i feel like we all perceive the suitors differently based on who we are and idk why or what compelled me to make this post but i’m sharing anyways

i’ve seen people hc sexualities and i feel like i have a unique view because im ace but i also don’t call characters gay just because? i have never developed feelings for anyone nor do i participate in discussions about who’s hot and who’s not. im kinda not wired that way so i feel like that makes my perspective different.

i think it’s interesting when people call the suitors gay and ship them because they’re actually straight, meant for a female audience. it’s not heterosexual content and i think it really comes down to how the characters are written, and the type of person viewing the characters.

jin is straight there’s literally no arguing this one. his love of women is very intense but he’s just being one of the bros unapologetically? i think everyone can agree on this one.

chevalier hear me out is ace. i bet he’s the type to read erotica with a straight face and it truly is for the plot. it doesn’t bother him and he doesn’t pay attention to that kind of thing. if we take out the otome aspect out of ikepri, he’d just be aroace fr. and i think this way because he tells emma to prove that romance and love has worth. so i don’t see him attracted to men and i don’t think he’s attracted to women either he just falls in love with emma because she’s the beauty to his beast romance?

clavis probably is also ace, gray ace. in my post about ace hc’s i said he’s probably ace and im pretty sure that was before his route came out and now after having played it, i still stand by that. i think sexual attraction isn’t important to clavis. i think he’s more worried about abandonment and figuring out if this person is his ride or die kind of person. i just think his priorities are different and maybe that’s why it seems like he comes off as ace. i do not see him being attracted to men.

leon is straight. maybe it’s jin’s influence and i see them as very similar. maybe it’s purely just my perception of him. i have heard that some people think his bi because everyone is charmed by him? but i just don’t see him reciprocating that kind of preference to guys. i think he also has a hard time reciprocating energy towards women too. idk i guess i imagined him talking to a nice girl, everything’s going well, but his stomach drops as he reminds himself that he’s a fake. he doesn’t let people get too close to him otherwise he will get eaten alive by the guilt from deceiving them but he’s also afraid to tell them. i mean how is he supposed to tell his partner when he hasn’t told his closest brothers? the brothers that he’s grown up with and grown close to? i also just think he’d be enthusiastic about being a dad and starting a family because he didn’t know his parents and he didn’t even have the luxury of having leon’s parents either so i think it would mean a lot to him to start a family and give his kids a mom and a dad. wait this isn’t a post about just leon i got carried away oops but does this mean i think leon is ace? nah he’s just afraid that his insecurity in his identity will damage the relationships he has and the illusion of leon.

yves is ace i don’t care what they say his spicy content feels very performative and fan service-y to me. i said he’s ace in my ace hc post too so i still stand by that. he gets embarrassed when he talks about it so i don’t think he’s really comfortable in his sexuality? me personally i project onto yves just a bit?? like im just gonna say that desire does not equal sexual attraction because i get confused and uncomfortable about it sometimes so i have to remind myself. i think he wants to participate in those types of acts but feels conflicted. also i know he’s the resident femboy and that’s more likely to get him labeled as gay or something but i actually don’t see him being into men but we know he’s an ally from that one bond story of his.

licht, i swear im not doing this on purpose because of my own biases, but he’s ace too bro. he doesn’t really pay attention to sexuality and attraction and stuff. or maybe the more traumatized or mentally ill they are the more i think they’re ace. wait that’s not true i’ll get to nokto after this. yeah idk licht is depressed af so he don’t have time to think “mmh men” or “mmh women” or “mmmhh both” there’s no attraction until after he established a relationship so yeah i guess he’s demisexual.

nokto is gay. okay fine i’ll say bi. weeell ok not naming names but kinda because it’s a small fandom and it’s not hard to figure out. but my perception of him has definitely been influenced by fandom. now i just think he likes men

luke is honestly i don’t know i guess he’s straight. he doesn’t do sus things and he just seems like what jin was like before his addiction to breasts and to “the sand in the hourglass” (assuming jin wasn’t always a pervert like that).

i do not have enough information on gilbert

keith is straight you cannot tell me he wouldn’t have a wife and 10 kids if he was born a commoner. he’d be a farmer just plowing the fields, growing medicinal plants, and providing for his family. he just seems like a straight up guy (see what i did there) making an honest living and obeying his wife who is in charge of the household.

silvio is another straight guy. attracted to women but doesn’t want to be because his money attracts the wrong kind of women.

rio also straight he’s probably only attracted to emma actually so yeah i know we joke about it but i think this guy really just only likes emma

finishing off the list strong with my sariel ace hc. yeah he’s giving the “i’m too busy with work/school” ace tbh. he’s like the professional guy that ignores the flirting but every once in a while it does affect him if he’s interested. but i don’t think he experiences much attraction and maybe he doesn’t have time either?

Hey, ive been a fan of your cultstuck series since i first read it 10 years ago and its one that i hold dear along woth toastyglow and their siblings' works. Given that we are all adults now with very busy lives, i dont expect you to kerp up with an old project like writing a fan novel fpr free, but i am curious as what ur current plants for earthbent are, if there are any atm.

(Tbh id be happy with any answer you provide, whether its a detailed outline, an unsure shrug, an excited wink hinting at a deadline or an announcement of permanent hiatus. Youve given so much with your writing, thst i just want you to be happy with whatever plans u have)

hey there! i'm going to go with unsure shrug as an answer here.

see, I did have a detailed outline for cultstuck-- i wrote it all down at around ...2015? very soon after the second eridan chapter, and sent it to my beta, who then proceeded to ghost me forever. I was already sensing she was growing disinterested in the fic/the fandom, giving constant excuses, and I myself was dealing with an anxiety/depression combo that would sharply nosedive by the time the finale came around, so i just... let it go. She didn't care. I wasn't in a good mental place to care. We went our separate ways.

I decided to take a mental health sabbatical, and now, after a few years of sertraline and therapy, the thought of picking it back up is very, very far down my list of priorities. I have so many other fics I want to write, for media which hasn't let me this profoundly down! And also, Cultstuck was conceptualized in the post-cascade hiatus, in chat logs and rough outlines, and was never supposed to take later canon into account unless it dropped any interesting, matching lore...

...but late act 6 took such a dump on the characters and the setting that it took the joy right out of playing on my patch of sandbox, fenced off as it was. And I couldn't connect with the Retcon timeline at all, but some of its developments are so popular and so deeply entrenched that I hesitate to contradict them even though i kind of hate the whole thing and never meant to take it into account?

