if you're terrified for your country's elections next year because a lot of people seem to think the solution to the government handling an international conflict in an abysmal and deplorable way is to let a group of total monsters who would handle it MUCH worse AND also potentially doom huge swaths of oppressed people at home as well as our entire literal planet get into power, by ignoring the way our deeply flawed but also deeply entrenched system realistically works
clap your hands...?
(I cannot understand trying to stop heinous and unnecessary killing- which disgusts and saddens me, too! how could it not?! -by handing the election to people who want to do even more of that exact thing. the math isn't mathing, as they say)

I know most of this has been said far better by others but holy shit do I need to rant! I find it really sad yet funny how people will still try so hard to claim they aren't antisemitic and then be like"Israel shouldn't exist" that's one of the most bullshit things I've ever heard anyone say, then there's "I hate Zionist" when clearly you don't have the first clue about Zionism, it is simply put: Jewish people wanting a safe place to live, they've always been outcast everywhere so why is it so bad that they'd have their place? they've always been there and always will be in Israel. if you are anti-Zionist you are anti Jew. I've seen people try to claim that Israel started Hamas...?? like? what??no... sis you good?. most people, even now still don't know which river and which sea and it's embarrassing! I know I often come at this topic from a queer lens as I'm gay and trans and not Jewish personally, but honestly I'm scared both for Jewish people, and my fellow queers, Jewish folk I know personally have said to me they don't feel safe I don't feel safe around a lot of people anymore aswell for my queerness, because they claim to be allies... but how can you be my ally when you support Palestine? they fucking hate LGBT+ folk there, we are not welcome there, we would be killed there so to say "I'm an ally" feels so fake to me. to be part of the LGBT and still support that living hell of a place and act as though Israel started this and Palestine only wants peace and freedom? are you mad??! are you insane?? I only feel bad for people who want to be free from Hamas rule. and for the poor children who are raised into thinking Suicide bombing is a good thing and they should do it. not those who willingly support throwing my people off buildings and burn our flags. I will never fucking support Palestine as it is now EVER. if more people started saying free Palestine/Gaza from Hamas that would be a great fucking start. I am so fucking pissed off with some people my fucking lord. and another fucking thing! stop acting like Israel started October 7th! Israelis were murdered over nothing, I watched videos of Hamas shooting and killing people and even dogs. They are monsters they are rapists! you are supporting baby killers! you are supporting the real genocide! NEVER FORGET THE TRUTH OF OCTOBER 7th, because Hamas want to kill us all, Jewish, gay, trans, Queer, non Muslim! they are terrorists, they want to do October 7th over and over and over and over until there are no Jews left! FUCK HAMAS

Okay I have a proposed solution for the Israel situation.
I call it the One State Solution.
That State? Florida.
Relocate ALL Israeli citizens to Florida. Kick the non-Jewish Floridians out of Florida, or put them on a Floridian reservation in the Everglades. Florida is now the sovereign Jewish Homeland.
Please explain to me how this is any worse than what Israel is doing right now. Is kicking Floridians out of their home and putting them in an uninhabitable reservation bad??? Are you saying it's bad to steal people's land and relocate them to an uninhabitable surveillance state???

#so first of all i'm not jewish.#but i feel like i occupy a relatively weird position with respect to judaism.#because the neighbourhood in which i grew up was like...30-50% jewish?#it was jewish enough that the local families requested and got a hebrew immersion programme at the local elementary school#that operated in parallel to the english programme that i attended#and about half of my friends growing up were jewish.#and so i absorbed a lot of the surface-level details of the religion by a sort of osmosis#like...i knew the dates and significance of the various jewish holy days#and i knew a smattering of phrases in hebrew (phonetically); most of them apparently quite rude#and we occasionally did jewish religious songs in choir (some of them admittedly lifted from the 'Prince of Egypt' soundtrack)#and once when i was in high school i was on a trivia team; and we asked a run of questions about judaism;#and i was the only one who knew them even though (i swear to god) i was the non-Jewish player on either team#(and then when i was much older i almost married a jewish enby and i would even have tried to convert for them#but our relationship fell apart for unrelated reasons)#but one of the things that was drilled into me when i was growing up (by my dad who grew up under similar circumstances)#was that you don't criticise Israel; it's antisemitic to criticise Israel#(which made for a lot of fraught moments as a teenager given that i was watching the second Intifada on the news)#and the thing is even now in the face of what seems pretty unambiguously to be a genocide against the Palestinians#i find that i'm more circumspect about criticizing israel than i would be just about any other country under the same circumstances#like i was writing things like 'fuck saudi arabia' when they were murdering houthis in yemen#but 'fuck israel'?#even though a little harsh language is least of what that regime deserves#ugh#i feel like i'm privy to the death of a dream that was never even mine.#personal#religion

Love going onto tumblr.com and seeing a bunch of millennials who haven’t thought about Israel & Palestine since their high school world history classes suddenly posting their confident hot takes about how Hamas are actually “Palestinian revolutionaries” who definitely, super care about Palestinian freedom.
Wow, you guys are just so knowledgeable on this topic, tell me more about how Hamas, who was historically funded by the IDF to kill and get rid of the peaceful Palestinian opposition, are the good guys, actually.

