“So it’s true, then?”
The sound of a young girl’s voice broke the silence of the surrounding night, adding to the already tense atmosphere. Reiner slowly lifted his hardened gaze to meet the person addressing him. Sitting on a small bench across from him, with her head nonchalantly resting in her hand, was his comrade Annie Leonhart. Her oval shaped face was framed by short blonde hair and fair complexion highlighted by frosty blue eyes. Her ever so present icy gaze was locked onto him as he remained silent, arms crossed tightly against his chest.
After dinner, the cadets had all gone to their assigned lodgings for the evening. All of them, except for three. The lone trio had made their way to the edge of camp, out of sight and more importantly, out of earshot.
“Annie…”
Another male voice interrupted, his tone both cautious and pleading. He was seated next to Reiner, with lanky arms that held his knees close to his chest. He had short black hair and pale olive eyes that sat atop an elongated face. This young man was their other companion, Bertholdt Hoover. Reiner glanced at his timid friend.
“It’s fine, Bertholdt.”
The boy tilted his gaze at Reiner in acknowledgment before Annie spoke up once more. The judgemental look in her eyes said more words than her voice ever could.
“An untrained civilian managed to deal damage to the Armored Titan. That’s embarrassing,” she cocked her head slightly to the right before adding, “For you.”
Reiner stiffened. Bertholdt kept his eyes locked on the ground below.
The atmosphere around the three became painfully quiet. The crackling sounds of the fire between them occasionally interrupted the silence as Reiner struggled with his own internal mental war.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers before speaking up.
“Yeah.”
He removed his hand from his face, returning his arms to their position crossed against his chest. Annie scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“She caught me off guard, I’ll admit,” Reiner said, his voice strained. His eyes meet Annie’s, her cold gaze still piercing into his very being. “It won't happen again.”
He uncrossed his arms and clenched his right fist as his memory began flashing images of that day in Shiganshina. The young girl who had bombarded him, her annoying relentless attacks and impossible speed. Even I assumed she was a soldier, he thought to himself. Damn it. When the hell did I get so weak?
Reiner lifted his eyes to meet Annie, but his expression of anxiety had vanished, replaced with an intense resolve and a sense of vengeance. The young blonde girl raised an eyebrow as the boy across from her spoke again.
“Like I said, it won't happen again. I’ll be ready for her. Next time, we’ll complete the damn mission.” His eyes glistened with hostile intent, his warrior spirit slowly returning to him as he added. “And I’ll kill that devil bitch myself.”

Attack on Prime: Chapter Sneak Peek
Link to fanfic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/36583423/chapters/91243426
Ymir was quietly resting in her tent when she heard the fabric of the entrance move. She groaned in irritation, ready to make a snide comment, but was surprised to see the Flying Titan in human form.
“What are you doing here?” Ymir asked.
“I need your expertise,” Megatron answered.
“Sorry, but my information on Marley is fairly outdated,” Ymir declared, “I’m sure you know more about it than me.”
“I’m talking about the Armored Titan,” Megatron elaborated, “The shifter, Reiner Braun.”
Ymir raised an eyebrow at that. “Shouldn’t you be asking the other about that? It’s not like I knew them personally.”
“Probably not, but you have been with him,” Megatron explained, “Alone. The others only knew him as the role model, the ‘big brother’. In Marley, he’s looked down upon a lot. Be it because he’s an Eldian or because he is incompetent. Either way, he doesn’t exactly have a safe place there to convey his personal thoughts and feelings. The only one who’s ever been alone with him, albeit a short amount of time, was you. There was no Marley, no Paradis, just the two of you.”
“And you want to know this because?” Ymir questioned.
“Because I want to break him before I kill him,” Megatron answered bluntly, “Unless you have your reservations about sharing information about the enemy.”
Ymir glared at Megatron. Guess the guy still questioned where she stood after all this time.
“Well, it was only a week that I spent alone with him, but he’s really lost his mind,” Ymir declared.
“In what regard?” Megatron demanded.
“Reiner and Bertholdt destroyed the walls right? Killed innocent people because they saw them as devils? So why would Reiner risk his life to save a devil? He saved Connie a while back, before you arrived. Instead of letting him get eaten by a titan, Reiner jumped into harm’s way to save his life. He could’ve let him get eaten, but instead he risked his life, and the power of the titans to save him.” Ymir explained, “When we were alone together, that’s when everything began to click. One minute, he’s rambling about being a soldier. Being rewarded for the hard work he’s been doing for the Survey Corps. The next, he’s going on about being a warrior, serving Marley, and slaughtering all the Eldian devils. Being alone with him really got me thinking, and I realized something. Reiner can’t handle the weight of what he’s done. He’s done so much damage and ruined so many lives. Everything he knew since he was a kid was wrong, so the only way that Reiner can handle the weight of his actions was by falling for his own act.”
“He’s pretending to be a soldier?” Megatron questioned.
“He believes he is a soldier,” Ymir corrected, “His whole personality split so that he could manage his conscious.”
Ymir could see that Megatron was thinking about the information.
“I haven’t seen anything like that when I’ve talked to him,” Megatron admitted, “He’s rather cautious.”
“Of course, he’d be cautious,” Ymir retorted, “If Reiner were to blab about what he’s seen on the island, he’d be executed on the spot. The warrior personality is in full swing, and the soldier personality is being repressed. I don’t blame him for that. It’s the only way that he can survive.”
Megatron didn’t reply to that as he made his way towards the entrance to the tent. “A word of caution: he lied about your predecessor. He lied, saying that I took the one they call ‘Marcel’ and fed him to a random titan: you.”
“He lied to protect himself,” Ymir said, “Which is something I don’t blame him for,”
“I am telling you in the event of,” Megatron reasoned, “I’m certain you wouldn’t want to be blindsided later on in the battlefield.”
Megatron left the tent, leaving Ymir to her own devices.

Why Don’t You Wanna Fuck Me?
Levi Ackerman X Reader
Summary: Y/N sleeps around with a lot of people but seems to steer clear of Levi, He’s unsure why so he tries to figure the mystery out.
Chapter 1
“Wake up!” that was the first thing i heard in the morning
“Fucking shit why would you do that?!” i yelled after i hit my head on the back board
“Sorry but you slept in and Hange needs your help with some experiment” Reiner told me looking tired, i mean he probably was after…..anyway
“Ok, can you hand me my clothes please '' I asked, rubbing my eyes and stretching. A stack of clothes was placed in front of me
“Can we maybe not talk about what happened last night” He asked looking concerned, I assume because he has a thing for Christa
“Have I ever fucked and told Reiner?” i asked as i put my clothes on
“No, sorry” he gave an awkward apology he stood there until i was done getting dressed
“Where’s Hange”
“With Sawney and Bean '' I don't know why I asked where else would she be. When I first joined the Corps Hange sorta recruited me as her assistant she had Moblit so im not to sure why but i nevr questioned it. If i'm being honest Hange and Moblit are my closest friends. Even if i almost die everytime i help that maniac.
“See you later Reiner '' I gave him a small wave as I went to see what Hange needed now.
“Y/N finally!” Moblit practically screamed walking towards you
“Jeez what did she do this time,,” I asked still slightly out of it from just waking up
“It's kind of complicated,” he said, dragging me to the tent where Hange usually did her research.
“Hange what the fuck did you do,” I said walking through the tent opening. That was when I realized there were other soldiers in the tent. Oh shit
“Section commander Hange, what the fuck did you do” I tried to correct myself to not seem disrespectful but the solders still looked at me like I was being disrespectful...oops
“Y/N good to see you let me run through the progress and notes from my previous experiment” Hange said exited while shuffling the stack of paper in her hands.
Four long hours later she concluded her speech. All the other soldiers exited the tent leaving just me Hange and Moblit.
“I'm not too sure Commander Erwin would want to hear you speak about your brand new discovery for 4 hours Hange,” I told her as I looked through her messy notes
“Your right Y/N...which is why I am asking you to summarize them for me,” she said
“Ok, Do you know how long this will take Hange?” it was a sincere question. If anyone could estimate it would be her.
“Dependson how much time you work on it” she said simply
“Why can't you or Moblit do it” it wasn’t that i didn't want to help my friend i just wasn't the biggest fan of paperwork
“We have an expedition in two days and we won't be back for at least a week” Moblit explained, Helping Hange pack some stuff for the expedition.
“Alright i'll do it as long as you two don”t die or something” i said folding the papers and putting them in my pocket
“Thank you Y/N” Moblit said while Hange slid into the chair across from me
“What?'' I asked as she stared at me with a quizzical look.
“Was it good?” she asked leaning her chin on her hand
“For fucks sake Hange, why do you want to know '' her and Moblit were the only one i talked to about my late night activities, bit only if they, Hange, initiated the conversation.
“I'm just a caring friend, and i want to know” she said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world
“He was ok, could probably use some more practice though” i said picking the skin surrounding my fingernails.
“I thought he had a thing going on with that tall kid, what's his name?” Moblit joined the conversation. He hides it but we all know he loves some good gossip
“Bertholdt. He also has a thing for Christa” i know they won't go around telling everyone about this stuff so i'm not too cautious letting them know.
“Have you tried Erwin?'' Hange asked nonchalantly. I choked on my saliva
“Erwin?! The Commander?! Hange im not trying to get kicked out” maybe i was overreacting. I've slept with plenty of  higher ups but the idea of trying with the Commander scared me.
“He won't kick you out in fact he might be happy he can let loose a little” she said with a smirk on her face
“I have paperwork to do,” I said, ending the conversation while I got up and left the tent.
“Sleep with the commander, she really is crazy” i say to myself as i walk to by room
.
.
.
“Does it seem ok?” I asked Hange as I gave her the finished product of the notes. She took a minute to look though it before speaking
“It looks perfect, how long did it take you?” she asked handing it back to me
“I finished it last night, i went through a lot of drafts before i got it down” i worked on it everyday till it was perfect. I rewrote it probably 20 times.
“Can you please give it to Erwin, I have to help unpack everything,” Hange said, walking off.