Let's take the strongest example: Davekat. Dave and Karkat in Cultstuck were never meant to be anything more than mutually annoying acquaintances connected only indirectly via Terezi-- Dave was to be her moirail, and aro-ace besides. This was because for the entirety of the comic, that was the only vibe I got from Dave as a character, and from his interactions with Karkat as a whole-- he and Karkat felt too similar in mutually unpleasant ways, like a cousin that's just enough like you to give you second-hand embarrassment. So by the point the comic was playing coy with pushing the New Dave and New Karkat action figures together, you couldn't get me to care about Davekat if you put a gun to my head. This really hasn't changed in the least. And that means whenever I think of dealing with disappointed Davekat fans in the future of the fic, I just feel an all-encompassing, soul-deep exhaustion.

but i also don't want to drop the fic altogether, for some reason? Like, I might not feel this way forever. So idk, i'm keeping my options open i guess. Subscribe to the fic/series and maybe 10 years from now you'll get a notification like a holiday miracle. Who knows.

you want for nothing if you are loved by kalim. whether it’s smothering your faces with kisses when you’re sick or whisking you away for an impromptu ride on a magic carpet anywhere in the isle of the sages, kalim is aware he has a blessed life and he wishes to share that life with you wholly. a family, kalim wants to incorporate you in all of his families and vice versa. while at school, the whole of scarabia is your family. your family is his family. and, of course, kalim’s exceedingly large family is yours for as long as you’ll have him. kalim chooses to believe in the good of the world and trusts that in spite of the bad, the world will give back what it receives. he believes meeting you is no different and returns the world’s generosity in full in how much effort he puts into maintaining your relationship. he’s more than your boyfriend, he’s one of your best friends. someone you can dance with when you’re happy, someone you can lean on when you’re not at your strongest and he knows that he can trust you to be the same for him. in the rare chance he hasn’t thought of marriage, his parents definitely have plans to add you to the family.

if you were to ask jamil whether or not he believes in the concept of soulmates, he’d probably scoff. “are you seriously asking me that?” that’s a childish concept kalim and najma would believe in, not someone like himー but his actions say otherwise. the man is a romantic, a hopeless one at that. while your relationship might have started with you initially being a pawn in jamil’s game of currying favor among the student body, true feelings developed on his part. romance was the last thing on jamil’s list of priorities and yet him being with you just makes sense, like a law of the universe. the cycle of the universe is one cyclical in nature, what happens once will surely happen again and jamil doesn’t doubt your relationship works the same way. this life into the next. he still wishes to make a name for himself yes, but the thought of a domestic life with you in tandem with those hypothetical accomplishments isn’t far from his mind either. but this aspect of jamil stays strictly between the both of you. he wouldn’t be able to live it down if others knew about this side of himself.

leona

getting together with leona was needlessly hard in the beginning for the man refused to acknowledge the feelings he had for you. he outright rejected them. wanting things in the past regardless of how hard he worked for them never worked in the past, why would they in the present? it took serious reflection and (unwanted but needed) advice from his friends to take the steps to accept how he felt and move forward. a relationship of this nature is new territory for leona but blind as he might be, he walks forward with confidence. he isn’t the best at words but he shows he loves you in his actions. in how he holds your hand when you’re scared, in the small but warm smile he wears when he sees your victories and in how he drags you out to the botanical garden for a nap if you’re working well-beyond your limits. those moments with you comfort him as much as he hopes they comfort you. despite his gruffness, leona is a thoughtful lover and he pays attention to you more than you initially think. don’t be surprised if you off-handedly mention something you’d like to what you think is an inattentive boyfriend. a week later, leona will present it to you nonchalantly and raise an eyebrow when you look surprised. of course he listens to you when you ramble, dork.

ruggie

looking out for number 1 might come naturally to ruggie, but he is surprisingly mature and knowledgeable with matters of the heart. as such, he surrenders easily to his feelings when he is aware of them and doesn’t hesitate to tell you how he feels. as far as he saw it at the time, he could either come to terms with things and ask you out and know if you feel the same way. or he could fight it and end up losing his chance to be with you because someone else with their shit together asked you out first. it was a pretty clear choice. ruggie prides himself in being dependable as your boyfriend and enjoys doting on you as much as he enjoys teasing. ruggie might poke fun at your room being messy but he is already rolling his arms up to sweep as he speaks. ruggie is well aware that there are plenty of people out there who have him beat in certain areas, but ruggie also knows there are plenty of things that he does excellently. while your own acknowledgement of those things isn’t necessary, it pleases him nonetheless. he might not be able to give you bundles of extravagant gifts, but he is able to get you plenty with his skills at haggling.

jack

queen of swords, knight of wands, the chariot, king of swords

another one who is pretty in-tune with his emotions and doesn’t hesitate to tell you how he feels. what’s the point in lying to you or himself about how he feels? when you look good, he says it. when you look like you’re having a rough time, jack says he might not be able to make your troubles go away but he’ll try. his honesty is endearing most of the time. jack tells it to you straight, good, bad and in between. he wants you to feel this way as well. if there’s a problem with the relationship, how is he supposed to fix it if you don’t tell him anything? jack says things bluntly, but he will find ways to soften his words if he sees that certain levels of bluntness hurt you. surprisingly not against pda; if you’re within an arm’s reach, jack will have an arm around you to hold you close. it’s not so much about letting everyone in a three mile radius know you’re taken ーwell part of it isー he just enjoys feeling you close and smelling your scent. jack wouldn’t call himself prince charming or anything, but he quick to come to your ‘rescue’ even if he knows you can handle yourself. 2 against however many is a lot better than just 1, just know that jack is your backup.

Book 5 & Beginning of 6 Thoughs

(SPOILERS DOWN BELOW)

• BOOK 5 IS HANDS DOWN MY FAV BOOK SO FAR

• ok so regarding book 5, i really came to love vil sm more than i thought, he was relatable and had good material for why he did what he did, i felt so sorry for him throughout the story and he didn’t deserve the pain he got

• also the fact he was always beautiful just too beautiful put me in pain

• wow i don’t hate neige like i thought i would, he’s an amazing person and balances out a lot from what we’ve seen of the other characters

• grim overblot being canon now makes me so happy for some reason?? maybe just angst

• im so happy ace and deuce didn’t give the money for ramschakle, because everyone else is stupidly rich and doesn’t need it

• vil apologizing made my heart for him grow, he for some noteworthy character development that was lacking in a lot of the overblots tbh

• jamil pissed me off sm, he got pushed down on my fav character list for sure, he was just so like annoying and not grateful in my opinion

