It’s one in the morning let’s talk Six of Crows analysis - it feels like it’s been ages since I did any analysis, which is like the entire point of this account so sorry about that but here we go: We should talk more about Adem Bajan you guys okay because first of all he effectively comes to represent the vast majority of everyday people in a clear juxtaposition to both Inej and Van Eck, but he also is in a position of far less choice than I think we give him credit for.
As a reminder, Bajan is a young Suli boy (presumably somewhere around 19 but we have no confirmation of that) working in the Van Eck household teaching Alys music. He is highly implied to be having or to have interest in having as affair with Alys, and was Van Eck’s chosen jailer for Inej at the beginning of Crooked Kingdom. Van Eck claims he made this choice because he thought “a Suli boy would be most conspicuous” when he was attempting to lure Kaz into a trap to save Inej, but it was also an inarguably smart decision in that, as Inej even comments herself, Bajan was easy to talk to, made her feel nostalgic, homesick, and alone, and very nearly succeeded in drawing information out of her without having to restore to torture. If anything, resorting to torture was Van Eck’s major mistake at this point but that’s really a conversation for another time. Bajan is a really interesting character because he doesn’t want to hurt Inej and specifically encourages her to tell him things so Van Eck won’t escalate things further, but when Van Eck does escalate things Bajan is unable - or possibly unwilling - to stop him. For this Inej calls him a monster, and when he claims he did nothing replies “no, you’re the man who stands idly by congratulating himself whilst the monster eats its fill”. She draws a Suli phrase on him that effectively means he’ll be rejected by the community forever and his spirit/soul won’t be accepted, and she describes it as the worst fate or something along those lines sorry I can’t remember exactly. But what’s the most interesting thing is that even though he claims not to believe in any of it Bajan gets noticeably upset by this and says “that’s not fair”. Inej is surprised that he’s this soft, and there’s a very clear juxtaposition between the lives they have lived.
BUT - let’s look at this from Bajan’s perspective. And remember - this is important - Bajan is not described as an employee of Van Eck’s, but an indenture. An indenture. So Bajan is a young boy indentured in a foreign country to a man as high up in the country’s government as you can get and who has clearly been illustrated to the reader as a terrible person on several different levels that I won’t dissect in too much detail right now. He appears to have acclimatised himself to Kerch surroundings and acts with elevation above his status, because that’s what he has to do to survive in the upper echelon of a deeply classist society that actively diminishes and disapproves of his culture. (<<if anyone wants references for that let me know and also I’ve written about it quite a bit before so that’s kicking around on my page somewhere) He refuses to speak to Inej in Suli because “it makes me maudlin” and my question to you is: is he rejecting the language to further attempt to fit in and as a product of internalised prejudice, or because it’s so incredibly painful to be half-connected to a culture not only that he has forced himself to reject but also that he feels he can never safely return to? Probably both. He tells Inej he doesn’t believe in Suli superstition, religion, or culture, and yet is deeply upset when she uses it against him. Is this because he actually does believe, or wants to believe, in the Saints and the Suli interpretation of them but has rejected them for survival and the supposed betterment of himself? Possibly.
Bajan strikes me as very similar to Jesper in the way he presents himself as free, flirty, and casual, but had a considerable weight to almost everything he says and considerable pain hidden closer to the surface than he may have realised. I think there are parallels between him and Inej if we want to see them, but also a very stark difference in the way Kerch and Ketterdam have treated them. Bajan may not be privileged but even as an indenture he has - or at least as far as we know has had - a far safer and kinder experience than Inej has. This could be related to gender since the hyper-sexualisation of Suli culture is mostly centred on women - “the Menagerie always stocked a Suli girl” (I’ve intensely analysis this quote before so I won’t now but ugh there’s so much to say) - but we do know there are young boys captive at the pleasure houses as well although less commonly and it’s also possible that this difference is linked to Bajan’s decision to turn his back on Suli culture in order to appeal more to Kerch society whilst Inej continually embraced her culture and arguably became more religious in response to her experiences.
This is complicated because I’m not entirely sure how I feel about Bajan. I understand and support Inej’s perspective and everything she saw whilst in a far more dangerous position that he was, but is it possible that this was a lonely boy who saw someone he thought was like him and tried to communicate with her the only way he thought was safe? You are completely isolated in a foreign culture and hate yourself for having suppressed your own upbringing in order to survive, but now you meet someone else who yes, is in more danger than you, but who you might be able to help so that she can help you in return. You aren’t safe to speak freely and so you subtly tell her that you are an indenture, hoping she acknowledges that none of this is of your free will and because you know that she was indentured too (and remember from a societal pov there is very little understanding of what indentured girls at the pleasure houses actually go through and although that doesn’t excuse ignoring Inej’s trauma it may explain why he doesn’t fully acknowledge that their positions aren’t equal), you tell her that speaking your own shared language makes you feel maudlin, hoping she realises that you desperately miss your homeland and using your language makes you feel even further from your family than you already are because you can’t share it with them. She doesn’t seem to be taking any of it in, your employer has every intention of hurting her and you don’t know what else to do, so you make a last plea: you ask her about home. You think you’ve already made it clear that speaking about home is painful, so you ask her about it to invite that pain, to share it, so you both understand. But it fails, because she only sees your employer puppeteering you. You openly beg her to tell him the truth so that he won’t hurt her but she refuses to comply, and after all of your efforts and your desperate attempts to connect and beg her to help you both go home, her response is to turn your home against you and banish you from it for eternity. So when you see her the next morning, how could you possibly look her in the eye?
Bajan did not make all of the right choices in his brief time on the page. He didn’t. But maybe he was trying really hard, and he had no other options left.
Anyway I’m not saying this is definitive one way or the other it’s just an interpretation but I find him a very interesting and very sad character and I although I support all of Inej’s actions in these scenes from her point of view I do find myself wondering how she appeared to Bajan and how he felt in the aftermath.

This is based on @sketchyspook's Mask - the hero of terminal! he's a lil gremlin who in this decided to pull a sky and break out of his game. He just wants a sibling though so can you blame him?
Tumblr media
“Hey we were thinking about going out tonight [name], you want to join us?”
“Nah, I’ll be honest I was planning to stay in tonight. Just want a rest you know, got some old games I’ve been planning to replay.” “Fair, if I hadn’t promised someone I’d join them I’d probably be doing the same. See you around sometime [name].”
After how hectic everything has been recently it’ll be nice to have a night in where I can just zone out and do next to nothing; really what better way is there to do that than by playing through Majora’s mask for the, what 50th time? It’s such a nostalgic game to me that it can’t be anything other than my go-to relaxing game. Besides that though, really it’s just fun to fish using the fierce deity mask. Something about an ancient war god going fishing like that? It’s a fun break from the rest of the game.
Something feels different this time though. I can’t quite pinpoint what but even the opening cutscene feels different. There’s more static than there should be, it just feels wrong. There’s also this feeling, I’m probably just being paranoid, but I swear someone’s watching me. Judging me even. Like they’re trying to evaluate me for something, I just can’t tell what. It’s nothing I’m sure. Just need to shake it off and carry on playing.
Saving it after getting the deity mask feels like a good point to leave it off for the evening, how long have I even been playing? I could’ve sworn it wasn’t that long but - It’s past 2?? It’s never taken me this long to get to this point before, maybe it’s been glitching way more than I thought. I mean it felt like every few minutes I lost control over Link, oddly enough it was only when his model was facing the screen. My controller must just be acting up, I knew buying the cheapest one on eBay would’ve been a bad idea, of course, it’s gonna have some issues. Just turn off the game and go to bed, it’s that easy [name]. Your bed’s comfortable anyway, you’ll fall asleep in no time.
What’s that sound? It’s barely enough to wake me up, am I hearing things? What’s gotten into you tonight [name], first being paranoid while playing, now hearing things? Am I coming down with something? Just try to go back to sleep and deal with this in the morning.
Okay, I can’t just be feeling things now, did something fall on me during the night?
No, it feels far too much like a person, but then who is lying on me? And how did they get here? Opening my eyes to a blonde kid who looks suspiciously like Link doesn’t feel quite real, maybe I’m still asleep and something fell on me and affected my dream? Oh, what am I kidding myself? I’m awake. I’ll just try to gently wake him up to get some answers, if he doesn’t wake up then at least I can move him so I can get a look at just how he got here.
“Bewegen Sie mich nicht, ich fühle mich hier wohl.”
So he didn’t like that then, my german is rusty but even then it’s clear enough what he meant by how he’s trying to get closer to me in his half-asleep state. He’s going to be staying right where he is for as long as he can get away with it. All I can hope for in the meantime is to try and find out he got in here without moving. There isn’t any broken glass or windows so he didn’t get in that way, it would be insane for a kid to break in just for hugs as well so that rules out that possibility.
There is broken glass though… by my laptop… what?Of all the - my laptop is shattered. How did that - did he? My laptop is broken and there is a game character in my arms, that has to be related, doesn't it?
There are tiny cuts and fresh burns on his arms, ones that look like they could be - did he?
That would explain how my laptop broke. There are more questions from that though. Such as how did a video game character get out of my laptop and into my arms?? And why? Answers aren’t going to show themselves and theres only one person who knows why he did this.
“Kid? I know you don’t want to move, but can you tell me what’s going on? How you got here at least?” That seems to have woken him up a little, enough for him to look at me now even though he looks very bitter he’s had to move. Now that I’m getting a better look at his face though, he’s certainly link but he looks a little different to how he does in the game. White streaks in the front of his hair, paler eyes and far too many scars for someone his age. It’s like he’s picked up traits of the fierce deity mask, you know what if he’s here in my room real like this why couldn’t he look different from in game?
“Ich kann, ich tue es nicht - I don’t want to be in the game any more, so I got out.”
“Can I ask how you got out?”
Alright no answer for that besides a quick look at his hair, must be a sore point for him. I won’t press him on that until he feels more alright to talk about it.
“Is there any reason you wanted to well, be like this link?”
With a gesture to how he’s decided to lay on me, he has at least a little bit of shame as he looks away from me before mumbling something just loud enough that I could hear.
“After you playing through it for so long, you uh, you feel like an older sibling to me. So I’ll stay here with you [name]?”
It’s either he can stay with me or he’ll go out to the street, not that I have the heart to throw him out, after everything I know he’s been through. That I’m partly responsible for putting him through? If I didn’t play his game, he - he wouldn’t have had to go through that would he. It’s my fault.
“[name]? You aren’t upset at me are you? I didn’t - I didn’t mean to make you cry, I can - Nun, ich denke, ich kann - if you don’t want me here I can go back.”
“No I don’t - of course I don’t think that. I’m sorry link, I made you keep reliving all of that. I never even knew that you were - oh god I’m so sorry link.”
He paused at that to think things over for a second, most likely about to say something although I can’t tell what from his body language. Is he crying now? Shaking slightly while leaning towards me like he wants a hug, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was crying after everythin-
“AUGH! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?”
“You wouldn’t stop crying because you were blaming yourself for ‘hurting’ me. Now we’re even so you can stop crying about it.”
As much as I hate it he is right, somewhat, one single bite doesn’t exactly make up for everything that I put him through but I’m not going to say that aloud incase he bites me again. Inspecting my arm there is a neat mark from his teeth, kid’s got a strong jaw I’ll give him that.
“Alright [name] I’ve seen a few things of your world when you were playing, but um would you mind showing me what it’s like? You’re my big sibling now so I think that’s just what you have to do.”
“Oh about that, why do you see me as a sibling?”
A shrug with yet another glance at his hair like it holds the answer.
“I’m not the only one who sees you as my sibling, I know the deity has kinda unofficially adopted you as well.”
“Huh? The deity? Like the mask, the thing you use in game? Has adopted me?”
“Mhm, he’s the one who encouraged me to get out, it’s a little complicated but basically I wore the mask a bit too much.”
Just another thing I’ve done wrong then, or maybe not seeing as he seems to be fine with what is happening and the fact that it’s gotten him out of the game.
“You gonna explain what you mean by that?”
“Nah not yet, gotta come to terms with it myself as well before any of that.”

