Moving (무빙) K-drama ep 1-15, thoughts
[ SPOILER FREE ]
I'm not the kind of person who likes superhero stuff because I find that it follows a formula that doesn't focus very much on my favorite thing: Character Development. AND it is about as far away from my favorite genre: Slice-of-life that it can get.
But Moving (무빙) is different!
First a side note: A while back there was a tumblr post about how much it would be fun to make a show/fic about captain america getting a new dog (or something like that) and I remember thinking "WOW if superhero movies/dramas were more like this, I'd be 100% game." (if you know that post, send it to me??)
Tumblr media
The creators of Moving took NOTES y'all.
Yes, it's gritty, has a lot of violent action scenes (I'm a fast forwarder don't @ me ;-) and an over-arching villain plot but it's so much more than that!
Moving focuses on the humanity of dealing with super powers, growing up with them, having to hide your talents while not being 100% isolated from friends and family. The Trauma, The Comfort Healing. It's freakin' TOUCHING ok? I'm in love with literally every couple, and every person on their own has things to overcome and room to grow. There's so much softness and love and friendship-- I just haven't seen a drama recently that has me caring about every single person??
Tumblr media
Now, we are at episode 15 tho.
This is where I get nervous because if a kdrama is going to make a left turn off a cliff, it happens right about now. The last quarter is where the writers decide we need way more action and villain than we need all of the things that make Moving special (think about how many dramas you've seen where all of a sudden there is a stalker plotline, or a murder, or a kidnapping at the very end for no reason at all?).
Tumblr media
I'm just anxious that my 10/10 drama is going to fall apart even though so far it's like, perfect? But fingers crossed!!
Moving: FIGHTING! (but like in a slice-of-life way, not in an actual fighting way :P )

7th time loop Light Novel review (5 Novels)
So a few days ago I finished the 5. Light Novel of 7th time Loop in one day. (Was it shorter or was I just faster? ^^') And I have decided, after 5 "books" it is about time to write an review about them.
Interview style of course, so here we go:
(OBVIOUSLY SPOILER!)
How come you've decided to read the light novels? You do not exactly like to read. That is correct. Aside from some Fanfiktion here and there and the storys (and books) of my friends I usually am not a big reader. But I found the Anime of 7th time loop intriguing for some reason and needed to know more than the Anime provided me with. I also really liked the concept. Isekai is nothing knew these days. Some people even get reborn as slimes or vending machines it seems XD And honestly, after a while it really got boring. So I honestly wasn't expecting much, aside from a good lovestory. But that is exactly the point. This is the 7th time that Rishe got reborn and she always restarts her live at the same point and despite that, 7th time loop doesn't focus on the WHY at all. While it gets mentioned briefly that Rishe is wondering why and why always at that point in her life, it doesn't turn out to be her focus at all. We do not try to figure out what she has to do to stop or continue the loop - depending on what she would rather prefer after this life - we focus on an entirely different thing. And its fascinatingly selfless. In her previous lives, Rishe focused on learning new things, making experiences a young daughter of a duke normally wouldn't make. All things that hell her out in her 7th loop, but instead of focusing on learning more no skills, she hones her previous skills while trying to protect the world and the people she come to care for... which soon enough includes Arnold. And while Rishe actually wants to life a lazy carefree life, especially since she doesn't know if she will have a long life this time, all she does is trying to prevent a war and eventually save Arnold from himself, even tho the price could be her own life once more and despite the fact that she is well aware that she can not count on the possibility of another chance. I found that thrilling and intriguing and with the promise of a certainly more than interesting lovestory, I just wanted to know all the things the Novels could show me and the Anime couldn't. So after 3 Episodes or so, I've decided to read the first light novel and couldn't stop afterwards.
2. Is it easy to read for someone who isn't the biggest fan of reading?
It is. It really is light, if you know what I mean. The plot isn't too heavy. The chapters are relatively short. And why the novels don't shy away from describing thoughts or feelings, or even clothes, places and objects, it also doesn't spend hours on it. It also doesn't give you too much information at once. Or has too many plot strings to follow. Every Novel focuses on only a relatively small amount of new people and most of the people from the previous novels are either not in it or hardly mentioned. So you have time to get to know the characters (as I am sure we will see them all again) but we finish their plotline (mostly) in one book and then more on to other characters with their plotline which we also finish in one book and move on to the next, while of course Rishes and Arnolds story moves on constantly and only ever so slightly intervines with the other characters story for as much and as long as is it necessary. Obviously... if you like heavy plots with lots of characters and intervening plot-threats and big descriptions and a huge ass world, then this is not a book for you, that much is for sure. But its a light novel and as such it feels like... how to describe it? I feel like a light Novel is a snack. Something that doesn't satisfy you for to long. But its nice and tastes good. A book is more like a big meal with a heavy dessert. It satisfies you much longer, but it also takes longer to eat and to digest. For someone who isn't a good reader, a light novel is perfect. Small. Fast. Nice. And doesn't ask to much of you as a reader. But I really think light novels are only meant for lovestorys and the likes, that don't focus on heavy things. But as I like lovestorys, that is more than fine for me.
3. So how is the lovestory betwen Rishe and Arnold?
Until book 5, I honestly would have described it as a story between a man who needed love and thought he would neither get nor deserve it and a woman who has so much love to give but never had the chance to do that before. Surrounded by a lot of complicated circumstances that funnily enough, get them only closer together on the long run. But the 5. light novel ruined that a bit for me.
Rishe always questioned Arnolds intentions. He saw her jumping from the balcony and the asked her to marry him after seeing how she would react if he would try to attack her with a sword. He insisted he fell in love with her and I wanted to hard to just believe that. I wanted to believe that a woman that was so strong and independent and full of surprises was something that just mesmerized Arnold so much that he thought: "If I ever want to marry someone than it would be someone like her... NO! It would be her! She is the one!" But after book 5 I feel like I was fooling myself.
I do believe that Arnold knew that what he needed for his plans (whatever they are...) was a woman like Rishe. Strong. Independent. Self-sufficient. Doesn't care about if something she does is ladylike. And able to protect herself. And that is why he pursued her to begin with. I do also believe without a shred of doubt that he did eventually fall in love with her head over heels. Likely also faster than he himself would have expected - even if he felt affection for Rishe from the start and did think he might actually really fell a bit for her at first sight. What you can see in the first Novel especially is that at first, Arnold wants her to believe the awful rumors he has spread about himself. Going as far as putting a hand on her throat and letting her know that he could kill her whenever he wants and that she should be wary of him because he is scary and dangerous and a murderous monster. (Bad for him that at this point, his affection for Rishe had already one over and allowed her to look past his pretense...) In fith Novel, when Rishe mentions that she would be fine, even if someday he kills her, he basically forbids her to say something like that ever again. He is too far gone to allow her to think that he would ever do anything like that to her. All the while, plotting something in the background that has something to do with her. So while I do believe that he absolutely loves Rishe dearly and deeply, I came to the conclusion that whatever he had planned at the start, when he proposed to her, is still in motion and that eventually, he will end up using her for something and possibly hurting her feelings in the process because it won't be something small. I am almost certain at this point that we will have a big fallout eventually. And it won't be pretty. (Lets hope don't do it like another Light Novel that had the character have a fight and only patch things up again like 4 Novels later...) I think the biggest hint for that isn't even Raul who who is ordered to hide something from Rishe, even with lies, while he shows up often enough close to her to wonder if his job is to spy on her (and certainly not just for protection) or the fact that he revealed that Arnold indulging Rishe in book 5 was all just a pretends and actually part of a plan that was supposed to give him some sort of information. That he wanted to figure something out. And with the situation at hand, it feels like he wanted to figure something out about Rishe. And while Rishe didn't think much of the facts that she figured out that all the things Arnold seemingly did for her, ended up having ulterior motives, I do not think this will keep on going so well forever. Rishe is selfless enough to understand Arnold reasons behind most of his actions and likely didn't even truly suspect he did them for her, but for me as a reader it actually hurt. He did of course some things for and with her that didn't have ulterior motives and that did show that he loves and cares about her. But there is something dark going on behind the scenes and I do not like it at all.
If we talk about Rishe... I found it fascinating, to say the least, that in her 6 lives, she never once experienced love. She is really naive in that regard too. But I guess one can easily forget with all the life experience she has, that she is only 15 and that it does make sense that given her life until the loops started had better things for her in store than love. However, it, of course, is also romantic to think that she was always meant to only fall in love with prince Arnold (even tho its ruined by Rishe just slightly mentioning that Arnold seemed awfully experienced in kissing - and even with the ongoing theory that Arnold himself is stuck in that freaking loop, we know every well it has never before been Rishe that he kissed... damn that 5th Novel. It ruined a lot of the lovestory for me... while still keeping me hooked on it with that kind of ending...) and thus experienced love only in the one loop, were she ended up being his fiancee. Anyway, while sometimes naive girls can be immensely annoying, when it comes to lovestorys. Rishes way of being naive is realistic enough to be okay. We can not forget that Arnold killed her in her previous life and that he had been a monster in all her previous lives, even tho they only ever somewhat "met" in one other life. So assuming that Arnold is not in love with her makes a lot of sense for her. Taking 5 books to get that she herself is in love with him... is a bit of a different story. But once again, she is only 15, has never experienced love before, Arnold has somewhat questionable ways to show his love sometimes (especially in the beginning) and given how much is going on around Rishe, I guess one can forgive her that she is a bit slow regarding the matter XD
Despite the little "mishaps" regarding my trust in Arnold in novel 5, I still love their lovestory and I love how it slowly but surely grows to be more. Ever Novel seems to be a step in the right direction - tho I wish we would finally get to that damn wedding already XD I also do not give up on the lovestory itself as I know that Arnold truly loves Rishe and that she loves him too, I know no matter what kind of stupid thing Arnold is doing, eventually, they will find their way back to each other. They are meant to be, I am sure of it. I guess its just getting to comfortable at this point, for a series that is supposed to keep the readers hooked. We've been at the point were Arnold refuses even the idea of killing Rishe, despite his best affords to look bad in her eyes at first and Rishe herself finally understood that she is in love with Arnold. Give us some lovers bliss in the next Novel and we are surely running into some drama and heartbreak soon. Its bound to happen. (And I am going to be furious about it XD)
4. Your favorite moments so far?
I loved the Kiss in the church. It was... like... you could feel it coming. But it was still so unexpected given how early it was. I loved the proposal scene with the ring. When he was going down on one knee I was like: "OMG! HE EVEN WENT DOWN ON ONE KNEE!" This is like... THE thing in a romance, if you ask me XD I love every time they oh-so-innocently share a bed. It gives a feeling of domestic bliss. I love every time they protect each other. It was especially hilarious when Rishe was hit with this poison Arrow and she wanted Arnold to drink the antidote because he sucked the poison out of her wound, even tho she was the one who got it directly into her blood and I squealed like an idiot when Arnold had enough of it and just gave it to her mouth to mouth XD The recent scene in the castle grounds with Arnolds father is one of my absolut favorites tho. Imagine them "fake" making out against a tree. It was great. But the kisses from the Epilogue were just the most perfect scene for me so far. How Rishe just wanted to "learn" to get used to it and Arnold had a hard time holding back. Chef kiss. Absolutely perfect!
