Finished Doors of Eden. It was actually pretty good. My joke last time that it was exactly His Dark Materials but without using the power of friendship to kill god was even closer than I expected: god was dying anyway and they had to use the power of friendship to pick up where he left off
As the book started explaining why all the different parallel timelines existed and how it was all put together, it was a very cool bit of insane worldbuilding. None of it really made sense if you think of how the many worlds hypothesis typically plays out in fiction, but then the book acknowledges and explains that as the third act twist. And then the writing as the timelines splintered was very cool. Hard to explain, but vaguely like the Knives Out approach of refilming scenes with the additional information included (since that's fresh on my mind)
It was also extremely funny that the minor hetero love triangle drama was resolved by the second woman proposing that maybe they could just try polyamory

#REVIEW: The Doors of Eden, by Adrian Tchaikovsky
#REVIEW: The Doors of Eden, by Adrian Tchaikovsky
The headline to this post is a lie; this is not going to be a review, not even by my standards. This is just, like, me waving this thick-ass paperback around and squeeing at people. I love Adrian “Spiders” Tchaikovsky a hell of a lot, and he approaches if not exceeds Brandon Sanderson levels of prolific, so there is an awful lot of him out there to read, only I don’t feel like I talk about him in…

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Short Mission 11... You have been warned...! 👌
[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]
Today's chapter may have been a Short Mission + a Special Illustration, but it may have given us some interesting tidbits to think on...! 🤔 So let's talk about it, shall we?
First up, let's discuss the Special Illustration:
Tumblr media
🥲 Why, Endo...? WHY ARE YOU HURTING ME LIKE THIS...!?!? 💔😭💔
The Special Illustration is of Anya looking at the front door of the orphanage that she was left at and it really has this very melancholic feel to it... 😞 In fact...
This may be the saddest Special Illustration we've ever had in the series thus far... 😢
It makes me wonder if we're going to be getting more information on Anya's past soon...? 🤔
Now let's talk about the Short Mission...!! 👍
Tumblr media
It starts by letting us know that it takes place when Anya was first going into Eden Academy...! 👀 This is somewhat of a first because the Short Missions usually don't state when they take place, but, there are some that can you clearly tell where they are supposed to be placed in the story...! 😁
Then, we learn that this how and when Anya gets her name plate for her bedroom door...!!
Tumblr media
It makes sense that Anya would want a door plate because she saw it in a cartoon!! 😄
And when she gets it, this is how she carves her into it:
Tumblr media
Which is not only how it was written in the early chapters...: (As seen here in Mission 10:)
Tumblr media
But... It's also how Anya's name was originally spelled in the first translation of the manga...! 😲
Some time after, Twilight brings up the misspelling of her name:
Tumblr media
AND THIS IS HER REACTION:
Tumblr media
Then, we see that the name plate was changed to "Anya"...:
Tumblr media
And finally, we end this Short Mission in Anya's room laying on her bed like this...:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHY DOES THE END OF THIS SHORT MISSION FEEL REALLY SAD TO ME...!?!? 💔😭💔
Is "Anya" not her really name...? What does all of this mean...!? 😫
And that was Short Mission 11... Usually, Short Missions are just fun mini adventures, but this one (and it's Special Illustration) have a very melancholic feel to me... 😓 And like I said earlier, this could potentially have something to do with Anya's past, maybe in the near future...? 👀
Anyway, this was a very interesting Short Mission that I'm curious to see if it'll play a part into the overall story at all...!! 😄 So until the next Mission... Take care, be safe out there, be kind to one another...!! Later!! 🤗
P.S.: I didn't get around to doing a review for episode 33 of the anime because I was extremely tired yesterday... 😩 Hopefully, I'll get around to writing it today...!! 😊

Sky iceberg tier 1: Braids
Tumblr media
Full iceberg
TGC: Stands for “thatgamecompany”, the developers of Sky.
OOBs: Stands for “out of bounds”. Going out of bounds (or OOBing) to see cool things, or skip doors that would usually require multiple players to open, is an iconic part of Sky culture. The most popular ways to OOB are the chibi fall and the table clip.
Office: A secret area in Vault based off of TGC’s IRL office. You need either the office cape or a friend with the office cape to enter the area— if you’re not wearing it, the barrier won’t open, unless an event is happening there.
Traveling spirits: Seasonal spirits coming back for a short period after their season is over offering what they did during the season in their shop, so that skykids still have chances to wear cosmetics from past seasons. Lots of Sky culture is based around continuously grinding currency to afford everything from them.
Moths: Slang for a new player in English, as their brown capes make them resemble moths. I hear in other languages it’s “sparrow”!
AURORA: A Norwegian singer whom Sky has collaborated with many times— first to add her vocals to some parts of the game (the opening breath and many tracks that play after dying in Eden), second to get her own season focusing more on her original music, ending with a massive 50-minute musical voyage, and most recently an encore of said musical voyage in celebration of Sky being at gamescom.