• ESPECIALLY WHEN DEUCE LITERALLY SAVED THEM

Sex repulsed: Gotenks-kun.  Like if he were older

Like i underatsnd that he’s only around for 30 minutes at a time but IDKKKK if he were around for longer we’d see him say shit like “NO WAY SISTER. I don’t go for that. Back off. I’m abstinence until I die. Radical!” and then he’d do a kickflip. Ugh TBH tho if Gotenks were your teenage son honestly you’d be worried about him going into puberty becasue, judging by his temperance and exuberance as a youth, you would just assume that you’d have to keep your boy on a tight leash. Like he’s gonna be chatting up ALL the chicks. But if anything, entering that age stunted his charisma a bit. He still has his charm but sometimes there’s this trepidation when talking to girls for the first time, before the relationship settles into a comfortable friendship. And you don’t know what that’s all about until he’s 16 and standing in the kitchen and is like “hey can I. Can I ask you something.” and he confides that he wants a GF but he doesnt want her to, like, be coming at him asking for sex...! He likes girls BUT he gets so weird about them becasue he doesnt want to accidentally lead them to think that he’d be down for that :(. You do your best as a parent and tell him that for the love of goodness gracious do NOT do the sex then. First of all, (insert sex risks here). Second of all, it’s just one of those things that you shouldnt do if you dont want to do! Gotenks is like “i think it’s so weird and yucky WHAT DOES EVERYONE ELSE SEE IN IT ?” and you tell him that everyone else must be stupid. Then when he’s 17 he has a girlfriend and as far as you can tell things are going well, and you feel confident that your boy isnt doing shit he shouldnt be doing, but one day he comes home a tad after curfew and he seems frazzled and jarred and disturbed in the face and he sort of slinks off to his room and shuts the door. Later at 11 pm before you go to bed you catch him in the kitchen making a smoothie with literally all the fruit he can find in the fridge. He’s standing with his back to you cutting up a pear and there is grapefruit juice all over the counter and the blender is already half-full and he’s got Butter Pecan ice cream out becasue it’s the ice cream you happen to have and he’s gonna put it in the blender. And you ask him if he’s alright and slowly but surely he confides in you that he was hanging out with his girlfriend and he did something that he doesnt feel good about. He had told his GF that sex was OFF of the table, and his GF had blindsided him by suggesting compromises. Gotenks, while cutting mold spots off of strawberries, says that he had been blindsided becasue he hadnt considered compromises and he didnt have time to develop a proper emotional response and she had suggested hand stuff and he had said OK and now hes in the fucking kitchen at 11 pm saying shit like “sooo i jerked off my girlfriend.” and you the parent have to be like “I take it you’re in distress over this?” and hes like “yeah. Yknow. I thought that I would be mature and cool and okay with this. But I’m pretty fucking far from okay.” Yknow

Overelaborate thoughts on Marley/Jake

(In which a grown woman gets too invested in Glee seasons no one cares about)

So Season 5 huh. 

So here’s my thing. I will watch a TV show do something unrelentingly stupid, I will yell “What the hell were they thinking?!” and then I will sit down and see if I can actually answer that question. 

In S4, Marley and Jake were sweet. The ‘womaniser’ falling for Local Sweetheart, and genuinely being supportive - when Marley isn’t comfortable with sex, he waits, and is sure to not pressure her. Even if, yes, he wants it, making sure she’s comfortable is his priority (and yes it makes my ace heart happy)

In season 5, er, Jake shouts at Marley for not wanting to sleep with him, and immediately cheats on her. Cue end of the relationship. 

So. 

Let’s acknowledge the first bit of context - the newbies were abruptly kicked off the show midway through S5 for a soft reboot that was better than it had any right to be. One could assume that the relationship would have been continued had the show gone on with them present, as opposed to abruptly writing out anyone not from the first three seasons.

As an end, though, this was a slap in the face to anyone invested in the S4 characters. (Admittedly there don’t seem to be many of us)

It’s a clear-cut bit of bad writing, right? Well, here’s the unfortunate kicker: I like the S5 plot for Jake.

Don’t get me wrong, I loathed it when I first watched it. But time passed, and S5 started to begin to make more sense to me. I still think it has its share of major flaws, especially the first thirteen episodes, but certain beats make a degree of sense to me in a meta sense, even if trying to puzzle out an in-universe justification is the pathway to madness. Still, it gives me a lens through which to view it that at least gives me something to appreciate. 

The Newbies

There’s an accusation that the S4 new cast are just tired rehashes of the old. I used to hold this position, admittedly, but I don’t anymore. Kitty gets likened to Quinn for being the new, mean head cheerleader - but the trajectory of her character is very different to Quinn’s. In the same way, while it’s easy to say Jake is the new Puck, his arc puts him in a very different role. 

So let’s talk about those arcs. I would say that what makes the S4 cast distinct from the old is how their characters were supposed to develop, even if the realisation was sometimes lacking. Kitty starts out mean and generally kind of awful to everyone, but slowly morphs to a character who is genuinely protective and supportive and more self-aware without any drama over her life goals. Jake, ostensibly, begins as a womaniser, but becomes softer and more romantic in a way that makes him significantly more straightforwardly sweet than Puck. 

But if we’re talking season 4, we have to acknowledge that it tried to do way too much, carrying plots in McKinley and New York together, and inevitably there was a price. These characters have development, but you don’t have instigating incidents - they don’t get the equivalent of Quinn’s pregnancy subplot, or Puck realising his prospects, or Santana accepting her sexuality, or Kurt meeting Blaine and growing in confidence... The characters change, but there’s no clear reason why.

Which brings us to season 5, which opens with Kitty and Artie beginning a relationship, playing off a light bit of chemistry towards the end of S4. It’s cute, and Kitty goes from wanting it to be secret to avoid the inevitable drama from Mean Cheerleader #4 Bree if she ends up dating Glee-clubber Artie, to openly deciding, whatever, she likes him, screw the consequences to her social standing. 

It’s cute. And one can imagine that story happening midway through S4, say, and it would serve as a motivating factor for Kitty’s shift from cruel bully to protective friend - she realises what matters more to her. 

Which seems to be some of the intent of S5. It takes characters who developed in S4, realises they never properly justified that development, and gives them an extra arc where the end state matches who they were at the end of S4. 

What The Fuckerman

So let’s talk about Jake. 

He has something of a chip on his shoulder - he and Puck’s dad is established as deadbeat, sleeping with multiple women and bailing when they’re pregnant, and just generally being kind of a jerk. Jake does not like him. 

So then we have this kid, who has a reputation as a flirt, falling for a girl who doesn’t want to sleep with him, deciding to not be faithful. He sleeps with Bree, who has a pregnancy scare, and for a moment Jake is afraid he’s going to be a teenage dad, that he’s going to have to shift focus in light of that - and Bree, similarly, obviously isn’t exactly thrilled. It turns out to just be a false alarm, but it’s something that clearly gets to Jake. 

He was about to be just like his dad. Have a kid he couldn’t support, and wander off to another girl. And that realisation changes him. 

In of itself, it isn’t a bad arc. It would be a nice bit of backstory to see him re-orient his priorities and life and realise that he cares more about the relationship with Marley, someone that loves him, than mindless cliche womanising that makes him more like the man he hates. It is honestly a better plot than he gets in S4. If the newbies had stayed on the show, you could see this serving as a reason for Jake to be a better boyfriend in future - and this is the quiet implication for the aftermath. 

The problem here is twofold. One, we don’t get that follow-up. It’s half a story thrown in and left on a bad note. And two, Jake doesn’t need that development. In season 4, he was already faithful, already content, already good. 

But that doesn’t mean the S5 storyline is a bad arc, it just means that it’s horribly placed. Like, horribly placed. Horribly placed. 

It’s not a bad story inherently, it just needed to come about before we saw Jake stop being who he ostensibly used to be. 

So how many soft reboots are there in S5 anyway?

So let’s talk about what should have been - and what, maybe, was the intent. 

Marley is a sweetheart. Just objectively, even Sue couldn’t insult her. Jake is set up as that cliche bad boy, who Marley is warned against dating - but for all that warning, Jake as a boyfriend in S4 was always just... nice. He’s never jealous, never wanting, always putting Marley first. Which is definitely a good thing, but half the Glee club is wary of Marley dating him even when he’s never anything except sweet. They’re the classic ‘opposites attract’ only they are never actually depicted as significant opposites. 

