If you could design a Tenshinhan outfit, how would you go about it? He doesn't have much variety until the Buu saga but that's mainly cause he has a shirt that isn't a tank top.
i'm not going to even lie to you i know nothing about character design or especially fashion but im also not a quitter so ill make an attempt for you homie

Something I think about every now and then is Sora & Kairi's character development in relation to whether or not Kairi can fight. In KH1 Kairi wants to help find Riku and Mickey, but Sora insists she shouldn't. What's interesting is how she complies with what he tells her. Later throughout the series she tries to get involved in the fighting, particular in KH2, but is often barred from doing so or made to wait. In ReMind she finally gets to fight and Sora encourages and fights alongside her.
I bring this up because it's not something a lot of KH fans seem to talk about. How Sora basically discourages her at first and she does what he says, but a little over a year later she gets to do what she wants to do and he supports her.
Yeah, there's an interesting contrast to the moment in KH1 and to that of them working together in KH3. Though, it's a little too Sora vs. Kairi in what you're saying, no? In the perspective of her being involved, I mean, which I know that’s not what you really mean, but it’s a good chance to talk about it for those who do.
I wouldn't really paint the specifics as Sora spending any opportunity he can to discourage her from being involved until KH3. in KH1, Kairi not going with SDG back to Hollow Bastion just makes sense—from the perspective of likely everyone else who was even there to have a say, too. While the other Princesses of Heart were still there, throwing her back in the fire, as she is, would be a bit counterproductive as to why they were there and even left. It isn't just Sora telling her what to do, it just makes sense. But after KH1? It doesn't really happen at any other significant moment of her being told by Sora to not fight.
In KH2, I don't believe anyone particularly tries to get her to leave TWTNW, especially given Riku is the one to give her Destiny's Embrace in order to fight. She didn't really have other opportunities to join in the boss battles beyond that anyway, and if the narrative was trying to push that Kairi shouldn't have been involved at all, they would've written in for Sora to try and convince her to go back to Twilight Town or any other safe place BEFORE the final door is opened to go after Xemnas the first time. All that we get is a text-dialogue that you can speak to Kairi before going through the door, and she just mentions to not be told to wait anymore and that they'll follow each other. No one tried to exactly stop her or anything in KH2. And DDD, she wasn't the one who was called to take the Mastery test, so that didn't really happen there either.
MoM, yeah Riku tells her she isn't ready and she agrees, but unlike the moment in KH1, this actually has a purpose for her as a character.
Talking about Kairi's development, I don't particularly look at as her overcoming other people's safety nets. It's really just about her growing in her own capabilities and being able to showcase that. I often think about her story in relation to Gohan from DBZ—someone who had the build up of their true potential span over three different sagas in the story (and really into the Buu Saga as well, but I consider SSJ2 to be what really climaxes his growth story). Just like him, Kairi has so much latent potential and a powerful light, and the KH writers are really stretching out the build up of her reaching a point to where she's fully capable, if not to be an eventual Keyblade Master herself. I know everyone hates this in regards to Sora and Riku's development as fighters, but when I do think about it like Gohan's story, it makes me believe that the purposeful build up of Kairi's potential is for a significant reason. Otherwise, she'd just be another fighter like everyone else whose just ready to throw down constantly. Her being in this position of needing to train, at least to my hope, seems to be more than just getting her up to speed, which is what KH3 did on its own. I think this is for something greater given the writing.
Of course, I'm not sure if we'll get a moment of Kairi soloing a final boss or anything like Gohan (as no one really has, not even Sora), but the impression of her true potential being fulfilled is something I want to see, and training with Aqua will give us Kairi fans something, I hope.

Some thoughts on my last Gamefly rental, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Tumblr media
*Though most people are familiar with DBZ, especially the three main Sagas in this game, given how often they’re played out in games, I’ll put a spoiler warning here just in case. Also, I didn’t try out the DLC stories, yet, so this will just be about the base PS4 game with it’s current updates. I may buy the game and try those out in the future. I also say a lot about the game.
The game spans from the Saiyan Saga to the end of the Buu Saga(not counting DLC). Pretty much every important scene is played through, though a few parts are skimmed over or skipped, like:
Goku traveling Snake Way, his brief fall into Hell, and training with King Kai(shown a bit and mentioned but not playable)
Piccolo using Hellzone Grenade against Android 17(you can have him learn the move and do it yourself, though).
Future Trunks’ battle with Cell where he found out the speed-loss disadvantages of Super Saiyan Third Grade(that moment isn’t shown or mentioned, though he does still fight Cell in that form)
Vegito still attacking Super Buu after being turned into candy(which means we don’t get to see him beating Super Buu up as a high-speed jawbreaker). Also, Goku and Vegeta freeing everyone trapped inside Super Buu happens offscreen.
And possibly a few smaller moments. They aren’t too important in the long run, though, plus some were probably for better pacing or something.
There was some added stuff, too:
Several times, you’ll be able to meet, and occasionally do sidequests for, several older Dragon Ball characters, like Nam, Eighter and Launch.
A new fight for Goku against Kid Buu to end the main story before he launches the Super Spirit Bomb at him.
There's a fairly small amount of playable characters(who can also be put in a party as Support Members):
Goku
Gohan
Vegeta
Piccolo
Future Trunks(Android/Cell Saga and Epilogue, only)
Gotenks(only in two battles against Super Buu)
Vegito(in one battle against Super Buu, which, considering how powerful Vegito is, is more of an epic beatdown than a fight)
And a few characters that are support only:
Krillin
Tien
Yamcha
Chiaotzu
Goten
Kid Trunks
Android 18
All characters, Main and Support Only, have a ‘Super Attack Skill Tree’ that you can use Z Orbs that you find/earn to give them new skills and attacks. What you can get increases based on the character’s level and story progress(example, you can’t get Super Saiyan 2 for Gohan until he unlocks it during the fight with Perfect Cell).
Throughout the game, you’ll collect ‘Soul Emblems’ to place onto several ‘Community Boards’ to increase various ingame bonuses, like more EXP or cooking benefits. You get Soul Emblems both from the main story and side quests. They can be leveled up with Gifts to increase the Community Level, giving more bonuses. This seems to be the best setup for all of the emblems that I found.
At campfires and at Goku’s House, you can make food from items/materials you have to give yourself a stat boost. And Chi-Chi can be asked to make the party Full Course Meals at her home, which also increase the Base Stats of whoever eats them.
A certain filler episode from the original series where Goku and Piccolo are forced to get a Driver's License also happens in this game(though unfortunately without the outfits they wore in said episode). After doing so, you unlock the ability to make cars and battle walkers from Bulma, as well as Time Attacks for both types of vehicles(which I didn’t do much of).
Like the first Budokai game, this one has story’s events shown in cutscenes, which the later ones just had them happen in dialogue to speed things along, probably. And they did a really good job of animated said scenes, matching the look and feel of the series VERY closely.
The flying also feels well done, and true to the series. Aside from flying normally, which is fairly slow, you can hit L3 to start flying faster, at the cost of your Ki slowly going down and not being able to sense Ki with R1. This is the best way to travel the the large maps. Goku and Gohan can also use the Flying Nimbus, though you can’t pick up items that you need to hit Circle while doing so. Also, ramming into weaker enemies while flying will defeat them instantly and give you EXP. It’s a bit hard to aim yourself at enemies correctly, sometimes, though.
Going underwater functions the same as flying, except with an air meter to keep an eye on. If it runs out, you get kicked back above where you entered the water as the only penalty. Take a peek down under whatever bodies of water you find; there’s always stuff to see and collect, depending on the map, especially on maps with oceans.
You can also dash on the ground by hitting L3, and unlike when flying, you can still sense Ki while doing so.
I feel like this game’s flying controls are about what it should feel like for a Superman game. Probably might need a few tweaks to fit more with that series, but this feels like a good base for that kind of game.
The game’s many maps are pretty large, with lots to see and explore, including towns, caves that you need to be a certain level to enter, materials to gather, fishing spots, and more. They include plenty of well known DBZ locations, insulting Kame House(and the ocean around it), West City and Capsule Corp., Korin’s Tower and Kami’s Lookout, and so on.
Floating around these maps are enemies you can fight. They grow in strength as you do/the story progresses. If you’re strong enough and are fast-flying when running into an enemy, you’ll defeat it and gain EXP right away.
Speaking of Korin’s Tower, you can eventually unlock the ability to grow Senzu Beans there, which fully heal you. Once they’re unlocked, they will gradually grow and can be collected from Korin, with a Senzu Bean icon appearing next to it on the World Map if there’s any available. He will hold up to 9 at once, so check back once in a while.
Fishing is pretty easy to do; just hit one of the face buttons(X, Triangle, Square and Circle) when the marker is in a marked area, then hot one again when the closing circle is within another marked circle(this might make more sense when you see it yourself). You’ll get items for cooking from fishing, and some sidequests need them, or just certain types of fish, to clear. An amusing detail when fishing is that Goku and Gohan, even when he’s a teenager, use a fake tail as a lure while Vegeta and Piccolo fish like normal people(I forgot to check and see what Future Trunks does, but probably the latter).
After clearing the Frieza Saga, you can collect the Dragon Balls on Earth during Intermissions. They give off a small orange slow when sensing for Ki, and you’ll hear a low humming sound when you’re close to one. You can get several different wishes from them, with three of them always being for Z Orbs, Zeni or Rare Material Items. Other wishes are reviving certain dead characters to fight them again, and can only be done once, unlike the three listed above. At first, you can only make 1 wish at a time, but as the game goes on, it gets upgraded to 2 then 3 wishes at once. After making a wish(s), you ‘ll need to wait 20 ingame minutes before the Dragon Balls can be found and used again. They seems to have a couple set locations on whatever map they end up on(two locations are west of Orange/Satan City, for example).
Speaking of Mr. Satan...I know that his actually Japanese stage name, but I always end up calling him Hercule due to hearing that for so many years(and just liking how that sounds better). Also, ‘Satan City’ just sounds really funny. XD
You probably won’t need to really grind in the base game; you should get enough experience from doing sidequests and story events to get by. Gohan especially; he ended up quite a few more levels than everyone else just from the story EXP alone, and his Unleashed Potential ‘form’ from Elder Kai makes him do quite a lot more damage. Also, gained experience is shared among all party members, even those not currently set to fight.
One of the sidequests you can do throughout the game is defeating ‘Villainous Enemies’, who are fairly strong, and are covered in a red aura. You should at least be at or around their level before fighting them, since you can’t run from fights in this game. It may be best to do them during Intermissions when you can select your party members, and bringing someone who can stun with Solar Flare(like Krillin), can be really helpful.
In the epilogue/postgame, in addition to being able to play as Future Trunks(talk to him outside of Capsule Corp.), you can also use his time machine to redo Boss fights, and do any sidequests you may have missed.
The game’s opening has the old opening for the show, ‘Cha-La-Head-Cha-La”, and this is the first time I really listened to it. It’s really good, and kind of reminds me of the opening to Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, too, for some reason.
There’s a few parts where there’s some nice attention to the series’ details:
At several story points when Saiyan characters are healed, like with Senzu Beans or the healing pod on Namek, they gain experience, while others, like Krillin, don’t get that bonus, which does make them, admittedly accurately, start lagging behind in strength.
If you use Ki Sense on Androids, and a certain researcher in Capsule Corp., you won’t see anything emitting from them.
If you have Piccolo and/or Android 18 in your party while eating a Full Course Meal from Chi-Chi, they won’t eat any of it. Saiyan characters(again, forgot to check Future Trunks) eat it ravenously(even Vegeta), while human party members eat normally.
Only Goku and Gohan can use the Flying Numbus.
These aren’t really important observations, but some events in the game made me think:
Did Piccolo destroying the Moon to stop Gohan’s Great Ape form have any effects on Earth? Or did nothing really happen?
How in the world did Supreme Kai and Babidi survive being so close to Majin Vegeta when he used Final Explosion while Piccolo and Krillin hightailed it out of there with Goten and Kid Trunks?
I noticed a possible(intentional) goof at the end. In the cutscene after beating Kid Buu and going back to Kami’s Lookout to reunite with everyone, Dende is a kid again for some reason. Apparently, both the original anime and manga made this goof too, so maybe it’s a nod to that? It is kind of jarring, though. XD
A couple technical issues I found were that sometimes when loading a map, and in some battles later on, the game would hang for a couple seconds, and one time it crashed while it was loading into an area after traveling to another. Thank goodness for autosave. Also, be careful using the stronger version of Goku’s Spirit Bomb attacks; it caused major lag for me a couple times.
This ended up being one of my favorite DBZ games that I’ve played, close runners up including
Budokai 3
Budokai Tenkaichi 2(mainly for just how many characters that one has, including most of the movies from around that time, outmatched by Budokai Tenkaichi 3, which I didn’t play)
Legacy of Goku 2(I didn’t get the chance to play Buu’s Fury back then)
Next game being sent is: Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel

A Fandom Search!
Well Hello there. If you are reading this, you are either in the search for a new writing partner, or perhaps a little bit bored. Despite any reason, I do thank you for taking the time to read through this. As from the title, this is a Fandom partner search, and I will list those I am interested in writing. First, a few little things about myself/the way I write/writing/etc.
I live in EST; working a part time job as well, my replies will vary through the day. I will always try to get at least one, if not more (usually way more than one) in. If I will be quite a bit, I will try to inform you of such.
Being 21+, I am fine with Darker themes, but usually do not incorporate too much. I try to keep things SFW, to a degree. Nothing super sexual either.
I love to Double/write multiple characters. I have some experience Gming, if that would be a route we might want.
AU’s are fine, as a lot of my ideas, are basically AU’s for Fandoms. Though, if we want to write within Canon events, we can! Other themes and concepts all welcomed as well! From AU’s, to Time-line re-works/Canon Re-writes.
OOCC is welcomed and encouraged! Love bouncing ideas back and forth, and destress from a workday.
Canon characters please. There are exceptions and will mark so. Usually, I prefer my partner and myself stick with Canon Characters      That said, I am fine with adding our own little quirks/Head-canons to said Canon characters.
Anything else, feel free to ask!
Now onto the Fandoms I am searching to write within. Not in any order, as well. Along with any thought I may have; note they are not concrete and just thoughts. Could be used to work out ideas, or simple forgotten and we craft something from the ground up.
Power Rangers:  This is one of exceptions, when it comes to Canon. To a degree. IF we choose to craft our own team, than it will have to be OC’s. Though, I am also looking for a partner open to re-writing the Super Mega-Force season/story. As a Fan of the Source Material, I feel the show did not do it justice. Also, quite a fan of the 2017, movie. And, more than upset we will never see anything more from that Universe. So why not pick up where it left off? Continue to adapt MMPR plots and stuff, but into that Universe? A new Green Ranger? (The cast wanted a Female Tommi, so do I). Who stumbles across Rita’s coin?  :Plus, I hardcore Ship Trini and Kimberly from this Universe together, if we want that, as well.
Persona 5:
Canon characters, please as the main focus. OC’s can be used as foes the Thieves go up against. As for where/when we can set things? Totally open for AU’s. Perhaps, some side-stories and adventures. Or, even after the event of the Games. (I haven’t played Scramble Or Royal yet, so no spoilers there!) We can go Complete AU ideas- with Genderbending all the Thieves into Ladies. Or, Some story with an Redemption Arc with Akechi. Perhaps a spin on the game, with one of the other Characters is the Transfer student, and the main character. Perhaps just a slice of life spin with the Characters. (Though, that one might get a bit boring..)
Dragon Ball:  After playing, Kakarot, I was reminded how much I like Gohan. (….given how much of the game is played as him, rather than…you know….Kakarot…) Anywho. With that reminder, I was also reminded that the glory of being the hero of the Buu Saga is stolen from the poor lad. So, my first concept to build on, is a Re-write. A Re-write of the Buu Saga (and on-ward, if we wish). Basically, taking Goku and Vegeta out of the equation. They can still have their grudge match, and Buu being released. But from there, its up to their sons to save the day. We can give more focus to not only Gohan, Goten and Trunks, but Videl and others !I love Videl, so any chance to have her around more, yes please.
Of course, we could do a Bunch of What-if’s and build upon them; though the Buu Saga one is more appealing to me, right now.  Though, also a big fan of the Universe-6 Saiyans, so some tale with those three could be just as fun to me!
My Hero Academia:  I suppose I should note real quick: I have seen both Movies, and caught up currently with the Anime, of this writing. Though, I do not read the manga, but have a small bit of knowledge of events to come, and such.
But, that out of the way, the movie was pretty good. Very well animated and oooh the soundtrack.  For this Fandom, I don’t have a lot of concept thoughts. I did really like the character of Melissa Shield from the first movie, so maybe some story with her? Though, I think working with Canon characters (Expect one exploding Boy, as I don’t think I could write him, and kinda don’t care for him too much). Since I feel if I tried creating an OC within this world, it might jut be a slight rip off from another Fandom.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure:  Now, this could be either Canon or OC. We could go a OC Universe Route, since the Multiverse exists within Jojo, or play with characters we like. Create our own Jojo, and their companions going about their Bizarre Adventure.  I rather fancy Ceaser Zeppeli, Kakyoin, Trish Una, Giorno, DIO, Bruno and a few others from the Canon side of things. We could always go in a Eyes of Heaven, Route and have Timey whimey issues going on. Or, simple going about ‘What-If________Survived part______“ Type stories.
Kingdom Hearts:
I am all caught up, game wise. And, Re:Mind DLC is still kicking me in the dirt, with the Data Fights, but I am aware of the Yozora stuff, afterwards. Ideally, Canon for this Universe. I find most KH Oc’s….a bit cringe.  If I am being honest. There are a few things, I think a Re-write AU could do. Or, if we wish to just play with our favorite characters in some new setting, that is always an option. My Favorite Trio: The Sea-Salt Trio
Star Wars (Disney Overlords.):
So, I’m still not sure how I feel about: The Rise of Skywalker, and I suppose that’s alright. There are aspects I enjoy, but others I don’t. So, we could always attempt to Re-do that, or the whole Squeal Trilogy, if we want to dive into such.  I also like the idea of a AU, dealing with the Inferno Squad members, from Battlefront II EA, where they stay as loyal Bodies of the Empire.  The Clone Wars, are such a vast open time period, why not dive into that War, and see what stories occur?  There’s also old concept art from one of the many scraped games, that we could use as inspiration, to write about.  I don’t know too much about Legends, so working within the Canon Disney has established, might be a bit easier for me. But, if we really want to dive into Old Republic type stuff, I am not against it, just might need to do some research.
That’s all for now. Again, these are just thoughts and random spits of words. More than open to build something from the ground up, within any of these Fandoms. Plus, this isn’t a full list either. A few others exists, that I could write with! if interested, feel free to ask!
Here is another smaller list of other Fandoms, that I don't have much experience writing with, but are also on the table: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya| Fire Emblem: Three Houses| Sword Art Online/Gun Gale Online| Pokemon (Games)| Space Dandy| The MCU| The Arrow-verse|  My Email, as I find it easier to start off with but if we want to move else where after that is more than fine, is: [email protected]
Thanks for reading!

Dragon Ball Z 287
Tumblr media
Hey, remember Kid Buu?  Well he’s dead!   And there was much rejoicing.  Not sure Namek is a great place to have a celebration.   They probably just drink water and smile a lot.
Tumblr media
King Yemma celebrates by turning over his desk.  That’s like the third TV set he’s had since this whole thing started.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, back on Earth, Piccolo and.... wait, you guys were on the Lookout in the last episode.   There was a whole scene where Piccolo told the boys to meet him there, and then Videl had this cute reunion with Gohan.   Now they’re back here?  I’m starting to think this cartoon about magic dragons and super karate may not be entirely consistent.
Tumblr media
On the Supreme Kai Planet, Goku’s worn out.  He’s had a rough few days.
Tumblr media
Mr. Satan informs the people of Earth that Buu is definitely dead, and the crowd goes wild.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Videl’s a little embrassed by the way everyone gives him the credit for this, but at least she knows he’s okay.
Tumblr media
Bulma shouts “Vegeta, I love you!” when she hears the news.   Awwwwwww.
Tumblr media
So the Kais and Dende teleport back to the Supreme Kai Planet to clean up.  While the Kais take stock of the damage to their planet, Dende heals Goku and Vegeta.   Goku asks him to help Vegeta first, since he took a worse beating.   It’s always weird for me to see Dende healing Vegeta in this scene, because of how reluctant he was to do it back in the Frieza Saga.
Tumblr media
Then Bee runs off and leads Mr. Satan to Majin Buu.   The fat one, I mean.    Turns out he’s hurt, but he’s still alive.
Tumblr media
Satan pleads for Dende to heal him, but Vegeta threatens to destroy him instead, and demands that Satan move out of the way.   Satan tries to defend Buu, explaining that this one’s not such a bad guy, and that he’ll see to it that no one pisses him off enough to cause him to spawn another Kid Buu or whatever happened last time. Geets ain’t buying it, though, but Satan won’t stand aside, and Vegeta doesn’t seem to want to shoot them both.
Tumblr media
Finally, Goku weighs in and reminds Vegeta of how these two helped them in the previous few episodes.  He figures that’s worth sparing Fat Buu, and if he ever does cause trouble in the future, well, that’s good incentive for them to train.
Tumblr media
Kibitoshin isn’t sold on this idea, since everyone on Earth is terrified of Majin Buu.  In particular this fat version, which was the only one most people ever saw.  Goku suggests that Buu just stay indoors for a few months until the Dragon Balls are active again.    Then, he’ll just ask Shenron to erase everyone’s memories of Majin Buu, and that’ll fix everything!  The Elder Kai disapproves of using the Dragon Balls again, and Vegeta washes his hands of the whole mess, but neither of them objects enough to stop it.
Tumblr media
So they all go back to Earth.  Kibitoshin drops them all off on the Lookout...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...And everyone gets welcomed home by their families.   Oh, and Videl has a dog now.
Tumblr media
Also, a roomate.
Tumblr media
I love how Vegeta is just exhausted with this whole thing.    “Yeah, we let him live, because we’re idiots.”
Tumblr media
I also like how Trunks is ready to throw down.
Tumblr media
But Goku explains the whole thing to them, and I guess it’s cool.
Tumblr media
Then Goku explains how the Elder Kai gave him a new life, so he’s going to live with his family again.   Awwwww...
Tumblr media
Later, Goku makes the wish to have everyone forget Majin Buu.    Earlier, it was established that this wish would have to wait until four months had passed, but in this episode it’s six.   I have no idea why.
I’m also not sure how Goku phrased the wish.   I assume he wanted the main cast to remember Buu, but I don’t know how you summarize that.  Maybe he just wrote down everyone’s names that he thought would want to remember.   On the other hand, it’s not like Chi-Chi desperately wants to remember that it was Buu who turned her into an egg.  If he left her off the list, who would know or care?
Tumblr media
So the rest of this episode takes place after that wish is made.   Buu’s just strolling through West City, having a good ol’ time, and then he sees a kid eating an ice cream cone.  She won’t share, but she does point out where he can get his own damn cone.
Tumblr media
Buu goes in an orders a scoop of everything.  Maybe I’m a square, but I like the cones.   I wouldn’t say they’re the best part, but I don’t really see the point in getting just one cone for like twenty scoops.   Just get twenty cones.
Tumblr media
Trouble is, Buu’s got no money.  At first he gets pissed, but then he remembers how Mr. Satan told him not to lose his temper.    Was that all he had to do?
Tumblr media
So Buu wanders around trying to find a solution to this problem, until he comes across a street fighter challenging bystanders to fight him for a big cash prize.  It’s basically the same gag as when Goku did it in Episode 43 of Dragon Ball.    Buu is reluctant at first, because Satan told him not to fight, but the guy tells him it’s just a game, and someone else pays his admission, and Buu wins with one hit.
Tumblr media
So Buu goes back to the ice cream parlor and boom, he’s got like twenty cones.   See, he took my advice.
Tumblr media
Something I’ve noticed about these last few episodes since they revived the population.    It seems like they’re drawing a lot more sexy ladies in these crowds.  The bar’s kind of low for “sexy ladies” in a Dragon Ball cartoon, but this lady on the right is posing pretty sedctively while she drinks her lemon ice.  Also, they keep using her on this same shot of the parlor.   So she was drink that thing the first time Buu went in, and she’s still drinking it after he left, came back, and left again.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Buu just chillaxes in the park eating ice cream.    My man takes him time on that last one too.
Tumblr media
Also, he shared one with these pigeons.   Or doves.   Whatever.  I know he dropped that one for them to eat because Buu wouldn’t think twice about licking it up off the ground.
Tumblr media
Then Bulma shows up.  I don’t know why she’s buying groceries all by herself, but okay.
Tumblr media
I dig this scene a lot, because you’d never expect these two to spend any time together, but here they are.   Apparently Vegeta was supposed to go with her, but he ditched her to train, and then Buu wandered off by himself too.
Tumblr media
Then she goes jewelry shopping, and Buu thinks the jewelry doesn’t look very tasty.
Tumblr media
Then two guys try to hold up the place, and it’s the same guys Buu beat for all their money.   I guess they got desperate pretty fast.
Tumblr media
When they realize Buu’s in the store, they panic and shoot him.
Tumblr media
But he flicks the bullet back at them, and they decide to surrender.

Outside, Gohan and Videl show up as Great Saiyaman 1 and 2, but the crooks turn themselves in before they can finish their posing.   So I’m not sure if Toei was planning this bit all along, and that’s why they worked it into Movie 13, or if they came up with it as something for Videl to do in Movie 13, and decided to carry it over into this episode.  Either way, I think these are the only two appearances of Videl as Great Saiyaman Mark 2, or Great Saiyawoman, oe what have you.   I want to say she used the costume again in Dragon Ball GT, but I’m pretty sure the whole point of that was that she dug it out of her closet years after retiring the character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I gotta say, I wasn’t looking forward to this episode, but now that I’ve watched it again, it’s really great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back at Goku’s house, he’s horsing around with the boys in their tub...
Tumblr media
Then they fuse to turn the tables on him....
Tumblr media
And he turns Super Saiyan to even the playing field.  Only it blows up the tub.
Tumblr media
Gohan’s like, “No, it’s okay, Videl.   Take a good long look at my dad’s ass.    You’ll be seeing it a lot from here on, so you might as well get used to it.”
Tumblr media
I guess everybody came over to have dinner with the Son family, so Chi-Chi’s kind of pissed that Gotenks and Goku are running around nude.
Tumblr media
Also, Vegeta’s here.

i have feelings
so my magical girl au fanfic/way of dealing with depressing feelings is hitting me hard when my mind thinks of the moment when...essentially, the Sixth Ranger decides to accept the power to be a magical girl. And right now that character had just gone through a major bout of depression which literally made her turn to evil and fight the heroes. She got redeemed and took steps to improve her life, but...
Imagine, near the final battle, the heroes who she knows are getting their ass kicked, and then she finds out she has the power to transform and help them. The transformation device is basically sitting there right in front of her.
And my mind wonders if she’d be hesitant.
It reminded me of something that happened in real life.
When I was younger, I used to play these little imaginary games with my younger cousin. Nothing too weird. Us pretending we have powers or the stuffed toys we’re playing with have powers.
The way it tended to go, though, was that my cousin was the one with all the coolest powers, and I was normally the one who didn’t *do* as much but was acting like the voice of reason and stopping him from getting over his head. And, you know. Trying to make the narrative make more sense.
There was this one time I remember we were playing, and I had this little running gag going on that in that situation I was basically bitter over having none of the magical powers. But in a joking way.
But then there was a situation where my cousin realised the power he had right now could pretty much create anything out of thin air and it’s related to the main character of Scribblenauts and we were kids addicted to our DSs, and so he could basically just *will* me into having powers, too.
And I remember having that fact in front of me, I suddenly didn’t want it.
Why didn’t I want it?
I think the rationalisation I had back then was it was too *easy*. If I was going to get power, it would have to be from some kind of struggle, or putting my life on the line not expecting a reward. Not because someone just gave it to me because I said I wanted it.
(It’s probably why Ultimate Gohan in the Buu Saga rubs me the wrong way sometimes. He gets his ‘true power’ unlocked by doing nothing.)
But I feel like there have been moments where something I really want is right there in front of me, and I’ve chosen not to grab it. Because...I’m embarrassed? I don’t think I deserve it? Or I think someone else deserves it more than me, and I don’t want to take that opportunity from them?
Or is it because I think I’m going to fail somehow?
It’s like, I see everything in the future with strings attached. I’ve heard so much that life doesn’t come easy, that if something I want does seem to come easy, I feel like I’m doing it wrong. Or it’s going to show its dark side eventually.
Is it stopping me from genuinely enjoying myself? Or from accepting my own competence?
I wish I could feel competent in more than just the ability to discuss Dragon Ball on the internet. And even then that can dip.
Power fantasies hit me so hard because I feel so powerless in my own life. I’ve never felt like I’ve taken control of my own actions and decisions and fully committed to that.
And you know who also haven’t done that? Children.
Maybe that’s it. Adolescent power fantasies are about people learning to detach themselves from the everyday structure deciding their lives. It’s about them getting independence. And self-actualisation. While also being able to fly and shoot laser beams.
If I write more, I may start crying.
I just need a plan. A plan over what I’m going to do, how I’m going to be what I want to be, and what I want to be in the first place.
I want to be an independent, cool person so badly I want to scream.