5. All that previously mentioned stuff aside... what is something you wonder about for future Novels?
Honestly? "Will these two ever have sex?" is a question always on my mind XD I think one can tell that Arnold does want her, but he respects her boundaries way too much to initiate anything if she isn't asking for it and he already revealed that even when they are married, he will not take advantage for her. And don't get me wrong. That is per see a good thing. But I feel like with Rishe, who gets so embarrassed by every small touch, they will probably never end up making babys XD Granted, that is likely neither his nor her goal - but it is always mine ;P But seriously. Those kiss-scenes in novel 5 were a huge step for them but it was initiated by Rishe. And Arnold would not have done it if not sure she really wanted it, he even asked if she was sure, as he saw her shivering. And if there isn't some miracle. She will never allow them to cross the belt-line if you get me and while I do know we will not read much about it (so that isn't my reason) either way, I still feel like Arnold needs that. Like... he is the character that can't take his hands off Rishe after she finally allowed him to cross that line. Like this is the one thing I am sure that workaholic would come home early for XD He just feels like this kind of character.
6. What are the questions you have regarding the plot?
What is Arnolds plan? What is he hiding? Did Rishes meddling help in stopping Arnold from becoming the man who killed her in her last life, or did she actually only make him stronger? Why is Rishe stuck in that loop? Is Arnold also stuck in that loop? What is the secret behind Arnolds father? Is there a way to stop Arnolds father without Arnold killing him? (My biggest fear is that eventually, that man will be a danger to Rishe - I am sure Arnold doesn't keep her away from him without a good reason - and that is why he will end up killing him anyway in this loop...) Did Arnold kill his mother because she was trying to kill him and is that what he has those scars from? Will the time come where Rishe has to use all the friends and connections she made to her advantage against Arnold and his plans? What did happen to Arnold in all the previous loops that he ended up starting that war? And what happened to him after Rishe died? Will Rishe EVER have the chance to actually lead a carefree and lazy life? Is she even capable of that? XD
7. What is your biggest fear regarding the novels?
The the story will never be finished for one reason or another. Or that they stop translating them and I will never find the answers to my questions.

Hello! I have a question about you’re pillar fam au : since josuke and yukako are in this au, did Joseph still end up cheating like in the original show?
ah! that actually got answered quite awhile back in one of the first comics i think i did for this au
no, joseph did not cheat. my joseph from my writing would never do that and Wham and Suzi would have killed him super dead for it. Joseph is happily married to his husband and wife, and loves their daughter.
Instead I decided in this rewrite, to try and keep to the canon best i can with what iv built but without the cheating plotline. Tomoko was planning her future with her boyfriend/fiancé/husband/whatever at the time, talking about having kids. Going great as far as she could ever tell, they were struggling to conceive so Tomoko turned to getting outside help for this, via a sperm donor. However around the time of confirming Tomoko's pregnancy, her partner left very suddenly and without warning and was never seen from again, leaving Tomoko heart broken and with a kid(s) on the way. (with a very similar vibe to how canon tomoko is with Joseph, even tho he's gone and did her wrong she still loves him. She struggles to the idea of loving again and her kids are VERY concerned on the matters of their mothers heart. Yukako wishes to see her mother find love again and move on. While Josuke swears he'd kill his mothers ex if he ever saw him and gets super defensive to any advances anyone makes at his mother because he doesn't want to see her get hurt again)
That sperm donor would just so happen to be Joseph Joestar, after traveling around the world with his new friend Abdul and letting himself get a little too competitive in a simple drinking game of dare go too far he left his mark behind in the sperm bank in Tokyo were Tomoko would end up seeking professional help for her pregnancy.
for the first few years of Josuke and Yukako's life no one was aware of the connection they would have to the Joestar family. Joseph would struggle to recall his less than careful party going behavior while visiting Tokyo that would result in the Higashikata kids somewhere out there, who would later inherit stands from Josephs side of the family. And Tomoko wouldn't be aware of why her kids were sick for 50 days back in 89' or that it could possibly be because of their bio dads bloodline.
Joseph and the family would come to find out about Josuke and Yukako during the events of p3, after Speedwagon Foundation doctors digging through the families medical files for information to try and help Holly, they would stumble upon Josephs Donation and with the Foundation's research were able to find out resulted spawn from this event.
After returning home, finding Holly's stand had "gone away and would no longer hurt her" they decided the same must have happened with the twins of Morioh. Deciding to put their personal feelings aside and leave the family alone. They didn't need the "excitement" that came from being around their family and deserved to stay far away from it as they can
they wouldn't, no one in that family can leave well enough alone and the kids didn't "lose their stands" either. Tomoko would raise two kids who seemed to always have weird things happening around them that she could never explain. And as they began their years of highschool, they would be approached by Jotaro who was there both on leads from the SW foundation as well as, a discovery that holly stand never went away. It laid dormant mostly as she no longer needed it and herself believed it no longer to be there. However she would realize the stand was still with her in a small way, and then slowly dawn on the fact that if she had her stand still, would her estranged morioh siblings still have their? With this, SW leads and everything else lining up. Joseph finally decides that as he's gotten older, that if he brought these kids into this world and left their mother to raise god knows what kinda kids his genetic and stand abilities would leave her to deal with, they deserved some form of compensation. thus followed up by the events of p4 in a slightly tweaked way, mostly on the front of family relations and some stuff slightly changed just to my own taste and more of Yukako's involvement in stuff.

I think most people think all gaslighting is malicious but it doesn't need to be. Gaslighting (especially when it's cultural) can be done unconsciously or unintentionally, or perhaps even intentionally with an awareness of impacting the other person but not realising that the impact is harmful.
For example - when you try to express an unpopular opinion but it's just dismissed or people behave like they can't understand how or why you could possibly think that, even when you try to explain. Imo ppl often react like that because they don't WANT to put in the effort to understand or deal with the discomfort of a new/unusual idea. They probably don't mean to criticise your intellectual capabilities but if it happens for long enough or often enough, it's easy to begin thinking "I must be dumb/stupid, I must have bad taste, etc."
Another example is when you're trying to get your point across but the other person disagrees with you by addressing everything else except the key point you're making. For example, with the Carlos situation, if someone says "I dislike his s4 plotline cz it doesn't fit properly with the earlier seasons", the general response (not including you in this) is "oh but it's totally possible for someone of his background to do what he did". Um yeah, but that wasn't the point? The point was that the show messed up the execution of a perfectly plausible storyline. But the execution is never addressed generally, instead the discussion is repeatedly directed to the motivations of the character. Which leads to the feeling of "am I shouting into the void? can ppl not hear me? am I stupid for thinking this when most others don't even think the problem exists? etc etc"
Sorry to go off on a rant about this in your inbox. But if always drives me up the wall when people get offended about words like "consent" and "gaslighting" being used, just because they don't realise that there's levels to those concepts.
I think that you're right, there certainly are levels. And some of the things you described could fall under the larger umbrella of the term depending on the specific circumstances. I think people get their hackles up pretty quick tho because gaslighting is a very specific term. It describes a method of emotional abuse where someone's sense of reality is repeatedly called into question in order to gain psychological power over them. It is manipulation with the intent of making them completely vulnerable to their abuser because they can't trust their own mind anymore. And The Internet™ (sweeping generalization, I know) seems to have somewhat decided it is actually a catch-all term that applies to things like any time someone said something that doesn't reflect your perspective or whenever someone disagreed with you and didn't immediately acquiesce when you demanded they change their mind. So people are, understandably, going to be pretty instantly offended if you accuse them of intentional emotional abuse when what you really mean is "you're kind of being a dick."
There is all kinds of dickish behaviour that doesn't qualify as gaslighting, like being dismissive or being unnecessarily rude or arguing with a point someone wasn't making (people do this to me all the time on here so I feel you on that one. The whole "I like mozzarella cheese" "oh so you HATE CHEDDAR???" phenomenon. It is endlessly frustrating when someone is putting words into your mouth and getting mad at you for something you didn't say. It is an unkind and lazy and bad faith way to interact with someone. But that doesn't necessarily make it gaslighting.) Things go both ways, too. People are allowed to just straight up disagree with you and not be interested in taking the time to understand your position. Like it would be nice if they were willing to hear you out and be open to a different perspective, but you aren't entitled to demand that they do so and they aren't being abusive if they don't want to, especially over something as ultimately inconsequential as a difference in fictional character interpretation. People can just say 'I don't agree' or 'I don't see it that way' and move on. Idk. I see what you're saying, I honestly do. And I can see how that would be super frustrating and lead to not a very nice fandom experience. But it's just really complicated.