the dwampyverse and all its timelines
welcome to the analysis i've been promising for like two years! this will be phineas and ferb centric simply due to the sheer amount of episodes compared to milo murphy's law and hamster and gretel. with the inclusion of hamster and gretel, i will admit this has gotten a little less easy to navigate, but i'm hoping with a bit of analysis and suspension of belief, it'll be okay. ready? lets go!
the best way i can describe this first part is by providing a visual of how i see it. and using a three-circle venn diagram makes perfect sense with all of the overlapping and individual parts.
Tumblr media
so - pictured above is said venn diagram. each part is its own timeline. ones where each show is their own timeline, ones where pnf/mml overlap, mml/hng overlap, pnf/hng overlaps and the one right in the centre where they all overlap. this doesnt include timelines where "endings" are separate (read: quantum boogaloo, act your age, doof 101, owca files... any ending that isnt last day of summer. but i'll get to those ones later). make sense?
1. where only phineas and ferb exists.
this works best before 2015. this timeline is the one that has zero murphy crumbs on it. dan and swampy haven’t yet had the idea of doing a show about a kid with awful luck and time travelling shenanigans. this is the most nostalgic timeline, for phineas has reigned over the disney channel cartoons for eight years. the lumberzacks dont exist, hamster and gretel dont save danville each week. pnf is its own show. no other shows have an influence on it.
adding to this - if you ignore any of the alternate timeline episodes and stop at last day of summer, you get my personal favourite way of watching the show. this one is basically just ignoring owca files, doof 101, all of mml and most importantly - act your age. I love the idea of an open book ending for these characters, especially for ones we saw on our tvs for over eight years [when it aired]. the events that take place after last day of summer are simply giving an idea of what COULD happen to our beloved cast, and without them, they really make no impact on the original story. the events before the end of summer are in no way impacted by the other alternate ending episodes.
2. where both phineas and ferb and milo murphy’s law exists
this is the canon, everything-exists-all-at-the-same-time timeline, pre-hamster and gretel. every piece of context works together, and everything is all connected. everything is canon! everyone is friends with each other! the pnf effect works! doof moves in with the murphy's, and this timeline is basically if you watched pnf and mml chronologically, without any of the alt ending episodes (in case you forgot which ones: quantum boogaloo, act your age, doof 101 and the owca files). this is the one i think we're all familiar with - it also includes candace against the universe (mostly uh... broadly speaking, the lumberzacks are the only mml thing in there).
3. where only milo murphy’s law exists
a timeline where pnf and hng are nonexistent. this timeline would probably exclude anything past season one, really. the crossover would not work. maybe even in this timeline the pistachions take over everything and the human characters cease to exist. (eleanor shellstrop this is the bad place!.jpeg) this further pushes the point (that I haven’t made - I’ve been thinking it I just haven’t said it lmao) that you can’t have milo murphys law without phineas and ferb. the crossover plot proves it. both in the real world AND in mml.
4. where just hamster and gretel exists
this one is a little hard to explain, especially since hng has only just finished its first season. there are a few pnf references in this show but it stands on its own feet much more than mml did. i think the likelihood of hng existing in its own timeline works a lot better than mml - but the chance of there being a surprise crossover is moderately high. like i said, it's a little hard to analyse this since its that much more removed from its predecessors.
5. where milo murphy’s law and hamster and gretel exist
this is a very unlikely scenario, but there is a chance a timeline like this exists somewhere. it’s a bit difficult to analyse or even prove since there haven’t been any kind of references or even characters that pop up in hng from mml. I wouldn’t expect the opposite either, considering that mml ended in 2019 and hng didn’t exist until after that, so hng within mml is basically impossible without a third season.
these last two timelines make a lot less sense, especially since hng still has stories to tell and we havent seen mml characters there yet (well... unless you count doof. hes technically a mml character, right? as much as some of us dislike that fact? haha. ahahaha.)
6. where phineas and ferb and hamster and gretel exists
this one works. i think it’s basically how dtva thinks it works (basically completely ignoring mml’s entire existence lmao) but this is basically the canon timeline of hng currently. but we’ll wait and see if there’s a crossover.
7. where all of phineas and ferb, milo murphy’s law and hamster and gretel exist all at once
like I say, a surprise crossover could happen (but based off what happened with the pnf effect I can’t even imagine how messy this would get) so yes, they could exist all at once. and they probably do, just that hng is a lot further removed from its predecessors in terms of references and characters popping up out of nowhere (doof and his inators don’t seem to have much importance yet, but who knows how it’ll end). this timeline, basically, is for those who don’t really mind that everything’s in a collective universe, and it seems like the easiest one to comprehend if you aren’t pedantic about all of this.
but what about the episodes where timelines end?
you’re probably here thinking okay, so what? there’s different timelines. this isn’t news. what about the other individual episodes that are within the umbrella timeline? I like to think of them as individual timelines within the show, along with all the other ones mentioned above.
quantum boogaloo
timelines have been a thing pretty much since season 2 of phineas and ferb, notably in the episode quantum boogaloo where they go forward in time and see a potential future where stacy is the president of uruguay. this is an example of something ‘canonically’ happening after last day of summer, 20 years in the future. this episode has a couple of potential timelines - the one where everything is fine, and the one where doof is emperor and everyone is named joe. the first timeline has candace ending up with jeremy and having three kids, along with ferb at camp david and phineas at an awards ceremony in switzerland. however, this particular timeline doesnt match up equally with act your age, since their ages dont line up. in quantum boogaloo, pnf are aged 30 twenty years later, in aya, pnf are aged 18 ten years later. this means they could either be 8 or 10 in the original summer, depending on the timeline. the second one is pretty much null to me since they time travel back and both of the future timelines cancel out.
doof 101
so. this is an episode i havent seen for a while. however, this is one of the perfect examples since the theme for doof 101 says "and this all takes place in fall so don't let the timeline throw you" like hiiii thank you for acknowledging that this is a separate timeline! there's a short bit in the title that shows doof facing either prison time or teaching at the high school in court, and its something we don't see the events leading up to. sure, he's done crimes against humanity but there weren't ever any consequences during the show. who turned him in? why is he on trial? what happened between him being evil and becoming a high school science teacher? and why does this monobrow edward rooney ass guy have beef with him and charlene out of nowhere? timelines, dude. got me stressed out and its not even my show.
act your age
[through gritted teeth] this episode also shows another potential canonical ending for the cast. phineas ends up with isabella 10 years after last day of summer, showing that this particular timeline has the kids aged around 8 or 9 in the original summer. we all know my thoughts on this particular ending, notably posted here. this timeline is easy to ignore if you dislike it, like the majority of us.
what does line up with the original summer, however, is doof's b-plot in act your age. I'm not a huge hater of his arc in this episode, and honestly, it might be his most in-character timeline ending out of all of them. yes, you heard me, theres something i dont dislike about act your age. like i said in the post linked above, i dont find it hard to believe he would bowl with perry and carl and monogram every week. he would totally have a mid-life crisis that wasn't real, like this guy canonically can't even hate christmas. this is so in character for him! in terms of it being a different timeline though, the only proof i have is that it's one of many different timeline ending episodes.
last day of summer
this episode is kinda like a flagship for the timelines, and as mentioned above, my favourite ending. i don’t think I need to reiterate it, but it really just provides an open ending for the entire cast, and makes room for anything else to happen. I’m curious to see how it pans out in the reboot; if they keep the continuity and acknowledge that ldos happened, or if they just kinda skip over it if it’s true that the new seasons will happen in the summer after the original one. but don’t worry - if the reboot adds any kind of canon divergence (I’m literally counting on it) You Will Certainly Hear From Me About It. lol
the owca files
I'll admit i haven't watched owca files for a number of years but i still remember bits of it. its a very strange timeline to me. i understand that doof is legally an ocelot and can be an agent but it does feel like the beginning of that out-of-characterness he displays in mml. and i guess the owca files is canon there, right? the bit with monogram during the pnf effect?
this also includes the pine tree. it feels like a way of letting us know owca files is in a different timeline. the flynn-fletcher house gets blown up, they get new plates, and we have symbolism of the end of an era with a pine tree in their backyard.
milo murphy's law
this one in particular is mostly just the pnf/mml overlap but ensures that doof ends up as professor time. if you've seen mml i don't think i need to explain it - after last day of summer (and owca files if ur nasty) the events of mml occur chronologically as if its one continuous timeline.
wait! what about the other canon divergent episodes?
ones that aren’t necessarily an ending but are set smack bang in the middle of the show with no explanation? don’t worry. I got you.
phineas and ferb christmas vacation
this episode features doof being evil in the middle of winter. dan povenmire has said he relapsed, but this is a perfect example of different timelines. a lot of the “ending” episodes were written and aired well before last day of summer so the chance of them knowing how the show was going to end was likely very little, if not zero. so, let’s imagine that last day of summer doesn’t happen. none of that arc happens, it’s just doof being passively evil throughout the year and then this christmas event happens. i don’t think he ever stopped being evil in this timeline. the chance of him just getting less… violent with his schemes is probably the best way of thinking about it. hell, he got perry a present. yes, it was a vase, but would the s1 heinz have done that? probably not. he’s definitely less evil as the show progresses, and even an episode like this one that aired in season 2 shows how quickly they turned it around.
on the other hand - the boys make their santa clubhouse invention and candace stresses what to get jeremy as a gift. does she try and bust them? surprisingly, no. her main focus is jeremy, and when it all goes south she’s in on what the boys are doing when santas elves show up. she mentions “what’s different this year than last year?”, insinuating that the boys weren’t inventing anything before the summer that the show is set in, and that this episode is definitely set after that summer. the B plot is definitely more solid proof of the alternate timeline, with heinz “relapsing” although I struggle to believe that with all the canon divergency that happens within the show and in mml/hng the chances of it just being a relapse are very remote.
that’s the spirit!
this one is similar in that it diverges from our last day of summer ending. doof is still evil, and candace - wait, she doesn’t even try and bust them. she’s keen to trick or treat with the gang and then go to jeremy’s party. she doesn’t even try and bust them. (man, it’s almost like it’s another timeline or something.)
back to doof though - he might have relapsed like in the christmas vacation episode, but he’s not necessarily evil here either. sure, he declared war on grass for an unknown reason and turned himself into a were-cow, but it’s not established that he wants to take over the tri state area like usual. if anything, it’s the opposite. he runs from the masses like it’s a witch hunt.
the curse of candace
this episode is all fine until the end where candace turns to dust and phineas says "we're gonna need a dustpan and some glue." there isnt much else to say about this one, but it indicates another timeline where candace is glued back together afterwards. and she’s also a vampire.
happy new year!
this is set after the summer the show is set in, considering that jeremy and coltrane are at the party as candace and stacy's respective dates. doof is still evil as his plot is to become ruler of the tri-state area. candace makes one last attempt at busting her brothers. this is definitely another timeline, and also apparently one where gangnam style exists. pretty easy to understand - doof doesnt have his giving-up-evil arc and continues to be passively evil like always. this could also work chronologically with christmas vacation, where he tries his naughty-inator and then a week later comes up with the resolution-changer-inator. candace's arc is a little different, she could have stayed consistent and tried to bust the boys from summer onwards, only getting to new years and wanting to change her ways with a new years resolution.
for your ice only
evil doof is back again in the fourteen days of winter vacation that fall between christmas and new years'. for him, this could be an evil scheme that takes place at some point in between christmas vacation and new years, or it could be its own timeline altogether. candace also attempts to bust the boys again, as per usual.
what's interesting about this one though, is the fact they refer back to football x7 when talking about hockey z9. and you're probably thinking 'obviously? whats ur point' and yes. obviously they bring up the original episode when referencing the sport with the same name format. but this also implies its in the same timeline as the football x7 game, meaning there's at least two timelines that divert off my fair goalie - one that doesn't include hockey z9 and one that does (this episode). and this one (i'm circling back) includes evil doof. bam!
escape from phineas tower
what! this is a normal episode, right? if that was your reaction upon reading that subtitle, you'd be thinking the same as me, until you remember the ending where the tower extends its forcefield around the entire milky way galaxy. but here's where things get really interesting. what film, may i ask, has a plot where the ensemble cast has to fly to another planet to rescue two other ensemble cast members? thats right, candace against universe! this means that catu is set in a timeline that doesn't include the escape from phineas tower episode, since they're able to exit the milky way galaxy and enter the vroblok cluster. this would be impossible if it were in the same timeline as this episode, since they would have stopped at the dome and wouldn't have been able to get to feebla-oot.
she’s the mayor
honourable mention to this episode since it features time travel and timeline fuckery and I never see anybody talk about it!
"Back at the golf course, Roger is astounded at how fast the game is going as Dr. Doofenshmirtz points out that the slight chance that the Accelerate-inator could destroy the very fabric of space-time and possibly the entire universe is a small price to pay to get done with the game. Perry then breaks the Accelerate-inator using a golf club, causing time to flow backwards at the exact moment when Linda and Candace are about to bust Phineas and Ferb, also undoing all of the day's events back to the announcement in City Hall and causing an alien from another universe to appear.
At City Hall, Mayor Doofenshmirtz prepares to announce the winner of the Mayor-For-A-Day Essay Contest. The alien destroys the Accelerate-inator, causing the time-line to be altered once again as the new honorary mayor is announced: the old coot and telling everyone that any gold that they find is now his, causing Candace to lament, "I was robbed."" (from the pnf wiki)
what would’ve happened if doof's machine wasn’t destroyed and set the timeline back into place? the fabric of time and space would have been destroyed, and there is a very high chance there would have been a last-day-of-summer-esque situation where everything within the void would cease to exist. right from the start of the episode, it begins with a clock chiming, so from the beginning we are made aware that time will somehow have significance, which it does. after the timeline resets, we hear the clock chime again, which lets the viewer know we're now in a different timeline. there don't seem to be any repercussions of this timeline fuckery later in the show since it doesn't get mentioned again.
night of the living pharmacists
second honourable mention goes to this ending that @momphineasandferbmadeablog reminded me of (tysm bestie) where it "ends" with stacy turning off her tv as if the entire episode was a horror film the whole time. however, even before verifying, i had a feeling it was debunked and its just the ending of the grievance film. and i was right.
"Dan Povenmire made it clear that the entire episode was canon instead of a film Stacy was watching, and that the "The End" card on Stacy's TV was merely the "The End" title card of the Grievance movie she was watching." (from the pnf wiki)
there isnt a citation for it and none of his tweets showed up while i was looking for actual proof but i definitely remember him saying it somewhere, but please, absolutely feel free to think of it as a separate timeline! without dan saying it's a canon episode, there isn't actually any proof within the episode that it isn't its own timeline.
across the second dimension/tales from the resistance: back to the second dimension
and for our third and final honourable mention, this one is basically the existence of the second dimension. I haven't added it as its own since the concept is pretty obvious - its another dimension where a different timeline occurs. i mean, idk if i need to fully explain it, if youve seen the film and the s4 episode you know what happens. it's explicitly stated to be another dimension, however the specific mention of timelines is nonexistent. semantics, yes, but i do really feel like atsd is separate from all of it.
it's certainly a timeline that could happen - doof could lose his choo-choo and eventually take over the tri-state area and the events of the film would occur, but the fact that the main characters cross over and meet each other puts it into a different category for me. but by all means, feel free to think of it as yet another timeline!
I want to specifically mention: this list of episodes is not at all an exhaustive number of timelines. the way I see it, this is just the ones that are “labelled” (for lack of a better word) as their own timelines. there can be as many or as few timelines within the dwampyverse as you like. this analysis is not a rulebook, but rather answering the conundrum with one solution out of an infinite number of possibilities.
the dwampyverse and its "current year syndrome"
i think we can all agree that phineas and ferb is a relatively timeless show, in that you could watch it at any point in the past fifteen years and it wouldn't feel particularly out of place. that being said, the technology used in the show makes it feel aged or weirdly out of time. most notably, the switch between candace having a flip phone in the first three seasons and a touch-screen phone in everything post-season four. this is clearly influenced by the smartphone boom that occurred in the 2010s when iphones became mainstream, and thus impacted everyday life, including in tv and film.
so, when the animators jumped on this trend, phineas and ferb became a lot less timeless. candace owning something like a flip phone, something that didn't even exist for a long period of time in real life, felt less like something that was trying to keep up with the times than when she suddenly appeared on screen with a smartphone. not to mention the alexa joke in candace against the universe. now that was a jumpscare.
if you did want to carbon date the summer that the show is set in, like this post did for example, and if you're like me, you might headcanon phineas and ferb's summer taking place somewhere between 2009 and 2012. the other times where they've crossed over is set whenever it makes sense. the pnf effect? i think its pretty much canon that it takes place in 2017, what with all the pop culture references like pokemon go, dabbing, and uptown funk. definitely things you can date back to that mid 2010s era.
milo murphy's law also makes sure it stays current too, like specifically mentioning the year 2016 when the lumberzacks formed, milo's bag of toothbrushes labeled 2012-2014, and king pistachion doing a selfie with everyone which is like the most 2016 thing ever. (you guys remember the oscars selfie?) there's certainly some purpose behind dating some of the events within the show, since its entire B-plot is about time travel, but it doesn't feel like its really trying to be a current show. at least, not until they have references and allusions to pop culture things like ducky mo-go.
hamster and gretel has what is unfortunately the worst display of the three - there's a lot of social media references in the show. not necessarily memes, but just a lot of display of the characters using social media. the first one that comes to mind is the destructress, where her typical Thing is her doing a livestream or some kind of story update announcement with her phone, clearly showing that this is a 2020s cartoon, and it feels the need to be very current. hell, eight year old gretel has an iphone in this show, but i won't go down the track of why that fact alone is so weird to me since it'll derail this entire analysis.
granted there are a LOT of inconsistencies throughout these three shows but the current year syndrome, although sometimes unavoidable, proves the fact there are multiple timelines - and they can be traced back to candace's flip phone.
so, what do we do with this?
I personally love cherry-picking the parts of canon that exist, purely from a selfish point of view but also because this universe allows for it. there are a lot of different endings or alternate paths these characters can go down, and as exemplified by act your age, we can either ignore them or embrace them. sure, it’s unlikely but there are some people who like the aya ending and say it’s their own canon, and others who like the ending where doof becomes professor time. or there's others, like me, who absolutely adore last day of summer as their timeline end. the openness of it in such a positive light makes it feel like it’s not even the ending for these characters.
it also begs the question - does everything go back to the status quo at the end of every phineas and ferb episode? well... it can't, really. most character arcs within the show are tied to events that happen, like monty and vanessa getting together, or buford joining the backyard gang, or even doof's slow arc to being a good, if not morally grey character.
no, it’s not a big deal that there’s a lot of different timelines in the sense you have to constantly think about it as you watch it. but it does present us with the classic conundrum: which one is actually canon? and to this, i say, pick your own ending. if you like cherry picking as much as I do, indulge yourself. skip episodes you don't like. ignore parts of canon that don't actually have that much impact on the timeline. hey, its not like the show doesn't allow for it!

