What if

What if duels were allowed again in the future? Not to say that any of the aliens would be surprised by the idea of human competitions, but after learning their story, they would clearly be scared by the actions. As a result, rumors began to spread about a barbaric approach and yet the protection of one's honor according to legalized rules.

It's unlikely that aliens were seconds so often (it is important to know the rules after all), but there were clearly cases! It's worse to find two humans pointing guns at each other in peacetime while several other humans are watching.

A: Have you just been challenged to a fight? Do you have any idea how dangerous this is?!

H: Well... my friend was challenged, and we no longer arrange deadly duels, but knowing the person he insulted... my friend will leave the duel only on a stretcher. I hope we will be able to settle the dispute with a representative of the opposite side.

A: now I'm afraid for all of you

Probably, among all the rules, there would be the presence of a lawyer, a doctor and consents to certain actions, but we are unlikely to find out.

Like, not to interrupt you criminal masterminds at work but are you fucking stupid?

I think this is half the reason Jack hands her the scalpel - she’s proven she is an asset to him in more ways than one. It’s also clear to Belle that Jack is just as cocky a criminal as he is a doctor and his bravado will only carry him so far.