That's a good idea with the mini spell, I used to love that one in BBS. It'll be interesting to see how the first meeting between the heartless duo and reader will be and how they decided not to kill these two uniques guys. I have some ideas, but I'm happy to leave how it'll happen as an actual suprise :D Also the reaction to them eating other heartless, like, reader shocked and concerned, especially as they grow bigger XD I look forward to reading it once ideas are finalized ~Shy
I plopped the plotline in the prompts post I made awhile back.
"you a new key blade wielder who had no idea about other worlds or key blades are heartless." To clarify that out better, reader just lost their world and got a keyblade.
"You meet them, they're Friendly, you hang out. Give them the bell ribbons they have wrapped around their wrists and they start following you around, sometimes eating the heartless you slay, you don't know this is bad" reader meets them right after and it's more then deciding not to kill you because hey, keyblade wielders attack heartless on site and you're clearly clueless so not actually a threat, they're eating the released hearts or other heartless behind your back because they did want to get stronger and start off just using you for that before becoming attached.
"just that the two are getting bigger and more detailed, starting to look like jester's. You aren't scared tho, they two are goofy, doing silly dances while circling you sometimes." so it's like they're growing due to experience to you but they also stay goofy so you're not too worried about it.
"You started calling them Sunny and Moony because of the facial markings that developed. Moon has the access to the sleep, magnet, and gravity spell, used it on you before, Sun has access to fire, thunder, and mine, they both have protect, reflect, heal and stop(haha timeout) and mini. They basically act as your support. They eventually stop eating hearts after they're big enough to pick you about 5 feet of the ground so when they're ten feet."
Moon is a gremlin who will playfully mess with you but also make you sleep. They don't really have much interest in eating hearts anymore once they're developed fully, they're the size they wanted to be. It's not the entire plotline just prompt notes that I already revealed
(if I'm remembering that post right, if not well it's not like the notes actually spoil anything dealing with the plotline itself and a bit expanded on their motivations, it might end up being a bit long with how much I know about KH due to playing most of the games, the streaming of the games is like a refresher course. I forgot how much the mechanics of the first game annoy me so I'm probably gonna stream multiple nights this week to just get it over with so I can start chain of memories, of course i'm gonna post a couple hour before hand before the stream and post again when it starts, usual between 10pm-11pm is when I usually start.)

I actually liked coodot’s cancer plotline, for inspiration for my own reclamation AU purposes.
So S1 or the Prequel (featuring Eddie! Or Edward) Where Riddler’s debut is hacking into the television for his puzzle show… only this happened AFTER Joker first did it, so the public thinks he’s some “Joker copycat.” Obviously infuriated by this, he sets Joker as a (one-sided) rival! I read a fic that i can’t remember, where Eddie was a fan and his first meeting with Joker was in Arkham but he was completely disassociating, the day after Eddie officially stopped caring and thought he sucked but Joker was present mentally there this time being just as annoying as he usually is but this time slightly interested. Yeah, Eddie never was a fan in my version, but i liked the idea of Joker disassociating (in my AU Joker usually disassociates in Arkham and that’s the explanation as to why he doesn’t leave as quickly as easily it seems).
Anyway, Eddie does his usual interactions and teamups with rouges, being abused in Arkham, that stupid misdiagnosis of OCD is given + other wrong diagnosis's (but this time on purpose by me), and is generally annoying to everyone. He’s not given lots to work with in the prequel besides being convenient for Batman to do vigilantism, so I’m skipping over to-
S2 or the main story: Eddie’s experiencing the new resurgence of Arkham Asylum, getting to do more bonding with the patients that doesn’t involve manipulation or insulting or just to hear his own voice. He gets a proper re-diagnosis, this time he has autism with NPD!!! Leland gets to him with his daddy issues, and the whole ableism and bullying thing makes more… sense now. (In this world, i tried smashing the original Batman’s 1940 date with slightly current-er 2000s together, so the timeline’s going by real life standards but faster and combined with the unrealistic elements) (So actually autism is a new-ish concept) (Still, even with that context, it doesn’t excuse how Arkham’s “doctors” just fucking suck). Anyway, better coping mechanisms! Whoo!
Eddie actually decides to get properly released, since it seemed really easy? He’s partaking in the Wayne’s charitable jobs for unemployable people like ex cons and maybe immigrants and others idk. (I saw a fic do this, but i swear i thought of the idea before i saw it, but haha coincidence). Most of the rouges are apart of this program, so there’s fun shenanigans to happen there. Actually, most of the rouges are also part of the all inclusive queer group from that bar, i think i mentioned that already tho. Eddie fits in pretty nicely with the queer group, people actually support and praise and hype him up awwwww.
Eddie actually joins a different group distanced from the activists and queers, he joins a coding or nerd(?) club. He meets Barbara, a STEM(?) graduate(?), that managed to impress him somehow (i haven’t figured out the why yet). They end up working with each other for some mystery/puzzle solving (anti-villain) (poor Gordon 💀).
So the cancer part is real, and everyone is sad about it. There’s an entire not-birthday party set up just to celebrate him before he passes away. (I wanted Eddie to feel important without needing him to prove it).
So this is where Lois and Luthor actually comes in. Lois was having a pretty successful anti-Lex campaign, his reputation was getting to an uncomfortable point… Until Luthor dropped the fucking “I found the cure to cancer” BOMB!!! So, the media doesn’t know what to think, neither does anyone else (don’tcha just hate it when that shitty guy does a good thing?). Eddie was one of the guys that got cured, so he’s unfortunately indebted to Lex.
I think that’s all i got for now

Hello Again
I am once again, bobbing my head back into the light from the void that is my creative headspace. The point of my return, what is it?
Simple: new city, new ideas and most importantly, new plotline. Ah don't we love inconsistent storytelling. I get you hooked on Ghaaliyah just to switch and start talking about Kyhan and now I'm here to bore you with Levant.
Let's start with the fun bit: Levant. My shining city of magic and acedemia. My hogwarts meets dystopian factions love child... Tho there's really not much dystopian influence outside the seperation of magic schools being stupidly serious, like London city gangs lol. However to make up for that farce it's is actually a setting with extreme classism. All my major locations have a point to them. Ghaaliyah's is the struggle to maintain peace through deception. Skolgior is the dangers of excess and their nomadic counter part is the dangers of self proclaimed moral superiority; the region of Kyhan is on the nature of balance.
ANYWAYS BACK TO LEVANT, I'm having quite a bit of fun creating the schools (which as of current are based around D&D wizard subclasses because I'm using this world for my campaigns and therefore they need some structure. However this may very well change as I don't know how many stories I will actually tell in this world with others lol). For shits and giggles I decided to dedicate 2 colleges to the creators of D&D. The Evrim Gygax Institution of Illusion and Transmutation is named for Gary Gygax. Illusion and transmutation involve changing something's apperance and so I put the two together. Illusion was the first wizard subclass in E2 (correct me if I'm wrong), so it felt fitting. David Arneson has the school for conjurations and evocations, the other dual class academy: The Durnin Arneson School for Conjurations and Evocations. I imagine creating a ttrpg take quite a long creative process. I see both magic subclasses as different forms of bringing something into creation, it's a little corny I admit lol. Levant's major plotline is the issue of class, but their is a murder subplot(potentially serial killer idk I'm still brainstorming).
Alright I've rambled long enough, most of Levant is heavily under workshop but I can't tell anyone I know in person so into the void of the infinite internet where it may stay hidden for now. Cheers.

honestly THANK YOU for saying all that abt baghra bc i thought i was going crazy from not liking her??? bc i haven't read the books and only summaries of them on wiki and like. i dunno why ppl like her actually even in the show bc this guy, her son, is like "i wanna make the world better for us grisha" and she's just like "no." even tho he sees that she's MAKING HERSELF SICK from suppressing her powers! she's literally like in bed coughing in the flashback yet seem much healthier at the little palace. also like after everything, after her disapproval, after the fold, after centuries of waiting for the sun summoner.. he never abandons her. he makes sure she's cares for. he doesn't harm her. and i have to wonder if baghra has ever thanks him for that, for just not leaving her alone. like i dunno how im suppose ro believe aleks is a heartless villain when he still cares for his abusive mom like this. like has baghra even told her she loved him (honestly she reminds me of a classic emotionally unavailable asian parent but maybe that's just me). also im wondering if baghra ever told aleks that he had an aunt.. bc like.. now that u bring up her isolating him it's like hmmmm...
not at me being like alina... why do u trust the bitter old woman who literally beats u with a stick and verbally abuses u every chance she gets.. just bc she showed a bad painting... like.. pls use two braincells to see that who u figured out as his mother... is also using his protection..
like baghra could've upped and left with alina. but no. she stayed bc she knew she was safe under aleks's protection.
alsoim just impressed that after his first friend tried to drown him and harvest his bones... he didn't go into hiding???? he still wanted to make a safe heaven for grisha!!! HE STILL WANTED TO PROTECT GRISHA EVEN AFTER HIS GRISHA FRIEND TRIED TO KILL HIM FOR HIS FUCKEN BONES. like... this is the guy im suppose to believe is the villain???
honestly i feel like part of the reason why LB's plotlines seem so bad and disconnected (and sometimes outright racist but that's another rant) and why darkles is disproportionately more violent and villainous in the later books is bc she didn't expect the darkling to be so popular and wanted to stick with her guns of making him the villain. but also wanted the money from aleks's popularity. but like you can't have ur cake and eat it too.
Well thank you for sending this ask! It's very sweet and very passionate. I'm glad you liked my post! I didn't put as much thought into it as some of my others lol. I kind of just talked. But it was nice to be able to finally talk about some of the problems I have with both her character and the fandom/author's perception of her.