Dragon Ball Super Chapter 39 Thoughts
So, Dragon Ball is the kind of story that started screwing with my suspension of disbelief fairly early on.
It all started with the King Piccolo stuff, when said villain spit out an egg from a hole in his stomach and it came to another turning point when Shenlong was able to revive Goku to fight the Saiyans.
The former is obvious - Toriyama clearly didn't have any obvious plans how to continue the story and the egg spitting was a last minute choice, if it wasn't, he would've had set this plot point up in advance by showing King Piccolo had another egg stored away somewhere, but that wasn't the case. It's the first really obvious indicator that this story was not planned at all. There were some iffy moments prior to that, but this was the place I kinda got the idea "oh yeah, he's definitely making it up as he goes along."
The latter is a problem because it was basically established that Vegeta and Nappa are so much more powerful than Kami that the dragon has no power to affect them. The problem here is that Goku equally passed Kami in terms of power, especially after his training with King Kai, yet unlike Vegeta and Nappa, he could be effected by the dragon (be revived). It basically said Toriyama could make Shenlong do whatever he wants regardless of previously established rules.
So that shifted my perspective to "whatever happens is fine as long as it does something interesting with the characters and makes a exciting story out of it that keeps me guessing".
Naturally I cared for none of this when I was a kid, but in hindsight I think these aren't very good storytelling choices because of what they signified in terms of how the storytelling would evolve. But they don't bother me so much as to completely not feel the story anymore because I found the results to be interesting enough and especially the second detail can pretty easily slip under the radar considering how there are many different details that are important to consider with the Dragon Balls. Y'know, maybe the dragon only considers some sort of magical potential, maybe the power difference has to be really overwhelming or maybe revival is in a different bracket from actually affecting the target. You can wiggle out of it somewhat.
In light of all the convinient rises of power and powerups in later story arcs (looking at you, Buu), this seems relatively minor and in the most tl;dr way to put it, they didn’t really bother me enough to ruin the enjoyment of the story. Choose a story and if you think hard enough you can find plot holes in it, plotting is just one part of a story and I’d argue even one of the least important parts in some ways.
Anyway, what I want to say with this long preface is that the manga version of Dragon Ball Super finally broke my suspension of disbelief for the story.
Yes, the anime stretches it, too and the whole original series stretches it a whole lot, but the appropriate explanations and assumed narrative reasons still helped to keep the whole thing at bay for me.
So, the big thing in this chapter is obviously Roshi pulling a Ultra Instinct look-a-like technique out of nowhere and even dodging and affecting Jiren in some way. The story doesn't give any explanations of how he learned to do this - nothing like him mentioning that he had been secretly training more now, which you could even potentially tie into Roshi feeling helpless at the end of the Saiyan saga, it just happens.
Tumblr media
The idea it wants to convey does tie into some of Roshi teachings of technique trumping power and learning to move insinctively, something I actually really like, but because Ultra Instinct was established to be a technique of the gods, the difference between the levels of training ruins the whole thing. I think it's a stretch that this time around is too big.
But okay, you could still kinda wiggle around it if you really wanted to; I really do think the idea of technique trumping power is great and I give no crap about power levels.
What truly annoys me is how Goku's character is handled here. Roshi chides Goku for forgetting the very basics of his training. This would be alright drama if it had sufficent tension and setup to it. I think the intention is clearly for Roshi to be a reminder to him in a tough situation, to call him back to his senses so to say, but it just doesn't make sense because of Goku's characterization so far.
He learned that technique/smarts is better than power a long time ago and he has been using it constantly since he did - the cool Kamehameha he did with his feet against Piccolo Jr, the strategy against Raditz, his fight with Freeza, all the technique usage against Cell and Buu.
Tumblr media
(This makes no sense to fall back to at this point, especially since the Freeza and Vegeta fights did not just ultimately involve power ONLY, either. The fights had plenty of technique usage.)
Tumblr media
You could argue that the intention is again, to be a reminder to him, with the implication that he’s been focusing too much on just training his strength up and not much else, but even in the context of Super, his fight with Botamo and Hit were about figuring their abilities out, he easily picked up the Hakai technique and mastered SSJB by appropriate Ki control. Putting him through this lesson again here feels really forced, just some way to get Goku into Ultra Instinct.
Speaking of which, I think Ultra Instinct sucks, too. It feels just like a random powerup with no impact whatsoever. Goku sort of just gets it after thinking for a second. He isn't pushed in any way shape or form and the buildup is minimal.
The point here is supposed to be that he just briefly tapped into it and that it’s above all a technique, not a powerup, but even a new technique should have at least some impact or special framing when it's first used. The hints should be exciting and make people curious, but I feel like this achieved none of that.
Tumblr media
Next, backtracking a little, I feel like Gohan vs Kefla isn’t all that good of a fight.
Firstly, Gohan's power jump, even with his established potential seems really nonsensical. A Potara fusion is established to be incredibly powerful, something far above unfused characters and Kale, only one part of the fusion, faced a Super Saiyan Blue in the previous chapters. The only hint we have of training for Gohan is him training by himself and training a little bit with Piccolo. The former is such a footnote it appears in a extra mini chapter.
Again, I can look past the wierd power stuff (power levels have been nonsense for a long time if you think about them even a little bit), but Gohan has had very minimal characterization, his training has had no buildup whatsoever and this fight itself is barely a few pages long on it's own. There is no impact to any of this whatsoever, and I think it’s a pretty good example of the problem with telling more, rather than actually showing.
Tumblr media
In addition to that, while I like Gohan relying on his "human strength" with the Ultimate ability, he still does it with the same arrogant shtick as in the Buu arc, something I don't really care about unless it's done to build a character arc, something the manga hasn't really done.
The erasure of U6 is also weightless despite having the side characters we most care about. Like most stuff in this chapter, it just happens.
I initially also didn't really like how Kefla and Beerus were handled and I still don't for different reasons now, but they are at least consistent in terms of their portrayal.
Caulifla was willing to give up pretty easily in the manga when facing Cabba, which is where Kefla giving up came from.
Beerus doesn't have as much of his serious side at display in the manga - he doesn’t have all that many moments of intimidation or thoughfulness. So, they are consistent, but not all that interesting characters to me.
This is one of my least favorite manga chapters in recent memory among all the stuff I follow, which is why I had to make a longer post picking it apart.
I think it has a few interesting ideas going for it, but it doesn't execute anything it sets out to do right to me.
Nothing stews or builds, characterization isn't interesting and my suspension of disbelief is gone. Maybe some explanations can and will be given in hindsight in the next chapter, but I feel like how everything is executed, it wouldn't help much.
On the other hand, I did pick up the manga again. Not for good reasons, but I did and I am genuinely curious to where this goes as the increasingly nonsensical mess it is at this point.

The Character Defence: Broly
In the few years that I have been a Dragon Ball Z fan, I’ve grown to love so much of it. But there is a trend that occurs in every fandom and in truth, every person. The constant battles and bickering about characters. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and clearly this is mine but I’ve seen some tremendous hate for him but I’m going to put forward a defence of Broly.
1) Broly is Non-Canon. For the Dragon Ball community, canon has been a shifty thing. A general consensus seems to point to one solid conclusion: If Toriyama didn’t write it, it’s non-canon. This is to help ease over fans who try to fight over this particular point and hopefully this closes that particular wound: Your love for a character is your love. It may not matter if it belongs within the cannonical storyline but no one can take away the joy you have about your favorite character(s).
I personally love the Super Saiyan 4 transformation from GT. I love the design and everything about it and I readily accept that it’s not part of canon. I accept it because in the end, it doesn’t diminish the love I have for the form itself and Broly not being in canon shouldn’t make you love him less.
2) Broly is too OP. This is almost a joke at Dragon Ball itself. The premise of the show follows Goku & co battling enemies far stronger than any enemy before. If they weren’t, it would get boring really quickly. But Broly seems to reserve a special kind of resentment and confusion in this regard. To the best of my knowledge, he is currently the only character confirmed to be a galaxy buster by an on screen demonstration. By comparison, the villain that would make the most sense in terms of what characters that were present for a scale would be Cell (based on the appearance of Future Trunks and Pre-Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. It most likely would be placed during the ten day wait for the Cell games if established in mainstream canon)
Now already this sounds like I’m reiterating old facts that everyone knows but I do so for a good reason. It’s been expressed multiple times throughout the series, in particular the Tournament of Power, that a Saiyan has every capability of surpassing their current limits. (Spoilers) Vegeta expresses this himself to Belmod in the ToP when Goku is going for his final battle against Jiren when he achieves Ultra Instinct again.
What should also be common knowledge is the Zenkai boost ability. A quick recap: Zenkai boost is what a Saiyan gets when placed near death and then allowed to recover. Best example is during the Frieza Saga after Goku heals in the medical pod. It allows the Saiyan’s power to rise exponentially at a near 33% rate (based on Vegeta’s power level Pre-Recoome and Post-Recoome) on average though it could vary.
A Saiyan’s ability to surpass limits coupled with a near death power boost is how Broly could have gotten so strong. After all, it’s quite clear that throughout his childhood, Paragus was less than exceptional as a father and used Broly as more of a tool than anything, most likely leading to quite a few Zenkai boosts before the events of the first movie.
Long Story Short: A rough childhood along side his Saiyan genes could easily mean Broly attained his power by simply living through numerous harships.
3) Broly is 1-Dimensional. A fairly common complaint but an important one to him. Broly was born (in movie canon) at the same time as Goku. Goku was quite the fussy kid, meaning that Broly never could really rest easily. Have you heard a baby scream without stopping? But beyond the constant screaming, it’s also the day Broly gets stabbed in the chest and when Planet Vegeta is destroyed. Broly endured a lot of trauma, more than people give him credit for. Of course he’s going to associate everything negative in his life with Goku. His earliest memories were hearing him scream, being stabbed and nearly dying in a planet wide explosion.
Remeber how I said Paragus was a particularly bad father? He also had a hand to play. Paragus would have used Broly’s exceptionally high power level to his advantage and would no doubt use him like a weapon. Broly’s only interaction prior to the movie was casually destroying and killing at his father’s behest.
Without a doubt if Broly had received a similar up bringing to Goku, he would be radically different. While he would still associate his near death to Goku, it wouldn’t consume him. It would more so just make him give Goku the cold shoulder at best and maybe hostile remarks at worst, rather than a direct murder attempt. Being treated like a weapon and being forced to fight no doubt left him with a mental state that though such acts of violence would get him praised and allow him to get attention.
Long Story Short: A bad childhood followed by worse parenting are to blame for Broly’s mental state rather than lazy writing.
4) Broly went out like a sucker. He did but upon some thought, it would make sense. Where Goku punched him at the end of the first movie was also where he was stabbed as a child. In a way, it’s an almost tragic poetic flaw; his first wound that nearly killed him would later be the wound that almost kills him again. Upon watching the battle he has with the Z-Fighters, he has no other weak points. He took a full powered Kamehameha point blank for fun but that’s because the blast hit a wide area rather than a focused point.
If you want to bring up the Special Beam Canon and it’s piercing properties, this is where I stop you. Even if Piccolo wanted to use it, he wouldn’t have the time to charge it. Most of the battle is Broly trashing the rest of the fighters with almost no effort on his part. Even if Piccolo did charge it and it was fired, it’s doubtful that he would aim for that ONE spot. Piccolo never knew about it in the first place and would most likely aim for a different area such as the upper chest ala Raditz, the heart or perhaps even the head. But we’ve also seen the attack being deflected, notably during the battle between Piccolo and Imperfect Cell. Who’s to say Broly couldn’t deflect it similarly?
5) Broly mistook Goten for Goku. (Spoilers) For those that don’t know, Broly survives the events of his first movie and arrives on earth in the second. There he is frozen (for what the movie guide describes as several years) until his is awoken by Goten crying near by. When Broly goes under, the events of the battle are entierly fresh in his mind. So much so that his is in a state of flight-or-fight because of his near death. He is awoken by the sounds of crying, crying that reminds him all too vividly of his own traumatic childhood and he simply wants it to end. The last thin he really sees is Goku’s face (before he blows up, escapes in a pod and makes his way to earth?) and since Goten is an almost exact carbon copy of him, Broly simply lashes out with animalistic insinct.
His near death and sudden awakening from his traumatic past hitting him again throws what rational thought he has out as he wants to SURVIVE. In his mind, killing Goten (Goku by extension) would end that torment for him. The last thing from his past would be laid to rest and he could relax.
That brings us back to his mental state. He’s fine when he encounters everyone else. I dare say he even smiles when he is introduced to everyone. But upon seeing Goku (Goten by extension after a few years), his thoughts of peace are shattered as the one trigger that brings back all the torment he’s endured stares him in the face. He simply seems to exhibit a very violent survival reflex.
6) Why was Broly almost killed? Less of a complaint and more of a good question. Broly was born with a power level of 10,000. King Vegeta at the time was barely above that. No doubt the king gave it consideration as to using Broly. But what would happen if one day Broly didn’t want to take orders from the king? What could he do against a warrior who’s power would ecplipse his own once he became an adult?
Had King Vegeta not ordered his death, Broly may have even grown strong enough to challenge Frieza long before Goku would have, beating the tyrant and becoming the greatest warrior ever known. Dragon Ball could be a whole lot different with that train of thought.
7) Broly one shots too many characters. This basically ties into my “Broly is too OP” argument. But lets go a bit further into detail by comparing his fight with the Z-Fighters against them vs Cell. Cell (Perfect and Super Perfect) took the likes of Future Trunks, Vegeta, Goku and Gohan to beat, easily the most powerful characters at the time. But during that fight, each fighter worked individually or as a tag team in some cases to bring down Cell.
Broly functioned in a very similar fashion for most of it. But where they diverge is how they ended. Cell was beaten by a Super Saiyan 2 Gohan after an intense beam struggle. Broly was beaten by four fighters (Gohan, Trunks, Piccolo and Vegeta) channeling their power into Goku who then beat Broly. That is the final nail in the coffin for this argument.
Gohan during the fight received no ki transfers from the other fighters and barely beat Cell during the beam struggle. Goku on the other hand took noticeable leaps in power with each ki transfer. Pre-Vegeta boost Goku almost punched directly through Broly’s ki barrier, meaning that there was very little difference remaining. After receiving Vegeta’s power, Goku was finally strong enough to push through Broly’s ki and strike him, ending the events of the first movie. The difference is simple for this comparison: Gohan worked alone as a Super Saiyan 2 and barely won while Goku received energy from four other fighters and ended the lengthy battle with one strike.
Why does this matter? Because it gives us a scale. In the main canon, Buu was the only one held to a similar power level. He tore apart planets left and right and while not explicitly seen trashing galaxies (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here or at any point), it is heavily implied he did. Broly direclty showed us his power by trashing a galaxy in the beginning of his movie, giving us a clear indicator to his power. Compared to Cell who COULD reach similar heights but never did, it’s pretty easy to see why he can trash around other characters so easily. I won’t say he’s stronger than Buu who took a Super Saiyan 3 Goku to kill while Broly was handled by a Super Saiyan Goku with four fighters, it’s pretty easy to see how he is able to beat most other fighters.
All in all, Broly receives a bit more flak than he actually deserves. He’s a character who went through a lot of suffering very early on in his life and rather than be given the chance to move on and recover, he was used as a weapon and treated as such for most of his life. He is a powerful individual in the Dragon Ball universe that is a very serious contender on the villain roster. Had he been given a better up bringing, Dragon ball would be very different and would see him as the most powerful player on the character roster. Canon or not, Broly has made quite the impact on the fandom as a whole and certainly deserved his spotlight in the games and movies. In the end, he’s an example of what even Goku could have been if he received a Saiyan upbringing instead of his earthling one. Also, apologies if there are spelling mistakes throughout.