Journey: TGC’s third game, before Sky. The games are similar in many ways, and there is a lot of adorable fanart of the skykids and cloaked guys meeting.
Beta: A version of Sky used to bug test and review upcoming features of seasons, events, and updates, at the feedback of testers.
Oreo: In prairie, there is a door that requires 8 players to open. Once opened, in the area there is a shrine which requires 7 players to activate its feature. Once activated, out pops Oreo, the dog of one of the staff. You can ride him while he hops around. He is very cute.
Spirits are genderless: Canonically, all spirits are agender.
Ascended capes: In the base-game constellations, after reaching the top of a spirit tree of a spirit with a cape, there is an option to ascend their tree an extra time, which will unlock the ascended cape. They are the base-game capes but with an extra flair, and they are all three times the price of the normal cape. They are not required to reach 100% with the constellation or summon the realm’s elder in Orbit, they are just there for bored completionist veterans.

Fic: Brotherly Duties
Fandom/pairing: Glee, Kurt/Blaine
Event: December Klaine Fanworks Challenge 2023
Words: ~700 words
Rating: Mature
Summary: Kurt gets a package from Cooper in the mail.
Notes: This is part of my Mormon!Klaine universe. It takes place after Out of Eden, which I am still in the process of posting to AO3. It’s among the likely possibilities for their future.
* * *
Two months before Blaine returned from his mission, Kurt received a package in the mail. “Special delivery from Cooper Anderson,” his dad said, handing it to Kurt in the kitchen. “Easter Peeps?”
It had become a thing with them. For Kurt’s return home from his mission, for Pioneer Day, for Labor Day and Thanksgiving and Christmas and Valentine’s Day, Cooper made it a habit to regale Kurt with Peeps. Kurt’s dad had thought it was a little odd at first, but Kurt had explained it away with, “It’s sort of a thing from our mission,” followed by, “Also, he’s weird.”
Kurt’s arms buckled from the unexpected weight as he took the package from his dad. “That feels heavier than Peeps, Dad.” The package wasn’t heavy, exactly, but it was at least a couple pounds—not the scant ounces that marshmallow and thin paperboard should weigh.
His dad shrugged. “I thought so too, but I didn’t think this Cooper guy knew how to mail anything else. I mean, I know I’ve seen him on TV, but with all these packages you’ve gotten from him, I’ve kind of started to picture him in my head like a giant PEZ dispenser—which I know doesn’t exactly work, Peeps are marshmallows and PEZ are solid, but still … You swear he wasn’t a PEZ dispenser when you met him?”
“Scout’s honor, Dad.” Kurt considered the padded envelope in his hands. Through it, the contents felt stiff and rectangular.  “It’s probably a bunch of signed headshots for me to share with friends and family. That’s his idea of a generous gift.” Kurt tore open the flap, peeked in, and immediately closed the envelope back up, feeling his cheeks betray his embarrassment. “Never mind. I'll open it later.”
His father gave him an amused look. “The head shots are that bad, huh?”
“Something like that,” Kurt said, standing up from the kitchen table and heading toward his room, where he closed the door and locked it and considered putting a chair under the handle for good measure. But no, that was silly. He was a grown adult. This was nothing to be ashamed of. Besides, his parents respected his privacy.
Instead, Kurt pulled the chair up to his desk and sat down, sliding the contents of the envelope out onto the desk. A hardcover copy of The Joy of Gay Sex made a loud thumping noise as it fell on to the surface.
There was a note, too:
Bought this for my brother—I even inscribed it to him!—but then I realized there was no good way to get it to him in Germany. Too high a chance of it being intercepted by someone in his mission, and who knows, customs would probably charge him duties on it anyway. I felt vanquished and without hope. But then I realized this was all for the better. You're the one he's all hot for, and I'm pretty sure you’re going to pounce on each other as soon as you possibly can after he gets off the plane (gets off, get it?), so you really better know what you're doing. This book actually has mixed reviews from my gay friends, but it was the one most of them mentioned when I asked for recommendations, and it’s illustrated, which I think will be very helpful. I hope you don't still have Mormon hang ups about every picture of a naked body being porn. I looked through the book, and I thought the illustrations were very educational and not too raunchy at all. Of course, if you want to jerk off to them, that's your business and nobody else’s. Have fun!
Kurt's face was on fire all the way to the roots of his hair. He put the letter in the shredder and opened the book. And indeed, there was an inscription to Blaine on the title page:
Blainey— Not being knowledgeable in this area, I hand off some of my older brother sex-talk duties to this educational volume. One tip I can give you: you'll probably want to let up on the hair gel a little during times of intimacy, particularly for certain acts in which your lover is likely to want to grab your hair. Trust me on this one. —Coop

Eden Part Two
Part one linked in my pinned
TW: captivity, referenced stalking, pet whumpee, intimate/creepy whumper, briefly referenced self harm
"Let's get you a hot shower and a change of clothing," his captor suggested. "Then a good meal."