HERE is the post this is referring to, in case anyone's wondering.
👀👀 You've hit the nail on the head for so many things, here!
Baghra is extremely emotionally unavailable, basically to the point of neglect. She's also verbally and physically abusive, traits which I doubt were only reserved for her students and not her son. Baghra claims she would do anything to protect him, but I've known a lot of parents who have that mindset and yet still harm their children because they think it's "good for them".
Aleksander stays at Baghra's side for years, and even when they're opposing each other she's never too far away from him. Idk if you've read the books but he does eventually hurt her. And as much as I don't like Baghra, I think his actions were horrid. But I'm also honestly kind of surprised it took him so long lmao.
Yeah I mean, in terms of isolation, let's not forget that she never wanted to introduce him to his father, either. Baghra's sense of eternity clouds a lot of her judgments on relationships, which means she views most people as dust and therefore teaches her son to as well. The problem with that is that he's a growing child, and he needs those social and emotional attachments for healthy development.
I would bet quite a bit of money that Baghra has either never told him she loves him or she has told him so few times it's practically forgettable.
And everything becomes more complicated because so many of Baghra's actions are understandable because of her life and her history, but the impacts they have on the people around her, especially Aleksander, are permanently damaging. And the fact that that's never gone over in critical depth in the books or how it's glossed over in fandom is just very disconcerting. Like, acknowledging Baghra's failings doesn't mean we're excusing Aleksander's actions, it just means we're holding Baghra liable for her own. Which the fandom should be doing, considering she's the epitome of an abusive parental figure.
And Alina trusting Baghra over Aleksander is even more confusing! Especially in the show!! This is the woman who beat her and abused her and tortured her friends when they tiny little children (and who probably still does so now that they're adults). This is the woman who mocks you and harasses you and insults you on a regular basis. Why does Baghra revealing she's Aleksander's mother make Alina change her mind?! Like fuck, I'd just feel bad for Aleksander. No wonder he kept it a secret, I would too! And that painting is enough evidence?! Really?! A random painting shown to you by this abusive mentor that's been making your life hell. That's what you're going to betray your new lover over?
The friends trying to harvest his bones thing is a good point, too. I think Aleksander, especially show Aleksander, is incredibly idealistic. I think he cares too much for others - those he's deemed worth his care (a sentiment given to him by Baghra). Despite everything she's tried to teach him about hiding and abandoning others and never caring and never doing anything to help or reach out or connect with people, Aleksander still continues to do so. It's likely because he never got it from Baghra growing up, and so is desperate for those emotional needs to be fulfilled elsewhere.
His turning point, when Baghra tells him it was understandable that those kids tried to kill him because the world is such a hard place for them - that's crucial. And the reason it's possible as a motivating factor is because of that idealism and that desire to help and that desire to be everything his mother isn't. Baghra tells him this trauma he just experienced was because of the oppression of his people, and instead of following her lead and accepting that, going into hiding and abandoning everybody to their misery, he goes I can do something about that. I can make it so this never happens again. Which is usually how trauma like that combines with one's core personality traits at a young age, especially when there's none of the essential support systems in place to aid in recovery (ie, the role Baghra should have been filling but wasn't, because she decided to exacerbate the problem instead).
And yeah, one of my biggest problems with the ham-fisted "beating you over the head with a sledgehammer of evil deeds" look-how-bad-this-character-is! portrayal of the Darkling in the later books comes from the impression I get that Bardugo doesn't trust her readers. She's so desperate to have us hate this character and think him an irredeemable villain, not trusting any of her readers to engage critically with a morally gray character, that it feels quite a bit like condescending fucking bullshit. Which ew, I know how to engage with literature, thanks.
She really does seem to look down on a large part of her fandom, and imo, the infantilization of the female characters in her books seems to carry over to her impression of most of her female readers as well. Which is why the Darkling's character arc gets fucking destroyed. But he's still a good cash grab, of course, so she'll shake his dead corpse in front of the fandom for money every time she wants something from it.
Also! Another reason I think her plotlines feel disconnected (I'm sorry Bardugo I respect you as a person, but shit-) is because the writing in SaB is just bad. I mean, nevermind the absolutely nauseating implications of the way she portrays the Grisha as a persecuted group who's situation is never actually fully addressed as it should be, considering Grisha rights is what her main villain is fighting for (imo for a series called the Grishaverse, LB seems to be pretty anti Grisha), but her characters and story alone are just wrong for each other. They don't fit together.
And the ending is one of the main pieces of evidence in that regard! You can’t say the ending where Alina isn’t Grisha anymore is her “going back to where she started” when she’s always been Grisha. She just didn’t know she was Grisha because she denied that part of herself that she was born with.
Alina is reluctant to move forward or change, she struggles with adapting, and she’s very set on the things she’s grown attached to throughout her life. She also has some latent prejudices against the Grisha, and so denies the possibility of being Grisha for those reasons as well.
Alina’s lack of powers in the beginning of her life because she willfully doesn’t learn about them to avoid change versus her lack of powers at the end of the book when she’s accepted them and then they’re stripped away from her by outer forces are two entirely separate circumstances. You can’t make a parallel about lost powers and lack of Grisha status bringing her back to the start when she was always Grisha and she always had powers and she simply refused to come to terms with it because of personal reasons.
The first situation is an internal conflict that indicates a story about growth and a journey of self acceptance. Denying herself the opportunity to learn about her heritage and to find acceptance with a group of people like her because she’s tied to the past and because of the way she was raised is the setup for a narrative that tackles unlearning prejudice and learning how to connect with a part of her identity that was denied her and learning how to grow independent and self assured. It’s the setup for a different story entirely. The second situation is an external conflict that centers around the ‘corrupting influence of power’... for some reason.
In a world where Grisha do not have social, political, or economic power and they are hunted, centering your heroine’s journey of self acceptance and growth around an external conflict about... the corrupting influence of power (in a group of people that don’t actually have any power?!) just doesn’t work. It is literally impossible to connect the two stories Bardugo is trying to push in Shadow and Bone without seriously damaging the main character’s developmental arc.
The only way a narrative like this would work, claiming that she has gone back to where she started, is either a) if the Grisha weren’t actually a persecuted group and instead were apart of the upper class, or b) if the one bad connection between the two instances is acknowledged - that Alina denied a part of herself crucial to self acceptance and growing up, and that losing her powers at the end has also denied her. It is a tragedy, not a happy ending.
Alina suffered because she didn’t use her powers. She grew sick. It was bad for her. This was not a resistance to 'the corruption of power and the burden of greed', it was her suffering because she couldn’t fully accept herself.
Framing the ending as a return to the beginning can’t be done if you don’t address how bad the beginning was for your main character. You brought her back to a bad point in her life. You regressed her. This should be a low point in her arc. It should be a problem that’s solved so she can finish developing organically or it should be something that is acknowledged as a tragedy in it’s own right, for the future the world (the writing) denied her.
This is a ramble and it makes no sense and I’m really sorry, but my point is that Bardugo put the wrong characters in the wrong story. The character arc required for organic development doesn’t match the story and intended message at all. The narrative doesn’t fit the cast. She's got two clashing stories attempting to work in tandem and she ends up with both conflicting messages that fans still can’t comprehend in her writing and an ending that doesn’t suit her main character to such an impossible degree that it’s almost laughable.
So yeah, there's a few reasons why I think the story and the plot feels so bad and disconnected. I hope you don't mind me making this answer so long! 😅 I was not expecting to write this much.

A combo of making use of Yara, Ava and Kieu My could have achieved the same results that introducing Lou and Sascha have done so far. It's a pain to enter wk 3 of this stagnant story with nothing concrete for the viewers who dgaf about love triangle to hold on to. Even the ones who are slightly invested have a superficial preference (Sascha) or feeling of representation (Lou) towards one new character or another, rather than a their potential interesting plot integration into ismail's story
yeah i absolutely agree there rly wasn't a need for new characters they could've gotten so much of the same stuff from old characters too or they could've just.. written a story that involves old characters n deals w the themes that were already introduced during the previous seasons...
n this is kinda where i feel like we again need to reiterate that the characters r fictional n only exists/act the way they act to tell us a story so it's like.. do we have an existing childhood best friend for ismail? no but nowhere does it say there needs to be one bc that was just the writers' decision. the story that they're trying to tell w the childhood best friend tho? ismail being friends w someone who's connected to ava so they can talk abt the bullying plotline, showing how even tho he's trying to change ismail still continues the pattern of neglecting friends in favor of the "cooler" ones & mostly hangs out w them only when he needs help/feels like it. hmmm it's almost like last season ismail already got to know someone who wasn't exactly part of the cool kids group but rather the "lame outsiders".. someone who ismail only approached bc he needed help.. someone who's literally best friends w ava helloooo?????? they had all that set up in s6 but just decided to bring in a whole new character to essentially serve the same role. n this line of thinking can be applied to various plotlines n the characters u mentioned too.
it's frustrating bc i do like both sascha & lou. i think sascha is such a sweetheart n i like seeing him in clips. lou is a rly intriguing character w her mysterious aesthetic & the way she fits in well w the instas but is still uniquely her own person. it's just that.. they weren't necessary. they already had all the pieces to tell this same story.
n i feel like i have to emphasize that point bc of courseee it's not a bad thing to introduce new characters to a tv show like. it would be kind of silly to say Okay we got the new gen here already n we like them so it's illegal to bring in new characters bc we only want to see our faves. that's kind of a childish way to view a tv show n reminds me of all the ppl demanding evak scenes in s4 when they literally weren't relevant. but here it just simply is a fact that the old characters Would be more relevant n would drive the plot faster toward the same goal. getting new characters is fine but they have to actually further the plot that has been set up since s5. now i feel like sascha n lou are more like halting it... bc we don't know them we need to get to know them first and Then we can start seeing how they r involved in ismail's, u know the main character's, story. (+ also the fact that the characters who are filling the roles that previously belonged to/could've been filled by characters of color are now white)

My OC, Fenris
... and the Eldarya AU that she’s in, because I just can’t see her in the original Origins storyline with her differences from Guardienne/Erika. And I think my AU has some pretty interesting ideas. I’ll explain it after I introduce her.
