Fantasy Au Isabella!

Isabella is really fun to draw. In this au, she is Phineas and Ferb’s neighbour who goes around to help them with their daily, magical-tech projects. She is also a sorcerer, and leader of a troop of Sorcerer Girl Scouts. 

Every decent sized town in this world has a Sorcerers’ Guild, an organisation specifically for adult/teenage sorcerers (Sara is a member, for example. Candace could be but isn’t). And for younger sorcerers, there are the Sorcerer Scouts.

Brennan has done a brilliant fucking job with the citadel because it's so magical and so cool and all you want to do is sit in that and reap the benefits and explore the wonder and the magic of it all. Then he will slap you across the face with the reminder that this is a colonialist empire. It will kill or exploit all that does not fit. Anything that is outside of the empire is a threat. It is not a magical wonderful society but one of economic disparity. If you are a spirit your very existence is viewed as a threat and you will be treated as such. Sometimes very explicitly sometimes very subtly. Also you cannot convince me that the Kassov collection does not exist as a constant and quiet threat to all spirit citizens of the citadel.

So when discussing Suvi's actions and whether they are right or wrong it becomes so very hard to disentwine her from that. It becomes such an exercise every time to follow Suvi's thought process, to maybe give her more understanding for the more egregious actions. Truly everytime I do that walk back where I have a particularly strong reaction to one of Suvi's actions the same thought comes through when trying to follow the understanding is that oh she did that because she's empire. She did that because of how she was raised. She did that as an indoctrinated child of the empire unable to see out of the rose tinted glass.

Aabria has done such a fantastic job of creating such a compelling and interesting character and a very very very flawed character. Everytime I think to defend Suvi from criticism I just can't. But two because it's not justifiable beyond saying well she's a child of an empire and has a colonists mindset and therefore thinks what she's doing is correct.

So to conclude Brennan is an incredible world builder and Aabria is amazing at roleplay and has built and incredible character. That said I will never defend Suvi beyond understanding her because shes a colonialist empire baby.

A commission for @noddytheornithopod for adult versions of the Fireside Girls from my Homestuck AU in a big moirail cuddle pile! I like to imagine this is how all their sleepovers turn out ☺️ It was really fun coming up with outfits and stuff for all of them. Image ids in alt text, click for higher quality, extra thoughts under the cut!

So this image would take place in an au of the au where they never played the Game and grew up as normal trolls on Alternia. Isabella would be, at this point, kind of a rebel princess, managing to survive assassination attempts from the Empire and gathering support from trollkind, even managing to take some planets back from the Empire and encourage the development of socialist-democratic societies in those regions so they can sustain themselves separately from the rest of the Empire, even without her direct oversight. The Fireside Girls would be her closest allies, and also act as a sort of bodyguard unit who protect her and each-other. Gretchen’s usually the brains of the operation, Millie’s the cheerful muscle, Holly’s the diplomat (with a small army of bees to back her up if diplomacy doesn’t work), Katie’s the wildcard, Ginger’s the smooth-talking charmer (who is also pretty strong herself), and Adyson’s the one who knows what the heck laws are and how to structure them properly to create a functioning system of government in place of the old empire.

They probably have other outfits they wear for like, battles and missions and stuff, but this is a sleepover. They’re in their pajamas. You gotta wear jammies for a proper feels jam, it’s the rules. Cozy time