Looks like the Supreme Kai wasn’t the only one who was cowardice. I feel horrible using this precious boy (he is amazing and special in his own way and I love him dearly!), but his actions give justification as to why the Supreme Kai may have acted the way he did during the Majin Buu saga.
If anyone remembers, Vegeta feared Frieza. He vowed he would not confront him until he was granted immortality. This was because Vegeta believed that immortality was the only way to defeat Frieza, or possibly, a Super Saiyan. Not being granted immortality, Vegeta knew he didn’t stand a chance, and thus, stayed out of the battle until Frieza showed his final form; only after Vegeta had become stronger and believed he was a Super Saiyan, did he enter the fight; however, this doesn’t change the fact that he did run away and cower! (I don’t blame him, for Frieza terrifies me!) Vegeta feared Frieza so much that he even tried to run away from him! Shocker, right? While Piccolo/ Nail, Gohan, and Krillin stood their ground, Vegeta stood in the background and watched, and when the situation got worse, he attempted to flee (but to no avail, of course). Hard to believe since Vegeta is very prideful, cocky, and narcissistic, no? He never runs away from a fight, right? Well, he did. He even warned the others over and over again about Frieza’s power and told them countless times not to anger Frieza, but they didn’t listen and this caused Frieza to reveal each one of his transformations–making the situation far more disastrous. No one listens to Vegeta, right? Maybe they should have just this one time. Should I also mention that Vegeta feared Frieza so much that he couldn’t hold back his tears? (Ugh! My poor baby had to face humiliation!)
This was the first time Vegeta ever cowered before an enemy! And this was simply because Vegeta knew of Frieza’s power! Frieza was the most powerful enemy in the universe at the time! He was pure evil! Everyone in the universe feared Frieza; Vegeta was no exception. In all actuality, Vegeta had doubted himself! This was because Vegeta was well aware that no one stood a chance against Frieza and he was right! Gohan and Krillin didn’t stand a chance, Piccolo’s fusion with Nail wasn’t enough, he himself couldn’t do it even after Krillin had struck him and Dende had revived him, and Goku even struggled greatly to defeat him. If Goku hadn’t reached the level of a Super Saiyan, Frieza would have destroyed Namek, Earth, and the rest of the universe (not necessarily, but at the time, this was what everyone believed)! Thus, my point is that when one is confronted by ultimate evil, they become helpless and are bound by fear.
Should I also mention Future Trunks and his fear of the androids? He tried countless times to stop Vegeta from letting Dr. Gero release the androids, out of fear! But, Vegeta didn’t listen and just called him a coward! And, just as Trunks had feared, they were released. His fear grew as time had changed itself and he could no longer predict what was in store for the world where the Z Fighters were still alive. Thus, Trunks begged everyone to wait for Goku so that they all could fight together, for he strongly believed that was the only chance they had in defeating the androids! He knew that the world where his father was still alive would be destroyed if the androids were released, and did everything he could to stop it from happening! Does that make him a coward? I don’t think so! Trunks knew how strong the androids were because of the trauma he faced in his world and tried everything he could to prevent the worst from happening! He is another perfect example, but I will not get into that; for, that will only make this post longer and I have already said too much. And, I assume you get my point.
So, think again when you bash the Supreme Kai and call him a coward! He acted no different from Vegeta. They both feared an evil being that was far stronger than they–which is perfectly normal! And need I remind you, Majin Buu was pure evil–merciless–and insanely strong–much stronger than Frieza. The Supreme Kai knew this, yet no one listened to him–just as no one listened to Vegeta at the time! True, the Supreme Kai said he could wipe out Frieza with a finger; therefore, many believe he should not have struggled with Majin Buu. But you’re wrong! During the Frieza saga, everyone was much weaker then. Frieza was not a threat to the whole universe like Majin Buu, because he could be defeated by a greater power (e.g. the Supreme Kai)! Frieza was nothing compared to Majin Buu. This doesn’t necessarily mean the Supreme Kai was weak; he just wasn’t strong enough to defeat Majin Buu and he knew it (just as Vegeta was strong, but not strong enough to defeat Frieza!)! Majin Buu’s power was out of this world and the Supreme Kai knew better and tried everything he could to prevent Babidi from releasing him! If the others had just listened to him, no one would have died! (Of course there would be no story had Majin Buu not been revived; thus, the Supreme Kai’s actions were relevant)!
And for those who said the Supreme Kai feared Pui Pui and Yakon, well, he didn’t. He could easily beat those two! He was simply concerned for Vegeta, Goku, and Gohan’s lives, for mortals tend to have very low power levels! If you remember correctly, he did not know how strong the Saiyans were and was concerned that they would have difficulty and thus, recommended they fight together! He also could not risk losing them, for he needed their help to fight Babidi and Dabura–to whom they would have to face eventually–and Majin Buu, if he were released! Thus, he had thought it would be best to reserve everyone’s energy. The Supreme Kai openly admitted that he was not aware of a Saiyan’s strength! After he had witnessed their power, the Supreme Kai grew more confident when he confronted Babidi and Dabura (alongside Gohan)! Yes, the Supreme Kai said Dabura was a challenge, but he never said he could not be defeated! He only mentioned that they may have to work together to defeat him, but that was because Dabura was ruler of the Demon World! And, not only was he a powerful foe, but he was controlled by Babidi, whom had awakened his sleeping power (we all saw what Babidi did to Vegeta; Vegeta had finally defeated Goku!)! When Babidi controls someone, he makes them stronger!
The Supreme Kai knew Dabura was strong and, thus, took precautions! He witnessed Gohan’s struggle and did not want to be hasty; he was not cowering, he was just being cautious and thinking of a plan! He saw how Dabura was toying with Gohan; Dabura didn’t even break a sweat! This is because Dabura was supposedly stronger than Super Saiyan 2 Gohan–to whom the Supreme Kai was able to hold down and paralyze! This means the Supreme Kai would be able to fight Dabura with just as much a chance as Gohan did (meaning he could easily defeat Pui Pui and Yakon!). The Supreme Kai was even going to take on Babidi himself and have Gohan finish his battle with Dabura because he had faith in Gohan after witnessing Gohan’s Kamehameha wave; he knew they could have a winning chance, if only Buu hadn’t hatched--so, how is he cowardice, if he was going to fight?! Yes, he thought it was best to flee and retrieve the others during the hatching, but that was because there would be a higher chance of defeating Buu. How is this wrong? He was right. Buu could not be defeated! Need I also remind you, even after Buu had hatched, the Supreme Kai stayed and fought his best to protect Gohan! He didn’t leave Gohan behind! How was he weak and cowardice if he fought and remained on the battlefield to protect Gohan? I have to say, for not being a fighter, the Supreme Kai did very well against Majin Buu! Heck, even Dabura and Majin Vegeta lost (and everyone else who attempted to fight him!)! At least the Supreme Kai didn’t turn into a cookie like Dabura! The Supreme Kai definitely put up more of a fight than Dabura and lasted a lot longer than he did! However, Vegeta definitely wins this fight for me. He tried his very best! He was definitely a martyr! (I love you Vegeta!!!)
Anyway… we all know that Saiyans are fighters and get stronger after each battle–after every bit of damage that is inflicted on them, their power increases tenfold! So those of you who are comparing the Supreme Kai to them are impudent! Saiyans are clearly the strongest race–stronger than the Gods! Beerus could not even believe their strength!
Alright… I clearly got carried away… so, let me just make my point clear. All of these beautiful characters have faced fear and tried their very best to conquer it–whether they failed or not, they all tried! Thus, the Supreme Kai should not have to face this burden alone! In all actuality, he should not have to face it at all, since it is entirely Beerus’ fault for not being there and doing his job! So please stop the hate! Thank you!

The Derailed Date
"So, Goku…" Chichi trailed off as she hung the last sheet up to dry on the clotheslines. "We have the house to ourselves all evening. What do you want to do today?"
I shrugged.
Gohan decided to go spend the hot summer day with Videl and Goten left for a sleepover with Trunks soon after Gohan. It really had been a long time since we were truly alone in the house together.
Chichi folded the last piece of dry laundry into the basket and carried it inside. But not before throwing me that look – the one with her eyebrow slightly raised and wearing a small smile and her teeth tugging lightly on her lower lip.
I swallowed, a little bit of heat flooding my cheeks as I followed her inside and upstairs to our room where she proceeded to sort the clean laundry into stacks for each of us. When she was through with that, she gave me orders to put each stack of the boys' laundry on their beds for them to put away when they returned.
That gave me a little time to think of something to do for her. Just the day prior, I had sold another huge load of vegetables to the local market and came home with a lot of money.
When she opened that envelope, a huge smile lit up her face and before I could blink, she was on her tiptoes, pressing her lips against mine, but for only a brief moment since the boys were watching.
Her good mood carried into the next day and I was determined not to destroy it.
We had the money. Maybe a night out was a safe bet – even though she didn't normally like having money spent on her. But sometimes she'd make an exception.
She hummed a happy tune while she dusted some pictures on our dresser and headed downstairs to dust the rest of the house.
"What do you think of going out tonight, Chichi?"
She stopped dusting and turned toward me with an eyebrow raised. "Out?"
I squirmed on the spot. "Well… yeah. I was thinking we could get dinner…?"
Her skeptical look brightened into that same smile she wore when she opened that envelope. "That would be lovely, Goku! I'll call that new sushi restaurant and make reservations."
She kissed my cheek as she breezed past me and carried on with her dusting.
Before I knew it, it was early evening and time to get ready. Chichi liked it when I wore something other than my gi so I pulled on jeans, a black button up shirt, and black tennis shoes, leaving Chichi to get ready alone.
About an hour later, she finally came down stairs. And my jaw dropped.
Her hair was half down, half up and tumbling over her shoulders in glossy, loose curls that covered the thin straps of the ice-blue dress that ended just above her knees. She was a little bit taller all of a sudden and I looked down at her feet to see strappy, light pink high heels.
She giggled and waved a hand in front of my face. "Ready, Goku?"
I swallowed and nodded as she left a quick note for the boys on a side table. We stepped out into the warm air of early evening.
"COME TO ME, FLYING NIMBUS!"
Funny. My voice broke a little bit there. Probably something to do with the way she looked.
A moment later, the little yellow cloud zoomed in for a landing, stopping neatly right in front of us.
I helped Chichi get comfy and hopped on in front of her so she wouldn't get cold. It was a warm night, but Nimbus liked to fly high. Sure enough, she leaned into my back and sighed contentedly.
My face heated up a little bit.
We flew in silence toward Satan City, seeing the first distant lights after only about forty-five minutes. We flew in low over the outskirts and Chichi shifted so her chin rested on my shoulder.
"We should land here, Goku. The restaurant is close and I don't want to make a scene."
I agreed and moments later, our feet touched cement and I waved Nimbus off.
I glanced up and down the mostly empty street. One direction marked the entrance to a quiet neighborhood, the other brightly lit and bustling with activity. Chichi took off at a fast walk toward the bright lights and loud noises of the city and I kept pace behind.
A block or so down the road, she pointed across the street at a fancy looking sushi restaurant. We crossed the street and stepped inside where the hostess greeted us with a smile and took us to a table for two.
Flipping through the wide selection in the menu, the restaurant obviously specialized in sushi but had all kinds of other stuff, too. Including a very yummy looking teriyaki plate.
Chichi looked at me with an eyebrow raised. "Let me guess. You're going to order everything."
I chuckled. "How'd ya know?"
She peeked at me over the top of her menu, dark eyes crinkling. "I'm your wife. I know everything."
I laughed again.
Our server walked up to us with a smile. "Welcome! What can I get you to drink this evening? Miss?"
"Iced tea, please," she said.
"And you, sir?"
I glanced up at him. "Make that two. Thanks."
The server jotted down our drinks on his pad and left.
I looked around at the expensive looking decorations while Chichi flipped through the menu once more and set it down.
"What are you getting, Chichi?"
She smiled at me. "Sushi."
A moment later, the server returned balancing a tray on one hand with two glasses of iced tea.
He handed one to each of us, set the tray down on an empty table next to ours, and took out his notepad. "Have you both made your selections?"
Chichi nodded with a polite smile and placed her order and handed her menu to the server who then looked at me. "And what would you like, sir?"
"The teriyaki plate–" I ran my finger down the list "–plus all of this, please."
The server looked baffled, to say the least.
"Seriously. I want all of this," I repeated.
His eyes grew wide. "But… sir… that would feed a table of…" He trailed off, factoring everything together and continued, "At least eight!"
I chuckled as I handed my menu to him. "Yeah. I know."
He tucked it under his arm and frantically scribbled in the rest of my order in his book, and walked away shaking his head.
Chichi raised an eyebrow. "Eating lightly, I see."
I shrugged. "Guess so. I'll eat all that and see if I still want some more later."
She shook her head and sipped her tea.
About ten minutes later, the food began arriving. Chichi's colorful sushi plate was placed in front of her first and then my teriyaki plate was placed in front of me, a line of servers delivering the rest of my order and piling it on a larger table next to us. I supposed it was lucky they weren't very busy that night.
In the time it took Chichi to eat what she wanted of her sushi plate, I was starting on my fourth course, a very fancy looking sushi plate of my own. She passed me her leftovers and I grinned at her.
She giggled and shook her head.
It wasn't long after that I finished off the last plate and decided I'd had enough. I wasn't stuffed, not like I'd normally be at home with her cooking. I was just satisfied.
The server returned and handed me the check – and it was then I noticed the small crowd of slightly frazzled looking restaurant staff standing off to the side and watching us with wide eyes. "Um… here you are, sir. Is there anything else I can get either of you tonight?"
Chichi shook her head and smiled at him. "No, thank you. We're quite finished."
They all looked relieved.
I paid our bill – Chichi reminding me to tip them – and we left.
I glanced down at her as we walked deeper into the city. "So… now what?"
"Well, why don't we walk around a little bit and see what we see? I'd like to do a little bit of shopping, too."
I shrugged and nodded.
I followed Chichi as she zipped in and out of bright and colorful storefronts, constantly adding to the growing stack of boxes and bags in my arms – while I was still trying to figure out how her feet weren't killing her from all that walking in those shoes.
After a long while – and the umpteenth store – she yawned and checked the time. "Oh, it's getting late. Let's go home."
I nodded. "Okay. I'll be right back. I gotta go pee."
She frowned. "Goku! You can't just announce that!"
But she followed me to some public restrooms where I stacked our stuff out front and rushed in.
While washing my hands, the hair on the back of my neck stood on end and my senses instinctively reached out for Chichi. Her energy spiked and I ran out of the bathroom to find her in a ready stance and surrounded by five huge thugs.
Skimming their minds, I bared my teeth at the horrendous thoughts they had about her and at their lust and anticipation. The unspeakable things they imagined doing to her made Master Roshi look like the picture of innocence. The only outward signs of their intentions for her were their sickening smiles and how they ogled her like she was a piece of meat.
My hands clenched into fists and a low growl slipped out before I could stop it.
I had half a mind to jump in and rip them a new one before they had any chance of attacking her just for so much as thinking about her like that.
But Chichi looked focused and confident. It was her confidence and skill – and their sloppy postures – that held me back.
They had maybe three minutes. Tops.
I grinned. No one had noticed me so I ducked into the shadows.
And then – on some unspoken signal – they lunged for her and she bounded into the air, sailing over their heads, their outstretched hands grasping at empty air before they collided with heavy thuds as Chichi landed lightly a short distance away.
The thugs disentangled themselves and stared around, confused.
She kicked off her shoes with quick flicks of her ankles and crossed her arms. "Come on, boys. Get it together, now."
One pointed at her. "There she is!"
Chichi's taunting smirk as she slid into another stance several strides away from them had my heart racing.
They charged like so many angry bulls and Chichi just looked bored. She shook her head and darted forward, taking them all by surprise with her superior speed and agility, hair fluttering about wildly behind her as quick, powerful blows landed hard in their guts, using their own momentum against them. The one furthest back in the group saw her coming and cocked his fist. But Chichi's finely honed reflexes kicked in and she went down, shooting a leg out and tripping him up.
And once again, all five goons were a confused tangle of limbs on the sidewalk as she brushed loose strands of hair out of her face.
I wiped away the bits of sweat beading on my forehead with the back of my hand. Nights got cooler. Not hotter. I undid a button on my shirt as the biggest of them all recovered first and charged her, his eyes burning with murderous rage and hatred.
Chichi took several steps back and took a quick, calculating glance around, her eyes flashing when her fingers met the solid brick wall behind her.
Her hand went to her mouth in mock fear. "Oh, no! I'm trapped! What's a woman to do?"
I bit back my chuckle as the thug grinned wolfishly and kicked in a burst of speed, sure he had her cornered. But she was ready. With perfect timing, she sidestepped him, grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, and pivoted, driving him into and through the brick wall with every ounce of her weight adding to his momentum. Chunks of brick flew everywhere.
He was down for the count and I cut off my cheer by biting down on my fist.
Chichi smirked, tossed her hair over her shoulder, and motioned for the others. "Next!"
Only, their attention was no longer on her.
I followed their gazes, catching a glint of metal from a pitch-black alley. I locked onto Chichi's energy as the bang reverberated through the area and plucked the bullet out of the air. Chichi gasped after the fact as I let the bullet fall harmlessly to the ground and I jumped to the shooter's location, snatching the gun out of his hand.
Clenching my fist, I crushed it into an indistinguishable ball of metal – the only hint of what it was being the tang of gunpowder and the acrid bite of singed metal hanging in the air around it. I turned my attention to the gunman, whose blood drained out of his face, his eyes wide as I handed the hunk of metal back to him.
"Y-you-you're not human… are you…?" he stuttered.
I smirked and shook my head. "As a matter of fact, no, I'm not."
And then – holding back because I didn't want to kill the guy – I knocked him out and threw him at his friends. The group scattered, ditching their downed comrade as they took off in five different directions.
I raised an eyebrow and jumped to each one, knocking them unconscious one at a time, too. I gathered their limp bodies and threw them in an unceremonious dog pile next to their friend and placed myself right back at Chichi's side.
The thugs taken care of, I grinned at her.
She glared at me – her arms crossed and her left eyebrow twitching away, a vein pulsating in her forehead. "I know you've been watching me."
Busted.
I winced. "B-but… you had it under control. They weren't any match for you! And I even stopped that bullet!"
Her eyes narrowed further.
I swallowed, grasping around for something to say that wouldn't set her off. The fight replayed in my head – along with the way she expertly used the one huge goon's weight and momentum against him.
I grinned and winked at her. "You were incredible, babe!"
Her frowned softened just a little bit as she whipped out a handkerchief and pressed herself into me. "Ugh, Goku… you're drooling." She reached up to wipe it across my mouth at the same time I put an arm around her and slid it down to her backside.
She glared at me again, so I kissed her.
When I pulled back, her frown melted away into a little smirk, her cheeks slightly flushed.
I released her. "Let's go home."
I hollered for Nimbus, gathered our stuff, and took off.
Chichi moved out into our yard lit only by the dim light from the windows. She motioned for me to join her, and shifted into a stance.
I grinned, my heart galloping wildly in my chest and settled into a stance a few steps in front of her. "You may have brought down those thugs easily but you'll never touch me, babe."
She raised an eyebrow. "We'll see about that."
And then she surged forward, long hair flowing behind her, eyes focused and calculating, knife hands shooting for the crook of my neck. I hopped backwards, easily side-stepping her every hit, blocking others with my forearm and still she was relentless and never lost her cool.
Twisting to the side, I blocked her kick, her ankle locked in my grasp, ready to yank her off balance. Her eyes widened when she realized her error. But then the breeze shifted, her delicious scent distracting me – until the air whooshed out of my lungs from her well-placed kick to my gut, which she followed through with sweeping my legs out from under me.
I stared up at her from flat on my back in the dewy grass of our front yard. She grinned smugly down at me, her face flushed and breathing hard. I was, too, but for an entirely different reason.
"That was careless, Goku."
She looked very proud of herself, her arms crossed and her chin held high – as if using her scent against me was her plan all along.
I smirked and – moving far faster than she was capable of tracking – reached up to grab her wrist and pulled her on top of me. Her startled yelp echoed through the trees and we were nose to nose.
She glared at me. "Now, that wasn't fair!"
I grinned, an eyebrow raised. "And using your scent against me was?"
I had her there. She pursed her lips and I chuckled and leaned up to kiss my clever wife, getting another good strong whiff of her one-of-a-kind, irresistibly sweet scent, my hands moving to explore her strong body on their own.
She gasped when I pulled the dress up enough to expose her butt, yanked it right back down with a red face and hissed, "Goku! Gohan will be home very soon!"
I chuckled and murmured, "You started it. But okay, let's take this somewhere else."
We did, finding a secluded pond we had visited a few times before. It was definitely a night to remember.