Yea, I know, Fenris Theorem, Fenris, it all connects, huh? Hehe. I like the name, that’s all.
(This page is informational, so it’s written in a bit more of a note-taking fashion rather than a story fashion. It’s written in a very choppy manner but it’s comprehensible despite not having any stress on having it beautifully written.)
This page just introduces you to my OC. I decided to create a page on her for the poll (now ended) because I think some people will really like small excerpts on her story with Lance, but obviously you need to know about her before deciding that for sure. You’ll notice that some theories I may have posted on Lance in the past are a part of this AU - these theories have been in my mind and I posted them only because I thought they could exist in the actual plotline (it’s where a lot of my theories come from, and then some ideas fit into the AU, and then some ideas could exist in the actual plotline as well based on what I observe), so this is where some of those theories come from.
For the poll - if anything, I would recommend reading the paragraph titled “*Her story in Origins (where many things are explained in moderation, because if I went in-depth I wouldn’t need to write stories on this):” above all else because that describes what I will be writing if the poll results shows that that’s wanted. Everything else is just extra information for you to know my OC and the AU better. The paragraph is at the bottom of the post.
Above all else, this is an AU, and a fantasy world. I like to try to give rationality and logic to a lot of things, so you’ll read a lot of me explaining things, but at the end of the day it’s all fantasy and can be perceived - and therefore approved or unapproved of - in a multitude of ways. If you like my AU but find it illogical in some ways, that’s no problem! Just enjoy reading about it if you enjoy the ideas within it. 😊
~ This is long so continue below the cut ~
A lot of this information can be a bit vague at first but it comes together when I explain the basic plot.
Her basics: She goes by Fenris but her actual name is Dakota. However, people usually call her Kota, or occasionally Ko (Fen is used later for Fenris, first by Ashkore / Lance, but later when she was discovered by the guard as well). She was 18 when she came to Eldarya via mushroom circle (like Guardienne/Erika). The guard test placed her in the Obsidian guard - she’s very happy with that outcome. Was in a relationship with Valkyon before leaving him for Lance (*explained later).
Physical Appearance: Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of her and nothing in Eldarya describes her and her clothing very well, so you’ll just need to imagine the physical features that I describe on Eldarya’s Guardienne sprite. Also, she’s pretty flexible with how she styles her hair and dresses, so I don’t think a single picture of her would describe her well.
Fair and light in skin tone, perhaps a slight tan-ish tone. Thin, but broad shouldered. She’s well-muscled (later on, less so when she first arrived), which gives her a bit of thickness, but not too much. Nicely curved. About 5 ft. 5 in. (167.64 cm). Dark hair, but not exactly black, with brown-hazel eyes. Her hair is medium-length and is usually braided in a multitude of styles. Her eyes occasionally glow a brilliant gold (explained under ‘abilities and genetics’ and ‘her story in Origins’).
Usually wears dark, ancient / tribal-like clothes (think Norse Vikings) with thin, form-fitting but strong armor around her forearms, lower legs (below the thigh starting from knees) and chest/midriff. She wears a good amount of red, blue, gold, silver or dark green clothing and accents with the black base for color. Usually nothing over-the-top, she likes to have her own unique style and express herself but doesn't like to draw unnecessary attention. Doesn't like most faux fur as it doesn't look nice in her opinion, but may wear some that she likes occasionally. Is more likely to wear real fur from hunted animals, but doesn't wear it too often. She wears a sword on her hip, and has a few semi-concealed daggers placed on her body (thigh, boot, torso) for quick use if needed.
Personality: She has a wide spectrum of how she acts depending on people, situations, what she knows, and her current mood. She's typically quite calm, and doesn't seek for trouble or drama, however, she does like to hear the recent news/gossip from around the guard; to stay updated on things, know what may effect her, try to think ahead and just for the sake of knowing. She's very curious and typically observes the situation around her, but in a very subtle way. Is a planner and likes to think ahead, and usually knows how to react to anything because of her observations and forward thinking. Around friends, she's very kind and welcoming. They can talk about anything to her and she'll keep her mouth shut - she has a good loyalty streak (but it does have a limit). However, she doesn't have any friends that are like family to her, but on the day she does find friends like that her loyalty will truly be endless. It's ride or die, and she'll always stand by their side. She has a major independent streak and can’t be around people for too long, otherwise she’ll crack and get a bit irritated more easily. She likes her alone time. In general, she's very cordial with people. Again, she doesn't like to cause unnecessary trouble or drama - she's had a rough past (discussed under ‘history’) and quickly shuts down anyone doing so in a professional but aggressive, don’t-argue-with-me sort of way. She can be harsh, cold and withholding - especially with people she genuinely dislikes - but doesn't like to act this way. On the note of people she dislikes- it's hard to get her to truly dislike someone, but it can be a bit easy as well. In general rule, as long as someone is conscious of the reality of the world around them and doesn't seek to cause issues, she's fine with them, but the instant someone starts continually spreading rumors that are clearly false, or acts (especially in a way that hurts others) solely in their selfish interests, or takes part in willful ignorance (purposely ignoring an issue that you know shouldn’t be ignored), she keeps note of that person and reminds herself to be wary of them in the future. They could be a source of trouble or misinformation that may need to be stopped, and she won’t be very forgiving. However, this is just a general rule, it doesn't always apply - remember she can change based on the situation and what she knows. She recognizes that sometimes people dislike things that are good for them, or like harmful things, and sometimes the villain is actually the hero, history and set rules are created by the winners and anyone against it is considered the villain, and sometimes you need to be cruel to be merciful. She's fully aware that sometimes the bad of life is good, and may defend that, but she's always sure to think long and hard about it before giving a decision like that. A lot of terrible things have happened to her, so she tries to avoid being a source of those terrible things for the world. She feels emotions very deeply and can be a bit impulsive, but fortunately she’s not typically hurt or gets others hurt due to her impulsivity. Again, she is very curious and observes things a lot, so she can usually get a good read on anything new she comes across and work from there, or she can use other information she knows and apply it to the situation. That being said, she won’t drag her friends or anyone else into her occasionally dangerous impulsive decisions. She’ll offer it if they’d like to join her, but she won’t pressure them. Their safety is their decision, and she’ll do her best to protect them although she can’t truly guarantee it. Being in the Obsidian guard, she can’t really condone anyone to risk their safety for fun, especially if it’s her idea. She has a good sense of responsibility when she works for what she believes in, and will sacrifice some of her comfort and fun making sure that she follows her responsibilities if needed. On the topic of her guard - when she first came to Eldarya and joined the Obsidian guard, she wasn’t too bad of a fighter upon basic training, but it was when she started training with Ashkore / Lance where her skills greatly improved until she was perhaps the best fighter in the guard, rivaled only by a few other warriors - including Valkyon. She’s not against helping others improve, but she’s very careful with what she tells the guard - if anyone knew her skills were due to Ashkore, she’d be in massive trouble and may be treated as a complete accomplice. She doesn’t like to lie unless truly necessary, so she’ll usually withhold lots of damning information, and she thoroughly thinks over everything she says, any possible answers to theoretical questions, how her words can connect with other things, and how it might be taken from someone else’s perspective, before revealing any information. Did I mention she’s very cunning and smart, especially after knowing Lance? She has prior knowledge in how to utilize sarcasm and wit, but that’s also improved after meeting Lance.
She changes in time to be quite a bit more harsh and unforgiving when she starts working with Lance.
(For media reference, think of Lagertha from Vikings and Octavia from Netflix’s The 100. She’s a bit of a combination between the two, both in personality and appearance, although Octavia represents her a bit better in appearance.)
Abilities and Genetics: When she first came to Eldarya, she had no idea of her faery genetics. She never felt as though she belonged with humans and always felt that something was off, but she truly thought she was human genetically - until the guard had her take a test and realized she apparently had some faery blood in her (like what actually happened in the original plotline). She went a good while not knowing about what her genetics were, until Lance told her she was a dragon. She learned her abilities under his mentorship, and found that - to be more specific - she’s a shadow dragon. Her shadows appear usually like a pitch black fog, but can be manipulated into almost any form; hard or soft, thin or thick, curved or straight. It has a bit of a cold feel, but she can’t actually control the temperature of her shadows. She can adjust the color of her shadows along a grey-scale until it looks like any grey or silver, even looking like normal fog, but she can’t make it lighter than silver. She can also make pre-existing shadows darker or lighter depending on what she wants. Being a dragon, she also has a dragon form and can shift into a half-transformed body (like what’s seen with Tia). She has premonitions and prophecies as well. This ability typically manifests in dreams and can come to her the night before it manifests in reality, or even sometimes years in advance - there’s really no way to know. She struggles a lot trying to learn this - and to learn the difference between a premonition dream and just a normal dream - and has some basic understanding of it’s rules. She has absolutely no control over when she has these dreams, but she can occasionally put herself in a bit of a calm, meditative state where she can observe her surroundings enough to faintly feel energies, and from there she can receive some premonitions. When she receives premonitions or prophecies while awake, her eyes glow a brilliant gold - this stems from a more spiritual side of her genetics (*explained later). This ability to very hard to control, though, and can rarely be done despite her persistence in it.
