Why magic in the MCU has failed
I remember the "good" old days when Doctor Strange was about to debut back in 2016. I was obsessed with spotting every single little magic detail in the MCU in the hope that magic would slowly grow in status and importance, only to give up after so much disappointment.
But the major issue? The moment Feige stated that every side project was a part of the MCU. People who experienced phase 1 and 2 will remember that magic was a taboo. "It's just science we don't understand yet". While it's a common line quoted by Marvel's greatest geniuses, we all know it's pure arrogance on their part. Otherwise, they'd be doing what magic users do.
It was not MCU's case. Magic was INDEED treated as science. From Ghost Rider's portal being reproduced by a robot through the Darkhold to Wanda's powers being a product of an experiment but not explained at all. From a loooong season of Cloak and Dagger taking its time to finally introduce magic elements to Nico's staff almost falling to the same old "technology" trope. From whatever is happening in Asgard to Loki's limited magic. It's frustrating, but we'd still find a way to turn the tables, right? The Dark Dimension was introduced (twice?), the (third) Darkhold was finally attached to Chthon, Morgana and Lorelei debuted, Nico's powers were finally acknowledge as magic... So what happened?
My best guess? Structure.
There's no structure to define what is magic in the MCU. Doctor Strange (2016) tried. Really hard. And, although it got several things right, it failed in two fundamental aspects: pre-established comic book knowledge and magic deities.
Remember how we got three Darkholds? The first was just so detached from magic that it became a book used to create a VIRTUAL world in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The second was used by Morgan le Fey, but how was she associated with the Dark Dimension? Moreover, that was NOT the Dark Dimension from the first DS movie (or any comic book, really). Its last appearance, as seen in WandaVision and DSITMOM, finally mentioned Chthon, but it literally did NOTHING it was supposed to do. That MCU!Wanda has nothing to do with her 616 version, this is not new. But if we're going to use comic books as foundation to adapt a story, the very bare minimum you can do is do it right. Point is, the book does corrupt people, but it's because of Chthon's influence and his connection to Wanda. Where's Chthon in the movie? The corruption was badly explored and her journey towards evil and redemption doesn't make any sense from a magic point.
Now, the "main" magic cast in the MCU could have worked... Except that there's little to no information regarding how Kamar-Taj works as a temple/school for new sorcerers. And worse even, magic isn't connected to its deities. Sure, there were a few name drops, but does it explain where it comes from? And who chooses the next sorcerer supreme if the Vishanti isn't involved?
The truth is, magic was all over the place, and the creative minds were either too oblivious to the importance of learning about how magic works in comics (to the point of adapting a second Dark Dimension that has nothing to do with the original one) or too shy to introduce a magic hierarchy (as in, deities).
There's an actual attempt to create this structure now, but it's too late. Sure, you can ignore past tv shows, but the mess remains. Eternity was supposed to be an abstract entity, deeply connected to magic, cosmic aspects and life itself.
Tumblr media
Loki is still so embarrassing because the very foundation of Asgardian mythos started wrong (and why is that? Because no magic, of course!). While I find funny that Stephen trapped Loki in an endless freefall, there's no way the god of stories would be humiliated like that. Loki being taught magic by his alts is infuriating (and it's, again, mostly illusions).
Remember when Stephen was beaten by math? That also happened.
This is the moment I completely give up to see magic portrayed at its fullest, in all its beauty and complexity. Because it's not treated the way it deserves. It has never been.
And here's my boldest take: if you really wish to see the full potential of magic in the MCU, go for What If. The price you pay, the cosmic proportion of being misused, the creative elements... It's all there. Which is sad because it's not the main timeline. Anyways, this is it.
PS: This post may age poorly as DS3 comes out in 20 years. Let's wait and see.

I know you mainly draw agent of asgard loki, not any mcu versions, but what are your thoughts on the Loki TV series? personally it really upset me :(
yeahh, there's a reason i don't draw the MCU versions often. when the episodes were coming out, i was on a Loki High and i super loved it, apart from a few moments that i hated IMMEDIATELY, even through my first-time watch excitement:
the writers forgetting Loki is jötun and making the both of them need a warm blanket??
"have you ever met a female loki?!?! isnt that special?!?! she's so unique!! i'm definitely not genderfluid at all!!! gay rights!!! 💙💜💖"
the repeated moments where they really treat loki as simultaneously clever and incompetent? pick one? he's either stupid or he isn't
why did they name her sylvie? they could have named her tökk, they could have named her ikol, they could have named her lüc/luke (not that they would've— they needed to make her Girl "Loki" to heteronormatize the self-romance plotline and de-gender Loki canon that existed before the show did) but they chose to steal the name of a different female character in the comics instead, essentially removing the possibility for a unique female character to show up on screen??
he spoke in italian? he sang in asgardian? what happened to allspeak? what does allspeak mean in this universe, then? can he just speak and comprehend every language, rather than speaking asgardian all of the time and having it translate to the listener's comprehension? what does allspeak mean in the mcu???
*makes the ONE black loki variant a selfish and aggressive traitor*
but after i sat with it i started really hating it. i don't like the way it was written, i dont like the story arcs, the only new characters i liked were Richard E. Grant loki and Miss Minutes. i'm not a big fan. i still do love and ADORE Loki pre-Ragnarök (seriously, he's so good, i love my tortured wet cat characters. #MakeMenSuffer #I'mQueer), and i might draw him occasionally. but i honestly have such strong opinions about the way the large majority of the characters have been adapted that you likely won't catch much MCU content from me

What are your fave comic Lokis? (So no mcu, and no avengers academy or tales of asgard, this is a comics only question but it does not need to be the same comic universe)

I really hope the MCU doesn't try to do Beta Ray Bill
Honestly, at this point, they can't do him justice. He story is entwined with Thor and Asgard's so much that if the MCU tried to adapt Beta Ray Bill, he'd end up a different character.
In the three origin stories for him I've seen (comic, Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and The Super Hero Squad Show) he enters the story by kicking Thor's ass, before doing the impossible and being the first person (other than Thor) to lift Mjolnir. He then goes on to earn himself a new hammer (given by Odin in both the comic and Earth's Mightiest Heroes versions, and by Mjolnir is Super Hero Squad) named Stormbreaker, and become Thor's sworn brother.
Bill is also thoroughly connected to Marvel's version of Ragnarök. Surtur destroyed Korbin, Bill's homeworld, (except in The Super Hero Squad Show continuity) and Thor meets Bill on a ship full of Korbinite refugees who are in stasis. Later on, Bill fights alongside the Asgardians during Ragnarök, before Thor teleports him away, as he doesn't wish to see Bill die and believes Bill should be with his people.
In the current comics, Stormbreaker has been destroyed and Bill wields Surtur's sword, Twilight. However even if the MCU gave Bill this weapon, I don't think it will work, as most of Bill's character development and story, happed with or alongside Thor's. I wish we could have gotten the "Ballad of Beta Ray Bill" storyline in Thor: Ragnarök instead of the "Planet Hulk" lite stuff we did get.

Assorted Thor comic recs
I recently combed through a LOT of fairly random Thor comics; these are the best ones I've found so far. I went in without much in the way of guidance or expectations, so I don't really know whether this is a typical list of universally agreed greatest hits, or slightly more unorthodox with some hidden gems, but either way, I hope it's useful to someone.
These stories are all recent (2010 or later), and pretty short (from 20 to 160 pages). The first three are self-contained and beginner-friendly; they could function as introductions to Thor comics. The fourth is a subversion, so you need some general familiarity with Thor comics, but continuity is still not very important. The last one works best if you have also read, at minimum, Agent of Asgard.
So, in no particular order...
Tumblr media
Thor: Where Walk the Frost Giants (one issue, 20 pages)
This is a short story in which Thor has to foil a frost giant invasion of Asgard, with the help of a young boy who idolises him. I'll admit the plot is fairly generic - but it's the best side of generic. The art style is halfway between retro comics and a storybook, with gorgeous colouring. The cheesy Silver Age high fantasy dialogue is rendered lovingly and unapologetically. This is a love letter to quintessential Thor comics without the racism/sexism/etc that often weigh them down, and it helped me, as someone who first loved Thor in its self-subverting forms, to appreciate the straight versions at their best.
--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Thor: Season One (one issue, 100 pages)
This is a funny, clever, fast-paced retelling of Thor's origin story as Donald Blake. I love its take on Donald Blake - it makes him a compelling character of his own, and his identity/existential crisis is the most emotionally compelling part of the story. Donald/Thor's relationship with Jane is another highlight. The Asgard plotline is, in my opinion, a little bit shallow, but it is still consistently entertaining. The art is beautiful, highly expressive, and particularly good at portraying magic/wonder.