There’s a definite disconnect here, and I think what S5 tried to do was correct it - Jake isn’t a sex-obsessed cheater, but he starts out as someone not looking for any relationship beyond sex, and ends up finding more value in his relationship with Marley. He has an arc, but it’s over with too quickly. 

If the S5 plot happened in S4, what we’d get would be a sensible character arc - Jake is made to realise what matters to him the most and that he doesn’t like the path he’s on or who he’s growing to be like, and then is left hoping Marley will forgive him, leading to a reunion a little way down the line. A bit of drama, a character arc, no different from Klaine and Brittana and Finnchel breaking up with one another several times over the show’s run. It would be a genuinely solid storyline that ends in the same place, but has more meat to it on the way. 

S5 is an attempt at a redo, to justify Jake’s arc with more Glee-level drama. Through the lens of that redo (which, let’s face it, Ryder quit the Glee Club in the S4 finale and yet was sitting around happily in S5, there is very little continuity between those two seasons) then the storyline is, at least, significantly more bearable. I’ve seen people call Jake’s arc a circle, and I’d agree in practice, though I prefer to see it more as a Z. Who Jake is at the end of the S5 storyline, is who he was in S4 - justified better, but timed worse. 

But it shouldn’t have been allowed to be the end of their story. That, more than anything, is the worst part of this all. 

And isn’t that the most Glee paradox of them all? One criticism you could level at the S4 cast was that they lacked any hard-hitting arcs on the level of Quinn’s pregnancy or Kurt’s transfer, but the one time the cast got that, it was too late and it ended up dooming them for good.

Ouroboros IF - FAQ

When is the next update? Let’s just get this one over with right off the bat -- I don’t know! When I started writing Ouro, I saw it as a hobby project to get all that pent up creative energy out after working a soulsucking job. If I gain enough momentum and support on monetary sites such as Patreon and Ko-fi, I do have dreams of scaling back my work hours to focus on getting regular updates out. Alas, it is a lofty dream. In writing as a hobby, there is an ebb and flow in how I work on Ouro. Some weeks my keyboard is on fire, others it’s collecting dust. I can’t force myself to write when I’m bogged down with other stuff, it just turns into mindless, boring writing. I expect that to change as I grow used to writing regularly, but I’m still learning that! For now, I ask you to be patient with me; I love working on Ouroboros so much, but sometimes there just isn’t enough time or energy to do so. Besides being a complete novice at coding, Ouroboros is a beast of a story, and it grows exponentially with every chapter as more and more variables become relevant. Rest assured that I work on it as much as I possibly can.

Is there a discord/patreon/ko-fi? Not yet. There will be announcements made when I launch either of the above; I just need the time and bravery to take the plunge. If you’d like to create a fan-made discord, just let me know so I can lurk it.  👀

How many parts do you expect Ouroboros to have / How long is the story? For now, it’s planned to be a duology with part 1 being the shorter, more plot focused part, to really allow you to sink your teeth into the world and characters. Part 1 will still contain romance, but part 2 will have heavy branching depending on what character your MC romances. I might even split into 3 parts if part 2 gets too long. I don’t have any estimates on what the wordcounts for each game will be, as this is my first foray into writing a CYOA game, but Ouroboros is an epic science-fantasy with all that implies. It will not be a short story, that’s for sure.

Where and when will the full game be released? This is very far off still, but I plan to submit the game to hosted games when it is finished. This might change. I have a year of development for Ouroboros part 1 as a goal, but I am very lenient on that.

Are N/S/F/W questions ok to ask? They are absolutely welcome, however until I have launched discord/patreon/ko-fi, there won’t be any explicit content on tumblr. I answer the asks that I can answer implicitly.

Will there be a love-triangle route? No! We talk about our emotions here! The emotions explored in a love-triangle might be present.

Will there be poly-routes? I’m thinking about it, but it is not a priority for now.

Will there be asexual/ace routes? That is the plan! Though they will be written “last”, so to speak, as I want to write out the heavy romance first to understand how the characters would feel about it, to figure out where asexuality sits in their relationships. This is not to say that me or the characters will be reluctant to ace MC’s, quite the opposite. I’m just inexperienced in writing this and it will take lots of research and feedback to get right. I will also have to choose which part of the ace spectrum I want represented in Ouro, which is not an easy task as it is such a broad subject!

Will there be platonic routes? Though friendships with the RO’s are entirely possible, Ouroboros is a romance at it’s core. Your MC has the option to reject any relationships but you might find the content lacking if you do. 

You will always be able to opt out of any N/S/F/W scenes, too.

Will there be RO POV’s? Yes.

Can my MC romance L even if they were just friends? Yes, that’s in my planning!

Can I use your art of the characters as my profile picture/avatar? You can, and I’m honored! :> If you want to use any of the fanart, please talk to that artist first.

Can I suggest choices or scenarios for in-game Ouroboros? Absolutely! Some might not make it into the game for one reason or another, but I cherish the suggestions you come up with; they spur my creativity. Suggestions are more than welcome.

Where do I submit bug-reports? Either here through tumblr, or on the forum. Thank you for taking the time to locate them!

How often do you answer asks? Whenever I can. I can go through periods where I only reblog stuff and don’t have any energy to answer anything, but they usually don’t last very long. If you see me goofing on tumblr when your ask still waits for an answer, I can promise you that I’m not ignoring it; I just need some down-time to recharge my social battery.

Hey! I am sorry if you’ve been asked this a million times but I’ve recently been struggling with understanding my feelings and I just thought I’d share them.

I’ve been happily identifying as Ace for a few years now and I am pretty sure that it is the right label for me. Recently, I’ve been questioning wether or not I might be aro too.

Obviously, that wouldn’t be a problem or anything but it’s just turned my world upside down a little bit. I guess, somehow I always imagined that all those love stories that I adore writing for all my fictional characters would come true for me too. And the thought that I might just not be able to feel things like that just made me a bit sad. (I know that sounds silly)

I thought about it for a while now and I think I really never had a crush on anyone (I think I just liked the attention that I got more than the person themselves) and getting a partner is just not a very important part of my life. Whenever I see people actually trying to search for Love I can’t help but wonder why they would go through all that trouble. And when others show interest in me, I either don’t notice or it scares me.

My parents and friends can’t really understand my emotional turmoil when I vocalise it, they just tell me that it’ll change when I am older. But I don’t know if they’re right, I don’t even know if I want them to be right. How do I really truly now if I am aro? And how do I deal with that feeling of loss that comes with letting go off the idea of falling in love? (For me! I know that it’s not a must!)

It's very normal to need an adjustment period when considering adopting a new label, especially when it's something off the beaten path we're kind of expected to follow. And also to just get used to the idea you're life isn't going to be what you may have assumed it would be.

Don't be afraid to give yourself time, and don't feel bad for needing some time. You're not doing anything wrong, it also doesn't mean you won't be able to ever embrace the label if you do choose to adopt it down the road, or learn to enjoy it. It's just where you are right now.

If you're still not sure about being aro, I definitely recommend looking up aro experiences (Arocalypse and Carnival of Aros are both great resources for that, but really you can do it anywhere aros are talking about being aro). Though sometimes it's also just an issue of time, it's very hard to define an absence of something (as opposed to something tangible you can feel), but you start to feel more confidence in that absence as time goes on.

