The Young Person’s Guide to Ben Johnston
Microfest MF 23 I’m guessing that my title has its origins in the Benjamin Britten piece, “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra”. That phrasing has been used by the likes of Phill Niblock and King Crimson to title retrospective compilation discs. While the disc under consideration here is not, strictly speaking, a retrospective it is a fine representation of the chamber music of the late…

Radio Faux Show Volume 2, Number 35 (September 25, 2022): The National Recording Registry Part One (Pre-1955)
This Week’s Theme: The National Recording Registry Part One (Pre-1955) This week we are taking a deep dive into the historical research aspect of the Radio Faux Show. This week’s show is best described as a collection of recordings rather than a playlist of songs because this week’s show is part one of a four-part show about the National Recording Registry. I have been planning this theme for…

sam kerr x reader
randomly just started to think about this scene in endgame
let me know what you think!
-grey
———
You love Marvel. One would consider you a Marvel nerd. Your girlfriend definitely does. In the three years you’ve been together, her Marvel knowledge is almost up to par with her football one.
You and Sam were having a relaxing day, coming down from the high of the world cup and her birthday. You’ve both already had dinner, now y cuddling on the couch watching, yet, another Marvel film, Avengers Endgame.
The familiar sound of the trumpet can be heard from the television, a house coming to view. Sam gets up from the couch, holding a hand out to you.
“May I have this dance?”
You couldn’t help the giddy smile that forms on your face, grabbing her hand, she pulls you off the couch. She pulls you close, your head resting on her chest, hers laid on top of yours, arms wrapped around each other, swaying to the music.
Never thought that you would be Standing here so close to me There’s so much I feel that I should say But words can wait until some other day
You lift your head off her chest, looking up at her, her looking down at you, into your eyes with nervousness.
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again
She leans down to kiss you with so much emotion and passion. You tear up, can’t even put into words how much you love her.
Pulling away from you, she gets down on one knee, holding out a small velvet box, a beautiful ring sat right in it.
“Marry me?”
Time seems to come to a stop. There were no other words she needed to say to convince you to answer the question. She shows her love to you every single day, even when she’s miles away for football.
Tears slide down you face, bottom lip trembling. Unable to get the words out, you nod, kneeling down to her. You hold Sam’s face with both your hands, kissing her.
“That’s a yes right?” She mumbled into your lips.
“Of course it is.”
Sliding the ring onto your finger, she kisses you once again.
It’s been a long, long time

@nashuriweek
Inspired by a tweet of TH in a grey suit and LW as Rosaline Otterbourne, and the song "It's Been a Long, Long Time" by Harry James and His Orchestra.
Wanted an intimate first meeting scene for a while now. 🙂🙃
Also, kudos to the wonderful reference picture I found of the pose.