Ezra had long since stopped crying, but his eyes were still puffy and red rimmed.
"Alright, sir."
"Stand up."
Ezra rose to his feet, and imediately stumbled. His captor caught him and granted him support.
"Come along."
His captor continued supporting Ezra with one arm as they walked down the only hallway in his small home. All of the doors were identical, made from pale wood.
Everything in the house was pale. From the light beige carpet to the pastel sea scape paintings.
It was a soothing, and a bit maddening. Much like the smell of lavender settling in Ezra's every pore.
"What's your name, sir?" Ezra asked.
"I want you to call me sir, or master if you prefer."
Ezra was not going to call him master. That was taking things a step to far. Sir would do.
"I will sir, but I would still like to know it, if that's alright. I think it would help me feel closer to you."
A small smiled unfurled on his captor's face.
"My name is Christopher. But you are not to use it unless I permit you to."
"Yes sir."
Christopher opened the door to his bathroom and held it open for Ezra. Ezra sat down on the closed toilet seat as Christopher walked in, leaving the door open.
"I have a clean change of clothing for you."
Christopher pulled a set of fuzzy looking cotton pajamas from the drawer of a standing cabinet. From another drawer he produced and hand towel and a bath towel.
He set them on the sink counter. Unlike Ezra's, it was clear and clean, with toothbrushes and soap tucked away in drawers.
"Here." Christopher gestured to several bottles on the shelves lining the powder blue shower wall. "I bought you some curl safe shampoo and conditioner. It came well reviewed so I hope it works for you. If you need something different, tell me. And there is the body wash. You aren't allergic, are you?"
Ezra shook his head. "That sounds good sir."
"This is your bathroom. I have my own in my bedroom. So feel free to use anything in here if you should need it."
"Yes sir."
Christopher smiled and turned on the fan before slipping from the room, closing the lockless door behind him.
Ezra turned on the bathtub faucet, bringing it to a comfortable temperature, then he pulled up the lever to redirect the water to the shower head.
He stripped off his decade old t-shirt and ripped jeans, then his socks, boxers, and binder. Christopher had already confiscated his cheap boots.
Flipping off the lights before jumping in the shower was a well cemented habit, Ezra having no desire to look at his all too female body.
He meticulously lathered shampoo in his hair, and rinsed it out, relishing the complete absence of Christopher's affection.
The body wash was lavender scented. Of course it was. Ezra decided he hated lavender, despite how stress relieving it was.
As his fingers began to prune up, he grew sick of the water. He turned off the shower head, then the faucet, before stepping onto the soft bath mat.
Was he allowed to keep his old clothing? The answer was probably a hard no.
He dried himself off, his hair taking several minutes to become reasonably damp due to its habit of soaking up an annoying amount of water.
He flipped the light switch on and blinked a few times, adjusting his eyes to the sudden brightness.
After he could see properly, Ezra unfolded the pajamas Christopher had left out for him. Sandwiched in between them were a pair of boxers, a pair of socks, and a binder.
Ezra slipped into the clothing, and found it didn't bother him on a sensory level, being made of his prefered cotton material. This whole situation creeped him out, but it was swiftly getting worse.
The long sleeved pajama set was fuzzy and warm, and Christopher had even bothered to cut the tags off. The new binder fit him better than the old one.
And how did Christopher know Ezra was transgender anyway?
He had implied that he knew where Ezra lived. "I considered taking you from your bed, of course."
Had he been making a sport of peeping in windows? Or of stalking Ezra on social media?
Ezra was stuck in the home of his deranged stalker, who seemed intent on making sure he was happy and comfortable. He would almost prefer being tied up in a warehouse somewhere.
He immediately reminded himself of how stupid that was, and that his current situation may be deeply uncomfortable but it was also easier to deal with than actual torture.
All he had to do was convince his new 'master' that he loved him right back. Not an easy task by any means, but at least he had a plan.
After finding a comb and brush perfect for his hair type under the sink, he tore the tangles out of his hair, roughly beating it into order.
He knew he ought to be gentler, but being rough got his frustration out along with his desire to self harm in a razorless bathroom.
Ezra practiced smiling in the mirror. Delighted, gleeful, bashful, loving, content.
None but the bashful smile were very good, so he decided to use that one until he could get more practice done.
He left his clothing on the bathroom floor for Christopher to deal with and walked out of the bathroom.
"I'm in the kitchen," Christopher called.
Ezra followed the direction of his voice and came into a small kitchen and dining room area adjacent to the living room with a door separating them.
Ezra finally realized that Christopher's house didn't have any windows. Not in the living room, or the kitchen, or the bathroom.
Perfect for captivity.

The Sex Games!
Inside Team RWBY's room.
Ruby: I'm bored
Yang: Me too. Do you want to hit things?
