I was rewarded for my faith. Forget being disappointed, I LOVED every single second of today's episode. And I'm gonna take you for a swim to the deep end today, so get ready.
Ep. 1 1/4
From the very beginning, it's clear that there is a role reversal. (Loved the cute little doll in Gun's room.)
The selection of the school president is a satire, as explained in this post. I think it's also a representation of those schools where the teachers choose the council (i speak from personal experience), but I don't know if that is practised in any Thai school. I liked it nonetheless.
What really got me was that they actually created an Alternate Universe and didn't simply make a reflection of the original world just with roles reversed.
Ep. 1 2/4
That's twice I've heard "I'm not like the mothers in those drama series" in a BL drama series, and I enjoyed the context both times. [tell me in the tags if you know what's the other series I'm talking about ;)]
Jokes aside, this is also a reality check. Gun's mother in the original universe is not only forgiving but helps them escape as well. Unfortunately, not everyone is that lucky. Most mothers would scold the hell out of their children (ehm.. also from personal experience; just different contexts)
In this universe, the conflict is similar but not the same. While that universe focused more on the long term conflict of not being able to win (or even participate) in Hot Wave, here it focuses on the more immediate problem of their club closing down. Which makes sense considering the original had more time to cover and now they only have two episodes.
Also noticed the subtle reference to The Gifted series (most probably cause I'm watching it).
Poor Gun whining about his well-laid plans to get laid (read that as cuddle I just wanted to make a pun) with Tinn going down the drain in one surprising swoop.
To no one's surprise, the Umbrella™ (whether held by Tiw or Por) is well-loved in any universe.
I also liked the small little additions to their first meeting :D
And I'm sure I wasn't the only person with a mile wide yim (smile) during Imagi-Tinn and Gun's conversations with Gun's mom.
If I thought Tinn's reaction was funny, well, Gun just secured the permanent place on the top of my list :D
Nong Chinzhilla. Need I say more?
Nice to see Por's lack of filter and exquisite fashion sense exists in every universe. "Don't mind us, we're just nosy..." <- this is a reference to the original universe; this scene:
Tumblr media
And don't think I missed that little smile when Gun said to submit a love request when they were fighting for that pamphlet.
Ep. 1 3/4
"I didn't mean to kiss you." I was laughing so hard I had to pause the video, and mom looked at me weird like, 'she's finally lost that last little thread. It was about time.'
"I can ride this since I was born." And can't even wear the helmet.
Gun is flirty in every universe and Tinn is weak for it in every universe too.
Tinn's smile when Gun helps him with the helmet... you can not tell me he doesn't already like Gun at least a little bit.
[Unmute :D Do NOT repost; I'll do more than find you]
Winnie the Pooh being in love with Sound already; Tiw and Por flirting to the moon and back... what's new.
"I saw that." with that expression is by far one of my favourite SoundWin moments. Also one of the funniest.
SoundWin caught in the act of PDA: nah, we're just the best of frenemies :)
Gun when Tinn was hugging him: *dreamy look* all my dreams are coming true.
Ep. 1 4/4
Gun getting the perfect moment to confess and trying to do it:
Tinn: *snore*
I liked that dance played quite an important role in this. Also liked the reference To TiwPor in Prom Night: Live On Stage.
Tinn and Gun with matching hairbands >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Do NOT repost; I'll do more than find you]
What really got to me though, is that by doing this, they are validating every single fanfiction and headcanon out there, which is very surprising and nice of them.
The characters are not entirely different, they are just placed in different environments which affects their personalities.
Both Gun and Tinn still have that edge of boldness, but it's more prominent in Tinn while laced with trepidation in Gun.
Tiw still has that soft witty humour, Por still lacks a filter and has great taste and they're still disgustingly cheesy.
Win and Sound still fight, but they still help and love each other.
I also want to say that Fourth and Gemini are amazing actors and have played Gun and Tinn in both universes flawlessly.
What I also liked is that they're both whipped in any universe lol.
All in all, I'm enjoying my ride through the Multiverse of Cuteness to the fullest :D
____
Gods, i just wrote almost 1000 words of review 😭
My fingers are numb and due to all the other restrictions, ya'll will only get two videos and two pics tonight. If you want more, put in a request ;)

