hello my friend!! if u are still doing the made up movie meme!!!!!! lucas jade zumann, gugu mbatha raw, sebastian stan, james hong (they manifested with a very specific Vibe into my head but i am fascinated to see what you will do with them)
SONG: “Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)” by Pet Shop Boys
“If you've got the inclination/ I have got the crime/ Oh, there's a lot of opportunities/ If you know when to take them/ You know, there's a lot of opportunities/ If there aren't, you can make them”
SUMMARY: NEW YORK CITY, 1899 - Ezekiel Smith (Lucas Jade Zumann) has not had an easy life. After growing up in an orphanage and bouncing from one dangerous factory job to another for his entire childhood, at 18 he’s finally found some stability working as an errand boy and assistant for an aging, eccentric watchmaker in a shop on the Lower East Side. Before he can get too comfortable in his new life, though, his employer is found dead in his ransacked workshop.
Prior experience tells Zeke to get as far away from this situation as possible before he gets the blame—or worse, gets himself killed—but there’s something else entirely telling him he’s got to avenge his boss’s murder. Trying to investigate on his own quickly goes wrong, however, and he’s lucky that a mysterious bystander (Sebastian Stan) helps pull him out of harm’s way at the last second before a bomb goes off. The man introduces himself only as The Sentinel, a member of a secret organization that protects the world from threats that most people can hardly imagine, let alone believe. Zeke’s erstwhile employer was a consultant for The Organization, helping to investigate a series of bombings using incredibly advanced incendiary devices which are currently baffling the authorities. Whether he likes it or not, Zeke is now at the center of The Organization’s case, leaving him little choice but to lend a hand to the man who saved his life and his enigmatic colleagues—The Steward (James Hong), who keeps an eye on all of The Organization’s strange cases and secret agents across New York City, and The Guardian (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a mysterious figure who seems to be pulling the strings at The Organization (when she isn’t waxing poetic about how much she misses Baroque music and something called...disco?). The closer Zeke and the Sentinel get to discovering who is behind these attacks, the more danger everyone at The Organization is in and, for the first time in a very long time, the more determined Zeke is to protect the closest thing he’s ever had to a purpose—or, for that matter, a family.

a list of favourite encounters with people I’m unlikely to ever meet again
just a list of interesting people I’ve met/been friends with :) I was thinking of a few of them today and thought it probably would be interesting to write them down.
I had a friend in our children’s choir called Elise(?) who had silky blonde hair, very cool glasses (can’t remember the shape or colour but I remember thinking they were cool), and who smelled very distinctly like grape juice. We smiled at each other during rehearsal once (we were both new!), sidled up to each other, and she asked me if I wanted a Starburst. I said yes please. Instant friends. Never saw her again :(
brisk, stressed-looking lady at our favourite noodle shop; ALWAYS looked stressed so my dad always made a point of telling her that the food was very good
one of my church’s youth leaders (who moved away a long time ago). He was one of the few people who took me seriously in middle school, and actually talked to me about books. He had the cutest little girl with the curliest brown hair, and would often raise his eyebrows wryly when people commented on his bald head. I remember asking him about The Girl Who Could Fly and whether or not The Golden Compass was worth reading, and he answered my questions very seriously.
another one of my former youth leaders, this twenty-something German student called Linnea. I thought she was one of the prettiest people I’d seen. She was very friendly, very outspoken, and talked to me about choosing to follow Jesus one youth night. I really liked her, and I also really liked that she told us we could talk to her about anything. She left before I had the bravery to open my mouth, though.
I had a childhood friend called Lucy and we shared a secret hideout. It was very exciting. Once she came over to give me this gigantic rock that had a plant growing in a little hole. She moved away before I could say goodbye, and before I moved out of that neighbourhood, I used to drop by our secret hideout to make sure it was still there.
speaking of childhood friends: one was called Lisa. She had gorgeous black hair (very long) and always came to church in the prettiest dresses. She was very good at art and once showed us tiny flowers she’d sculpted out of clay. She could speak fluent Chinese (she was part of the Chinese service) and I really liked her. Unfortunately when I last visited my hometown, she didn’t remember me at all. It was a very awkward conversation.