Ruby: No
Weiss: Why don't you review what we saw in class?
Ruby: Ugh, no
Blake: I can lend you one of my books.
Ruby: Do you have comics?
Blake: No
Ruby: Then no. I want to do something fun.
Their door bursts open.
Bleiss: How are you sluts?! You girls want to win a lot of money?!
Weiss: Bleiss, what are you doing?!
Bleiss: Relax sis. I'm only promoting the contest that I create.
Yang: What is the contest about?
Bleiss: Contestants will play multiple party games. One by one they will go out, until only one is left victorious. The winner will receive $100,000 in cash!!!
All the girls in the room, except for Weiss, were shocked to hear that amount.
Yang: $100,00 in cash!! Holy shit!!
Blake: With that money I could eat all the fish I wanted!!
Ruby: I could buy all the accessories for my baby with that money!!
Weiss: You guys get excited for such a small amount of money?
Silence
Ruby: ....Shut the fuck up, Weiss.
Yang: Where can we sign up?
Bleiss: Hold on, there is something else I must mention to you. The losers of each round will have a punishment. The closer to the end they are, the greater the punishment.
Ruby: Are they like dares? What kind of dares?
Bleiss: *Smiles* Something like that and is a surprise. Don't worry, it's not bad. It's pure fun for everyone!
Weiss: I don't trust that smile. What are you up to?
Bleiss: I'm not plotting anything. I just want to give away my money and have some fun. We girls need time to have fun and unwind.
Ruby: "We girls"? Guys don't participate?
Bleiss: Nope, it's for girls only.
Yang: I'm in!
Blake: Me too!
Ruby: Me three!
Weiss: Seriously, you girls want to participate in a contest that my sister created?! The same girl who rented Jaune for…obscene things!
Bleiss: Hey, there are a lot of girls who want a piece of my Jaune, who am I to deny them the sweet fruit of eden. Also two of your teammates, I won't say names, they are still my clients~
Weiss: What?!
She turns to look at her team and none of them look at her face.
Bleiss: So are you going to join them or what?
Ruby: C'mon Weiss, don't be boring!
Yang: Yes Weiss, loosen up a bit!
Blake: Leave her, she's a proper girl, she doesn't know how to have fun.
Weiss: What did you say?!
Blake: You heard me.
Weiss: Fine! I will join your stupid contest.
Bleiss: *with a dangerous smile* Excellent, when everything is ready I will send you the location where the event will take place. I just need to get more contestants. See ya~
Bleiss walks out, leaving the girls alone.
Yang: Did she mention what the contest is called?
Ruby: Nop, but we can ask her later. What would you two do with the money if you won?
Yang: Well...
While the girls talk about what they will do with the money. Weiss feels that something is wrong with this contest.
Weiss: (What are you up to sister?)
----------------------------------
I had this idea for a while after watching a Derpixon video. The idea is almost the same as that video but I plan to do it my way, step by step. Each new part of the story will lose someone and they will receive a punishment. From the name of the title they already know what types of punishments they will receive. If you have suggestions for games for large numbers of people, please share them with me in the comments. I know some but not many, and your ideas would save me time.

Ineffable Husbands Fic rec #1
Thought I'd share some of the fics I enjoyed reading over the past week or so.
Those are all on Ao3 and completed. Click keep reading for the links and summaries.
From Eden (Just to Sit Outside Your Door)
Summary: “Tell me you want this too Angel. Tell me that this is more than just a dream because I have dreamt of you for too many nights already.” He paused. “Tell me this is real, and I will worship you and only you for the rest of our days.” “That’s infinity my dear.” “I know.” - Or: A look into Crowley and Aziraphale's love through the ages, expanding on some known exchanges and adding some new.
Pining and Posturing
Summary: When Gabriel proposes an angelic bond to Aziraphale and won't take no for an answer, Crowley challenges him to a competitive courtship instead - and while Heaven considers courtships a mostly private matter, Hell's delegation to the Ineffable Parley certainly isn't going to politely ignore an Archangel walking into the negotiation room bearing an unauthorized demonic geas.
A Fine Taste
Summary: When a guest repeatedly asks for a declaration of the ingredients used in his dishes, Chef Crowley is stumped. Things might become a bit clearer once he learns that famous critic A. Z. Fell has written a review of his restaurant.
I Am Made Of Longing (This Is Not An Adieu)
Summary: After the thwarted Apocalypse attempt, when Crowley and Aziraphale were the least expecting it, that is, when their guards were finally down, was when Heaven and Hell struck.
By mutual agreement, Gabriel and Beelzebub had snatched them both from their Earthly lives, from their friends, and from each other. Every single memory of their divine and occult past existences entirely wiped out from their minds.
Aziraphale was since then stuck in a tasteless life he’d grown to accept, but whose every second lived was breaking him a bit more. He’s nostalgic of something he can’t pinpoint, something he feels he hasn’t known in this life. It is making ripples below the surface of his mind, but he’s not sure that he would be able to recognize what it is that he is looking for. Or even if he is aware that he is looking for something.