I started reading Middleman's Love because I'm almost finished with Triage and I have no self-control (I probably should have started with Bed Friend but it's like 16€ on Meb and apparently Middleman's Love comes first chronologically - at least in the novel universe).
And I love Jade so so much!
He claims that he's not prone to overthinking and then he goes and overthinks every. single. little. thing. He has opinions (tm) but he never voices them out loud because he's too kind. He's constantly broke because he overspends at the beginning of each month. But that's okay because at least he gets to keep the unwanted gifts he's constantly asked to deliver to Uea and King.
He's also completely clueless. He's so used to being ignored that being noticed doesn't even occur to him. He's fully internalised being invisible, and he doesn't even mind because obviously everyone else is good-looking and he should be smart enough to know his place.
So Mai looking at him with sparkling~ eyes is obviously because he wants to flirt with Uea through him.
Jade, you perfect little idiot!
I can't wait for the moment he realises Mai is actually flirting with him. That someone as utterly perfect as Mai wants a relationship with someone who drools in his sleep and can't hold a tune (but is also kind and funny and thoughtful).
But while I'm really happy that the series is still happening with Yim and Tutor (who I like a lot - they're probably my DMD faves right after Jimmy and Tommy), I can't help but wonder how Tommy and Jimmy would have been as Jade and Mai.
Because Tommy especially would have killed it as Jade.
Then again, who knows, maybe Yim will pull off Jade's inner snark just fine. And I'm actually really looking forward to see that side of him (and Jade).
Some other tidbits so far:
Jade knows King from school and Uea from university. They're both his best friends and they never got along - leaving Jade as the middleman. Uea's dark backstory seems to be the same as in the series.
In the novel, Mai is actually present at the karaoke party. He goes all in with the flirting but Jade dismisses it as him trying to get with Uea through him. Jade then plans to set things up so Mai will take Uea home (because he totally ships it) but both of them end up drunk so King takes care of Uea (like in the series) and Jade is left with a very handsy Mai who's conveniently forgotten where he lives.

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city of Liyue as Xiao prepared for a celebration unlike any he had ever experienced. It was not a festival or a battle he was gearing up for, but rather a more intimate affair—the celebration of your birthday.
Xiao, known for his stoic demeanor and dedication to his duties as a guardian, had taken a rare day off from his responsibilities. His heart, usually shrouded in shadows, now beat with a different rhythm as he prepared a surprise for you.
He had spent days contemplating the perfect gift and settled on a delicate hairpin adorned with a camellias—which symbolized his never ending love and adoration for you. As he held the gift in his hands, he couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness, an unfamiliar emotion that made his usually stern expression soften.
As the evening descended, Xiao made his way to Wangshu Inn, where you resided. Lanterns adorned the pathways, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of flowers. Xiao knocked gently on the door, his heart pounding in anticipation.
The door creaked open, revealing your surprised expression. "Xiao? What are you doing here?" you asked, eyes widening with curiosity.
Wordlessly, Xiao handed over the intricately crafted hairpin. "Happy birthday," he said in a soft, rare tone that held both sincerity and vulnerability.
He watches as your eyes lit up with joy as you accepted the gift. "Xiao, this is beautiful! Thank you," you exclaimed, a genuine smile playing on your lips.
The Yaksha nodded, his gaze fixed on the ground for a moment before meeting their eyes. "I...I also planned something else," he admitted, his usually composed demeanor wavering.
With that, Xiao guided you to a secluded spot near the inn, where he had arranged a surprise picnic under the starlit sky. Lanterns hung from nearby branches, casting a warm and inviting glow over the area. A blanket was spread out with an assortment of your favorite foods, and a bottle of fine Wangshu wine awaited you.
As you sat down together, Xiao's usually impassive features softened, and a hint of a smile graced his lips. The night was filled with laughter, shared stories, and the quiet acknowledgment of a love that transcended the battles and duties that defined Xiao's existence.
Underneath the moonlit sky, Xiao found solace in the simple joy of celebrating the person who had managed to pierce through the shadows that clung to his heart. And as you toasted to another year, Xiao realized that perhaps there was more to life than just duty—a lesson learned in the gentle glow of lanterns and the warmth of a lover's presence.
(did i search which flower meant what for this? yes yes i did)
heres what i had in mind for the hairpin btw (google is very helpful sometimes)