--
Tumblr media
3. Thor the Mighty Avenger (eight issues, from 2010 - not to be confused with the 2011 run of the same name)
This is a Thor backstory more akin to MCU Thor, with no Donald Blake, but it takes place over much longer than three days, and it expands Thor and Jane's relationship beautifully. Its Thor characterisation is layered, incredibly charming, and easily some of the best: a noble, out-of-touch weirdo with no self-preservation instinct and some delightful "sad wet cat" moments, slowly learning to love Earth.
The art is simple, charming and highly expressive, reminiscent of a retro comic, but with more modern designs.
--
Tumblr media
4. Thor: For Asgard (six issues)
This series follows Thor as a new king struggling to maintain order as the Asgardian empire is threatened by uprisings, civil war, and possibly the coming of Ragnarok. It's a very dark take on Asgard and on Thor himself, verging on horror at times, and featuring, among other things: gore, war crimes, discussion of rape, more than one ritual suicide, and a journey through Hel. It definitely won't be for everyone, but personally, I found it incredibly refreshing. ("They're trigger warnings to you; to me they're the reason it's on my reading list"...)
The art reminds me of 80s/90s fantasy movies - shadowy and rich with gothic details like furs, candles, and skulls.
--
Tumblr media
5. The Immortal Thor (currently six issues, ongoing)
This series follows Thor's fight against the gods of Utgard, each of whom is essentially a darker and more powerful mirror of an Asgardian god. It's an ongoing series, part of a continuity I'm not perfectly caught up on, but I'm really enjoying it anyway.
The art is beautiful - very colourful, with an excellent sense of magic and wonder - and the writing is incredible, the best I've encountered in any comic. It's clever, funny, subtle, and emotionally compelling, and it succeeds in balancing them all.
Although it's Thor-centric, this story's Loki characterisation is also really good - what's it's doing with the God(dess) of Stories role is fun and, afaik, completely new; and it's leading to some really interesting explorations of Thor and Loki's relationship.
--
Thus concludes my list. I'm not sure how to tie something like this up, but I feel like it looks odd if I don't. Bon appetit?

I was asked to elaborate on why I think TVA Loki is the most comic book accurate version of Loki in the MCU, so I wanted to throw my thoughts out here. For those of you who don't know this already, the first Thor movie was based off of Robert Rodi's Marvel graphic novel Loki: (Blood Brothers). This is a book set in a timeline where Loki, the God of evil -- AKA Classic Loki -- takes over Asgard and we see his abusive childhood at the hands of Odin and the Asgardians unfurl via a series of flashbacks throughout the book whilst Loki contemplates his next move. And, as we all know, that laid the framework for Loki's character as a sympathetic antihero in the MCU.
But, as far as I know, Loki was not a sympathetic villain in the comics prior to the release of Rodi's Blood Brothers graphic novel in 2005(?). Loki was simply evil just because mischief was his thing and because of misinterpretations of the Norse mythology. So Rodi's novel was written to answer the question, why was Loki evil?
That means that there has never really been an accurate on-screen portrayal of Classic Loki in the MCU. MCU Loki is based off of newer more fleshed out variants that were invented in the 2000s-2010s when someone at Marvel realized they had left the youngest prince of Asgard basically unfinished and Norse mythology is apparently not as black-and-white as the older Thor comics.
So after the 2012 variant of Loki was captured by the TVA fresh from a failed suicide attempt and being tortured and blackmailed by Thanos, essentially drugged by the Mind Stone, and failing to take over Earth the version we then see is Ikol from Loki: Agent Of Asgard.
Tumblr media
This is a still of Ikol -- I-K-O-L -- and Amora, who served as partial inspiration for Sylvie by the way. Ikol was an antihero variant of Loki that was desperate to rewrite his fate and avoid becoming Loki, the God of the evil because Ikol was the aged up version of Kid Loki. Kid Loki, the AVENGER from Young Avengers in case you weren't connecting the dots. Ikol later goes on to become a new Loki variant called Loki, the God of stories who while also an antihero is more of a wild card than Ikol was. But he's still a hero because this is the character who would go on to play mom to America Chavez and to even leading the Avengers. He was also the Loki variant behind the Vote Loki scheme, heads up. So if you're looking for the God of stories in the MCU President Loki is your guy. Which brings me back to the point that TVA Loki is a portrayal of Ikol, which for me was cemented after I reread Agent Of Asgard and watched the first episode of the Loki series. Because Ikol is the most emotionally vulnerable variation of Loki and he's also the one that's most desperate for acceptance. Which is why he's so willing to do anything to rewrite his fate.
Ikol is a Loki that desperately wants to be good.
Ikol was also the first canonically queer and transgender Loki variant in the comics. Lady Loki was technically born in a 2008 Thor arc when Loki used his magic to possess the Goddess Sif. But Ikol was the first Loki to trans his gender and don the form of Lady Loki in the Agent of Asgard books while Loki's bisexuality was cemented in McKenzie Lee's print novel Loki: Where Mischief Lies when Loki had his first love affair with a young mortal man.
And that's why TVA Loki is the most comic accurate Loki✌️

That Thor plotline sounds rad as hell. I was kinda disappointed in infinity war when he got his axe; I figured from the comics that it would happen sometime, but I wanted him to shoot lightning from his hands a lot longer, and I’m STILL irritated that he took off his eyepatch at all. Stealing the name but not the fiction of the chessmen is probably wise lmao
Me too. There's a reason he doesn't get Stormbreaker or a new eye in Yonder, after all. (And I went back and forth a lot on whether he ought to get Mjolnir back in Morning, but it's an alternate universe's Mjolnir and it was for plot and worldbuilding reasons, not fighting reasons since there aren't any fight scenes coming up.)
By the present day of this story -- probably actually roughly when Avengers takes place, to give Steve time to come out of the ice and get the full failed Hydra brainwashing special -- Thor's been stuck on Earth for like a year and a half (I usually have Thor set in fall 2010), depowered and pretty much resigned to now being "mortal." He's still got all the fighting skills (which we see in Thor), but doesn't think that he has his powers or his Asgardian strength/healing/etc., though has been having flashes of them starting to come back that he won't admit to anyone. Older and a little grimmer, living with his exile -- one thing that's always struck me about MCU Mjolnir (unless TLAT retconned this, I still haven't seen this) is that prior to Thor it never had a worthiness clause, and there's every chance that throughout the film Thor had no idea that it now has one. (The triskele appears briefly after he fails to lift it at the crash site, and we see Thor start to react to it, so he may be reading the enchantment there, but it's not explicitly stated anywhere in the film.) Thor may not know that he's on an intended character arc and not that he's permanently exiled.
I kind of read Chris Hemsworth's character Tyler Rake in Extraction as a Thor who never got Mjolnir back and was never able to return to Asgard, and had to learn how to live in this world as a result with the only skill he has (incredible violence), so that's more what this AU's Thor would probably be like, except perhaps a little less grim because it hasn't been as long. Plus he has Jane, Darcy, Selvig, and the rest of realSHIELD.
...I just realized that this is essentially the version of Avengers when they're all in various forms of exile. Thor literally and by name, Steve because he's out of his time, Tony because his death was faked and he's in hiding, Clint and Natasha because they're in hiding after leaving HydraSHIELD, and Bruce because, well, Bruce. (Hydra made a try for the Hulk and realSHIELD was able to whisk him off, so he's there too.)

My review™️ about the movie™️ Thor: Love and Thunder™️
Heavy spoilers under read more, read at your own risk ONLY if you watched the movie or if you don’t mind spoilers
Pros:
- DILF THOR: honestly, that’s everything I knew I needed! Love Thorsdottir is such a beautiful name
- Domestic malewife Thor: everything I knew I needed, too
- Thor adopting his enemy's daughter and following his father’s footsteps. Will she grow up to plot his death? Maybe. But it's like the saying: find what you love and let it kill you
- Thor’s eyes? They glow all the time! He’s even more powerful as the Allfather, but he doesn’t use the “I’m powerful” card. He just is and only calls to it when he must
- SIF IS BACK!!! My heart is warm! ❤️
- Stormbreaker jealous of Mjolnir? Loved it!