Day Seven: Stripping (Steve Rogers x reader)
Tumblr media
Warnings: smut under the cut, nsfw, 18+, FemBodied, stripping, grinding. fluffy
Minors DNI
Words: 642
Steve Rogers was probably the most vanilla man she had ever been with. Nothing wrong with that, and it didn’t make her love him any less, but, it made it difficult to figure out how to make their time in the bedroom more interesting. It wasn’t until she made a snide comment about it to Bucky that she found out about his love for burlesque. So for their anniversary she went all out, she had scoured the internet for information on “the art of the strip tease.” She bought the vintage styled undergarments, spent the time mastering the makeup and hair. She was going to give him the night of his life.
“That was amazing Darling. Remind me to thank Tony for the recommendation on the restaurant when we see him and Pepper on Sunday.” Steve says as they walk into their Brooklyn apartment.
“I’m sure that will stroke his ego immensely,” She laughs.
“Well, yeah but what doesn’t exactly?”
“Fair.”
As they walk into the living room, she hits the button on the remote and music started to play. Steve smiles and takes her in to his arms as they sway to the music. She rest her head on his chest as they dance around the living room eventually leading him to the couch. She takes a step away from him and smiles sweetly.
“I have a surprise for you” she says with a gleeful grin.
“Oh?” He looks at her curiously, looking at her attire, the dress with the buttons all the way down, the victory rolls in her hair, the classic red lip. She looks like she just stepped out of a 1940’s femme fatal movie. He love it when she dresses like this, bringing him back to a simpler time. She turns the song to a familiar favorite, as the trumpets begin to play, she starts to unbutton the dress, slowly and sensually. His cheeks flush as he realizes what’s happening.
“Oh!” He looks at her mildly stunned as she continues to disrobe, reveling the black vintage styled undergarments. She had really gone all the way for this. He felt his bulge harden as he watched her.
Never thought that you would be, Standing here so close to me, there’s so much I feel that I should say, but words can wait until some other day…
As the lyrics began she starts to move her hips to the beat of the music her hands finally undoing the dress and sliding it down her shoulders as it puddles at her feet on the floor. The black lace and silk look divine on her. Her eyelids half closed in a seductive manner as she straddles his lap. His face a bright red as she does so. She leans in as she reaches behind her unclasping her bra.
“Happy anniversary baby.” She whispers into his ear as the bra joins the dress, his hands go to her breasts holding them gently, his rough hands on her succulent skin. She lets out a soft moan. His hands glide over her curves as she grinds into his hardened bulge.
“Dear god you’re perfect.” He moans as he touches her his eye filled with love and lust. She kisses him softly, lips pressed together as the song continues in the background. Her tongue slides over his bottom lip asking for entrance and he obliges. As their tongues dance together he holds her hips pushing her in rhythm to her movements bringing her down harder on the his crotch groaning slightly in pleasure. As they break the kiss they look into each other’s eyes, breathless.
“Bedroom?” She asks “Bedroom” he confirms as he lifts her. Her legs wrapped around his waist as he carries her into the bedroom, planning to thank her for his surprise in as many ways as he can come up with.

Like Real People Do
Written By: Hozier
Artist: Hozier
Released: 2014
Alternate version included: Live in America, 2015
This song is a metaphor. Hozier uses “bog bodies” in Ireland, bodies which are exhumed after centuries of natural mummification, to describe a new relationship.
[Verse 1] I had a thought, dear, however scary About that night, the bugs and the dirt Why were you digging? What did you bury Before those hands pulled me from the earth? [Chorus] I will not ask you where you came from I will not ask and neither should you Honey, just put your sweet lips on my lips We should just kiss like real people do [Verse 2] I knew that look, dear: eyes always seeking Was there in someone that dug long ago So I will not ask you why you were creeping In some sad way, I already know [Chorus] So I will not ask you where you came from I would not ask and neither would you Honey, just put your sweet lips on my lips We should just kiss like real people do [Chorus] I could not ask you where you came from I could not ask and neither could you Honey, just put your sweet lips on my lips We could just kiss like real people do

At Last
Written By: Henry Warren & Mack Gordon
Artist: Etta James
Released: 1960
Originally recorded by: Glenn Miller and His Orchestra feat. Pat Friday & John Payne, 1941
A song originally written in 1941 by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren and originally performed by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra for the 1941 movie Sun Valley Serenade, this ballad found its greatest success in the hands of the late Etta James in this 1960 recording. The tune became James' signature song. The song is featured on several “best of” lists, including inclusion in the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry and induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
[Verse 1] At last My love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song (Oh, yeah, yeah) [Verse 2] At last The skies above are blue My heart was wrapped up in clover The night I looked at you [Bridge] I found a dream that I could speak to A dream that I can call my own I found a thrill to press my cheek to A thrill that I've never known (Oh, yeah, yeah) [Verse 3] You smiled, you smiled Oh, and then the spell was cast And here we are in heaven For you are mine at last