Maybe i’ll take Hange’s advice after all
“Good evening Commander Erwin, here’s the paperwork from Section Commander Hange,” I said putting the paperwork on his desk
“Please tell Hange I said thank you,” he replied as he started to briefly look through the paperwork
“Aren't you going to leave Scout,” He asked still looking at the papers
“You haven’t dismissed me, it would be disrespectful if I just left” I explained, I wasn’t interested in being respectful, I was just trying to be slick. After a moment of silence, I spoke up
“If I may ask, are you frustrated Commander?” he looked up from the paper, his eyes full of curiosity, this was my chance.
“Why do you ask Scout?” he asked looking back at the paper
“I was just curious, a lot of people seem to be overly frustrated lately, and since there aren’t too many ways to relieve said stress….” I trail off hoping he understands my implication. He put the paper down and looked up with the smallest smirk
“Are you frustrated Scout?” he asked, his voice dropping a few octaves and damn was it attractive
“If I were to say no then I’d be lying Commander” Hey, at least I was being honest
“Ok, well why don’t we help each other out,,” he said pushing out of his chair and circling his desk to stand in front of me
“If that's what you wish, commander, I will follow your orders” I was trying not to act like I was too excited. Sometimes I like to toy with men's emotions, letting them think I'm not into it even though I am. He stepped close and looked at my lips then back up to my eyes. I took the chance to initiate the first move, which would lead to many more. He was a good kisser I must admit. Unfortunately, we were interrupted when a knock was heard at his door. He pulled away heading to the door saying something about maybe letting whoever it was join. I don't know if he was joking but hey the more the merrier
“Hello, what can I do for you Captain Levi” Levi...great fucking wonderful.
“May I be dismissed, Commander Erwin?” I asked, turning and walking towards the door. He looked confused.
“Yes Scout, thank you for the paperwork,” He said as I walked passed him and Captain Levi

run | bertholdt hoover x reader pt. 3
Tumblr media
warnings: canon typical violence
word count: 3596

authors note: here’s the 3rd part of my bertholdt fic! i’ve pretty much decided that this will be about 5 parts. the next 2 parts might get long because of that but I hope you guys like this chapter and as always feedback is LOVED and you can read it on ao3 or wattpad as well!
summary: after the truth about the colossal and armored titan comes out you have to make a choice. is your heart with the scouts or with bertholdt?
read part one here || read part two here.
Staring at the steam coming off of Bertholdt’s hand your mind was racing. You were still trying to come to terms with how close to death you were. If Bertholdt had stepped in one second later you would be dead right now and nothing you’d ever done would have mattered. You wouldn’t be standing here at all, you’d have been just another casualty of the titans and no one left alive would care. The scouts already thought you dead and Bertholdt had already left you behind, there was no way he could have expected you to follow him.
Tears started to fall in waves as you wrapped your arms around yourself. You wished you could reach out and hold him but you couldn’t, you couldn’t face what he was yet. It was stupid, you’d come out here knowing that. You’d come out here to talk to him and hear what he had to say but you couldn’t even reach out to him right now. That made the tears fall harder, your body shake even more. Why did you even come out here if you were just going to act like this? If you couldn’t face him you should have taken your chance back with the MP’s.
“We have to get back up there. We can’t stay on the ground here for too long, we’ll interrogate her when we’re safe.” Interrogate. You were a threat right now, you weren’t anything but that and Reiner was very clear about that.
A harsh sob left you and you felt a hand on your shoulders, “Shh no you have to be quiet y/n.” Bertholdt. “We have to get up the wall, it’s too dangerous down here. Just… hold onto me okay?” You managed to stop the sobs and let him hold onto you and use the ODM gear to climb the wall. The titan’s body was gone by now, turned to steam but you still stared. It was easier staring at that than looking at Bertholdts missing hand or the ODM gear you knew he only got from eating one of the other Scouts.
When you were safely atop the wall he let you go, he stepped back but kept his eyes on you. Watching you wearily as if he was waiting for something to happen, for you to make a move. You’d never seen him look at you like this before, like if you made one wrong move he’d do whatever it took to stop you. And you knew he would, everything in you was telling you that he could hurt you, would if he had to. But the part of you that followed him was still inside you, reminding you that you loved him enough to leave everything behind. To betray your friends and comrades.
His eyes though, more than being on you were on Reiner. He was the one glaring, he’d been the one to say they’d interrogate you. Bertholdt might have been worried about what you would do but it was clear he was even more afraid of what his friend would do. The pair of them looked at you as you stood pathetically in front of them, clothes stained in blood, still catching your breath and your face red from crying. If it was any other situation you’d have felt embarrassed to be seen like this, especially by Bertholdt. But you couldn’t bring yourself to care, you’d risked everything to get here, to see him again. You knew there would be a chance that you came here only to die. You’d accepted that.
“Oh this is priceless” Ymir was standing behind the two of them not even trying to hide her amusement. “Y/N followed you out here? Who knew you had so much game?” His face heat up and he turned away from the smirking woman who was walking towards the three of you.
“We don’t know that.” Reiner’s voice stopped her from continuing. “They could have been sent by the scouts to find us.” His tone made you wince but you could understand his caution. Looking to Bertholdt you wanted him to say something, voice that you wouldn’t have done that, but he was stills silent. Hiding in himself like he used to around you. You’d hoped he’d at least understand why you followed, maybe he was too afraid to have hope.
Ymir looked at you for a moment, you could see that she wanted to say something but she didn’t, maybe she too understood why he was being cautious. But it didn’t help you, you still wanted to yell at him and tell him that you were the one who should be afraid. The three of them could turn into titans, he and Bertholdt had killed countless people. You were one person, even if you lead the Scouts here what could they really do this deep into titan territory? They’d lost countless just as far as they had gone. Going any further would have been suicide.
Shaking your head you wanted to yell, tell him that you’d never do something like that. Even knowing what you did now, you just wanted to know what was real and what Bertholdt had made up. “No!” Your voice wasn’t even close to the yell you’d wanted it to be but you still managed to speak. They looked at you though, all three of them staring at you, but your eyes were only on Bertholdt. “You think I would risk my life for that? They left me!” Your words hit you again and you realized again that you’d literally been left to die. “They all left me to die out there! You left me out there!”
He winced at the accusation, unable to look at you and face that he had left you. Maybe they thought you were dead but they didn’t even try to check. They’d risked everything for Eren and yet they couldn’t take a minute to see if anyone was alive. If it had been anyone else they wouldn’t have left them, Mikasa, Armin, Jean… they’d all have been looked for. But not you. “Did you even care?” He looked at you, eyes wide and mouth open but you cut him off. “I could have died. I should be dead but some Garrison soldier I’ve met once in my life saved me. And you… you left me. You didn’t even —” Your eyes went to Ymir, “She tried to take Christa but you didn’t even say anything to me.” A laugh escaped you as you looked at Bertholdt, the anger on his face replaced with something else, shame maybe? “Was it easier? Was leaving me behind, letting me die easier for you?”
By now you weren’t even crying, your eyes stung and you could feel tears pricking the backs of your eyes but you felt numb. You wanted to shake him, demand he say something and not just stare at you like he was. You could see him try to form words but stuttered over them before he was able to get out a protest. “Of course I did.” He sounded broken and everything in you wanted to run to him, but you couldn’t let yourself.
Looking at Bertholdt right now did nothing but make you want to forget everything you’d wanted to ask. Finding out why, you wanted to accept him again without question, let him do whatever he wanted and you couldn’t do that. Forcing yourself to look at Reiner a wave of pride went through you when you realized he did look at least a little guilty. “You really think I almost died to report you to the scouts? I wouldn’t do something to purposely hurt the person I love.” Your voice dripped with venom and you knew it hurt him, probably more so that you weren’t even talking to him. “I just…” you felt the adrenaline and anger fading and leaving you once again with the pain “I had to find you. To know if anything was real, if we were real.”
Covering your face with your hands you had to hold yourself back from crying again. Digging your psalms into your eyes you forced yourself to not cry. Maybe you should have just gone back to Wall Rose, you’d hoped maybe he would have been happy to see you but after he saved you he’d only stood there. He let Reiner take over once again. You needed to talk to him, not Reiner, you didn’t care what Reiner did. Bertholdt was the reason you were here now and if he wasn’t going to tell you anything then there wasn’t a reason to stay here. There was no reason for him to save you from that titan.
“Y/N.” Bertholdt’s voice was quiet when he spoke to you, you could hear him walking towards you. “Of course it was real.” When he touched you, you winced and you heard him take in a sharp breath. “I couldn’t tell you I —“ Stopping himself he leaned in closer to you, his voice a little more than a whisper. “Can we just go talk. Please?” Letting your hands fall from your eyes you nodded, he looked back to Reiner and motioned for him to go. The other man looked hesitant but he eventually turned away from the two of you.
Bertholdt’s hand twitched at his side and you thought he was going to offer you his hand like he usually would when you were alone but he stopped himself. Slowly you started to walk after him, your arms wrapped tightly around yourself. This was why you followed him, to hear what he had to say and find out the truth. But the idea of hearing something you didn’t want was terrifying. You wanted this to just be a bad dream, something you’d made up in your head but that wasn’t the truth and you couldn’t pretend like it was.
You weren’t sure how long you both walked along the wall but you kept your eyes on his back. Usually you walked along with him, Bertholdt slowing his steps if he needed to, to make sure you were keeping up with him. But if he tried to slow down here you slowed more, you were fine to trail behind him. It was better that way. You weren’t sure if you could actually look at him right now, you had to figure out what you even wanted to say to him, hope you could actually think of what you wanted to ask, needed to know.
Right now all you knew was that you needed to know if he ever actually felt anything for you. Saying everything else could come later, the fact that he’d destroyed the wall, the fact that he’d killed hundreds of people… to you that was second. As selfish as it was you almost didn’t care. What he’d done to others, it was horrible and to some unforgivable but you loved him. To you he could never be that monster, not as long as you and he were real. You’d risked everything to follow him here, knowing what he was and what he’d done. You’d accepted that as the truth, to people he hurt he was a monster, but to you he was the light. Letting him go without listening to him wasn’t an option for you.