Same with feeling that loss, time helps a lot. And as you grow older you'll develop your own list of priorities and get to know yourself well enough to know what you do want out of life, and what would make you feel fulfilled or happy. And maybe they'll include things society tells you you should want, but maybe they won't, and everyone's different in that regard.

Another thing I'd recommend is follow aro blogs in general or look up aro media (there's especially a lot of books and podcasts out there these days with aro characters). And that will help normalize being aro along with, if you do end up IDing aro, giving you people and characters you can connect with and see your experiences reflected.

What’s the last line you wrote? Post a snippet from a wip. Do you write by hand, on your phone, or on your laptop? What’s your favorite part of the writing process (worldbuilding, brainstorming/outlining, writing, editing, etc)?

Depends. Since I’m usually in bed about to sleep or in school or something I usually daydream for at least a day or so before I remember to write something down so I don’t forget it. But once that happens I keep daydreaming and then keep adding onto it as I daydream.

“Goodbye, sir,” was all Charles had time to say before Shadowman hung up.

He turned back to Lady Light and informed her, “It seems I have other engagements to attend to. It would be quite irritating if you escaped, so don’t.”

“You can’t be serious,” she objected. “You’re just going to leave me here for a tea party?”

“Yes. Bye,” he called, already halfway to the door. She scowled after him and muttered about priorities as he left and locked the door behind him.

I usually just use the google docs app on my phone but sometimes I’ll use my iPad or computer, it really just depends lol. I don’t ever hand write more than a few words that would just serve as a prompt for my idea.

I really like worldbuilding and writing dialogue because it’s so fun to develop the characters and those two things (imo) are the basis of every good story (plus like grammar obviously)

Okay so can I ask for some general headcanons for a Fem!MC in twst? The game has gender-neutral pronouns for the MC so far and it's an all boys school. How do you think the characters reaction/interactions would change if the MC was female? (if all are too much you can just pick your faves, maybe just include the octa and Savannahclaw dorm?) Just your thoughts and some brainrot💖

I think the boys would definitely be a lot more flirtatious to fem!MC!!! (I just wanna call her FeMC so I could say… fem… with a c at the end LOL). This is an all boys school, what do you expect?!

Grim would lay at night curled up beside you. On days when your period hit, Grim would sense you in pain and get near your abdomen and purr. He feels like it’s an instinctual thing to do and if if helps out his minion, he’ll do it! Plus there’s tuna in it for him, right? Pet his ears too!

Heartslabyul

Riddle would definitely blush when you are around, but not too heavily! Sure he finds you attractive but it won’t stop him from fulfilling his duties as a dorm leader! He can’t help himself when he gets flustered talking to you since the only woman he grew up around was his strict mother. Since you’re different compared to her, he can’t tell but feel warmth from you which he wants to keep in his heart.

Ace and Deuce would make jokes at each other’s expense, both of them sorta going neck and neck trying to compete for your attention! They know you guys are just friends… unless..? 😳 Ace would make the snarky remarks while Deuce would threaten to beat Ace up.

Trey would act the same towards you, knowing he has to be a respectful upperclassman! You ALMOST can’t tell he sets aside the cupcake with more fruits or decoration on it for you at the Unbirthday party. Trey would give his signature smirk and wink as he sets it down in front of you.

Cater would take you on shopping sprees and outings to have so many photo opportunities with NRC’s only female student! Girls would flood his comments asking if you were his girlfriend, but he never answered. He secretly hopes you like him back so you could do cute couple things together like match outfits!

Savannaclaw

Leona would still call you herbivore and treat you the same as always. Still as lazy as before. However he can’t help but show off when he plays Magift and you happen to be watching. He lowkey stares at your features and shape of your body when you’re not looking 👀

Ruggie would also mostly act the same towards you, but he would bump into you on purpose so he can have an excuse to touch or smell you! His body tingles when he can smell your scent on the blazer he accidentally knocked into you with! Still treats you the same as ever though!

Jack would be gentler towards you, he knows how rough and big his body is, he doesn’t want to accidentally hurt you! His personality is still the same, don’t think he’ll treat you any differently because you’re a girl!

Octavinelle

Azul would try to make shady deals with you to offer you protection against students who may be too forward with you since you’re a girl. In exchange? For you to work at the lounge! and spend time with him. He secretly likes you but would never tell you to uphold his reputation and he is also afraid of rejection ;w; Azul would also not mind seeing you wearing the lounge uniform, fufufu…

Jade would would act more like a butler type! You also find him nearby sometimes, feeling his striking gaze looking at you. He’s always there when someone is trying to confess to you and you look uncomfortable. “Oya oya, do you need some help, miss?” His voice teasingly echoes through the halls, scaring off the guy who was trying to hit on you. Jade would stretch out his hand and escort you to wherever you needed to go.

Honestly? Unless you had a super “girly” appearance, Floyd wouldn’t have noticed until he gave you a hug to squeeze you, noticing your body was different… more squishy... and your bone structure is different. Shrimpy is so squeezable!!! Huh? He has to be wary of your chest? He’ll just lift you up by your tummy! You being a girl doesn’t stop the hug train!

Scarabia

Kalim wouldn’t treat you any differently! He would still definitely invite you over as often as possible, not realizing his sweetness may come off as flirtatious! Might develop a small crush on you :) imagines all the pretty outfits he could buy you from his homeland

Jamil would at first be wary of you but once he realizes you aren’t a threat to Kalim or the school, he stops doubting you. Definitely isn’t the type to judge you differently based on your gender!

Pomefiore

Vil would smirk and think he finally has someone else to practice makeup on! He definitely uses you as a model to show off his products, whether it be makeup, skincare, clothing, etc!

Rook would be… protective. He likes you because you’re different, and he would subtly follow and stake you out to see what things you’re doing differently at NRC as a girl. Rook offers silent protection against those he sees as a threat to you before you can even notice.

Epel would definitely try to prove his manliness in front of you if Vil isn’t in the vicinity! Going out of his way to carry heavy items, be tough, etc. If YOU tell him he’s manly, it’s certainly gotta mean something right?!

Ignihyde

Idia thinks it’s like some sort of anime trope, you’re the female protagonist and it’s like a reverse harem because the whole school is full of boys! Cough cough breaking the fourth wall here! He would probably be more… nervous around you, not like he would ever get close anyways, but still! The idea of the only girl at school actually being friends with you and maybe becoming more makes his heart beat faster.

Ortho would not. Perceive you any differently LOL. He’d be intrigued would say like “A girl? Cool! The body analyses I’ve done from everyone around you reads their body temperatures higher and their hearts are all beating faste- MMPH!” He would be silenced by ADeuce…

Malleus…. Once he knows how you don’t fear him and how you like him even without knowing who he is. All he can think of is how beautiful you would be as his queen. Who can blame him? He has priorities and he needs to think of these things! I can also imagine him picking petals off flowers and saying “She loves me… she loves me not…” because he’s romantic like that… my heart

Lilia would use his experience in his vast years of dating to his advantage, knowing what ways to talk to a woman best. He swears he is only flirting with you for fun! The way your cheeks puff up in embarrassment is just too cute to resist! He certainly doesn’t mind a gender neutral MC, but Lilia can appreciate the beauty in every gender and he certainly appreciates your beauty!