Yukio Mishima has been trending this week for uh, reasons. He was a world renowned Japanese author and all of his work is overshadowed by his actions on November 25, 1970. You might not want to read more about this guy because he is horrible and disgusting, but he's utterly fascinating and the movie about him is brilliant.
He's a really interesting character, to the point that he sounds fictional. He's gay, obsessed with ritualistic death, a right wing lunatic, led a private militia that was halfway to a cult, and also was a legitimately great author. His life is covered in the film Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters and it's easily the most beautiful film I've seen in my life. Look at the stills I posted above; every frame of this movie looks like that. It's all just a series of beautiful paintings with people living in them.
The way the film is structured is that it tells the story of his life in three ways. His past is told in black and white flashbacks with static cameras. This is closer to how a movie from the 50's would look like (specifically ones directed by Yasujirō Ozu). The events of three of his books are told with this beautifully stylized look, with sets that look like stage plays. The events of November 25, 1970 is told in an almost normal fashion, with regular colors and competent camerawork. The past is nostalgic, the present is mundane and only in fantasy can you truly come alive.
Through this movie we see the ideology of Mishima coming through. His nationalism, his sexual feelings and his thoughts on beauty and death all come together. Death isn't just a violent and tragic end, it is in itself a beautiful act. Beauty is the only true goal of life and creating beauty brings honor. Growing old and ugly is an act of hate; to die at your peak is to give love back to the world. It is therefore treasonous to live long enough to die peacefully. He pities what heaven must look like now; when men died young and beautiful it was paradise, but now it is filled with old men.
This is an objectively insane way to view the world but it is also fascinating. How much of this was what he believed, and how much of it was just begging for attention? In one instance when asked why he moved to the right politically he said "because the left was full". It was a joke answer, but he clearly wanted to be in the spotlight. His shield society was a paramilitary group dedicated to living a virtuous life of beauty, honor and old ideals. It was also a group of good looking, athletic young men led by a (barely) closeted, conservative gay man. So much of his life could have gone differently but also he was pretty much in control the whole time; he was independently wealthy and revered on the world stage. He could do whatever he wanted, and apparently the way his life went *is* what he wanted.
What's special about Mishima, both in the film and in real life, is that he's a smart and eloquent guy. In films the guy with a crazy worldview is someone like Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver or D-Fens from Falling Down. Travis couldn't understand the alienation and loneliness he felt and he couldn't find any healthy solutions. D-Fens was smart enough but not emotionally strong enough to confront his problems or deal with them maturely. These are people that could benefit greatly from therapy (other examples include Joker from Joker, Rupert Pupkin from the King of Comedy, Frank Murdoch from God Bless America, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, Tyler Durden from Fight Club and so, so many more).
These are either 20 something year olds that are lost in the world, alienated and lonely, or 40 something year olds with a mid life crisis when they realize that everything has fallen apart. People who don't know where to go, or realize it's too late to change things. Travis Bickle had basically no friends, no family, no charisma with women and a lot of rage and anger. D-Fens lost his job, his self respect and was estranged from his ex-wife and daughter. These are people who's lives are shit at best (Patrick Bateman is a bit of a subversion. He is rich and successful, but his life is completely hollow, his relationships are shallow and he personally is very, very pathetic. I need to write about American Psycho later that film is great too.).
Mishima is different. He's smart enough to understand his issues and how to find help. He's got the money and means to do so. He's famous and rich enough that he could basically get away with anything weird or eccentric so long as it was harmless. On the world stage he was a popular author, and at home he led a life of political activism. If he was unhappy he could easily find healthy ways to fix it. His self destruction was the most avoidable of any of them, yet he's the only one that existed in real life. You expect these people to have serious personality flaws and unfixable (or seemingly unfixable) problems, not to be poetic writers that adhere to healthy living and regularly journal about their emotions, while enjoying respect from their peers and fulfillment in their work.
It's a hell of a film. Paul Schrader has not written or directed anything better (he actually wrote Taxi Driver too, so he had some experience with this type of character before) and it stands out as an incredible experience to watch. Like, Mishima's life is public knowledge and you can probably guess how it went, but I've purposefully not said what happened on November 25, 1970 because I don't want to spoil it. It's an event that actually happened but it's better for you to find out via the film than some wikipedia page.

when a character visibly drops a ruse
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know that post? It’s been stuck in my head for a very long time, because I love the concept so much but couldn’t really think of many examples in the stories I know. Oh, but this--hmm
You might remember a while back I was gushing about Katsuki’s lack of a mask during the rescue mission. I still think it’s symbolic to an extent. He’s had his mask torn on multiple occasions too, including the current chapters. I have no doubt that Katsuki is now way more in touch with and accepting of his feelings than Izuku is. His mask being absent or removed is like a flag for his vulnerability. And I’m thinking that for a long time now, since before the apology and even before ch 285, Katsuki has been outgrowing his knee-jerk defensiveness and aloof persona. Sure, he’ll always be a spitfire, but that doesn’t mean he has to stay distant. That doesn’t mean he’s incapable of gentleness.
But the thing is he does still act defensive. He makes a point to remind Izuku they’re still rivals, keeps him on his toes with his harsh retorts and surprise attacks. However I really don’t think it’s genuine anymore. Some of his classmates may complain about the way his behavior hasn't changed, but there’s a reason for it that they don't see: Katsuki’s apology is a true apology, one that doesn’t ask for anything in return. He learned this from Endeavor, and he even said he doesn’t expect things to change. So he has to keep up their established dynamic in case that’s all Izuku wants them to have. With this in mind, his actions make a lot more sense.
But for the most part this was just an idea I entertained for fun, not much to back it up. That is, until ch 362 came around. I had a hard time talking about it in the moment, because, ya know. Yet I couldn’t ignore how blatantly different he looked, the way he carried his face. When a character spends like 90% of the story looking like a growling feral animal, anything less is certainly startling. That’s one thing, he’s had his expression go neutral before. In 362 it was so consistent though. I mean, there was zero tension, only bliss and calm. And then he actually smiles in a fond, nostalgic way. It’s like in the privacy of his own mind or wherever he is, his old self just melts away. Suddenly he appears sweet and thoughtful. If you didn’t know his character at all, you would never guess based on these images that he has a whole other demeanor most of the time. On the long list of things the story has yet to address which proves Katsuki’s death wouldn’t make sense, this is near the top. I’m now fully attached to the concept of Katsuki consciously pretending to be like his old self, while having done all this character evolution in secret. Katsuki must live for Izuku to see him drop the ruse. But what will it take for that to happen?
The only thing I can be sure of is that Katsuki would need to see how Izuku really actually does want their relationship to change. This could come from witnessing Izuku’s breakdown, or feeling it through whatever vestige-y coma sort of form he might be in now, or through 2nd’s quirk. I really don’t know at this point. I do want to reiterate what I said in regards to Heroes Rising though, since that theory now looks more likely than ever. The character development that happened in the ending of that movie which had to be erased was Katsuki realizing Izuku “chooses” him, so this must also be a key part of their manga development. Though I don’t have any leads as to how it will happen, my favorite options are:
Either Izuku is finally pushed by his greatest nightmare (almost) being realized to finally verbalize his feelings to Katsuki
Or Izuku remains stubbornly in denial even though his feelings are now obvious to Katsuki, so Katsuki takes matters into his own hands.
Most recently, I now like the second idea better because as stated above, I think Katsuki is the more emotionally open of the two at this point. Thus he may even be the one to reach out and initiate that handhold moment we’re all waiting for. I mean, you know how badly he wants it. What a lovely role reversal that would be.
One more thing. I have a hunch. Just a hunch. And it has to do with Monoma. Before ch 363 I was musing about the fact that Monoma is the only one besides Izuku and the vestiges who witnessed the whole event of Izuku awakening blackwhip. He is the only one who knows (or might be able to infer) why Izuku lost control. Idk if this is relevant to Katsuki figuring it out necessarily, but it might matter for the audience’s perspective. I actually gasped when I saw Monoma have a flashback to joint training in 363, because there could be more to come. If we’re right, and there’s continuity to be found from blackwhip’s awakening, to Izuku keeping the detail about his heart a secret, to Shigaraki seeing that Katsuki is Izuku’s weakness, then Monoma can be the one to draw that through line. There’s already some (rather dark) irony being established as Monoma, who could be seen as representing a Bakugou anti, is now deeply shaken by his loss. Horikoshi must be hoping he can sway some antis in the same way, so if Monoma carries their POV and Hori also uses him to spell out the nature of Izuku’s feelings, that would mean Hori is seeking to defy people’s narrow understanding of their relationship as well. Again, Monoma is the ONLY other person who knows exactly what happened in joint training, and he’s right there, witnessing and commenting on this fight. Joint training memories are already on his mind. We are actually so close to an explicit confirmation of this theory about Izuku’s first vestige quirk awakening and his locked up emotions. It’s like I can see the shadow of the last puzzle piece coming into place.

Regarding your comments about Raven Molisee and Rachel Connor, what do you know about them specifically? Might you share with us?
By the way, what are your thoughts on season 5 as a whole? High and low points?
Can't remember any specifics now, but this is basically what I gathered from reading Raven's deviantart comments from the ancient days (I think it was these two doodle posts, TW blood in the first one). She was concerned the characters were becoming caricatures of themselves and/or acting out-of-character. It seems she voiced her doubts in the studio but they fell upon deaf ears, although at least one person, Sabrina Alberghetti (Sibsy) might have been of the same opinion, judging by a comment I saw. That's all I know really😅 Dunno if @lynyrdsquidward has more info on this (enlighten us professor 😁if you remember any of this old nonsense, that is, haha)
AFAIK Rachel Connor didn't say anything about this topic (most of what I've heard from her comes from those eene podcasts from a year or two ago), although this old tumblr post about Eddy and Bro gave me the idea she might have been on the same wavelength as Raven, in terms of being interested in 'angst' and deeper aspects of the characters' personalities. But you'd have to check which episodes she had a hand in to guess what she brought to the table. On a sidenote, she coincidentally joined the show around the same time as Raven (the holiday specials before season 5 started, and on until the end of the show).
As for what I think of season 5, maybe there is effectively an increase in insane slapstick, perhaps aided by the change to digital medium. Some of the action feels different, but I don't have a strong opinion, there's already lots of debate about season 5 as it is. Generally I might be biased towards the first 4 seasons cause my very vague memories of seeing EEnE as a kid are of the summer episodes. I will say, though, I've noticed that there's something oddly nostalgic about BPS for me, as if I did see it as a kid on TV, some saturday morning... maybe it's just the 'feature-length movie made for TV' aspect of it that feels familiar, dunno. I will say, Rachel Connor was the writer for Smile For The Ed, and I think it shows in that Eddy is an innocent victim for once (and I think Eddy being written as a 'villain' protagonist was sort-of the pet peeve for Raven) It's something to consider, whether you like the episode or not (people compare it to Your Ed Here, but I think it's different, topic for another time). Then you have Fistful of Ed, which no doubt was what Raven wanted to see from the show, at least for Edd's character. A personal favorite is Boom, Boom, Out Goes The Ed cause literally half of the episode is taken by Kevin and Rolf subplot 😁 I like to imagine a full season 6 would have seen more of the other characters on their own 👀

i kind of miss when walter bob was the outlier and not the example when it came to federation workers. maybe it’s just me being nostalgic.
for me, the reason why i can sympathise with walter bob but not the other workers like fred or agent 18 or whatever is because walter bob seemed much more trapped and unhappy in the federation: he was literally imprisoned, and was afraid of being punished by cucurucho for breaking rules. he was rank c, a simple construction worker, and then we found out he’s also part of the rebellion! which! interesting! does he have personality and emotions because of the rebellion? or did he join the rebellion because he has personality and emotions?
but apparently all the workers can feel things? despite it initially seeming like they were like. brainwashed out of having that stuff and that their only purpose was to serve the federation?
idk. i would’ve much preferred it if during qfoolish’s infiltration arc, the workers seemed so much more distant and inhuman, but slowly opened up over time. it would’ve made the federation still as intimidating, if not more, because it shows that they have the power to just completely get rid of someone’s anger and make them pliant (kind of like the happy pills; except instead of making the person happy it just makes them empty and responsive to orders). but because the other workers just get to act how they wish, it kind of brings down the fear factor of the federation.
one of the things i liked about tubbo and fred’s friendship (although i don’t really like or trust fred at all) was that tubbo had to teach them about emotions, identity, and friendship. they didn’t understand it, and it makes them so complex because they’ve tortured and want the torture of other islanders (pierre and quackity) but they also are developing a like for an islander, one that is kind of driving cucurucho insane because of his rulebreaking; i feel like there could be a cool scene where fred has to choose between tubbo and the federation (which could be made even more interesting if fred is working for cucurevil or whatever).
but i look at the other workers and it’s kind of obvious the admins just want to have fun and play silly characters. because they don’t have that same problem of struggling with emotions or having their own personality, and they also seem to be on good terms with cucurucho (they only seem slightly afraid when they get caught slacking which is to be expected since cucurucho is like. their boss ?? i think?).
idk there’s just a strange dichotomy between walter bob and fred, who seem to show that the federation is evil and doesn’t stand for imperfection in the form of rulebreaking or personality, and then all the other workers get to dance, and complain about the coffee machine being broken and whatnot. i don’t really get what i’m supposed to feel for the federation and the workers. i think i’m supposed to feel bad for them, especially when there’s plots where they get kidnapped or killed (qbbh and qcellbit’s arcs) but i just don’t. i mean, i do feel slightly bad for ron but not because they were kidnapped but more because of whatever stockholm syndrome they’ve got going on (but even then, not really because most of the islanders have some stockholm syndrome at this point).
maybe it’s because i’m more interested and sympathetic towards the player characters instead of the npc ones, because of their situation, and therefore any attempt to make me dislike a player character’s actions against these npcs just doesn’t work. i don’t feel bad for them because i’ve seen what the islanders have gone through. the federation has done worse to the islanders than they could ever do to them, and whether they want to or not, the workers are a part of the federation and are therefore responsible for some, if not most, of their trauma and pain.
(sorry for the long ass wall of text lol. and the negativity. feel free to ignore this, i understand if the neg asks you’re getting about the qsmp are getting tiring or repetitive atp. just wanted to put my thoughts out there because i like seeing your view and opinions)
Quite legitimately nothing to add here, you’re right

