smiled.
Y/N sighed a photo, flipped it over and scribbled a message.
“Let’s take a picture together,” she encouraged.
Bucky got into a warrior stance and Y/N also posed.
“I hope to see you again,” she smiled, handing him the autograph and the photo.
Bucky walked off with his items so other people could take their turn. He couldn’t stop smiling as he read the message on the autograph.
Bucky, I normally don’t do this sort of thing but I really enjoyed talking to you the other day and had a lot of fun. I can’t wait to hear from you.
Love, Y/N
With the message, she had written her phone number. Who knows? Maybe one day they could have the same kind of relationship of Queen Ranlova and Prince Yarreth did. It was the kind of fantasy romance one could only dream of.

Special Agent Lokitty Masterlist
This blog archives all of @specialagentlokitty 's works into masterlists so they are easy to find. Please read through the Navigation section to help you find the fics you're looking for!
Updated through: end of 8/23
Navigation:
Under the cut, you'll find the list of fandoms that Lokitty writes for (or previously wrote for). The link will take you to a second masterlist of character x reader ships. This is where it can get tricky:
reader lists are lists which have character x reader works
specific!reader lists are lists which have character x reader works where the reader's relation to the character is more specified (ex. daughter!reader, student!reader, etc.)
all readers lists are lists which have character x reader and character x specific!reader works.
NOTE: Characters that have all readers lists will NOT have reader and specific!reader lists. all readers lists contain all the works for that character and are sorted by relation. What list a character has is entirely dependent on the number and type of works Lokitty has written.
From there, you can pick the character-reader relation, open the list link, and find all the fics you're looking for! If you're confused, play around with the links. You'll find what you're looking for.
If you're looking for crossover fics, pick one of the fandoms in the crossover. At the end of that list there is a Crossover Works link. You should be able to find the fic there.
other important notes:
some lists are short and list all the characters and their works without having extra links. These are easy to navigate.
reader traits such as male!reader and autistic!reader are listed next to the fic title and DO NOT have seprate lists.
all fics are (generally) listed from oldest to newest.
I tried my best to sort out all the crossover works, but this was already a huge project and some probably slipped through the cracks. I sorted everything to the best of my abilities, but it would have been impossible to read through every single work (and I'm unfamiliar with most of these fandoms). If you find a fic that isn't where it belongs or is missing lables/ wrong labels, please message me to let me know.
Lists are always under light construction. As Lokitty writes, sometimes things must be reorganized. Any major changes to navigation will always be noted above!

Okay so this might be one of the more off the wall questions you’ve ever received. So if snakes were people, how would they design their house. If I were a snake man, what kind of floor and wall shapes would be ideal for me to live in. Like I’m imagining a sort of cistern kind of shaped room with a mulch floor but what kind of person has a mulch floor?? What would a person use as flooring if they were a snake?
Uhhhhh hmm...
Okay.
I think a snake people would live in a Hobbit-style house with round doors, small-side-of-average circular rooms with domed ceilings, and tunnel-shaped hallways. Probably a few skylights in common areas. Conversation pit in the living room. It would feel a little cramped to the average person, and might be a bit cluttered. Furniture would be rustic hardwood with stone inlays and overstuffed chairs and sofas with lots of extra pillows. Their bed would be either a cozy hammock or a pillowtop mattress. The floors would be slate tile or sealed concrete with in-floor heating, with fluffy shag accent carpets that a snerson's toes can dig into, but that has good traction and isn't slippy. The bathroom would have a built-in sauna and/or rainfall shower. The kitchen would be embarrassingly small and poorly outfitted. Sneople love to eat but they're not big on cooking.
Lots of plants, polished stones, macrame. Not a ton of wall art (curved walls!) but a few choice pieces may be framed and displayed on tables and desks.
Aesthetic would trend towards plush, cozy, a little witchy but not goth, a little cottagecore but not cutesy, nature colors, natural lighting.
They often prefer passive hobbies like watching movies or playing games rather than arts and crafts, but some sneople find joy in interior design or gardening. When the weather is nice, many also engage in outdoor activities like rock climbing, swimming, fishing, or hiking.

what kind of movies do u think the dimi sisters would like?
Ooooh I’ve been waiting for this one! I’ve got some thoughts about this! Anyone feel free to let me know your thoughts as well, I’m very curious👀
Let’s get into it!