Crowley’s fighting his way through life, fire of revolts ever burning in him. He’s the walker. He’s looking for something, or someone, to quench his anger. Why is he so furious all the time? He’ll carry on looking for an answer, any answer, one fight at a time.
sanctuary
Summary:
“You’re staring.”
“Oh dear,” says Aziraphale, completely unapologetic. “How rude of me.”
Crowley begins to smile something slow, bright, and lovely, but he schools it with a bite to his lower lip. Aziraphale thinks of the way he looked two millennia ago, pressed up against the wall with Aziraphale's blessing healing his wounds, the only demon to experience divine ecstasy and live to tell the tale. How Aziraphale's hands itch to do it again, and again, and again. Crowley opens his mouth as if to say something, but then stops and spins around instead to go back to stirring the curry.
“Shut up,” he says to the stove, flustered.
If It Weren't For You Meddling Kids
Summary: Anthony Crowley knew moving to Lower Tadfield with Warlock Dowling, his newly acquired fulltime responsibility, would be a change. He expected the battles with Ikea and the pre-teen troubles coming his way.
He did not expect the angel running the bookshop (metaphorically at least).
He also did not expect four meddling kids teaming up with his kid to try and set him up with Zira Fell, with all the trope-y drama that entails.
(Anthony would also like to stop having nightmares please)
One thing is for sure, living in Tadfield is going to be interesting.

Book Blurb: Starling House is a gorgeously modern gothic fantasy from the New York Times bestselling author of The Ten Thousand Doors of January. I dream sometimes about a house I’ve never seen….
Opal is a lot of things—orphan, high school dropout, full-time cynic and part-time cashier—but above all, she's determined to find a better life for her younger brother Jasper. One that gets them out of Eden, Kentucky, a town remarkable for only two things: bad luck and E. Starling, the reclusive nineteenth century author of The Underland, who disappeared over a hundred years ago.
All she left behind were dark rumors—and her home. Everyone agrees that it’s best to ignore the uncanny mansion and its misanthropic heir, Arthur. Almost everyone, anyway.
I should be scared, but in the dream I don’t hesitate.
Opal has been obsessed with The Underland since she was a child. When she gets the chance to step inside Starling House—and make some extra cash for her brother's escape fund—she can't resist.
But sinister forces are digging deeper into the buried secrets of Starling House, and Arthur’s own nightmares have become far too real. As Eden itself seems to be drowning in its own ghosts, Opal realizes that she might finally have found a reason to stick around.
In my dream, I’m home.
And now she’ll have to fight.
Welcome to Starling House: enter, if you dare.
Review:
A gorgeous story that fills like a mixture of Alice in Wonderland and a gothic fantasy! A girl who has dreamed of a mysterious house all her life finds herself drawn to the mysterious heir of the home, yet the house of plans of it's own and monsters that reside in it. Opal has been surviving all her life, through tricks, thieving, and doing whatever it is needed to provide for her younger brother after her mother's death. The only thing that has her attention besides all of this is Starling House. The house that haunts her dreams. Starling House is famous for being the home of E. Starling, a reclusive nineteenth century author of The Underland, a disturbed children's book, who disappeared over a hundred years. Everyone thinks that house is trouble and that the mysterious shut in heir of the home is just as strange. Arthur is the misanthropic heir of Starling House, he's the Warden of it... and he plans on being the last one. He knows that the House calls to people, making them dream of it, making them come in and when they are here they will be forced to deal with the deadly creatures of Underland, that are very real. Arthur doesn't want anyone else to die and be trapped in this role, yet he can't seem to turn away the liar and thief of a girl who has bombarded into his life, demanding to be let into the house. The more Arthur tries to protect Opal from the secrets the more she tries to dig in, it doesn't help that other people want into the house too and are willing to threaten her to betray him. How far will Arthur and Opal go for Starling House, can they even make a relationship work when there are so many lies, betrayals, and secrets between them? This was such a unique gothic fantasy story with hints of Alice in Wonderland and is perfect for fans of Gallant by V.E. Schwab! Opal is not a likable character, but that's what makes her great, she's willing to do whatever it takes to survive and take care of those she loves. She's smart, she's ruthless, and she's just trying to survive. Arthur is so sweet, he's trapped but can't help but want to connect to someone, yet e wants to protect her at all costs but his duties weigh on him. They are both so interesting and the overall story was great!
*Thanks Netgalley and Tor Publishing Group, Tor Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Do you know any fics where other demons see Crowley as a really skillful and cool demon? It didn't matter whether he was actually cool or not.
In that fic, I mean😆 In my eyes, he will always be the coolest demon😤😤
Here are a few fics in which some of Crowley’s fellow demons admire him...
