I think I'm ready to start posting the big wip i've been working on! it's not done but it should be polished enough to kick things off. I'm very nervous about it but also excited.

I'll probably post the first chapter tomorrow or Saturday.

Clasping his hands behind him, Yu Wenzhou stares out into the Guangzhou skyline gleaming under the harsh midday sun. Spring has arrived and it’s brought with it the first wave of relentless heat. It won’t be long until the sweat at his hairline drives him indoors, but for now he takes in the beauty of golden light reflecting off the spires of his city. It’s still his city, at least for now.

“I was thinking what I’m going to do with my life if this is permanent. I can’t stay here.”

From the edge of his vision, Huang Shaotian freezes with his mouth wide open.

wip wednesday

trying to pull myself out of my writing slump and get back to the de-aged ywz fic

Choosing a seat is automatic. He’s used to sitting quietly in the shadows during the rare occasions the training camp goes out with the team. His feet walk him towards the place furthest away from the spotlight, away from where everyone’s eyes are naturally drawn.

“Wenzhou, Wenzhou, over here!”

Huang Shaotian’s voice stops him in his tracks. He’s standing with his hands on the back of his chair, not yet sitting. The seat next to him is conspicuously empty.

I spent all of the afternoon reading (and doing a very very quick editing pass) over all 40k words of my wip. still not sure if that was a productive use of my time but maybe it was. it did serve to help me refamiliarize myself with that is written, and I was surprised by how much more it hangs together than what I was expecting.

I very rarely forget what I write but ngl every once in a while I get taken by surprise. today's surprise was encountering the line "Wei Chen has come to Blue Rain" in my wip. I had completely forgotten about that. guess I have to actually write the follw up scene to that, now.

wip wednesday

since I am now officially looking for anyone who wants to beta 60k words of de-aged ywz fic, have a wip wednesday snippet that is not angst.

The food starts coming and soon the table is weighed down by more dishes than they can possibly finish on their own.

“Did you invite another team and not tell us?” Song Xiao asks around a mouthful of steamed fish. 

“Nope, you just you lot. You think I can afford to feed another team? Little Lu alone is going to eat us out of house and home.”

Lu Hanwen nods, his cheeks stuffed like a hyperactive chipmunk preparing for winter.

hi blog, happy friday!

I'm typing this on my phone with one thumb and one middle finger because I cut my other thumb while chopping carrots oops. (at least I will get tasty homemade broccoli cheese soup from my pain)

I've mentioned before that the writing is sluggish this week. I was going to try and write this morning but then at 7.17am I remembered I have a 7am work call. sadly, no writing got done.

I'm hoping to wrap up work a bit early today and try again to edit the naked foot soaking fic. it's getting close to done I think! I was intending to post it for kink bingo but lol now that I look at it, it may not fit the d/s square it was intended for. I'll make a final judgment call once it's done. let's be real though, I've always played fast and loose when it comes to prompts.

I'm also looking forward to continuing word of honor. this show has completely sucked me in and I am loving every second. it's so fun!! I also started watching the zhu yilong tomb show between woh episodes, so I don't burn through them too fast. it's also a fun show but it may get too sad for me. we'll see.

this weekend, i need to make a decision about the wip big bang (I think I still have time haha but I'll double check) for my deaged ywz fic. my biggest argument both for and against joining is the same point: it will put pressure on me to finish.

I'm about to brew some afternoon coffee! have a good weekend everyone!

100 days of writing: day 4

guess who’s writing new words today! it me!

not many words, but new ones, so i’m counting it. i’m not doing snippet previews because i’m writing the epilogue so spoilers, but i think i’m kind of becoming happy with this wip. i trimmed some of the excess words dragging down the narrative and while i’m still not sure i’m writing from the correct character pov, that’s a problem for future lynne.

i have the epilogue mapped out and I know what scenes I have to include, now I just have to write the stupid thing. I estimate it’ll take around 10k words. And then I have probably another 10k words of plot/scene holes i need to fill.

this will put me at around 70k words for the whole fic. (possible an additional 5k if i decide to put in a sex scene, which i am still debating. I’ll probably only do if the the kind of emotional catharsis i’m looking for can only be achieved with nudity, orgasms, and the inherent vulnerability of letting yourself be seen).

Anyway, I’m super curious to see what the final wordcount is going to be.