Masterlists
Bela
She prefers good books over movies on most days, really
She doesn’t care much for watching tv, or movies
However, there are some that take her pick. Some that could have her cuddle up in bed and watch for hours
Bela enjoys herself good documentaries. Mainly these are about topics that interest her, yet she doesn’t know all that much about
She watches documentaries on all kinds of things. Animals and wild life, wars and countries she’s never even heard of, food and historical events
Of course, Bela sucks up all she can learn from this eagerly
And at the dinner table, she wears a wide and proud smile as she tells her Mother all she’s learned
When she receives a kiss to the top of her head and is told what a smart girl she is, Bela beams for the remaining day and at least the following day
There is, however, another type of movie that picks her interest
One she would not admit she likes
One she is secretly embarrassed about, as she believes it’s for children
Bela is an extreme fan of fantasy movies. And her favorite?
Lord of the Rings and Hobbit
They’re her favorite movies, and are capable of capturing her attention at any point. She is a total fan, and has not only watched the movies countless times, but read all books as well
She knows quotes from the movies, and has just once “borrowed” Cassandra’s golden ring with yellow gemstones, purely because it was the closest thing to the ring of power found at the castle
She likes to believe it is, and that she can wield it
Watching these movies brings her immense comfort, yet she is completely embarrassed about them
She believes she shouldn’t be allowed to dream of faraway lands of fantasy worlds, of hobbits and elves, of gnomes and of dragons, of evil lords and tough knights
Still, whenever she watches it, her heart aches with the desire to pull her family into her room and watch it with them
She wonders; would they mock her? Perhaps not. But surely they would see her differently, no?
Ah, but she wants nothing more than to cuddle up on her mother’s spacious lap and receive gentle head scratches while her favorite scenes are on. To tell her all about the little details and the extra information given in the book
Or to pull Cassandra to her and explain the weapon types to her, hug her close and scratch her neck until her sister purrs and becomes engrossed in the movie. She sometimes fantasizes- what if her sister shared her passion for the movie? Could they- what is it called?- “gossip” about it? Could they have discussions about the character like Daniela has with some maidens about her books?
And of course, Bela would love to have her little sister with her as well. To keep her on her lap and prevent her energetic self from bouncing about the room like a restless bouncing ball, to point out her favorites scenes to her, knowing Daniela is quick to share a passion and get excited by what her sisters are excited about
Alas, she watches the movies all alone, huddled in a blanket with pillows for her family members surrounding her, and the movie on a low volume to avoid being found out
Cassandra
While hunting and “playing” with the maids remains some of her favorite activities, Cassandra can enjoy some good movies
She, of course, is uninterested in movie types her sisters might be fond of
Especially romance!
No, Cassandra can enjoy other types of movies however
Surprisingly, she shares her sister’s interest in documentaries. Only those that interest her, though
She likes to put one on about the human body or dissecting animals while she peels the flesh off her victim’s body, or merely when sharpening her weapons
She enjoys documentaries on the outside, too
Cassandra is so curious about it, she could spend hours getting lost in the world portrayed by the documentaries
There are rivers? Forests even larger than the one surrounding the castle? Deserts?!
She begs Alcina to watch them with her, to tell her whether all of this can really be true
Alcina gladly keeps her middle child tucked close to her as she reassures her, yes, deserts exist. Yes, snakes exist, yes, eagles exist
Often, Cassandra abandons her place in her mother’s side by rushing towards the tv/projector screen. She touches it, as though it would allow her to experience the outside for herself
With large eyes, she begs her mother to let her see such places of the world, and each time this is shot down with a sad smile
In time, Cassandra learns a little about the outside. Her favorite place is the amazon rainforest
Her least favorite is the north or south pole. Unsurprisingly, such cold places seem like hell to her
They are, for a time period, enough to scare her away from the mere thought of leaving the castle. The world just seemed so dangerous then
Aside from these documentaries, however, Cassandra enjoys different kind of movies- horror movies
She loves them gory rather than supernatural
Her favorites include the SAW series, terrifier movies, barbarian, and so on
She loves movies that can make her skin crawl. And often, in gory movies, she takes inspiration from them
She likes to copy moves seen in movies, done by psychotic killers
She even tries to recreate some of the traps in SAW!
However, when she put her own version of a reverse bear trap on Daniela, she was only met with crocodile tears and a month of not being allowed into the basement!