You’re actually disgusting. How can you support a genocide? How can you be pro Israel when Israel shouldn’t even exist in the first place, it’s Palestine!!! it’s not a conflict, it’s a genocide!! Israel is oppressing and killing Palestinians for the past 70 years, but yet you side with them. Palestine retaliates for the first time and Israel get shook, it’s not nice being on the receiving end but they love to dish all that harm out themselves. You’re a nasty nasty human being and you have no humanity or heart. Because no normal person would stand besides colonisers like that. You’re disgusting. Shame on you
I'm really not going to fight with you. I'm just going to say that killing people is wrong, for any reason. And my friends are in imminent danger and I am scared for them.
Hamas is not a government, they do not care about their people, and they did not start this war with the intent of making life better for Palestinians. They started this war to murder jews. they went to a music festival and killed people and took hostages and raped women and beheaded children and murdered holocaust survivors. and if you think that's ok, then YOU are disgusting and deserve shame.
If you think murder is good, unfollow me right the fuck now.
There is so much nuance missing from conversations. things are not black and white. Jews and Israel HAVE colonized in part, and they HAVE reclaimed their ancestral homeland, and they HAVE accepted UN border guidelines in 1948, and they HAVE cut off resources from gaza including for civilians and they HAVE done a lot of fucked up shit.
But our government colonized, claimed land that didn't belong to them, disobeyed international orders, cut off resources, murdered people, and fucked up too. America has way less of a right to exist than Israel.
NOT that it should matter in this discussion, but I believe in a two state solution, I genuinely don't care where the lines are as long as everyone has access to their holy sites, I think Netanyahu is terrible and hurts Israel and diaspora Jews.
But no one has the right to kill other people.
Super cool how after my post about 'pls let me have this one space to escape the trauma' resulted in multiple asks about this.

i was talking to family about religious sites that have been attacked, and they jumped to the holocaust memorial in Israel. Those memorials are really important, but there's a deep irony of any settler states having those. There's none (that I know of) for the Nahkba, few for the genocide of indigenous peoples of America. For the later the ones I know of are not near main populated areas. We live in states of violence that use art to make people feel good about themselves for having grief, and to ignore the current day violence that keeps the institutions going

The first chapter of Isaiah hitting really hard with everything happening in Gaza
”“The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts?“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong.“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”See how the faithful city has become a prostitute! She once was full of justice; righteousness used to dwell in her— but now murderers!“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”Your silver has become dross, your choice wine is diluted with water. Your rulers are rebels, partners with thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts. They do not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow’s case does not come before them.“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”“You will be ashamed because of the sacred oaks in which you have delighted; you will be disgraced because of the gardens that you have chosen.“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬
”The mighty man will become tinder and his work a spark; both will burn together, with no one to quench the fire.”“
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

#EDIT: moved organizational tags up so they actually work#rosie rambles#in the tags#hellscape in palestine#thinking about the whole. yknow. war crime situation in palestine#and it might just be my brain connecting unconnected dots#but wasn't there something going around a while back about how to pronounce gaza and palestine#(bc europeans/americans/whoever are claiming palestinians can't even pronounce 'palestine' correctly#except they're calling the localized 'palestine' the 'correct' pronunciation which is. so incredibly wrong)#bc it's been rattling around in my head for a while now. it's more of a falasteen than a pal-ah-stein. falasteen. philistine.#PHILISTINE. AS IN. THE FUCKING. PEOPLE WHO LIVED THERE ALREADY BY THE TIME MOSES AND THE ISRAELITES SHOWED UP.#THERE WAS AN ENTIRE SUNDAY-SCHOOL-FAVORITE STORY IN THERE ABOUT IT#VEGGIETALES MADE AN ADAPTATION OF ONE OF THE FIGHTS#look. i am very much way too goy and way too sleepy to consider myself an authority on any of this.#but palestinians were (seemingly) there first.#then israel (the original nation not the reconstruction we have nowadays) dropped in and was there for a good long while.#then other nations conquered and un-conquered and conquered some more for a while#then modern israel came into being. and like. ok. i'm Christian. this is a known fact abt me. but i'm pretty sure our holy book told us we#won't know the day or the hour of the end of days. and yet there's this push to send Good Jewish People back to israel that's spesrheaded#by…alleged Christians. who believe that jewish people need to return to israel to signal the end of days.#which. again. won't be predictable.#idk where i'm going with this#i just. i think i'm just getting way too jaded from hearing people irl cheerfully support genocide and being unable to convince them#that it's Fucking Genocide. or in one specific case#that it's Fucking Genocide. And That Is BAD#i think i just needed to straighten out my thoughts a bit before i go to sleep#just. if we were going to just look at the ancient past. both nations have existed in that plot of land. and peace would be nice.#however.#it is Very Clear that one side's definition of 'peace' is 'peace and quiet. because the Others are all dead :)' which is. Not Great!#augh.