- My headcanons that Thor has a phone but pretends he doesn't so people (Avengers) won't bother him is 100% validated
- Thor’s mental healthy not being treated as a joke. Despite feeling like it wasn’t given the depth it needed, it was nice to see him recover for himself. I was worried that he’d try to improve his healthy and his looks because of a woman, but that wasn’t the case. He did it for himself
- Thor stopped drinking 🥺
- How many times can a heart support getting broken? There are only several times before he thinks it's broken beyond repair AND he's cursed or something, but he listens to Jane’s advice and chooses to keep his heart open. Being bitter, vengeful and sad won’t really get him anywhere
- We are reminded that he lost his mother, his girlfriend, his father, his brother (three times), his sister, mjolnir, his eye, Asgard, and his friends and that he’s really trying to make it through it all and find what’s left of him if not a son, a lover, a fighter, a king, a brother
- The thing about Thor's wishes and what he gets are an important point in this movie. He had plans, he wanted things he couldn't have (to start a family and be a father). He's coming to terms with it and his acceptance is sad, but comprehensible, and he sees he can still be what he wants in different ways
- Thor continues to choose love and hope over despair and loneliness and honestly, his positive view of life gives me strength to move on and fight for what’s right, for what I believe
- When Thor has a panic attack after finding out about Jane and the hammer, he doesn’t get slapped. That small bit was really important to me ✊
- Two things they changed in this movie that I was very concerned:
Jane doesn't beat Thor up when they first see each other and she has the hammer, I honestly hate that in that comics run. It doesn't happen in the movie; Thor finds out about it in a more friendly way
He's still worthy! Mjolnir doesn't answer him at first because Thor asked the hammer to protect her when they were together. Thor's afraid to try to lift it, but he can, he could pick it all the time. He decides not to because it's what's keeping her alive. I see no reasons why MCU Thor wouldn’t be worthy and they heed my call
- Thor’s relationship with the Guardians was interesting, I wish I had seen more of it, but they clearly treat him better than the Avengers
- I really love what they did to New Asgard. The asgardians look like they adapted well, the city is beautiful and safe. I bet Thor, Val and the rest built everything by hand and accepted the refugees from other countries. And planets
- The little flashbacks to Thor’s and Jane’s relationship felt so real, so close and so human that they made me ship them even more, something that the two first movies didn’t do
- Jane was a more interesting character than her 2013 version. She and Val had nice but short interactions and I wished they had more screen time together
- Gorr suffocating Jane and Val as Thor watched in hopelessness? A flashback to Loki dying the same way. Hello trauma™️ 😭
- Gorr: he’s not even 9% of what comics!Gorr is, but Marvel wouldn’t adapt what he really does and how he really does it in a movie meant for children as well. Despite the comics inaccuracy, I loved Bale’s interpretation, every time he showed up I felt tense and I wish I had seen more of him. His shadow monsters were interesting. His motivation is also very understandable. Hela is still my favorite Thor’s villain, but Bale’s Gorr is a close second
- Thor: he does and he says things he shouldn’t, but he’s serious when he must. He’s really trying to avoid conflicts; he grew so much compared to his 2011 self. He won’t start fights but he’ll clearly finish them and he says and acts like a King without a crown, a role he doesn’t want to play anymore, a role that he gave to more suitable, capable and trusty hands
- Despite not being a king, he still had a very kingly and respected presence among his people, but he never disallows Val. He respects her status
- Thor builds better and more significant relationships – not always romantic - with women and that’s canon everywhere
- The goats are funny and ridiculous; I love them and so does Thor. Thor’s tattoos were ridiculous, too, but, oh boy, did I cry with “rest in mischief” 😭
- I knew it would take Thor becoming a “Father” to make him feel like he's needed again
- Thor teaching Axl to access and control his powers so he could see where the kids were. My man Thor really being perfect with kids, calming them and helping them to come home. I have a head canon of Thor adopting Volstagg's kids, I mistook the friend whose child he “adopts”
- Thor trusting kids! Teaching them to have faith in themselves! Doing powerful Kingly magic (hello, Odin power) to enchant – briefly – the kid's “weapons”? That’s poetic cinema™️
- Thor feels like he belongs, his people respect him and he brings back their children? Perfect! ⭐
- This movie gave me Thor’s recover, Thor finding his place among his people, building new relationships, coming to terms with his past and his future. His journey was sad but perfect in my opinion. Despite having a broken heart, he's evolving and living - not just surviving. After the trauma of Endgame, this ends so much better and Thor’s finally in a good place to live and evolve
- I like how it ends, Val and Sif training a new generation of warriors, Thor attending to missions with Love on her vacations before they have to return to New Asgard because she has classes ♥
Cons:
- The movie felt rushed in many aspects, I can tell that some scenes were heavily cut
- Some jokes were really out of touch and felt forced in my opinion.
- They really saw the chemistry Chris and Tessa had in Ragnarok and threw it in the trash. Thor and Val barely had meaningful interactions and sometimes they felt like strangers despite being through a lot of trauma together, saving their people together, building New Asgard together
- Thor “forgot” that he was Val’s fanboy, the admiration is not there anymore?
- I wanted to see the scenes they were talking about in two occasions:
Jane becomes the Mighty Thor off screen and I remember some paparazzi pictures of Jane floating in New Asgard, it got cut
Thor says: Gorr is killing Gods but, do we see him killing Gods? Besides Falligar and the first God he killed, there isn’t much to it and we have to trust Thor’s word. It would be nice if he invaded Ominipotent city and killed some Gods there
- Zeus is an ass, I didn’t know what I was expecting. He should have died ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Sif should have had more screen time and at least exchanged a word with other characters, not only Thor
- Loki’s absence is sorely felt. One of Thor’s most interesting relationships is with Loki and it also explains why I didn’t like Loki’s series that much: the lacking of Thor. Bring them together again, you cowards!
- Thor’s so used to cradling loved ones as they die, it’s not fair 😭
Anyway, my overall opinion is that it could have been darker in some aspects, could have valued more the relationship he has with Val, could have been less funny, but so far it doesn't ruin the experience for me.
I like where Thor is right now and I feel validated in my headcanons, I can work with what I have and I didn’t leave the theater in disbelief and pain like I did after Endgame, I felt hopeful and proud of Thor’s journey and I can’t wait to see more of him!

I know I'm usually one to be more charitable towards MCU stuff, but I finally got around to finishing Secret Invasion and it was so bad. Confused plotting and themes, does not gel with the rest of the MCU, and that is being charitable. And the one thing that kept annoying me the whole time was New Asgard
So if you don't know or care, Secret Invasion is about shape shifting aliens coming to Earth and invading it all secret like. In the comics the aliens (Skrulls) are 100% the bad guys, but in the MCU they had a twist in Captain Marvel where actually the Skrulls are refugees and have been nearly genocided by this other alien species (which is honestly one of the more interesting bits about Captain Marvel, but I'm bitching about Secret Invasion, not doing my Captain Marvel autopsy, so focus). Skrulls are not the bad guys, and in fact Nick Fury has been using them as a secret force of informants and assassins since the 1990s, and that's how he's managed to become such a super spy. And in exchange he promised to help the Skrulls find a new planet to call home.
So in the show, some of the Skrulls get tired of waiting after thirty years (even though Skrulls apparently live longer than humans), and want Fury to hurry up and find them a new planet. Even though they can apparently live in radioactive locations and have in fact settled an old abandoned Russian nuclear reactor as their colony on Earth. But this isn't good enough for some of them so that subset of Skrulls are trying to start WW3 to kill off the humans and colonize the now radioactive planet Earth.
So right away we get to the problem, which is that they can apparently live in areas that humans can't, so why can't they just set up shop in Pripyat and other radioactive areas we can't live in, why do they need a whole ass planet. And this is put in stark relief when you remember this is the MCU and somewhere in like Norway New Agard exists.
Because Earth has an alien refugee settlement already, it's New Asgard. In the MCU Asgardians are also aliens, and they lost their home, and have basically set up shop in Scandinavia, we see in Thor Love and Thunder they have a booming tourist industry, in She-Hulk there's Asgardians and even shape-shifting light elves dealing with the legal system. There's precedent. And it's not like humans are using these radioactive sites anyway, we can't go there without getting sick. Why can't we just give the Skrulls amnesty and they stay there, doing their own thing under the protection of Earth and it's superheroes, which will save them from the other space empire that nearly wiped them out in the first place?
But no, the Skrulls have to do a bunch of terrorisms and try to kill the US president, so now the president is trying to declare all aliens enemy combatants (he does not distinguish between alien species, so I guess the MCU version of the president is trying to declare war on Thor, the literal god of thunder). And this whole show is a goddam mess.