[Character Meme: Vegetto]
Character Meme || accepting || @cruel-x-beauty
Put a character in my askbox, and I’ll answer the following questions:
How do I feel about this character: I love him. He was the most interesting thing in whole Majin Buu part of the saga in the original series, and the only thing I cared about in the Zamasu arc in Super. Like, I didn’t care to watch Super at first, then I heard he was coming back and I zipped over so fast it was kind of sad. Then Super ruined him and I stopped watching shortly after that. :/
What do I like/admire about this character: He’s actually very smart (a failure on my part to actually play him that way). He knows how to manipulate his opponents into doing exactly what he wants. (i.e. Buuhan)
What do I dislike about this character: Um…?? Honestly tho, what is there to dislike? I’ll talk about how much I “hate” him for being an asshole, I actually love that part of him lol I get to channel his inner Vegeta lmao
Favourite moment for this character: I really love the bit where he pretended to be knocked out to lure Zamasu into a false sense of security before impaling the bastard on his spirit sword, but that maybe because it reminds me of what a certain other favorite character of mine did. She did something very similar and it was just as amazing.
Who I ship romantically with this character and why: No one really. A lot of people ship him with like Zamasu or Gogeta or something, but I’m just super meh on all of those. This, of course, may change over time. We’ll just have to see.
Who are my platonic ships for this character and why: Broships with Goku, Vegeta, and Gogeta. I’ve always been a sucker for familial bonds over romantic relationships. Romance is fun, but I really like the idea of Vegito acting like an ‘annoying older brother’ figure to Goku and Vegeta or the more annoying twin of Gogeta lmao
Things done in fanfiction with this character that annoy me: God if I see one more Harem fanfic in this poor boy’s tag I’m gonna lose my mind.
Things done in fanfiction with this character I want to see more of: Serious exploration on the repercussions regarding fusing permanently together. I would have liked to see that in canon but that was expecting too much I guess. Why fandom can’t be bothered idk

You’re my everything
Summary: After the defeat of Majin Buu, Goku vowed to return home and settle down with his family, once again. However, after seven long years without her husband, Chi-Chi has serious doubts about where his heart truly lies. Can Goku show his wife that he still loves her, just as deeply as ever and is here to stay, no matter what?
A/N: My submission for GoChi Week 2017, "Prompt 2: Longing" (read the fanfiction.net version here).
Surprise gift for my friend PrincessChiChi99 (slightly based on some of the discussions I've had with her, @saiyanb, @maiikawriter and a few others, in the past). The is my first attempt at a GoChi fic in two years, so please go easy xD. Also feel free to check out my other GoChi fic. :D
You're my everything:
Majin Buu was at last defeated, thanks to the combative calibre of Goku, the tactical prowess of Vegeta and the staunch bravery of Mr. Satan and the redeemed, rotund alter-ego of that pink fiend. More so, all the inhabitants of Earth and the planet Namek owed themselves a huge commendation, for having generously offered up a share of their Ki, in order to help vanquish the sinister being that threatened the entire cosmos. The world could take a deep, reposing breath and revel in the peace that it had finally earned.
A short while after the hard-fought victory, all the heroes who'd gathered together on Kami's lookout, returned home with their respective families, deciding to take the rest of the day to reorganize themselves, before the morrow's celebration. A lot of answers and explanations were due, by two hotheaded women in particular, namely, Chi-Chi and Bulma. Vegeta knew he'd be on the receiving end of a verbal whiplashing, from his shrewish wife, for the callous cruelty he'd exhibited, during the Martial-Arts tournament as well as the extenuating explosion that followed, in his first fight against Buu. Goku, on the other hand, was as clueless and complacent as always. However, hours later in his humble above of Mount Paozu, the rustic Saiyan felt increasingly perturbed. Though Chi-Chi was initially head-over-heels at the prospect of her husband returning home and settling down with her and the family, she barely knew how to act around him, once the early sense of excitement died down.
For seven-anguished years, the Ox Princess had to raise her children all by herself, longing for the presence of her beloved, while he was off larking in Otherworld. Such thoughts and misgivings flooded her mind, as she lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling, in contemplation.
"What's wrong, Chi-Chi?" Goku asked, concern and worry lacing his vividly dark irises, as he gazed upon his wife. Chi-Chi gave him a fleeting glance, before her eyes returned to the ceiling.
"It's just- I don't understand why you left me alone, for all those years." She muttered forlornly. "You're here now and I can't even begin describing how happy I am to have you back, but-"
She paused, a moment.
"But- what?" Goku pressed.
"I don't know, but for some reason, I can't help but think that if I stare at you for too long, you'll just disappear." She let out a dejected sigh. "It's weird, I know, but even then-"
"Hey, I'm not going anywhere." The burly Saiyan vowed, girding his sinewy arms around his wife. "I promise."
Chi-Chi was unable to suppress the distinct shudder of pleasure that escaped, as she found herself trapped within the loving clutches of her happy-go-lucky husband. All those doleful years, she'd yearned for this moment, to be held inside those strapping arms once more and now that it had finally arrived, she hardly knew what to do or how she could possibly handle it, if he decided to up-and-leave her, yet again. With a breath of surrender, she wiggled about in his grasp, till they were face to face.
"You say that now, but do you realize how difficult it's been for me, these last seven years?" She wound her slender arms, around his muscled neck, her lips quivering and eyes glistening, with unshed tears. "Sleeping on a cold, empty bed all by myself, every single night and watching Goten grow up, without his father? What made it even worse was that he looks just like you. Every time I saw him, he reminded me of you and everything you were missing. It broke my heart, knowing that you weren't there to see him come into this world, to hear his first words and to watch him, take his first steps. Heck, until recently, you weren't even aware of his existence. No matter how powerful you are, Goku, you can never bring back those moments. They're lost forever."
The Saiyan could only stare at her apologetically, as a minute of tense silence swam by.
"I- I never really thought about it that way, Chi-Chi." He confessed, eyes downcast in abjection, consumed by sheer remorse. "I- I thought I was protecting you."
"You thought wrong!" The raven-haired woman exclaimed, somewhat bitterly. "Hurting me was bad enough, but what about Gohan?! The poor kid spent a whole year, blaming himself for your stupid decisions! Do you even know just how much he looks up to you, how much he loves you?!"
Goku's heart sank to his stomach. He honestly hadn't expected such a strong reaction, from her.
"Are- are you upset that I decided to come back?" The Saiyan asked, in a defeated voice. At those words, Chi-Chi's expression instantly softened.
"No, of course not." She replied, placing a hand on his cheek and running her thumb along the hardened crook of his jawline. "What upsets me is that you left in the first place." She continued, more sombrely. "You say it won't happen again, but how can I believe that, after all this time?"
Another short pause followed, before Goku decided to say say his piece.
"Chi-Chi, I'll probably never understand how hard it was for you and looking back, I know that I definitely made the wrong decision."
"More like the worst decision." The Ox Princess rolled her eyes. "But, at least you admit it, so I guess that's a start."
"What I did wasn't to avoid you, it was to protect you, even if that meant giving you up." He earnestly stated. "Believe me when I say this, it was really hard for me too. You have no idea how much I missed both you and Gohan."
"How can you say that, when-"
"Please, Chi-Chi, just let me finish." The Saiyan went on. "At the time, I thought that by staying in Otherworld, villains would be less likely to attack the planet and in the off-chance that it did happen, Gohan would be strong enough to take care of it. But, I suppose coming back here and seeing things for myself, helped me realize just how badly I'd miscalculated."
"Oh?" Chi-Chi quirked a brow. "How so?"
"Well, despite his amazing potential, I see now, just how much Gohan hates fighting." He replied. "He just doesn't have the same passion for it that Vegeta and I do, for example. If he'd used these seven years to train, he'd easily be stronger than the both of us combined, but I understand now that he has other priorities and I shouldn't come in the way of that, nor should I expect him to fight the bad guys, while I'm off, having adventures in Otherworld. He doesn't need that burden on his shoulders, not when he has other dreams." The Ox-Princess couldn't help the smile that lit her face, at his acknowledgment. She'd never expected such words to escape his mouth, not ever. It made her heart radiate with joy. "It's my responsibility to protect you all and I know I can't do that, by being absent. I looked on from Otherworld, when Majin Buu killed you and afterwards, did the same thing to Krillin, Bulma and everyone else, all because I wasn't there to stop him." He grimaced at the horrendous memory. "I'm so sorry that it took so long for me to realize my mistakes, but that's why I'm here now, Chi-Chi. I know I don't say it very often, but I really do love you." Goku fastened his hold around her, as her smile grew bigger. "I'll always protect you, no matter what happens. You're everything to me."
"Oh, Goku." She cried, tightening her own hold around him, as she nuzzled her face in the recess of his neck and wept a stream of joyous tears. "I love you too."
"I know Chi-Chi, I know." He smiled broadly, rubbing her back up and down. Seconds later, she pulled back and pressed her lips against his. Eyes widening a moment, Goku chuckled and kissed back, re-familiarizing himself with the alluring process, before steadily slipping his tongue inside the warm caverns of her mouth and roving about, as he reveled in her fine, luscious taste. His hands roamed downwards, running along her soft, smooth contours of her thighs, before firmly grasping her rear end. Just as he was about to slide his fingers beneath her panties, however, Chi-Chi took hold of his wrist.
"Wait Goku, I-"
"What's wrong?" He asked. Usually it was her that initiated the "fun stuff" and she'd never rejected his advances, in the past.
"It's nothing, I just- I don't know, I just don't want to do this so soon." She said. "I'm still getting used to you being here, so let's not exceed second base, just yet. I wanna savor this and build slowly, till it feels right, know what I'm saying?"
"Okay sure, no problem hehe." The Saiyan let out a goofy laugh.
"That's my Goku." She smiled and captured his lips in another kiss. It would certainly take a great deal of effort to make up for all the lost time and memories and while it did sadden her that it took all these years for her husband to finally acknowledge the true depths of his blunders, she was glad he did and she truly hoped that it made him a better person.
A/N: Hope you guys enjoyed! Had a lot of fun, with this one!
I know there're a lot of contentions, with regards to whether or not Goku ever kissed Chi-Chi, but this is based primarily on the DBZ script, not DBS. In DBZ he does kiss Chi-Chi, off-screen, during the Androids saga, which is confirmed in Daizenshuu, so uh- yeah. Plus, I prefer it that way xD (what married couple doesn't kiss?). :D
Lastly, a big thanks to @redasuki and the others, for organizing this event! :D

I was reading your gochi post and the part about Goku not allowing his wife onto the battlefield to make sure she's safe reminds me of that moment in the Buu Saga where she slapped Buu and he ended up killing her. If Goku hadn't had to go back to the afterlife and he was present for that I just KNOW he would have grabbed ChiChi and stopped her from confronting Buu in order to stop her from getting herself killed.
very true!!!
you know at the tournament during the piccolo jr. saga, i think goku quickly learned that chichi was willing to die to protect what she loves. i mean, they had barely met again, but throughout the fight with piccolo, yamcha constantly needs to hold her back from intervening. what’s really good to point out here is that everyone was telling her if she jumps in, then it wouldn’t have been an honorable match, disqualifying goku and eventually hurting his pride.
i think that’s a really significant part of his character and though he still retains that in z, you see that his priorities with her completely changes (hinting so much growth in their five years alone together!!) and though i didn’t really like krillin & everyone being dishonest with her, by their first reunion, they are aware that goku holds chichi’s opinion/chichi in general in high regard (like not just concerning gohan, but the fact that he literally ditched them for five years and had a whole family life without telling them lmao) so i understand. plus, chichi flips her freaking lid so there’s that too
but back to the buu saga, he would’ve stopped her the same way he stopped gohan from going to aid piccolo, reminding them that there’s a bigger picture (which he understands a lot. i mean, why would he willingly be away for a year and half from people he cares about after namek to train, knowing he would’ve been better taken care of if he was back on earth?? like learning that technique was extremely critical).
however, i don’t think it would’ve been easy for either of them to hold back considering that gohan was (at the time) known to be dead, and that’s their family. i’ve said this many times and i’ll say it again, goten’s the only one who really inherited ability to listen to reason/be a moral voice even under stressful situations, which makes him so much different from his brother and even goku (though that could be the fact that his life wasn’t stressful until he was like 6/7 whereas gohan and goku were like 5 when things got crazy??). so yeah, he would’ve held her back but it definitely wouldn’t be easy

