Oh my goodness! I'm so glad to hear that you've been enjoying my blog! I can't believe I've been running this blog for 3 years today!
What a fun ask (I've been sitting on this so I could use it for today!) I really struggled to pick fics - or more accurately, not to pick ALL the fics! I picked fics that are my go to rereads - whether it's because they make me laugh or because they pull at my heartstrings, or because they're so hot, these are some of my personal favorites.

i saw in ur pinned post that ur into horror & am curious if you’ve extended that into fics at all? do you have recommendations?
i recently got SLIGHTLY into drarry + horror-ish vibes in fics and only read a few but i fell in LOVE with “Yours Is The Earth (Hold On, Hold On)” by chickenlivesinpumpkin - and it was like just the right amount of fucked up & just the right amount of like ‘holy shit??? DAMN’ with normal drarry in it.

Oh, anon, thank you so much! I'm not sure if you're referring to my travel reclists (which badly need updating, wah) or because you saw my (ill advised and rapidly deleted) reply to the rude anon I got the other day who accused me of only reccing my friends' fics. The third ask like that I've had in two years, how delightful! But either way, thank you anon, what a lovely message and it made me feel all warm and appreciated <3
This whole 'you only rec your friends' stuff is especially funny to me because a lot of the fics I regularly rec are written by people I started chatting to because I specifically DMd them like a fangirl after loving something they wrote. So reccing my friends then becomes sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy, iyswim! THANK YOU @wolfpants & @mallstars for tagging me to share a wip snip (please see wolf's incredible wip snip for terrible people — which i am incredibly excited for — here and mallstars wip snip — for draco as a LIBRARIAN, kill me now please & thanks — here)! sorry it took me ~5 million years to get to it, but i am finally revisiting my beleaguered wip post-secret work completion. @mallstars and @queermccoy have given me excellent alpha feedback & am slowly making a plan of attack to fix the damn thing. this snip is later in this scene feat. emotional disaster case Harry and haughty, prickly, and desperate-to-be-loved Draco.
Malfoy gave him a scathing look. “Whatever I said to Ginevra was said without the intent of getting into your good graces and the second I tell what exactly I said, it’ll become about that, at least a little bit. All this to say, I will never, ever tell you.”
Harry narrowed his eyes at Malfoy, and Malfoy picked up his mug again, held it in front of his face, and said, trying to sound haughty and cold, but falling slightly short, “If you’re to … to love me, it’s on my own merits.”
Harry couldn’t look at Malfoy after that, just took another gulp of tea and tried to calm his pacing heart. Could Harry really love Draco Malfoy, who tormented him and his friend for years, who had a Dark Mark, who was nothing like the pathetic dream Harry clung onto of a cottage in the Cotswalds like his parents, like Ron and Hermione? Trying not to sound strangled, Harry said, “Can we just be … friends? Like can we hang out?”
Malfoy bristled. “Malfoys don’t audition, Potter.”
“That’s not what I’m asking.” Harry slammed the mug down, sloshing a bit of tea on the gleaming coffee table, and ran a hand through his hair. “I haven’t … I don’t do this, I’ve never … I don’t know what I’m doing, and you’re so“—and he waved a hand up and down Malfoy’s body, who clutched his mug of tea tighter to his chest, looking unsure if he should be offended or flattered—“bloody gorgeous and obviously funny and … and interesting, but we have so much history and look, we’ve done the shagging thing and it’s obviously great, but I don’t actually know you, do I?”
After Harry’s outburst, he snatched his mug up off the table and drained it, sure Malfoy was about to kick him out of his gorgeous cheerful home. But Malfoy actually looked to be thinking Harry’s proposition through. He ran his finger down the handle of his mug over and over, considering Harry.
Eventually, he just said, “Fine.”
“Fine?” Harry said, hardly daring to hope.
“Fine. Fine, but,” Malfoy brandished a finger at Harry. “I won’t be waiting for you like some damsel-in-distress. I’ve been through too much to wait around for someone to decide if I’m good enough for them, even The Chosen One.” His voice dripped with disdain.
Harry frowned his direction. “I’ve been through a lot too!”
Malfoy sneered and Harry was forcefully hit with the reminder of the Malfoy he hated. “I’m not turning this into a competition of who has suffered more, Potter.”
“Well, if it were, I would win,” Harry muttered darkly.

hi i’m trying to find a fic i read a few years ago on ao3, it’s not smutty, and much of the story sets in a library. i think it’s a university library but i’m not too sure. i can’t remember if it’s non-magical au or sets in post-war drarry going to muggle university. either they both frequented this one library OR one of them is a librarian. this isn’t much to go on so sorry but i remember draco & harry flirting/antagonizing each other in a typical drarry fashion through the borrowed books, like they left these little messages inside the book for the other to see. thank you!