Like, usually theming wise Marvel is ok and pretty consistent, their plotting sometimes gets away from them but whatever, the important part is the story, themes, and characters are usually pretty solid, ranging from a few missteps to knocking it out of the park. Not here though. The whole thing didn't seem like it was committed to what it was saying. Like the whole "evil refugee" thing is bad on its face, but it didn't even want to commit to that (because it's xenophobic and gross as fuck) so instead we get this weird mess of "most of these guys are good, but we only see a couple of them, and the bad ones have legitimate grievances but they are trying to wipe out all life on earth" and that does not mesh with what the greater MCU has established, which is that humans know aliens exist and are actively engaging in commerce with them. The concern that humans will not accept the Skrulls because theyre too alien, while it could open a discussion about how different groups experience privilege and prejudice, is treated like a foregone conclusion. "Humans aren't ready to accept aliens living among them" tell that to Valkyrie and Korg! We could have a nice contrast b/t why the Asgardians are accepted and the Skrulls aren't but no, we're just going to side step the Asgardians completely and half demonize half sympathize with the Skrull plight.
Idk man, the MCU seems to really shine lately when it leans into the extraordinary space/magic stuff and it really stumbles when it tries to do a more realistic and gritty thing. Secret Invasion was trying way too hard to be a hard bitten spy thriller, which is just undercut not only by in-story plot points, like collecting all the Avengers' DNA and literal shape shifting aliens, but also the cross continuity to other more fantastical stories. Again, they literal had a shape shifter in She-Hulk, there is now legal precedent established within the MCU of how to deal with this sort of power, you can't have a realistic spy thriller pop in a few months later like "how will society react to this new development 😱"
The creative heads behind the MCU really are resistant to grappling with the change of the status quo and what it means, and it will inevitably break the whole thing if they continue to refuse to do so and keep writing these like "it's just like our world but this handful of people have super powers."

give us five random facts about ur loki
from what I understand he’s pretty different from his comics and mcu versions
Hmm hmm let me think. There are so much happening in his story, I'm not sure where to start aaaa
A few notes before we start: This is our AU where Loki has a sister. It is a female Thor and her name is spelled as Tor. She belongs to my wife Ari! Also, Loki uses he/she/they pronouns.
It is said in canon and most people headcanon Loki as genderfluid, but for our Loki bigender term seems more logic. They feel themselves as male and female at the same time. And with shapeshifting powers, they can express and combine their physical gender appearance :) I also want to note, that I hc Loki as pansexual. I respect that people see him as bisexual, but as a pan myself it helps me to learn and accept my own pansexuality through this character 💜
I think that Mind Stone in Loki's scepter doesn't fully brainwash it's victim, but makes them think that everything you believe is true and boost your emotions and thoughts. Loki was very vulnerable after everything that happened after discovering he's a jotun. He had a lot of time for self reflection when Tor was banished to Midgard and it didn't help at all. So scepter just made Loki think that everything he did at the first Avengers movie was right. He's still aware of his actions.
While Tor was searching for Infinity Stones at the Nine Realms, Loki ruled the Asgard disguised as Odin. Heimdall revealed Loki's plan (it is a very funny story let me know if you want to know more) but he saw that young prince doesn't want any harm to his people and Asgard in general and they started to work together. Heimdall left his duty as a Bifrost Guardian and went to find Odin at Midgard to watch over him. Actually, Loki did pretty well with domestic policy but forgot about foreign one. Also, while ruling, he searched for any way to bring Frigga back to life, because he blames himself for her death and tries to fix everything.
Loki landed at Sakaar a few moments earlier than Tor, but cuz time works differently there, it took months before their reunion. CONTENT WARNING: sex slavery, forced sex etc Loki was caught by people hunters and was sold to Grandmaster's brothel. Loki was at the spotlight because of their ability to shapeshift. After some time, Loki received Grandmaster's attention and favor and they became "the main girl/boy" at first and then the lead of the brothel. It is a really traumatic experience, but Loki thought of it as "another step to subvert Grandmaster and rule Sakaar" because there were a LOT OF OTHER EXTRA TRAUMATIC THINGS HAPPENING NEXT and his mind was self-protecting with erasing memories. Lately those memories were brought back again by Lara (my self-insert in this AU) and Loki had to actually work on this... Note: I do not ship grandfrost, it just really works on the story
After Endgame, Loki and Tor live together at their small house at New Asgard. Loki is used to royal life and way more picky than Tor and it was hard at the start. But they managed to work things together! Loki hates mac'n'cheese but if you say it is ✨parmesan pasta✨ he will eat it and ask for an extra portion. He's so dumb I love him

📓📓📓 if I add more can I hear more ideas? 🤪 —quinn
put "📓" or some other version of a book emoji into my inbox and i'll explain the plot of a fanfiction that i haven't written but daydream about!
absolutely not, whore (affectionate) <3
you've rolled: By Talon and By Heart!
btabh is a Loki/reader enemies to lovers au! it's canon divergent post-avengers 2012.
the basic start for it is that, instead of being imprisoned for the rest of his life, Loki is stripped of his titles on Asgard and exiled to Jotunheimr. taking a bit of inspiration from the comics, part of the story revolves around him taking up the mantle of King of Jotunheimr as (just like in the comics) the throne can be taken by killing the last person who claimed it. features also Drrf, because he's lovely <;3 we havent seen him in over two years and im SAD, i MISS MY TINY BOY
keeping the mcu timeline in mind, i do draw on elements from Thor: The Dark World, namely the Convergence and the portals to other worlds that get implied to just...appear everywhere and transport people to other realms. i always felt like that bit gets skipped over and underutilised because it has so much potential.
anyway, reader gets trapped on Jotunheimr by accidentally going through one that closes right after she does. she very quickly runs into Loki as he's reinforcing his blood-claim to the throne by going around the realm and searching for anyone willing to challenge him.
i do have a generalised sense of how the events on Asgard during TDW transpire without Loki being part of it, and how his absence has changed the timeline.
i don't want to say too much about what happens during the story just yet, but. there's reluctant bedsharing. accidental cuddling. some light pining. new lore (obviously lol).
i am vibrating as i think about btabh again, thanks quinn 😂

¿What if the Marvel Zombies were in the MCU? (Alternate Story)
To: Marvel Entertainment, Kevin Feige, Bryan Andrews and the creators of episode 5 of what if...
                                                    Intro
¿What if events went differently in the MCU? What if the Marvel Zombies were in the MCU? In today’s fam fiction we’re going to be exploring my version of the zombie virus in the MCU from an earlier point in time. This is my own take of events taking inspiration from the 2006-07 Planet Hulk story arc mixed with the 1991 Infinity Gauntlet and 2013 Infinity comics while following the mythology of the Marvel Zombies comics and the timeline of the MCU. Without wasting anymore time sit back and relax and enjoy this 3 part and 1st ever creepypasta fan fiction.
                                                     Prologue
Recently I witnessed a world where Janet Van Dyne infected Hank Pym in the Quantum Realm and when they returned spread it out to all of humanity including Thanos himself except a few of the heroes that made it out alive. However, if I tell u that out of all the zombie worlds I saw there is a world where the zombie virus began in outer space specifically in Asgard and that is today’s story. I am the Watcher. I am ur guide to these vast new realities. Follow me and pounder the question. What If...