Bertholdt stopped walking, he didn’t say anything, didn’t even look at you. He walked to the edge and stared out, “I didn’t want any of this.” He said that before, when you and the others confronted he and Reiner. “I just wanted my dad to be okay. No matter what I had to do it was supposed to be worth it so he could get help.” So the part about his dad being sick was true, at least that meant that not everything was a lie, maybe most things weren’t but you couldn’t be sure. “I’ve tried to make it feel like it did in the beginning but nothing feels the same.”
The words felt stuck in your throat, you knew what you wanted to ask and that you had to ask. But the idea of rejection burned your mind, these were the questions that would tell you if you made the right choice or if this was the biggest mistake of your life. Depending on what he said you were outside the wall alone with no way of getting back. You’d committed treason and betrayed your friends for nothing. But you couldn’t hold it off anymore, this was your life that you were putting in his hands.
Stepping closer to him you felt him look at you but you couldn’t do the same, “What changed?” From you spot on the wall you could see a titan in the far distance. A symbol of what kind of danger you were really in out here.
Bertholdt looked at you with sad eyes, the same ones he looked at you with when you used to talk about the future too much. You’d though it was just because you were both soldiers, Scouts. “Seeing everything happen, hearing people’s stories and making friends. The fact that for once in my life I actually felt like I belonged and didn’t have to prove myself to anyone.” There was a hint of a smile on his face, “And mostly you.” Your heart sped up when he said that. “I tried for so long to stop myself, to push you away but it never worked like that.”
Letting out a soft laugh you nodded, he was right. He’d try to keep his distance from you but you wouldn’t give up on talking to him. Not when you could see him looking at you when he thought you didn’t know. The way he’d blush when he was caught or the way he’d stutter when you spoke to him. That still hadn’t gone away, when you caught his eyes he’d blush, he was always so nervous and quiet but it didn’t stop him from reaching out and taking your hand or kissing your cheek. Even if there was a blush on his face he wasn’t hesitant to show you affection when you were alone.
In public, he wasn’t affectionate but you didn’t need him to be, he was still at your side and making sure that you were safe during missions. You loved him, he was your world and you had believed that you were at least part of his. In your mind you’d already decided your future was with him, if he took back his home like he said or if you stayed as soldiers your whole life. Whatever he did you wanted to follow. It didn’t matter to you how young you were. As a Scout your days were numbered before you really started counting them, you’d watched countless friends and people die so you couldn’t hesitate to fall head first into him.
You couldn’t focus on those memories though, they’d do nothing but make you upset if this didn’t end well. “Did you ever love me?” Your voice cracked and as much as you’d been able to hold it in before you couldn’t stop yourself from tearing up. You needed him to say yes, you wanted him to say yes. “Was any of it ever real?” This was the man you loved more than anything, you gave up everything to follow him here and now it was the moment of truth.
“What?” Your eyes were on him in an instant, he was looking at you like you were crazy. “Do you really think that I would… lie about that?” Every part of you wanted to be relieved by that and there was a part of you that was. But the fact that there were so many other lies, it wasn’t something you could accept so quickly. Even if you wanted to. “Do… do you really think that?”
Wiping the tears that started falling you let out a shaking laugh, “I don’t know anything about you Bertholdt—”
“You do!” He grabbed your hands and held them, the fear he’d had before of touching you apparently gone. “I told you everything I could, more than I’ve told anyone. You know things that not even Reiner or Annie know.” How he could tell you everything but leave out the fact that he was a titan, the fact that he was from somewhere that you knew nothing about? It didn’t make sense. “I never really lied to you. I couldn’t tell you everything but I didn’t lie. You know more than anyone else was ever supposed to.” You couldn’t stop the tears anymore, even if you wanted to he was holding your hands in his large ones. “Every time they told me not to let it get this far I promised I wouldn’t but it did.”
Hearing him talk like this should be making you happy, all too often he kept his feelings inside. It wasn’t like he didn’t tell you he loved you or how much you meant to him. But every time he started Bertholdt stopped himself from saying too much. Like he was afraid if he didn’t stop he was going to confess. Maybe if he didn’t stop himself like he did he’d end up telling you everything, confessing everything to you about who he was and what he’d done. Would that have made any difference now? What would you have done if he did tell you before? You supposed the fact that you were standing here now told you what you needed to know. You’d have followed him.
His hands were shaking as they held onto yours and your first instinct was to comfort him but you had to stop yourself. You couldn’t get the answers you needed if you held onto him instead of forcing this talk. Things would be so much easier if you could just fall into him, you wanted to just be held and told everything would be okay. Nothing was ever that simple in this world.
Grounding yourself in the feeling of his hands you focused on reality and not the dream world you wanted to go off into. The callouses on his hands, the warmth, his long fingers running over the tops of yours. “Why did you? If you knew you were just going to leave me like this why did you even bother getting close to me? You told me you had a future with me but on the wall you.” Again you thought about Ymir trying to bring Christa with her, that she’d been willing to do anything to get the other woman with her. “You didn’t even look at me.”
You never wanted to see him upset but the look of guilt that passed over his face did give you a type of satisfaction. “I did want that.” Shaking his head Bertholdt stuttered for a moment, “I do want that.” That was what you wanted to believe, you wanted to have a future with him, “I wanted to tell you. I wanted you know the truth but how do I say that? How do I tell you the truth about what I am? The things I’ve done.” You’d lived in Wall Maria, it was because of their actions that you lost your home, your father.
Everything in you was telling you that you should hate him but you couldn’t. Bertholdt was everything to you and you knew that. Even standing here, with him telling you that he’d done horrible things, after seeing him kill one of the scouts you both knew. He was what you wanted, you’d do anything for him. All you could do was hope that he would still do the same for you. You didn’t know how to tell him that you didn’t care about that, because it wasn’t the entire truth. He’d done terrible things, killed so many people but the love you felt for him… that was more important to you.
Moving your hands up his arms he stared at you as you gripped his arms tightly. You didn’t really know what you were doing, you were just desperate for some kind of contact. This man was the reason you were out here, why you risked your life and betrayed your friends and comrades. “I love you. I want to be with you I don’t… I don’t care about that.” His green eyes were wide as he looked at you, your hands desperately gripping his arms, you were sure there would be nail marks on his skin. “But if you want me to go then I will. Just tell me and you’ll never see me again. I’ll leave and no one will know where you guys are.”
A plea for either acceptance or an easier rejection. As long as he let you leave if he wanted you gone you could handle it. Death was the other option. The worst one, the one that scared you the most when you decided to follow him. Burying your face in his chest you waited for him to say something, anything. You loved him enough to forgive him for everything he’d ever done wrong. He just needed to love you enough to believe you.
Long arms wrapped around you, pulling you against his chest. Slowly you let go of his arms and pressed your palms against his chest holding onto his sweater. “I love you.” You’d never heard him say it so clearly before, so confidently. “I’ll figure out how to take you home with me. I promise.”

Ok. I read it, I cried, and now I feel empty inside lol
*Chapter 139 Spoilers*
The ending wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be, but that’s because things were headed in that direction anyway. I won’t say that the ending was incredible, though. There are still some things that need clarification.
My thoughts, what I understood, and questions I had while I read the chapter:
The Rumbling… It’s the worst thing that Eren has done. It was still something he caused with Ymir’s help. To me, this chapter confirmed that Eren was always behind the Rumbling; it wasn’t Ymir’s doing. I don’t see that as a positive thing for his character, though a lot of fans who supported his actions might… I see people argue that the Rumbling was for nothing, or that it was set off because of Eren’s love for Mikasa. I guess that’s true, but he was also thinking about everyone he loved including Mikasa. It wasn’t because he was a “simp;” he addressed that he wanted to sacrifice himself so that the so-called ‘avengers’ could be seen as heroes, to destroy the allied forces and buy Paradis time to build an army large enough to protect the island, his home. It’s a highly flawed strategy on his part, but this is the gist of what I understood.
Eren’s outburst about Mikasa to Armin took me by surprise, but that’s because I haven’t seen Eren lose his composure like that since the cave scene in Season 3 (where Eren begs Historia to take the Founding Titan). He was devastated about what he was doing (or going to do), and somewhat childish. He reminded me of a child having a tantrum. He was selfish. I think it showed his humanity was not completely gone. I had to keep in mind that he was reduced to a child during the Rumbling. Perhaps what we were seeing in those panels was something similar to that. He was a traumatized individual and was never really able to express his feelings well. He was vulnerable and expressing his deepest desires. He wanted to be with Mikasa and his friends. He wanted to live a normal life.
Eren and Armin’s friendship still remains true to the very end. Eren was vulnerable in front of Armin as he had been before. I like that Armin gets closure.
Mikasa Ackerman and her memories… I’m kind of stumped. I wonder if her memories were manipulated despite being an Ackerman. I’m also wondering about Levi under the assumption that Eren also spoke to him via Paths.
Mikasa and Eren’s head. It is kind of weird, but humans respond to death differently. I had to keep in mind that she’s the one who killed him. She’s respectful of what’s left of his body. How else was she supposed to carry his head?
Also, Mikasa leaving with Eren’s head: Again, a little weird, but she wanted to let him rest in peace. I’m assuming that if she stayed behind with Armin and the rest of the survivors, Marleyan authorities (or at least of what’s left of them) would have taken his remains into custody.
The Survey Corps’ final salute made me ugly sob. I love that Levi got to say goodbye to them a final time. Same thing with Sasha… However, I wish that Jean got closure about Marco. I also wish that Bertholdt got closure, or had a final interaction with the warriors.
Marleyans vs Eldians after the titans disappear: I’m not surprised. They were almost killed by the titans that had transformed. They were being cautious. It reminds me of Season 1 when Eren, Armin, and Mikasa faced canon fire after they learned about Eren’s titan.
Also, what happened to the parasite-thing? I assume that it died after Eren was killed. But did it just disappear like the titans did?
What happened to Ymir? Seriously, where did she go lol. I also don’t like the idea that she loved King Fritz. It’s awful. Although I do see her as someone who wanted love and approval. She was a slave and the King used her as such for power. This was probably the closest she ever got to feeling loved and wanted. It’s a sad thought. I can’t help thinking that she had Stockholm Syndrome.