Fandom (Anime, Games, Etc) Search!
AU's are fine, as a lot of my ideas, are basically AU's for Fandoms. Though, if we want to write within Canon events, we can! Other themes and concepts all welcomed as well! From AU's, to Time-line re-works/Canon Re-writes.
IF we choose to craft our own team, than it will have to be OC's. Who stumbles across Rita's coin?  :Plus, I hardcore Ship Trini and Kimberly from this Universe together, if we want that, as well.
Persona 5:
Canon characters, please as the main focus. OC's can be used as foes the Thieves go up against. As for where/when we can set things? Totally open for AU's. Perhaps, some side-stories and adventures. Or, even after the event of the Games. (I haven't played Scramble Or Royal yet, so no spoilers there!) We can go Complete AU ideas- with Genderbending all the Thieves into Ladies.
(....given how much of the game is played as him, rather than...you know....Kakarot...) Anywho.
Of course, we could do a Bunch of What-if's and build upon them; though the Buu Saga one is more appealing to me, right now.
For this Fandom, I don't have a lot of concept thoughts. I did really like the character of Melissa Shield from the first movie, so maybe some story with her? Though, I think working with Canon characters (Expect one exploding Boy, as I don't think I could write him, and kinda don't care for him too much). Since I feel if I tried creating an OC within this world, it might jut be a slight rip off from another Fandom.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure:  Now, this could be either Canon or OC. Or, simple going about 'What-If________Survived part______" Type stories.
Kingdom Hearts:
I am all caught up, game wise. And, Re:Mind DLC is still kicking me in the dirt, with the Data Fights, but I am aware of the Yozora stuff, afterwards. Ideally, Canon for this Universe. I find most KH Oc's....a bit cringe.  If I am being honest. There are a few things, I think a Re-write AU could do. Or, if we wish to just play with our favorite characters in some new setting, that is always an option. My Favorite Trio: The Sea-Salt Trio
Star Wars (Disney Overlords.):
So, I'm still not sure how I feel about: The Rise of Skywalker, and I suppose that's alright. There are aspects I enjoy, but others I don't. There's also old concept art from one of the many scraped games, that we could use as inspiration, to write about.  I don't know too much about Legends, so working within the Canon Disney has established, might be a bit easier for me. But, if we really want to dive into Old Republic type stuff, I am not against it, just might need to do some research.
That's all for now. Again, these are just thoughts and random spits of words. More than open to build something from the ground up, within any of these Fandoms. Plus, this isn't a full list either. A few others exists, that I could write with! if interested, feel free to ask! My Email, as I find it easier to start off with but if we want to move else where after that is more than fine, is: [email protected]
Thanks for reading!