Happy Friday to all, but especially my fellow Tortured Poets!
Don't you love when the stars align to make something beautiful for you? That's what happened with my Happy Hour rec for this week.
Our Objective Remains Unchanged by @citrusses (46,147 words, rated E)
Harry Potter, returning member of the Oxford University Boat Club, has two goals for the spring of 2005: beat Cambridge, and beat Draco Malfoy. Perhaps not in that order.
I've been in a bit of a fic rut - and definitely not because of a lack of great fic options - but nothing was hitting right for me at this moment in time. Finally, in my marked for later list, I came back across Citrusses' fic, and was thrilled to finally read it. I'd been looking forward to it for a long time because I love Citrusses as a writer. It just so happened to be a perfect pick for the album drop I've been looking forward to as well with it's academic setting and Tortured Poet Draco.
For someone who doesn't enjoy any sports whatsoever, I've recently found that I adore sports fics. The competition and camaraderie provide a setting and tension that I really enjoy and this holds true with rowing as well. Citrusses' dialogue made me laugh out loud several times while reading and the building tension of Harry and Draco's relationship (for good and bad) kept me absorbed in this fic.
Most of all, I loved how Citrusses wrote college students. I so clearly remember being 19-22 and the uncertainty and anxiety that I constantly felt. It's hard to suddenly be expected to be an adult, but have so little experience at it. Citrusses wrote that feeling in a way that was realistic, but gave her characters grace when they made their mistakes.
Even if you are not a Tortured Poet, I think it'd be impossible not to enjoy Citrusses' fic. And if you are a Tortured Poet, once you've finally finished analyzing all the lyrics you should definitely come give this a read to keep those vibes going!

1. @sitp-recs, who everyone knows is rec royalty. How many of us owe Liv at least part of our fandom experience? The amount of love and energy poured into every single rec is honestly astonishing. bibliomancy by redsnake05 - listen ok just LISTEN. yes this is irma pince/minerva mcgonagall. yes it is also irma pince/helga hufflepuff. just. LISTEN. this is one of the most unique stories i have ever read in this fandom. the writer created this whole lore where librarians are like. these otherworldly eternal beings and it follows irma pince's immortal life as she tends the hogwarts library and just. i love it. i love it so much.

Notes on a resurrection by newleaves - ok this one is a drarry fix-it fic where unspeakable draco malfoy accidentally raises harry's dad from the dead. and harry's mum. and harry's favorite dada teacher. and--well, u get the picture. i am not kidding when i say this is one of my favorite fics EVER like ever ever ever the lovely @simmy75 recommended it to me and i am now eternally grateful to her bc it altered my brain chemicals permanently. Like. i will try not to go on and on but this is one of the most beautifully and uniquely written stories i have ever read!! it is complex and confusing and feels like trying to put a puzzle together because draco is SUCH an unreliable narrator and just!!! please go read it. even if u are not a drarry fan this fic is AMAZING
Of Memories and Milk Thievery by moonymoment (@blurryayse hi jude i already yelled at u abt how much i love this) - this is the most recent like. longer completed marauders fic that i've read and it!!! is!!!! so!!! good!!! perfect balance of angst and sweetness and jude's writing makes me run around in circles like a dog chasing its own tail. remus + sirius are exes co-parenting teddy + they are both so petty that it leads to shenanigans + confrontations + tears + a poorly-thought-out parent-trap style plot by teddy + harry.

A Darling, A Demon, A Lamb by brightened - this one is a very dark alice/lily first war fic told from lily's pov. very very heavy so please check warnings + everything if u decide to read - i love angst and i love dark fics and this is beautifully written so i'm kind of obsessed <3 currently on hiatus but the day it comes back i will be devouring it posthaste
when it's warm again by moonymoment (@blurryayse hello again jude. i have only made it through the first two ch of this i think but rest assured that i will once again become a cat dragging dead birds to ur doorstep once i have time to sit down and finish it <3 ) - another moonymoment fic!! because nobody is doing it like jude!! mermaid remus and human sirius <3 kicking and screaming and jumping up and down and chewing on my fingers. OH MY GOODNESS I'M FANGIRLING SO HARD RIGHT NOW!!!! HELLO DRARRY LIBRARIAN!!!! I promise I'll answer the question but seriously I want to say thank you so so so much for all you do. You are one of the backbones of this fandom, truly.
*clears throat* Anyway.
17. What Hogwarts subject would you teach?
I would teach History of Magic but I'd try to make it fun!! I think history can be really fun and interesting when you use it as a means to better understand the present and see if you can prevent the same bad things from happening again. I think the Wizarding World could really really REALLY use a look back at its history since they have such a tendency to repeat it.
I think it's a shame that Binns is such a boring teacher, because the generations he taught sure could've benefitted from learning a lot about the first war, and relations between Muggles and Wixen, and all of that. And maybe a better understanding of—I dunno—the history of magic could've helped someone like Draco who was probably spoon-fed propaganda as a child. Or even fuckin Voldemort!! Whom Binns TAUGHT.
And don't just teach the nuts and bolts! Have conversations! Talk about systemic oppression and bigotry, and how they influence modern society! History isn't just memorizing dates; it's a comprehensive understanding of the story of humanity.
Yeesh, sorry I really just went on a little rant there LOL this just never occurred to me before about Binns/why students might not have really learned from him. Of course, Binns is not really to blame for all of this, like he obviously didn't do it on purpose. But I think it's sad that no one thought, "Huh, maybe we should get someone to teach this class who can generally keep students engaged or—at the very least—awake through lessons. We should make sure students have a better understanding of our history so this doesn't happen again because of misinformation and ignorance."
Good thing this is just a fictional problem!! Right guys? Right???
......Soooo yeah to answer your question I'd teach History of Magic 😂 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING!!!!