Her sister didn’t even feel anything! They’re flies! That’s why she had chosen her as her test subject! Not like her sister could truly get hurt by this!
Apparently, it was about the principle
No more experimenting on her sisters, apparently. Cassandra only shrugged when she agreed to this
Instead, she likes to test them on herself. She can’t get hurt by them, so long as they don’t involve heat, acid or the cold, and her laughter can be heard manically when one of her traps works out
She reserves them only for those who truly deserve them, those she wants to see suffer the most
When someone dares hurt her sisters, her flies buzz angrily and protectively, yet excitedly. These people always seem to beg for such treatment!
Who is she to deny them?
Daniela
Daniela doesn’t care for documentaries, not at all
And what movies does she care for? What movies does she love and treasure?
The answer is hardly surprising, I think
Romance
This little love bug can’t get enough of cliche romance movies, of finding love along the way or realising it has been by your side all along
She loves to watch them with her partner, of course, should she have one
Alternatively, she often asks one of her sisters or even mother to watch one with her. It’s her favorite type of movie, and Daniela doesn’t want to watch it alone
She’s very clingy, in nearly every way. She wants to be with someone when she watches her favorite movie!
And so Bela often abandons her work in favor of humoring her youngest sister, her arms around her snugglebug of a sister and her eyes rolling at the movie- not so subtly- every few minutes
Or when Cassandra sits with her sister, scowling at the movie and polishing her sickle while Daniela gushes over the characters
The redhead doesn’t mind that her sisters don’t share her love for romance movies
It means the world to her, though, when they still watch them with her. She gets so happy and excited, and quite proud to have such great sisters
Aside from romance, Daniela likes to watch whatever takes her pick- except documentaries, she hates those
She likes fantasy movies, or science fiction ones
Daniela likes Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park
Even when it has caused a time period of having to sleep in her one of her sisters’s, or mother’s bed because she would get constant nightmares of being eaten by dinosaurs
Eventually, these passed, much to everyone’s relief. Especially Cassandra would get quite upset at waking up to her blanket snatched from her and her sister occupying more than half of her spacious bed
Daniela likes to watch Disney movies, too. Her favorite is Beauty and the Beast, which she likes to watch every few months when she feels like it
She insists, Bela is the princess from the movie purely because of her name. Her sister disagrees with a scowl
Still, Daniela is convinced of this
After all, Bela reads a lot. And Bela is smart. And Bela can sing so beautifully! And Bela likes animals!
Once, she has brought her a live lycan as a gift. Her “Beast”.
She was, however only given a punishment of not being allowed to hunt for a week and having to clean up all the vases the animal has broken
And Bela wouldn’t even kiss it!
What a waste!
She was given to understand to bring no more “Beast” home for her sister, though Daniela is still convinced someday, Bela will find her love in the form of the Beast. She must!
Daniela however, is waiting patiently (well, not quite so patiently) for her princess or Prince Charming

Headcanons for Modern Aegon, Aemond, and Jace with a Nerdy S/O
TW: sexual references (in Aegon's lmao)
Jace
-Jace kind of LOVES the fact that you're a nerd!! he loves that you geek out over whatever comic book/lotr/Star Wars movie is coming out next even if he isn't really into them, only a casual fan
-you wanna go to the midnight premiere of the latest captain America movie? he's like HELL YEAH, LET'S DO IT BABE
-genuinely tries to take an interest in the stuff you're into because then you guys will have even more in common to talk about!!!
