Just finished reading "The Clone Wars: Wild Space" and holy kriff my heart was in my throat throught the book!
If you haven't read it and plan to beware of spoilers below
💙 First of all learned a new curse word, anyone know what "vape" is equivalent to?
💙 "How am I supposed to-how do I injure you with a lightsaber?" "Very..... carefully, Senator" that Kenobi sass, even when he's barely able to breathe.
💙 "Here. No point in making.... new holes" 😅
💙 The relationship between Obi Wan and Bail, from reluctant travel companions to friends was absolutely perfect! And gives good insight as yo how Obi Wan was so willing to let Bail raise Leia.
💙 Reading about Obi Wan having to relive all though moments of pain and hurt and suffering 😭😭
💙 Padme being ready to drop everything to go get them, the concern she has was just perfect.
💙 Anakin right away asking for Rex when he heard of his battle group!
💙 I just wanted to wrap Obi Wan in a blanket and give him some relaxing tea throughout it!
💙 Bail being stubborn as hell 😅
💙 Obi Wan doesn't drink? He raised Anakin, there is no way he could have done that by being sober 24/7
💙💙💙What got me the most was Obi Wan's realization that attachments were not all bad like her thought, admitting he loved Qui Gon and loves Anakin... the fact that they gave him the strength to keep going 😭😭💙

One of my fav things about star wars is that's its so fucking huge that u physically cannot know all of it so u just kinda like pick a section amd become obsessed. Like me with the Chiss. Like i have seen only one other fandom come even close to this amd that's Marvel. I have no idea y. And we all still bond over the skywalker saga (not the ones that shan't be spoken). And its like we all know a bit of each other sections. Like clone fans know a bit about ahsoka. Ahsoka fans know a bit about the Rebels fans. Rebels fans know about Thrawn. Thrawn fans know some deep shit about Padmes handmaiden and wild space yokels. And it pretty much goes on forever and i find that very cool.

From Wild Space: Star Wars Legends (The Clone Wars), by Karen Miller.
(Context: This is Obi-Wan trying to break up with Padmé on Anakin’s behalf. Yoda reamed him for his own attachment issues then sent him to dump Amidala in the middle of the night while Anakin’s still passed out in a healing trance.)

So I’ve just finished rereading Wild Space for the first time in like a decade and, with all the current debate about whether or not Obi-Wan and Anakin are a Force Dyad, this passage jumped out at me:
Anakin’s hologram bowed, and then his image flicked off.
Yoda shook his head, sighing. “A bad feeling he has. Like that, I do not.”
“Which is more worrying?” said Mace, fingers drumming his knee. “The fact that he confirms your concerns...or that at his age, with his still-limited experience, he can sense something’s wrong when thousands of light-years separate him and Obi-Wan?”
......
Troubled, Yoda halted again. He wanted nothing more than to lock himself into his meditation chamber, but... “Much work that will make for you, Mace Windu. And greatly burdened you are already.”
“I don’t care about that! Yoda, how many times have you said it? Obi-Wan has a destiny as important as Anakin’s. If something happens to him - if we should lose him -”
Yoda nodded, as the weight of the hazy future tried to crush him. “Even with the Chosen One, the Force may never be rebalanced,” he finished heavily.
~ Ch 18, SW: TCW: Wild Space by Karen Miller
What’s especially interesting to me is Yoda’s precognition of Obi-Wan’s significance as a counterweight in the foretold rebalancing of the Force. Something which, of course, Palpatine also recognized as evidenced by his repeated efforts to kill Obi-Wan and continually undermine the bedrock of their relationship in hopes of driving that pivotal wedge between them at last. And how could Obi-Wan’s destiny have been any less important than Anakin’s when he was the Chosen One’s other half, his anchor to the Light and bastion against the Dark?

FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE! Join us Saturday, December 2 to discuss the hot mess of a book Wild Space. Let me preface by saying, you do not have to like this book to participate. All opinions are welcome.
I recently read Wild Space and I thought it was so enjoyably ridiculous it deserved its own book club. Don't be fooled by the cover. It is basically 200 pages of Obi-Wan losing his mind LOL. On December 2, I'll host a Zoom meeting where we can gather and chat about the book. Grab a cup of something cozy, wrap yourself in a blanket, and get ready to chat about the madness that is "Wild Space."
Saturday December 2 at 1pm CST (if you need help converting the time to your specific location, I find worldtimebuddy.com to be extremely helpful - be sure to set the date before you select the time).
If you would like to participate in the book club, please DM me your email address, or send it to [email protected]. I will email a Zoom invite the day before the meeting.
Have questions? Drop them in the comments!

What if “the cavalry” in the final episode isn’t the Bad Batch themselves but everyone they helped since the first season? The Syndullas, Gungi and the Wookiees, Phee and the folks from Pabu, maybe even Saw Gerrera - victims of the Empire fighting for the clones that fought for them 🥹 It’s possible, right? RIGHT!? 😭
Fr tho it’s actually a perfect opportunity to start a rebellion. All those disparate groups brought together for a common goal. And maybe it fails, but the point is that now they know there are others like them out there, that there’s still hope. And in the end, isn’t that what Star Wars is about?
It’s also a perfect fuck you to Palpatine. For all his planning, he sowed the seeds for his own undoing lol Like Gerrera and his rebels, the Republic trained the clones and then they went on to haunt the Empire IT RHYMES 🤭

HOLD ON LEGENDS CANON SAYS THERE ARE THREE WEEKS BETWEEN ANAKIN BEING KNIGHTED AND TAKING AHSOKA AS A PADAWAN? AND A TOTAL OF SEVEN WEEKS BETWEEN AOTC AND THE CLONE WARS MOVIE?
This is hilarious. This is my favorite thing about the EU so far.
Like I’ve had sinus infections that lasted longer than Anakin’s solo Knighthood. I know heads of lettuce that lasted longer. THREE WEEKS??!?
Just imagine: Say Shmi dies, Anakin murders a village and loses his arm all on Halloween. By Thanksgiving, he’s gotten a new arm, gotten out of the hospital, gotten married, and been made a Jedi Knight. Then he fights in three major military engagements, takes on responsibility for a 14-year-old, and goes BACK to Tatooine where his mom died a month and a half ago and still has a full week to get his Christmas shopping done. He is a VERY BUSY GUY.
I’m not saying getting a full month to define himself as an individual would fix Anakin, both because that’s just the tip of the iceberg and because his brain fails to compute independence as a concept. What I’m saying is THREE WEEKS DFGJBJBJKCBAJKEKJWKJSD
[From the novel Clone Wars: Wild Space. Disclaimer: the book does also mention engagements on Anoth and Bakura after the seven week mark but before Christophsis, but Wookieepedia’s only reference to Anakin’s involvement in those is Wild Space itself, so I’m gonna assume they didn’t take super long?]

"It occurred to him then, with a clarity that was startling given the darkside hurricane howling through him, that Yoda was wrong about the dangers of attachment. Or at least that he wasn't altogether right. It was true, attachment could weaken a jedi's resolve, but it could also strengthen it. As he was strengthened now by his love for Qui-Gon and Anakin. Without them, he would have failed long before this moment. And so, leaning on them, he continued to fight."  - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Clone Wars: Wild Space