Also: the power of love prevails! And by that, I mean Mikasa’s love having an influence on Ymir. My understanding of this was that Ymir felt someone’s love through Eren. Again, all Ymir wanted, aside from freedom, was to be loved and wanted.
Annie and her father: I obviously cried. She finally got to see him.
Annie and her titan’s abilities: What was the point of telling us that she could mimic the powers of other titans? I was hoping to see that happen during the final battle.
The warriors and the remaining soldiers get to live. I’m semi-bitter about Hange’s death. I’m indifferent about the others’ survival just because somebody had to have survived.
When it comes to Historia’s pregnancy, I still see it as a way for her to save herself from taking the Beast Titan. It was implied before, and it was implied now. There’s this idea of her pregnancy being pointless, but I think it was to save her skin and buy Eren some time to meet with Zeke. It’s selfish of her, yes, but she didn’t only do it for Eren; she did it for herself, too. She didn’t really want to be queen, she didn’t really want to be a titan, and maybe she didn’t really want to be a mother. But she did want to live, so she found a way to survive. At least she’s seen happy with her daughter. I hope that she named her Ymir, after the woman who sacrificed everything for her.
Paradis, the Eldian Empire, and the Yaegerists: Paradis is basically a stratocracy (a military-run government). It’s not shocking that they became a powerful country after the rest of the world was left in devastating states. Historia seems to be in power, though I can’t say she has complete authority over everyone. The Wings of Freedom were changed to two rifles and similar wings, a huge hint that their military is a high priority. Did anyone else notice that those in power are younger than the ones who used to be? Not to mention that the civil war in Paradis is very reminiscent to what happens in real life when small countries have civil uprisings. This “cycle of hate” will not end, and it’s a blatant message that can be applied to the real world. Theirs isn’t a happy ending, though it is as realistic as it can get.
Kiyomi is alive but what happened to Yelena? Also, Mikasa is pretty much royalty… Why didn’t that get addressed? I get that it’s not a central part of the story, but it is a major fact about her.
Reiner’s crush on Historia bugs me. It’s… weird? It seems like the little bit of comic relief we get in the chapter… It makes me wonder if the titans never existed and the world wasn’t at war, would Reiner actually be this creepy? lol
Armin and Annie? I guess it’s implied that they’re a couple, but I’m not so sure… She listens to what he has to say and watches him fondly. I think that’s enough to say that they’re canon… (for me, anyway lol)
Levi living outside of Paradis is fitting for someone who wants to live in peace, given that the Yeagerists tried to get rid of the older military leaders. Not to mention that it became a country that seems to be a stratocracy. He was injured severely during the Rumbling, so being in a wheelchair shouldn’t be surprising. The fact that Gabi and Falco are hanging out with him is adorable. I also like that Onyankopon lives!
Mikasa by Eren’s grave shouldn’t mean that she doesn’t have a life that doesn’t revolve around Eren. She lives on Paradis, her home. I’m sure that Historia looks after her. I’m also sure that she visits his grave frequently. Does Eren deserve her love? Probably not. But Mikasa does love him. She still mourns for him.
Overall, I liked the chapter. I wish my questions were answered. I’m sure I missed some things, but that’s all I have so far. I’m willing to reread SnK later on, but for my sanity’s sake, I’ll hold off on that lol.

SUMMARY | With the titans gone, no threats looming over the horizon, and summer being in full bloom, Survey Corps are left with one final and obvious thing to do: spend a day relaxing at the beach.
WORD COUNT | 3170
This has to be one of the hottest days yet, thought Levi as he looked out the window in Erwin’s office. He was slightly irritated by the golden yellow rays that were placing fire kisses on his form, making his charcoal black hair warm up to astronomical temperatures, his clothes suddenly too suffocating and his skin flush on areas such as his arms and cheeks. Outside those that were actually able to participate in training, would frequently stop to pour buckets of water over their head to cool off, their shirts long discarded and pants cuffed over the knees. The others that had given up, would rest under trees, basking in the shade or close to the building’s walls in the shade propagated by the roof. Erwin was sitting at his desk, completing the last set of documents for the day. The commander was by no means in a better state than anyone. His shirt was unbuttoned completely, exposing his muscular body, its sleeves cuffed just above the elbows. His hair was messily hanging over his forehead, where small beads of sweat would rest and trickle down his face. Levi grimaced, completely fed up of the intense smell of sweat oozing from his husband and the state in which the barracks and the soldiers where in, and stood up. The raven made his way to the desk at which the older man was absorbed completely in his work.
“Right, that’s enough.” Levi said, pulling Erwin out of his work. The blonde looked up and raised an eyebrow. “We need to do something about the heat.”
“And what do you propose?” Erwin rested his head in his hands, rubbing at his temples. “Please also keep in mind that I have not finished the documents yet.”
“Fuck your documents. That’s all you’ve been doing since we eradicated the titans, there’s no more work for us anymore and I’m sure the papers can wait for a while more. I think it’s time to enjoy the outside world, don’t you think?” Levi came behind Erwin and started massaging his shoulders.
“Yes. So this means…?” Erwin turned his head to look up at him, encouraging him to continue.
“I think we should go to the beach: me, you, Mike, Nanaba, Hange, Moblit, my squad, and those fetuses from the 104th. We worked hard, we did a good job. Even Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie are on our side now. It’s time to enjoy the fruits of our labour.” Levi proposed, giving Erwin a soft smile reserved just for him in their private moments. The older of the two furrowed his eyebrows and turned his head in thinking. After a moment, he let out a long and loud exhale, relaxing his shoulders completely, and turned to the raven reciprocating the same warm smile. With a slow nod, Erwin then told Levi, whose expression lit up like a Christmas tree: “Yes, I believe you are right. Please go announce the others and tell them to meet in 30 minutes at the front gate with their swimsuits and towels and whatever else they need in their bags. Do you want the blue or the green trunks?”
“Green.” Said Levi as he pecked Erwin’s cheek in appreciation, then made his way out the door.
-
Exactly 30 minutes later everyone gathered up at the gate, beaming with excitement, the sweat and dry heat in which they were engulfed moments ago long forgotten and replaced with visions of refreshing baths. Hange and Moblit displayed the biggest bags out of them all, stuffed to the brim with diving gear, and if their horses’ annoyed neighs and occasional stomping of foot was anything to go by: not at all light. Well, if it was for research then everything went through. Nanaba was the most relaxed out of them all as she didn’t have to carry, her bag in Mike’s possession, like the gentleman he was. Although, not only was he carrying her stuff but he also had a mini cooker secured in the back of his saddle, which was giving him a hard time, but he would do anything her and extra load was nothing for him. A year ago he had to carry so much more during battles and under more strenuous conditions.
The beach to which they went last year had been transformed into a port to encourage trade with other countries, so Erwin took up on Hange’s suggestion of visiting a new place they’d found while on patrol a few weeks before. The beach was beautiful, bushes and palm trees circling it then fading into white and smooth sand. The water was pristine and crystalline, the turquoise blending seamlessly into darker blues, hinting the constant increase in depth. The sun shone even more brightly than before as early morning had long passed, the afternoon now in full bloom. The impact it had on their skin was ebbed by the chilly breeze coming from the sea, ruffling their hair, clothes, and cloaks. As soon as they arrived, everyone unpacked and took off their clothing, leaving nothing but their bathing suits on.
After the initial excitement had passed and everyone had their share of refreshing baths, splashing in the sea, and taking in the landscape, they proceeded to split into groups. Mikasa and Annie had take the initiative of setting up a volleyball game against Sasha, Historia, and Ymir. At first, as the girls were getting used to the game, the ball flew smoothly over the net, passes were cautious, and serves almost every time would not get over the net. But as the real game began, Mikasa and Ymir were blocking and jumping with everything they had, Annie served way too hard, accidentally hitting Sasha on the head and making the girl fall with a loud thud, and Historia was making assists with Ymir. The atmosphere was thick with concentration and competitiveness from both parties. Those who watched their game might’ve thought the girls were giving their all. However, after a pretty shit serve from Annie, the ball was passed by Sasha who ducked down and with her forearms redirected the ball to Historia. The blonde little girl then bent her legs slightly, pushing the ball upwards towards virtually nobody. At that moment, Ymir ran and jumped, intercepting the ball, then smashed it over the net right into Mikasa's head. The raven stumbled on her feet and fell bottom first into the sand. With her body already full of sweat and remaining water from their previous bath, it should have not been a surprise when her whole figure became covered in sand. She grimaced and let out a sharp breath, then stood up to her feet, murder on her mind. Afterwards, Mikasa and Annie kept stealing points from their adversaries mercilessly, making Historia cry and Ymir throw empty threats their way. Sasha, being neutral, tried to calm both parties and bring them to a consensus, but to no avail. Not even three minutes later after the match had ended, Ymir, who had tried to calm down Historia, stood up and proposed another game, one in which she made sure she had the upper hand. Motivation and determination can do a lot of things to a person. For example, seeing her beloved cry was what fuelled the brunette to destroy Mikasa and Annie, intercepting their every ball over the net and smashing it to the floor, earning themselves plenty of points.
Next to them, the boys had also set up a football game. Jean was teamed up with Marlo and Bertholdt, while Eren was with Armin and Reiner. Connie took upon the role of being the referee, bringing his fingers to his mouth and failing miserably to whistle, only managing to produce wheezing sounds accompanied by saliva spraying anything within a two meters’ radius whenever there would be a fault or any other rule violation. Jean’s team was leading with Marlo as their goal getter and him defending flawlessly any attempt at scoring the other team made. The game carried on like this for ten minutes until he decided to glance in the girls’ direction. Sasha just bounced the ball over the net, the object spinning rapidly in the air and to the right side of Mikasa’s and Annie side, falling to the ground fast. Despite being almost impossible to catch, Mikasa ducked down at the last moment, intercepting it with her forearms in a platform pass in Annie’s direction, once again proving her inhumane abilities. Sure the rebound was impressive but what caught Jean’s attention was the way her spine bent, her hips arching up then landing with a thud on the ground, and most importantly, how the skin on her ass bounced slightly at the contact, deranging her Brazilian red bathing suit. At the moment Jean opened his mouth unconsciously in amazement. Eren, who had been watching the whole scene unfold, shot the football right in the fucker’s face, making his jaw and face scrunch in the opposite direction as the ball collided with his face. Jean let out a pained groan and stumbled to the ground.
