juvia and lisanna headcanons pt.2

♡ when lisanna sees gajeel rock up to the guild hall for the first time with pantherlily at his side, she grabs juvia and asks how well she knows gajeel. all it takes is one word from juvia and the four of them are off on a guild mission. pantherlily asks lisanna how she's adjusting and suddenly they're recounting all of their edolas adventures to juvia and gajeel. the two, in turn, talk about their phantom lord days and how they joined fairy tail. to their surprise, lisanna laughs her ass off.

♡ after that, lisanna finally feels a semblance of normality. she goes on missions with juvia the most, sometimes with mira (if the job is simple and close by), and she even goes with gajeel and lily without juvia.

♡ the talking-to-everyone-again pipeline goes juvia -> pantherlily and gajeel -> levy and team shadowgear -> lucy (which lisanna still feels a bit weird about) -> wendy -> natsu and erza. when she finally, finally talks to natsu and erza again, lisanna finds that it's not as scary as she thought it was. they're both rather protective of her, but she supposes it's okay in the guild hall. less flying tables come her way.

♡ lisanna is the one who hypes up juvia to try to talk to gray again. or just get her to stop avoiding him. lisanna gets the deets from erza and cana, learning that their initial interactions were... less than ideal, and after gray flat out rejected her, juvia totally avoided him for fear of straining their relationship more. lisanna, regaining her mischievous streak, straight up shoves juvia to the table when she hears gray talking about the local sea life. awkwardness be damned, marine biology gets both of them talking. later, juvia thanks lisanna for helping her repair her friendship with gray with a small grin on her face.

♡ they gossip sooooo much. it's common to see lisanna and juvia seated at the bar, whispering and giggling to mira as they look over their shoulders at the guild hall.

♡ juvia didn't grow up around a lot of people, so she's very gullible about mundane things. lisanna decided that this is the one area she won't exercise her mischief in. she turns erza levels of scary when natsu convinces juvia that bunnies can hop high enough to get into trees.

♡ juvia likes to bake for her friends; lisanna can't bake to save her life. juvia tries to teach lisanna how to bake and they start a kitchen fire. erza scolds them but she's placated when juvia offers her a piece of homemade strawberry cake.

♡ lisanna is the more sociable of the two, and she's the one who drags juvia to any party going on at fairy tail. juvia usually sticks to gajeel and sometimes levy, but lisanna is elated when juvia agrees to play beer pong. they destroy cana and gray and all four of them end up very, very drunk.

♡ juvia and lisanna team up to tease gajeel. natsu always watches them in slight horror. gajeel usually pulls lisanna into a headlock, ge-he-he-ing.

♡ juvia also feels more acclimated to fairy tail. all of them are, in a sense, "outsiders," but coming together has strengthened their bond as a whole. so when the s-class trials roll around, juvia is both shocked and honored to be considered for it. everyone is cheering, but no one can beat lisanna's or gajeel's energy. they have to choose a partner to help them, and who does juvia choose to help her achieve s-class? her best friend, of course.

Best of 2023 Movies #2: Oppenheimer

Portmanteau can be found in all weird places.

When it comes to 2023 one dominates.

The other half of this comes from a venerable talent who takes another crack at a historic period and sees the talent one man possesses and changed things.

J Robert Oppenheimer was known for his work with physics and his concept of seeing matter.

One aspect he would come to use that for as one of the leading minds with the Manhattan Project was the development of a nuclear weapon. The ones that would be used within a 72 hour period on Japan to bring an end to World War II.

What Christopher Nolan and Cillan Murphy do here is give gravitas around how his impact on the world was not what he had started out intending but would change it more than he’d come to realize.

His actions getting the ire of Lewis Strauss, member of the atomic energy commission who uses his influence and Oppenheimers ties to communist ideals to discredit him in the early 50s.

As mentioned Murphy owns this but equal to this is Robert Downey Jr as Strauss along with Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer.

Along with a surprising number of support players you couldn’t fathom playing these parts.

One in particular is the trigger man in the famed trinity test.

More stunning is the practical effects and sound used especially in the way Nolan continues to build the tension until the flash in Los Almos brightens the night sky. Along with his immortal words followed up with the boom.

When unexpectedly paired with a film concerning another one’s influence who would also change things going forward, this certainly made its impact.

Portmanteaus really do make magic happen.

Oppenheimer Review

Christopher Nolan has had an amazing career. Anyone who has been watching his films over the years can attest to his greatness in both storytelling and technical achievements. Oppenheimer may end up being the crown jewel of his career. The one film in 50 years which will still be talked about from the filmography of Nolan.

Oppenheimer is a stunning achievement. The intertwining of black and white and color to indicate perspective helped you stay focused on the complex narrative unfolding. There are so many people, places, encounters that occurred over these years that it would be hard to keep track of it all. The use of perspective lets you know whether it was directly viewed through Oppenheimer or whether it was the feeling of someone else associated with him.