                                                         Part 1 (Ragnarok)
This universe’s zombie world will begin during the final battle on Asgard in Thor Ragnarok with all the events of the film itself playing out the same as in our universe with Thor gaining the help of Loki and Valkyrie to stop Hela but the zombie virus and our story itself begins here with a small detail turning into a big one. Hela created an army made out of the dead soldiers of Asgard by using the eternal flame to do this. The army hunted and tried to kill the remaining Asgardians but they failed in our universe. Her army were valiant warriors who fought under the command of Odin and Hela during their great wars and conquests spreading chaos and destruction across the Nine Realms. They were part of their wars to build Asgard and become a powerful empire. Hela decided that she wanted to punish Thor and the Asgardians for what they had done to her over the years. I’m going to change things a little bit since Hela is the godess of death and her powers were much stronger and powerful in the comics and what I’m about to do might sound insane but this is my version of the story. Anyway the universe will change fast and Hela sees her army falling apart in front of her eyes. She watches on telling Thor what was he the god of. Thor tried using all of his strength to talk to his father Odin about Asgard and how the people were Asgard and Asgard was a place. Hela summoned a sword from her left hand knowing that Thor was going to break free from her grasp. Right before Thor could use a powerful bolt of energy he felt a sharp pain in his gut. Thor looked down seeing a sword went through him. He screamed in pain but the scream stopped. Thor’s body fell to the ground. He was crawling trying to get to his feet but he didn’t have energy to fight his sister and she stabbed Thor repeatedly until Thor was dead for good or so she thought she was dead. Hela smiled watching Thor bleed out and she knew that she can take this advantage by using the eternal flame on Thor like what she did to her army but what was special about this eternal flame was that it contained some remnants of blood and spit from the drager. With her personal dead army she combined the eternal flame with the elements of the drager before walking over to Thor’s dead body and putting her hand on his head and while the eternal flame might’ve awoken the army the elements of the drager caused Thor’s eyes to grow in electric color green but something was wrong. Thor was a god. It was the mixture with the supernatural and his powers mixed together. Thor was reanimated back from the dead and Hela called for Thor to rise and bow down to her. Hela failed to realize that the blood of the drager was too powerful for a god like Thor and combining the eternal flame resulted in 2 situations. Either the person who consumed it would vaporize or it will gain enhanced strength but will always have the sensation of hunger for flesh. He slowly got up seeing that he was healed. Thor laughed and smiled at her sister feeling a weird sensation of hunger. The eternal flame and the blood of the drager were the main cause of the zombie virus in this universe but it became uncontrolled after Hela used her powers to reanimate her brother from the dead. Thor flew in the air grabbing Hela by the neck biting it completely off. He ripped her head off using a massive bolt of energy. The blast of energy cause the army of zombies to have no master. Since Hela wasn’t in control the zombies were battling with Loki and Hulk. They were becoming overrunned by the zombies and they didn’t know what to do. He called his hands destroying them on the bridge. Since Thor isn’t there to save the heroes from Asgard’s safety it will be up to the Hulk, Loki and Valkyrie to save everyone. Thor started eating Hela. He didn’t know who he was anymore and why he was doing this. Thor dropped her body seeing a pool of blood around him and what was happening. Loki thought it would be wise to use the eternal flame to unleash Surtur upon Asgard but he didn’t know that she was already dead. Loki ran into Odin’s treasure room seeing all of the relics displayed. Loki opened the door to the hallway seeing a glowing light. It was the tesseract. Loki grabbed the tesseract in time putting it in his pocket. He opened the door to leave his chamber but what was awaiting him was something he never thought was possible. Thor smiled seeing Loki drop to the ground in pure horror. Thor tried biting off Loki but Loki in time used the spell tricking Thor. Thor turned his head seeing the real Loki running out of the chamber and Loki ran throwing Surtur’s helmet into the eternal flame. Thor was confused watching Surtur coming out of the flame. The zombie virus wasn’t over though. Thor even after the flame was still a zombie. Surtur used his giant sword throwing it into Thor. Thor hit the wall of Asgard and he got up seeing Surtur getting ready to destroy all of Asgard. Loki ran into the ship watching from afar. Valkyrie asked Loki where Thor was but Loki told her that something happened to him. He said Hela must’ve used the spell on Thor. He tried talking but he can see Thor’s zombified face hunting him. He sat down on the ship watching the destruction of Asgard. Asgard was destroyed but the zombie virus is about to hit the MCU which was something expected. An Asgardian was infected by one of the undead soldiers from Hela’s army. Loki can hear screaming coming from the ship and people were sleeping but were startled after hearing 4 Asgardians scream in pain. Their eyes turned green yelling and screaming. Loki summoned a knife stabbing it in the heart of one of the Asgardians. Heimdall screamed becoming the infected. He was bit in the neck by the soldier. There was an all out brawl in the ship. Loki asked Hulk to kill everyone on the ship and to do it now. He was about to do a massive clap but Loki and Hulk were shocked to see that Valkyrie had tuen into one of the infected. He jumped over Hulk biting Loki’s shoulder. Loki’s eyes turned green. Echoes of screams were heard but things went silent. All of the Asgardians were infected in the ship and they were walking around life lifeless monsters. Hulk, Loki and Valkyrie have all fallen. The zombies in the ship wanted more food and there wasn’t much left because they have been infected too fast for anyone to save any of it. The following year in 2018 Heimdall was ready and he was going to summon the last of his Bifrost powers to go to Earth and feast on more weaker people. He can see everyone and knew that he had unlimited food. Right before he was going to sent the zombies through the Bifrost a massive shadow casted on the ship. They can hear loud noises but they were ready for anything. “Stay quiet” Loki told all of the zombies as he told them to wait as they board the ship and only then would they have their next meal. After the destruction of Asgard by Surtur Thor was able to make it off of his world in time but Thor was caught in the explosion flying in the unknown reaches of space. The zombified Thor was flying around unconscious after the battle. The Guardians of the Galaxy were flying in space like in our universe but this time the Asgardian zombies used the distress signal before they left Asgard as a last ditch effort to save their world. The Guardians of the Galaxy traveled to the distress signal and encountered a unconscious Thor. Thor’s body slammed into the ship and he opened his eyes smiling seeing the Guardians. The Guardians were confused to see the creature was alive after everything but what they didn’t know was that opening the door he was zombified. They opened the door entering Thor like in our universe. His eyes stopped glowing and they were look at his body thinking that he was truly dead but whatever was out there signaled to them that they were already gone or had died. The universe has completely changed because without Thor alive and being on the ship with his brother Thor wouldn’t learn about Thanos getting the Reality and Soul Stones from the Collector and Red Skull on Knowhere and Vormir respectively in the new universe. Star-Lord asked them what they were going to do with the dead body that was sitting there. “Throw him out from where he came from” Rocket said. Drax walked towards the group on the ship opening the door but the noise of the door woke up Thor. Gamora asked him if his body should be glowing green but it would be too late. Star-Lord would walk towards Thor but he was choked. Groot and Mantis tried to attack Thor and threw Star-Lord towards them. He grabbed Nebula by the neck and she tried to escape but Thor screamed ripping her head off. Thor has that urge again to eat but he tried to fight it off trying to talk with the Guardians. Rocket Raccoon took out a rocket launcher from the ship trying to blast Thor with it but Thor picked him up biting his neck off. Rocket screamed in horror. Thor threw his body towards Star-Lord. Star-Lord was shocked to see Rocket dead but Rocket bit into Star-Lord’s leg. He screamed shooting Rocket in the face. Thor grabbed Gamora by the neck picking her up in the air choking her. Star-Lord was trying to fight off the hunger but it would be too late. It was overcoming him with the sensation and bit Drax. Everyone in the ship became infected fast with the virus. They all stopped fighting each other. Star-Lord punched Thor in the face and he was sent flying into the control of the ship. Star-Lord asked Thor what the hell did he just do. Thor told him that he was infected by his sister and tried using the distress signal to get backup but nobody came. Thor explained that his plan was destroyed and he turned into this monster and couldn’t fight it but he explained that there was more food near this place. He told Star-Lord and the Guardians about the ship that had his people. Thor said that they can eat there and use the ship to get to Earth. They had all the coordinates to get there and was the only way since Thor didn’t know where he was or how to get there without the Bifrost. The Guardians agree with Thor changing the coordinates to the Asgardian ship. He saw that it was closer than expected and if they got there in time their hunger will be satisfied.