“You fucking creep! Stop staring at my girlfriend. Also we just landed a goal on you.” Eren laughed then high fived with Reiner.
“I wasn’t looking! This game’s just so lame I intentionally distracted myself.” Jean sneered, rubbing at his face.
A little further in front of them, three absolutely lovely ladies were relaxing on their towels, working sun screen onto their skin with delicate rubbing movements. Hitch, being the palest out of all of them rubbed the most sun screen, claiming over and over again that she by no means could turn up to training looking like a crab at training the next day. Nanaba was chatting amicably with Petra. This was one of the first times they were able to talk outside of the Corps as they were on different squads, thus almost never having the time to do so. In the water in front of them, Eld, Gunther, and Auruo were trying to surf. But with the waves being so tame and low in height they just sat on their boards engaging in light conversation, each of them cracking a joke every now and then. Suddenly, something brushed again Auruo’s foot where it was resting on the sea’s floor. He shrieked in fear, disturbing his balance and falling with a big splash in the water. As he emerged from the water, he took a closer look and found a crab crawling across the sand. Auruo looked for a moment in the direction of the girls and with a mischievous smirk on his face, grabbed the creature carefully and headed in their direction. Poor Petra, oblivious of the danger that was approaching her in the form of her boyfriend, was resting on the towel on the verge of slumber when the cretin threw the creature on her. With an annoyed huff Petra opened her eyes, immediately focusing them on Auruo, whose gaze was directed at her stomach. Raising an eyebrow in question, she also directed her gaze there only to be found with the crab now crawling rapidly on her body. With a blood curling scream, Petra stood up and grabbed the poor creature, yanking it in the direction of his face. The crab, now completely confused and dizzy, grabbed the nearest object: Auruo’s ear, squeezing the piece of cartilage with an iron grip, drawing out a shriek of pain from the man. He grabbed the crab, freeing his ear from the excruciating pain, and threw it in a random direction. His plan had gone completely wrong. Without having time to recover from the abuse his ear received, his face was slapped by a very angry Petra.
“You moron, you completely and utterly stupid cretin of a man, how dare you?!” Petra shouted, grabbing his injured ear, making Auruo bite his tongue and drawing from the regretful man a tear that streamed down from his right eye right to the bottom of his jaw. The display made the red head soften slightly, “Don’t pull that shit ever again on me or I swear to god I’m gonna drop your sorry ass right then and there.” Auruo nodded earnestly then leaned and pressed a kiss to his girlfriend’s cheek.
Not only was the beach beautiful but it also had a wooden pontoon that extended far away into the water to regions where the depth was around 20 meters, right above a coral reef, much to Hange’s delight, who was frantically pulling their diving suit on then equipping themselves with the oxygen tank, goggles, and swimming fins. Moblit was trying to keep up with his partner in crime but found it impossible as he lacked the energy the other was seething with. Hange was first in the water, bitting on the breathing tube and drawing in a few breaths to test it, then put on her goggles with a slap, before submerging, not sparing a look behind to see if the other had followed them. With a sigh, poor Moblit jumped in the water, following them closely behind.
On the same pontoon, on the left side, Erwin, Levi, and Mike were fishing; rods in each of their hands. Levi didn’t find the activity at all appealing. It was just an excuse to hang around his husband. Was he being clingy? Yes, but he didn’t give a fuck. However, the other two seemed to be genuinely interested. They talked about all the kinds of fish they would like to catch, and made those awful dad jokes that just made Levi want to throw them both in the water. Suddenly, something tugged at his rod. He didn’t pay much attention but after a second, third, and fourth tug happened, he started working the reel, pulling whatever caught his lure. When he saw it wouldn’t budge, he pulled harder. By now, Erwin and Mike noticed that he had caught something and were watching him earnestly. As his struggle increased, Erwin started helping him pull but it still wouldn’t move. Mike decided to join and the three of them pulled, finally managing to pull the thing in their direction. The enormous fish emerged from the water with a high arched jump, landing directly on Levi, spreading his fluids all over his face. The man gag angrily before pushing it off then jumping in the water. After he rubbed his skin raw, the raven emerged from the water with a pissed off expression, only to see the thing’s lifeless body in Erwin’s hand. The fish had a pretty impressive size, but what softened Levi was not its size or his beautifully coloured body, all phosphorescent pink, greens, pinks, and purples, but Erwin’s pleased smile. Sighing, he climbed back on the pontoon and took the fish from Erwin’s hands and dropped it in the bucket.
“Filthy thing.”
-
As night finally settled over the beach, the group sat themselves around the bonfire Reiner and Bertholdt had managed to light up. Now huddled closely against his husband’s chest, Levi couldn’t help but feel completely at peace. Finally the danger had passed and they were now able to enjoy themselves fully without the fear of dying the next day. Mikasa and Eren were also cuddling together with a blanket Eren had brought, engulfed in their own world, engaging in hushed conversation accompanied by occasional kisses to the crowns of their heads, cheeks, and lips. Annie was laughing softly at something Armin was saying, running her hands through his hair, where he rested his head on her lap. Petra was telling a story to Eld, Gunther and Auruo, waving and motioning aggressively, her eyes wide open and the tone of her voice oscillating between loud and soft, depending on the events of the story. Hange was making observations about today’s research expedition or to put it simply: diving session, while Moblit was sketching furiously the kinds of marine life he saw today. The others were in their own small circle listening to Jean play the guitar, accompanied by Sasha’s and Hitch’s sweet voices, forming a calm and slow…love song? Judging by the warmth Levi’s stomach filled with, maybe it was a love song or a friendship one. One about hardship and finally finding relief and closure, whatever it was he could relate. As this song came to an end, Jean changed the chords and intonation signaling the beginning of a new song. Sasha and Hitch, apparently also familiar with it, began humming slowly at first, then chanting, then fully singing:
Well you didn't wake up this morning 'cause you didn't go to bed
You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red
The calendar on your wall was ticking the days off
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days
You pull back the curtains
And the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying
Across a clear blue sky
This is the day, your life will surely change
This is the day, when things fall into place
You could have done anything, if you wanted
And all your friends and family think that you're lucky
But the side of you they'll never see
Is when you're left alone with your memories
That hold your life together, like glue
You pull back the curtains
And the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying
Across a clear blue sky
This is the day, your life will surely change
This is the day, when things fall into place
This is the day (This is the day)
Your life will surely change
This is the day (This is the day)
Your life will surely change
As the song came to a stop, Levi finally identified the feeling that kept invading his stomach: love. He loved all of those people, although he would never admit it. Finally being able to see them be truly happy and enjoying the remaining of their lives, no longer in fear of the titans, was making him incredibly happy. With a soft and content smile now grazing his, he spoke:
“I wish this day would last forever.”
“Summer’s just begun, darling.” Replied Erwin, nuzzling and kissing the crown of his lover’s head. They now had their whole lives ahead of them; a million more days to enjoy, sunrises and sunsets to watch, and appreciate the existence of those to which they were close.
Notes:
The song mentioned in this fic is The The - This is the day. Thank you so much for reading my fic, notes and comments are welcomed. I honestly love them so much, each of them deserved so much more but Isayama is the devil incarnate so he won't let us have that. However good thing we have our imaginations, otherwise I'm sure none of us would have been able to cope. Obviously, I do not own any of the art or the characters of the show. This was just what fuelled my inspiration. Thank you so much for taking the time to read it!! Also check me out on Archive of our own @logllady99

ayo would u mind continuing ur marcel lives au?
Part 4 after two years :D
Since he and Annie have been discovered, Marcel knows it’s only a matter of time before Reiner and Bertholdt are discovered too.
As he’s running through Wall Rose territory, he hears of rumours of titans being spotted within the walls earlier that day.
Marcel gets fearful that they had already tried to apprehend Reiner and Bertholdt
But he ultimately knows that if he wants to see his family again, he’ll have to make sure Reiner and Bertholdt get home too.
So when he hears there’s soldiers in the south of Wall Rose, that’s where he heads off quickly.
Eventually, he finds the base the 104th were kept in and finds a soldier ripped apart, as well pure titans nearby.
He throws up at the scene before him.
Marcel very quickly figures out that this is Zeke’s doing and he must be inside the walls.
As the sun is going down, he deduces that Zeke would hold up in a base somewhere, so he finds a map and checks the nearest places Zeke is likely to be.
While checking all the locations, he eventually comes across Utgard Castle, but hesitates to go on when he sees horses.
He doesn’t know if their Survey Corps, but he figures it can’t be as bad as the pure titans wondering around, and hopes that the news of him being a traitor hasn’t reached everyone yet.
Being extremely cautious, he enters and goes up the stairs and slowly opens the door...to the 104th starring at him.
Marcel almost shuts the door and runs away but he notices their expressions aren’t of hate or malice, just... surprise?
To be fair, he hadn’t expected them to be there either...
They all greet him as normal, and as if nothing had changed, albeit being a while since he had seen them all last.
Reiner and Bertholdt seem extremely cautious and guarded.
Connie jokingly asks him if he’s seen a ghost.
Marcel tries to laugh it off, although he sounds very anxious and scared, saying he almost got eaten by a Titan.
Marcel then tries to pretend that after hearing titans were in Wall Rose, he was sent to help out.
This cover is almost blown immediately by the Survey Corps veterans who look at him with a lot of suspicion.
Looking for an excuse to wonder off so he can think, he goes into one of the rooms where he sees the crate full of supplies.
He immediately puts two and two together to figure out that Zeke must have brought these, but he wouldn’t have been able to carry these, so was Pieck here too?
Had Porco come along too???
The thought of seeing Porco again makes Marcel happy, but also extremely fearful for him.
Surprisingly Connie comes in, looking unsettled.
After asking what was wrong, Connie explains to Marcel that he was certain a Titan talked earlier, and told him ‘Welcome home’ in his village.
Marcel’s heart drops when he realises Zeke has turned his entire village into titans and doesn’t have the heart to say anything to Connie.