Cruel Summer - Part 5
Tumblr media
Jake & Sam x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, angst, Hozier, voyeurism, unprotected sex.
Happy Monday everyone. :) My ask box is open for thoughts/questions/concerns/inspiration as this series continues!
When you finally make your way to the wedding, the two of you arrive 17 minutes early exactly despite the late start. You explain the importance of being early to weddings to Jake while you walk at a quick pace towards the venue. He trails behind at a normal speed, taking in his surroundings of the gardens from behind his sunglasses.
As you enter, there are two rows of open chairs near the middle of the ceremony venue, so you decide to sit at the end of the back row and save the rest of the spots for his brothers and Danny.
The two of you get comfortable, casually commenting on the decor and watching guests enter, when you feel Jake place a warm hand on your bare thigh where it’s exposed from the slit of the dress. You can’t help but look down in confusion, then back up at his handsome side profile. It was extremely out of character for him to show any kind of PDA, but before you can get a word out to question it, Josh, Danny, Sammy, and his girlfriend walk in.
You turn politely over your shoulder to greet them all with a wave as they come and sit in the row in front of you. Nausea and dread fill your gut as Sammy’s eyes dart to Jake’s hand on your leg, but he quickly and casually averts his gaze, pulling his date under his arm and guiding her to her seat. He’s dressed in a red suit, the cuffs and accents a contrasting black to the sanguine velvet of his jacket and pants. You feel sick watching them together after what happened between you two. You’re not sure if it’s jealousy or guilt, but either way, you’d rather be anywhere else.
As if to torture you, his date turns around to exchange pleasantries with Jake and Josh. Sam turns slightly, listening, observing. Your stare has to be burning holes into him as you literally cannot pull your eyes off of his bright red ensemble. It’s too bad he’s either unaware or ignoring you all the while. You’re not trying to flaunt Jake in front of him, but you’re almost positive that’s how he’s taken the public display of affection.
Throughout the ceremony, it feels like all you can do is watch Sam and his girlfriend interact. You notice a few things throughout the duration. The first and foremost being that she obviously doesn’t want to be here.
The second being the way they’re avoiding each other. At one point she reaches for his arm, but he remains still and doesn’t reciprocate. He doesn’t seem to act like the Sam you’ve come to know. A twinge of guilt passes through you- he’s been more physical with you lately than he seems to be with his own girlfriend.
The third is that he’s still sad, and that breaks your heart straight down the middle.
The ceremony ends and you all make your way to cocktail hour. It moves along mostly pain-free, as you stand at a high-top table with Jake and catch up about his recent time away in New York. You keep your back to the rest of the group, trying to keep from staring at the trainwreck that is Sam and his date.
The reception is in a beautiful, ornate, dimly lit room. The wedding’s dark colors and bluesy atmosphere feel like home to you. You think back to the evening you met Jake, joining him and Josh at that small table in the back of your Nashville dive. He seems to have the same thought as the band plays a familiar tune and he reaches for your hand, asking you to dance. It feels so nostalgic that you can’t say anything but yes.
You take his hand and follow him out onto the dance floor, gliding into his embrace as he rocks back and forth with you, his left hand in your right, his other arm around your waist.
“You really do look absolutely stunning tonight,” he compliments, and you blush under his gaze.
“Thank you. You look devilishly handsome, as usual.” You push a piece of his long hair behind his ear. “But how can you see in this dark ass room with your sunglasses on?”
“All I need to see is right in front of me,” he flirts, and you roll your eyes at the over-the-top flattery. You fall into comfortable silence for a while until the mix of your hurt feelings over seeing Sam and the three glasses of champagne make you feel braver than you have in a while. It’s you that disturbs the quiet first.
“Jake. What are we doing?”
In his typical Jake fashion, he’s cool, calm, and collected despite the loaded question you just lobbed at him. “Dancing, love.”
“You know what I mean!” You can’t help but let your head fall back and groan at his smartassery. “How long am I going to be the girl that doesn’t get to spend the night?” You know you sound a little worked up, but it’s only because it’s taken you the last 2.5 months to gain the courage to ask. And you’re under the influence at a wedding, where romantic tension between everyone who isn’t married or even dating is high, so that’s not helping.
“As long as you want to be.” His answer is short and simple  as he lifts his arm and spins you underneath like a ballerina; like it’s all some sort of joke to him.
“And what happens when I’ve had enough?” you prod, tilting your head, honestly questioning him as he pulls you back into his sturdy embrace.
“Then I guess you can stay the night. However, you should know I snore like a freight train.” You’re at the point where you’re not finding it funny anymore.
“Not literally, Jake. You know what I mean.” You’re a little more tense now as the two of you continue swaying to the wedding band’s song.
“If you want an actual answer, you have to ask the actual question.” He’s still so unphased by it all that you can’t help but feel like you’re not going to like what you hear.
“Are you ever going to introduce me as more than your date? Will you ever hold my hand instead of walking behind me like you don’t know me?” The questions were incredibly heavy as they hung in the air above you both. “Will I ever be more than a convenient fuck for you?” you ask, this time your voice taking on a sad timbre. Jake seems to think for a moment before sighing and leveling with you.
“I’m not exactly interested in… settling down or committing to anything right now. And I have to be honest, I don’t know when I will be.” He’s genuine now, looking at your eyes over the stupid glasses on his face.
“We’re going to be touring for another few years. It just doesn’t make sense for me right now.” All you can do is accept, nodding gently. “But hey.” He crouches a bit to catch your downcast eyes. “It’s not about wanting to fuck other people. I’m not seeing anyone else. You’re free to explore your options if that’s something you’re looking to do. You know. Settle down. House and a dog and all that.” He smiles gently at you, continuing to rock you to the bluesy tune in the background. “But it’s not like that.”
“Well that’s… good to know,” you say with a sad smile as the song slows to an end.
“I have fun with you,” he says, as if it’s a consolation. The kiss he presses to your lips is met with almost no enthusiasm. You politely break from him to head to the table and get your drink.
As you’re walking to your seat, you spot Sam and his date bickering in the corner. It’s like a trainwreck you can’t look away from as they tensely converse while the rest of the reception moves around them. Eventually the storms off, and when his gaze finds yours it feels like time is frozen. You look at him and hope he can feel the heaviness in your gaze. I wish things were different.
He stays where he is, running a hand through your hair. You’re still stuck standing behind your chair, not sure what to do with yourself. You feel magnetically drawn to him, but he asked for space, so you can’t will yourself to move from where you’re frozen. Your spiral is startled by an abrupt change in volume from the stage.
You turn to see Jake donning the wedding band’s guitar, the usual player making a beeline to the bar himself. Jake strums a few times, trying to get familiar with a guitar that’s not his own tried and true Gibson. A scan of the stage reveals the groom is at the mic dedicating the song to his bride. You smile up at the stage as the drummer clicks his sticks in a countoff.
“Jackie and Wilson,” you murmur after the first few notes.
Time is moving too fast as Sam walks to approach you. He offers his hand wordlessly and you accept, following him to the center of the dance floor.
You all but fall into Sam’s embrace, hands shaking, knees threatening to buckle. He pulls you in closer, but not too close, no matter how badly you wish you were pressed against him. It’s hard not to blush as he looks down at you, but you try to play it completely cool.
“Hi,” you say casually as he takes your hand in his.
“Hi,” he answers, his boyish voice reverberating in your heart. “You look lovely.” The tension is already palpable 30 seconds into your interaction.
“You look very handsome yourself,” answer with dignity, squeezing his hand once quickly. He lets out a chuckle as his other hand finds your lower back.
“How much champagne have you had?” he chides jokingly, subtly turning you around so your back is to Jake. That, however, has moved you directly into his date’s line of sight as she’s dancing with Josh on the other side of the room. You offer a kind smile her way and she returns it, her firetruck red lips pursed together as if it’s ingenuine. The potential guilt you should be feeling is squashed as you look away and back into Sam’s eyes, seeing his mood improve for the first time tonight.
“You liquor drinkers left your toasting glasses unattended. What else was I supposed to do?” You decide it’s safer to avoid the subject of his crumbling relationship or your accidental kiss and continue the small talk.
“It only takes three glasses of champagne for you to find me handsome,” he says, puffing out his chest with pride. “I think that’s pretty good.” Your eyes are bleary from the alcohol as you look up at his stupid, smug, kissable face and remember the way his lips feel against yours. It’s truly taking everything in you not to pull him in by the lapels of his jacket and kiss him until he can’t see straight.
“I think you know that’s not true,” you flirt, your attempt at ignoring the situation falling flat.
You’re briefly nervous that you’ve offended him, crossing the line he drew between you again, but then you see his heartstopping smile, his eyes crinkling at the edges, his slightly imperfect teeth shining for the first time that night. He doesn’t respond, and he doesn’t have to. All he does is pull you closer; close enough that you can’t keep staring into his eyes that feel so much like home, but everything feels right again once he starts singing along with the band.
“She’s gonna save me, call me baby, run her hands through my hair. She’ll know me crazy, soothe me daily, better yet she wouldn’t care.”
He lets go of your hand and encourages you to spin under his arm. You step out, keeping your fingers linked with his as you turn. He pulls you back in and you continue swaying with him as he sings.
“You okay?” he asks, sensing your inner turmoil. You sigh and look up at the ceiling, letting out a defeated laugh.
“I’m not. But I will be.” His thumb absentmindedly moves back and forth where his hand rests on your back, gently consoling you as much as he probably can. A few beats of silence pass before he decides to address the elephant in the room.
“If he’s not treating you right, you should break things off,” he says, giving you a spoonful of hypocritical advice you didn’t ask for.
“Says the one who was just publicly arguing with his girlfriend in the middle of a wedding reception?” you laugh, rolling your eyes. “I feel like you’re not really in a position to give me relationship advice as of late.”
He gives a slight laugh at that, nodding in agreement. It’s quiet between the two of you for a moment as the song plays on.
“Listen. I know we’re supposed to regret what happened the other day. But I don’t.” You’re drunk on champagne and Sam and now there’s no turning back from what you just said.
He begins to answer but you place a finger to his lips, giving him a tipsy shush. “Don’t. We don’t have to talk about it. But I just… I just need you to know. I didn’t kiss you because I was lonely or bored or confused. I did it because I like spending time with someone who cares about me and the things I do. You made me realize what I want and I can’t be mad at you for not reciprocating my feelings, because you still helped me.” You sigh, feeling the incredible weight lifted off your shoulders. “I’m sorry. But please don’t say anything. I can’t take being rejected by two of you in one night. I just wanted you to know.”
He glares down at you, humorous disbelief all over his face.
“I can’t say anything?” he asks with a knowing lilt to his voice, and you shake your head with a smirk. It’s then that the song slows to an end sooner than you would have liked. You all clap for Jake as he gives a wave of thanks and hands the guitar to its rightful owner.
“Okay,” he says, as if he’s got something to tell you, but you think the second blow to your self esteem mixed with the bubbly would send you home early in a fit of tears. You let go of his hand and turn to watch as Jake comes down off the stage,  approaching his younger brother and giving him a hearty slap on the back.
“Hope you were nice to my girl,” Jake says, pulling you close by the waist and kissing you on the cheek. Sam nods with a polite smile.
“Always am,” he responds under his breath, but you’re already pulling out of Jake’s grasp, still left feeling sour after your discussion earlier.
“Not your girl,” you say, giving Jake a poke in the chest before walking off towards the bar to finally get yourself a drink.
-oOo-
The formal dinner ends and the afterparty begins, the smaller group of close friends (and those with the stamina to party harder somehow) moving into the saloon-esque basement of the impressive venue. The lights are dim, the liquor is flowing, and there’s a pool table. As usual, you see the four boys readying themselves for a few games. You, instead, take a trip to the bar and have a chat with the bride, complimenting her stunning dress from earlier and the one she’s in now. By the end of the conversation, she’s ordering you both tequila shots.
Feeling warm and happy and a little too drunk to be the DD, you decide to order an ice water and make your way back to the pool table, standing by to watch them play. You look around and notice that Sam’s girlfriend is nowhere to be found.
Eventually Jake beats Sam at pool, letting out a macho grunt of celebration before pulling you in for a big kiss. The alcohol in your brain mixed with your conflicting feelings for both him and his brother have left you touch starved and in need of attention. You find yourself hungrily accepting his full lips and savoring the taste of his tongue in front of the entire room, tangling your hands in his hair. After a few seconds, you stop yourself from melting into him and come back to earth, pulling away nervously. You take a second to scrutinize his face, making sure he is who you think he is. Your vision clears before blurring again and you confirm.
He pulls you closer to him by the waist as he yells over your shoulder at someone else, joking loudly. His scarred forearm is around you, his talented hand splayed across your back. You scan the room over your shoulder with drunken eyes and can’t help but catch Sam’s. He’s lounging in a tacky, floral high back chair with his long legs stretched out over one arm. His sanpaku eyes lazily make their way from your face down your body to where Jake’s hand rests and below. He drags them back up to yours and wiggles his fingers lazily in a hidden wave, giving a sneaky smile. You roll your eyes, turning around and clinging to Jake, resting your head on his shoulder, hoping it makes Sam even just the slightest bit jealous.
You boldly bury your head in Jake’s neck, biting and sucking gently just once at the skin right above his collarbone. It elicits a heavy exhale from him, and you can hear in his too-loud words being sent across the room that it’s tripped him up. He moves to swiftly end the conversation and cups your cheek, pulling your glazed eyes to look at him.
“Have you been drinking tequila, miss?” he chides quietly, a knowing smirk on his face. You blush and give a small, mischievous smile while he holds your face in his hands.
“Maybe.” You nuzzle against his hand and it earns you a chuckle from him, eating up the attention.
You can’t even bring yourself to look at what Sam may be up to until Jake pulls you into his lap, sitting on one of the leather sofas in the saloon across from his brother.
He’s still sitting where you saw him last, his eyebrows raised, clearly thrown off by your behavior. You bat your eyelashes innocently at him, almost remorseful that he’s not the one driving you to such depravity.
Jake shifts underneath you as he chats with the groom sitting nearby, discussing some album you’ve probably never listened to in excruciating detail. You take an opportunity to wiggle a bit in his grasp and he hugs you closer.
Then things get a little more interesting, because at the sight of Jake’s hands on your body, drunk Sam’s interest is piqued. He watches with hazy, drunken eyes, his gaze unwavering. Jake’s warm hand slides down to your thigh, grabbing tightly past the slit of your dress.
Feeling bold and drunk, you make a show of shifting your hips in Jake’s lap with a slow, sensual roll as you pull your hair over your shoulder to expose your skin to him. Behind you, Jake is just as (if not more) intoxicated, careless and handsy, completely unbothered by the others that are around.
You hold direct eye contact with Sam as Jake starts to place soft, wet kisses on the side of your neck. Your eyelids flutter but you maintain his gaze. Jake drags his hand up your thigh slowly, his fingertips grazing just high enough that your lips part slightly in surprise, and if it wasn’t so fucking loud in there, Sam might have heard the small moan you let out. You see him swallow thickly as his eyes finally move from yours and trail past your chest, down your torso to your hips and thighs, where just enough of your soft skin is exposed and in his older brother’s hand.
The thought of it makes you feel fuzzy. You can’t help but smirk when his eyes flick back up to meet yours, caught in the act. Turning your head, you capture Jake in a kiss. You can feel he’s watching closely, so you make a show of biting Jake’s lower lip. It pushes Jake just a hair too far, dragging a moan out of him before he breaks from the kiss.
“You’re going to ruin a pair of perfectly nice pants,” he whispers into your hair as he pulls you back to lean against his chest. You’re still stuck in a staring contest with Sam, who now has a pink tint to his cheeks. You nod gently at Jake as he continues to whisper some vulgar nonsense in your ear, your face flushed and lips swollen. You probably look like a ridiculous mess- your hair in loose curls, your makeup surely smudged, and your dress riding up.
Your eyes are narrowed at Sam as you grind down on Jake’s lap once more, searching for some kind of relief, staring as if he’s anything but useless all the way across the room. You furrow your brow in frustration as you squirm, knowing just what you need, Jake’s fingers drag along your inner thigh again before this time grazing the hem of your panties, and your breath hitches. Sam quickly looks down to Jake’s hands, then back up at your face. He has an almost sinful smirk on his lips as he gives an upward nod, daring you to go further. You accept the challenge, shifting your left leg just enough to part your thighs and let him see up the skirt of your dress. His eyes immediately find your center and see the wet spot formed there before he looks up at your guilty, wanton face. Seconds after you lock eyes, the tension in the entire room snaps and Josh beats Danny at the game of pool they were apparently still playing.
The room is no longer moving in slow motion. Everyone jumps and looks up from what they were doing to cheer as Danny heads to the bar and Josh shouts of his victory. Everything is moving so much faster than before that you’re taken off guard, disoriented, lost. Josh is handing Jake a shot over your shoulder. You take the hint to stand as Jake moves towards the bar, now unsure of where to go or what to do, so you head into the bathroom, realizing you’re sobering up and need to get yourself together.
You take a moment to splash some water on your face to combat the heat between your legs. Once you’re back outside, you see that Jake and Josh are now battling each other. You take in the sight before you, Jake absolutely shitfaced and attempting to play pool against his twin, and have to laugh. You scan the room for Sam, but he’s nowhere to be found. As if he could read your mind, you feel a warm hand on your lower back. The two of you are hidden away in a dark corner of the room, so you whip around to see him.
“Nice show you put on back there,” he says at a normal volume. You give him the most genuine puzzled look you can muster.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Sammy.” You shoot a look over your shoulder keeping an eye on what’s happening at the party, but when you turn back to Sam, he grabs you by the wrist and starts down the hallway at a speed you struggle to keep up with. You hurry to pick up your dress, trying not to trip in your heels.
“Where are we going?!” you yell with a laugh, but he shushes you, still pulling you along. Your shoes are so loud on the hard floor as you clamber after him you’re sure someone can hear you.
“Sam!” you whisper-shout, and he stops short in front of the unmarked door you’re passing. When he tries the handle, it’s unlocked. He opens it and flips on the light, bathing the room in warm light. You take in your surroundings as he pulls you inside and shuts the door behind you, locking it. There’s a chaise lounge and a few half finished bottles of champagne scattered around the room. A look to the opposite corner tells you you’re in the bridal suite- there’s her gown hanging over the mirror on a hanger bent into her new last name.
“What are we-” you begin to ask, but you’re cut off as Sam pulls you against him, his lips crashing into yours. You let out a throaty moan, finally getting to taste him again. God, how you missed him.
“Sam, wait,” you whine, gently pushing at his shoulders. He breaks from the kiss but carries on, kissing and sucking at your neck, his hands wandering to palm your ass over your dress.
“What about- oh!” You’re silenced again by a love bite, his tongue sweeping out to soothe your skin immediately.
“I ended things,” he says against your skin, and you pull his face up to look at you.
“Are you serious?” you ask, and he nods once, a devilish grin on his face.
“As a heart attack,” he quips before he guides you to the chaise. “Now get on your back.”  You scurry to the seat as he shrugs off his red blazer, adjusting your gown so it’s covering your legs.
“Why so shy now?” he asks, approaching and lifting the chiffon from where it’s covering you. His eyes make their way up your legs before he swoops in between them, leaning in close to whisper in your ear.
“I tried to tell you, stubborn girl.” His mouth is so warm on your chest as he kisses and sucks on every bit of skin accessible to him. You’re sure this is a dream. You’re certain that you fell and hit your head on the dance floor and this is a concussion induced hallucination.
“I didn’t know,” you say quietly as he sits up on his heels to slip off your panties.
“Maybe if you would have listened, I wouldn’t have had to watch you give my fucking brother a lap dance, huh?” he says, the Sammy you know shining through with a quiet laugh. You bite your lip, shaking your head while you watch him undo his black belt, his red pants falling to reveal he’s in black briefs, straining against them.
You’re silent for a moment as your eyes register what you’re looking at. He’s got a smug smile on his face, his eyelids heavy with lust as he looks between your face and your exposed core.
“I wanna know exactly what you’re thinking,” he says, an arrogant tone in his voice. You shake your head, reaching for him.
“Tell me. I wanna hear you say it.”  He pulls the briefs down and comes down to kiss you, placing two gentle kisses on your cheeks as he strokes himself beneath you. “Bigger, right?”
You try to hide your smile from him as he looks down at you, but it’s proving to be incredibly difficult. “Sam, please,” you whine, covering your face in embarrassment, needing him inside you.
“Nice,” he says with pride in an unbelievable display of youngest sibling energy. You finally feel him against you and buck your hips, more than ready for him to get on with it now that the contest is over.
“I guess I don’t have to worry about foreplay,” he begins, running himself between your folds. “Seems like you’re nice and wet after letting my brother finger you in front of the entire fucking after party.” You wish you had it in you to respond with something bratty, but he’s pushing into you before your brain has a chance to formulate a sentence. The delicious feeling of him leaves you speechless, your mouth agape.
“Nothing to say?” he says, bottoming out inside you. He’s right. No words come out of you. What does come out however is an absolutely vulgar moan as you stare at where your bodies are meeting. Your hand finds the back of his neck to pull him down to you for a kiss, your tongue finding his, desperate to taste every inch of him, starting here.
“That’s what I thought,” he grunts out through gritted teeth. He sets a hypnotizing pace, just slow enough to make sure you feel every inch of him inside you. His impressive size has cleared every thought from your brain as he grazes the sweetest spot inside you with every thrust; as if he was made for you. You’d be lying if you said you’d ever felt anything like him before.
Sam pushes up onto his knees, the angle he’s thrusting at now making you see stars. His hands find your shins and push your legs back into you, spreading them further, knowing exactly what the delicious curve of his body is doing to you. You begin to unravel, your hips desperately bucking to meet him, needing more of him.
“Should I let you cum? Or should I send you home with your whiskey dick boyfriend, all wound up with no relief?” You weren’t sure if he was serious or not, but regardless you weren’t ready to risk it.
“He’s not my fucking boyfriend,” you cry out in frustration, your voice cracking. “Please Sammy make me cum. Please.” He chuckles at your desperation, gracing you with the delight of his thumb to sweep across your clit, making light work of your orgasm. You’re so close, you hold tight to his wrist, praying he won’t pull away. “I’m so close,” you whisper, your body tensing up, back arching. You want to cry when he slows his pace just the slightest bit.
“You’re not gonna go home and fuck my brother are you?” There are tears threatening in your water line as you look up at him, begging him for mercy with your mascara smudged eyes.
“No, no no no. I promise Sammy. Please,” you beg, your nails leaving half moons on the delicate skin of his forearm. He hums in satisfaction, more than pleased with your desperate response.
“C’mon then,” he says, the cockiness back and dripping from his every pore. His smug attitude is just enough to send you over the edge, squeezing and gushing around him. He leans down to give you a delicious taste of his lips again, his pace slowing in an attempt not to stop your heart, or at least you think. He slows to a stop, his lips still against yours, so sweet you don’t want to taste anything else ever again, so long as you both shall live. You’re heartbroken when he breaks away, pulling out of you and whispering against your lips, “On your knees, sweetheart.”
You follow his instructions immediately, gently getting to your knees, your gown pooling around you. Watching through your long lashes as he strokes himself, you can’t help but open your mouth and present your tongue to him. Sam lets out a low groan at the sight, his brows creasing together and lips parting so beautifully you think there’s no possible way he’s real. But he is, and he’s yours, and you swallow up every drop he gives you as if it will never be enough.
After he quickly tucks himself back into his pants, he offers his palm to help you up. You smile sheepishly at him as he kisses the back of your hand before pulling you in. He holds your head tight against his chest, resting his own on top of it.
“I wanted to do it right, you know. Buy you flowers, make you dinner, ask you to go steady. All the things you deserve.”
You laugh, nuzzling against him. “You like me? I thought this was a rebound.”
He groans at your antics, placing a firm kiss to the crown of your head. Comfortable silence falls over the two of you as he holds you tight.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you the truth. I didn’t really know what to do. It’s not every fucking day you fall for your bother’s girlfriend while you’re searching for reasons to break up with your own.”
“Not my boyfriend,” you add in, mumbling against his chest.
“Alright, come on.” He releases you, leaning over to pick up his suit jacket from the chair where it was thrown. You take the opportunity to fix your hair and wipe your eyes, not looking nearly as good as you did at the beginning of the night, but still good enough that nobody will be able to tell what just transpired. The two of you walk down the hall hand in hand and prepare to enter the afterparty undetected.