                                                   Part 2 (Infinity War)
Thanos’s ship landed and his Black Order boarded the ships. They saw that everything was dark and their bodies were everywhere. Corvus Glaive told Thanos that the entry of the ship was clear. Thanos walked in seeing the corpses lifeless on the ground. Thanos yelled telling his Black Order to rip the ship apart. He wanted the Space Stone and he wanted it now. Thanos had the Power Stone after he decimated Xandar. He lit the Power Stone up and the stone casted a shadow on the most terrifying sight. A group of zombies smiled and were ready about to attack Thanos likely. Thanos used the Power Stone in time cracking the skulls of the zombies. The Black Order were caught off guard. Loki had changed into Ebony Maw biting up Proxima Midnight's head. Cull Obsidian was confused seeing Ebony Maw do this but it was too late. Hulk screamed spearing him to the ground. Before Black Dwarf could attack Hulk his face was cut clean killing him off. Thanos looked to see all of his Black Order were murdered in front of him. Even Supergiant was killed. Thanos screamed using the Power Stone to destroy the ship. Thanos met these types of creatures before but not like this. It was something he never faced before. Thanos knew he needed to act fast. Valkyrie was going in for the killing blow on Thanos but he dodged the attack grabbing her by her neck crushing her in front of Heimdall. Thanos used Corvus's spear levitating it in the air throwing it at Loki's face pinning his body to the ship. Thanos crushed every zombie within the ship throwing their bodies through space. Thanos walked towards Loki who was trying to break out of the spear but Thanos took his body ripping it in half. Thanos looked to see the tesseract. As he was about to pick it up Hulk screamed turning around. Thanos and Hulk were circling each other. Thanos knew that whatever this was he had to end this fast and get that stone. Thanos was about to pick it up until Hulk speared Thanos into the wall laughing saying that he was the hungriest there is. Thanos in time used the Power Stone to blast Hulk's head into half. Hulk screamed but was punched in the face. Thanos smashed Hulk's head into the ship stabbing him in the gut. Thanos picked up Hulk slamming his body to the ground. Thanos in a rage blew up the Hulk's head. He was dead but it wasn't finished. The Mad Titan picked up the tesseract crushing it into his hands. he put the stone on his gauntlet knowing that he needed to regroup and find the next stones. he was about to use the Space Stone until a ship zoomed in crashing into the entrance way Thanos didn't know what to think but he stood his ground. The ship's doors opened and out came Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The zombies were shocked to see the ship was filled with bodies everywhere but what shocked him the most was that Thanos was here. Thor couldn't believe it. he saw Loki's head roll near Thanos's feet. Thanos stomped on the head explaining that he was too late for them and he had two stones and he was going to be getting the third one. Thanos opened the Space Stone portal and he was about to enter until he saw his daughter come out of the ship. He was shocked to see that she became one of these freaks and Thanos didn't know what to say but he had a tear in his eyes knowing what he needed to do. Thanos asked what happened but the zombies walked off of the ship with no reply. Thanos put his head down in disappointment aiming the gauntlet at the zombies. He shot a blast from the gauntlet but lightning crawled up Thor's fingers dodging the mega blast. Thanos knew he was outmatched and without all the stones he couldn't fight whatever this was. He decided to continue his plan using the space stone. Thor jumped almost getting to Thanos but the portal shut. He rolled around the floor and Thor turned his head to see the Hulk. Hulk was dead and Thor had flashes of his past remembering when he was normal. Thor screamed manically and the guardians walked towards the ship looking at the coordinates. Earth was the destination and they needed to go there now. Thor wanted more food but he thought that maybe he could be cured. Maybe Tony could help him become the man he once was. Thor had to try this. He told the Guardians that he wanted this planet for his own and that they could feast somewhere else. Gamora told Thor that Thanos was getting the stones and she said that if they could get their hands on one of those stones that they could feast on any planet in the universe. Star-Lord laughed agreeing with her plan. Thor wished the zombies good luck but he didn't reveal the plan to the Guardians about finding a cure as if he did all hope could be lost. Thor went into the back end of the ship getting into an escape pod going to Earth. Thor was coming in quick with the escape pod breaking into the Earth's atmosphere. The ship crashed into the building blowing up. Thor's body was sent flying near Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. Doctor Strange looked outside hearing screaming, car alarms and people in panic. Doctor Strange saw a building on fire but he didn't know what was going on. Wong ran outside asking Strange if he was in need of help. Doctor Strange was shocked when he saw Thor emerged from the flames of the shipwreck. He had blood everywhere and half of his face was burnt off. Doctor Strange asked Thor if he was okay but he kept walking towards strange and Wong. Doctor Strange was caught off guard seeing Thor pick up a civilian trying to run from the chaos. Thor laughed ripping his throat out eating the man in front of them. Doctor Strange knew dark magic or something was in the works here. Strange had no choice but to use the Time Stone. He reversed time right before Thor's ship crashed into the earth. Doctor Strange used an astral projection of himself to get within the ship. He couldn't believe his eyes. He saw Thor with the blazing green eyes knowing that he needed to do something. Doctor Strange grabbed Thor's body teleporting him into the Sanctum Sanctorum. He then used a portal linking it somewhere through space throwing the ship into it just in time. Doctor Strange teleported back to the Sanctum Sanctorum in time using magic to restrain Thor. Wong ran towards Doctor Strange seeing Thor on the couch in chains. Doctor Strange asked if Thor could talk. Thor yelled and screamed demanding to be freed but he told Strange that he needed help. He had a sense of hunger that he couldn't control and he needed Stark or him to cure him of Hela's enchantment or whatever infected him. Doctor Strange and Wong told Thor that it was going to be okay. Tony like in our universe was with Pepper jogging around the city. Tony talked about his weird dream that he had of his daughter and he was surprised to see a portal in the middle of the city open in front of his eyes. Doctor Strange walked outside of the portal demanding for tony to come with him and that this was urgent. Tony didn't want to go with them telling Doctor Strange to mind his own business until strange moved out of the way revealing Thor through the portal. Tony ran towards the portal seeing that Thor was restrained and yelled at Strange asking what was wrong with him. He walked into the portal in shock seeing a zombified Thor. Stark asked “what happened” and Doctor Strange revealed everything that Thor said to him about Hela and how he was turned into a zombie after the destruction of Asgard. Doctor Strange told Tony that they needed to find a way to reverse whatever happened to him or this could spread within the world or even the universe itself. Tony was shocked but agreed. He tried to talk to Thor but Thor wanted to break out. He wasn't strong enough to break through Strange's barriers and Tony told Strange that he was going to need to get a blood sample to see what was inside of him. This would allow him to check what was wrong and how he could reverse whatever happened. Strange asked Thor how many of these zombie type creatures were running around in the universe an Thor said that he only knew around 8 of them that were still alive running around. Tony almost fell to the ground in shock knowing that if this spreads the whole universe could turn into these freaks. They needed to act fast before things got out of hand. Tony grabbed his phone ready to call Steve but he decided not to alarm anyone. Tony knew that if he did it would only be making the problem worse than what it could be. Thanos like in our universe went to Knowhere to collect the Reality Stone from the Collector but this time it was ambushed by the zombie versions of the Guardians. The Guardians trailed Thanos throughout the universe knowing the Collector had the Reality Stone. If they could get their hands on the stone before Thanos then it could make it a lot easier for them to take the other two stones from him using them to feast on everything and everyone. Thanos had a standoff with the rest of the Guardians and he told them that they couldn't possess the power of the stones and that he was going to wipe out half of all life to balance everything out of existence. The zombies didn't care and Star-Lord attacked Thanos but Thanos changed reality throwing Star-lord at Drax and Groot. A massive Power Stone blast hit Mantis in the face killing her for good. A hole went through her head and she fell to the ground lifeless. Thanos threw her body at Gamora and Gamora was sent flying onto the ground. She was about to get up until Thanos stepped on her back crushing it. Her face broke with blood pouring out of her eyes and Star-Lord yelled using his rocket boots to kick Thanos in the face. Thanos ripped Star-Lord's leg off and was about to teleport away until the gauntlet didn't work. Thanos heard laughing in the distance and reality changed in front of Thanos. Star-Lord laughed saying that they had cheat codes of their own and that he was going to pay for everything he did to them. Gamora came from behind biting Thanos in the neck. He screamed in pain but the zombies devoured him leaving his bones at Knowhere. They ate off the gauntlet off of Thanos's arm having enough power to travel and eat anything they wanted in the universe. Gamora made sure that Thanos wouldn't come back from this. Gamora told the team that they had three stones and she said “what if we find the final ones as using the full power we have no one to stand in our way”. Drax smiled at the idea and loved it. The Guardians agreed to find the Soul, Mind and Time Stones. With these stones they could snap their fingers and eat everything and anything they wanted. Gamora explained that they knew where one of the stones were and that stone was on Vormir. The Guardians headed to Vormir going at lightning speed. Tony gained samples of Thor's blood and it was hard for Tony to study since Thor was a god it wasn't normal but he knew that something was wrong. He tried to look within the blood to retrieve separate samples but he didn't find anything that could help him. Doctor Strange tried researching spells to reverse whatever has been done to Thor but nothing could be done. Doctor Strange looked within different timelines to find an answer to this but he couldn't see anything. Tony asked Strange what was their next course of action going forward since they couldn't do anything for Thor and Tony told Strange that Thor was still his friend and that he needed more time but Thor explained that he wasn't in full control and was willing to break out of the magic and eat everyone. He told Strange he better have the Time Stone ready just in case anything were to happen. Strange was about to tell Tony something until Thor let out a massive scream. The hunger was becoming too much for him and a bolt of lightning came cracking down from the sky breaking Doctor Strange's spell.
