Does leopard still have 3 lives in her final battle? Or was that changed?
Yep. I think she drowned her once, then Leopardstar lunges up refreshed, and she gets the upper paw on Mistyfoot with 2 lives to go.
(MAYBE tw gore, but I really did try to be tasteful about a head being smashed on a rock.)
On her back, splashing and thrashing furiously against Leopardstar's claws dunking her head under, Mistyfoot glimpses a wave breaking just over the tip of a stone-blue rock. Her only chance.
With a surge of power, her claws sink into her leader's golden shoulder and they tumble and roll to the right. Before the tyrant even realizes what's happening, she's yanked up, and then whipped backwards with a wet CRUNCH
And then again
And again
And again, until Mistyfoot can't even make out what's left of her leader anymore. All she can see is that it's a red, brown, and yellow blur, because her eyes burning with salty tears and her whole body is trembling.
She drops the corpse onto the stone and it slides into the water, lifelessly. After a moment it spasms aimlessly one last time, like an insect does after its head is bitten off, unlike the deliberate, agonized throes of Tigerstar suffering through his doomed lives. And then it's still.
There's only the tranquil sound of bubbling water, and Mistyfoot's frenzied panting. Her pounding heart makes it hard to hear either.
The blood is carried off by the shallow water in scarlet swirls, but the lake runs pale red as if it's washing it away. Some were aware of this prophecy, but Mistyfoot was not.
It isn't closure to her, or a fulfillment of divine decree. It's just blood that should be on her paws, slicked away by the complicit river. She wished it could feel like it's over, but she's smart enough to know the truth. Has been through enough terrible events like this to understand what comes next.
Her body will move foward. Her mind will need to consider her deputy. Her paw will come down on code-defying cats like Blackclaw and Greenflower. But her heart will stay here, next to the remains of Leopardstar, the same way another piece of it remains at Stonefur's side across space and time.

the image of giorno as a no-nonsense boss when it comes to maintaining his power is important and real but i also often think of the side of him that makes naples/italy fall for him.
for one, he didn’t just thanos snap drugs out of naples and call it a day, it was a rigorous and violent project — i’m sure you can imagine the influential drug lords were not keen on losing their chokehold on the community because some 16 year old brat said so. of course, they quickly learned that said 16 year old brat has godlike powers and is not afraid to wipe them the fuck out, but to avoid as much bloodshed as possible, giorno gave them an ultimatum: stop peddling drugs in naples and swear allegiance to him and the new passione, or die. you know. totally fair.
beyond that, though, giorno took a lot of care to invest in rehabilitation programs and facilities and to personally involve himself (as much as he could, man has a lot on his plate lol) in the recovery of the addicts that no longer have access to their substances of choice. many of them were upset with him for forcing this lifestyle change but after a few months, the healing in the community really started to show and he became something of a beacon of hope.
drugs aside, giorno is also adamant about advocating for the safety of children. under no circumstances are they to be involved in gang affairs or even caught in the crossfires if it can be helped, and there is hell to pay for anyone in the organization who dare try to harm or exploit them. he wants as many of them as possible to have bright, fulfilling futures. ironically, he even enforces an age limit to joining passione, making it so no one under 17 can be initiated.
i think giorno, especially in his decision to associate his name and face with his work unlike the previous boss, takes on something of an almost christlike image. hear me out. giorno is clearly portrayed as a christlike figure in canon — his father is named dio, essentially making him the literal son of god. but beyond that, his powers over nature and capability to heal and the way he literally glows with golden light and inspires people to be hopeful and follow him … i mean, look at the material. why wouldn’t that translate into how the people of italy see him? he’s a mafia boss, yeah, but he is a healer, a giver of life, a bringer of hope, a beautiful figure bathed in light.
consider this. an elderly mafioso approaches giorno, clumsily kneels and kisses his hand, and begs for help with an internal conflict. giorno lays a gentle touch on his head, promises that he will live the rest of his life in peace, and heals his injured knee.

figure skater lee know who is well known for his more sensual themed programs. lots of intense choreo and dark costumes. but then one day he shows up in like, a sailor costume and performs something so stupidly light and upbeat that has the vibes of surfin' and everyone loses their mind.