Silver said 😪😴 . You notice Silver has more of a knightly approach to you, offering to protect you when you need it. He understands how a situation between one girl and hundreds of male students could provide a sense of fear, so Silver would always be there to protect you if you need!

Sebek would blush when you’re around, but he thinks you’re trying to use feminine charm and wiles to seduce the young master, even though all you did was make a yawn noise, flip your hair, or put on a bit of makeup! You have to explain to him that you aren’t doing anything to try to seduce anybody. You just wanted to go to school. He is doubtful but finally agrees. Maybe he was becoming victim to your charm instead?

Rambling about how Ace developed as a character throughout the story

From what I can tell by looking at the text, Oda probably got the idea for Ace while writing Arlong Park. There we meet Nojiko, Nami's cool older adopted sister. Her primary role in the story is providing a safe place for Nami to vent her feelings and looking after Nami's well-being but you can see shadows of what will become Ace's defining characterization when he's introduced in Alabasta. Namely that she is more responsible and mature than Nami, valuing her family in spite of their poverty and lack of blood ties (unlike Nami) and being willing to throw away her own happiness for Belemere's sake, there's a few lines that suggest she was an even better thief than Nami back in the day (Though Nami's clearly had more... field experience) and of course... she is shot in front of Nami. Not fatally, of course, but it was a real scare.

Towards the end of the arc, Luffy stumbles on Gen at Belemere's grave and tries to offer his condolences (which he does in an unusually formal and polite way for him) but doesn't quite stick the landing. I posit this is where Oda got the idea of Ace's running gag of speaking politely but acting quite rude.

By the time Ace is properly introduced into the story I'm sure Oda already had Ace-the-plot-device figured out but Ace-the-character is a different matter entirely. Of course, Oda, knowing Ace would die and that he needed Ace to be as likeable as possible, did his damndest to sell Ace as a picture-perfect responsible older brother while still having his behavior resemble Luffy's enough you believe they're brothers. But outside of that his character is just there to build hype for future characters and events. Half the reason Ace leaves so soon after being introduced is to give Oda more time to figure him out.

I do think, however, that he'd already figured Ace and Luffy would have to be adopted brothers. He knew he'd eventually have to find a reason for Ace's absence during Luffy's OG backstory. Saying this picture-perfect older brother just ignored the crises with the mountain bandits wouldn't do. Having Ace and Luffy be adopted siblings rather than biological allowed him more room to maneuver. Maybe Ace had reservations about Luffy and/or Shanks and didn't want to hang out with them. Maybe, like Nami, he didn't value his adopted family until a little mortal peril straightened out his priorities. Maybe he just wasn't in Luffy's life yet.

(Which... if I could... did Garp really arrange for two separate child-care systems for his two separate-but-equal grandsons who lived on the same island and take YEARS to think of raising them together?? This man should never been entrusted with children.)

It also meant Ace could have his own life and struggles independent of Luffy. Oda would have the room to design a complex character that didn't have to revolve around his more-plot-relevant brother. Which is something many authors struggle with. Making supporting characters feel like they have their own lives and stories outside of how they affect the main narrative.

But... Oda also hedges his bets in places. Ace is designed, both in appearance and behavior, to resemble Luffy up to a point. Ace's appearance is more angular and thus reads more masculine. But he still has Luffy's messy black hair, his wide comfortable shorts, and that iconic hat. (Which, looking back, the genius of having them only share one genetic trait and it's one they both share with fucking Roger is so fucking good Oda oh my god!) They have different last names but they both have that middle D. Which we've just learned is something to pay attention to. And, of course, neither of them mention any details about their family or childhoods because Oda hasn't made a decision yet one way or the other.

I don't think Oda had the idea of Ace being Roger's son until after he'd finished Enies Lobby. The reason being that all throughout Enies Lobby Oda seems to be leaning more towards Ace and Luffy actually being biological brothers. Luffy uses Ace's gags a few times throughout the arc, mainly when he's unreasonably polite to some guards before resorting to violence with them and then when he and Garp both fall asleep in the middle of an argument. Giving the impression that all three are related and thus would share traits. (Luffy does this at no other point btw) The D. initial is revealed to be such a familial trait (and with as rare as we know it to be what are the odds of two unrelated D.'s being adopted into the same family) And with Garp introduced as the patriarch of the family, we now have a much clearer understanding of Luffy's family dynamics and upbringing. We as the audience feel that we have an explanation for why these characters are the way that they are. Their grandfather is a living legend and also an eccentric who uses extreme means to make his grandsons into strong marines but their father left when Luffy was a baby, causing the older brother to feel more protective and responsible towards him. Where was Ace when the shit with the mountain bandits went down? Idk Garp probably chucked him off a cliff or sent him to military school or something.

But Enies Lobby is also definitely where Oda plants the seeds that will become Ace is Roger's son. Through Robin we see how terrifying it is to be on the wrong side of the World Government, especially as an under-prepared child. To be told your existence is a sin regardless of your actions or intentions. And the toll that persecution takes on one's mental health, ability to trust in others, and even the desire to live at all. Through Tom we see that this is a world where any connection to criminals, no matter how minor or how innocent you yourself may be, can be quite damning and have disasterous consequences.

Also towards the end of Enies Lobby we get our first proper introduction to Whitebeard. And I know Whitebeard was technically introduced before this all the way back in Jaya but, like Ace, he was introduced before Oda really knew the details of his character beyond the broad strokes. That scene is pretty-standard hype-building. This is when we get our first looks at what sets Whitebeard apart as a character and a pirate. Namely the paternal bond he shares with his crew, including Ace. Which wasn't really mentioned up until now. Ace is certainly happy with Whitebeard but during the early parts of the story he refers to him as his "boss" not "Oyaji". Now there are two possibilities here. Either Whitebeard's focus on being a father to his crew was a reaction to Ace's daddy issues or Ace's daddy issues were a reaction to Whitebeard's focus on being a father to his crew. These two were always going to be the most prominent in the story and thus their relationship would need to be emotionally compelling. So I'm sure one grew out of the other. However Oda deciding Ace would have daddy issues dosen't mean his daddy is yet. And I'm sure Oda could've found plenty of reasons for Ace to be mad with Dragon if he'd gone that path.

And so it would seem at some point during Thriller Bark or Sabody or maybe even Amazon Lily Oda decided to make Ace the ultimate combination of all the elements explored in Enies Lobby by making him Roger's son. Probably abandoning some other backstory for him he'd started planning and laying down the foundation for. And the rest is history.

Also for what it's worth I have no goddamn idea when he came up with Sabo.

My answer is Uchiha Sasuke.. He would make the best hokage among ALL naruto characters...He has all the Hard AND soft skills required to be in that position. Let's see the points :

Powerful : Sasuke is very powerful. very obvious.