                                           Ultimate finale (Endgame)
Strange told Tony that there was no time and that they needed to use a destruction spell on Thor's head to try and break his skull. Tony got into his armor yelling for Strange not to make a rash decision. Strange used the spell casting it on Thor trying to use all his powers but it didn't work. Thor used a massive bolt of lightning on Strange kicking him back. Strange fell to the ground trying to get to his feet but Thor screamed in his face ripping his cloak off of him. Thor threw Strange to the ground and Wong used a destruction spell but Thor flew his hand into his chest killing Wong for good. Tony told Thor to stop and try to control the virus. Thor yelled saying he couldn't. He told Tony to leave but it was too late. Thor was consumed by the hunger and Iron Man summoned a sword through his armor stabbing it into Thor. Thor smiled asking if that's all he had. Tony used the arc reactor and the pulse blasted through his chest. A hole went through it and Thor fell to the ground lifeless trying to get to his feet. Tony said that he didn't want to do this and he asked if gods couldn't die blasting a powerful ray from his arm. Tony shot it but Thor used lightning dodging the blast throwing Tony through a wall. Thor picked up Tony and was about to bite him until webs hit Thor in the face. Tony was surprised to see Spider-Man. Tony yelled at Parker not to engage and Spider-Man punched Thor in the face but was bit from the attack. Spider-Man fell to the ground in pain and Strange got back up sprawling getting his cloak. His vision was blurry but he saw Spider-Man and Thor eating Tony. People were screaming and Strange reversed time moments before Spider-Man was infected. Doctor Strange screamed in pain using a destruction spell on Thor's head breaking his skull. Thor dropped to the ground lifeless and Spider-Man and Iron Man were shocked to see that Thor was killed. Iron Man asked Strange why he did it and Strange told Tony that there was no other way and that they were going to save him so they needed to save everyone else letting Thor die. He told Tony he saw him get infected and he used the Time Stone to reverse it before he was going to be dinner. Tony picked up Thor's body phoning Steve. The Guardians landed on the planet. It was cold dark and things felt like death. Gamora told Star-Lord that she learned about the location years ago but never told Thanos because if he ever got the stones for himself he would be unstoppable but now his plan to retrieve them all was over and there needed to be room for a new plan. Star-Lord was happy knowing that food was going to be endless once they got their hands on all the stones but he asked Gamora if they were doing the right thing here and she agreed with him but she told Peter that they couldn't be helped and that they couldn't save themselves. At this point this was the new way of life. The only way to survive was feeding even if it meant killing innocent people. They made it to the top of the mountain but no one was around and there was a dark shadow casting from the rocks. they heard cloaks waving around and Drax smiled pointing his knife at the figure in the distance. He said that there was fresh food here but he was stopped in his tracks by the Red Skull. Skull told him that he was there to suffer for a long period of time and that the only way he could be freed was for someone to be worthy of the Soul Stone. Red Skull said “a soul for a soul” and the team then headed down wanting to know who was going to make the ultimate sacrifice. Drax raised his hand being pushed by Gamora and Star-Lord. Star-Lord looked at Mantis and said that he was sorry for this but it only made sense. Drax picked up Mantis throwing her off of the cliff screaming. He didn't want to do it but it was done. The deed was finished and they grabbed the stone but were shocked to learn that even though they were zombies they still had their souls. They could maybe somehow cure themselves from this but Star-Lord explained that they couldn't and that this was their new path. They got into the ship setting their location for Earth. They had two stones and they were learning this from the ship's archives. Thanos kept tabs on he Avengers from Earth and since the Guardians had access to everything they were able to learn all the information and how to get each stone. Tony brought Thor's dead body to the Avengers Compound and he started studying the body learning about the virus and how it worked. He needed to find a cure and Thor's body was a good way to learn about this and Doctor Strange went searching for Steve Rogers, Falcon Scarlet Witch and Vision. They were all wanted criminals hiding in Scotland after the events of Civil War. Tony wanted to talk to them but since he was busy trying to find a cure he let Doctor Strange know about their whereabouts. Doctor Strange found the team hiding in an old broken down factory. Strange told them what happened with Thor and he said that there was a virus that is lurking in the universe and they needed the Avengers to stop this before it could get out of hand. Cap was shocked hearing the news about Thor but he knew that if Thor was dead then things were getting serious. He agreed asking if they were going to be safe going back to the states but Strange said it was all covered. The heroes walked through the portal seeing Tony and Rhodes. They were ready to fight but were stopped by Doctor Strange. Black Widow looked in horror seeing Thor's body. She asked what happened and Tony explained that the zombie virus has started somewhere in space since Thor was infected by his sister. There was no way of knowing if it was a magic spell or a virus. Tony got out of his seat telling the team that he thinks that it could be a mixture of both but even still he said that Thor couldn't fight it but infected Spider-Man fast in another timeline. Peter told Tony that maybe they could create nanotechnology which was what his suit was made out of. It would easily destroy the zombie skin by breaking it down and it could kill them within seconds. Cap asked Tony if there was a cure but he shook his head saying “NO”. Cap yelled telling them that they wanted to save lives and not kill any innocent people if they could avoid that at all costs. Tony told Steve that “there was no other way”. Steve looked at Thor's body and he had an idea but it was risky. He told Tony and the rest of the team that they should bring Thor's body back for more tests at Wakanda. Doctor Strange agreed and wanted to learn more from the other scientists. They grabbed the body opening the portal to Wakanda with the Mind and Time Stones left. The Guardians were on their way to Earth. Star-Lord told the rest of the Guardians that as much as he felt a sense of belonging to Earth their hunger needed to be satisfied first. With them having four stones at hand they are confident that they will be successful at Wakanda. Thor's body had been transported to their facilities for Shuri to do further testing. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange told the Avengers that he would stay with Shuri in case Thor got re-animated again. The other Avengers agreed and decided that they should be at standby just in case anything happened. At the same time the Guardians have now found the coordinates to the remaining stones at Wakanda. Rocket asked Star-Lord whether they would be able to defeat the defenders of Earth and whatever happened to Thor. Star-Lord replied that one of the major advantages hey have over the Avengers is that they needed just one bite to infect the others. With Groot by their side it should be an easy deed to do. The Guardian's ship arrived at Wakanda and Black Panther was alerted that something was spotted outside of their defense's premises. The Guardians told him that it was just a ship and there were several individuals who came out of the ship and the individuals did not look suspicious and Black Panther set out several guards to survey the situation. The guards approached the Guardians and requested for their purpose of landing at Wakanda. Star-Lord who still had his helmet asked them if they knew where the remaining Infinity Stones are. The guards merely replied that they are unaware of it and told the Guardians to return from wherever they belong. Drax who was starving for flesh charged and jumped onto one of the guards before slashing them One of the guards managed to flee and reported to Black Panther via his earpiece and that these strange individuals have attacked them and caused the other guards to turn into zombie-like creatures As he was about to report more he was stabbed in the back by Gamora and his neck was ripped off. Black Panther told the other Avengers that it seems like the threat has arrived earlier than anticipated. He told the Wakandans to prepare the defenses and Black Panther saw from afar that there were two spaceships that landed. One was the spaceship that had the other people who attacked his guards and the other was a huge spaceship and Black Panther saw that many people were coming out from the spaceship. On Star-Lord’s side they have already seized the Grandmaster’s spaceship. The ship was already carrying the Asgardians and they had already bitten half of the Asgardians and eaten the remaining ones. They didn't want to kill off all of them as they wanted to have a sufficient army to devour Earth. The zombified Asgardians were black, hideous and smashing themselves against the barriers of Wakanda. Groot used his limbs to carry the Asgardian spaceship and threw them against the barrier eventually crippling Wakanda's defenses. The zombified Asgardians charged towards the Avengers and a huge chaos ensued and the fallen Wakandans immediately turned into zombies and started biting and infecting the others. Captain America told the other Avengers that they needed to fall back as being bitten is not an option. The Avengers retreated to the base and Shuri was still researching on Thor and discovered that Thor's body has been infused with some sort of toxic blood that triggered their minds to be craving for flesh only She said that searching for the cure could take a long time as the source of blood is unidentifiable. Iron man asked Doctor Strange what would be the next course of action to which he replied that he would try and see into the future to see the possible outcomes. Doctor Strange told them that there could be only one possible solution to the problem whereby someone needs to wield the Infinity Gauntlet to turn the situation around. However, doing so would result in death as nobody is capable of wielding it alone and if not then it's just a matter of time before the entire earth will be filled with zombies. Iron Man looked at the rest of them and told them to hold off the zombie horde without getting infected as much as they can. Spider-Man asked him on what he was going to do and Stark merely replied “something that could save us from this mess”. The Avengers eventually faced the Guardians and the zombies. Several Avengers have been infected already such as black widow Okoye, M’Baku and Hawkeye have already been bitten. Captain America told Iron Man that they are on the verge of collapsing. The Guardians stormed into the facilities where Doctor Strange and Vision were staying. Star-Lord told him that the last two remaining stones which are the Time and Mind Stones is needed to complete the gauntlet. Doctor Strange and Vision tried their best to shield off of the attacks from The Guardians alongside Cap, Spider-Man, Bucky and Wanda and a clash ensued with Star-Lord who had all the stones. The remaining Avengers were being overwhelmed by the massive number of zombies and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord has acquired the gauntlet from Eltri the master forge who created for Mjolnir for Thor after forcing Eltri to create the gauntlet for the stones. He and the other Guardians feasted on him and the other dwarves for destroying their planet with the Infinity Gauntlet now in his hand. Star-Lord and his Guardians managed to overwhelm the Avengers. Drax stabbed Doctor Strange in the gut before he could use the Time Stone to reverse time while Gamora used Corvus’s glaive to Vision. Groot then ripped off the stone from Vision's skull while the other Asgardian zombies tore apart Strange. On the brink of victory Star-Lord placed the remaining stones into the gauntlet. He was about to snap before Spider-Man who was still alive webbed up Star-Lord's hand. He shot out electrical webs to Star-Lord incapacitating him. However, Star-Lord now with the gauntlet reversed time with the Time Stone and brought himself close to Spider-Man before shooting his head off with his gun. With another pest gone Star-Lord was about to snap when Iron Man appeared and chopped off Star-Lord's hand with his upgraded axe. Iron man grabbed Star-Lord's missing hand and placed it on his suit. His suit's wrist changed to reassemble the Infinity Gauntlet. Iron Man gathered all the Infinity Stones and looked at the chaos around him. Almost everyone has been zombified except for him and Captain America. He told Captain America that while the others are mindless and zombified he hoped that by snapping they would return to their senses and this zombie incident never occurred in the first place. He added that Doctor Strange probably foreseen the scenario and the zombies were approaching him swiftly. Iron Man then snapped his fingers and all of a sudden everyone who was zombified started turning back to normal. Their skin became normal and they started to look human again. However all of them had one thing in common. They lost their memories of what happened from the entire zombie incident. It all felt like a really bad dream and Captain America was the only sole survivor who remembered what happened. Tony used all of his last strength to snap and eventually died due to his immense pressure from snapping. The rest of the Avengers were shocked to see that their leader Iron Man was dead resting in Pepper's arms. When they asked Captain America what happened he merely replied that Iron Man sacrificed himself for the greater good of the universe causing the zombie threat to be destroyed. A grand funeral was held for Iron Man and although they were unaware of the exact details they knew that the universe was still safe for now...