Multicultural Children’s Book Day
I was gifted the book Men of the 65th: The Borinqueneers of the Korean War! The book is being published by an imprint of Lerner books (www.lernerbooks.com). The book was researched by children’s author, Talia Aikens-Nunez whose previous publications include the OMG series. Men of the 65th: The Borinqueneers of the Korean War is a nonfiction chapter book. While war history is not really my favorite subject to read about, Aikens-Nunez does a great job of capturing your attention with a great introduction. The book is filled with great facts and maps at the beginning of each chapter. I love the inclusion of a glossary as well as a bibliography. While it was a struggle for me to read because of the topic, I really appreciated learning about a facet of history I was not super-familiar with before.
Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2023 (1/26/22) is in its 10th year! This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.
Ten years in, MCBD’s mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in homes and school bookshelves continues. Read about our Mission & History HERE.

As I wrote a haul post for last year, I may as well do the same for now.
Starting with: is it rude to write a haul post for gifts?
My lovely datemate Panda told me to wear “an outfit for garters.” Being ever prepared, as I am, I came with an outfit involving the last pair of garters he (completely platonically at the time) gave me, but apparently he had something else in mind:
Tumblr media
Anyway, I looked fantastic in these, as you can see from my latest posts.
I’ve been wanting a headchain for forever, and he got me this one to fulfill my dream of bounding as Opal:
Tumblr media
But even more touching are these very relevant-to-my-interests earrings that he made himself. I mean... <3 <3 <3
Tumblr media
But oh! Oh dear! It seems one pin is missing! Wherever could it be? Could it have joined this ever-growing collection of pins and patches on his own jacket so that we end up wearing matching Han and Leia pins like the incredibly dorky couple we are?
Tumblr media
Add to that some nail colors (conveniently similar to the bi flag nails I paint so very often),
Tumblr media
Some hair dye (he was the one who did my purple hair, and I’m super excited to start the school year with green),
Tumblr media
And all of it contained inside this beautiful colorful Beauty and the Beast bag (guess who’s my favorite princess)!
Tumblr media
Second, my delightful friend Amanda had a small trove for me as well. Starting with her personal favorite category of clothing: underwear. Which I shall not be modelling in this post.
Tumblr media
This skirt is a cute, high-waisted, nautical-ish look. I’ve really been on the hunt for high-waisted things lately (I have soooo many crop tops and no bottoms to wear them with?) so this was quite appreciated.
Tumblr media
This tank top is from @wickedclothes and speaks for itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, though most of my trips to the mall do not involve me spending money, I passed some cheap and pretty jewelry and I just had to treat myself.
Tumblr media
All these were 2 for $3.00 at Y I M Outfitters, a store at my local mall that’s always having sales and clearance events and whatnot.
Tumblr media
Some thrift bloggers really like these kinds of stores, but they’re not my favorite thing -- never thrifty enough, and always too fast fashion-y. But this price on trendy jewelry every once in a while... that’s all right with me.

ESOM 🌟 | Korean Actors 200
Esom’s charms stem from her unpredictable face. Her image alternates between a young girl and a mature woman and between being aloof and being confident. Her filmography is also diverse due to her mysterious image that cannot be defined in a word. In her early works, Esom often gave off a kitten-like cheerfulness and bouncy charm. In her debut film Second Half (2010) and Highheel (2014), the actor created interesting tension when working with male actors with her girlish yet fascinating impression.
After going through several genre films, including Hindsight (2011) and The Gifted Hands (2013), Esom made her presence felt in Scarlet Innocence (2014), directed by Yim Pilsung. In the movie, a reinterpretation of the Korean classic Simcheongjeon, Esom convincingly performed a transformation from an innocent rural lady to a revengeful femme fatale who was abandoned by her loved one. With the film, Esom won the Best Female Actress of the Year at the Directors’ Cut Awards.