But instead, he tries to distract Connie and himself, by handing Connie a random can of food.
“Have some herrings, not so good, if you ask me, but better then nothing...”
“Herrings? What are those? I’ve never heard of them...actually, how can you even read this label, it’s just weird symbols...?”
Marcel freezes.
Herrings can only be found in salt water, such as the ocean, so it would make sense for the people of the walls not to know what they are right?
He could reason that they had them in the interior, but how would he explain being able to read the label???
Before he can answer, one of the veterans shout at them all to wake up as many pure titans approach them.

-AU that instead of turning herself into crystal, Annie Leonhart is being telepathically sent into another universe: FMA Brotherhood. (Where her dad never said anything before she left and she never blamed the boys, particularly Reiner as Marcel survived and just follow the flow) Part 1
Annie will find herself shock to lay down on the grass on the other universe where instead of segregated society, it’s a more flexible society.
First of first, she needs to blend in well and while she settle down herself by finding a nice flat with an affordable price, she tried to find any domestic work that deemed well to blend in.
That’s when she stop by the Central Command, the State Military, where they display a poster about ‘State Alchemist’, which suddenly peaked her interest. She quietly and swiftly learn about the alchemy, manage to grasp the basics and in order to keep her true power secret, she will need to find other way to provide service to the military due to the reasonable pay as well as equality treatment. She mastered it within 10 days.
When she first entered the office for the exam, most of the exam proctors are genuinely surprised as this was the first that they received a woman who wants to become a state alchemist. The seniors, Isaac Mcdougal, Solf J Kimblee, Basque Grand, Giolio Comanche, and other older alchemists who mandatorily witness the exam to evaluate themselves glanced curiously as Annie performed her alchemy test swiftly and had passed on the spot with the title ‘Aine Alchemist’. due to her radiance and cautious performance that consist of hardening her limbs in crystal, as well as able to expertly use her crystal in hand to hand combatant sealing the alchemy seal on her nape as well as a seal to prevent her from transform unexpectedly (she found a specialist to deal with that).
Ever since that day, she instantly and unexpectedly became popular as many soldiers seemed to have a crush but are afraid to approach her due to the rank differences as most are fresh graduates. They will steal glance while in the cafeteria or at the hallway. Annie likely was unaware of the glances she received. She retained her trademark hair tie.
She bumped into Alex Louis Armstrong, firstly became indifferent and concealed her annoyance when Alex gloried about his lineage but then became impressed when he showed his powers and slowly became friends as they are seen walking together often as she found solace on his sincere and kind nature and slightly make small jokes with him.
The Higher Ups and Fuhrer had their eyes on her as she perform transmutation without a circle, as they suspect her to already open the Gates and Fuhrer had marked her as one of the ‘Human Sacrifice’ candidates while discreetly maintain a friendly rapport with Annie.
Annie slowly became friends with the men she was stationed with as they unsuccessfully hid their blush as they are eager to work with her.
Surprisingly a quiet and too independent to rely on her alchemy power.
She retained her quiet and aloof nature but secretly appreciate every single one of them.
She was disgusted with Giolio as the man seemed eager to participate in war and found herself irritated with Basque as the man is aggressively fierce and loud but she could tolerate them as she was being treated equally and no longer have to put up with prejudice system.
Every week, by the end of the week, the State Military will conduct a meeting to see their progression, one amongst the state alchemists and another with the Higher Ups. Annie found herself get accustomed with the atmosphere as she could get along with the other state alchemists.
Roy Mustang also happen to be a novice like her and while they are not close, they appear to be in stable relationship.
Everyday, in her mind, she prayed that her fellow Warriors are safe, Bertholdt stop fidgeting, Reiner, stop talking about noble acts and Marcel, please hold on to the group like he always capable of.

Please can I request headcanons to the 104th, Erwin and Levi having a crush on girl who has photosensitive Epilepsy. Thank you for your time and have a great day :)
Photosensitive Epilepsy and Me
Hey there! I kinda have limited knowledge about PSE, so I hope this came out okay. Due to the large number of characters you requested, I kept it all short. Hope you understand, and thanks for the request!
Wiki def: Photosensitive epilepsy (PSE) is a form of epilepsy in which seizures are triggered by visual stimuli that form patterns in time or space, such as flashing lights; bold, regular patterns; or regular moving patterns.
※ Warnings: none!
※ Characters: 104th cadets, Erwin, Levi
Erwin:
Interested to know more about it, seeing it as just another facet of your being.
Helps you avoid your triggers and will do a whole PSA in order to boost military care, as well as show you the soldiers how much their Commander cares for them.
Makes sure everyone receives the right training to respond to a situation. Fumbles a little himself.
Levi:
Gets rid of anything that could possibly be a trigger.
Don't bother trying to assure him the things that won't because he's overtly cautious and stubborn — it's insane sometimes.
Shadows you without your knowledge.
He's well prepared if you ever have a seizure.
Eren:
Hates people being hurt in any way, especially when they can't do anything about it, and even more so when it's someone he cares about.
Feels helpless all the time.
He'll try his utmost best to learn everything as quickly as he can and help you avoid triggers.
Prepared, but gets flustered easily.
Armin:
Confused as to how you've survived so long just dealing with it, and secretly admires your strength.
Eager to learn more and prove his usefulness.
He'll stumble a little when a seizure happens, but otherwise bounces back before...you know... you die...
At least that's the outcome he's drawn in his head.
Mikasa:
Smothers you a lot.
If she had it her way, she'd keep you locked indoors in a basement somewhere so you'd be safe, but knows it's not a fate she'd ever want you to taste.
Ferociously shields you from anything that could be harmful.
Also well prepared for your seizures.
Jean:
Puts it upon himself to educate everybody and their mama on PSE.
Follows you around to your annoyance, until he nervously states why and so you let him be.
Isn't as prepared as he would've liked when you had a seizure, but was able to help a little some how.
Marco:
Immediately understanding and puts it upon himself to actively help you.
Also follows you around, but you don't really mind, and takes the time to warn everybody about your triggers.
Clumsy, but pulls through in the last minute.
Connie:
Sticks by your side like you're Siamese twins.
Doesn't really understand the technicalities of PSE, but gets the gist.
That is, until you see him whacking random shit he thinks would be considered a trigger.
God forbid you have a seizure around him though.
You understand his intentions are pure but him panicking and attacking random shit in hopes that you would S T O P doesn't help.
Sasha:
Can somewhat sense when you're going to have a seizure, completely forgets what she's supposed to do though.
Will disappear for a while to beat the warning signs and what to dos into her bones before she faces you again.
Apologizes a lot.
Krista/Historia:
Asks you be patient with her and to explain it as much as you can, what you think she should know, and writes it all down to memorize later.
Very accommodating and a tad worrisome.
Also prepared.
Ymir:
Tries to convince you to run away with her, and that she'd take care of you right off the bat.
Doesn't care if you know about her feelings — wants you to know about her feelings.
Threatens anything that threatens you.
Horribly unprepared.
Reiner:
Diligently learns everything there is to know about PSE.
Destroys shit too. Follows too. Annoying too.
You keep telling him to chill, and he does, fearing he'll make you upset.
Thing is, that only lasts for 0.001 seconds before he starts fussing again.
Bertholdt:
On edge all the time for your triggers.
Valiantly (nervously) offering his help as soon as you seem like you need it.
Always present.
Reaction to a seizure varies.
Annie:
Asks a lot of curt questions.
Seems to treat it like another thing on her list of things to not worry about, but secretly hoping she could fix you too.
Rambles a lot about possible cures, and is a tad smothering.
Also well prepared.
And that's it! Was it informative? Interesting? Needs a little more?
Let me know what you think!

Mission Success: Chapter 14
Eren lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling in boredom. Reiner and Bertholdt had left about three hours ago to go see their families, leaving him basically alone in this new place. In that amount of time, he had tried to talk to Ymir and Krista, the only other people he knew, but the freckled girl had pretty much just hissed at him and shut the door in his face. He had also attempted to converse with Pieck and the bronze haired asshole that had broken Reiner's nose, but the he was...well, an asshole.
A knock sounded on the door, causing Eren to groan." Fair warning, I'm not in the greatest mood right now."
The door opened to reveal a familiar pair of green eyes." Hello, Eren."
Eren propped himself up on his elbows so he could look at his half brother better." Did you come here for a reason?"
"I did."
"...Was it to show off your new haircut?"
Zeke chuckled." No. I thought that with Reiner and Bertholdt gone, you might be a little bored."
Eren flopped back on the bed." More than a little."
"Good; then will you join me for the afternoon?"
Eren blinked and sat up all the way."... What exactly will we be doing?"
Zeke scratched at his ear mindlessly." Oh, a little catch, maybe some coffee, or some drinks if you prefer that."
"What's catch?"
The blonde man stared at him in disbelief." You don't know what catch is?"Eren shook his head.
"Then you have to come with me and play. Life isn't the same without catch."
Eren stared at him for a minute before shrugging." It beats doing nothing," he said as he stood up. Zeke gave him a smile as the boy pulled on the red armband.
"Alright, follow me; we have to get mitts first," he said, turning around and leading his brother out into the hall.
"What are mitts?" Eren asked, catching up and walking side by side with Zeke.
"Mitts are like big, leather gloves that you wear on one hand that you catch a baseball with."
"What's a baseball?..."
Zeke smiled again as he began to explain." A baseball is a certain type of ball used in a game called baseball. In the game, you have a two teams that take turns playing certain roles; someone is a batter, someone is the pitcher, and the others are catchers and outfielders..."
As he explained the game to Eren, Zeke went to his own room and grabbed two worn leather mitts before leading Eren outside to the training field. By the time they got there, the blonde man had finished explaining the game and was giving Eren tips on how to catch, aim, and throw like a pro.
"You ready?" Zeke asked eagerly, handing Eren a mitt. The boy took it and shrugged.
"I think I got the basics. Which hand do I put this on?"
"The one you write with." Zeke began backing away, creating some distance between them while he produced an old, dingy white ball the size of a fist." Ready?"