Dragon Ball Z Movie 14: Battle of Gods
Tumblr media
“Battle of Gods” premiered on March 30, 2013, seventeen years after “The Path to Power.”   Apparently Toei changed up their logo a bit during that time.
Tumblr media
Anyway, this movie, wait, what?    Are we watching Star Wars now?
Tumblr media
Yes, we know Toei made this, why are they credited again?
Tumblr media
And what’s this thing for?   I mean, they could have put this at the start of any of these movies, but why do it now?
Tumblr media
The way I heard it, this movie got made because 20th Century Fox had the rights to make a Dragon Ball movie in the U.S., and then they made Dragon Ball Evolution in 2009, and it... did not impress anyone.   At all.    I remember thinking it was okay, but that’s about as much enthusiasm as I could muster for it.    Anyway, the story goes that Toriyama decided that he didn’t care much for DBE, and decided to come out of retirement to make his own Dragon Ball movie and show all the big shots at Fox how it’s done.   Well, maybe I just assumed this.   It makes a good story, doesn’t it?
Tumblr media
The theatrical release was 85 minutes long, but the home video version got an extra twenty-minutes of footage, which includes this rather lengthy introduction to the story, recapping Goku’s past adventures.   I don’t think the movie particularly needed this, although I am grateful that they found a way to cram Cell into it.
Tumblr media
Then we get to the actual start, where the Kaioshin have observed that Beerus the Destroyer has awakened from his slumber.
Tumblr media
Kibitoshin contacts King Kai to keep an eye on the situation, and to keep Goku out of it at all costs.
Tumblr media
But Goku is on King Kai’s planet, and he overhears their discussion, and King Kai can’t keep a secret, apparently, so he just tells Goku the whole thing.   So far, all the gods we’ve seen in Dragon Ball are responsible for creating and preserving life, like the Kais and Kaioshin.   Beerus, on the other hand, is a Hakaioshin, or God of Destruction, and it’s his role to destroy stuff from time to time, in order to maintain balance in the universe.   And unlike all the Kais, Beerus actually has immense power worthy of his authority.
Tumblr media
And naturally Goku wants to see how strong he is, even though King Kai keeps insisting that he’s not someone Goku needs to mess with.
Tumblr media
And there’s the title of this here picture.
Tumblr media
We then go to Beerus’, uh... planet?  Whatever this thing would be called.    It reminds me of Tokimi’s domain in Tenchi Muyo!
Tumblr media
And here’s Beerus.   He’s a big purple cat dude, and he’s pretty awesome.   I’m not sure how long he normally sleeps, but he set his alarm to wake him up after 39 years, and everyone comments that this is a very short nap by his standards.   Also, Beerus’ alarm clock is made of bombs, because Dragon Ball Z.
Tumblr media
This is regarded as one of the best, if not the best Dragon Ball film, and it’s tough to argue the point.   In 2013-2014, it was a big heckin’ deal because it was the big return of Dragon Ball after the end of Dragon Ball GT in 1997.   From 2015 onwards, it became known as the ground floor of a whole new Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball Super.   But even without the hype and nostalgia, what puts it ahead of the other movies is the simple fact that it works within the canon of the original manga.   It’s set during the ten year gap in the Kid Buu Saga, and it actually adds to the lore of the main story.     Movies 5 and 8 introduced characters with connections to the main story in Cooler and Broly, but they barely tried to explain what those characters had been doing while all the stuff with Frieza was going on.
By contrast, Movie 14 introduces a new deity, and he claims at least partial responsibility for destroying Planet Vegeta.   That’s a huge deal, and it’s not something that Turles or Bojack could ever do.   According to Beerus, he believed the Saiyans were beyond redemption, so he planned to destroy their planet, but it was too far away for him to bother with, so he told Frieza to do it for him.   At the same time, Beerus found Frieza to be quite insufferable as well, so he considers destroying him as well, but then his attendant Whis tells him that someone named Goku already beat him to it.
Tumblr media
When Whis explains that Goku beat Frieza by becoming a Super Saiyan, it reminds Beerus of a dream he had about something he calls a “Super Saiyan God”.    See, before he took his 39-year nap, Beerus was told that he would meet an arch-rival.   That’s why he set his alarm bombs for this year, because this is supposed to be when it happens.   Apparently during his nap, he had a dream of his own, that he would fight a Super Saiyan God.
Tumblr media
Whis doesn’t put much stock in any of this, especially since the Oracle Fish who made the prophecy doesn’t seem to recall saying it, but Beerus insists on investigating, so Whis locates the remaining Saiyans on Earth.   He then notices Goku is on King Kai’s planet, so they decide to head there first.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, on Earth, it’s Bulma’s birthday.   She won’t say how old she is, but this movie is set in Age 778, four years after the fight with Majin Buu, and she was born in Age 733, so she’s 45 in this movie.
Tumblr media
There’s a bit where Mr. Satan apparently meets Bulma’s father for the first time and mistakes him for a waiter.   Ox King has to explain who Dr. Brief is, and Mr. Satan is mortified to learn that he just asked the world’s richest man to fetch him a drink.    Dr. Brief doesn’t seem to mind much.
Tumblr media
There’s a bingo tournament at the party, and the prizes include stuff like an entire castle.   Bulma offers to liquidate prizes into cash if the winners prefer that.   I dig how 18 really, really wants some sweet castle money.
Tumblr media
On King Kai’s planet, Beerus and Whis arrive and have a somewhat awkward conversation with Goku, who knows nothing about “Super Saiyan God.”  Beerus decides to head for Earth to ask the other Saiyans there, but before he goes, Goku asks him to demonstrate some of his awesome power with a quick sparring match.    Beerus is intrigued by the request, so he agrees.
Tumblr media
So Goku powers up to Super Saiyan 3, but he can’t even touch Beerus, or make him take the battle seriously.
Tumblr media
Really, this is my favorite part of the movie, because I dig me some Super Saiyan 3, and this movie just demolishes the whole concept of SSJ3 with the way Beerus humiliates Goku in this form.    It’s incredibly strong, as seen when Goku misses a punch and blasts a hole through King Kai’s planet, but against Beerus, SSJ3 is meaningless.
Tumblr media
Beerus only uses two blows to beat Goku.   The first is a playful flick of the finger in Goku’s face, and the second is a light chop to the neck.   Goku goes down like a ton of bricks, and Beerus proceeds on his merry way to Earth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, you might be wondering how King Kai even has a planet, since Cell destroyed it way back in Episode 188.   Beerus and Whis briefly mention that it was restored, but they don’t say how it happened.    Neither does anyone mention that King Kai and Bubbles are still dead.   This is a running gag through Dragon Ball Super, where Goku keeps promising to wish King Kai back to life but never gets around to it.    I could have sworn King Kai was alive in Movie 14, but I must have been mistaken, unless Toei edited all these halos in after the fact.
By the way, Whis also mentions that King Kai’s planet is so small because Beerus got angry once and did something to make it this size.    I don’t know if he destroyed most of the planet’s mass, or some other thing.    At some point, it got established that Beerus was the one who trapped the Elder Kai in the Z-Sword, but that seems out of character as well.     Beerus destroys stuff.    Shrinking planets and sealing people in swords really isn’t his style.
Tumblr media
As for King Kai, he telepathically contacts Vegeta to warn him of Beerus’ impending arrival.   He makes it clear that Goku was no match for Beerus, and if anyone upsets Beerus, he might decide to destroy the Earth in his anger.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goku struggles to make sense of what just happened.    He’s thrilled to have encountered someone so powerful, but he has no idea whether Super Saiyan God is a new form, or a person named “God” who happens to be an unknown Saiyan.   He also briefly considers fusing with Vegeta to beat Beerus, but then decides that not even Gogeta could close the gap in their powers.
Tumblr media
Luckily, Goku had some senzu beans in his belt, and Bubbles fishes one out and feeds it to him.   But that only restores Goku’s health.    He still doesn’t have an answer to the problem of Beerus.
Tumblr media
So it’s up to Vegeta, who finally puts in an appearance at Bulma’s party.   She teases him, but he’s in no mood for jokes, because he feels like he remembers Beerus from somewhere, and he doesn’t know where.
Tumblr media
So Bulma’s like, whatever, imma get my drink on.
Tumblr media
Then Beerus calls out to Vegeta, and Vegeta doesn’t know where he is.    One of the conceits of this movie is that Beerus’ power doesn’t operate on the ki used by most of the main characters.    So Goku and Vegeta can’t sense Beerus and Whis’ presence the way they can sense one another.   Supposedly, all deities are like this, except Kami and Dende had ordinary ki, and so did King Kai, because Goku was always able to find him for instant transmission.    The Supreme Kai is a different story, I guess, but Goku threatened to teleport to him at the beginning of this movie, implying that he could sense his presence and use Instant Transmission to reach him.
Anyway, Vegeta searches a trash can for Beerus, since yeah, I guess he could be in there.
Tumblr media
Oh, Krillin, you have no idea.    One of the major qualities that makes this movie a fan favorite is all the dumb stuff Vegeta does in this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At last, Vegeta finds Beerus, and he remembers the time they visited Planet Vegeta when he was a child.    His father, King Vegeta, prepared a banquet for him, and spent the whole meal as a footstool.
Tumblr media
Personally, I never liked this scene much.   I think they just needed a way for Vegeta to have already met Beerus in the past, and this works well enough, except having Beerus humiliate King Vegeta seems rather redundant.    King Vegeta was already a vassal to Frieza, so having a second character treat him this way just feels hollow.
Tumblr media
Beerus asks Vegeta about the Super Saiyan God, but he doesn’t know anything about it either.   That might have been enough to get them to leave, except Bulma’s party attracts his attention, and he loves the smell of the food, and then Bulma herself walks over and invites Beerus and Whis to join them, much to Vegeta’s chagrin.
Tumblr media
For what it’s worth, Beerus conducts himself with grace and manners at the party.    He puts up with Piccolo’s karaoke...
Tumblr media
...enjoys the cuisine and the view of Yamcha’s handsome face...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and he shows everyone his awesome dance moves.
Tumblr media
Vegeta gets nervous when Mr. Satan drunkenly challenges him to a fight, but then he passes out and Beerus has a laugh over it, so he clearly didn’t take it seriously.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Emperor Pilaf is sneaking around inside Bulma’s house.   So here’s the deal: these three never stopped trying to get the Dragon Balls to achieve world domination, and apparently at some point they succeeded, only for Pilaf to wish for restored youth instead.     Mai complains that they were made too young, but Pilaf’s reasoning is that it wouldn’t do for them to wish for world domination and then die of old age immediately after.
I feel like this is some sort of shot at Dragon Ball GT, where the Pilaf Gang appears in the first episode and they’re very elderly.    But maybe I’m reading too much into that.    At any rate, Pilaf is young, but he’s also poor, so he plans to use their next Dragon Ball wish to get some cash, and then they can wish to rule the world.   Does he know that the Dragon grants more than one wish at a time now?    I feel like Toriyama might have forgotten that in 2013, honestly.
Tumblr media
Somehow, Pilaf has a Dragon Radar, and that’s how he knows all seven Dragon Balls are in Bulma’s house.   Turns out they’re the grand prize of the bingo tournament, and so they’re located in the prize room.   How did Bulma fit an entire castle inside one room of her house?
Tumblr media
Overcome with envy, Pilaf spray paints graffitti on the prizes.    Yeah, DX Rulz!
Tumblr media
They find the Balls, but can’t risk summoning Shenron indoors.   Then Trunks walks in on them, and then Goten shows up, and they panic, because they mistake Goten for Goku, their old nemesis.
Tumblr media
This screencap should be in the Smithsonian or something.
Tumblr media
Mai was trying to steal one of the other prizes, a valuable diamond, but she hands it back to Trunks before running away.
Tumblr media
Goten asks who those guys were, Trunks says Mai is his girlfriend, which impresses Goten to no end.    “So awesome!”   I like that there’s at least some effort to try to age up the boys.    Goten doesn’t look too different, but his dad was pretty short at twelve, and he’s only eleven here.    Meanwhile, Trunks should be almost the same age as Future Trunks was when he found Future Gohan’s dead body.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Mai only gave Trunks the diamond to cover her theft of one of the Dragon Balls.    Her plan is to hold it for ransom, say one million dollars.    But the diamond was probably worth a lot more than that.
Tumblr media
But before they can make their escape, Trunks invites them to join the party because Bulma wants to meet his new girlfriend.   Pilaf thinks it’s him.  Mai isn’t too keen on pretending to be Trunks’ date, but at least they get free food out of this.
Tumblr media
Back on King Kai’s planet, Goku films more segments for Jackass.   He always forgets to bring a camera, but it’s the thought that counts.
Tumblr media
Then Bulma tries to start the bingo tournament, but Yamcha points out that one of the Dragon Balls is missing, which screws up her grand prize.
Tumblr media
Pilaf gets caught sneaking the seventh ball, so Mai tries to use Trunks as a hostage.    Except everyone thinks it’s a skit, either because Trunks is impervious to bullets, or because no one thinks Mai would have a real gun.
Tumblr media
Then Gohan decides to join in, so he switches to his Great Saiyaman outfit and dares Mai to shoot him in the face.    What the fuck?
Tumblr media
So she does it, and Gohan deflects the bullets.    He’s irked that Mai’s gun is real, and even more irked when he realizes he deflected one of the bullets into his wife’s leg.     Imagine going to a party like this and getting shot.   I guess this is why they stopped inviting Launch to these things.
Tumblr media
Oh, and then Master Roshi wants to feel Videl up.    She got shot, you asshole!   Master Roshi belongs in jail.    Seriously, imagine you’re Mr. Satan, and you just watched your daughter get shot, and some sex pest shows up and he’s all “Lemme give her mouth-to-mouth eh-heh-heh-heh-heh!”     This whole part of the movie hasn’t aged well, at least for me.
Tumblr media
I guess it didn’t bother me so much the first time I saw it because I knew Dende could just heal her, but that doesn’t make this okay.    Someone informs Mr. Satan that Dende is Kami, and he’s all like “What?  Really?”    I guess he just forgot that day they hung out together stalking Super Buu on the deserted planet Earth.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Dende somehow detects that Videl is pregnant while he heals her leg.   He seems kind of concerned about this, like he doesn’t know what that means.   “Ma’am, I don’t know how to tell you this, but I think you have a parasite.”   “No, that’s a baby, it’s cool, I put it there.”   “Look, I didn’t come here to listen to you brag about your sex life.”
Tumblr media
Oh, also one of the bullets hit Beerus, which irritates him enough that he decides to blow up the world...
Tumblr media
Until Vegeta jumps on stage and performs his epic Bingo song and dance number.   How did he get the music cued up?
Tumblr media
Watching Vegeta make an ass of himself is enough to calm Beerus down, so Vegeta thinks he might be safe for a little longer.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Piccolo loses at Bingo and Bee eats his card.    What a good boy.   Well, without any pesky litter to annoy Beerus, it looks like Vegeta is home free.   Wait, why is “Roundabout” by Yes playing?
Tumblr media
Ohhhhhhhhhh.
Tumblr media
Oh no...
Tumblr media
Oh, he won’t share his pudding because he doesn’t know this guy can kill everybody that’s bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this leads to Buu throwing down with Beerus, and Beerus can kick his ass easily, but the point is that he’s mad enough to destroy the world, and this time no amount of singing and dancing is going to calm him down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone tries to stop Beerus, but he just schools them all with chopsticks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gohan gets Beerus in a full nelson for like 0.2 seconds, but it doesn’t get him very far.   Why did Gohan change clothes again for this?
Tumblr media
So Vegeta figures we’re all screwed now anyway, so he jumps into the fray.
Tumblr media
It goes about as well as you’d expect.    To be fair, he lasts longer than Goku did.
Tumblr media
Goten and Trunks fuse into Gotenks, who tries to shame Beerus over his motives.   He’s going to destroy the whole world over pudding?   I’ve probably said this before, but when Gotenks thinks you’re being immature, it’s probably time to take a step back and think about your choices.
Tumblr media
Beerus replies that he’s upset about pudding because he’s never had it before, and now he can never taste it because some pink asshole ate it all.   Gotenks doesn’t understand his frustration because he probably eats pudding all the time.    This scene is dumb, but it actually captures the core point of this conflict.    Beerus savors all these new experiences because he’s like a kajillion years old, and it’s hard for him to find something truly novel in life.   So when he’s denied the taste of pudding, it’s a huge deal to him, while the other characters take it for granted.
Tumblr media
Then he spanks Gotenks and tosses him to the ground.
You know, the funny thing about it is that I really have no idea what kind of pudding we’re talking about here.    The term covers so many different types of food.   I assume this is about Jello instant pudding, specifically French Vanilla flavor.   So yeah, of course Beerus should be angry about that.   French Vanilla Jello pudding rules, and he doesn’t even know it.   But for all I know, Buu was eating a bunch of flan, Panna cotta, or haggis.   In which case, yeah, Beerus probably shouldn’t be this worked up about it.
Tumblr media
Anyway, nobody can stop this dude, and Vegeta’s amazed by just how much stronger Beerus is.    He at least takes some solace in the honor of being killed by no less than the God of Destruction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then Bulma confronts him and tells him to cut out all this shit, because he’s ruining her 38th birthday party.    Krillin’s pleased to hear how old Bulma is, but that’s dumb, because he ought to know Bulma’s older than he is.
Tumblr media
Anyway, she slaps Beerus, who slaps her back and knocks her down, and Vegeta loses his shit.   This is the famous “MY BULMAAAAAA” scene.    It’s weird to me, but I remember what a big deal this was at the time, and yet now it feels sort of mundane.    Like, I first watched this movie in late 2013, on some kind of bootleg fansub, and I think the scene had gotten around in the U.S.   But even by the time it came to theaters in 2014, the audience went apeshit when this happened.    Vegeta loves his wife!   Now it’s like, of course he loves his wife.   Movie 14 said so.    But at the time, when Movie 14 was brand new, this was the sort of thing Vegebul shippers could only appreciate in theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don’t get me wrong, this part fucking rules.   Everyone’s been tiptoeing around Beerus this whole time, but Vegeta’s been pushed too far, and he’s got nothing to lose, and for a brief moment, it looks like Beerus is getting a taste of his own medicine.
Tumblr media
Then we see this lady, for no apparent reason.  This is Kaori Mutsumoto, who won the 2012 Olympics Gold Medal for judo.    I guess that’s why they gave her a cameo in this movie, but that’s about all I know.
Tumblr media
Anyway, none of Vegeta’s furious offense hurts Beerus at all, even though Master Roshi observes that he surpassed Goku in power.   Beerus boops him on the forehead and knocks him out.
Tumblr media
In the theatrical cut, this is when Goku would show himself, but in the extended version, Beerus decides to give the Earth one more chance by challenging Oolon to a game of rock-paper-scissors.    I really don’t know what the point of this was.   I mean, it’s kind of funny, I guess, but why Oolong specifically?    I guess Toriyama wanted to give Oolong a moment in the film, but why?   He was in most of the Buu Saga, holed up on Kami’s Lookout with the others until Super Buu ate him, but he barely said or did anything the entire time.    Why should anyone care about him now?    Why should Beerus single him out, of all people?
Anyway, the gag here is that Yamcha thinks Beerus picked Oolong because he’s a pig, and pigs can only do scissors because of their cloven hooves.   But Oolong’s a pig-man, with man hands, so he can do paper and rock too.    So Yamcha tells him that Beerus will certainly go with rock, so Oolong should use paper to counter.
Except Beerus overhears the entire conversation, because his ears are bigger than his entire head, so he does scissors and wins.    Dragon Ball Super turned this bit into half of an entire episode.    The Beerus Saga in Dragon Ball Super is fucking vile.    They took a great movie like this and just turned it into crap.
Tumblr media
All right, so now Goku makes his big entrance.   At first he looks all cool, like when he walked up to Frieza back on Namek, but the truth is he still has no idea how to beat Beerus.     Then he gets an idea on how to get a Super Saiyan God, and asks Beerus for time to try it out.
Tumblr media
Said idea is the Dragon Balls.   Is that Farmer with Shotgun?  He’d settle Beerus’ hash.
Tumblr media
Basically, Goku asks Shenron about the Super Saiyan God, and this throws him off, because Shenron grants wishes, and answering questions is kind of a grey area for him.  Fortunately, he’s so frightened to see Beerus that he’s very accomodating and just explains the whole Super Saiyan God concept in detail.
Tumblr media
So real quick, because this post is taking forever: The Super Saiyan God isn’t an individual deity, but a transformation once used by righteous Saiyans to rebel against their evil brethren.     The figure seen while Shenron tells this story was later identified by Akira Toriyama as Yamoshi, the first Super Saiyan.   He and his five Saiyan allies fought against the evil Saiyans, and I guess they turned him into this God form, which let him whoop-ass until he ran out of power.
With that settled, Shenron excuses himself, mostly out of fear of Beerus.   I’d say that Shenron owes Goku a second and third wish, but I’m not sure answering his question counted as a first wish, so who knows?
Tumblr media
So this leads to the gang arguing over whether they have five righteous Saiyans, since Vegeta used to be a real dick, and Goku’s not always dependable either, and Goten once shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.    But they figure they might as well give it a shot, and they all hold hands and lend their power to Goku.   Only it doesn’t work.   Goku gets stronger, but nowhere near strong enough to beat Beerus, and there’s nothing divine about his power-up.
Tumblr media
But Whis points out that they actually need six Saiyans, since Shenron’s story states that it took five righteous Saiyans to help a sixth one achieve the form.    Bulma remembers Vegeta’s brother, Tarble, from the “Yo!  Son Goku and His Friends Return” special, which aired in 2007 and was set about two years before this movie.    Only Vegeta doesn’t even know where Tarble lives or how to contact him.   Couldn’t Whis track him down?    I mean, he found all of these guys easily enough.
Tumblr media
Then Videl suggests that they have a sixth Saiyan right here, because Gohan got her pregnant.
Tumblr media
Everyone flips out, but this is hardly the time to celebrate, because Beerus is about to blow up the world.   So they do the hand-holdin’ thing again, but with Videl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it works.    Like Beerus and Whis, no one can sense Goku’s ki anymore, and he’s got maroon hair and his body is lankier than before.
Tumblr media
So Beerus and Goku fight.   Honestly the Super Saiyan God form doesn’t seem like such a big deal, since this part of the fight is just the warm up.    It takes Goku a while to get used to using it, and they spend most of that time discussing how Goku is dissatisfied with how he got to this level.    He doesn’t like that he needed the others to help him achieve this form.   Beerus scolds his stubborn pride, and says that most Saiyans wouldn’t care about such details, because all they crave is power, by any means.
Tumblr media
But Goku points out that Vegeta is even prouder than he is, and yet Vegeta forsook his pride to protect the others, back when he did the bingo song and all of that stuff.   This tells us two things.   First, Goku was there to witness all of that.   Second, Beerus was fully aware of Vegeta’s efforts to keep him from becoming angry.    I’d suggest that Beerus isn’t quite as irritable and volatile as he seems.  Maybe he purposely goaded Vegeta to test him, just like how he hit Bulma just to see if it might provoke Vegeta into reaching a higher power level.
Tumblr media
The point, though, is that for all of Vegeta’s pride, he could set it aside for the bigger picture.   He can compromise for the sake of protecting his loved ones and the Earth.    Goku’s the same way, which is why he accepted the other’s help in becoming a Super Saiyan God.   He doesn’t like how he got here, but he couldn’t afford to try to go it alone.
And really, this is a lesson Goku’s learned time and again.     He had to accept teachers before in his life: Grandpa Gohan, Master Roshi, Korin, Mr. Popo, King Kai, and now this.   But it’s been a long time since he had to take lessons from anyone, and maybe that’s the problem.   Goku’s been on top for so long that he lost sight of something he understood better as a child.   A student has to swallow their pride to learn and grow.    And Goku will always be a student, because he’s constantly trying to improve himself and push past his limits.     Like it or not, he had to accept this path to the God form.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the rest of the characters get in an aircraft to observe the battle, and Whis asks 18 what ice cream is.    He remarks that her response is as cold as his dessert, which he thinks is a clever bon mot.   Look, your boss is going to blow up the world.    How friendly can you expect her to be here?
Tumblr media
Also, Vegeta admits to Krillin that he doesn’t envy Goku like he ususally does in these situations.    I like this, because it shows that Vegeta is willing to drop his usual bravado in this situation.    This isn’t a fun situation, and he knows it.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Goku and Beerus keep fighting, but somehow Goku loses his Nacho Cheese Dorito appearance.  He looks like he’s changed back to normal, and yet he’s still fighting Beerus as if nothing’s happened.    He can even use Instant Transmission, which would have been nearly useless against Beerus before, because Goku couldn’t sense him.    I assume that Super Saiyan God Goku could sense godly ki, so the fact that he can still sense it must mean that he’s still tapping into the SSG power, even if he doesn’t look like it.
Tumblr media
Then he turns vanilla Super Saiyan, and now the fight gets really good, because the insert song plays.  It’s “Hero” by FLOW.   The weird thing is that they recorded an English version of the song for the dub, but when I watched the Japanese version on the DVD, the song is still in English.    Weird.    Fortunately, I have the Japanese version of “Hero” on my phone, so I can listen to that all the time.
youtube
Tumblr media
Anyway, yeeeeahhhhh.    Fuck Yamoshi, Goku’s gonna do this Luffa-style and fight Beerus as a Super Saiyan 1.
Tumblr media
Then they fight IN SPACE because anime.    Earlier, Beerus used hand energy on Goku, so Goku figures he’ll respond in kind, using the best hand energy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WARP KAMEHAMEHA!    Cell may not get to be in this movie, but Goku uses the move that blew his face off!    Yee-haw!
Tumblr media
But it doesn’t work, and Beerus chucks one of those big energy balls at Goku, like all the other bad guys use.   He also points out to Goku that his God power expired several minutes ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Goku sees Chi-Chi in his thoughts, and that gives him the intestinal fortitude to somehow change back into a Super Saiyan God and nullify Beerus’ energy ball.    Chi-Chi’s that good in bed, folks.
Tumblr media
So Beerus is truly impressed by Goku’s performance.   Somehow, his body learned the Super Saiyan God form, and allowed Goku to tap into that power without doing the hand-holding ceremony with five other Saiyans.   Beerus calls him a fighting genius for this, although maybe Yamoshi and any other SSG’s had the same talent, and they just got killed before they could demonstrate it.
In any case, it’s still not enough to win Goku this fight.    Beerus wants to hear him surrender, and Goku admits defeat.    Beerus had offered to spare the Earth if Goku won, but Goku just can’t beat him, even with the God power.   And Beerus refuses to back out of that stipulation, because once he makes up his mind, he sticks to it.
Tumblr media
Instead, Beerus gives Goku a different consolation prize by revealing that Whis is actually Beerus’ teacher, and he’s even stronger than Beerus is.   So it just goes to show that even Gods of Destruction have to swallow their pride and accept help to grow.
Tumblr media
He also informs Goku that their universe is merely the seventh of twelve, which means that Whis isn’t even the strongest being out there.   This fascinates Goku to no end, because he always longs to meet stronger folks.
Tumblr media
Then they head back to the surface, and Beerus destroys Earth just as he said, only he just destroys a small piece of it, which I guess counts for something.   I don’t know if this is a play on “Earth the planet” versus “earth the dirt”, or something else.    Beerus says he’s too worn out from the fight to destroy the whole thing, so maybe that’s all it is.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Beerus apologizes to Bulma for making a scene at her party, and for hitting her.    She agrees to invite them to her next party, and promises to have a swimming pool full of pudding for him.    That sounds kind of gross, actually.
Tumblr media
On the Supreme Kai Planet, the Kaioshin observe Beerus’ peaceful departure, and are amazed that Goku was able to defuse that situation without Beerus destroying them all.   Kibitoshin suggests that maybe it’s not just Goku’s character, but the entire Dragon Team as well.    Not Roshi, though, he’s a sex pest who belongs in jail.    If Beerus had boobs we’d all be dead right now.
Tumblr media
Back on his own turf, Beerus is pleased with how things turned out.   Goku and Vegeta weren’t really strong enough to be true arch-rivals, but Beerus is certain that they could eventually become arch-rivals in time, which is good enough for him.
Tumblr media
Beerus plans to take a three-year nap, but Whis offers him some sushi that he got in a to-go box before they left.   Beerus takes an interest in the glob of wasabi in the box, and he just eats the whole thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That makes him bounce around the place like a Tom and Jerry cartoon, and Whis has to hit him to stop him from damaging any nearby planets.    So we get at least a glimpse into Whis’ true strength, which is as far beyond Beerus as Beerus is beyond Goku.
Tumblr media
Back on Earth, the party just keeps on going.    I like the idea of Bulma just throwing a marathon party, but I can’t really say I’d enjoy that personally.   I’d probably get bored after 15 minutes.
Tumblr media
During this quiet moment, Goku praises Vegeta for turning into “an awesome Super Saiyan” after Bulma got hit.
Tumblr media
Vegeta’s embarassed by this, but Goku admits that he definitely surpassed him in that moment.   Then he jokes that the next time they have to fight a guy, Goku will just get the enemy to hit Bulma, and that’ll get Vegeta good and fired up.
Tumblr media
Then everyone’s mad at Goku, because he must have been watching them get beat up during the middle of the movie and didn’t step in until later.   It ain’t easy being Goku.
Tumblr media
Then the credits roll, and they show all the highlights from the manga, including this shot of Cell, which is the best one.
Tumblr media
And yeah, that’s it.
I mean, it’s definitely one of the best movies of the lot.    It’s a lot longer than most of the other films, and it feels more like an actual, stand-alone film.    The Cooler movies really depend on you being familiar with a lot of DBZ lore, like Bardock, Frieza, the destruction of Planet Vegeta, and so on.     This movie takes care to actually introduce most of the concepts it uses.    The Kai’s introduce Beerus, Beerus and Whis introduce Saiyans and Super Saiyans, and Shenron explains what a Super Saiyan God is.    It’s not entirely airtight-- no one really bothers to explain the Kais, or why Bulma invited bit players like Ox King and Mr. Satan to her party, but you can at least muddle through.
My main critique is that it’s a little too devoted to fanservice.   Not the pervy kind, but the kind where they felt like they had to have Gotenks and Great Saiyaman in the movie, just for the sake of having them put in an appearance.    Most of the characters just didn’t need to be there, and I think the movie drags in places when it tries to give Oolong or Mr. Satan something to contribute.    There’s something to be said for the minimalist approach used in the DBS: Broly movie, where the only Dragon Team guys are Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma.    Yeah, it kind of sucks that Gohan doesn’t get to be in that one, but if they didn’t have anything for him to do, then I’d rather leave him out entirely than have him just stand around like he did for most of this movie.
I remember being kind of bewildered by the way they went to all the trouble of introducing a new form for Goku, only to have him get stronger when he stopped using it, but now that we’ve learned more about the godly ki stuff from Movie 15 and the back half of Dragon Ball Super, it makes a little more sense.   Nacho Cheese Dorito Goku was just the door, and this movie was about Goku stepping through it.
Rewatching “Battle of Gods”, I don’t feel quite as hyped as I did when it first came out.    I remember being pretty excited about Goku fighting this purple cat dude, and I never dreamed that he’d lose so badly, or that Beerus would turn out to be an okay dude in the end.    It was a big deal that they brought all of this stuff back after so many years.
Now, though, it’s just become part of the DBZ mythos, which kind of diminishes it somehow.    It’s definitely not as good as Fusion Reborn, at least for me.   I was looking forward to watching Movie 12 again way back in July, and when I did get to that one, I ended up rewatching large sections of it a few times.   I just love that movie.    Same thing with Movie 13.   I only watched that one the one time, but the whole time I was watching it, I kept thinking “Man, this is so good.”    BoG is a great movie, but it’s just not on the same level as those others.    Just my opinion, of course.
Nevertheless, you’ve got a really awesome trilogy of movies here, which serves as a nice make-good for the crap trilogy of Bojack and the Broly sequels.    And after that, you’ve got Movie 15, and well...