Do you have any headcanons regarding Sonic characters and their sexuality? Either from idw, archie or just Sonic in general
I do, actually! Since I have quite a lot I'll put a bunch of random ones under the cut
But if there are any sexuality headcanons I didn't include under the cut or you'd like me to elaborate on, feel free to send me another ask!😊❤️
Sonic (Archie):
Oh boy. So, writing inconsistencies aside, from pretty early on I settled on Archie Sonic being on the AroAce spectrum. And originally, this was because of how his relationship with one Sally Acorn was handled. I've read my fair share of "will they won't they" romances in my lifetime, so I could understand having one or both of them being jealous when there's an implication that the other may like a different person romantically. I can also understand being afraid to confess or trying to make the other person jealous so they'll chase them without having to make a proper confession.
However, I soon became very frustrated at the writers' handling of this relationship I'd so loved when I was a kid. Why? The simple crux of the matter is that there is a point early on in Archie Sonic where both Sally and Sonic are aware that the other has feelings for them, but the story is still played like a "will they won't they". These two were often treated like they were in this weird spot between dating and childhood friends. So if Sally kissed someone else (like Geoffrey) it would make Sonic wildly jealous. With that, in moments like these, each of the other would react as if they'd been cheated on (although if memory serves me well, Sally's actually kissing other people or pretending to be into someone to make Sonic jealous wasn't treated as badly as Sonic looking in the direction of a love interest, but I digress). And as this relationship started stretching out to 50 and 100 and more issues, I started going from wondering if it would ever be resolved in the runtime (because their relationship drama always seemed to be milked for views, with Sally's character traits often changed on a whim so she would create this drama) to just wishing they'd have the two go for other people or something (and perhaps perserve any love I still had left for a nostalgic childhood ship).
The thing is is that the longer their relationship and "will they won't they" stretches on, the more it just seems like there are no excuses for them not to have started dating officially yet. And honestly? It really isn't even fully Sally's fault that it takes so long for them to get together initially. Why? Well, early on pretty explicitly, Sally makes it clear that she's afraid to push her relationship with Sonic because then *Sonic* gets afraid and sort of runs instinctually away from being tied down. Interesting, right?
Sonic the Hedgehog flirted with Sally Acorn, sure. He even had grudges with characters like Antoine or Geoffrey because they expressed similar feelings for Sally, and acted jealous when anyone threatened to take Sally away from him. In issue 50 of Archie Sonic, Sonic had an all out brawl to the death with the original Robotnik in that comic over him orchestrating Sally's death.
And yet, it doesn't matter what happens. Once Sally's no longer looking at some other guy, he doesn't kiss her or try to get her to date him. He lets things go back to normal on purpose. He succeeds at making her only look at him because he apparently doesn't want others to take her, but then doesn't confess. He saves Sally from a kiss after thinking she died, being sentenced to banishment after being framed for her death, and after fighting their mutual enemy to the death over it, and all he can do when Sally wakes up is play it all off like he doesn't actually like her like that. The romance tropes are shoved in front of his eyes (fairy-tale romance tropes even)!
But the moment he's sure Sally isn't looking at anyone else or that he has her, he immediately makes sure things go back to how they usually are. For the longest time it seems like no big life fearing event or act of jealousy is enough for Sonic to solidify that relationship. And because he has so so so many moments and chances to, moments that other characters in a story snatch up in a heartbeat (especially when they know the feelings are mutual), it's hard not to feel that this is purposeful or means something.
So while reading I proposed the headcanon or possible reading that Sonic is on the AroAce spectrum. More specifically, that he's solidly aroace/grayaroace and is suffering from comphet, or that he's litho. I personally surmise that he cares about Sally Acorn a lot (that was never out of the question), but as they are childhood friends about the same age that can work well together, everyone and themselves assumed that the two of them would naturally end up together. I think the real reason Sonic would get so jealous when Sally kissed someone else early on was because he had it in his head that that was supposed to be them, and was afraid that if anyone else dated Sally then he and Sally wouldn't be able to have as strong/close of a relationship as they do. I think he ran away when Sally would try to confess and make things go back to normal when Sally was okay and only looking at him because he didn't actually want to be in a romantic relationship with her. Essentially, he wanted the security that she'd be around and they'd still be close without actually dating. At the end of the day, even if they both knew their feelings were mutual, Sonic avoided confirming their relationship status for the longest time because he didn't actually want to date her (and I'll be clear right now, the event that finally gets Sonic to date Sally in Archie canon was not only less life endangering than when he thought she was dead, it was very clearly a forced moment where Sonic finally had to make a choice for the sake of the audience. And despite not really indulging in Mina's advances, it says so much that the writers were seriously going to make Sonic choose and then date whichever girl the fans liked more).
And beyond how Sonic himself spent so much time avoiding confession and actually dating Sally, there's also this. He never really presents real romantic affection towards any other female character (in fact, it's largely implied in scenes like Mina kissing him that he didn't feel the same because he was pursuing Sally). He expresses not wanting to marry Sally because he doesn't want to be tied down and stuck as king of the country instead of adventuring. In fact, he has a nasty breakup with Sally after they finally get together because she tries to force him to stop being a freedom fighter and settle down in the castle with her. Once, Tails even asks Sonic why he's not dating any girls, and Sonic expresses to Tails that he can date pretty much any girl he wants out there, but that "girls are too much trouble" and that he'd rather be free and be himself than be tied down (also implying to Tails that he doesn’t really want to be with anyone). When Robotnik is dead and the rebuilding of Mobotropolis begins, Sonic opts in on taking Tails on a worldwide adventure with him to find Ixis Naugus (a journey that told me personally that Archie Sonic was at his happiest when being able to freely explore the world at his own discretion with his little buddy at his side). While this is a small thing also, in the issue centered around he and Sally having a date, they are both late to it (in a way that almost makes you wonder whether it was really an accident).
So, to end this bit. While I think it's clear Archie Sonic cared about Sally a lot and did like having kids, the handling of his relationship with Sally most of the time makes a lot more sense to me if I recontextualize it as Sonic having a strong platonic bond with Sally and dealing both with his comphet/internalized homophobia telling him that they naturally have to get together and that he has romantic feelings and the truth of him not actually wanting to date anyone (or girls at least). That's really why I feel like Archie Sonic could be litho or generally on the aroace spectrum, especially since his stronger more passionate bonds are often with rivals/enemies like Knuckles and Scourge, and how the damsel in distress tropes or the "you and me together forever makes me happy" thing was applied to his relationship and journies with Tails.
Sonic (IDW):
My actual general headcanon for Sonic’s sexuality is AroAspec but also gay, just because he often shies away from certain advances that certain girls make that he doesn’t mind when guys do it. However, Sonic also to me seems to just have a thing for people who try to kill him. So even though I align him as AroAspec and gay leaning, I do concede that the rival/enemy effect (aka, Sonic just really having a thing with people who have all out brawls with him or genuinely try to kill him) transcends gender. I suppose I could headcanon IDW Sonic as bi but eh. Even though there are female characters I ship idw Sonic with, those relationships are just special to me and don't neatly fit into the romantic category.
Tails (Archie):
Okay, so in general I headcanon most versions of Tails as bi. I'll get that out of the way first. To me that is a bi fox.
However, Archie is one of the few Sonic properties where I headcanon Tails as gay specifically. Why? I'll tell you
So early on in the beginning of Archie Sonic, the most Tails expresses any strong feelings is when he upholds Sonic as his hero (the same way Amy does when she is introduced). For a little while he's not shown to be interested in any real romance or in any girls romantically. However, there hits a point where it often seems like the writers will go "Ah shit uh. This fox likes girls okay! We promise!", present it in the most forced manner, and then not actually put any real substance into Tails' alleged feelings for said girl. The biggest moment of this though (as all the moments before are really tiny) is when Tails meets the robot copy of Fiona Fox.
Personally, the origins of the Fiona Fox thing always seemed forced to me. From a Doylist perspective, it felt like the writers started the Fiona Fox thing to prove that Tails was a "normal" growing boy who obviously would like girls, naturally. In this case, quite possibly because the fans just wanted Tails to have a girlfriend since Sonic was paired with Sally and Bunnie with Antoine. From a Watsonian perspective, especially with the emphasis on Tails wanting to be treated like a grown up and insisting he's mature, well... Let's just say that what better to prove that you're just as mature as everyone else than by having a fairy-tale romance with a girl fox about your age who is aesthetically pleasing?
No but honestly. Since Tails was a younger character who hadn't expressed any real romantic interest before this (with him putting the most passion into his admiration for Sonic), the Fiona Fox thing felt extremely forced. It was hard to believe that someone who'd never really expressed interest in girls or dating before would suddenly fall madly in love. Plus, after the reveal of his love story being fake and made up, the dramatics kind of shift between Tails going off about his lost innocence and how he can't bear to fight Fiona and loves her so much, to him being...unconcerned with his "broken heart" and more concerned with seeming mature and how he wants to be treated with respect by the freedom fighters. It was hard for me personally to take those stories seriously and seriously believe that Tails was into girls in Archie.
And for Archie Tails, the Fiona thing as far as I remember was the only thing he had going for him romantically. Like Sonic, he put all of his fixation onto the one girl he's narratively supposed to like romantically and didn't show an interest in romance with girls otherwise. In fact, Tails' romance prospects after this don't really come up again until the real Fiona joins the freedom fighters. And while the intent of this is to show "oh, Tails still has feeling even though what he had was fake", here's my reading of Archie Tails (re:the Fiona thing).
Just like with Archie Sonic, I don't actually believe Archie Tails wants to be with girls romantically. I think the robot Fiona thing was (at best) infactuation, and more than likely him playing into the romance angle because of "he was a boy she was a girl can I make it anymore obvious" and wanting to prove that he's as mature as the other freedom fighters and deserves respect reasons. It's also common for gays suffering under comphet to find this one person you can fixate on. Essentially, this person who would make sense to be attracted to, who is objectively attractive, and who you can put on a pedestal and endlessly pursue because they will never date you. Essentially proving you're "normal" by pursing someone who will most likely never like you back, specifically because deep down if they never like you back you never have to get in a relationship with someone. I think that when Fiona returned (organic this time) as this beautiful older girl who other people he knew would objectively describe as "sexy", she was someone he could easily put back up on that pedestal and pursue even while she clearly wasn't interested in him. And with that in mind, even though Sonic's dating of Fiona put a strain on his and Tails' relationship, it always seemed to be that this was not because "Sonic stole his girl". Rather, Tails was more distraught over Sonic breaking "the bro code" and getting together with someone Sonic knew he had a thing for (or allegedly did). Essentially he was more concerned with Sonic breaking his trust or not considering his feelings than he was over someone else getting to have Fiona romantically.
And again, outside of the Fiona thing, pre and post sgw Tails is rarely implied to genuinely have romantic interest in girls. He gets married to Mina in 25 yrs later and has kids with her, but we never get to see the leadup to this, he is never implied to have feelings for Mina in the Prime universe, and when he actually appears in 25 years later to speak it's more of a given that he's married to Mina than he's actually shown having some profound romance with her.
You get me?
The Tails Variants from Sonic Prime:
They're another exception to my usual "Tails is bi headcanon", largely because I see them on the aroace spectrum and as gay😂
Amy Rose:
I have sort of conflicting headcanons with her. I both see her as a lesbian who put Sonic on a pedestal as a boy she could chase around and pursue romantically (even though Sonic clearly didn't reciprocate) while having the security that Sonic won't actually agree, and I headcanon her as someone on the AroAce spectrum who is more in love with the concept of love than someone who actually experiences romantic love herself. This is a largely universal headcanon I have for her, and while I can lean more one way or the other depending on the Sonic property, I usually enjoy both of these headcanons.
Knuckles (Archie):
Every iteration of Knuckles is gay to me. I'll just put that out there. And in Archie Sonic specifically I headcanon him as gay and ace (or on the ace spectrum). This is largely because, well.
To even date a woman, the universe (and Mr. Penders) had to forcibly deliver him one in the form of a soulmate. His early writing of his relationship with his love interest, Julie-Su is often so inconsistent as well that you know he considers her a friend at some point, but his alleged "romantic feelings" feel like they're inherent (like he has to have them because they're Echidna soulmates) and that the interpretation of them being romantic is being pushed onto him. Mr. Penders played the "a boy pulls a girl's pigtails and calls her annoying cause he secretly likes her" card with this relationship, but Knuckles quite literally confides in his father that he doesn’t get why she annoys him and that he gets along so much better with his guy friends. Knuckles even suggests that girls should stick with girls and boys should stick with boys before his father, Locke, gives him a talk that kind of amounts to "sure you could be with guys but of course you as a normal boy would eventually want *more*". And this is also after Knuckles confesses that he doesn’t look at other girls (unsurprising, given that he doesn’t pursue any other girls romantically).
This is all to say that while not only was his romance arc forced and it's often hard to believe he has romantic feelings for her, it's hard not to read how he acts generally and his conversation with his father as him being an allegory for a closeted queer boy who doesn't know that boys can kiss boys. And really, even while Mr. Flynn actually presented Julie-Su and Knuckles' relationship in a way that makes more sense where you can tell they care about each other quite a lot, even Flynn Era just before the sgw feels easier to read Knuckles and Julie-Su as platonic soulmates who've formed a strong partnership.
Also this *is* the Echidna that joked in front of a bully of a gorilla (Monk) that he (Monk) probably loves seeing him in the "groveling position"
But I digress.
Post sgw as well, Knuckles also seems to reject the idea that he's dating or even leading on either Rouge or Relic.
Rotor the Walrus:
Gay Ace.
Cobar the Echidna, Tommy Turtle, the events in 25 yrs later or him being roommates with Tommy
His lack of romantic interest most of the time
Honestly even his origin story post sgw read to be a bit like an allegory for being disowned for being queer
Must I say any more?
Bunnie Rabbot:
Bi
I don't have much to say about this other than that she clearly has feelings for Antoine and I always felt she got on with Sally well
Nicole:
Lesbian
The most she ever really shows interest in guys is when she body swaps with Sally and it's implied she felt feelings for Sonic through this. However, she decides to create a body so she can hang out with Sally (and watches the stars with her). She doesn't present romantic feelings for any guys after that either. Even with Shard, I always got the feeling that they became friends because of their similar situation and their status as ais who obtained free will and "humanity" so to speak, but that Shard had a onesided thing for her while she just considered him a good friend.
Tangle the Lemur:
Lesbian
I think what solidified this for me is the difference in how she acts when she meets Sonic for the first time vs how unwell she is about Blaze in that same issue when she first meets Blaze. That and both her initial interest in Whisper and how her relationship with Jewel kind of read like a "best friends who are exes" deal when Jewel first became a character.
Rouge:
AroAcespec
While I do ship her with certain girl characters, she always struck me as the person who likes dressing "sexily" without actually being someone who experiences sexual attraction. Likewise, so much of her flirting reads to me as something she does in service of doing her job or getting things she wants. Especially in IDW, it's more than implied (practically shown) that Rouge is more in love with gems and the master emerald than any one person she flirts with. Honestly, she's the type to end up in situationships
Lanolin the Sheep:
Jury is out. I have no headcanons right now. So far she just seems entirely uninterested in romance or sex and is more married to her job
Silver:
Bi
Blaze:
Also bi
Sally Acorn:
Pre sgw? Bi
Post sgw? Lesbian
Elias Acorn:
I take no criticism on this one. Gay.
Geoffrey St. John:
Bi
Surge the Tenrec:
Surge to me is gay but like. She's gay in that way that anyone attracted to her is gay, and anyone she's attracted to regardless of gender is always in a gay way. Likes a girl? Gay. Likes a guy? Gay. Likes someone of any gender? Gay
Kinda like with Sonic though I also often read her as on the AroAce spectrum, especially since she seems to have no personal interest in romance. Like at best the most passionate she is is the hate she harbors for Sonic, and whatever she has going on with Kit. So like. AroAspec and gay. That's my final answer
Kitsunami the Fennec:
Bi
Vector the Crocodile (Archie):
In all other Sonic media I see him as bi, however
Gay. He tries and fails to prove to Espio that he actually likes women and can get a woman after Espio says he's all bark and no bite. Like sure he takes the service worker lady with him to the event he and the Chaotix were invited to, but he never actually stays with her. He's also one of the two 25 yrs later characters who has a kid but is not married and has no mention of the other biological parent (the other is Lien-da). Literally his son has more charisma and success with picking up girls than him, and Vector doesn't even really seem to like girls (although honestly I'll admit Penders gave *him* more chemistry with Julie-Su than he gave her and Knuckles)
Lien-Da:
AroAce and also more lesbian leaning
Romance and sex is far from anything she worries about or dabbles in, and at best she uses flirting the way Rouge does (empty flirting to get her way or to mess with people). The only reason I said lesbian leaning is because she seems the type to me to end up in situationships/atypical enemy relationships with women
Shadow:
I'm always oscillating between gay and just grayaro/gray ace. Depends on my mood
Robotnik:
Frankly it depends on the adaptation.
Movie!Robotnik I feel is more demi or gray aroace
Sonic X Robotnik is bi to me
Prime universe's Archie Robotnik (this goes for the original and his replacement) is gay while also being on the aroace spectrum to me
But yeah in general Robotnik is on the aroace spectrum and whether I read him as bi or gay depends on the adaptation
Metal Sonic:
Gay
Chaos Sonic:
Also gay!
Shard:
Sorry, but Shard to me likes women the same way Archie Sonic does to me. This is to say, he forms a strong relationship with *one* female character and confuses what they have for romance because comphet. So on the aro/ace spectrum and seems to get into situationships with guys fairly often
Mina the Mongoose:
Bi!
King Max Acorn:
Hoho definitely bi
Locke the Echidna:
I want to say gay but he's like a heavily closeted queer at baseline. His relationship with sexuality is complicated, and while he has been with women before (sexually and romantically), he seems to relate a little to well to Knuckles' plight of not being interested in most girls and thinking guys should just stick with guys. Plus there's that scene where Scourge and Rouge are both surprised that Rouge's flirting and sex appeal isn't really doing anything for Locke.
Like if I had to label him I'd go closeted gay, but I feel like if he ever became comfortable enough to label himself as "not straight" he'd be more comfortable with the term queer or simply "not straight" as a catchall so he can avoid using a usual label
Mighty:
Gay!! This goes no matter the adaptation
Ray:
I have no headcanons other than that he does like boys
Lara-Le:
Bi!
Julie-Su:
Bi, but I also like to think of her as Demi too
Lara-Su:
I take no criticism. Bi
Nic the Weasel:
Gay, man. She and Fiona just had something
Nack the Weasel:
Gay but also married to his job
Bean the Duck:
Bi/Pan
The duck is queer
Bark the Polar Bear:
Bi
Vanilla the Rabbit:
Bi
Charmy the Bee (Archie):
In general I don't have a headcanon for him, just because of how he's depicted in idw and the games these days.
But pre sgw Charmy (back when he was depicted as 16) is either gay or bi depending on how I feel. Not super solid on it, I just know he likes boys.
Fiona the Fox:
I don't take criticism on this one either. Demi Lesbian
I have not once felt that she was genuinely really into a guy romantically. I think she just has a thing for danger and is a sadist in general, and I think she uses both Sonic and Scourge to get her fix for it. But frankly just like Scourge she tends to get bored in the opposite sex, and despite any declaration is liable to split the moment she's in danger. If she has anything for him, it reads as pretty shallow.
Scourge the Hedgehog:
Gay but like extremely comphet about it. Like he seems to be more fixated on the idea of being desired by women and the idea of desiring women than he actually desires them. There's an issue where he grows bored with all the girls in Anti-Mobius (even Anti-Sally) and decides to find Sonic instead to start a fight so he can be no longer bored. The cover of that issue shows all of those hearts with his name + a girl's name written in the middle, AND a heart where he's written his name + Sonic in the middle. Despite having Fiona at his side, he proclaims he actually wants Prime!Sonic to rule beside him with the two of them as Kings. Like he seems to like the attention and seems to understand what an objectively attractive women looks like, but he's always growing bored with them and partnering up with them only to not really have much substance in a relationship with him. And while I will put the disclaimer that Mr. Flynn did not create Scourge's original character, nor does anything he says push or deny ships for legal reasons, he did once say in a bumblekast episode that in a hypothetical "Scourge Team Racing", Scourge would choose Miles and O'knux as his teammates because he "dislikes them the least".
Antoine D'coolette:
Bi!
Antoine's Father:
Bi
Snively:
Absolutely Bi
Clutch the Opposom:
Haha
Gay
Jewel the Beetle:
Lesbian
Whisper the Wolf:
Not completely sure yet. I think I kind of settle on Arospec but likes girls
Sonic (Sonic Prime):
I see him on the aromantic spectrum but also like. Gay
Sonic (StC)
Just straight up gay. At worst he's gay but comphet about it in a similar way to Scourge
Tikal:
Generally she's a lesbian to me
Relic:
Bi but also married to her work
Adam the Ai:
Demi/grayaroace
Espio:
In general he is always gay to me
Chuck Thorndyke:
Bi
Anti-Tails/Miles:
Haha. Gay
Thanks for the ask, anon! I enjoyed answering this one😊
Like I said, this is by no means a comprehensive list, but I did put down some characters from different Sonic media off the top of my head.