-he's literally so adorable when he doesn't understand something in the movie, he'll pause it and turn to you and ask you to explain it to him (sometimes he pretends not to understand because he loves seeing how passionate you are when you explain it to him lol sneaky sneaky boi)
-eventually, he gets just as into all of it as you are!! he actually really ends up liking DC comics and begs you to dress as batman and cat woman with him for halloween one year, and you're like okay just as long as it's not joker and Harley bc FUCKKK THAT
-he teases you a lot and calls you his cute lil nerd, but he's never mean about it like EVER, he fucking adores you and if someone else gives you shit about it?? Jace is a nice boy but he's gonna beat a bitch's ass if they give you a hard time
-he even gets you tickets to comic con one year and you go together, he doesn't really care about anything that's going on but he loves seeing you so excited about everything
Aegon
-this boy is an unapologetic NERD, he knows no one can give him shit for it, he's rich and popular, he doesn't have to pretend he don't like Star Wars or marvel or whatever, and if you're a nerd???? he's IN LOVE MAN
-Star Wars is his absolute favorite, like he is OBSESSED
-y'all have dressed as kylo/rey, ani/padme, han/leia, basically any Star Wars couple for halloween
-he even goes to Star Wars celebration every year, before y'all dated he'd go as Luke but now he's like HA I HAVE AN S/O I CAN DO THE CUTE COUPLES COSTUMES
-deadass OBSESSED with the mandalorian, y'all have rewatched that shit so often, you actually get a puppy together named grogu (sunfyre loves him!! cute lil family aww)
-aemond roasts the shit out of both of you he thinks you're so lame
-BOTH OF YOU SCREAMED AT THE SCREEN WHEN POE SAYS "SOMEHOW PALPATINE HAS RETURNED" YALL ARE LITERALLY SO MAD YOU WANNA KILL SOMEONE
-late night discussions about how it's kind of sketch that Leia "always knew" Luke was her brother and still made out with him...
-he digs Star Wars roleplay, like if you are into that he will propose right then and there honestly
-cried when Kenobi came out, I will take no arguments for that, he was full on ugly sobbing
Aemond
-likes to pretend he's too cool for all of this, doesn't make fun of you of course but when you find out he's secretly a tolkien/fantasy nerd??? he is sooooo fucking embarrassed but then it's like, hey! you guys can bond over this, it can be your thing!!
-he hated rings of power, y'all watched it and he just fucking ROASTED it the whole time, he's an LOTR loyalist, he was okay with the hobbit but the first one? despised it
-gets you a replica of Arwen's necklace tbh, even if he looks like Legolas he sees you guys as Arwen and Aragorn (Legolas never gets Tauriel, why does he have to be him anyway lmao)
-when he does dress as Legolas for halloween tho you are absolutely feral, he looks so mf good
-he sends you lotr/Harry Potter memes all the time and they're usually really weird and obscure but you love that he wants to share this with you and you do your best to understand them lmfao
-highkey feel like he loves pirates of the Caribbean as well!! he's an unironic Orlando bloom stan lmao but Elizabeth turner and Arwen were his first fictional crushes hehehe
-he love love loves the fact that you guys can geek out together over this stuff, for your anniversary, he wants to plan a trip to New Zealand so you can see where they filmed scenes for the shire and all of that, he's extra af
-he doesn't like making it a public thing though because he's a bit more insecure than aegon, he worries people will make fun of him for it, but if anyone so much as breathes in your direction that you're a nerd and means it in a bad way? nah they dead meat babe

back by popular demand, i have yet another strange LOTR headcanon post. i present to you all, a sequel to “the fellowship reacts to kombucha,” titled: “the fellowship’s starbucks orders.”
for context, just started my job as a starbucks barista about three months ago, and trying to figure out what drinks the fellowship would order has been at the forefront of my mind. i will be providing their opinion on coffee and then their starbucks order.
Tumblr media
aragorn: this bitch thrives off of black coffee, how else is he supposed to rule the kingdom of gondor?? he’s a dunedain, so while he probably limits his caffeine intake for health reasons, he definitely is the type to go into Starbucks and order a dark roast, black. and if there’s no dark roast brewed atm, then a hot americano.
Tumblr media
legolas: this man. this pretentious-ass elf, oh my god. no coffee for this woodland elf, although he seems like the type—he’s a tea-drinker, let’s be real. and although i think his soul would give out if he even dared to walk inside a starbucks, he would be the type to order a “medicine ball” unironically.