my third grade teacher was the BEST. She was a comfortable looking woman with black hair and blue eyes, and reminded me of both Marilla and Mrs. Lynde. We had mandatory knitting hour every day and went for runs in the forest every week. She had a little wooden book cabinet with glass doors, and I would borrow books from them every once in a while. She chose Because of Winn-Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux for our novel study unit, and read both of them out loud to us. (She read the whole of Winn-Dixie in a very convincing Southern accent.) Every single one of us had our own set of knitting needles, ball of yarn, and knitting bag (she and another elementary school teacher made knitting bags with drawstrings for each and every one of us). She was the only teacher I had in that school who could calm down the restless kids, and who showed the ADHD/ADD kids compassion. When she gave you That Look you knew you had to settle down and behave. I went to visit her many years ago and found out that she’d gone in for chemotherapy - I heard later on that she’d fully recovered. I hope she’s doing well.
my fourth grade teacher (part 1). I can’t remember his name, but I remember he was VERY tall, Caucasian, and wore a sweater and a name tag on his first day. The first thing he did with us was sit down on a desk and ask us our name and something interesting about ourselves. I told him that I really liked books. He asked me which ones. I said Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Narnia. He asked me about my opinion on other Roald Dahl books. He listened to ALL of us very intently, and we warmed up to him very quickly. At the end of our introductions he went around and repeated all our names and our interesting facts. I had never felt so understood before.
my fourth grade teacher (part 2). The first one switched schools after one or two weeks, and we had Miss Payson come in. She was also comfortable-looking, with short brown hair and purple glasses. She had a purple knitted hedgehog, and spoke very kindly to all of us. We had a mandatory creative writing session every week, where we would go to the computer lab and type for around an hour. I asked her permission once to write a story about her hedgehog, and she said yes. (I was VERY happy for the rest of the day.)
my fifth grade teacher (part 1). The first was an Italian lady with black hair to her shoulders and a matter-of-fact approach. The restless kids who liked to talk back got her riled up on several occasions, but most of the time she was very calm and practical. She taught us to write comparison essays (I did one on wild vs. farmed salmon and it was a horrible essay.) She told us she was going to get married in the summer. Are you going to invite us? asked one of the boys. No, she said, and laughed. Once, a boy in my class took Jesus’s name in vain (she told us right off the bat that she was Catholic) and a steely look entered in her eye. She told him very quietly that she didn’t want to hear any such language in class, and he apologised to her immediately, rather chastened. I did some creative writing with her, and she was the first teacher to tell me that she looked forward to seeing my name on a bookstore shelf one day. I will never forget that.
my fifth grade teacher (part 2). The second was a lady from Ghana who had two children she loved telling us about, and had a very bubbly and passionate personality. She read to us in class, was VERY good at math, and often directed a certain look at us I now call an ironic glance.
this wisp of a girl with long brown hair and a slight nervous look called Valentina. She always looked nervous and a little unhappy, and I never got the chance to ask her why.
a friend from middle school with short red hair (very wild! very beautiful!) and freckles. We were both into The Hobbit when it came out, and collaborated on a novel for NaNoWriMo in 2013(?). It was a bit messy and we never really finished it, but I remember how insistent she was that we help the main character realise that the world was still a beautiful place. (I loved her for that.)
my old band teacher in elementary school, back when I could actually play clarinet. He was British, wore the same black earrings every class, was very tall, very thin, and very kind. He never once yelled at us for playing badly, or for getting distracted. Band was so much fun with him. I can’t tell you how many times we practiced King Arthur’s March, but I can tell you that it was a LOT.
someone I saw when I got off the train one day. I was on the way home, the train doors opened, and I saw the most beautiful pair of eyes I had ever seen. I don’t remember his face at all (I don’t recall any other features of his) but I do remember that it was late afternoon, and the sun struck his brown eyes. I could see the gold in them. It was an enchanting experience.