I don't care to follow this show closely, but people in tags have been talking about it for weeks. Not surprising that the Ahsoka/Anakin reunion turned out disappointing and devoid of emotional depth, because what did I expect from Filoni and Disney Star Wars after all?
At this point, I just have to ask .... does Filoni know that he's supposed to be writing characters? Like people with personalities? Relationships between people with shared history? Dialogue that sounds natural coming from an individual with a functioning brain? Because we have characters like the live action Ghost Crew who are described as stilted and don't even act like they are close. We have Ahsoka and Luke scenes that feel hollow and tacked on, ("so much like your father" girl explain how something Luke said made you come to that conclusion or was it just for fans to get nostalgic about clone wars?). The last time Anakin and Ahsoka met, he tried to fucking kill her and we would think there would be more of a reaction from this. But no, the focus is on battle scenes and snarky clone wars skits.
Oh my bad, Filoni's target demographic is people weeping over the next cameo and something he poached from Legends. He can probably make something look like a flashy video game cutscene. But more effort is put into showing off choreography and making Ahsoka look like the bland, stoic and bestest OC ever, rather than writing something truly meaningful and it's really obvious.
The problem imo is that the fandom has acted like Filoni shits gold for so long Disney/Filoni has no incentive to improve. Every piece of nostalgia-laden schlock Filoni squeezes out of his butthole is treated as a masterpiece by the majority of the fandom. They have zero incentive to keep making fresh, original things like Mandalorian season 1 or Andor (haven't watched that yet, going by word of mouth) when low-effect TCW fanfiction makes the loudest Star Wars fans cream their pants.
Honestly I think the Ahsoka show is just Filoni playing with his dolls with all the high-end special effects at his disposal and still couldn't make Hera look halfway decent. Tbh I feel a bit bad for all the voice actors and animators who first brought these characters to life and gave them soul now being tossed aside for the new shiny live action versions, just because there's this idea that animation is less prestigious/for kids. Like I'm no fan of Ashley Eckleswhatever but there is no doubt she is dedicated to Ahsoka and the fans and I've heard tons of lovely things about her. Not to mention the Legends authors getting ripped off and no credit for their ideas. (Don't even get me started on Hayden Christensen. Okay, obviously I don't presume to know how he feels, hey if he's happy with this good for him and I 100% support him. But if I starred in the prequels and had my performance constantly mocked and maligned for years, finally returned to Kenobi and had tons of fans now cheering and praising me for an emotional reunion with the character & actor that were the heart of RotS..... I wouldn't exactly be thrilled to lick the orange butthole of some guy's fanfic OC next.)
(Also also I hate the TCW designs. In the 2D Clone Wars Anakin does not wear any armor, which imo much better shows how reckless and borderline arrogant he is about his abilities.)