Eren nodded, shuffling his feet into a comfortable position. Zeke also shifted a little, pivoting and bringing one leg off the ground. A split second later, Zeke brought his arm back and launched the ball at Eren, who instinctively sidestepped as the ball flew past him, missing him only by a few inches.
"What the hell?!"
"I was testing you. It seems that when something comes at you at a high speed, you avoid it. Interesting..." Zeke mused. Eren picked up the ball and threw it at his brother.
"Well, on ODM gear, you have to, or else you either get smashed, shot, eaten, or all three."
"ODM gear?" Zeke asked curiously, winding up for another pitch. Eren glowered at him.
"Another throw like that last one and I'm going back inside."
Zeke threw the ball, letting it gracefully fly through the air before Eren caught it.
"ODM gear was what Reiner and Bertholdt were wearing when we arrived that day," Eren explained as he threw the ball back. Zeke was happy to note that his brother had a good arm.
"Oh, really? How does it work?" He threw the ball.
Eren caught it." Belts for weight distribution and balance, gas and cables for moving, and blades for killing." He threw it back to Zeke, who caught it with ease.
"Hmm... I'm guessing it was a weapon for killing Titans?"
The ball was thrown, and caught.
"Yeah. All soldiers had to learn to use it, but the only regiment that needs it are the Scouts."
The ball continued to fly between them as their conversation went on.
"Scouts?"
"The people who go outside the Walls to fight for humanity. Like me."
"What are the other regiments?"
"The Garrison and the Military Police. The Garrison isn't bad, but the M.P.s are just... I don't know, below standards for human intelligence and moral."
Zeke chuckled as he caught the ball." I see..."
Eren sighed, watching as the ball came back his way." Yeah...I wanted to join the Scouts ever since I was little, before Reiner and Bertholdt broke down the Wall..."
Zeke watched as Eren's face molded into pain and anger. When he caught the ball, he lowered his hand.
"...When they broke down Maria-"
"The place they smashed open was my hometown," Eren said, gritting his teeth and curling his free hand into a fist." When Bertholdt kicked in the Wall, a chunk of it fell on my house... It crushed it on top of my Mom. She was trapped under a heavy beam... I couldn't lift it...even if I could, her legs were crushed. She wouldn't have been able to run away..." Eren's voice cracked, and he looked up to the sky.
Zeke watched him for a moment before stuffing the ball in his pocket and taking the mitt off his hand. He put it under his arm as he closed the distance between him and Eren. When he reached him, Zeke put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"When I found out who they were... I wanted to kill them. Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie... I thought they took everything from me, and it hurt. Reiner and Bertholdt especially. They were like the big brothers of the Cadet Corps; hell, I looked up to Reiner as a big brother! And now... I still don't know everything, but I know every person here, that's like us... They've had shit lives...so now... I don't want to kill them... I just...want to know how I can fix our lives so no one like us has to suffer like this..."
Eren felt lighter as he poured out his heart to Zeke; he had been carrying that heavy load ever since he'd set foot on the boat. Zeke nodded, understanding what Eren meant.
"I know how you feel, Eren... You want to free Eldians from suffering. So did I; that's why I became the Beast Titan."
Eren shifted his gaze to the ground, staring at the dirt below his shoes. Zeke let him stew in a moment of silence.
"I'm also guessing that you miss your old friends? The ones back on the island."
Eren lifted his head and smiled a little." Yeah, I do miss them. They were a great bunch." Eren looked happy for a moment before confusion furrowed his brow.
"When I brought it up to Bertholdt and Reiner earlier, they started acting weird... Reiner was about to talk about them, but Bertholdt made him stop... It doesn't make sense."
Zeke shook Eren by the shoulder a little.
"Don't stress over it. It's just that they would get in trouble for talking positively about the people on the island, not because they don't want to talk about it."
"Oh..." A loud rumble cut through the air, causing Zeke to crack a smile.
"Well... I say that we stop practice and go get something to eat," said Zeke, watching Eren pull off his mitt.
"Yeah... I am pretty hungry..."
"Do want to eat in Liberio?"
Eren blinked." Liberio?"
"Yes, Liberio. It is the hometown of us Eldians. Want to see it?"
Eren looked thoughtfully at his feet before shrugging." Sure, why not?"
......................................................................................................
Eren couldn't believe it. It just had to be too good to be true. There was no way that there could be something this incredibly amazing.
"I take it you've never had ice cream before, have you?" Zeke was watching him with an amused expression on his face. Eren barely looked up from his bowl of heaven.
"...No...how...how is this...so good?!"
Zeke leaned back in his chair with a light grin on his lips.
"Ok, you like clam chowder, garlic bread, strawberry cupcakes, and vanilla ice cream. Noted."
Eren went back to inhaling the treat in front of him, ignoring everything around him. The soft, cold, creamy sweetness in his mouth had taken over him completely. When he finished, he just about burst into tears. He would've given his Titan powers to have more.
"Alright, Eren, I've taken you to lunch, given you a tour of our little town, and got you ice cream. It's time to head back to H.Q." Zeke stood up, pushing his chair back. Eren glanced longingly at the empty bowl in fron of him before reluctantly standing up.
"Okay..."
As they exited what Zeke called a "creamery", Eren reflected on the past few hours he'd spent with his brother. Zeke had lead them to a wall topped with barbed wire coils on top, where they met two guys with weird names-Meriadoc and Peregrine. They seemed pretty well aquatinted with one another, and several minutes passed as they exchanged small talk about the "surprise the big boy gets when he arrives home" before Zeke showed them a tiny book with his picture in it. Then the two of them walked through the wall into Liberio, where Eren gawked in shock.
If the buildings in Marley were average homes, then the buildings in Liberio were the lowest of the low. Everywhere Eren looked, he saw grey brick. Homes, shops, wells, roads, fountains- everything was the same drab grey. Zeke must've picked up on his growing confusion because he then explained that Liberio was often referred to as the ghetto, where everything was below standards in almost every conceivable way. Except for the food.
Zeke had taken Eren to a small corner "cafe" for lunch, where he had ordered the establishment's specialty, which was clam chowder that came with fresh, buttery garlic bread. When he had received his, Eren had sniffed it before taking a cautious bite. Then his eyes went wide as the flavors danced across his tongue. Needless to say, Eren had finished a long time before Zeke did.
After their little lunch stop, Zeke had taken it upon himself to give his little brother a thorough tour of Liberio. He had taken Eren to the market square to show him all the stalls and vendors with their unique goods first, introducing Eren to various shopkeepers. One cheeky woman(a baker, where Eren had quickly devoured a strawberry cupcake)had giggled as Zeke aquatinted them.
"My, you look a little bit like a girl who lives nearby. Her name is Gabi, and boy, you both have a ferocious look in your eyes. Seems right for her to be, seeing how her cousin had the honor of being the Armored Titan."
After they had left that stall, Zeke had declared that they had to go soon, but that they could do one more thing. That's when he had dragged Eren into the creamery, and where Eren had fallen in love with the flavor of vanilla. As far as Eren was concerned, it had been a great day. And as for his brother...
"You know what? You're not as bad as I thought you would be," Eren said, slipping his hands in his pockets and turning his face up to the setting sun. Zeke quirked a brow at him and slipped his own hands in his pockets.
"Oh, really? How bad did you think I was?"
Eren shrugged." It doesn't matter anymore. Let's just say I'm going to like having you as my brother."
Zeke smiled." Is that so? Well, then, looks like you finally warmed up to me."
A comfortable, easygoing silence fell between the two brothers as they continued to headquarters, both feeling a little closer to the other.

Yeager brothers! I hope this satisfies you all! Up next will be our dear Ymir and fair Krista, having a little day together. Hmm... I'll need to get creative for those two... Blanket forts, anyone?

hey! so since you've recently opened up requests again, i've got something for ya. jeanpiku.

But Of Course You Never Would
JeanPiku. Prisoner!Pieck AU.
2023 words.
Buy me a ko-fi!
Jean dislikes taking care of the prisoners, but it’s safer to alternate the role rather than to keep the same guards day in and day out. He’s seen the former military policeman responsible for torturing the enemies of the royal family before the crowning of Historia Reiss, that wicked gleam in their eyes as they spoke about the crimes they committed for the crown. It seemed as though they had no remorse for their sins at all, believing that those who were unjustly executed or imprisoned had deserved the torment that was inflicted upon them. He remembers sitting in the courtroom listening to them as they bragged about their cruel punishments, cackling as they recalled prisoners who had cried or begged for their lives. Surely, these men had been normal soldiers just like him when they had first begun, but something must have changed along the way. Jean shivers as he imagines the same inhuman transformation taking place in him as he comes down to the dungeon. It couldn’t happen, could it? Although he could never be considered a good person after everything he’s done, he can’t be a bad person either, can he?
He thought he was sure of the latter, but he begins to doubt it whenever he enters the dungeon. It’s not just the prison – dark and dreary with hardly any sunlight streaming in from the barred windows of the cells – that makes him feel like his soul slowly slipping from him. It’s the faces of the prisoners, especially these prisoners they’ve captured from Marley, that trouble him the most because they’re a constant reminder of what happened on Liberio and the countless lives were lost in the crossfire. He might not have been the one to start the fire that had burned down the Liberio, but he had been one of the ones to fan the flames. He was responsible too.
Porco was easier to deal with than the other prisoner. The Jaw Titan, despite the power he held and his empty threats, likes to spit venomous accusations at them, reminding them of their destruction. He hurls insults at the soldiers who come down, Jean included. They’re always the same. Monsters, devils, demons. Some goad him into it; Jean has seen others laugh about the way they’ve taunted the Jaw Titan and how pathetic his name-calling is now that he’s been shackled and locked away, ultimately useless no matter how many times he says he wants to kill them. But even if Jean does nothing to him, nothing at all except replace his necessities, Porco still spits at him and glares at him with a murderous look in his eyes. But Jean can’t blame him.
He tries to get in and out of Porco’s cell block as soon as possible, but he always hears Porco’s shouts chasing down the hallway. Murderer. Monster. Demon. Devil. He begins to hear them for so long that he thinks they might be true.
It is Pieck, though, that he hates dealing with the most. There’s something disturbing about the casual way she talks to her prison guards, ignoring their insults or silence and roping them into a conversation. She always greets him with a smile and thanks him for her meal even though it’s just plain bread and meat.