An Exception to the Rule by Fire_Traveller (G)
When Crawly is summoned to Beelzebub for another performance review, he is surprised to find another demon waiting in front of their office. As it turns out, this demon isn't very high up in Hell's pecking order, despite the fact that there are countless copies of him. A brief conversation between this copy of Eric and Crawly quickly turns the disposable demon into quite a bit of a fan of the Serpent of Eden...
Turning Over a New Leaf by in_deepest_blue (T)
Eric has admired Crowley for the longest time — who wouldn't? The stylish red-haired demon seemed to have it all. But there was yet another reason, one that he wouldn't dare tell other demons: he thought that Crowley was rather kind, actually.
Kidnapped on a Friday by Raphaela_Crowley (T)
On a Friday, roughly two years before the birth of the Antichrist, Crowley kidnaps Aziraphale, shoving him into the back of the Bentley and driving away.
Aziraphale's fine with it, really; for him it's just a typical day with Crowley.
But Gabriel and the other archangels think he needs rescuing.
Wackiness ensues.
Immigrant Blues by CopperBeech (T)
When Hell discovers that the Demon Crowley has turned, it's the wrong time to let it slip that you're a fan.
Crowley’s hand steals into the angel’s. Fuck. I’m not going to be thanked for breaking up a personal moment. I wait to see how far this is going to go –
–– and a weight slams me down flat, face in the gravel, dust up my nose. I struggle, try to throw off whoever Hell’s sent, not now not after all this, jerk an elbow back, hear a whoopee-cushion explosive exhale. I get my head up in time to see Crowley turned back to look at us, the angel with one hand on his arm, leaning close, speaking in his ear.
“Oi! You! Weren’t you in the front row? Down there?”
The angel says nothing, dangerously. Cute, cuddly and not to be fucked with.
Angelic Bonding Rituals and Accidental Gates to Hell by Misty_Floros (T)
A demon comes knocking on the bookshop door in the middle of the night in order to alert Crowley to a certain Duke’s schemes.
Consequently, Crowley and Aziraphale come up with a plan involving a Heavenly ritual and a chapel built over a gate to Hell.
dearly departed by attheborder (T)
Finally, Aziraphale spoke. “You mean to say— you got us married?”
“Just as a precaution, I never really thought I’d end up discorporated again, it’d been ages, you just don’t get stampedes or assassinations like you used to —”
“You got us married, and you didn’t tell me?”
***
Crowley gets inconveniently discorporated. And it’s not like it’s ever been easy to get a new body, but this time around, things really aren’t looking good. His new innuendo-obsessed lust-demon of a coworker honestly isn’t helping things.
Meanwhile, Aziraphale has a dead body to contend with, and an occult mortician & his very normal daughter to fend off. What lengths will he go to in order to get Crowley back to Earth?

Safe Area Goražde by Joe Sacco
The Way of the House-Husband, vol. 1 by Kousuke Oono
SAGA vol. 1-6 by Fiona Staples and Brian K Vaughan
Top of the Top:
Born a Crime was probably my favourite non ficition, and most of that probably is due to Trevor Noah's narration skills. It was very entertaining and heartfelt.
Less uplifting but just as gripping in a different way was Empire of Pain. Excellent book that went deep into the why and what and hows of Purdue Pharma. Anger inducing.
Lazarus Heist is great and available as a podcast. The book is more or less the podcast word for word.
Fictionwise: I read Trust at the start of the year and it was a bit soon to declare as favourite of the year, but it's stil made the final cut. Just very imaginative and intriguing. Just my kind of MetaFiction. Clever without being cleverclever.
Demon Copperhead I read right off the back of Empire of Pain so maybe that coloured my experience. I've not read any Dickens so loads of references no doubt flew past me, but the language was acrobatic and zingy. I loved it.
Wrapped up the year on a high with North Woods. That was so unexpected and entertaining. Again with the playful language, memorable characters and a unique approach to tying all the various stories together. One that sticks in the mind and makes the writer in me wonder how I can replicate his style (with my own personal twist of course.)

In the meeting, they discussed the expectations of the company from the students. It was no secret that their concepts were so edgy. Their photographers and videographers were absolutely amazing. All the students' goal was to at least reach their level if not more.
Jihyun was fairly confident in her work. She knew it wouldn't be a huge deal for her to get perfect pictures and edit them just the way they liked. But her confidence crumbled when they mentioned that Jihyun and the other student, Jeremy, needed to be around more because they will also be clicking the pictures of the idols on the regular basis for their Instagram and other social media sites.
The students were required to join them possibly everywhere the idols go. Being around the idols for this much was waking up the new anxiety in Jihyun's guts. Being around Seonghwa was already so difficult for her. But she needed to brace herself and act like a professional if she wanted to achieve something in this passion of hers.
With these thoughts, Jihyun was roaming around the corridors of the building to make herself familiar with the new environment. There were tiny directions given around for the students' easy passage to the rooms and studios.