7 8 10 12 16 17 18 GO MAD WITH POWER
OMG YES THENK YOU (from this ask game)
What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?
Look, I know why you asked this one & I’ll give you the answer you’re expecting, because it’s the truth.
Garak. I used to be much, much more interested in him & now I barely care. It is incredible how different fanon Garak is from canon Garak - he’s almost unrecognisable, in fact - & I’m not sure exactly why people aren’t interested in canon Garak. Do we really need yet another sad old man who did nothing wrong & has bad self-esteem? Why not engage with what the show gave us, which is a torturer who is nostalgic of the days when he had power over people he still thinks of as inferior to him (see the Bajoran conference he goes to, which I am tired of seeing used a funny joke: it isn’t funny), and who has to contend with what he did while living in new circumstances? Isn’t his journey from season 1 Garak to season 7 Garak much more interesting then?
It’s okay to not want to write about some things, for all sorts of reasons. It’s okay. What I find grating is when a general refusal to engage with certain themes ends up twisting a compelling character into a bland cardboard cutout. And it becomes downright offensive when people start joking around about torture or about Garak’s attitude towards Bajorans & the occupation of Bajor. I cannot stress this enough: Garak isn’t a poor smol bean who’s never done anything wrong! He is a dangerous man who is also a bigot & who has done & still does terrible things!
I follow a few people who have takes about Garak that I find genuinely compelling but otherwise I’ve been really put off by the general attitude about him. He is not what fandom makes him out to be. He just isn’t.
I happily rewatch The Wire though. If I pretend I never read any of those posts, I enjoy it immensely.
Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
“Ben Sisko is a difficult character to write”. This is not true. Ben Sisko is as difficult to write as any other character you’ve never written before, & once you sit down & actually do it you’ll find that he’s as easy to write as any other character you’ve learned to write.
Worst part of fanon
The way in which Garashir scenes have been so overinflated that they take up all the space in fanon - which they do not in canon.
I’ll explain. Looking at the fandom (which, because of the sheer size of Garashir, is barely distinguishable from it) you’d think that Garashir interact a lot more than they do. The way people talk about the show warps the actual space Garak & Bashir take up in it, to the point where the inner main cast (which I consider to be Ben Sisko, Kira Nerys & Jadzia Dax) take up an almost secondary role. I’ll point out here that while Alexander Siddig is part of the main cast (Julian Bashir being, to me, part of the outer main cast), Andrew Robinson is a guest star on DS9 & that Garak has less interactions with Bashir than Sisko does. Which - of course he does!
I don’t like the way DS9 has become “the gay lizard show” because it literally isn’t, & I wish that the entire main arcs of the show (Bajor, the Dominion War, the Emissary arc) weren’t completely sidelined by fanon.
I’m thinking of those geography maps where each country’s size is determined by population & where some countries look bloated while others are all tiny and pinched together - that’s what I mean. Some parts of canon (the Garashir parts) are huge in fanon while the rest is all tiny & all but disappears.
the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Amsha Bashir. She is unpopular because people don’t understand her.
AMSHA: You don't know. You've never had a child. You don't know what it's like to watch your son. To watch him fall a little further behind every day. You know he's trying, but something's holding him back. You don't know what it's like to stay up every night worrying that maybe it's your fault. Maybe you did something wrong during the pregnancy, maybe you weren't careful enough, or maybe there's something wrong with you. Maybe you passed on a genetic defect without even knowing it.
AMSHA: No, this is important. You can condemn us for what we did. You can say it's illegal or immoral or whatever you want to say, but you have to understand that we didn't do it because we were ashamed, but because you were our son and we loved you.
I’ve seen a lot of people explain why this is her trying to manipulate Julian or attempting to shift the blame away from herself, but I don’t see why we’re trying so hard to explain why this can’t be what she honestly believes - doesn’t it make sense that she, as a mother, would think this way? React this way? Why can’t this be the truth? Things are complicated. They often are.
By trying to simplify Julian’s feelings about her (because I do think that he genuinely loves his mother!) we’re denying Amsha the space to have conflicted feelings about what she & her husband did & what led them to such drastic action.  Presumably they didn’t just wake up one day & decided to have their son augmented, so how did that happen? How did they hear of it, who helped them organise it, who helped them with the forged school files?
I am not saying that what they did was good. I am saying that Amsha is a more complex character than people give her credit for, & I think it's a shame that a lot of people don't see that.
you can’t understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
Weyoun jokes. Specifically the ones referencing the fact that they’re clones & that imply that they’re basically all interchangeable, & that violence basically has no impact on any of them. I don’t know why people like those posts - they’re gross, they’re always weird, & they’re not even funny! Think about what you’re saying when you reblog/post these!
there should be more of this type of fic/art
There should be more Ben Sisko/Kasidy Yates fic & there should be more Ben Sisko/Kasidy Yates art. These two are a canon couple. There are 98 fics in their AO3 tag. Ben Sisko is the only Trek captain to have gotten married onscreen & yet - but then I suppose, given that out of 12,590 works in the DS9 tag, there are less than 700 works that center a romantic/sexual relationship involving Ben Sisko, the literal main character of the show, it makes sense. *sigh emoji*
it’s absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…
… Bajor. An almost unlimited sandbox in itself because we know next to nothing about it - about its history, its culture(s), its geography, its politics, its language - & yet Bajoran worldbuilding is much harder to come by than Cardassian worldbuilding. Even Bajoran faith(s?) is only sketched out in the show - there is so much to be said here! & so many different ways to go about it. Bajor is one of the show’s main characters!
“Post-Canon Cardassia” is a canonical tag on AO3, but “Post-Canon Bajor” isn’t - typing “post-canon bajor” on AO3 conjures up a grand total of 59 works, against 506 in the “post-canon Cardassia” tag. The prevalence of Garashir fics is probably part of it, but ever since the show aired there seems to have been a bias towards Cardassia among fans (see the producers asking the writers to stop writing episodes about Bajor because they weren’t doing well with the fans). Now, we know that this is a thing & there is an easy way to fix it: get interested in Bajor! Think about it, write about it. You can literally make shit up. It’s fun! I promise!

Hello there wifey 💚💙 Here’s some Jedi ask questions about our favorite Jedi women, enjoy 😘
Ahsoka
1,9,21,50
Barriss
2,38,42,43
Luminara
10, 16, 46, 49
Leia
5, 14, 39, 48
Oooo I love me my Jedi women! I had a blast answering these, thanks wifey! 💙💚
Ahsoka
1.) How did she find her Kyber crystal(s)?
So the first time she had to have had gone with her creche led by Yoda I imagine. I think the Illum cave would only show her the Kyber after she learned to slow down and not let her anxieties rush her. I say this because this is a consistent issue for early seasons Ahsoka where she is very impulsive.
For her second Kyber crystal, she had to have gone to Illum with Anakin. I think Ahsoka did not expect to need another crystal because I feel like it was Anakin's observation as a teacher that she was best suited to Jar Kai (dual wielding). It is possible Ahsoka became insecure at her Master deciding she needed a second blade like maybe she wasn't doing good enough with one even though that's not at all what he meant. So I feel like the crystal would present itself to her when she learns to accept that it's ok to use a different style than is the most common and traditional. That she isn't any less a skilled Jedi because she is better with two lightsabers (which would mean a lot to me personally as someone who always needed extra help in school).
9.) Their favorite memory with their Master
I feel like her favorite memory with Anakin would be anytime he teaches her about mechanics given she's mentioned it a few times in Clone Wars namely when she fixes her comm on Geonosis.
I chose this because given what we learned in Tales of the Jedi of how Anakin trained her, these memories of combat training may be confusing and stressful. She probably would turn to a different activity they did together for good memories.
I feel like she also gets nostalgic just remembering when Anakin and Obi Wan bickered like siblings while she just rolled her eyes.
21.) Their greatest challenge
Ahsoka in my opinion really really desperately needs to work on letting go of her guilt and insecurities. She has a tendency to feel responsible for things beyond her control which really gets out of control with Darth Vader.
She just never feels good enough and questions every decision she makes and that only gets worse when she realizes the man who taught her turned to the dark side.
50.) Something in canon about them you reject
The Ahsoka show so far. I'm sorry but I just don't like story or the interpretation of her character at that point in time. She just doesn't feel the same to me anymore. She feels so watered down and just not how the Ahsoka from Clone Wars and even Rebels would act.
Barriss
2.) Why did she build her lightsaber hilt the way she did?
Barriss's hilt is pretty simple so I feel like she built it for practicality. Plus as a healer, she isnt one for fighting so she wouldnt put as much thought into a weapon. There are some similiarities to Luminara's lightsaber so that's definitely a tribute. I also notice that the metal of saber isnt as shiny as most lightsabers. Maybe it's for stealth, or maybe it's a lighter metal to carry, possibly native to her planet if we wanna get sentimental.
Her blade would be blue because Barriss's number one priority is to protect above all. I just love how her lightsaber hilt looks because it's so symmetrical and seems pleasant and easy to hold. The bit of gold at the top is just enough to make it stand out and a lovely tribute to her Master.
These pics are from the lightsaber books which helped inform my opinion given when I google it, her saber looks different depending on what comes up. I also like how it describes her hilt in the end of the paragraph:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
38.) Their favorite place in the Jedi Temple
The archives cuz she's a nerd 🤣 seriously though, I think reading and learning stimulates her in a way she needs and is a comfort for her when she's anxious.
42.) What's something she'll never forget?
Sorry for the angst but the Geonosis Arena. That changed everything for her. She saw so many fellow Jedi killed and that was so traumatizing for her, she just couldn't be on the battle field again for a long while according to the canon short story.
The happier answer is Luminara just being the bestest Master and also the moment she realized she has feelings for Ahsoka.
43.) If she could talk to any deceased Jedi, who would it be and why?
I'm gonna give the obvious answer with Luminara and I feel like she would need to say everything she wish she could have told her when she was alive. Especially to free Luminara from any sense of guilt she may have regarding how the war affected Barriss.
Luminara
10.) Her favorite memory with her Padawan
I think it would be watching Barriss build her lightsaber like in the 2003 series. She would be so proud of Barriss I know it.
I also think there are many moments in The Approaching Storm of watching Barriss just having fun. I think she and Anakin basically have a splash fight in a river. Also Luminara would definitely be so proud of Barriss's lightsaber dance. I can see her looking back on these memories after the Clone Wars began wishing it were like that again.
16.) Who are her best friends and how did she meet them?
Obi Wan and Quinlan since I think they're close in age. They'd meet as young Padawans maybe sparring. She probably bested Obi Wan and he was just all blushy which Quinlan def teased him for. They probably got in trouble together all the time. Or maybe as 8 year olds, Quinlan dared Lumi to kiss Obi Wan leaving the poor boy all blushy and tripping over himself 🤣
46.) Your favorite headcanon about her
That she hates Ventress with unreasonable fury 🤣 also that she and Obi Wan are in love and she was a naughtier Padawan.
The reason for that last bit is I headcanon Katri to be her first Master but she sadly was killed as we saw in Tales of the Jedi while Luminara would still be pretty young so she'd probably struggle with that grief. It's also why I feel like Dooku might have a soft spot for Luminara because he respected her Master and avenged her. But I feel like Luminara had to have struggled with the dark side as a teenager as a result of all this.
49.) Her greatest moment
That one bit in a comic where she kicks a pebble at a giant and it knocks him the fuck out looking like she just doesn't have time for this nonsense 🤣
Onscreen, I'd say in Cloak of Darkness, when she was willing to admit she made a mistake about Ventress to Ahsoka. It's so rare to see authority figures be so humble and admit a mistake. It really shows how wonderful and kind and soft she is. It shows why she is to me one of the greatest Jedi.
Leia
5.) Her favorite thing about being a Jedi
Being a Jedi would feel like coming home for Leia. Because she has always felt the Force though she didn't know it. Being a Jedi would feel like reuniting with an old childhood friend. It would remind her of how Bail and Breha raised her to be kind and never let cruelty prevail.
14.) How does she like to meditate?
I feel like she'd prefer isolation. I think she'd levitate because we see Rey doing that so I imagined she learned it from her. I think Leia would also meditate while holding onto a trinket from Alderaan because she'd need something to fidget with. And as a woman of action, meditating would be hard for her so she'd need an object to take out any energy with.
39.) If she were to enter an ancient temple, what would she see?
Since ancient temples love to fuck with Force sensitives, Leia would probably see Darth Vader morphing between that form and Anakin since I feel like he's her worst nightmare. She's afraid if she has any bit of him in her because of genetics so he'd taunt her abt that.
48.) A crack headcanon about her
Leia has the biggest potty mouth and it's a fucking problem. She has def slipped some cuss words in places she REALLY should not. Yes she has all the royal and political training but piss her off enough and the entire senate will hear exactly how she feels. Tarkin has def been at the recieving end of it and she has been suspended as a result.
The only reason Leia keep C3PO around is that she needs him to do her hair. All those fancy updoes? Yeah she never had to do them a day in her life but she does want to look her best so she keeps his annoying metal ass around. Eventually though, it's Han who does her hair for her and 3PO is just there for... tradition? Maybe translation abilities 🤣