Skillful : his powers are just right. isn't just wham bam brute strength like that of akimichi's or codependent like the yamanaka one

Agile : sasuke is super agile in his battles, and this just proves he has a sharp mind. on top of that he has fast reflexes my body moved on its own GAY

Sacrificial but not suicidal : Mr my body moved on its own but remember Sasuke didn't jump at every death situation willingly. he chose his battles and knew when to step back and when to dive in

Articulate : Sasuke knows his words. a hokage is a representative of the village so they have to be good with their words, be able to strike deals efficiently and win in the diplomacy mind games. ain't no shikamaru would be needed if Mr Uchiha sits on that chair

Cool headed : He keeps his cool,occasionally throws cunty remarks and approaches the enemy in a way a tiger approaches its prey. King was BORN to become a leader. he is not easy to rile up cz he knows his worth (unless you are naruto than u could idk say hi and Sasuke's heart will go BUDAM TUSS)

Poker Face : no matter how emotional he gets on the inside sasuke never shows it on his face.he has incredible control over his own reactions. This is a really important skill for any representative to have because this ain't keeping up with the Kardashians this is cutthroat real life

Knowledgeable : Sasuke was class topper at the academy. So he knew his way around the ninja bookish knowledge. it's important for someone in an important position like the hokage's to possess both theoretical and practical knowledge.

Emotional Intelligence : Sasuke forgave itachi even after all the brain damage he caused. this shows sasuke can see and go beyond him and look at the bigger picture. He will not let petty revenge or personal shit come in the path of the state's best interest.

Forgiveness : from the last point, he forgave itachi. which is not possible for most people bro someone laughed at bella hadid and i unfriended him cz fuck that. Being able to forgive and being the bigger person is something essential when you're in a leader position

Quick Decision Making skills : he takes super quick Decisions (agility in battles often comes from being able to calculate and come to a decision quickly) which is ADMIRABLE (now that i think abt it this one is the most important. as a Libra I can't make decisions for SHIT need me a sasuke)

Focused : he kept being focused and working on his revenge plan for a long time which proved he has perseverance, and laser sharp focus

Organization skills : He came up with a plan to achieve his results and then teamed up with different people to get there

Flexibility : even though he wanted to train and develop his skills, he tried many different paths for that. he was not fixated on just one path, say just stay with Orochimaru etc. but he went around, tried out new plans and teams and saw which one works the best

Priorities : even when he was super focused on one task (his revenge) he didn't neglect his other duties (getting good grades at the academy, going on missions, being gay, falling in love, BEING GAY, saving his teammates etc) which shows he doesn't have myopic vision for just one plan, he can juggle many tasks at once AND ACE ALL OF THEM.

So yeah Uchiha Sasuke is my answer

We need more anti C//A who are Adora stans (like you seem to be) so that people can understand that C///A is bad for Adora. Heck C//A is bad for Catra too, but the shippers don't seem to realize it. If Catra had been able to let Adora go maybe she could have healed instead of her festering and the abuse may have ended instead of escalated.

Hello Dear, welcome on my Blog and a big thank you for your message! Firstly I wanna apologize that this response is reaching you more than three full days, almost four later. Just real life getting into the way of my online presence (at least I got my A-Levels admission!) but I assure you that replying to you was on my To Do List the entire time. And while I could've typed something quick, I thought you deserved a full length response just as much as the person before you received. That goes for anyone really to ask/write me anything in the future.

Adora is a character that has flaws, her own interests, things she struggles with/is insecure about etc. but she also still works on being better (up to Season 5). This makes her relatable, fleshed out and overall three dimensional. Overall for me that makes Adora very likeable. Which is funny because when I first watched the show I thought of her as too goofy and felt like she as a character was overall just flat. Her character design did not speak to me either, the ponytail with the weird hair poof and these pointy shoulders of her jacket just really were not my taste. Isn't it amazing how perceptions can change?

As you can guess from that description I did not always stan Adora and she's probably still not my favorite character but over the almost two years I've been in this fandom I've grown rather fond of her. Other important characters to me are Kyle (a very relatable comfort character of mine, he learned to stand up for himself and others and I support that, f*ck Season 5 for barely acknowledging his existence), Lonnie (apart from treating Kyle badly (which I really do NOT support or excuse) I really love her, man, some women just do me like that, I mean she really stood up to Catra like that), Entrapta (I'm autistic too! It's great to have some representation, seeing the ableism/treatment she experiences in the show is not so much though), Seahawk (I don't even know why, I have some issues with his behavior towards Mermista at times but overall I love this dork), Scorpia (she reminds me of myself so much and I really wanna give her hugs, I'm so glad she chose to no longer let Catra treat her like that even though I will be forever salty she just immediately forgave her), Peekablue (I can explain this even less than Seahawk, especially since it was not even really him in the end but his existence somehow helped me cope with Season 5, without him I probably would've left this fandom ... and also my favorite color is blue) and Double Trouble (now there's enough people already critcizing how they're not exactly great Non-binary representation but this dramatic lizard will forever be in my heart, that reality check they gave Catra, basically slapping her in the face with facts was satisfying as h*ck, also I like lizards overall).

Now there's plenty of characters I like, dislike (or even hate) or am simply indifferent about but after all this is not a tier list but me talking about Adora, Catra and Catradora. Adora started off as this girl that was so sure what she was doing is right but once she was taught differently she was willing to leave everything she knew (except Catra, because she valued her despite everything) behind. And not only that, she broke out of the abuse cycle that Catra tried so hard to keep upright. And that is exactly what makes Adora such a good role model. She teaches children (or people) that:

Your past doesn't define what/who you are or what/who you can become

-> Adora used to be a Horde soldier and did not know where she came from, but nonetheless she found herself a family and became a hero that saved thousands of people

You can always change your mind and start a new life if you feel disappointed in what you are doing/who you are as a person

-> Basically the exact same point, Adora started a new life as she saw what the Horde really was and changed her mind about who to fight for

You deserve love too, be it platonic or romantic (or se*ual???) (If you're aro and/or ace just ignore the part that does not work for you)

-> While Adora for various reasons thought her only use was to please others and meet their needs and expectations (mostly due to Shadow Weaver and Catra) she learned to accept that she too deserves love and validation (if the love aspect would not have been focused on it being romantic love so she could smooch Catra in the finale this would've been a billion times better because she got love from her friends that showed her her real value)

You can walk away from something/someone, that does not make you egoistic/selfish

-> Adora walked away from the Horde, after Catra stubbornly refused to come with her despite many offers (basically Catra broke the promise, not Adora) from her too and that did not make her a "traitor" or "selfish", h*ck, Adora in the end did this for a bigger purpose too, even if part of it was her not wanting to live with such wrong morals

Your opinions, feelings etc. about a person/something can change and that is perfectly fine and valid, being able to change is part of what makes someone human

-> Adora's views on many things changed throughout the show: The Horde and the Rebellion, the First Ones, Catra, being She-Ra, herself, her priorities and so on ... she actually makes use of her brain, which is why Catra saying "Don't you ge it?" or calling her an idiot and dumb never sat right with me, she's a realistic character for shifting with her thoughts, feelings etc. and sometimes just does not fully think things through

You don't have to let other people treat you like sh*t (just because they have some issues they never worked through does not give them any right to let it out on you)

-> This point is obviously centered mostly around Catra and her abusing Adora almost every chance she gets, which is why Adora standing up for herself and not letting Catra blame her for her own decisions and mistakes is so important, "You made your choice, now live with it" is one of the most powerful lines throughout all the five Seasons

Now I'm sure there is still more to Adora's character than what I just listed and unfortunately almost all the points basically got pushed aside, well, Adora as a character got pushed aside in Season 5. All her growth, the things that made me love her, see her as great role model for so many people robbed of their value for the sake of making everything revolve around Catra. That brings me to her and how you are absolutely right that Catradora is harmful to both characters. Of course Adora is affected most by it in the end but Catra too is obviously suffering under the fandoms obsession and just the overall idea of them being romantically involved.