She was in the private studio area, where idols had their own little places to practice their vocals and create music. The most used studio was Hongjoong's followed by Eden's and MADDOX's. There were many other producers too. It was a beautiful and cozy building. But today, the corridor was quiet. Some were back at their dormitory and the others were reviewing the audios of the new ATEEZ album.
Jihyun's steps halted when she heard someone moaning. The rational part of her brain was screaming at her to leave the corridor and do something else. But curiosity got the best out of her and she followed the moans.
She stopped in front of a studio room that was specifically for Seonghwa. The door was slightly open. Rather than stepping away, she opened it a bit more without making any sound. But the scene left her mouth wide open. The tears immediately pooled around her lids, threatening to roll out.
There he was– Seonghwa, ramming into a girl from behind. They were sideways, the girl was bent against the wall. Her hair was nicely tucked in a bun. Her breasts were out of her blouse and in Seonghwa's hold.
"Fuck me harder, please," she moaned out loud.
Seonghwa felt the light cool air hitting his legs. Looked at the door, finding the girl from the meeting looking at them fucking with wide eyes. He saw that Jihyun's eyes were looking at where his cock was disappearing in the girl who worked as a junior makeup artist at this company. This made him moan out loud.
Jihyun's eyes snapped back at the idol. To her surprise, he was looking directly into her eyes. The chills ran down her spine. She abruptly moved away from the door and ran away, almost falling while taking the turn.
This whole situation triggered Seonghwa's orgasm. He emptied himself in the condom and let go of the girl who fell on the floor, too tired to stay up. Being the rude self, he didn't help her.
"Clean yourself and leave within five minutes. I don't have time for this shit," he said and tucked himself after cleaning and sat in his chair.
Seonghwa had a weird feeling about this student. He felt like he saw her somewhere but his lust-eaten brain could not put a finger on it. He was too rotten and addicted to sex to remember anybody who was not important.
Jihyun managed to spend her day at the company without stumbling across Seonghwa. While she was going away, Hongjoong and MADDOX were standing around the lobby and asked her if she could take pictures of them– which she gladly did.
Now she was back in her dorm room, sitting in the darkroom with her laptop on top of her stomach. She was editing the pictures she clicked for the two friends. During the meeting, their manager gave the two students the email ID for all the idols where they could send the end product.
Jihyun felt disgusted at herself. How could she think that she was someone different than others; that Seonghwa chose her to fuck. No, no, she was like other girls who gave in to him and let them be a hole for Seonghwa to use. Her fragile heart crumbled apart.
"Jihyun, you are an idiot! Why would you think you were special!?" She frustratedly mumbled to herself and pulled her hair.
Shutting off the laptop after completing her task, she thought of sleeping it away. But it didn't help when her dreams were filled with Seonghwa fucking someone else.
It was shocking for Jihyun. She never thought that Seonghwa would be like this. He never had any scandal going around. He was respected despite his rude attitude. But she was not going to judge, he was an adult who had needs. But she was shocked that she gave in to that need.
"I won't do this again," Jihyun said to herself before leaving for the company the next day.
.....
Sanaa's note:
Hello there, Goodies. I hope you all are fine. Well, I found out that Jimin's brother's name is Jihyun. I didn't know that it was a unisex name. But well.

2022 Year End Fic Review
I was thinking of doing one of those ask memes for the year in fic and then my beloved @monroesimons tagged me in this, so fate clearly wanted me to wax poetic about myself.
1. What is your AO3 account?
It’s CrimsonPetrichor, because 17 year old Zainab had recently binged the entirety of Matt Smith’s first season as The Doctor and she needed everyone to know it.
2. How many words did you write total in 2022?
46,316 words! Full on absurd for me, particularly given the three years of writing drought that preceded all of this.
3. How many fics did you publish in 2022? How many multichapters vs oneshots?
Seven fics on AO3, plus a handful of small prompt fills that stayed on Tumblr. Only one fic was a multi-chapter, because I am too cowardly and not disciplined enough to commit to them regularly.
4. What was your longest fic? Your shortest fic?
Longest: by land, by sea, by dirigible, which clocked in at 18376 words
Shortest: of the ones published on AO3, it’s the way you sound in the morning (828 words), but overall it’s a Ty/Tandy prompt fill that was just 218 words
5. What was your most popular fic? Your least popular fic?
Purely using kudos as a metric, a friend of any sort (the craigslist fake dating AU) was my most popular, and by land, by sea was least popular.
6. What fic didn’t perform as well as you thought it would?
Listen. I rolled up to a fandom one year late and people still saw fit to read and enjoy my work. Things are grand.
7. What fic performed way better than you thought it would?
Two answers for this one: when I published love on rewind (everything is so throwback-ish), it was my first fic on AO3 in more than three years and it had been about a year since the show aired and I had no idea if anyone would read it and then they did! And they enjoyed it! And that was wild.