                                                        THE END!
And that is going to be my version of what if the Marvel Zombies storyline had occurred within the MCU timeline and what if it started in 2017 with Thor Ragnarok rather than in 2018 in Ant-Man and the Wasp. I had a lot of fun making this fan fiction and I believe that Hela’s dead army could’ve been a better candidate to start the virus as they were zombies in a way and I think this would’ve definitely change Infinity War and prevent the main events of Endgame from ever happening. This is my first ever creepypasta fan fiction because I wanted to make the story creepier than the episode and upcoming show and I believe this is creepy enough which btw I can’t wait to see what Marvel does next with the TV show and I did this just in time for the Halloween season and I will be doing my continuation on Episode 5 leading into the show and also a fan fiction that’s coming soon so be on the lookout for that and more what ifs coming soon. Take care guys and have a fantastic day. Peace out!

I LOVE THAT LAST CHAPTER OF YOUR MAIN FIC! ❤️ It makes me kinda sad to see it end... but is it really the end? All I know is that I'm looking forward for your future works! Especially that Media-Based Logyn AU that you posted. It makes me excited. Your one-shots of different Logyn AUs are also so good. Please don't ever stop! ❤️❤️
Thank you!! I will admit, seeing this ask made me go back and add an author's note at the end of the chapter that I forgot to post:
"Loki and Sigyn will return in Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder."
I marked the fic as complete for two reasons:
I have no new chapters, and am not likely to have any more any time soon. The next two movies I'll be adapting are coming out back-to-back and I need time to figure out how I'm going to adapt them and how they're going to fit with what I've already done, while still maintaining the story that the filmmakers were telling. Just from the trailer of Love and Thunder, I know there's going to be a lot of jury-rigging to get that movie's New Asgard and my New Asgard to fit together.
From what I've seen, new readers are less nervous about picking up a completed story with a cliffhanger than an incomplete story that looks abandoned. I don't want the continuity lock-out that a lot of comics-based works end up having, and leaving it as complete for a few months while I work on other projects and new material helps ease those readers in. I did the same thing when I published Chapter 34-- huge cliffhanger and the promise that more is to come, but marking the fic as complete because I haven't written it yet.
I've already started working on two new projects-- the sequel to The Lady is a Tramp, and one of the media-based AUs that I came up with in that post you're referencing. I might even end up writing two of those AUs, one of them has really gripped me recently. I'd expect new chapters of the main fic to start sometime towards the end of the year. The stories I'm working on are summer stories and I want to start publishing at least one by June. These are soft deadlines though, so don't mark your calendar just yet. And, of course, I'm always open to prompts! ^_^
Unlike with the Take On Me fic series, Love, Duty, and Glorious Purpose is predicated on having MCU content to adapt, rather than me making plots and storylines wholesale. I dipped into a bit of that with the recent arc, but still with the conceit that this is an alternate version of the MCU, not just how I would tell the story. However, when the main fic finally does end, it will probably be because of the following reasons:
I get bored and no longer want to work on the project (not likely at the moment, but I'm fickle lol)
Tom Hiddleston stops playing Loki in the MCU (not seeing that at the moment, but he's alluded to it recently, and they'd want to give his version of the character a proper send-off should he chose to leave)
The MCU stops making content (not likely at all right now, but would include point 2 as well)
If 2 and 3 happen, but not 1, I might have some continued adventures, but if 1 happens I would definitely pull together an ending for Loki and Sigyn before marking the fic as complete for the last time.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for the ask!

Hypothetical MCU movie/series: “The Dark Avengers”
MAIN STORYLINE
In the years since S.H.I.E.L.D.’s downfall, the U.S. government put together a new and “improved” version of S.H.I.E.L.D. known as H.A.M.M.E.R.. Due to how dangerous the universe has gotten, namely with Thanos wiping out half of all life, H.A.M.M.E.R. decides to create their own version of the Avengers. The H.A.M.M.E.R. Avengers would be focused on preventing threats like Thanos from rising and would be treated more like a spec ops unit.
So, “Dark Avengers” doesn’t necessarily mean evil Avengers. They’re “dark” because they act more like a black ops unit, doing clandestine missions for H.A.M.M.E.R. in order to ensure world peace.
The mysterious Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. has former S.H.I.EL.D. agent Contessa Valentine Allegra de Fontaine assemble the team. Their first mission; infiltrate New Asgard and assassinate Queen of the Asgardians, Valkyrie. Apparently, Valkyrie was forming plans to take the leaders of the world hostage in an attempt to conquer Earth (similar to what Loki did in “What If...?” episode 3).
Of course, Valkyrie is being framed. It’s not until later on that the Dark Avengers find out that the Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. and Contessa Valentina were being manipulated/enchanted by Asgardian villainess, Amora the Enchantress. Amora was using the Dark Avengers to kill Valkyrie in order to assume the throne herself.
How will the Dark Avengers deal with this turn of events? Will they follow orders like loyal soldiers and assassinate Valkyrie anyways? Or will they do what’s right and go after Amora? Who is the Director of H.A.M.M.E.R.? You’ll have to watch the show to find out!
SIDE NOTES
1) The storyline of the Dark Avengers invading New Asgard is based on the 2010 “Siege” storyline.
2) The mid-credits scene reveals that the Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. is the MCU version of Norman Osborn (Green Goblin). Since Oscorp doesn’t exist in the MCU, Osborn is the spy business/politics.
THE DARK AVENGERS LINE-UP
1) Sofia Boutella as Dr. Antonia “Toni” Ho (Iron Patriot). She is the Iron Man of the group. Unlike the comics, this version of Toni Ho is Ho Yinsen’s estranged sister. This is to keep with the canon since Ho Yinsen said that his family was dead. So, even though Toni is alive, Yinsen didn’t consider her family (harsh, but she’s a Dark Avenger, so you can see where Yinsen was coming from).
Tumblr media
2) Wyatt Russell reprises his role as John Walker (U.S. Agent). He is the Captain America of the group.
Tumblr media
3) Tim Roth reprises his role as Emil Blonsky (Abomination). He is the Hulk of the group.
Tumblr media
4) Chris Hemsworth as Ragnarok. Ragnarok is a highly-advanced cyborg meant to be a copy of the original Thor. Basically, think of Ragnarok as a LMD that can mimic Thor’s abilities.
Tumblr media
5) Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova. At this point, she’s taken on the mantle of Black Widow.
Tumblr media
6) Daniel Craig as Barney Barton (Trickshot). He is Clint’s older brother and the Hawkeye of the group.
Tumblr media
CASTING THE OTHER NEW CHARACTERS
1) Jodie Whittaker as Amora the Enchantress, the main antagonist
Tumblr media
2) Bob Odenkirk as MCU Norman Osborn, the director of H.A.M.M.E.R.