Tumblr media
gimli: obviously gimli is a coffee drinker, have we seen him?? he’s a coffee enjoyer, but not a snob—wherever he can get a cup, he’ll get some coffee, whether it be a local shop or a stbux. he’s definitely more drawn towards darker roasts, and i have an unexplainable feeling that gimli orders a venti cappuccino, extra dry, with an extra shot. he brings legolas with him, who rolls his eyes when gimli orders. hipster blonde tea drinker forced to go with his gruff coffee drinker boyfriend. they’re in love your honor
Tumblr media
gandalf: gandalf has to take care of four hobbits, an elf, a dwarf, and two men—all of which are temperamental and argue NONSTOP. his caffeine intake is unlike anything anyone has seen. coffee is not about the taste for him, therefore he has no specific “order.” if he needs a quad americano, he’ll get one. if he just needs a pike, he’ll get a pike. he has no shame. he has become a notable regular simply from the one time he ordered a ten shot latte—he also tips a LOT. he is adored by all the baristas, and they’re also probably scared of him
Tumblr media
boromir: he likes coffee, but he just kinda drinks whatever is available to him. he doesn’t have a caffeine addiction, but every daily starbucks run brings him closer to getting one. i feel like boromir is that guy who gets a salted caramel cream cold brew, or a red-eye. no in between. he probably gets an irish cream cold brew during the holidays.
Tumblr media
frodo: frodo…doesn’t love coffee. correction, book frodo LIVES off of coffee, but I think for movie frodo, coffee isn’t his favorite thing. he probably gets dragged to starbucks with merry and pippin once, and doesn’t know what to order, so he just goes for a hot chai tea latte. this starts an addiction, especially once he realizes that starbucks is a nice place to read and study. he’s always polite to the baristas and makes sure to tip extra, if he can spare it
Tumblr media
sam: bless his little gardener heart, he cannot afford starbucks. he definitely has a morning cup of coffee with cream to fuel his caffeine deficiency. if he joins frodo to hang, or is dragged along with the other hobbits, he’ll get just that. plain coffee with a splash of cream, nothing fancy for him. he also tips extra, and if frodo’s drink is made incorrectly, he huffs and puffs and politely asks the baristas to remake it. frodo insists they charge him, but sam and the baristas fight against this.
Tumblr media
merry: oh merry…(movie) merry likes to believe he enjoys coffee, but realizes very quickly that he only likes it when it’s covered up by the flavor of pure sugar. he cycles through quite a few regular drinks at starbucks, some of which include the mocha cookie crumble frappuccino, an iced white mocha with sweet cream cold foam and caramel drizzle, or maybe a hazelnut latte with two extra pumps (to cover up the bitter coffee, obviously).
Tumblr media
pippin: pippin does not like coffee. period. does he have a caffeine addiction? yeah, but his sugar addiction is probably worse. like merry, he has a handful of go-to drinks, depending on the weather, the day, his mood, etc. any of the creme based fraps, especially vanilla bean and strawberry, tickle his fancy. he also gets a strawberry acai lemonade with no inclusions (chunks don’t sit well with him), or occasionally a blended strawberry lemonade. he also buys an entire backpack full of pastries every time he goes, so he has a snack for the road, for home, for dinner, for dessert, for—

Summary; Yn is always taking care of the group, making sure they are hydrated, they've been eating enough and sleeping well.
Looking after everyone leaves barely any time for her own self-care. Eddie notices this and had to make sure his best girl gets the TLC she needs.
Warnings; fluff, bit of angst
Requested by @i-always-come-back-xoxo hope you enjoy
💞
As always yn was like the mother hen in the group. She loved to make sure her friends were comfortable and always made sure that they were eating right, staying hydrated and sleeping well.
She loved taking care of everyone and was always making snacks, keeping extra in her lunch in case someone forgot to bring something one day ( usually Max was the worst for this) and yn was always making sure that Max had snacks at hand.
Things had been tough for Max and anything she could do to help make the girl's life easier she would.
The only thing was in taking care of everybody else she would sometimes neglect herself in the process, she spent so much time worrying about her friends and not enough for herself.
Truthfully she was exhausted and had woken up this morning with a pounding headache and all the feelings of a cold.
She still went to school pushing through the aches and pains, hoping some fresh air would help with the cold. It would work right?
Wrong! No, she felt worse and by the time she reaches Hawkins high she kinda wished she stayed in bed.
💞💞
Eddie notices how quiet yn is and grows worried, she was a sweetheart and was always looking after the group.
She even looked after him, baking him treats to take home for him and his uncle Wayne, she always had extra lunch on hand and was constantly making sure that he was alright.
He wasn't used to someone caring so much about his well-being, except for Wayne. He liked it and over the months he had known her, he began to fall for her and he hadn't felt this way about anyone, he was smitten.
Something Henderson teased him relentlessly for.
So when he notices how withdrawn she is he immediately makes it his mission to cheer her up.
He heads over to her and frowns, she's shivering barely touching her food and she looks exhausted.
