If you read The Art of War, there are so many elements regarding deception and preparation that very neatly tie in (along with some of Machiavelli's warnings) with the actions Jason ended up taking when he returned to Gotham.
But I've always wondered if Jason was amused when he found the line: "Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look upon them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death."

Tiny little binding I finished tonight - The Art Of War by Sun Tzu, in a format so small I'm not sure there's a name for it! For very small warfare advice. This typeset provided by a lovely person on the Renegade Bindery server. I'm constantly striving to make smaller and smaller books. Soon I'll be binding on the atomic level.

Was hanging out stoned on an art call with @festering-queen when I raised the question of "If you could have any book right now, what would it be?" Take this as a warning that no idle book comment goes un-noted...
When she eventually tossed out 'The Art of War' I was filled with exceptional glee for I knew it to be a slim volume and in the public domain. Bound three little versions of it (two for her, one for me) and this here is the best one of the lot, shipped off to her months ago. Printed on 'bible paper', it's noticeably thinner than the 20lb versions and suffers the skew and minor munges all my bible paper prints have... but worth it for those feathery light pages!
Came out to 188 pages, taking two sheets of paper. Legible, IMO, with a fun fore-edge effect of chapter markers. Dug into some of my best mini marbled strips and included the chain this time. While I lack the breathtaking design skills some folks over at @renegadepublishing have, it's one of my better layouts and would be happy to share PDF with anyone who might be interested.

JACKPOT ANON
TIS THE FAV/LEAST FAV SONS DUO
OH BOY I HAVE THOUGHTS
okay okay. it's gonna be a three-parter, in three different times. part 1 is when Apollo was a young god, The Youngest on the Council actually, and is basically following Ares around because- history lesson time!- sons in greece were raised by their father while the daughters were mainly raised by their mother. Meaning, Apollo spent a heck of a lotta time around Zeus, BUT Zeus is also king of the gods so who does he dump Apollo on when he's too busy (all the time)?
Ares. The eldest son.
Cue the sword-fighting lesson and some cryptic advice from Ares. >:)
Part 2 is Apollo POV of Ares during the time he was captured by the twins giants. He wants to help him out (because that's Apollo for you) but a conversation with Zeus deters him- something along the lines of "Ares needs to learn a lesson about where his bloodlust gets him" and Apollo uncomfortably and reluctantly agrees.
Then Ares is rescued and Apollo's the one who heals him, and really the only one allowed around Ares at that point because Ares is humiliated by the events.
Part 3 is inspired by this fic (i do not know the tumblr :( ) and is the tea invitation mentioned within between Ares, Athena, and Apollo...though Athena conveniently fails to show up ;D
Cue the awkward conversation where Ares is trying to prod Apollo on his feelings of Revolution, cursing Athena for putting him in this situation, while Apollo's willfully blinding himself TO the possibility of Revolution <3

My little brother and I were talking the other day and. I just remembered this old 2K3 TMNT Xbox game, it had all these little bios you could unlock.
And in one of them, it said that Leonardo's favorite book is Sun Tzu's Art of War, which is well described in this post
And I just
I can't
I can't decide which interpretation is funnier, that he identifies with the feeling of trying to explain common sense to his absolute hooligan brothers, or that in his own teenage brain this book is this beautiful treasure trove of wisdom and insight and Master Splinter didn't have the heart to tell him it's "War For Dummies" :'''D

Dear readers,
I recently started reading books again to complete my Goodreads quota. And i will be posting reviews of the books, express my opinions on it and also share with you if it is worth spending your money on it.
📚✨📚✨📚✨📚
I would also love some book recommendations. My top favourite books are:
- the cruel prince trilogy
- art of war
- no longer human
- the Spanish love deception
- sherlock holmes (the hound of the Baskervilles)
Currently I am reading dead poets society and very soon will share my thoughts on this book.
xoxo,
Josie

My translation:
Therefore victory has five conditions:
A good understanding of when to engage and when not to engage;
A good understanding of what to do with the limited amount of resources available to you;
Unity of everyone involved in commitment to achieving the same goals;
Better preparations than the opposing side;
An able general who is allowed to have some degree of freedom when making decisions.
These are the five conditions that will lead the way to victory.
Therefore when you know yourself and your opponent, you will fight a hundred battles and not lose a single one; when you know yourself and not your opponent, you will only win half of your battles; if you do not know yourself or your opponent, you will lose every single time.
-- The Art of War, Planning Offensives chapter
(It's worth noting that Sun Tsu does not regard victory through fighting as a true "complete victory". A "complete victory" is when one wins WITHOUT fighting.)
