Mixed thoughts on del Toro Frankenstein after the latest update, I think Garfield and Issacs rolls would be better reversed, Issac less so I think he could do either but idk I am not 100% seeing Garfield as Frankenstein. I also didn't think his performance in Angels in America would be as good as it was though so I have some confidence.
My real concerns pop up with it being announced the the character Mia Goth is playing is the Bride, I love the Bride and Goth will definitely do a good job but this means that the adaptation will stray wildly from the books. I was really hoping we would get a mildly accurate version, but the Bride throws the plot so wildly off course and I don't really know where she will be added given her role in the original movie is so brief.
Also, love Christoph Waltz but I am worried a stacked cast will mean bigger roles in the story for these actors throwing the plot further afield when Frankenstein and the Creation should be the main constants along with maybe Walton and Clerval but I doubt that is who Waltz was cast as.
On the other side, the stressing in recent interviews that this will be an exploration of the father son dynamic is good news in that at the very least my hopes that the Creation will be humanized well seems a likelihood. Accuracy aside my first point of scrutiny will be if the movie picks a side, given ambiguity is literally the point of the book so both Frankenstein and the Creation better be well rounded and sympathetic which seems well in Guillermo del Toros wheel house at least.

I'm currently rewatching Good Omens 2 (because how else am I supposed to cope?) and I'm still too shock to be coherent, but here are some of the reason why I absolutely adore the first scene:
The wonderful CGI
The music
The fact that they knew each other pre-Fall
Angel!Crowley's pure joy, innocence and Tenth Doctor's energy
Aziraphale's disappointment when he realizes Crowley wasn't adressing him when he said "look at you, you gorgeous"
"How much trouble can I get into just for asking a few questions", which painfully reminds me of "what has hector ever done to me?"
Crowley covering Aziraphale with his wing? POETIC CINEMA
I was so excited and moved the first time I watched it without knowing what was coming and it's so delightful I'm sure I'll never get tired of seeing it time and again 😭

Tales of Origin
Part 3: Anima
Tumblr media
When Azazel and Gaia created the Origin, they brought live into their Universe. And as always with these things, live has to come to an end one day. So Gaia dedicated the Ethereal, as a place were the dead could go to reenter the Soul cycle and prepare for their next incarnation. But the cycle was not complete, with Gaia and Azazel as Incarnates of begining and existence, there was still one Old One missing. There was no Incarnate of endings.
Gaia knew that this was a problem, Gods are supposed to be physical representations of their Domains and stabilize the naturally chaotic nature of the Universe, but the Old Ones hold even greater power. They each are Incarnates of one part of the circle of Existence and without even one of them, the very Cycle of Reality becomes undone, new things struggle to begin, existence becomes uncertain or things can't come to a proper end.
And so Gaia went into the Distortion, the last of the Planes of existence, created by Giratina to shield the Universe from itself and to contain the powerful Cucible. She asked Giratina for help, since he had been a god connected with death and endings it the previous Universe. But since Gaias power had waned from creating the Origin, they couldn't just create a new God like they had before, they would need to let it grow like a mortal.
So they choose to replicate the method of how Pokemon reproduce and combined their Infinity Energy to form an Egg, which should hatch the last Old One. The process worked and an egg was created unlike any other that had ever been or would ever be. And Gaia took the egg back with her to the Material, to incubate it and the Universe waited patiently for it's last great Old One, the Incarnate of Ending.
But a Problem unforeseen by Gaia soon manifested. The egg, having come from two beings not originally from this Universe, was rejected by creation and thus unable to hatch. On top of that the Being forming inside was a Hybrid of Gaia and Giratina, which were not supposed to exist in this World, as Gaia had seen the impact of such beings in her old Universe.
And so the last Old One, Anima as Gaia had wanted to name her, could not hatch from it's egg and while her soul having formed already meant that the cycle was at least partailly closed, without her hatching the path for souls to the afterlife was still obstructed. Gaia not wanting to go against her own Domain of creation, didn't try to force the egg to hatch, but she also feared starting over, as destroying an Old one could have unforeseen consequences.
Gaia had only two choices, start over and face the consequences or wait and look for an alternative way, she chose the later. So Anima could not hatch and close the cycle of live and over the 3.5 Billion years, she waited the cycle corrupted. With the path to the afterlife obstructed, many souls got stuck and lingered in the material, where they interacted with thier surroundings, which spooked the still living and pulled the Ethereal closer to the Material. As a result Spirit Vortexes started to appear in the Material.
In an attempt to stabilize the cycle Eternatus, Incarnate of Balance, took hold of the Nexus of Ending and created a new Pokémon type, the Ghost-type, in order to bind the lost Souls back to the Material and stop the Ethereal from moving towards the Material. These Ghost-types, had usually died but came back as new Pokemon, thus skiping the Nexus of ending and completing the cycle. Animas soul also used this incident to reach out to a living being and create the first Reaper. But this could only be a temorary fix, the Universe needed it's last Old One.
Then as things seemed dire, finally Gaia found a way to solve this Problem without starting over. But for that she would need to rely on the power of an other being, though that is a story for another time.

Guerssen Records (Spain) is releasing this gem of 1960s Bay Area (Palo Alto, California) garage rock. William Penn and His Pals opened for the likes of Jefferson Airplane and members later when on to play for Santana and Grateful Dead.
But this is good old fashioned 1960s garage - there are limitless comparisons but I'll just settle on The Creation, early Love and The Sons of Adam.
Guerssen is also releasing a fine record of British psych folk/rock. Mandy Morton and Spriguns is available for preorder without any tracks available for listening. Here's the album on YouTube. Fantastic.

“The fatal consequence of that PRESUMPTION which attempts to penetrate, beyond prescribed depths into the mysteries of nature….”
Frankenstein but set in the Renaissance period! I was inspired to draw this by the very wacky 1823 stage adaptation, Presumption; or, the Fate of Frankenstein, which, among other things, turns Victor Frankenstein into a Renaissance Doctor Faustus-esque Alchemist! A lot of the nineteenth-century stage adaptations basically make him into an alchemist or magician which I realised makes him studying medieval and Renaissance alchemists as his introduction to science far less,,, goofy than it would be in the 18th century. So anyway, here’s my take on if the novel were set in the late Renaissance period instead!

METAL AND INK FINALE SYNOPSIS!!!
Yes, the time has cometh! The finale of this 4-years-long nightmare is upon us, so it’s time for a synopsis, which became a tradition for every comic i’ve ever started because of M&I :D
WELP, LET’S DO THIS!
- It’s going to be separated in 3 parts, just like the finale of the main comic!
- Nelly has never been this sassy
- Wilson’s time to shine!
- The one thing you asked for the most shall be delivered to you in the most gruesome way possible
- A SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!
- Cameos of absolutely every character I could think of
- It’s very scary and very wholesome. Everything “Tease Me” wished it could be before I scrapped it after the first chapter.
- I suggest you rewatch “Play Called Life” :))
SEE YOU (hopefully) THIS WEEKEND!!!

The Creation - Biff Bang Pow (1967)
Exhilarating Mod psych.  If you like the early Who, check this one out, as the Who had some serious competition.