"Sweetheart? Are you alright?" She peers up half smiling.
"No, not really, I feel awful" it takes him all of two seconds to gently help her up.
"I'm driving you home," he tells her firmly and she makes a noise of protest and then gives in. Fuck, she really must be feeling shit if she has given in without a word.
"I need to make sure my best girl is feeling good okay" he tells her softly and the way she looks at him makes his heart skip a beat.
"Best girl?" her eyes light up and he can't resist placing a kiss on her head.
"I've not exactly been subtle about it princess, now come on. Let me take care of you for a change"
💞
Once she is at home Eddie practically orders her into bed, shes running a fever by this point but he ignores all of her protests to go.
"I don't want you to get sick Eds" he shrugs and gives her a huge glass of water and settles beside her.
"I don't give a shit about that babe, I'm going to make sure you are better then when you are we are going out to see a movie and go for milkshakes, whatever you want"
She perks up and feels her heart race.
"Like a date?"
"A date. Then I can make you mine like I've been dying to do for months now" he grins and she suddenly wishes this cold would go away so she could go on this date.
"You've had my heart since we first met sweetheart," he says as he holds her hand, if she wasn't sick then she would be doing a happy dance right about now.
"I feel the same way about you" his brown eyes warm at her confession and he smiles.
"I brought The Hobbit to read to you. Would you like that?" Listen to Eddie talk for hours? Do all the amazing character voices? Yes please.
"I'd love it" he pulls the book out of the bag he's carrying and then as he settles down he motions for her to cuddle into him which she does happily.
Then he begins to read to her and his voice is so soothing that she snuggles into him even more and falls into a peaceful sleep as she does she feels Eddie's lips press to her forehead.
"Sleep well my princess, I'll still be here when you get up" with that promise she falls asleep with a happy smile on her face.

(SA)
Frodo had been kind enough to let Antonio and Mirabel stay in the extra beds of Bags End until they either learned why they were truly brought to this land, or found a way home.
Mirabel sang at the pub, worked as a waitress at night and helped look after little ones during the day to help pay their way and for their things. Antonio got to run around and play with the other children.
And then...Then Gandalf was back in the night. And he looked afraid and half mad.
Mirabel had started packing supplies as soon as she saw his face. She made sure her mithril dress from Thorin was on properly with some regular clothing on top of it. And her enchanted shoes were on her feet, unfortunately she did not have a sword yet but she could use some knives until then.
Antonio was sleepy as he waited in a chair, trying not to doze off. She had put her old metal armor on him, it fit him rather well since he was about the same size she had been when she first came to Middle Earth if a bit taller. He too had no weapon.
Once Gandalf told them the gravity of the situation and that they must make haste at once Antonio and Mirabel helped Frodo and the roped in Samwise Gamgee pack supplies before they set out with a pony.
It was agreed that Antonio would ride stop the pony until he awoke properly and then they could take turns.
"I will meet you at the Inn of the Prancing Pony. I must seek out Sauroman. He is both wise and powerful." Gandalf said and Mirabel narrowed her eyes.
"Just be careful Gandalf I do not trust him. What should we do if you are not there when we arrive?" Mirabel asked as they continued to walk.
"...I shall be wary. If I am not there when you get there leave a message for me. And then take them to Rivendale Mirabel. Go to see Elrond. But be careful. The enemy has many spies. Birds. Beasts...if you see a Ranger named Strider then trust him. He will help you to safety." Mirabel nodded at the information.
"if the ring becomes too heavy Frodo then give it to Mirabel. She is more than what she appears and will do anything to keep you all safe." Gandalf said to the Hobbit who nodded but looked worried. After all he wasn't sure he wanted to endanger a young lass not even twenty winters who had a baby of not even five winters relying on her.
But...if Gandalf and Bilbo were right about her...
Well he saw her use the shoe on Merry and Pippin and on more than one drunken lot getting too into his drink.
Shoutout to Frodo for letting them stay⁉️⁉️ And shoutout to Mirabel for getting that bag 🤞🏾
YOOOOOO she’s so real for not touching Saruman tho. Like be so Fr, he was creepy even in the Hobbit 😭 I remember seeing him when I watch the movie for the first time as a little kid and. Being weirded out by his freakishly long nails. Seriously, cut those things or sumn 😭
Poor Antonio <3