Dragon Ball Z Movie 12: Fusion Reborn (4/6)
Tumblr media
The problem: An accident at King Yemma’s has mutated one of his ogres into Janemba, a creature with incomprehensible power.   Janemba has sealed Yemma’s domain within a spiritual barrier, which has disrupted the boundary between the living and the dead.  On Earth, Gohan tried using the Dragon Balls to fix things, but not even Shenron has the power to undo Janemba’s mischief.
Neither can Pikkon, since the barrier seems to resist even his most powerful attacks.
Tumblr media
Goku has lured Janemba away so that Pikkon could rescue Yemma without distraction, but so far that hasn’t done any good.  Frustrated, Pikkon shouts at the obstacle.
Tumblr media
And a bit of it breaks away.
Tumblr media
This is never explained, but I’m not sure an explanation is really needed here.  Scolding the barrier and calling it names seems to damage it.    Maybe that says something about the nature of Janemba and his power.  Big J is basically rebelling against the most fundamental rules of creation, like an impudent child.  The spiritual waste that made Janemba represents all the bad things done by a bunch of bad people who got sent to hell by Yemma.   My working theory is that Janemba represents their collective outrage at being held accountable for their bad behavior.   So maybe when Pikkon yells at the barrier, it reminds that evil ki that it really is bad and all this Janemba business doesn’t change that fact.
Tumblr media
All that matters to Pikkon is that it works, so he tries screaming more verbal abuse at the barrier.
Tumblr media
The trouble is that he’s only chipping away about a quarter-inch off the surface each time.   He’s gonna be at this for a while.
Tumblr media
Down in hell, Goku is trying to fight Janemba, but he’s having some trouble figuring the guy out.   Earlier, he sent an army of mini-clones to dogpile Goku, and he managed to get rid of them fairly easily.  This time, Janemba waves his hand, and causes a bunch of these jellybean looking things to fall down on Goku’s head.
Tumblr media
Then he charges into the pile like a bowling ball hitting a bunch of pins.
Tumblr media
You’d think Janemba would have a hard time hitting Goku, since he’s such a small and quick target, but Janemba’s quicker than he looks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also has this ability, where he can make portals.  He sticks his fist through and it comes out on the other side, right next to wherever Goku is.
Tumblr media
Also, he can kick really high.  I guess when your body is roughly spherical your center of gravity makes things like this pretty easy to do.
Tumblr media
I almost wonder if the portal thing was devised as a way to cope with Janemba’s design.  Someone looked at this absolute unit and asked how he’s supposed to reach Goku with those stubby arms.
Tumblr media
Worse, Janemba seems to know exactly what Goku is going to do before he does it.   I’m not sure why this is presented like some sort of mysterious ability.  If Janemba can sense ki like most of the characters in this franchise, then he can track Goku’s movements and offensives pretty well.   But it would make a lot of sense if Janemba had some sort of precognitive power on top of all his other weird abilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it’s a two way street.   After Janemba uses the portal trick enough times, Goku has it scouted, and managess to fire a ki blast at Janemba’s fist, and sending it back through the portal to hit the rest of him.
Tumblr media
Then he goes for a Kamehameha while Janemba’s guard is down...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... and then Janemba does whatever this is.   Is that an illusion of Goku, or some sort of time warp of Goku’s actions from a second earlier?
Tumblr media
All Goku knows is that it’s weird, wild stuff.
Tumblr media
Janemba doesn’t seem to know what he just did either, and he finds this very amusing.
Tumblr media
So Goku decides that he’s going to have to settle this quickly.   He turns Super Saiyan 2, probably thinking that would be enough, but then Janemba fires big ki blasts out of the four holes in his belly, like some sort of anti-aircraft gun.
Tumblr media
And here Goku wanted to wrap this up quickly.  Turns out he’s still on the defensive.  Even at Super Saiyan 2, it’s all he can do to stay ahead of the blasts.
Tumblr media
And Janemba can fire at any angle, because he can just roll around to point his, uh... holes any which way.
Tumblr media
From above, Pikkon can sense Goku’s struggle, and he probably wishes he could join in.
Tumblr media
Or maybe he doesn’t, because Janemba’s a lot stronger than he and Goku realized.   So Goku’s decided to pull out all the stops.
Tumblr media
Hell yeah!   See, this is the sort of stuff that Movies 9, 10, and 11 were sorely missing.  Those films all had to contend with the fact that Goku was dead and unable to participate in the story directly, and none of them really found a good solution to that problem.  Movies 9 and 10 just gave up and had Goku show up to help at the end, which is incredibly dumb, because if you’re going to do that anyway then why not have him be there from the start?    Movie 11 teased the idea that Goku would be off having another, much cooler adventure off-screen.
Tumblr media
What makes Movie 12 so great is that they finally figured out the Gordian Knot of Goku staying dead.  If we can’t bring Goku to the fight, let’s just bring the fight to Goku.   They should have just done that from the beginning.   Just have Bojack attack Goku on the Grand Kai Planet.    Have Broly cause trouble in hell, just like Movie 11 suggested.  They went to a lot of trouble to have Broly miraculously survive his death scene in Movie 8, just so he could appear in Movie 10, and it wasn’t even worth it.   They could have just kept him dead and let Goku fight him for two movies in a row.
Tumblr media
But we all know Broly ‘93 would be no match for Goku ‘95.  That’s why you send in Janemba, because he’s the big gun we need.
Tumblr media
Look at how bad ass this is.   Goku to everybody: Come get this work.
Tumblr media
Grimly, Goku praises Janemba for being only the second person to push him this far.   So I guess that proves the Buu Saga happened in this movie, even though Goku’s still dead afterward.
Tumblr media
Then he just looks at Janemba, and in the fansub from when I first saw this movie, he says “It’s a fight from here on.”   That’s my favorite line, right there.
Tumblr media
Then it’s go time.   No more tricks, no more games, Janemba’s in Goku Town now, and he’s about to get taken to the city dump.
Tumblr media
Janemba can’t do shit against Super Saiyan 3 Goku.  He just starts clubberin’ him and Janemba has to take it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he flies really high up and Janemba wonders what he’s going to do....
Tumblr media
... and Goku just dives fist-first into Janemba, just driving his ki right into the dude.    Brutal!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not really clear what all of this is doing to the guy, but all of these explosions can’t be good.
Tumblr media
Goku flies clear of him, and it sure looks like he’s won.   Janemba convulses a few times, but he seems to be getting weaker...
Tumblr media
But then his flesh begins to reassemble itself somehow...
Tumblr media
Goku isn’t sure what that means, but he can sense that something is terribly wrong.
Tumblr media
Uh-oh...
Tumblr media
Uh-oh....!
Tumblr media
Uh-ohhhhhh!  Yeah, that’s not good.
Tumblr media
So Janemba’s alive, and he’s taken on a new form.  This never goes well for the other guy when this happens, so Goku’s probably in trouble now.
Tumblr media
Back on Earth, we don’t really see what Gohan and Videl are up to, but we do follow Goten and Trunks, who have gone back to confront Hitler’s tanks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For some reason, Goten seems discouraged by these odds, even though they can punch tanks into other tanks very easily.  The boys haven’t even turned Super Saiyan yet...
Tumblr media
Oh, well now they have.    What was Goten so worried about?
Tumblr media
I mean, I guess the soldiers can’t really be beaten, since they can just come back to life indefinitely, but you’d think that if Trunks breaks a tank, it stays broken.   Where did Hitler get all these tanks anyway?
Tumblr media
Never mind that shit, because now Janemba’s gonna fight Super Saiyan 3 Goku.   Team Four Star did a countdown of the best fights in 2018, and this was the only fight from the classic movies to make the cut.  Funny how Goku vs. Wheelo didn’t make the list, even though they ranked Movie 2 ahead of this one on their 2015 movie countdown.  Don’t mind me, I’m still bitter.
Tumblr media
I can’t do this fight justice with screencaps, and it’s tough to gif a lot of these shots, too.  Both guys are moving around so much and the action is so fluid and skillfully choreographed.   One of my favoirte bits is when Goku rolls away and plants his hand on the ground, then pushes off....
Tumblr media
... to kick Janemba right in the mush.  Cool!
Tumblr media
But this new red Jameba is tougher than the previous version, and he still has all the powers he used before, like the portals thing.   Goku tries to shoot a ki blast at him...
Tumblr media
And he has to dodge his own attack as it’s directed back at him.
Tumblr media
Goku seems to be able to hurt Janemba, though, so it’s not a total mismatch...
Tumblr media
... Until Janemba starts disassembling his entire body to avoid Goku’s attacks.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure why this is more effective than simply moving at super-speed, but it seems to really have Goku stymied.
Tumblr media
Also, he can shoot enormous ki blasts out of his mouth.  So maybe this is a mismatch after all.
Tumblr media
Back at Yemma’s Pikkon’s made some respectable progress on the barrier, but he’s not even close to finished, and he’s got Yemma griping him out the whole time, and Goku’s having all the fun.   At least he can take out his frustrations on the barrier.
Tumblr media
Here’s one of my favorite shots from the movie.  Goku looks trashed here, but he’s not beaten yet.   Remember, when he used Super Saiyan 3 before, in the Majin Buu Saga, he explained that it used up a lot of his stamina in the living world.  The implication being that it was much more effective in Otherworld, where he couldn’t tire out as easily.   So in theory, we’re seeing SSJ3 applied to its fullest potential, and Goku’s still losing.   Well, uh, he can still use Super Saiyan 4, right?    No, this is Movie 12, we don’t serve that GT crap here.
Tumblr media
As Janemba stalks towards Goku he notices an ogre club on the ground and scoops it up.  I don’t know why it’s so small, but I assume it belonged to one of the ogres who run things in Hell, like Goz and Mez.
Tumblr media
But Janemba can transform the club into an awesome sword.   I get the sense that Janemba can do way, way more with his powers than what we actually see, but he just hasn’t figured out what he’s capable of yet.    He just figured out the sword thing on impulse.
Tumblr media
Goku keeps trying to hang in there, but he’s outgunned now.  Every time Janemba slashes the sword, it shoots out a thin wave of ki along the arc of the swing, which cuts anything in its path.  So Goku has to dodge the blade as if it’s got an infinite length.
Tumblr media
And his best shots aren’t hurting Janemba at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Goku tries taking cover behind those jellybean things, but Janemba can just cut through those as well.
Tumblr media
The attack is just relentless, and it’s all Goku can do to run away now.
Tumblr media
And this leads him in the direction of the blood pond, which is one of the key features in DBZ hell.  Somehow, all the blood is now floating in midair in a cone shape.    I have to assume that’s another side-effect of Janemba’s powers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it’s still fluid, as Goku demonstrates when he falls in.
Tumblr media
As he does, he reverts back to his base form, and he doesn’t seem to be able to move or escape.   I can’t find any information on the mythology surrounding the bloody pond, but I kind of got the sense that in DBZ, it might act as some sort of means to incapacitate unruly spirits.   When the Ginyu Force tries to escape Hell in the Frieza saga, they fall into the pond, and that’s pretty much the end of that.   When Cell leads a revolt in Episode 195, Pikkon tosses them all in the pond, then uses Hyper Tornado to pull them back out so he can fling them into the needle mountain.   So I got the impression that falling into the pond saps your strength.   Of course, Goku could just as easily be worn out from fighting Janemba, so this may be a coincidence.    But I sort of wonder if Janemba didn’t herd Goku into this spot just so he could take advantage of the pond.
Tumblr media
With Goku apparently helpless, Janemba starts slicing off bits of the cone, which then splash away as normal liquid.  I really did this scene, because we can’t see where Goku is inside the pond, so it’s impossible to tell if Janemba has hit him on each stroke.
Tumblr media
Finally, Janemba has whittled the cone of blood down to a Goku-sized piece, so the next swing of his sword will surely cut him in two.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure whyu Janemba is dragging it out like this, but he is comprised of evil spirit waste, so it’s not like he’s above this sort of sadism.
Tumblr media
But then, as Janemba’s ki slice approaches Goku, a ki blast comes from out of nowhere and disrupts the whole thing!
Tumblr media
And Goku tumbles out of the blood somehow, which is a lucky break.
Tumblr media
But who saved him just now?   Who could have saved him?
Tumblr media
Who indeed?