It's Been a Long, Long Time
I I thought of this song while writing it so I had to add it in <;3
Pairing: Spencer x gn!reader
Content warnings: literally one swear and the rest is all tooth rotting fluff
Word count: 888
The kitchen in your and Spencer's shared apartment was filled with the aromas of one of his favorite foods. You had decided to make dinner that night to celebrate the end of a particularly long case, and his return. You looked over at the clock-6:15 pm. He was due to be home any minute now. You swayed your hips softly to the music in the background as you chopped and added various ingredients to the pan. Just then, you hear the familiar jingling of keys outside of the apartment. Your head snaps over as it opens slowly and you see a very exhausted Spencer Reid come into your vision. His curls were a little messy and his eyes were tired, yet when he saw you his whole demeanor seemed to change. He smiled and put his satchel down as you ran into his arms, kissing his cheek softly as you squeezed him.
“Hey, my love.” He says in a soft voice as he buries his face into the side of your neck. Almost as if he was taking you in for the first time.
“Hi, baby.” You respond, stroking his back slowly.
His hands stayed on your hips when you both broke away, he recognized the smell in the air and looked over your shoulder. His face softened and he smiled. You slip out of his grip and go back to what you were doing, stirring the almost-ready food. You gave yourself a mental pat on the back for timing it so well.
“I wanted to celebrate the end of such a big case for you.” You say sheepishly, a blush crossing your cheeks. He walks over to you and places his hands on your waist again from behind, kissing your temple.
“Thank you, sweetheart. I’m so lucky to have you.” You could just hear the smile in his voice even though you couldn’t see his face.
He watched you cook for a few moments until a song came over the kitchen speaker. Both of your faces lit up. This wasn’t just any song, this was your song. The song you both loved and cherished because it reminded you of the other. He softly spins you in his hands so that you’re facing him. You instinctively wrap your arms around his neck as he starts to sway the both of you. You stare up at his face with a loving gaze, your lips curved into a small smile. He leans in and gently kisses your forehead as you both begin to hum the tune of the song. In a moment of emotion, you pull his body into yours, his head resting on your shoulder as you slowly dance to the song. It felt like you were the only people in the world-nothing could ruin this moment. You always worried about him when he had to be away on cases. Your worried thoughts never seem to end.
Where is he now? Is he doing ok? Is the team ok? Is he safe? Will he be home soon?
Of course, you never vocalized these worries to Spencer when he was away. You never wanted to stress him out more or give him a reason to feel guilty. The apartment was usually so quiet, so empty, and lonely without him. You coveted these moments when he was home safe in your arms. The minute he walked through that door it felt as though the entire apartment warmed up, as though his presence could actually light up a room. As far as you were concerned, it did.
Your eyes were closed in an attempt to fully soak in the moment, but they were forced open when you smelled something. His head lifted at the same time as yours. Your eyes both wandered, wondering where it could be coming from. Then, you realize.
“Oh shit!” You exclaim, grabbing the pan off the stove where your excellently planned meal had burnt to a crisp. As you move it off the burner and turn the stove off, you look at him, a look of heartbreak on your face. He walks over to you with a sympathetic smile, taking your face in his hand and tilting your head to look up at him.
“I’m sorry, Spence.” You apologize, your voice soft as he strokes your cheeks with his thumbs.
He only kisses your forehead and looks down at you.
“Don’t be. I’m the one that distracted you. This still means a lot to me. Just being with you is all I could ever ask for.” His words reassure you, the smile returning to your face.
“Take out?” You say as he leans down to press a gentle kiss to your lips. He nods and pulls you into a hug.
“Whatever you want, darling.” You look up at him from your place squished against his chest. He laughs a little and tilts his head. “Come on. We have so much to catch up on, I’m sure.”
So with that, he leads you to the couch (not even for a second letting go of you). You both fall onto the couch, where you were presumably going to be spending the rest of the night, eating whatever takeout he wanted, and talking excitedly about what you both missed while apart.
And neither of you would change a thing.