History: She... didn’t have a very peaceful life. Since her birth, her parents had basically been at war with each other. She grew up under a distinct combination of good influences and bad influences from both parents, but for the most part her mother was her major support as her father failed to be there for her. Neither extended family had much impact, but her father’s family knew of the terrible things he did and didn’t do anything. She continues to hold a grudge against many humans for being forced to live an endangered upbringing when she and her mother were so clearly crying for help. However, she’s aware that this is also what drives her some days, as she didn’t live through all of that just to die shamefully with an unlived life. In time, her grudge against humans has calmed, but it flares back up whenever she’s reminded or learned about something terrible that humans have caused or do currently - it’s a continuous battle and she has a hard time giving an honest opinion on humanity due to her complex emotions. She came to Eldarya when she was 18 (like Guardienne/Erika) and the rest is history (*and is explained below).
Relationships: Miiko is... alright. It’s a bit of a love hate relationship sometimes, but Fenris is usually quite cordial with her. Nevra and Ezarel were irritating at first, but Nevra’s lovableness and Ezarel’s humor slowly grew on her. She liked Valkyon when she first arrived and somewhat quickly pursued a relationship with him. She didn’t mind Leiftan - he was always very kind and left her alone while being cordial (remember, she’s not an angel in this so Leiftan wouldn’t be into her like how he was with Guardienne/Erika). Karuto is like the good father she never had, but she puts her foot down with him on occasion - she doesn’t like to be told what to do, scolded, treated like a child or anything. This is only because she views him in a bit of a fatherly way, and doesn’t want a repeat of her original father. She makes sure he knows that she truly appreciates him, though. Jamon is a bit of a brother if anything, but he’s really just a close friend / colleague that she likes a lot. She appreciates his gentleness and protectiveness for everyone. Ewelein is basically a second mom, she reminds Fenris a lot of her mom back on Earth and has a deep respect for the Elf. Chrome is a bit like an irritating little brother, but she also has a sisterly affection for him. Ykhar and Kero are the panic colleagues; she has a hard time seeing them doing anything else than panicking. She worries a bit for their health as long-term stress is destructive and tries to be as comforting and as nice as possible with them without betraying her personality and morals. Karenn and Alajea are close friends, almost sisterly, but not exactly so. She’s a bit closer with Karenn than she is with Alajea. Cameria is similar to Karenn in the way that she has a bit of a sisterly relationship with Fenris, but in more of a battle partner way. They have a tendency to train together a lot, and they heavily trust each other to have their back in war. Huang Hua is a bit of a friend / leader - she respects the phoenix a lot and has a bit of a close friendly relationship with her. Feng Zifu is a bit of a father figure in the manner that she respects him a lot. She likes to listen to his advice and appreciates his formality.
The AU: So before I explain the plot of the AU, I need to explain a few basics of how I set up the world. In this AU, the crystal breaking could destroy Eldarya, but if it’s shattered in a certain way with certain spells and chants, it’ll release the spirits of the dragons (who sacrificed to create the crystal) and allow them to retain a sort of half-living form - basically they’re alive but... not? It’s weird to  explain. Why does the crystal breaking in this way not destroy Eldarya? The sacrifice allowed a release of energy that originally created the world and then primarily manifested into the shape of the crystal that maintains that world, so this ritual that would be preformed upon it’s shattering would basically allow the energy of the dragons to maintain the world while allowing them to roam around in a different form - hence why they’d be half alive in a way. They’d be physical, but they have additions and limits on what they can and can’t do because they’re still technically dead. However, this isn’t common knowledge (because the guard protects the crystal, they’re the ‘only’ source of ‘accurate’ information on the crystal and both Yonuki Kaze and Miiko have stated that if the crystal breaks Eldarya will fall), only Lance has figured this out (and many of his mercenaries believe him or are working with him because of his destructive habits), so due to this, his ambitions are sort of split in two; destroy the crystal to revive the dragons, and destroy anyone who may try to stop him. In terms of history, Lance in this AU witnessed Miiko (and Nevra - there’s a history behind that that I won’t go into right now) sacrificing dragons to the crystal when he was a part of the guard to try and maintain balance and confronted her about it, only for her to threaten him (in basic; she was convinced sacrificing was the only way to keep balance, and that’s because Yonuki Kaze influenced her into thinking that, so from her perspective Lance coming along and saying it was wrong and had to stop was basically him saying to let the world die) to not tell anyone and stay out of it. Lance then spent a while researching and devising an idea on how to actually balance the world and this included destroying the crystal in a specific way to release the energy (technically there are two ways; the sacrifice was supposed to happen with dragons AND angels, so the ritual was devised to work with the two, but a ritual originally for two races used only with one is basically a ritual preformed improperly, and therefore bound to yield improper results - hence the infertility of the world and shiftiness of it. Undoing the ritual would allow the world to stay while “canceling out the sacrificial imbalance”, but if an angel or demon were to willingly sacrifice - preferably alongside a dragon at the same time - then it would be solved in that way as well). Lance tried to explain this to Miiko later, only to barely get past “I have another idea” before being shut down again. He kept quiet because he feared for himself and his brother (and the only reason Lance could have known that dragons were being sacrificed - without being a dragon himself - is that Miiko said it during the sacrifice he saw, so he didn’t want to raise suspicion onto him and his brother). Later on, Lance is sent to lead an army in a foreign land and is nearly killed, but he saw a chance to escape the guard and took it. From there he’s been Ashkore.
Basically this AU - instead of being “oh no, he’s trying to destroy the world because he’s angry and hurt” - is actually more like “if you had listened the world could be stabilized and also a powerful race could be revived.” It takes the trope of hero and villain and twists it, so the villain is actually a bit of an underdog, villainous hero while the hero’s are - in a way - villains who are heroes because their damning stories haven’t been revealed in a wide-spread manner. Overall, it’s supposed to blur the lines of good and bad, and right and wrong - showing that both sides have good and bad within them, and which side is ‘good’ can depend solely on perception and one’s life anecdote.
*Her story in Origins (where many things are explained in moderation, because if I went in-depth I wouldn’t need to write stories on this): Dakota came to Eldarya by accident via mushroom circle and was placed into the Obsidian guard. She adjusted in time (and willingly took the potion in episode 13 to ease her family / mother of pain and worry) until she got used to things and entered into a romantic relationship with Valkyon. She was sent on basic missions and such and met Ashkore a few times in war (and around the guard), and then she met him accidentally while alone later on outside of the guard. He offered to train her (more like threatened if she didn’t?) and she accepted in time. They trained at night, which was a bit of an issue as she now shared a room with Valkyon and, therefore, had to sneak around. Her skills quickly improved, and her relationship with Valkyon began to decline as he began to become a bit confused / suspicious about her sudden and seemingly random upturn in skills. There were feelings of neglect as well. This carried on for many months and Dakota learned more about Ashkore as well as herself. He eventually admits that she’s a dragon and that he’s investing some of himself into her because of that, and she does her best to explore her abilities with him after that. Eventually she accidentally discovers his actual identity, but keeps quiet about it. As they grow closer, she begins to ask more about him and his reasoning, and he explains his motives for going after the crystal while brushing on the topic of why he’s ruthless to some, but leaves others alone. As she discovers the truth about the dragons and Lance, she realizes that her feelings to the guard were based on lies and false implications, and she begins to grow mentally and emotionally closer with Lance. She becomes less empathetic / sympathetic with Valkyon and eventually sleeps with Lance. This happens a few more times and they enter a sort of limbo where they don’t talk about their relationship with each other but know there’s something heavy going on. Back in the guard, she’s still with Valkyon, and she begins an internal war on what exactly her plan is knowing that she’s sleeping with two guys on the opposite side of a war and that it can’t continue. Her and Valkyon break up in time and she invests her full time into training with Lance, expressing interest in joining his cause. They begin to work together and he gifts her with a specific outfit / armor (that can alternate between identity concealing and revealing for her comfort and safety) so she can go on missions with him. They develop an elaborate scheme to allow her to go on long-term missions with him without suspicion from the guard. She’s eventually sent on a mission and it’s on that mission that she discovers her relation to an ancient dragon named Fenris, and then expresses her interest in taking that name to Lance and the rest of his allies that she’s met (from then on she’s known as Fenris with Lance and Dakota in the guard). Back at the guard, she continues training with Lance and maintaining some sort of odd relationship with himin secret. She’s found elaborate ways to get out of the guard without their suspicion so she can spend many days at a time alone with Lance in a cabin he has hidden in the forest. Over the span of many months / years, she goes on missions with the guard to foreign towns / establishments that are attacked by Ashkore - whether she knows that prior or not - so as she trains she also has actual encounters where she needs to truly fight Lance without actually hurting him while looking as though she’s truly trying to hurt him. When she’s allegedly away on some missions from the guard, she wears the armor that Lance gave her to campaign with him and this occasionally leads to her fighting against the guard if they’re around. In this time and when they’re alone, Lance and allies calls her Fenris as she’s requested them to do. Eventually they go to Memoria together and find out that they have a deeper connection than they think - Fenris (who was an ancient dragon that Dakota took the name of due to her relation with him) and Tia actually knew each other and had a complex history that carried forward to Lance and Dakota / Fenris, and there’s a prophecy of sorts surrounding them. Their relationship after that is still complex, but is more stable as they confirm an attachment to each other. Lance’s identity is eventually revealed to the guard, and sometimes later Fenris is revealed as well, and Lance - in very short, important seconds - offers her to join him completely outside the guard’s walls. She accepts and they flee the guard for a while and plot. Eventually they attack the guard in a final push and get to the crystal, successfully breaking it with... some losses. From there is the skip to ANE, but New Era is... complicated. I haven’t yet thought how she fits into ANE, as many things would be different. Maybe I won’t put pressure on creating her story in it, but if I do I might list it here. Her story in ANE would need to be based off of her story I have here in Origins.
If I write excerpts of this, there may also be many more adventure scenarios that are written but aren’t mentioned here (Lance offering to “help” the guard bring down another greater threat and then turning his forces on them in the midst of war for his own gain, sending them on a wild goose chase, the guard tracking them through rough, unforgiving landscapes trying to catch them, etc.) depending on how the details of her story manifest.