Just like with Adora the stans make almost everything about Catra over her relationship with Adora. She too can barely exist outside of it and if she wasn't the fan favorite she'd most likely would too be mostly in Fanarts that include Adora and not just her (if you google "Catra Fanart" most content is still Catra and Catra only but here and there Catradora still peaks through). But for whatever reason the fandom still views her more as her own person as the other ones? Catrouble and Scorptra Shippers might actually still get less hate than Glimmadora Shippers (I'm not denying they don't get any, they most certaintly do) which is just plain hypocricy and favorism. Kinda like the: A woman needs to be loyal to her husband and her husband only but if the husband wants to be active with other women that is perfectly fine because "that is just how men are" or how i like to call it ... sexism. Now in this case they are both women so it's not sexism but yo do get my point.

But much more importantly, Catra has an unhealthy obsession with Adora. Signs of that are for example:

Constantly talking about Adora, even when said person is not around (to Shadow Weaver, Scorpia etc.)

Obsessing over having control over Adora like in that one Episode "Are you kidding? I finally got control over Adora, I'm not giving that up!"

Building her entire character and her actions around Adora "We need to take Adora down", "Adora left me", "I'd rather see the whole world end than see you win!", also shown in Season 5 where she states she does save Glimmer only for Adora and not for Glimmer or to do the right thing

Getting aggressive or very emotional over Adora like clawing the wall, having nightmares etc. (destructive behavior towards herself and others)

Having no or barely any characteristics outside of her relationship with Adora like, we don't know her interests or likes and dislikes outside of being evil, obsessed with Adora, being abused by Shadow Weaver ...

Trying to force Adora to meet her needs and expectations regardless of Adora's owns

Sacrificing her oppurtunity to be happy in the Crimson Waste for the sake of her Adora obsession and being better than her at all costs

So yes, you were very right with saying that not putting Catra in a relationship with Adora would've benefited both characters. Catra could've learned to exist on her own, develop interests and a life outside of Adora. Learn to accept herself and eventually come to terms with her childhood abuse. She could've been free and not "the abusive cat girl that ended up with the person she unhealthily obsessed over to the point of no return" she kinda is now. Even if we ignore the whole "dating your long term abuser" part from Adora's side and "being rewarded" for horrible behavior, Catra alone is not giving a good example to people watching. As much as I dislike Catra, disdain her even, an ending where she is dependent on Adora, unable to stand on her own two legs after she led armies in war is not what I would wish for her, even with a decent redemption arc (that she did not get).

So I was going through your Bakugou critical tag and I got to one post talking about, y'know, shitty public schools and his academic ranking, and as someone who was labelled a 'gifted child' in a kinda shitty public school, I wanted to share my thoughts on how that could've affected his character.

I think, and this is a generalization, there's usually a time somewhere in a 'gifted' child's life where the just. Hit a wall. They get overwhelmed, burnt out, whatever. For personal reference, this year is definitely the year where I hit the wall because of my choice to switch to online, and now I'm having to consider how important my grades are, and reconsider priorities. Hearing about this from other people like me helped, but I doubt it's possible to completely negate it.

And UA's an extremely prestigious school, that was mentioned in the first chapter. What is it, 0.2% of applicants get in? I don't remember, I just remember it being ridiculously low. So there's no way of him avoiding hitting that wall with the change in academic expectations. In addition to the consequences he should receive for his abhorrent behavior in the past, that would've been some satisfying character development to see.

It would've been so interesting to see Bakugou hit that wall. It would've been interesting to see him struggle with the entrance exams, though I guess Japan has cram schools that would help. It would've been interesting to see other classmates who, despite maybe not being as naturally intelligent as Bakugou, have better habits that would lead to a better ranking.

Now, if it were me writing a fic? It's doubtful Bakugou would've even gotten into UA for a multitude of reasons. I can think of some ways to develop his character, but I'm so over his character, I'd rather just shove him out of the story and focus on other things. But that's just me and my take on him.

... Holy shit anon I love you. Damn, this is good. You’re completely right. There is a time where gifted kids hit a wall- I mentioned that Bakugou reminds me of my brother because he to was a gifted kid and he dropped out of University like twice.

 I would argue Bakugou isn’t just gifted though. He mentions he works hard and we are shown him working hard at being the best, so I don’t doubt he could make it into UA. This is my own observation and not about anyone else, but my brother was a gifted kid and he never really studied or tried. Our school just sucked. Bakugou does try. He also mentions he aced the mock exam.

 Personally as well, I think that the idea behind the 0.2% of applicants thing is a really gross exaggeration. Like sure, probably a lot of people apply for UA and don’t get in, but like... ehhhh I doubt? Solely cause like it just does not make sense to me. Also like, I love Kaminari and his fanon dumbness is exaggerated but he wouldn’t make it in if it was that low. So my thought is that .2% is actually how many graduate from the hero program itself. Because... okay so .2% of 10,000 is 20. As mentioned Aizawa expells a lot of students, and I am of the firm opinion other students drop out or get expelled because of the course load and demands and the fact they might realize how fucking terrifying heroics is making them want to switch careers.

 So the idea then is that the class sizes decrease through the three years, meaning 20 is usually the size of their graduating hero course.

“.2% of those graduating hero courses come from UA.” can easily be morphed into only .2% get into UA.

However, due to the fact that UA accepts anyone, I also think that the written exam is actually pretty easy. It’s just the practical that’s harder.

 So like I think his wall that would be hit would be with the actual material itself. He’s smart, studious and skilled, but like there’s a difference between working hard to be the best at a shitty school and being the best in a really high-end school. Also, his grades were probably padded because teachers do that shit to kids they like and I will DIE on that hill.

I fully love this idea of Bakugou struggling to stay in the top. I would love to see him go: Okay I can stick to my old study habits. But oh fuck, uhhh no? Because they don’t go over like the obvious shit they also go over the really easily forgettable stuff and that’s on the test?!

 Bakugou is not a guy to think about being subtle, and it would be so satisfying. Kaminari has a habit of remembering little things or random scraps of knowledge. Mina isn’t that great at studying but can easily remember random gossip. All these kids actually do have the habit of remembering random shit. Bakugou though is straightforward, loud and is to egotistical to think he needs to change. So the idea of him actually nearly failing is gold.

 More so if they end up kicking him to gen ed because of it.

 ... Anon, you are making me want a fic where he is in the bottom five of the class, and his continued screaming of cheating and lies is what gets him on probation.

Also, man why do you think unless I have a use for him or wanna be a dick to him he’s never in the fics? Half the time I stick him in 1B so I don’t need to bother with him. Or sent to another school.