I just want to pick up a fic where harry isn't needlessly cruel to draco in an attempt to make him worthy of any love because of past canonical events. Especially when draco is painstakingly written to have worked so, so hard to change?I am so tired. And ridiculously triggered because you CAN'T filter these out 😔🙏... How do i refine my reading experience? There are no tags for this. The scenes just lie buried in fics. And i have spent so much TIME getting through long fics only for draco to be treated so poorly. It's such a common occurence! Or harry doing something really fucked up without consequence and draco being so accepting because he feels guilt. Like a casual use of veritaserum and then asking really invasive questions outside of what they agreed to be asking each other in what was supposed to be a safe space for the both of them. Or harry just sometimes casually being violent or angry in a way not necessarily part of the narrative... it's just something he does?
I'm not averse to harry with anger and trauma, this is why Balance, Imperfect, Heal Thyself, and A Sword Laid Aside are such treasured reads to me. It's just that they make sense...
So much of the fandom's fics will have something like this... like a really crude violation of draco's boundaries in popularly "wholesome" fics as a stepping stone for the romance. As them getting to know each other? But it really isn't that though... is it.I'm sorry, it's just NOT my thing. I don't know how to filter such things out. How do i keep a respectful distance away from such fics?
I respect the catharsis people find and seek with such scenes and pieces!! They're perfectly valid. I used to be just fine with such a relationship dynamic because they are undeniably good reads. And again, cathartic to see draco on the other end of the stick. But life just happens and somethings i can't enjoy anymore. I just don't know how I'm supposed to navigate my way around them.
Do you have authors that write these two with a more balanced perspective? Or maybe fics that deal with their hurt and pain and trauma with consideration but doesn't end up feeling like either harry or draco have to hurt the other more?
Also, l think you're one hell of an archivist and librarian when it comes to fics. Do you have any tips on how i can find the stories for me and peacefully navigate the ocean of fiction within the drarry tag?
Hi anon! I think I’ve received a shorter version of this ask a while ago but can’t for the life of me find my response so I’m not sure if I’ve already done a specific rec list for you. I love those long fics you mentioned, they all have excellent character arcs.
I totally understand where you’re coming from because I share the sentiment - and I’m pretty sure I know which fic you’re referring to re: the invasive Veritaserum scene. I’m sorry you’re having a rough time trying to filter those scenes out. As you said, they’re buried deep within the fics and to be honest I don’t think there’s an easy way to tag them, because characterization is very subjective and creators might see this topic differently. I might not come off as someone picky because I read and rec lots of stuff but I’m particularly sensitive when it comes to emotional imbalance in fic - I don’t enjoy characters being mean for the sake of it or taking advantage of another character written as meek/pitiful, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I try to avoid those if I can. Now I think about it, this might be one of the reasons why I’ve shifted away from long “redemption arc” fics and have been reading more “friends to lovers” and shorts recently, as I find them more emotionally satisfying. Hmm 🤔
Unfortunately I can’t offer any tips in terms of tag filtering - I think that would be extremely difficult and frustrating, especially if you find it triggering. If I were in your shoes I’d solely rely on rec lists made by people in whom I trust and crated within those parameters. Or just avoid the redemption arc altogether and focus on fics where they’re already in friendly terms? I wish I could help more because even a rec list would eventually end and chances are you’ve already read all the ones I have in mind. Let’s see if my followers have any interesting tips that might be helpful in this situation!

Summary: Harry Potter arrives on a Friday afternoon.
The sun is shining outside, and the Hogwarts grounds are covered in purple and white crocuses; the first yellow daffodils peeking timidly from behind the trees.
Spring is beautiful this year, Draco thinks, and yet, there’s a dark grey cloud, rumbling ominously and leaving a big puddle right in the middle of the staffroom.
The cloud appears to be right above Harry Potter’s head.
Okay, I genuinely feel so utterly spoilt, but also still in disbelief that @pato-roldnart decided to do this collab with me for @hpdrizzle and that they did not one, but TWO amazing pieces for it (please have a look at their stunning art post).