After a few grueling days, Eli wasn’t the only one relieved to have a day with no drone activity. When Troy and Angel said they’d take tower watch duty tonight, he didn’t argue for once. A little rest and, if lucky, some time with Zoe sounded far too appealing.
He was coming to know her better each day, so he knew exactly where to look for her. At the end of a long corridor, he saw a gentle glow from the door of a tiny room Zoe had converted into a makeshift library.   That was all the confirmation he needed that she was inside.
There he found her, nestled in the corner of an old sofa he had helped her move to the room just last week. Always cold, she was wrapped in a blanket, even though the fire was burning bright. Of course, there was a book n her hands, and it had her so engrossed that she didn’t realize he had walked in.   But she snuggled close with a content smile when he claimed the spot beside her, wrapping his arms around her waist and settling his chin over her shoulder. It had taken Eli some time to become comfortable with such acts of affection, and she never took them for granted.
“You’re here!” she exclaimed, turning to kiss his cheek. “How did you know where to find me?”
“Lucky guess,” he half smiled. “Troy and Angel took tower duty tonight, so you’re stuck with me… if you like.”
“Of course I do! What would you like to do?”
“You seem pretty happy here. So why don’t I rest here for a bit while you read.”
“I’d like that,” she said, holding up the book to show Eli. “I found this in the stack of books in the basement.”
“Holiday Celebrations?”
“Yes, it’s so cool! It talks about the origins of each holiday people used to celebrate in the past, then offers some traditions surrounding them.”
“You are obsessed with the old world, Zo,” he smirked.
“A little,” she smiled, “It makes me feel a connection to my fathers, and I just wish I had more memories of it. My family celebrated some of these, and I’d love to incorporate some here at Olympus. Things like this give everyone something to look forward to and establish a sense of community.”
“I agree. The Autumn Festival was a big hit, especially with the kids. What ones do you want to add?”
“I’m not sure. Maybe you can help me,” she said, moving to his lap to look at the book together. “Do you remember celebrating any of these before the end came?”
Eli thumbed through the pages, a nostalgic look on his face. “We celebrated most before the outbreak, and my Mom went out of her way to keep some traditions alive after. It wasn’t exactly the same, but in a way, they were even more special because she tried so hard. Did you celebrate any holidays at The Tower?”
“Not really. We got to select a treat at the commissary on our birthdays, and since I was friends with Troy, he’d always managed to sneak a few extra for my birthday and Ana’s. We also had Founders Day, which was basically a parade and a tribute to Blackstock. Outside of that, we didn’t celebrate.”
“Well, now you can create whatever you want. Are there any you’re thinking of?”
“I was looking at this one,” she pointed to the center of the page where the word Thanksgiving was printed in fancy script. “Did you celebrate this with your family?”
Eli’s lips twisted. “Yes and no. We celebrated it, but it wasn’t my father’s favorite. If it were up to him, we would have skipped it. But he knew it meant a lot to my mom, so he went along with it.”
“Really? What’s not to like? It seems like it was all about good food and expressing gratitude. That sounds like the perfect holiday to me.”
“Those parts were nice, but like many things in the old world, the story behind it wasn’t exactly truthful.”
“How so?”
“The popular story was Pilgrims landed in America and were met by friendly Indians who taught them how to live in this new place. They were said to offer them a feast where they sat down together. After that, if we’re to believe the fables, the Indians just disappeared, handing their land over to the colonists to create some wonderful nation. Each year our school would have a pageant where children would dress as pilgrims and Indians. Everything was so friendly… and bloodless… but that’s not what happened.”
“What did happen?”
“From what I remember, one of the tribal leaders did approach the pilgrims to form an alliance, but his motivation was to keep a warring tribe at bay. The agreement wasn’t exactly amicable, and in time, tensions arose to the point the tribe went to war with the colonists. It was one of the bloodiest wars in early American history, hundreds of natives were killed, and the power was forever in the hands of the colonists after that.”
“That’s horrible! And nothing like the story in this book. How did you learn about it?”
“Books like this, and even our textbooks in school, told a sanitized version of history. I was lucky to have parents who told us the truth and made us question what was presented to us, and they taught us to think.”
“So, then why did  your mom want to celebrate?”
Eli shrugged. “She just saw it as a day when the family got together to share a great meal – you can’t imagine the food we had! Then we’d go around the table and say what we were thankful for and spend time together after. It was nice. It had nothing to do with the original story, so she wanted to keep the tradition alive.”
“Did that make your father mad?”
“No,” he smiled with a faraway look in his eyes. “My parents were a team, and they knew how to compromise. David and I didn’t participate in the Thanksgiving pageants at school, to us, it was just a special day with our family.”
“That’s what I’d like to bring here to Olympus.”
“I think you can,” Eli offered. “We can do it in our own way… call it a day of gratitude, and there doesn’t have to be any more to it.”
“I like that. Do you think we can do it soon?”
“Yes, with winter coming, we should, before the food supply becomes scarce.”
“I love the idea!” She beamed. “I’m going to start making lists of the things I’m grateful for, and I want to say something nice about everyone.”
Eli sighed deeply, causing Zoe to ask what was wrong. “Does this mean I have to say something nice about Troy?”
“Eli Sipes,” she smirked. “Are you telling me you have nothing nice to say about him?”
“I’m just joking,” Eli laughed. “Troy’s great; just don’t tell him I said that. But even if he and I didn’t get along, I’d always be grateful for all he’s done for you.”
“Awww. You’re incredible. And you know what?”
“What?”
“When I list things I’m grateful for, you will be at the top of my list.”
“I’m number one, eh?” He teased.
“Yep. You are.”
“That’s a coincidence because you’ll be number one on my list too.”
“I am?”  Zoe smiled.
“You are.”
“I’m so glad I have you to help create our new world, Eli. I’m not saying we’re your parents, but I think we make a great team as well.”
“We do,” he smiled, cupping her cheek in his hand. She could see the emotion on his face. “I imagine we’re a lot like them when they first started out, and I know that would make them so happy.”
“It would make Ana happy, and I’m sure my dads, too. I just wish they were all here to see it.”
“They know. I have to believe they know.”
“Then we need to get this celebration underway, Mr. Sipes. Because no matter what troubles we face, we still have so much to be grateful for.”

In a world where things do not go quite as wrong, I feel like Erica ends up getting invited back to play with the Hellfire Club on more than one occasion, much to Lucas's chagrin. She's a good player, a skilled tactician, and seems to have better luck on high stakes rolls than anyone else.
She's also the only member who absolutely refuses to be impressed by Eddie in any capacity, and unbeknownst to the others, that's half the reason he keeps inviting her back. Like, the Lord of Hellfire persona is one hundred percent meant to awe/perhaps-slightly-intimidate both his friends and his freshmen, and theoretically the fact that it means nothing to this kid should be annoying- but in practice he finds her anti-authority streak both really funny, and highly relatable. He's been mouthing off to people trying to intimidate him since he was still short enough to get beaten up for it. Erica Sinclair looking him dead in the eye from the nearly-two-foot height difference between them and calling him a long haired freak to his face is almost enough to make him nostalgic. Eleven year old Eddie would've done the same thing.
So Erica keeps coming back because she's the only person bold enough to check him, and that's funny until he remembers that her calling out things his other minions wouldn't acknowledge doesn't just apply to D&D.
They're setting up for a session one evening, Mike and Jeff BOTH running late, which puts them behind schedule a little bit. Traditionally, this lack of punctuality would have Eddie royally pissed off. Gareth's been waiting on the start of one of his usual tirades promising dire consequences for late PCs- but tonight Eddie seems... oddly unbothered. He hasn't even mentioned it.
It's possible he's just trying to psych them all out. Lulling the party into a false sense of security by feigning indifference before busting out some truly horrifying encounters mid-session does sound like an Eddie move. But if the peace is an act, it's a pretty convincing one. He's setting his notes up behind the board, seemingly unaware of the club members waiting for the other shoe to drop, and humming something absentmindedly to himself.
Gareth squints, trying to place the melody. He's overheard Eddie humming that song a lot lately, and while it's definitely familiar, he can't quite remember what it is. He's pretty sure it's Sabbath, but whichever song it is, it's not on any of their setlists for CC.
It's at this point that Sinclair's younger sister abruptly looks up from her character sheet with an eye roll worthy of the greats and asks:
"The cheerleader AGAIN?"
Eddie goes still.
"What cheerleader?" Henderson asks, nonplussed. It sounds like nonsense, except that Gareth can tell from the way Eddie's staring down the deeply unimpressed middle schooler across the table that it definitely means something to him, and that he wasn't aware anyone else knew about it.
"The cheerleader who keeps finding excuses to come see him," she points at Eddie, who is now shooting her the kind of silencing glare that would melt anyone else's head. "God knows why. Doesn't she have any hobbies? It feels like any time I'm here a minute before the session or spend two seconds coming back to grab something after it's over, I'm risking walking in on you two doing that dumb thing where you each pretend you're not staring at each other-"
"Who?" Sinclair asks, looking torn between stopping his sister from provoking the DM into a preemptive Total Party Kill and figuring out what the fuck she's talking about.
"I don't know," the kid makes a face like expecting her to remember the names of people she doesn't particularly know or care about is asking far too much of her. "Blonde? Short? Used to date your loser friend?"
"Which loser friend?" Henderson asks, intrigued, and Gareth can SEE Eddie deciding which character is going to be first to die after Lady Applejack. Violently.
"The annoying one from the basketball team," Sinclair the Younger clarifies dismissively, and Gareth feels his jaw drop as he suddenly understands exactly who she's talking about.
"Chrissy?" Sinclair asks, sounding almost as flabbergasted as Gareth feels right now. She can't be serious. "Are you talking about Chrissy Cunningham?"
"Don't know," his sister rolls her eyes again. "Don't care. All I know is that every time she comes by to see him, he'll be humming that same stupid song over and over again afterwards until I'm ready to blow my brains out. EVERY time. You know you can mix it up a little, right?"
This last comment is directed at Eddie, and is followed by the kind of silence that occurs when people are too afraid to breathe. Gareth carefully makes sure to be looking at his character sheet and nothing else.
"You know," Eddie says finally in a voice as cold as the grave and promising suffering. "Harassing your DM tends to end in permanent death for your character."
"Take your best fucking shot," Erica says sweetly.
Jeff and Wheeler suddenly crash in through the door at the same time, talking over one another as they both try to apologize for being late. Eddie turns his attention to them, and everyone present for the previous discussion abruptly busies themself with any possible distraction.
As Gareth sorts through his dice for whichever set seems most likely to keep him alive during what's looking to be a very brief and bloody campaign, the name of the song Eddie's apparently had in his head on repeat abruptly hits him, and he goes into a brief coughing fit trying to stifle surprised laughter.
Eddie's been humming Sabbra Cadabra.

WOE ASK BE UPON YE..
for ignazio........🍋🍎🍾🍕
for aewryn..........🍍🌽🍪🍒
Ignazio
🍋: What is your OC's most painful memory?
There are huge chunks of their backstory I still haven't touched but intend to get to at some point, but so far I think it would be whatever led to them being raised by a family friend. Maybe his family died of a preventable (if they had the money) illness and they were the only one spared? I'm not sure on that one yet, but I one thing set in stone that could be the answer to this question would be her memory with their childhood friend that they grew apart from. They were promised that they'd always be friends, but eventually said friend dumped him once he grew popular and eventually bullied them for being worse at singing than he was. Led to an inferiority complex which eventually they will heal from, with Aerwyn's help.
🍎: Do they share any features or traits with any family members?
Uhhh, her beautymark? Probably an affinity for stealth? Pessimistic outlook on life? Idk yet, haven't thought too much about what his family would be like... They had a sister, that's all I know.
🍾: Does your OC believe in luck? If so, do they have any charm or ritual they do before a stressful event?
He was a devout follower of Calistria before becoming Aerwyn's herald. Well, he still is, but obviously as Aerwyn's herald he's devoted more of his time now to them instead of Calistria.
In honor of both, he uh, spends some "alone time" with Aerwyn before a dangerous job. Calistria is a goddess of lust, after all. (Thanks for the idea, @ritunn! hehe)
🍕: How does an OC spend a lazy day?
Probably drinking and shooting the shit with Andrés, the guy who raised him after his family died. He's also the guild master of the Oilbird's Nest. That or loafing around in the forest with Aerwyn.
Aewryn
🍍: Where does your OC feel most comfortable?
In their dreamscape! While it can take whatever shape she wants it to, her favorite that she keeps coming back to is a tiny island in the middle of an ocean with white sand beaches, and the sort of buildings you would find in Santorini. She even has her own house in it with a combination bedroom/sensory room. It's really empty as Aerwyn just wants it all to herself and would rather not have to imagine what people living there with her would be like. It's like that first episode of the Twilight Zone where there's signs of people being there, just no actual people. She's usually the only one who gets to see it, but Ignazio gets special privilege access as her Herald. Also because he's a lucid dreamer and he gets to do what he wants in her dreams. The first time he stumbles into it (completely on accident) she chases him with a broom as she's spooked by the situation.
🌽: How does this OC feel about acts of affection? What's their favourite act of affection, physical or emotional?
Absolutely loves it!
Has always and will always love getting a head massage. A good ol' head scritch is nice, too!
🍪: What is something that's sentimental to your OC?
Aerwyn has a soft spot for foxes, and they love her, but she can't figure out why they give her such a nostalgic feeling.
If, by some miracle, they ever reunited with whoever Fia's soul reincarnated into...
"I may have been Caelyn then, but I'm someone entirely different now. That's Caelyn's love, not mine. ...I'm sorry."
🍒: Has Your OC had their first kiss yet? If so, with who?
Absolutely has. Both as Caelyn and in most, if not all, incarnations. Surprisingly Caelyn's first kiss was *not* Fia, Just some random character I don't care to ever establish.

What are ur issues w Hulu Futurama?
tbh when it was announced i did have excitement in me about my number one show ever returning, but then i remembered all the bullshit that i hated in the cc run and i was just immediately skeptical and for good reason bc i am usually right. i will say that i rly am a fry/leela as characters and as a couple girlie so i am being insanely biased (my man stays dragging me saying i need to put more energy into other aspects of the show lol) but i do like other characters if the show cares about them. but that's the main issue with this revamp. the show put care into literally EVERYONE except fry and leela who are the MAIN characters. (i do think a lot of the weird "there's no main character" kinda stuff was due to bendergate - and yes i am annoyed that dimaggio allegedly has billing over billy who plays the LEAD as well as two other main characters - but it's also strange that w all that fuss, even if it was just for publicity which i doubt at this point, that bender didn't rly do all that much either?) i started noticing like two series rewatches ago that as we get later into the series, we get more planet express crew centric episodes rather than fry/leela/bender episodes, and i'm fine with that for the most part bc i adore amy and hermes, but it feels weird that they kept so much of the vibe of the cc stuff in the show considering how much most people despise those seasons.
to answer simply, almost every episode was either bad, boring, far too fanservicey (looking at you pointless parasites lost "sequel" bc how dare u shit on that episode's legacy so fucking badly), or just forgettable. the episodes i genuinely liked were children of a lesser bog, related to items you've viewed and i know what you did less xmas. i found all of those to be enjoyable and everything else to be complete and utter shit. COALB honestly surprised me bc i have never cared about kif/amy bc the show didn't rly ever care about them (always felt soooo bad for their shippers w the zapp shit and then the bender shit), and i rly rly like that they did a major status quo shift by letting them have children and actually letting those children be a part of the cast. lauren tom is mother and she killed that episode and i am so happy for her that they allowed her to show her acting chops bc i think her line delivery is insanely underrated in general. (off topic but anyone complaining ab them switching leo's voice actor to an asian man needs to grow up, that should've been the case from day one.) i knew i would enjoy RTIYV bc it was a freela status quo shift but i actually also really enjoyed the momazon plot and found it amusing/funny. very very odd that there wasn't any~major freela moments in their ONE focused episode, but w/e. it's a mixed bag bc i also would've literally died for the cc seasons to give us background stuff w them. i do love that they kind of threw back to the fry/leela/bender days with this, it felt nice and nostalgic. the xmas episode was GREAT esp bc i always hate the xmas episodes (the first one has a special place in my heart bc you're lonely and i'm lonely but together we're lonely together <3), it was so fun getting to see everyone as a family (SO happy they're acknowledging dwight and cubert exist again even tho canonically they should be grown men by now lmao) and the bender/zoidberg stuff was surprisingly sweet (honestly when they give zoidberg an ep where he bonds w any of the pe crew it's enjoyable, the hermes episode was good, the professor episode was good, now this episode is good)
now to get to my issues. i don't want to say that they shouldn't have listened to fans and given us what we want to see, but i feel like there was so much weird shit that no one was asking for? parasites regained is the most egregious example bc who tf was like "omg we need to see the worms again but this time in a gross out potty humor episode!" no one. they need to STOP with bringing back every fucking character too, like barbados slim is a good example of this. he's been used so sparingly that he is pretty loved in the fandom, but w them making hermes/labarbara an actual stable relationship (a good thing that they then immediately ruined for jokes no one finds all that funny) it was SO weird and annoying for them to play back into the "haha labarbara is cheating on hermes!" schtick again. why was the whale biologist back? why was the time machine brought back?! like i know i said i liked the xmas episode but certain things are just so iconic to the show that they need to remain untouched. pissed me off. why can't they give us shit we actually want to see? robot devil song and dance number. zoidberg/marianne (just give her another fucking voice actor if they can't get emilia clarke jfc). hedonismbot as long as he's not overused and just given a few one-off lines (did we even see him????) hmmm idk the main thing a HUGE majority of fans have been asking for for twenty fucking years in a SEQUEL TO THE WHY OF FRY????
also did anyone think it was odd how after the cc seasons cramming zapp down our throats every other episode we barely saw him?? even in COALB he was kind of irrelevant. my guess would be they didn't want to over exert billy but the professor had a ton to do so ???
there's so much else that i could probably complain about and go into but i will leave it at this: i do not like the cc seasons BUT i am glad they exist bc of the late philip j fry which is not just a perfect episode of futurama, it's a perfect episode of television. until the hulu seasons give me a TLPJF than they don't have a reason to exist. this sadly just felt like a money grab and yes, i will admit that there were good moments/episodes but as a whole, it did not need to come back. i'm hoping they're saving the masterful writing that i KNOW they can do for the next season (look at season 4! banger after banger. kif gets knocked up a notch, jurassic bark, the why of fry, the sting, the farnsworth parabox. three hundred big boys, the devil's hands are idle playthings) but tbh i feel like that fire/spark is just gone from the production team.