Also, I can’t answer this without mentioning if you got the notion (i second that emotion), which I basically wrote in a fugue state and then published at like, 1 AM, and then??? People really, really dug it and I’m still surprised by how well it was received. What I’ve learned is that all of us as a community want to see Sam and Bucky in Hallmark movie situations and I love that for us.
8. What was your favorite fic you wrote from 2022?
Specifically chapter 5 of by land, by sea is one of my favorite things I’ve written in years, I think.
It gave me so much trouble and I went through so many variations and then I woke up at 6 AM on the morning of my birthday and wrote nearly all 4500 words of it in one sitting. It’s atmospheric and emotional and I got to throw around some historical references and play with magic and it’s a piece that I know exists in its best possible form, which is a nice feeling.
9. What was your favorite fic that somebody else wrote in 2022?
Emma (birdhapley) wrote a professors AU for The Bedlam Stacks, i know it's just a number, but you're the eighth wonder, that might be one of my favorite fics I’ve ever read. The world is so perfectly translated and the characters are so clearly themselves and everything down to the excerpted reviews for all the professors and the characters’ texting styles feel right and make perfect sense. A masterclass in writing in general and AU-building in particular.
I also really adored Mak’s (bisamwilson) angel/demon AU, i slithered here from eden (just to sit outside your door), which has just So Much Pining and fun historical moments and allegory and millennia of devotion and like! Truly! What more could you want!
Everyone should read them both immediately regardless of your familiarity level with either fandom.
10. Tag your friends to do this year-end fic review as well!
With full permission to completely skip out on this if you wish, I’m tagging @birdhapley @bisamwilson @philtstone @ankahikoibaat @avocadomooon @urlbending

“i don’t have anyone anymore.” / “you have me.”
Varric visits Hawke after the Arishok fight.
There’s not many things Varric can admit to doing at five in the morning. Usually, by then, Hawke has gone home for the day, and Varric can finally sink into his bed and relax, away from the mages and the Templars and whatever bullshit Hawke managed to find herself wrapped up in. It isn’t often he finds himself standing at her door, holding a bottle of wine like an idiot, just staring in hopes that something, anything, will call him back to the Hanged Man and he can leave this stupid, idiotic idea behind.
What was he even thinking? She’s probably long asleep. The most he can do is place the wine on her desk with a bullshit heartfelt note and leave it for her to laugh at in the morning. He almost got mugged three times on the way here. Was it even worth it?
He should go home. He should definitely head back home and—
“Maker’s breath, Varric,” says Hawke, opening the door, clad only in her deep red robe which hangs off her shoulder haphazardly, revealing quite a bit of skin. “Will you just come in already?”

Fake Boyfriend (book 3): Deke by Eden Finley
OLLIE
Word of advice: don't come out to random guys in public restrooms. Even if they're charming and adorably nerdy and offer to help.
My family believe I can't be happy if I'm not out to the world. I have a bitter ex-boyfriend and an unstable NHL career to show for it. A fake boyfriend seems like an easy and quick solution to get my family off my back, and this guy is volunteering. I take him up on it without asking his name.
I really should've asked for his name.
LENNON
Word of advice: learn how to introduce yourself properly.
In my defense, I don't recognize Ollie Strömberg right away. I cover football, not hockey.
I'm not supposed to see him again, and he's never supposed to find out I'm a reporter.
That all changes when my editor reassigns me.
It's a lesson I should've learned by now. Nothing's changed since high school. Jocks still hate nerds. But even worse, athletes hate journalists. Especially ones who know their secret.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
Ollie has a problem. He's hiding in the restroom at a restaurant from his loving family who are still concerned many months later about him and his break up with his ex-boyfriend. They are also the family that is very supportive of him being gay and wonder why he just won't tell the world. But to Ollie, it's not that simple. Not for a professional hockey player. He can't and won't be the first to come out. He may have lost his ex for that reason, but hockey is everything to him. He won't lose that. Luckily for him at this moment, Lennon walks in the door. And in a weird and witty conversation, Ollie finds himself asking Lennon to be pretend to be his boyfriend for the next hour to get his family off his back. Lennon is happy to help but the moment he steps out there, he realizes two things. One, that the guy he thought was hot and helping out is the famous Ollie Stromberg hockey player. And two, Ollie didn't ask for his name and has no idea that he is a sports reporter. The dinner goes as smoothly as one can expect. The family know Lennon as Clark and him and Ollie go their separate ways (despite the fact that they connected). And months later, they are thrown together once more but not in the way either expected. Ollie can't believe he not only outed himself to a sports reporter but this is the same guy who has been writing about him and his career. It's not the happiest of reunions but Ollie can't stay mad forever. Not when he gets to know Lennon and realize that he is actually a great guy. And though they both know nothing can truly happen between them, they can't help but seek the other out. Ollie and Lennon were such a fun pair! Lots of chemistry and the story went in some unexpected directions. Especially near the end! This is a fun series so far and I'm glad I have a bunch left to go!
