My favorite thing about Star Wars is the hilariously inconsistent descriptions of the force. Is it in us all? Is it magic? What is a midachlorian?! Who knows!! But, that silly lil monkey lizard in Jabba's palace is named Salacious B. Crumb, so there's that.

I will not be proofreading but Just so you know, I am constantly refraining from talking about the parallels between Ahsoka Tano and Starkiller. It is always on my mind. I have about 5 unfinished drafts of just actual fucking essays about them being complete mirror images of each other.
But I can never hope to verbalize everything I want to say, I’m simply obsessed and haunted by them. Two children created to answer the same question, “what if Anakin/Darth Vader did get to raise a child?” And what we get (completely unintentionally, mind you as the characters were initially developed relatively In tandem by completely separate sectors of Lucasfilm), is a case Anakin being this unorthodox but wonderful mentor. He is attentive, fixing her lightsabers and keeping them after she leaves the order in the hopes that when she comes back he knows he did all he could to protect her. He is specific, building training programs that are are ruthless and put Ahsoka against a literal firing squad, but lead to her being more combat ready than any other jedi.  He loves her with his entire heart and is even chastised for not being ready to give her up to the force if she dies one day. What this leads to is Vader desperately trying to find that again in Starkiller, but it just coming out wrong.
Vader bares Anakin’s same ruthlessness but sith cannot love, sith cannot grow. Anakin’s attentiveness turns into him hand crafting a droid with knowledge of every single enemy ( jedi or sith) that starkiller may face to train him to be prepared for anything, but then making its primary program to kill Starkiller, simply to keep him alert. His specificity turns into using Starkiller’s young and innocent love for Juno Eclipse as something torment him with, Vader knowing exactly how it feels to strike down the woman you love in a state of anger and confusion. His extreme care for Ahsoka and unwillingness to let her die turns into a violent possession of Starkiller in which he revives him again and again and again against his will.
Anakin’s training of Starkiller is a hollow perversion of the values he tried to instill in Ahsoka, and what results is two padawans who outgrow their master. Ahsoka outgrows Anakin because, while they share the same skepticisms about the Jedi order, Anakin will never leave. He is comfortable stewwing in his reservations and smiling at the council through gritted teeth, while Ahsoka is not. Starkiller outgrows Vader because he realizes, for as cruel, as menacing, as powerful as his master his, he will never betray Sideous like he promised he would. He will never reject the sith because he is too comfortable stewing in his regret and self-hatred, while Starkiller is not.

It’s mentioned in the costume description of the Heavy Training Gear that the outfit is ‘homemade’ by Starkiller, and that got me thinking. Are ALL of his outfits homemade?
Tumblr media
Is Darth Vader’s adopted son secret apprentice hunched over a sewing machine in the back of the Rogue Shadow, making his own slutty little outfits?
All of the outfits in The Force Unleashed 1 look pretty cobbled-together, and god DAMN are some of them intricate.
Tumblr media
Starkiller literally fabricated an entire bounty hunter disguise specifically to talk to Kota once, and then it just sits in his fucking closet forever.
Tumblr media
And then in Force Unleashed II, we get to Starkiller’s first chosen outfit in the game, and it’s this:
Tumblr media
If it was just the TIE pilot’s jacket, I would not bat an eye, but he fucking unzips it halfway EXCLUSIVELY as a fashion statement. He and luke both shop at the same fucking stores, is what I’m saying.
“Boy, are those the—”
“The Chanel boots? Yeah, Kota. They are.”
Anyways.
For the rest of the game we are clued into Clone Galen being a different person than Starkiller through one small clue: aesthetic sensibility.
Starkiller is all about the avant-garde, full theme commitment outfits. He exposes the nipples. He layers the robes. No half measures. He’s an auteur. He’s cutting-fucking-edge on the scene.
1138 is a practical technician, and all of his outfits are based around personal motifs rather than bold concepts. You will notice the prevalence of short sleeves in his collection. His pieces are all about adaptability in the field, rather than a shock opening. His use of Jar’Kai might also warrant this alteration sleeve length - fashion can unfortunately be flammable, after all.
The two both share a love of asymmetry, however, which pervades many of their works. 1138 has started sporting more ambidextrous designs, likely to better complement his evolved fighting style. Niman is, after all, the Moderation form - harmony and balance are important creatively in the costume as much as they are important for combat.
Where was I going with this?