I apologize; that’s a lot to read but I can be very specific and this AU has a lot of important detail that separates it from the original Origins storyline. And this talks over my OC’s details and an AU, which is a lot since there’s not a lot of referencing because I’ve never talked about either before... However, if you’ve read all the way through this post - congrats, and I hope you’re interested in it!
Again, writing excerpts about my OC and her storyline in this AU is an option you can vote on in my writing poll that determines what I’ll write now so I can post later when I can’t access my Tumblr for a few weeks, so if you’re interested in reading about this then please read the info I have about the poll here and feel free to vote!

Hihihi!!! Hello <3 I’ve come with news of yet another OC and a fun plot line I’ve been thinking of….
OC info stuff
Name: Reika Todoroki
Gender: female
Age: 24
Physical Appearance: Red hair with multiple white streaks (due to stress and generalized anxiety disorder) tied in a messy braid and bangs, grey eyes, casual academia aesthetic
Personality: a more meek and conflict avoidant type though very protective and motherly
Occupation: grad student in psychology
Quirk: quirkless
So backstory she’s Touya’s twin and wants to be a nurse due to how his training seems to hurt him constantly. After he died tho she did not come out of it mentally healthy (no one did honestly). Her school life was similar to Izuku’s in that she’s constantly bullied for being quirkless. Her anxiety was horrible and only got worse with the tea kettle incident. Seeing how bad her family was falling apart she decided to alter her dream into healing mental injuries instead of just physical ones. Currently in the series she’s in college finishing up getting her psych degree so she can be a psychologist.
Now plotline: due to someone’s quirk 5 different variants of Reika end up in the canon universe. Now they need to be gathered up and sent back to their respective universes. Now here they are!!
Genderbend!AU
Name: Reiji Todoroki
Gender: male
Age: 24
Physical Appearance: same hair color and white streaks drilled in a messy undercut, grey eyes, wattpad bad boy aesthetic
Personality: unlike his female counterpart he’s a lot more aggressive and hot tempered which is used as a defense mechanism though he’s much softer around his family
Occupation: same as female counterpart
Quirk: quirkless
Mentally healthy!AU
Name: Reika Todoroki
Gender: female
Age: 24
Physical Appearance: loose red wavy hair, grey eyes, casual formal wear
Personality: a more bubbly and compassionate persona though very childish (basically how she’d act if Enji was an actual good father)
Occupation: Nurse at a local hospital
Quirk: quirkless
Villain!AU
Name: Mirai (she went the Dabi route and ditched her legal name)
Gender: female
Age: 24
Physical Appearance: black hair (she dyed it so she can’t be found by her family and the police) styled in a bob cut, grey eyes, tech wear aesthetic with a mask covering the bottom half of her face and a giant katana strapped to her back
Personality: while aggressive she takes a more calculative approach to end her enemies and is known to be sarcastic or flirty with her colleagues
Occupation: LOV member (joined a year after touya left and a few months after being homeless and was found by AFO who preyed on her insecurities about her lack of a quirk)
Quirk: quirkless
Hero!AU
Name: Reika Todoroki
Hero Name: Shift
Gender: female
Age: 24
Physical Appearance: same hair color as canon styled in twin buns, grey eyes, grey jumpsuit with black leotard on top as well as black combat boots and gloves
Personality: extremely protective and motherly as well as mature and sarcastic
Occupation: Pro-Hero
Quirk: Temperature; can shift the temperature of her body to be extremely cold or extremely hot giving her semi immunity to higher and lower temperatures
Quirk Weakness: staying at more extreme temperatures leaves her immune system weakened as well as causes colds or heat sicknesses
Shoto Twin!AU
Name: Reika Todoroki
Gender: female
Age: 16
Physical Appearance: same hair color held in a ponytail, grey eyes occasionally covered by reading glasses, standard private school uniform (mostly black with red lining on the blazer and skirt) or casual nerd aesthetic
Personality: very much akin to middle school izuku where she’s very stressed and meek as well as people pleasing though she’s very compassionate and wants to help others
Occupation: High School student at local private academy
Quirk: quirkless
Plot wise only 4 of them showed up at UA while villain Reika shows up at the league base. After is a series of found family stuff mixed with action, angst, and fluff. That’s all I got so far :)
WAIT HOLY DHIT I LOVE THAT SO MUCH?????? GODDD I LOVE MULTIVERSE PLOTS U R SO COOL

random plot bunnies from my seojun x sujin brainrot on a fic that i might?? or may not write. based primarily from k-drama, following the webtoon plotline:
so, this is set in the future, maybe about five years in?? so theyre all 25 years old at this point and seojun’s a well-established idol (singer)
seojun’s nutritionist provided by the agency is going to resign because she's six-months in into her pregnancy and wanted to focus on raising her children
seojun feels a little disheartened at this point; a lot of the time, being an idol, the few constant things he could rely on was the same faces of the team that took care of him - because in other aspects of his career, he has to meet new people a lot, and his scene and environment changes so much
so this was lowkey a blow for seojun, who just wants every sense of familiarity, regardless how little, to sorta stay?? the same??
but he can’t really have much say on it too, because a lot of the team members who took care of him which he has are provided by the agency, and he knows the agency will be doing placements for that too
but then his nutritionist sorta knows he’s a lil sad (she’s become like a surrogate older sister for him) and she’s like, “i have someone in my mind. she’s... a little rough around the edges. she’s been through a lot. but - she has a good heart. like you.” the nutritionist smiles, “i think the both of you could get along well!”
so the new nutrionist? that’s our badass girl, kang sujin.
now sujin has already known that her senior wanted her to replace the position for han seojun’s nutrionist because her senior trusted her to do a good job, but sujin’s a bit queasy about the entire arrangement if she’s honest
she wants to say no, but her senior has always been supportive and strict in ways that’s got her shaped up to her best ability, and she just didn’t have the heart to say “no” in the end
so on the day they met, seojun recognised sujin immediately, and sujin, at first, pretended that she’s only met seojun for the first time
seojun consecutively tries to trigger some sort of reaction in sujin, but she deflects pretty well? every time he tries to confront her, she’s like “hi mr. han seojun” and “what can i do for you today?”
even during their private sessions while sujin goes over seojun’s daily food and nutrition intakes and adjusting new set of schedules for him, sujin’s all serious. she’s gotten close to snapping at him - but then she quickly just, “noooo :) im not mad :) what do u mean”
after a while, seojun sorta lets it go and focuses back on training
his team is planning a tour, maybe even concerts outside korea, and seojun’s lowkey scared because even though he’s toured and flown to various countries to perform at this point, he still has the anxiety
he wants to be so good to his fans, wants to do his best now that he’s come so far to the point he essentially sacrifices a chance at a relatively ordinary life
but then, he starts overworking too
seojun’s never been the best dancer, you know; he could always make up for it with singing, but he still?? doesnt feel like it’s enough???
and then one day sujin just comes barging in at his apartment, mad, because seojun’s had a fever and couldn’t train for two days now and turns out?? he hasn’t really been eating as much as he should, or he’s not drinking as much as he should
that was the first time sujin showed any sense of familiarity from their high school days
she gave him a good whip, talks to his doctors, and adjusts his diet according to his schedules and for the next week, she sorta comes quite frequently to make sure even when he’s training, he’s doing okay
seojun comments that she’s “scarier” than his last nutrionist, and sujin’s like, “good. it means you’ll listen to me.”
one day, he starts asking her to stay just a while instead of just leaving, which she always does, and he’s like “have a beer. what, you have a strict diet too?” and sujin reluctantly stays? even tho she’s awkward and quiet
finally seojun’s like, “why did u pretend u didn’t recognise me?”
and sujin’s just.... “didn’t you hate me?” referring to what she did to jugyeong (implying the k-drama events i assume?? but imma keep this vague as hell) and she just, “i did something horrible to the girl you love.”
and because this is seojun, esp their dynamics dkjhksdhf, he’s just straight up, “yeah. you were a bitch.” because to him, that was the facts, you know
sujin sorta stays quiet, but then she puts the beer down and like?? “i don’t have to explain anything to you.” but seojun’s like!!!!! thats not what he meant!!! and hes just, “hey no! sit. you just started relaxing, right?”
but after a minute he comments under his breath, “i didn’t know you were this sensitive.”
but then sujin quietly replied, “she was my friend. i loved her too.”
and that sorta got the two of them quiet, but then seojun decided to change the topic because its Its_Too_Awkward.jpeg, “last i heard u were gonna be a doctor. your dad’s professor Kang right? he treated my mom.”
and that sorta??? causes sujin to tense up, but then she deflects with a snappish, “why are you so interested in me?” “i’m not! i’m just asking questions.” “i should be asking you questions - why the hell did you think it was a good idea to pull the shit u did now that your touring schedule is in the talks? how are you supposed to perform if you can’t even stand?” “aish, didn’t you already nag me?” “you’re so stupid, i’m scared you’ve forgetten”
they started bickering again but that night was really what triggered for sujin to be a little more relaxed with seojun, and for seojun to sorta - try a bit harder to?? not be friendlier, no, but he likes that he’s known her from an era in his life where he didn’t have to always be a face in the screen.
more and more, seojun asks sujin to stay and have dinner after she’s done evaluating his weekly meals and they have a better comradeship
he starts anticipating her more when she comes to evaluate another idol or something at the agency and he’s just!!!!!!! “you’re here? why are you here? did u miss me already? what do u mean i’m not the only one you’re treating”
and then slowly we also found out why she didn’t become a doctor (she didn’t wanna follow her dad; and she still carries the guilt of what she did to jugyeong and admitted, more than the result of her father’s anger, she likes the version of her who always wants to help others - and, she can memorises easily, so... nutritionist didn’t seem bad)
sujin starts bringing in board games or sometimes she sneaks a few of supermarket-brand goods since seojun’s been behaving with his meals and vitamin intakes, and the one time seojun’s invited to a tv show where it has quizes, she tutors him the whole night so he “doesnt make a fool out of himself”
she also starts to keep up with whatever show he’s in, and she’s always texting him that she’s watched him with this horrible washed-out screenshot because she takes the photo on her laptop with her phone. and her texts are all “the dance was good” and “you’ve improved that move huh” and then sometimes “idiot. why did u answer like that”
sujin makes fun of her for not being able to take a clean screenshot, but he never really leaves her un-replied
and they started talking about relationships - how they were both so enamoured with suho and jugyeong respectively, and for sujin specially, how she can’t wait to be loved by someone who can make her feel like suho’s not a big deal at all
but then she admits she doesn’t think she deserves to be loved, and sorta has this sad smile, and seojun confesses that he’s scared if he loves someone, he has to lose them due to his career
and they’re really sad about it, but the night also isn’t as bad cause they had each other
and ok i have a LOT more i think - and i honestly dk how nutritionist actually works BUT. yes. them.