a whole GROUP of people I dearly wanted to be friends with: this boy who I thought must be some sort of fairy: rectangular wire glasses, very floppy dirty blond hair, angelic smile, insisted on wearing a pageboy cap and clunky boots, played violin like it was as natural to him as breathing. He was a very friendly person. His sister, who also had short hair and glasses - the kind of person whose enthusiasm is contagious. (When she talks to you, you can’t help but smile.) Also another of his possible relatives (I don’t know... they were both blonde, tall, and had similar hair): this slender, elf-like girl with a pixie cut who had black combat boots, and an endless supply of flannel shirts and dangly earrings. She was into Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who (I was always at the edge of my seat, wishing I could chime in with an “I love them too!” but I was never quite brave enough). Another girl was always dressed in black (with matching purple lipstick and ALSO black combat boots), and talked about the books she liked and didn’t like (Brave New World wasn’t worth reading, she said one day). A younger girl with bouncy blonde hair and these GORGEOUS blue-green eyes. I didn’t know that people’s eyes could actually sparkle until I saw her. She was the life of the party, and was incredibly charming because she didn’t seem to be aware at all how charming she was. OH and a girl who looked like she’d walked right out of the 1940s: red lipstick, curly ginger hair, beauty mark, with an incredible singing voice. She was in love with La La Land and Phantom of the Opera (very valid) and was the darling of the group (you could definitely tell why: she was well-spoken, bright-eyed, generous). And a very tall, very quiet boy with dark curly hair who was very talented at any kind of art. Very fluent in French (French was part of the vernacular in this friend group... they sometimes slipped in and out of it and I would just sit and smile, somewhat confused). Also very kind. I remember he once asked to look at my sketchbook (I was vibrating with nervousness the whole time. You know when you’re in middle school, and want validation SO much? Or maybe that was just my social anxiety) and when he finally handed it back, he said something nice and smiled. I instantly felt more at ease. He was also a friendly person, the kind of person you could sit with for a long time in silent companionship. Also very, very kind - and more of an action person than a talking person.

So you want to write an OC for the Witcher franchise? Want to write a verse? I have a couple of tips and pointers for you that might be of help!
disclaimer/credits:
This post COMPLETELY ignores the Polish TV series since they’re a joke and should not be taken into consideration when working on a Witcher verse/OC.
Credit goes to @snarkomancy and@vanbredevoort for all the help and tips about mages and some about witchers that I had forgotten.
Lore:
The books and the games are your friends, and so is the wiki. Haven’t you read the books or played the games? (What are you waiting for?????) It doesn’t matter, the wiki articles are a life saver. And if there is something you don’t understand about them, you can always ask your local Witcher buff. Try not to stray too far from the lore, nor make your character interfere with canon things that happened. (I’m talking mostly book-wise, since game wise, the lore can be quite malleable.)
Book!Triss and Yennefer:
Yennefer has the curliest hair to ever curl, is tiny as heck and will do anything/everything to save those she loves.
Triss has chestnut hair and blue eyes, as well as a massive scar on her chest that prevents her from wearing revealing outfits. She’s also selfish and a coward.
Witchers:
While witchers are powerful, they are not almighty. They learn from experience which is why many of them die in the field. They age slowly but no one knows just for how long they can live since no one ever heard of a witcher dying of old age.
-The oldest witchers, at the time of the year 1275 (the time of Blood and Wine), can be up to 325 years, give or take.
-The youngest a witcher can be is around 80-90 years old.
Ages can vary, but you will not find a 30-year-old witcher in the year 1275. For several reasons, the different schools (Griffin, Wolf, Cat, etc) stopped creating witchers. Some of those reasons are: Monsters are dwindling, therefore witchers are no longer required. People learn how to live with some of those monsters, the sentient ones that can be reasoned with.
In the particular case of the Cat school, it was disbanded by unhappy yet powerful people. Those witchers had become assassins and sellswords, something that a witcher was never supposed to become.
In the particular case of the Wolf school, a mob attacked the keep way before the events of The Witcher 1 and everyone within that keep died with the exception of a young Vesemir. But since Vesemir was only a fencing instructor, there was no possible way he’d be able to resume with the Trials for he didn’t have the knowledge.
There are NOT female witchers. Female witchers ARE NOT a thing. Speaking of the fantasy world, it could be a sexist thing, or it could be a merely biological thing. Only 3 out of 10 males survived the Trials, and no female survived. The alchemical formulae for the Trials and mutations, had the same base that changed a little with each school, gearing towards what that school wanted from their witchers. But those formulae were never meant for females and the sorcerers involved in those mutations and formulae were never interested in turning females. “But what about Ciri?” You ask me, and I tell you that Ciri never ever went through the mutations. The Wolf Witchers merely fed her mushrooms and infusions that helped her metabolism, but there was no Trial involved. She was merely trained in sword fighting and theory and practice by the witchers. Nothing else. HOWEVER. It IS possible for a female to be trained by witchers, just like Ciri was. If the witcher allows this, they will train a female in the art of sword fighting and share their knowledge on monsters, ancient and not so much. And given that females trained by witchers did not undergo the mutations, they do not have yellow eyes or any other characteristic of a witcher that comes after the Trials.