“You’re Jean, aren’t you?” she asks as she sits cross-legged on the floor of her cell. She looks at him with a pleasant smile on her face, picking off a piece of her bread and popping it in her mouth.
“Yeah,” he mumbles before he remembers that he’s not supposed to talk to the prisoners, Pieck in particular. Zeke and Yelena had warned them about her, but it’s difficult to believe how clever she can be when she’s the one in the cell with chains to restrain her. She doesn’t look threatening to him, but she doesn’t look exactly helpless either. She looks as if she rather enjoys being imprisoned, although Jean has no idea why.
“Jean, Jean, Jean,” Pieck says as if seeing how much she enjoys the feeling of his name rolling off her tongue. She tilts her head at him and smiles. “Do you know my name?”
“Pieck,” he replies without thinking again. Despite the setting, her easygoing attitude makes it easy to forget where they are and their relationship towards each other. He should hate her after all she’s done, and she should feel the same way about him, but somehow it’s difficult for him to feel that way when she doesn’t scream at him the way her comrade does. He’s suspicious as to why she’s so conversational. He remembers talk amongst the others who have served prison guards murmuring about the strange woman who always seemed to want to speak to them, to get to know them, but Armin had always advised them not to engage in conversation with her. He’s about to open his mouth and ask her, but she smiles, and he forgets his question.
“I remember you, you know,” Pieck says, sitting back. There’s a smile on her face and a gleam in her eye that looks like she’s plotting what, although Jean can’t possibly imagine what she could be planning when she’s locked up in here with nowhere to go. “Not on Marley, I mean. Of course, I remember on Marley as well, but we met before that, haven’t we? That was when I was on this island the first time, do you remember? You were crying for your friends, but you were crying for Betholdt and Reiner too. I thought that was strange, but it was because they were your friends too, weren’t they?”
He knows then that the reason why they had all warned the others to be cautious of Pieck. She’s clever, too clever, and she knew how to use the little information she had to her advantage. While Porco knew how to use his words to make them sting, Pieck knew how to use them and make them hurt.
“I should go,” he mumbles, turning to leave like he should have done right from the beginning. He would have gone, should have gone, but he sees her get up from the corner of his eye and when she stumbles, he has to stop himself from asking if she’s alright. She’s already noticed though.
“Were you going to ask me if I was okay?” Pieck asks curiously, an amused smile on her face. She’s caught her balance against the wall, leaning against it because standing up by herself is too difficult and they’ve denied her of her crutches. It’s something that he and Armin though too cruel, but others pointed out that it wasn’t as if she’d be given enough space to walk about. “Oh, Jean, you are a good person, aren’t you?”
He shouldn’t listen. He should just ignore her like he had been ordered, but he can’t help but spit back, “Is there such a thing?”
“You don’t believe there is?” Pieck asks curiously. She pushes herself from off the wall and stumbles over to the cell bars. “I imagine you’re all good people for being the saviors of this island. The sacrifices you’ve made have surely kept your people safe…at least for now. Are you not proud?”
He doesn’t speak, foolishly thinking that she’ll lose interest if he refuses to engage with her. He sees her lips curl in a smile though, and he knows that he hears his true answer whispered in the silence: No. I’m not proud at all. I’ve never been more ashamed of the path I’ve chosen.
“You’re right. How could you be after all you’ve done?” Pieck says with a humorless laugh. She looks at him with such a cruel, malicious smile that says she knows exactly what she’s doing to him, that she had planned this all along. “You’ve kept your people safe, but at the price of mine. Children too. You’ve destroyed my home, reduced it to ash and rubble. And even though I have nothing left there, you’ve forced me to abandon them when they need me the most. Someone like you could never be called a good person.”
He balls his hand into a fist, glaring at her. “Not another word,” he growls, but she only smirks at him from behind her prison bars.
“You know that boy who was with me? You took him and his friend Gabi too. Hopefully, you’re treating them far better than how you’re treating me,” Pieck continues, ignoring Jean. “His friends, Udo and Zofia, were caught in the crossfires. They didn’t make it out alive. He was completely distraught over them. I’m sure you know what it’s like to lose a friend, but what’s it like to be the one to have taken them away? Does it feel good, Jean?”
He remembers Marco, remembers finding his half-eaten body in the streets of Trost, remembers when he had discovered that Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie were responsible for his death. Is this how they felt after they had watched him die? He doesn’t know how they lived with themselves. He doesn’t know how he can live with himself now.
“Shut up,” Jean snarls, but his voice is shaking. He steps towards her cell with no idea about what he’s going to do next, but he knows he has to stop her from talking. He can’t stand her talking. “Shut up right now or –“
“Or what?” Pieck asks, raising her eyebrows in mock surprise. “What could be worse than what you’ve already done to me? Let me starve? Torture me? Kill me? Go on, Jean. Go ahead and take out that gun of yours and shoot me like you should have done all along.”
That’s right. He should have done this from the beginning, he thinks as he fumbles for his gun. It doesn’t matter that they’ve taken her prisoner. They haven’t learned anything from her and nothing good comes out of the power of the Titans. It’s better to get rid of her now, he knows, but his hand trembles as he pulls out his gone and holds it to her head.
“Go ahead,” Pieck says, even reaching out to wrap her hand around his. “It might make you feel better. Or is it that you’re weak? Back then in Liberio, you could have killed me off with your thunder spear, but you didn’t. Do you tell yourself at night that it was because you missed, or do you know it was because you pointed it away at just the last second even though you would have done the same whether or not the boy was there?”
Even with her fingers around his, he can’t find it in himself to pull the trigger. He thought that it’s what he wanted, but he can’t bear the thought of her blood spattered across the walls, her body falling to the floor, and the smoking gun clattering to the ground as it fell to the floor. So he lowers the gun, ashamed that he had ever raised it in the first place.
Pieck watches as he withdraws his gun, the smile on her face saying that she had known this would happen all along. “Of course, you couldn’t do it,” she says softly with a hint of amusement. “You could be faced with the greatest opportunity to do away with your enemy. All you would have to do is pull the trigger but, of course, you never would, Jean. That’s just the sort of person you are.”
“Why can’t I?” he whispers, voice trembling. He looks down, horrified at the tears that drip down his face. He knows the other soldiers would never have hesitated to pull the trigger – not back then and not now – so why does he?
“Because you’re not a good person,” Pieck says. She reaches out from between the bars, lifting his chin gently with her hand. Gone is the cruel look in her eyes, replaced with something softer. Something like sympathy. “You are a kind person. And a weak person. And those are the worst things to be in a world like this.”

AoT Week - Day 3
Yumikuri. Battle at Castle Utgard.
Word Count: 809
Is there a point to living? What good is it if she must suffer day after day? Was this punishment for living as a goddess for so long? Maybe a younger, more naïve person would have traded this pain and humiliation for a moment of worship and glory. She's already been there. It's not worth it.
She'd rather have this freedom. Oh, being a soldier might not really be freedom. Picking up a blade to protect others, putting them before your own life, what kind of freedom is that? But she prefers it to be being chained up, sneered at, made into a devil. The food is shit, the people are idiots at times, but she's not demonized for being someone she's not and she'll take this over playing goddess any day. And yet something has brought her back to the very past she was running away from.
What choice did she have, really? She could stand there at the top of the tower while the rest of her companions panicked as the Titans clamber up the castle tower to eat them. She could transform and escape by herself. Or she could transform and save them all. Perhaps she would have just saved her own ass but looking at Christa beside her, she couldn't fathom doing that now.
So she snatches Connie's dagger, slashes her own hand, and jumps down before anyone can comprehend what's going on. She hears Christa, oh precious Christa, calling her name as she falls and she can't help but smile a little bit before she fully transforms into the monster everyone had hated her for being so long ago.
Fighting with blades as you zoomed around with 3DMG is far different than fighting as a Titan. The former is thrilling in a way, but the latter is exhilarating. She's never realized it until now. Even for her small form, almost miniscule compared to the average size of other Titans, she's agile and powerful enough to tear apart other Titans, felling them down one by one faster than she can count.
She has to be cautious though. She glances at the tower, already teetering precariously from all of the previous damage. It'd be so much easier to just tear it down but there are people there.
As she's thinking this when a Titan knocks into her and she groans from the pain. She can't let down her guard. She gets up again, but it's tougher this time. Her movements aren't as quick or her attacks as strong. Her movements are restrained. She doesn't want one wrong move to send the castle crashing down while simultaneously sending her friends to their deaths.
But a voice calls her name. It's shouting something. "Tear down the castle!" It's Christa, she realizes. She turns to see the girl stomping at the very edge, in danger of falling, but Christa couldn't give less of a shit. She just wants Ymir to hear her. "Just tear it down!"
She'll do her one better.
The group seems to be surprised when Ymir clambers up the tower. They're startled by her words, probably surprised that Titans could talk, so she has to repeat them again.
"If you don't want to die, grab on!"
Christa doesn't hesitate. Before Connie, Reiner, and Bertholdt have a good grip on her, she's off. Down the tower goes and she uses the stones it's made out of as projectiles. They're more effective than she's anticipated. She's sure her mouth is stretched in a terrifying grin.
But her speed and small size, even her new weapons, aren't a big enough advantage. They have her beat in number. They're grabbing her arms and legs, dragging her down and tearing her apart. The pain of having herself being eaten alive is nothing compared to the one in her heart, searing because she can't prevent the death of the one she holds most dear.
There are shouts. One's from Connie and he seems to be looking at something further ahead. A mountain of Titans pile onto her and she can only see black and red.
What is the point of living if your sacrifice ends in your death and the death of those you were trying to protect?
Am I dead? she thinks as she opens her eyes.
A hand touches her face, cradling her gently. "Ymir." Oh, this is better than death, she thinks as she gazes up at the face of the one she loves most. Christa. "My name is Historia."
Historia. It's even better than the name she had known her by before. It's perfect.
She understands now, why people live. It's for moments like this.
She's never felt more at peace than she has now, her limbs gone and painfully regenerating. The girl she cares for the most watches her with eyes so gentle. They're filled with love.