10.16: a certain doom
spoilers (both general and caryl) under the cut:
the episode iiiiiissss not super worth the six month wait (like in general, not vis a vis caryl)
it’s marginally more exciting than the penultimate episode
marginally
i think the problem is they utilized time poorly, so the attack on hilltop was Amazing, but then they accidentally forgot to make the end of the war suspenseful or interesting lol
that being said, it had its moments, so let’s break it down, shall we?
first off, caryl have a brief scene in the beginning in the stairwell where daryl is telling carol that michonne left, and he’s like “everybody leaves and then i never see them again :( “ and carol is like “...i haven’t left” and daryl goes “-sure jan-” and leaves carol looking like a hurt puppy bc she thinks he still hasn’t forgiven her/never really will, more on that later
lydia and carol have a scene where lydia is like:
Tumblr media
and carol was like “that’s cuz you should hate me and shouldn’t try and look to me for advice, go find your own way in life” and lydia says “k i’m not asking you to be my mom, i’m asking if we can be bros, but w/e, i’m sure this conversation isn’t foreshadowing to an event that will happen later”
more on that later
princess & crew broke their bikes so they were running late to the rendezvous, and eugene was about to give up, but zeke gave an empowering speech about Never Giving Up (which is kinda weird coming from a dude with cancer whose wife left him and whose son got murdered, but w/e, you get on with your optimistic self, zeke) and convinced him to carry on, more on that later
(here’s an exclusive sneak peek at the scene tho:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there’s a two hour long scene of our main peeps walking through the giant horde covered in guts, which would be more interesting if they didn’t do that all the time
beatrice got eaten which would have been more of a bummer if i remembered who beatrice was
it did get lydia involved in the fight tho, so that’s something
side note: negan gave lydia alpha’s mask as if it was supposed to be symbolic or something, instead of incredibly traumatizing to this little girl whose abusive mother just got her head chopped off, like couldn’t she have just put guts on like the other people? ok, my dude, way to be a surrogate father figure ig
while carol is still stuck in the horde daryl asks where carol is, which has been the majority of his lines this season
they try to lead the horde away by blasting talking heads, which is a little on the nose but entertaining nonetheless, but then carol had to go and say “protect the horses,” which is a guarantee that the horses will get eaten, bc it’s twd, so whomp whomp, they lose their apparently only plan for leading the horde away
(how have they not learned better by now?)
(better question: how are there any horses left??)
daryl has an unintentionally funny line where he’s like, “k so this is a super shitty idea, and i am aware of that, but let’s just go fucking kill all of the whisperers”
lydia then volunteers to go throw herself off a cliff to get rid of the horde, and daryl brushes her off, more on that later
anyway they go and just. kill all the whisperers ig? including beta? whose death took like two seconds and involved a brief flashback montage and was incredibly anticlimactic for how fucking badass he was (negan draws him away, daryl stabs him the eyes, which was kinda cool, and then he goes and stands in the middle of the horde and smiles wistfully while he’s eaten alive, like a normal person would do)
up at headquarters gabriel is about to get murdered by whisperers, but then maggie and her masked friend somehow make it past the entire horde and up the stairs in time to save him
sure
cut to lydia leading the entire horde to the cliff, but then carol jumps in and tells her to go and that she’ll do it, and is about to go for a fun tumble, BUT THEN lydia pulls her away and they have a brief argument about it
their whole plotline this episode is very:
Tumblr media
anyway
what follows is what’s meant to be a heartwarming scene between the two of them where they put aside all their baggage and hug each other and realize they’re stronger together than at odds, and objectively it’s a good scene, but i couldn’t stop laughing bc they kept showing the walkers falling off the cliff and it looked SO STUPID, it was hilarious
they just. literally kept just stepping off the cliff and falling like bricks askdfljs
and then lydia went and threw alpha’s mask off the cliff and that Did Not make it less funny
idk, i’m probably just a bad person, but it was super fucking funny, anyway
maggie reunited with judith, which was actually very sweet, esp when you remember that she delivered her (in the most traumatic way possible)
the caryl scene was nice. i had to watch it a couple times before i decided how nice, bc like everything else in the episode it felt kind of rushed, but essentially carol and lydia return, and daryl is standing in the exact position he was standing in “no sanctuary”, bc apparently that’s how he leans on trees, and carol approaches him super warily, and they both stare at each other, and carol asks him if he’s good, and he is visibly trying not to cry when he goes “yeah. it’s over. right?” and she says yes, and he asks her if she got what she wanted, and she says no, and he tells her she still has him, and she’s like “yeah?” while crying, bc, per earlier interaction, she was p sure she was never gonna get him back entirely, and he says yeah, and then they hug, and carol makes a little sob noise, and daryl buries his face in her shoulder and is teary, too, and then daryl brings up new mexico, and carol says “maybe someday” and daryl deffo looks disappointed but agrees, and then carol has her “we still have things to do, i’m clearly saying this as a set up for dramatic scenes that are about to follow” line
cue dramatic things following
connie is alive (we been knew), but is banged tf up, and runs into virgil. or more like collapses on the ground and virgil finds her and they stare blankly at each other until connie passes out
and then we jump back to princess & crew, who are sitting there bummed out bc stephanie isn’t there, and eugene is like, “bc of zeke’s wise words, i am Not Giving Up, we set out to find and recruit people (did they? i literally don’t remember) and so that’s what we’ll do!”
and it’s a Big Moment of Solidarity and Strength
for all of five seconds, bc they are then accosted by stormtroopers, who presumably work for commonwealth. whether or not commonwealth is building a death star is unclear at this time, but i suppose we’ll find out soon
cue end credits!
so overall: the episode occurred. it wasn’t like, devastatingly disappointing, in that the penultimate episode didn’t really set me up for any sort of big anticipation, and also i had spoilers ahead of time. i wish there had been more time for things like beta’s death to be played out properly, but i wonder also if they were limited on what they could do bc of pandemic shit and trying to get it edited as quickly as possible
as it stands, even tho the whisperers are my favorite twd villains, i’m glad they didn’t do what they did with the saviors and have it drag on for ten million years for no reason
the bottle episodes should be interesting, and prob will lead us into commonwealth, which, again, not sure on the status of the death star, but i’m excited to see what happens regardless
on the caryl front i’m about where i was before, which is fully anticipating canon coming, and my guess is the season will really heavily set up their departure, which means we will have many more scenes to come
the end
as usual, stay hype, stan kang, and get daryl to call carol sweetheart 2k20 (i still have three months left, i’m not giving up yet, zeke wouldn’t want me to),

Well in the comics, the Gwen Stacy native to Miles’ original reality became Carnage after dying and coming back (they were actually going to adapt this plotline to the The Amazing Spider-Man films before the MCU reboot) while there was no Miles in Gwen’s reality due to his father never meeting his mother, instead becoming a crime boss known as the Scorpion. Then the Miles from what would be Peter B. Parker’s reality would be closer in age to him and the Kingpin’s old cellmate, who was literally the black John Wick. Literally, that’s his backstory. Except after his wife dies, Kingpin tells him about the multiverse and how he once searched for his own wife there after she died before realising they were no different and he shouldn’t — this Miles nonetheless decides to and has Kingpin fake his death while he selves into his research more, then not noticing the younger alternate reality we slinging version of himself swinging around reality when they come into town. After switching realities and marrying his wife again, Miles returns after she dies again, and becomes a new Giant-Man-esque crime boss known as Ultimatum. So any of those could work.
holy cow. i forget how often marvel comics just go gonzo with it. i never thought about how maybe there is a miles and a gwen in peter b. parker's reality but theyd be older!! what a cool idea. still, considering they wanted to get tobey macguire to voice peter b. parker for a while, i think he's meant to be a pastiche of the raimi spiderman and amazing spiderman and not map exactly to a comics equivalent. same thing with gwen's world, i could definitely see there being no miles there, but i dont think its supposed to map exactly so i dont think anything is certain
also i think the story of that alternate miles is so crazy that it would have to be either comic relief or a major driving force of the plot. like its so scifi operatic that i dont think you could both play it straight and mention it off-hand
i do appreciate the in-depth answer tho! this is why i need to read more comics lol, just to get context for it

ohhh is that the drama where exes have to film a documentary or something? i've seen it around and it looks like fic inspo 👀 is it good? but omg enemies to lovers to enemies LOL. ikr what happened to goedam :(( and i guess hyunjae's webdrama didn't do well enough to be continued? although.... it's supposedly.... the most popular thing on that youtube channel LMAOOO
i am also very uncreative omg sometimes i read other people's fics esp if it's a fantasy or magical realism kind of world or has a cool concept and i'm like.... how do you come up with this??? nothing wrong with cliches tho!! but yeahh going out and doing stuff deffs helps with inspo haha