On that note, after the trials, witchers are, like sorcerers, INFERTILE. And their eyes are ALWAYS amber eyes. Feline amber eyes, because that way they can see in the dark. Witchers ONLY have amber eyes, they cannot have some other colour.
Witchers do most, if not all things for coin. They need the coin to eat, to buy supplies, pay the blacksmith, feed their horses and many more things. The job for a witcher is scarce, a witcher will not work for free or be there to advise you on your life. You hire the witcher and after the job is done the witcher is more than gone from that village/city/town.
Like I said, jobs for witchers are scarce, therefore there can’t be a rich witcher. Witchers can barely live on what they do. They scrape for coins. They are poor and they DO NOT REMEMBER THEIR FAMILIES. They might have a little something that resembles a memory, but that’s about it.
Witchers were abandoned children, or children picked up from the Law of Surprise, ripped from their families. But they do not remember said families or if they ever had one, to begin with.
Witcher elixirs wear off after some time, and they cause impotence soon after it wears off. They need some time for that to be over.
Witchers are able to cast magic, but their signs are basic at best. Mages make fun of them for this.
It is not said, but there is a general guess that a witcher finishes his ‘studies’ and earns his medallion in his late teens, early twenties. Which is when they go out to the Path for the first time. At this time, while they are powerful and have all the knowledge needed to fight a monster, they lack the street smarts. The smarts that they gain with years of being constantly around people other than their instructors or friends. So a young witcher in his early twenties will be clumsy, will probably die due to a stupid mistake. And from then on he’ll only gain scars from mistakes. A witcher starts to actually get a feel for his job around his 50s or 60s.
A witcher will not win a fight against a magician. The only possible way for a witcher to have a fair fight with a magician is if the magician is not well versed in the art of hand to hand combat or sword fighting and chooses not to use magic, or if the magician in question already used magic enough to drain them of their energy. Otherwise, the fight will be won by the magician, no exceptions.
Witchers are very well versed in many monsters, and they will always try everything before fighting. Fighting a creature is the last choice for a witcher, or at least that’s what it’s taught to them.
A witcher is supposedly stripped from all of his feelings with the mutations, this is so that they do not feel pity or regret for those monsters that they kill. “But what about Geralt?” You ask me, and I say that Geralt was a special case, he suffered from Main Character Syndrome, and since he was able to endure the basic mutations very well, magicians put him through even more mutations, giving him the white colour of his hair. Supposedly those mutations failed which is why he got to keep his feelings, or at least most of them. Now here’s where you can play around, to some degree, with what your muse, as a witcher, can or can’t feel. But remember that your witcher will not and cannot be overly sensitive, cannot and will not be over emotional. They don’t feel much. What a regular human feels as mild emotion, is a strong emotion for a witcher.
Magicians:
Boys: Ban Ard in Kaedwen Girls: Aretuza in the island of Thanedd POLITICS. LOTS OF POLITICS.
Magicians are more powerful than witchers, that is for certain, as I stated before. They use elemental energy (never fire, for it is very unstable) and they are the conduit for it. They do not run out of power but they get very tired because shaping and directing that energy the right way is hard and painful.
It is said that women are better for magic than men.
Jewellery is not for aesthetic purposes only, it channels power, therefore they cannot remove it.
There are places of power in the world, and a mage can identify them by feeling a tugging or pulling sensation or merely observing cats, for they are sensitive to that and like to sit on them.
Ban Ard and Aretuza are boarding schools and students ARE NOT allowed to leave until they don’t finish their studies. It is not known for how long they remain within the schools.
Magicians are most certainly ‘ugly’ before they are taken in into the schools, where they are fixed with magic.
Magicians are not powerful when they are young and just left the school they come from. They, like witchers, gain experience over the year. It is said that they start gaining political power around the age of 70.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, FOLKS. IF YOU WANT SOME HELP YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO POKE ME OR @vanbredevoort FOR MORE LORE GOODNESS <3