It is hard to deny that the cast has starpower. Cillian Murphy delivered what can easily be described as a career defining performance. There is absolutely no way he does not score at least an Oscar nomination for this role. Stated here, it would personally be a travesty if he did not win. This is a dynamic and transformative acting display, and it tells one of the most important stories in the history of America.

Regardless of the stance people take on war and the use of these kinds of weapons, this happened. It is important that people know it and are educated on it and truly understand how much changed with the atomic bomb. This film tells that story, how each encounter, whether they appear big or small, can have an impact. We see that through the various cast members, including Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, Oppenheimer's communist lover. It is a smaller role but Pugh steals every scene she is in and shows just how much every moment of our lives and decision making impacts our life.

Oppenheimer's story is a culmination of exploration and scientific boundaries being pushed. Nolan perfectly captures the frantic nature of life through quick dialogue and government deception. The best scenes in this movie are the smaller ones. Of course, the bomb detonation scene is stellar from a visual perspective, but the scenes that work best are the ones filled with heavy dialogue. Most notably, the scenes with Einstein, Strauss, and all the others who Oppenheimer went for guidance and forgiveness. The best scene is saved for last. It would be a disservice to spoil the nature of it, but it truly contextualizes the entirety of how society works. It required no visual feats, just two brilliant actors recreating a moment in time that changed everything. This is cinema at its peak. Triumphant achievement.

Foreword:

I've been thinking about it for a while now so hell I know I'm freaking delulu ok but here is the thing: I like thinking about miraxus children who can do horrible things just because they have a holy amount of magic and can't control it properly yet. They're just children (I like thinking about miraxus having three kids, first girl, second son, and third girl) and it's kinda normal for them, but the third one...

The youngest daughter, fuckin' smoothie of her parents, multiplied by each other, is a DISASTER with a big no-no for magic. No magic 'till your eighteen birthday, young lady.

And there are little elements:

Since the middle and oldest are powerful (sister with thunder dragon slayer magic from her father, and brother with satan soul from his mother), the third one has everything IN ONE. UPGRADED. The mix of satan/transformation magic (pretty powerful on its own) and lightning magic gave her almost unlimited stamina and all abilities to change her magic by, for example, transforming it into speed, and being herself like lightning.

But that's not what I wanna say.

What I do want to say is that what if one day, examining her own powers, little brat will go too far and fuckING BREAK THE SPACE AND TIME CONTINUUM, so there we have a situation my brain is thinking about a whole month for now:

Mirajane and Laxus are on their fully deserved vacation, taking a break from their children, leaving them in the care of Uncle Bickslow and Aunty Lisanna.

With older siblings everything is fine, they almost are grown-ups, so they can take care of themselves and just chill or even take a few missions to deal with, it's normal for them, they're pretty skillful.

So the only thing Lisanna and Bickslow need to be worried about THE THIRD LITTLE PIECE OF SH- the third ten years old babygirl, with the angelic face of her mother, and the fucked up attitude of her father, brat it is.

Older ones do usually go on missions together, so the youngest is just with her uncle and aunt, but, if Lisanna is Responsible and Careful, Bickslow... poor man is doing his best, especially with the fem version of Laxus, who just doesn't really care about pretending to be a nice girl since mommy and daddy are no longer around and can't scold her (mommy) or make fun of her (daddy) for being rude.

And thinks now she can do whatever she wants.

Matter of fact, she is doing whatever she wants.

And she really, badly wants to know how fast she can run from her auntie and uncle, using her lightning magic to speed her up.

Turns out, she can be really fast.

They can't even come close to her speed.

Not to mention chasing and catching her.

So fast that suddenly the guild changes in front of her eyes, the familiar faces of guild mates, uncles, and aunties become younger, and someone even turns into a child.

Master Makarov didn't change tho.

And now Auntie Aska is a child, as well as Uncle Romeo is, Uncle Natsu and Auntie Lucy younger and without their wedding rings, Auntie Erza too, and her momma is...HERE?!

She did not quite understand what had happened, but seeing the shocked faces of the people in the guild, silently staring at her as if she were an alien when she was pretty sure she was human...Told her that she accidentally did something she didn't mean to.

Something for what not just daddy, but mommy too will definitely officially ban magic on her.

'The fuck just happened?..' she heard that familiar voice and faced her own father, looking much, much younger than she ever saw him, and then her mother's voice answered quietly in that still shocked silence: 'I... don't think, I know... Who are you, baby?'

So.

Now her auntie Lisanna and uncle Bickslow need to bring her home from another timeline, cus she accidentally broke the laws of physics and Moved Into the Past Thirty Years Ago.

Without dragging her older siblings into that.

Otherwise, their parents would be really...really mad.

You don't want to see Mirajane Strauss and Laxus Dreyar mad.

You don't want to see Mirajane Strauss and Laxus Dreyar mad cuz you didn't keep an eye on their children.

Ouuff...
